watching (yawn!) Ross co v Aberdeen on BT sport - yet another pathetic attendance for an SPL game.

Perhaps the TV is killing the sport, I don't know but it is obvious there is no interest from fans to turn out for two meaningless games almost every week. The game needs refreshing somehow to get bums on seats again big time. We need to find a way to get 3 or 4 teams genuinely fighting for titles, now and eventually after we get back in the top division, I mean midweek games in Dingwall, Aberdeen, Inverness who wants to drive the round trips in the middle of winter, cold, icy, wet, windy conditions and a hellish long night out? first priority, turn it into a summer sport, other countries have done it successfully, but of course we canny Scots know better? aye right.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

OP - Summer football? It would certainly help the teams in Europe who are immediately up against it with for example Scandanavian teams who are already well into their season when our teams are still fitting in pre-season friendlies then have to face make or break pre-qualifiers.
In a small country there tends to be a domination by one or two teams and the rest fight for the scraps - e.g the games you are talking about.

Not a fan of our games administrators but increasing the play offs a la English model is a step in the right direction. I have to admit to some interest this year for the first time ever in the top of the championship and the bottom of the premier league to see who we will be playing next season. But that will bring excitement to the fans of the clubs involved.
Being caught up in the travails of our own club we tend to forget about the rest of Scottish Football but if it hadn't been for the alleged "diddy teams" we would be obsolete.
If nothing else from the last few years if we learn a bit of humility and respect for the real fans who watch teams with no hope of real glory but still go to support their local team.

Agree0 Disagree0

A great post and equally great reply. A wee dose of humility and care for the future of the Scottish game would be a good start.

wel we are in a state of euphoria onc again with d king once again has every one on the edge of there seats with talk of millions ontap I bet in 6 weeks we will be no further forward because I see d king says he wants new shares if that's the case we wil be no further forward because unless some one buys the bandits shares to give them profit they will still be there this time next year still holding the aces the club will limp on with less overheheads ally still at the helm an d various share holders advancing money and getting it back and crowds dwindling unless some one makes an agressive attempt there will be no betterness and all the huffing and puffing will just carry on

Hi, Further to Dave Kings comments today. I think I am owed credit for not coming on here and spreading lies. Dave king with his fellow investors will put in in up to £50M in to Rangers over the next few years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am not being pedantic sir but I have been let down so many times by money people regarding RFC. I will hold judgement until I see the money in the bank. In the same vain why are the 1.5million fans not putting in there cash. We have had enough publicity. let's make that a major push instead of relying on another sugar daddy.
Can I just add in that I do respect the work and effort you and your team are doing for the rest of us. Much appreciated.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the small print of DK's 'intentions' and actually coming up with the goods is still a long way off. A bit of gamesmanship is going on with the board, I fear.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2014 20:23:46
OP so you've known about this all along eh? How come then you haven't even quoted the figure right? The announcement was that he has already put in £20m in the past and he's prepared to put in another £30m if necessary. that's £30m future investment, not 50. And its subject to the board "issuing" the shares that will give him control. You didn't mention that either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline dave king says fellow investers will put up 20million and he himself will put up 30 million thus 50 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Pauline and if you look at the financial page you will see my posts about how King will aquire a major shareholding. A dillution of shares puts Hedge funds like Laxey, Margaritta and Blue Pitches investments behing by years they will want out, to move their clients money somewhere that it has a chance of a faster investment return. A new share issue will rid the board of Cregihton, and those instituional investors who are starving the club. As I said before King is a clever man with a plan and he is playing a blinder. He has lost £20M he isn't back to make his money back as there si no money to be made back, he is doing it for the love of the club. Those who say where was he when Rangers needed a buyer, he was banned from making investments abroad under a South African court order so couldn't help but has openly admitted he wished he had used influences and contacts at the SARS to have aquired the club but hindsight is wonderful thing. I predict the money won't come in time for the summer a new IPO and share issue will take months but by next January window Rangers will begin bringing in players to secure the championship and ready for the SPL.

26 Mar 2014 13:44:49
@4 He made no mention whatsoever of £20m from fellow investors in his excludive interview with the DR. If i've missed another source where he does say that please point me to it.

@5 I take your post as tacit acceptance that you got the £50m future investment figure wrong. And when you say DK "will" acquire a major shareholding you really mean you "hope" he does so. that's all that his big interview amounts to.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline, There is nothing to stand in his way, its either Laxey, Blue Pitch and Margarita who stump up the cash or a fresh share issue. In the event of fresh share issue all the hedge funds will sell up its bad for business if you are looking for a quick return for your investors. King has said he would buy out Laxey's share but why should he line their pockets and then have no money left to take the playing team forward. what he said was that he reckons that Rangers need a £50M investment he wishes to gather funds from his institutional investor friends and he would fund the rest around £30M which would clearly indictate without the need for Carol Vorderman that he has instutional investment on stand by to put in £20M. If Dave King does take back control of the board Paul Murray and Franklin Blin will be appointed to the board and I reckon he would bring back Alistair Johnston as chairman. I reckon the Easdales will work with King, King seemed to have changed his mind on them after the board meeting.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2014 17:43:45
@7 there are so many assumptions in the potential scenario you outline it beggars belief you seem to honestly think "there is nothing that can stand in his way. " Anyway if its a dead cert then why is he bothering to try and ramp up pressure on the board? Why is the union of fans groups doing the same? Why bother if its gonnae happen anyway? Simple obvious answer is its not certain. Not by a long chalk. And you might want to call in Vorderman to figure out where the revenue comes from once the 'soft investment' runs out and we're stuck with the £24m wage bill he's dreaming about. Castles in the sky mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline on line mail last night or night before told of the 50 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline I click on here every night and I've noticed as has been said by others your comments are always doubting everybody

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2014 07:13:40
@10 I don't doubt everybody. Only those who make questionable comments. So sorry if that bugs you, but I get concerned that its nostalgia driven delusion that will prevent us from truly escaping the shtt hole we're in. It's what keeps allowing liars like CW, CG and DK to be lauded as heroes before they actually do anything positive. I don't like to see it and sorry it spoils your evening's search for a rosy picture but i'm not the only realist on here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline I never said it bugged me its just that I've noticed your comments are always negative

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline I've never agreed with craig shyte or charliboy being involved with rangers but I THINK if dave king was allowed to get involved then he would unite the support and get us back to were we used to be you obviously think diffrent but its all about opinions eh ime allowed mine and you like wise

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2014 19:27:00
@13 our difference here was a matter of fact not opinion. You said here and under another thread that dk has spoken of fellow investors lined up to pump in £20m on top of the 30 he says he'd put in. But the online mail article you refer to says he thinks it'll take £50m and that he's prepared to put in 30, that's all. In fact in the DR interview he says he doesn't expect that extra finance to come from any "institutions" but fans instead. doesn't say he has fans lined up to do that though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline what does it matter where the other 20 million comes from he dk said he has got 50 million to invest that's it end of 50 wither its all his or he borrowed it from his great great grannis big sisters older sister it 50 million either way

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2014 00:29:09
@15 No he didn't say he has £50m to invest. You're wrong. He said he thinks it'll take £50m to get us back competing with celtic and that he would be prepared to invest "up to £30m" of that. that's what he said. He didn't mention that he had other investors lined up to cover the rest. But you said on here that he did. You posted that twice. You read the story wrong, you realise that now and you're trying to cover it up by saying "what does it matter". It matters because you're spreading delusion and false hope under the guise of being "positive". Its not positive to be spreading misinformation to fellow bears when at this time more than ever we need to be clear what our options are. If you think that's me being "negative" then fine. Less deluded fans will see that its not. Its caring about the club and about not allowing clowns like you to mislead other fans into making important decisions based on false information.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok maybe it was not in mail online but I know what I read he dk says it would tak 50million he has got 50 million 30million of it being his own money oh and do you think I was the only person that said he had 50million to invest I've never opened a post so others have seen it although I don't know you personally I bet you liked margaret thatcher lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline in reply to your post n15 may I sudjest you read the online report again if you read the full report dave king said I will invest 30 million and he is sure he has other that will invest the other 20 million 30 and 20 adds up to fifty

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline I've just read my posts back if you look at my post on the 24th when I first mentioned dave king wanting to get involved at ibrox I mentioned dave king was looking to invest 30 million of his own money I never mentioned 50 million in my first post and I was the first to mention mr king and his 30 million

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2014 09:24:15
@18 Please quit this. Thatcher wouldn't beg for an end to lunacy but I will. I have read the mail article right through several times. He did not say that other investors "are" lined up to pump in £20m as you first claimed so very definitely. He did not say he is "sure he has" fellow investors prepared to do so, as you now claim. He said it is his "desire" that others would join him and he "thinks" some would. that's not the same thing by any means. Your versions suggest a definite plan or something very close to a definite commitment. What he actually said though just amounts to a wish, a hope. Nothing definitely promised, no certainty about it whatsoever. Too much sand in your eyes buddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

We know what he says is a wish a hope and it on comments like his that we find something to get opininions on and as this is rumour banter site we will natuerly comment on what him or others say after all that's what this site is here for

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2014 21:54:02
@21 I have no problem understanding that people have differences of opinion and enjoy a bit of banter about them. But you got your facts wrong sunshine. You repeatedly stated something as fact that just simply isnt. You didn't read the article properly. You've been spreading wallaby info and insisting its the truth. that's not a matter of opinion. You were just plain wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline I know you are mixing my post up with someone elses posts I've never used the words pumpin 50 million into any post but I've looked back on my comments since I first posted about dave king wanting to invest 30 million of his own money and I've noticed posts that talk about dave king looking to pump in 50 million youve got the wrong poster

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2014 10:51:24
@23 ehh naw. Check out your post @4 above. Its there in black in white. There are other examples too. nothingbutthestruth started the thread looking for "credit" for being the first to tell us all that DK himself will invest £50m. I pointed out that was horsecr#p and he'd got the figure wrong (i note he's gone very quiet since). You then came on to claim the fact was actually that DK would put in £30m and other investors would "put in" 20, "thus £50m" you said. You tried to defend that when challenged several times, and also under another thread when someone else queried the 50 figure you said other investors would make up the other 20. Denying it now is just unbelievable horsecr#p. Utterly embarassing if not disturbing even. You are either mad or havin a laugh. Hope its the latter though its not very funny. I know you will want the last word so over to you. Please embarass yourself even further.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pauline I think its you that's mad look at your posts trying to tell me dave king never said he had 50 million to invest in rangers and I also think that anybody that didn't want dave king and the 50 million to get involved at rangers is not a true supporter after all which scotish club could refuse such a sum our club which has no money should jump at that opportunity

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2014 09:34:05
Good Q&A article with Dave King in the Daily Record today. He can't be clearer in what he intends to do with Rangers, i. e. investing possibly as much as £50m in 'soft money' to be spent on the team and facilities. Surely the cynicism will stop given his very clear and unambiguous commitment to Rangers. He loves the club and is willing to invest (not lend) money to Rangers. I think during the summer things will turn round with Dave King at the helm and the good times will be just that little bit closer. WATP.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doiger, I hope Dave King can put us back on track but any money to be spent on the team needs to be in the hands of a capable manager to enable us to achieve the stability and success we desire.
Dave King is no mug, so hopefully his heart does not rule his head on the difficult decisions to be made.
Let's just see if, and how, he gets himself control and if he carries out his 'intentions'. [ remembering that assurances were required from the board when they said they had no 'intention' of selling assets. ]

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree billyb. Ally must not get his hands on any of the money King might invest! I think Ally should go in the summer, with thanks for his efforts (two successive league titles) and then we bring in a high profile, attack-minded manager. Billy Davies maybe, but I still like the idea of Big Tel as boss. Whoever it is, we must cut loose the deadwood, sign two or three marque players and give the youngsters like McLeod, Mackay, Crawford and Gasparatto a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, would agree that a degree of intelligent caution is essential as we near the corporate end game. Dave King has cleverly set the present board a challenge to prove their commitment in Wallace's absurdly overdue business plan. However, we have all been here before, and we need to see Mr. Kings's business plan, too. There should be absolute clarity in laying out a new rights issue strategy, who will be his target investment partners, and how widely he will embrace both ordinary fan involvement and Bears of serious net worth, both in Scotland and down here, who are keen to support him financially. Messrs. Pryor, McLure and Letham all come to mind. There are many more like them here, in the City and in positions of influence.
A cogent, transparent business plan - ambitious and well-strategised - is the minimum requirement for supporters' trust. And I'm afraid, if Mr. King is the shrewd pragmatist I take him for, that both short and long-term investment in the playing and management staff will not be entrusted to Ally and his present cohorts. The product on the park is horrendous and devoid of vision or style. Mr. King will be throwing his millions down a black hole if he does not match his generosity and love of Rangers with the courage to make a transformative switch to serious football management. There is too much at stake for Bears worldwide, after our three years of suffering, for the rebirth of the Blues to be still-born. All true Gers fans will wish Mr. King well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably the most sensible post I've read for many a day. well done Senior LB!

Agree0 Disagree0

Senior London Bear. Well said. This is a business proposition in the making though it is good to note that King is also stating that he is a philanthropist. No serious football club chairmen/owners can make real money buying into a football club. If King has £50 million to spare for his beloved Rangers then one or two others might follow suit with some of their money. It has been a painful process having to put up with persons like Green and Whyte (pardon the pun) but fingers crossed! A couple of new names who might be considered as our manager next season: Paul Sturrock, Malky Mackay or even Alex McLeish?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2014 13:22:16
OP He couldn't be clearer what he intends to do? For a start he could make it clearer how the hell he expects us to afford the quadrupled players wage bill he's suggesting for year after next. That'll be £24m. Every year. Even if he pumps in his £30m, that would all be used up that one year alone. What do we do the next year to meet that wage bill and all other costs? What kind of magical massive income is he expecting us to have in the premiership? His "plan" is just more hot wind designed to get unthinking fans all excited. Pure fantasy nostalgia for SDM years that can never come back. Besides it all means nothing unless, as he says, the board are prepared to "issue" the shares he needs to gain control. Does he mean he will "buy" those shares? Will the cost of that be included in his £30m? There's a few questions he could make clearer for a start. Bet he doesn't though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paulineblue72. If it gets to the stage whereby King makes an aggressive bid then the Board are duty bound to put this to the shareholders in general. That could be one scenario.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Mar 2014 17:21:10
@7 what makes you think he might make an aggressive bid? Note the wording in his "exclusive" DR interview - he wants the board to "issue" the shares needed for him to take control. Eh? He's carefully steering clear of even saying he's prepared to "buy" shares, never mind an agressive take over. I'm sorry but it just looks like more empty waffle to me. Wish it was exciting news but at the moment its just not.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he has given some consideration to the UEFA Financial Fair Play moves

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave king Dave King. We should be ashamed of ourselves. With the alleged 1.5million Gers fans world wide we should be chipping in £50 each, which is not a big ask and matching Dave Kings offer. I find it embarrassing that we are again looking for a sugar daddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

As I have said until some one puts theremoney where ther mouth is its still cake the morn or same old merde different different mouth

Is nobody annoyed at his of the cuff remark, and I quote
Some of our fans can't put shoes on their kids feet but they buy a season ticket because they love the Club'?

What does this guy think of the fans if he is saying that.

Unfortunately vambo, most of the support only see £ms, before everyone gets carried away:

Whyte: wealth off the radar.

While it's all about opinions, I can't see why there is such backing for Billy Davies as a future Rangers boss. As other posts indicate - his record down south is nothing great. I don't think he has a great eye for a player and the style of football he has his teams playing is so-so.
I don't think - in my opinion - you need to look any further than Motherwell for a far more suitable candidate. Built a successful side over the last couple of years - sold the backbone of the team last summer - has rebuilt again this year - prepared to give younger players a go and hasn't had very much cash to spend. sound like someone who could do the job the current Rangers manager can't?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

*Didnt finish that reply.
I agree JGSF. I can't see how Davis would be the best option going forward for us. I do think McCall would be a good option, but for me it would be Derek McInnes. I see him as a perfect longterm manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ OP and 1 I agree both McCall and McInnes would be better managers than McCoist and would cost our club a helluva lot less money both in terms of salary and wage bill. Youth would get their chance but there are a couple of hurdles which will probably leave the unsatisfactory status quo. Dave King is an Ally fan. Derek McInnes could be on the start of something half decent at Aberdeen. Would he wan't to leave a secure future with a team towards the top of the top league with European football and a soon to be built new stadium?
I didn't know much about Billy Davies and his managerial career but agree the CV doesn't look too great- sacked by Motherwell 2001 left Derby County by "mutual consent" 2007 sacked by Nottingham Forest 2011, sacked by Nottingham Forest again 2013.
Sadly for some of us McCoist will be in charge again next year and if Dave King is going to throw money at the club then Ally will spend every last penny he can get. Whether that will be wisely spent is something else but it will be the nail in the coffin for youth development at Ibrox if Ally has money to spend.
As Ayr Bear has so succinctly put it on more than 1 occasion the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting a different outcome.
Auchenhowie - what is the effn point of it? You could have the greatest scouting system in the world but if your manager prefers experienced journeymen the Andy Robertsons of the world will get their Scotland caps and big transfer fees for other Scottish clubs but not for the gers.
Kris Boyd FFS- past time to look forward not backwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not get to carried away at the minute let's see exactly what dave kings plans are and what chance will he give supporters groups to invest at the minute its all pie in the sky the first thing that must be tackled is getting shot othe present regime then plans can be made as previous posters have said ally cannot get his hands on any moneyn in fact it should be the door handle he puts his hand on the way out there should be no rush toappoint billy davis his record ain't good and his traetment of the media is woeful I certainly would not consider him to be the right man to takeover the managers role he also has some skeletons in his personal life that would not befit the managerr of rangers the idealscenario would be richard gough and a good young assistant like ian murray at dumbarton richard gough would be in the same mold as souness don't suffer fools gladly d macinnes shoul be left a while yet at aberdeen to see how he does over a period of time but definetly not billy davis

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I welcome the news of investment from dave king, I cringe when I think of him giving the money to mccoist.

@2 I think Dave King won't think twice at cutting Mc coist loose if he gains control. I think Richard Gough will have a big part to play behind the scenes if King gets control.
