When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you. as a support we have to unite and back whoever is put in charge. We need someone In to sort first team ASAP! I can see Fergie getting the interim coach position and then assisting the man the board and DOF have in mind.
I really hope we appoint Paul Mitchell for DOF role. His record in a relatively short period of time has been excellent at each club he's worked at.

26 Feb 2017 22:27:08
Ah, Miyagi San. 👍

26 Feb 2017 20:48:45
Don't really understand the remit of a DOF, but could someone explain the difference between Frank McParlands job and that of a DOF?

FMcP was known as Head Scout, Head of Recruitment.

I'm sure a DOF would have a lot more to do but it's new for our club.

I'm not sure if DOF was Advocaats official title when Eck came in.

27 Feb 2017 00:11:54
Mcparkland a scout lol. if u don't know diffrence keep your head in the sand lol

26 Feb 2017 19:54:58
Held off sending this most of today. Given the news that Billy McNeil has dementia I hoped we would see some form of comment from the Club.
So he is a one-club Celtic man playing over 800 games, 9 in a row captain and leader of the Lisbon Lions.
Much as he is a Celtic institution, he epitomises the kind of leadership on and off the park we are sorely missing. Reading this mornings paper, his Wife shows the kind of dignity and strength that Rangers today misses.
Many of the recent Club Statements have been misguided and petty, not worthy of Rangers.
Traynor and the board needs to take a lead from Mrs McNeil and communicate openly and honestly.
Step 1 (and I am really disappointed this has not already happened) would be a Club statement recognising and sympathising with a old foe in time of struggle and offering support to his wife and family. Commmon decency and (missing) class.
Shout this down if you will.

26 Feb 2017 20:11:24
Iain, I think you are being a bit harsh, it is extremely sad and our thoughts are with Billy as he fights this horrible disease, John Grieg came out today and spoke warmly about his pal as he fights his biggest battle.

It is Sunday and I, m sure the club will release a statement in the next couple of days.

No one will shout you down but just disagree at the speed you expect the club to release a statement.

The club is in a bit of turmoil at the moment and all efforts are focussed on finding a new manager.

Class has got nothing to do with it, has any other club released a statement.

26 Feb 2017 20:28:28
Why would rangers release a statement because mcneill has dementia i don't get it

26 Feb 2017 20:40:26
Ron 59 - fair point - hope you are right

26 Feb 2017 22:14:44
Fergie 81@ The fact you need it explained it to you. Should tell you everything.

26 Feb 2017 22:14:56
Fergie 81. It's called respect. Same as celtic done for Fernando and also donated 10.000 pound to his benefit match.

27 Feb 2017 02:25:40
When sandy jardine was diagnosed with terminal cancer how long did it take celtic to release a statement if they even released one. Get off your high horse iain. How do you know they havnt privately contacted billys family?

27 Feb 2017 12:24:33
I'm sure the PR team at Ibrox could pen a short statement in a matter of minutes saying that it is with the utmost regret that Rangers learned of Billy's illness and wishing the man and his family well.

Anyway Jim Traynor isn't part of the team helping to find a new manager/ DOF, is he?

26 Feb 2017 19:41:31
Ok why have fergie in some capacity. manager . assistant whatever. ill tell u why . his passion something were lacking big time.

26 Feb 2017 20:41:16
Seem to recall Davie Weir being one of the top five names mentioned before MW came in.

The bookies just have to fill their lists of names. They haven't got the foggiest, just like the rest of us.

They've had Eck, Davies, Mcciness and Wright as the frontrunners since MW left. What imaginations.

However, there is no way Barry Ferguson will be manager of Rangers. Not now, not ever.

Thankfully.

26 Feb 2017 21:02:27
Absolutely NO, So every player we have had who has passion for us can do a job for us, this is desperate nonsense. Think bully wee supporters will be over the moon he is off.

27 Feb 2017 02:27:03
Halliday has passion and he is an atrocious midfielder. By all means an assistant but not a manager.

27 Feb 2017 02:33:21
Clyde board are gutted he's gone, my mate also plays for them and the players are still hoping he won't go.

27 Feb 2017 15:08:47
@davie1980 - so you would still like to appoint someone based on being a Ranger's Man rather than ability? Plenty moaned on here about MW's lack of managerial experience yet you are quite happy to appoint someone who has just crashed and burned at Clyde. That in a nutshell is exactly what's wrong with our club.

26 Feb 2017 19:34:30
I am sick to death of WTP and whinging about the other mob.
We are supporters of glasgow Rangers. There is no entitlement for us to win. We need to support and suffer like all football fans all over the world. We have had many great days but let's not be deluded that in sport everything is about money or history.

So let's grow up take it on the chin support our team and we will be back.

26 Feb 2017 19:43:52
I disagree with a lot of views on here but don't get your point.
We're not stupid, we all know we're struggling and only suggest things that will improve our beloved team. We are well aware that we have to suffer the bad times and appreciate the good times. Haven't seen many posts on here who state otherwise so we don't need u talking down to us as though we're idiots

26 Feb 2017 19:32:18
Many, many years back the greatest ever Ranger became the manager of our club with very little experience in a managemnt role. All this Barry Ferguson talk, has me revisiting my thoughts from those day, that it won't end well, but I sincerely hope I am wrong this time if it all comes to fruition.

26 Feb 2017 19:47:08
Yeah your right the Greig era was painful and I'm not saying Barry is the answer but strongly object to the comments from so called supporters on here who question his ability and devotion to the club. Anyway it won't matter because Barry is not even in the frame.

27 Feb 2017 15:11:28
@ross1990 - most people are questioning his ability as a manager. Perhaps you can enlighten the doubter's why you think different apart from him being a Rangers Man?

26 Feb 2017 19:02:29
the board ain't listening too the supporters, we will end up with some no hope and we will get laughed at, word too the board push the boat out and get a decent manager now before we end up with the worst ever deficit in league history being behind celtic by 33 points is a disgrace

27 Feb 2017 00:27:41
Starman, you're deluded. Sounds like you want us to be laughed at. give the board a chance to do the right thing instead of writing the new gut off before he's even been appointed

26 Feb 2017 17:10:38
Very sad know matter who has it

26 Feb 2017 16:59:36
What about McLeish as manager and Barry as assistant?

27 Feb 2017 01:48:14
I would be happy with that.

26 Feb 2017 15:46:46
ferguson was a decent player, but overated. as a manager he has clyde third bottom of the 2nd division when they were favourites to win it, and some people think he will come in and transform rangers when we need a right good manager now after the last few disasters? i would rather barry chuckle was brought in than barry ferguson. we need a person with experience and stature as a manager

26 Feb 2017 16:10:17
All good managers have had money I think we are looking for a needle in a haystack as we have no money

26 Feb 2017 19:51:32
I've not seen one post that suggests Barry will transform the team. A few have said he would tell players what it's all about but no one has claimed he can transform this bunch. He's not even being considered by the board but I can't understand the vitriol from our so called loyal supporters. SHORT MEMORIES

26 Feb 2017 20:13:16
Nebour if the players don't know what it is to play for rangers now they never will and Barry ferguson ain't gonny change that

26 Feb 2017 21:36:20
So what do u suggest steins give up?

27 Feb 2017 17:15:51
Rossco what I'm saying is what they've got ain't good enough and it needs a clear out top to bottom

26 Feb 2017 14:07:06
I simply cannot understand why some supporters on here are wanting Barry Ferguson as some capacity. Please give your reasons?

26 Feb 2017 14:18:14
Hes a winner and a leader something totally lacking at our club right noe

26 Feb 2017 14:37:03
Good captain in his day so you would think he will still have good leadership maybe give Halliday and others the boot up the bum they need something I think murty isn't doing not a permanent manager but a no2 or coach somewhere in the club

26 Feb 2017 14:50:13
Good player he's not a good manager not won in 10 matches that's why he's resigned more to managing a team than giving them up a boot up arse

26 Feb 2017 14:59:44
He's a winner and leader? Clyde not won in 10 games. Get a grip with this ex player nonsense!

26 Feb 2017 15:15:45
Ex players don't always make good managers don't know what the big fuss is about him others guys out there who are capable kicking ass and building a team better record. so you get a grip

26 Feb 2017 15:20:19
That mob have got a manager that nearly won the English premiership a few seasons ago and some of us are wanting a manager that nearly took His team out of the Scottish leagues - mental absolutely mental
He's a club legend but you only have to look as far as mccoist to see that being a rangers man and a legend doesn't mean you will be a good manager

26 Feb 2017 15:21:29
What was the last great manager we had

26 Feb 2017 15:23:03
Pb1 u won't want frank deboer then x player nonsense

26 Feb 2017 15:28:19
We can't afford a manager like that without big investment

26 Feb 2017 15:46:35
ferguson was a decent player, but overated. as a manager he has clyde third bottom of the 2nd division when they were favourites to win it, and some people think he will come in and transform rangers when we need a right good manager now after the last few disasters? i would rather barry chuckle was brought in than barry ferguson. we need a person with experience and stature as a manager

26 Feb 2017 16:32:26
I wouldn't want barry ferguson as the manager just now, but i'd sure as hell have him within the new structure probably as assistant head coach or first team coach to our main manager/ head coach! The guys an absolute winner and they types are very infectious to have around the place! A no brainer as far as i'm concerned!

26 Feb 2017 16:33:20
Spot on PB1. If ferguson gets the managers job we are in a worse situation than we thought. All this nonsense about he's a rangers man! So what. Halliday is a rangers fan but he's still 1 of the worst midfielders ever to play for us in the spl. Strip away the fact he's was a tremendous player for us and look at his managerial record. He isn't very good.

26 Feb 2017 19:48:36
Why are people slating ferguson a would have him as a coach at some level with rangers not the manager but having ex players like him around the training ground to make these players realise what it means to play for rangers can only be a good thing steven gerrard has no experience but he's a club legend and they have him at liverpool coaching because he knows the club and has passion for it this is what we need to give the club a lift

27 Feb 2017 01:57:56
Wasn't very infectious for his clyde players. If it was any other manager from that level being linked with managers job there would be uproar.

26 Feb 2017 12:26:24
Disgusted with the players, disgusted with the boards lackadaisical approach to appointing a new manager.

Dundee and Inverness are 6 points that could've gone a long way to gaining 2nd at the end of the season.

If we had a new gaffer in at this point I'm sure players would've reacted and we could've taken full point or 4 points from these games.

Instead we've sat back and let it happen, let out club be laughed at once again.

Get a grip and appoint a manager to install leadership within that current crop of players til the end of season.

Disgraceful lack of cohesion and direction from top to bottom.

Act now before it's too late.

26 Feb 2017 12:43:05
We have a board that doesn't act quick enough and make us a laughing stock we have players that can't play without a manager we had a manager in warbarton who bought or got players that would add value on and off the pitch am struggling to name any that's added value that he brought in really what is next for us

26 Feb 2017 14:00:55
Absolute Bollocks!

The club had no advanced warning that MW intended to bail out - if we want the best possible manager we have to go out and look for the best that might be available (and interested in joining us) .

Do you really think there are a load of top class managers out there just waiting for a contract to be sent for signing?

These things take time.2 weeks is nothing

26 Feb 2017 14:29:36
What players that warbarton has brought in have added value 20 months and no spl class player brought in with a resale value

26 Feb 2017 16:41:54
The board cannot win in this situation, as a supporter I hope the next appointment is a successful one, but the board do not have a crystal ball there is no guarantee whoever it is. I pray it is not Barry Ferguson, a winner, yeah right check the stats . Celtic took a punt with BR, at the moment it looks as if it has worked out but it, s hard to raelly gauge as the competition is so poor. Garry Rowet would be a bit of a gamble but surely our luck must change sooner or later. Mark Warburton may well go on to be successful elsewhere but too many poor decisions blighted his time at Rangers . we are all desperate to see real improvement on the pitch it's been 2 years of losing soft goals and missing chances . I stay optimistic, we will get back to where we belong it's just that the road is a bit rocky along the way, and when we do How sweet it will taste.

26 Feb 2017 11:57:03
Murty does seem out of his depth but this group of players should be capable of going to places like dundee and inverness and winning with or without a manager

26 Feb 2017 12:35:00
Do you think if ferguson comes in he might get murtys job as youth coach or be deboers assistant

26 Feb 2017 10:50:33
Barry ferguson to be de'boers assistant taking over in a few years when EPL comes calling.

26 Feb 2017 12:20:58
instead of manager get the 2 of them in our midfield even at there age couldn't do any worse than we already have

26 Feb 2017 16:15:03
Reading between andy devlin's report in the online sun this morning, frank de boer ain't getting the rangers job Abcd123!When you disect what the board have said about the shortlist of 3,then it certainly WON'T be de boer!

26 Feb 2017 10:45:57
Still no further forward with dof or manager and now our captain is publicly asking the board to hurry up, I hope this is all smoke and mirrors and we unveil a great management team. Barry Ferguson really, maybe he could get them fighting again.

26 Feb 2017 16:44:43
Our captain should be doing his talking on the pitch, if I was him I would be worried that one of the first decisions a new man will make is to appoint a captain that can get the most out of his teammates on the pitch.

26 Feb 2017 18:03:21
Totally agree with you about Wallace-when do you ever see him trying to gee up, cajole, shout at team mates who he thinks aren't trying hard enough or are out of position. All things you'd want from a leader on the pitch. Never from what I've seen. Give the armband to Miller for the rest of the season as I think he'd do all of these things.

26 Feb 2017 10:32:06
i think if mcleish or davies were in the boards thoughts either would be appointted by now both free agents so they would be in place. i reckon the dof will come in and a coach will follow very shortly. i have no idea who any will be but it needs to be as safe an appointment as we can afford. every manager has flaws and there rep can turn in an instant with a bad set of results but i'm sure the right appointment will be made that will be a consistency to the team.

26 Feb 2017 10:06:01
Guys, can someone clarify the negativity we have towards Billy Davies as a viable option as the next Rangers manager?
Opinion seems to be split on him amongst gers fans.
Reading about his past as a manager his record is excellent. Reaching the play offs on the championship with 79 points each time of trying, winning the most manager of the month trophys in a single season, and achieving premier league promotion with Derby.
Articles I've read talk about "being difficult to work with" as he's a bit of a control freak and bullish. But isn't that something we could do with? Sounds a bit like souness or jock Wallace!
This isn't because he was a 'rangers man'. I ask purely as a credible option to what we need.
The McLeish era delivered some fantastic memories and trophies but I also remember how bad we actually were at times and going back to him I don't believe would improve us in the long term.
De Boer sounds great on paper but let's be realistic. If we got him it would cost a fortune that we don't have, and if he did achieve it, how long do you think he would hang around?
Unless I'm missing something the best option of the three mentioned would be Billy Davies.
Thoughts?

26 Feb 2017 10:16:07
I have no doubt Davies is a decent manager but it's his off field carry on that worries me.
I'm sure I'm like every other Gets fan that's been getting pelters from mates at work over the past few years due to our predicament so I wouldn't readily welcome more due to our managers dodgy past.

I hate to give that crowd any credit what so ever but they have got their manager appointment right this time so we MUST get it right this time or we can forget getting anywhere near them for the next few years

If there's funds I would like to see a proper statement being made with the new manager

If the new head coach is someone like Barry Ferguson it will confirm to us all that we are in sh*t state and to start worrying

26 Feb 2017 11:07:50
Fraser, good post and agree with what you say.
But what is the off field stuff everyone talks about?
It's mentioned all the time but no one every says exactly what the problem is with him.
He spoke in an interview with the daily record about it a year or two ago and he claims it's a whispering campaign against him. Two sides to every story, and I'm definitely not Billy Davies PR guy! Just trying to understand what I'm missing as he seems like the sensible choice when looking at our situation.

26 Feb 2017 11:17:47
His personal life is a car crash!

26 Feb 2017 11:19:29
I am a Celtic supporter. Reading the above post about Billy Davis. Rangers can bring young managers in from foreign leagues who have done well, same as Celtic did with Ronny Dalia. Until they take a Celtic or Rangers job, they have no idea of the pressures. Ronnie left after 2 years and he still didn't get it. I would do everything I could to get McInness from Aberdeen.

I am not trying to wind anyone up, and what has happened at Rangers with Whyte, Green, McCoist etc is criminal. King has misled the fans with promises of £30mill plus personal investment so all that's happening is that fans are being disappointed time and time again.

So here it is. Don't expect any major investment, it's not coming. £11mill in loans still to be paid back. No money for players of any quality, so Rangers fans that's the truth. You can dream of billionaires investing but this is the SPL, it's not happening. Billionaires buy EPL teams.

So the fans need to play their part by not shouting for a managers head when he is working with poor players. Yes worst Rangers team I have seen but worst Rangers players. It won't change till you bring your youth through or pick up a few young players with potential.

26 Feb 2017 12:33:54
Hooly - no problem not taking him if that's the case but again, what is the personal life problems we hear about? I find it strange he's out of the game totally. He's clearly got it as a coach. So bizarre he's been out the game so long.

26 Feb 2017 13:27:25
Check out Tommy Sheridan, **** of the Earth and you will find Billy Davies name comes up in the commentary!

26 Feb 2017 16:38:57
I don't care that he's friendly with tommy sheridan! I know they're friendly as they come from the same neck of the woods! Its his ability to coach us that i'm interested in, and imo he without question has the ability to be our manager/ head coach! Without a doubt!

26 Feb 2017 16:54:09
Some of our supporters clearly have little ambition when they want one of life's failures like Davies in charge of Rangers! What is more they clearly don't understand that an Institution like Rangers FC that has seen itself degraded with creatures like Green and Whyte in control would be stooping to a new low in appointing Tommy Sheridan's buddy given all the stories that surfaced during the aforementioned's trial!

26 Feb 2017 04:50:12
I am first time doing anything like this am crap with computer but the amount of negative about barry ferguson why would it be so bad to get him in for 6month he's has rangers bumping in his blood like the rest of us. that what wee need a die hard to get the team going come.

26 Feb 2017 08:20:14
That you Barry?

26 Feb 2017 08:21:16
Your right mate. you are crap with a computer!

26 Feb 2017 08:22:51
Not a comment about Fergusons abilities but Halliday is a die hard Rangers fan, we don't need a die hard; we need a good manager who understands Rangers.

26 Feb 2017 08:41:27
Hill Billy! Stop being a knob, the guy has posted his opinion! It's not for you to slate someone's computer literacy

26 Feb 2017 09:03:23
Ferguson as manager get a grip.

26 Feb 2017 09:39:52
Barry would be ideal in the changing room at this moment in time, he has more idea and passion than Murty, saying that so have I. so why not get him in now till we sort out a manager. This seasons done . That shower have not kicked a ball since thalway through the championship last season, those that played then can play a lot better than the dross I am watching now week in week out.

26 Feb 2017 10:03:38
I wish everyone would get off this dyed in the wool rangers man p1ss. Does anyone really think Brenda is a hard core celtic fan, Mourinho a Man Utd fan, Klopp a Liverpool fan, Conte a Chelsea fan . and on and on . Just because people are a fan of the club won't make them try harder or do a better job " Halliday and Mcoist are prime examples"
We need a manager who will have a scouting network ready to roll
We need better players than the 3rd division boys we have been bringing in
We need a manager that will develop our youth and bring in young talent.
We need to be patient with our next manager
I recon this season has shown us we won't be back challenging for a while. I'm ok with that as long as we do it right DON'T get back into financial trouble and start developing our own youngsters.

26 Feb 2017 10:09:03
How do you know he isn't up to the job, get Barry in now. he would sort that lot right out. give him a chance to the end of the season

26 Feb 2017 10:22:00
Might get criticised for this but if we are going to appoint a caretaker manager why not John Brown? Did a good job at Dundee and got them playing better. Also there is no way he would tolerate the half hearted performances currently being seen.

26 Feb 2017 11:20:52
Welcome chicRfc. I agree that Ferguson is a die hard and that's what a lot of fans think we need. Don't think he's the answer though. However he would not be any better or worse than what we have at moment and that's not being disrespectful to Murty.
