26 Jul 2016 23:37:16
rhodes would bang goals in for gers, poacher is what we need, people are very critical of rhodes for scotland. but he scores or assists in a goal nearly all the time. van persie would be a dream but get real guys like rhodes are ok for a sason loan.

27 Jul 2016 07:28:37
rhodes is a 12million pound striker who has scored a barrell load of foals at every club he's played for and has finally got a chance at the prem. why would he come to Scotland? most people are critical of Strachan not playing the boy rather than him playing for Scotland!

26 Jul 2016 22:41:56
Right first time posting on here and this is only my rumour what about big balloteli for the Bears?

26 Jul 2016 22:54:26
How could we afford his wages?

26 Jul 2016 23:34:16
Hes absolutely rotten, has bad attitude and has ridiculous wage demands, he's the most overated player of past 5 years IMO and wouldn't suit our style either.

27 Jul 2016 02:35:59
Mario or Conrad?!

27 Jul 2016 07:57:02
Imagine having Balotelli and Barton in the same team, no team would want to play us hahaa.

27 Jul 2016 08:14:45
Theglasgowranger

Think your being very harsh calling him rotten. You don't play for the clubs he has played for being rotten. However agree about the wages part and the move is clearly pie in the sky.

27 Jul 2016 17:06:34
If Brenda doesn't want him, after managing him before, then why would we take him? Just imagine him in the dressing room, absolutely no chance.

26 Jul 2016 22:33:23
right people who's the better player mckay right now or macleod pre injury?

26 Jul 2016 22:55:36
McKay is a winger MacLeod is a centre mid so can't say.

27 Jul 2016 06:01:57
Macleod stood out among a group of players who ranged from average to rank rotten. Mckay is standing out in a team of what I would say are much higher quality players. I would rank Macleod as perhaps being on par with Halliday.

27 Jul 2016 11:02:29
Macloed was miles ahead of halliday. Boy was class.

27 Jul 2016 13:39:29
think both of them are great players with great futures but for me if I had to pick one it would defo be mckay.

27 Jul 2016 14:07:16
How was Macleod miles ahead of a player who scored more goals than him/ in a higher league and has much more playing experience in Championship and league 1 in the English league? The only thing Macleod has kicked in a year was a pothole and it took him out for 8months! Sorry but Macleod looked good for us because he played with energy and passion. Which was sorely lacking in just about everyone else.

27 Jul 2016 14:41:54
Mckay by a country mile.

27 Jul 2016 17:01:04
Going by contribution regardless of position, McKay, although MacLeod played well in a worse Rangers team than the one McKay is in.

26 Jul 2016 22:00:37
I personally think our current crop of youngsters outwith McKay and Macleod are fairly over rated. You compare Thompson to Rossiter and its night and day you can evidently tell what player is the highly rated youngster and what player is going out on loan.

It's the way people talk on social media about their disappointed they aren't getting a chance without actually realising they just aren't good enough. There's a reason why Rossiter will feature prominently in the first team and that Hardie/ Walsh/ Thompson won't. MW is very outspoken about his footballing philosophy and its clear for all to hear "If the young boys are good enough they will play. "

I watch development games from time to time on Rangers TV and we are as a squad very poor considering we should be one of the top two teams in Scotland for developing and attracting talent. Since MW has came in we have been getting better and his approach to training, stage of physical development over age, is for me definitely the right direction but it will be years before we gain the fruits from the hard work that's been laid in the background from our expert management team.

There is nothing stopping these players from further developing that's the beauty of youth players however I just don't see them ever making the Rangers first team. Hardie is no better than Hemming's was at that stage and although Hemming's has and still is developing into a better player he isn't the prolific striker Rangers would have hoped and was appropriately shipped out to develop elsewhere when he didn't make the bar. Hardie himself can finish but lacks physicality and real pace to trouble a defence but with Dodoo arriving for me this could be the last season for Hardie it's really make or break time.

Walsh for me of the three is the most likely to make it. When you watch Walsh play you can see the guy possess talent. He can dribble and is a great crosser of the ball. However if I am realistic do I see him breaking into the first team the way McKay has especially with our depth in that position? No personally I don't.

Thompson's direct comparison for me comes from a player who is of a similar age and a similar position and that is Rossiter. I've seen Rossiter for thirty minutes in a Rangers shirt and its clear to me and anyone else who seen him that he just has something about him you can see clearly that he is special however when we see Thompson play do we get a similar impression? I don't think so.

I'm by no means saying they are bad players or that they won't make it in professional football or anything close to that my opinion is formed on whether I think they could make a similar impact on the first team as McKay or Macleod did.

It's going to be years before we start seeing the success from the MW era in terms of direct youth development . let's just hope he's here for the long term. Anyone any thoughts on who they think is the next up and coming talent at Rangers?

26 Jul 2016 22:28:21
I agree with some of what your saying Ross, about there being a real difference in quality compared to the lads brought up from England, but I disagree with you that none of these players have a chance of making it.
I think and hope that the Manager brought in the likes of Barton and Kranjcar, who are nearing the end of their careers, as a short term fix and to push guys like Halliday and Holt on with their influence. Once Barton and Niko retire or move on I'd like to think by that time our youngsters would have had some SPFL loan experience and would be ready to fight for a place.
Maybe you're right though and we won't see the benefit of the new regimes methods till the next younger batch of players at Murray Park emerge. To be fair though they did bring Thompson in, and Hardie has scored a phenomenal amount of goals at every level he's played at, so maybe we're being a bit harsh.

26 Jul 2016 23:39:55
In terms of potential Liam Burt is the player I think could develop into 1st team player.
Hes only 17, is one of Scotland U19's top plsyers, has already made 1st team debut and is far too good for the guys he pkays against in U19's ai think he will be loaned out this time nxt year while only 18 if not sooner and could be a top top player.

27 Jul 2016 09:06:37
Burt I can agree with and that reiterates the clear difference in quality imo.

27 Jul 2016 12:43:21
Love when my post gets dislikes in reality what I'm saying is what the manager is thinking. He has made it abundantly clear that if players are good enough age isn't a problem (young or old) and for me with the lack of appearances in the first team and consistent loan time points to them just not being good enough YET. I said that of course the can develop and prove me wrong I just wish people would share why they disagree and think they can develop into talented players cause I just don't see it. I reiterate look at McKay, Rossiter, Dom Ball and Dodoo as the bench mark they aren't half as talented as these players. Hoping we get the boy Knox at some point as he is exactly the kind of talent our academy should be aspiring to produce every year. With our facilities, finances relative to the rest of the Scottish game and the attraction our club brings, should allow us to develop top talents like McKay consistently. Futures bright tho and I'm of course open to being proven wrong by these players I just personally don't see what all the hype and disappointment surrounding them is.

27 Jul 2016 13:51:26
its good to see players come through the ranks, I love it as much as any other ranger.
It saves us money and most of the time they are rangers through and through.
however I wouldn't want to sacrifice any league time to these players until they are proven, in that I mean cup games
I really believe that that's where our youngsters deserve their shot we shouldn't be playing the same team in three comps so i'd like to see our first picks playing in the league and our second choice players playing in the cup games.

27 Jul 2016 15:52:19
I have to say Hemmings was a victim of Allys inability to see a player, he could have developed into a very dangerous striker under the right coach. ? He may still, I would welcome him back absolutely. though I would think warbs has his own ideas on the boys ability, and he would obviously know more than me, still I see the boy going on to bigger clubs than Dundee?

26 Jul 2016 21:16:48
where are yous guys getting this "new striker" info? Dodoo is our "New Striker" its not RVP or Pololski or laffoutloud or ings! jeezo man.

26 Jul 2016 22:49:17
U hud yer heid buried in the sand? started with Tom Miller rangers t. v commentator saying, on monday night, that our next signing would be "sensational and eclipse every signing so far". jeez.

26 Jul 2016 22:50:58
Dodoo isn't our number 7 and unless We've retired it there's a a blue jersey with said number on it to be filled.

27 Jul 2016 13:52:37
any idea on who that could be.

26 Jul 2016 19:51:37
Rightly we rave on these rumours pages about how good joey barton, niko kranjcar and jordan rossiter are but we imo may have the best of the lot on our hands, our no.10 young barrie mckay is a terrific skillful footballer with everything to go on and be a helluva footballer who can play at the highest level with the biggest of football clubs, said on here repeatedly that mckay glides past opponents with ease, yes it was only stranraer, I'll say it before someone else does but remember one thing, wasn't it the same barrie mckay who tore celtic apart in the cup semi in april and got man of the match because celtic had no answer to this tremendous talent, a game in which he was man of the match in by a mile, fellow bears who doubt young mckay my message to you is enjoy him while we have him as our player because we won't have him long, trust me!

26 Jul 2016 20:39:27
Warbs15

It's not that people doubt him it's just he hasn't been tested at the highest level consistently. Let's see how he gets on this season before making predictions about how good he will be.

26 Jul 2016 20:50:06
Think we all agree BM is a fantastic player and his confidence level and career has been transformed with the support and coaching of MW and the Mgt Team. Yes still think about sidestepping past Broonie and scoring in the cup final. Really looking forward this season to him performing consistently at the higher level and with Barton and Kranjcar to learn from daily he has a great opportunity to kick on. Also good that he received international recognition. let's enjoy the whole team this season it could be a special one.

26 Jul 2016 20:54:43
Well said Warbs. Agree totally. Let's enjoy the lad's play while he's here because if he continues to develop in the way he has he will be off to England or abroad in search of riches. The management team must take some credit as well as it seems to me Barrie has really knuckle down and has added extra dimensions to his play. Also he is as fit as a butcher's dog.

26 Jul 2016 21:05:24
i agree with you biffo. Let's see how he performs week in week out.

26 Jul 2016 22:07:30
Do u guys remember the nonsense on here last season when folk were accusing mckay of having no pace! The wee guy is as good a player as I've seen produced by rangers in a long time.

27 Jul 2016 07:48:31
there were people on here, some still here, last season saying mckay should be released and slating other folk for saying she should get game time because he "failed at morton". how wrong were they.

27 Jul 2016 08:17:26
Cee

Who were the people saying he should be released?

27 Jul 2016 09:15:05
biffo is there any Celtic player you would take in place of bm?

27 Jul 2016 17:07:38
He has yet to be tested over a full season, in top division, billy Davies was a superstar some games, so was Ian mccall, and many others. I really like Barry, but common sense tells you to Wait and see.

26 Jul 2016 18:54:22
Rangers youngster Ryan Hardie has also joined St Mirren on loan deal. I personally really rate young Hardie and think he hasn't had that much of a chance (meaning game time for Rangers) but expect this to change next year once Miller hangs up his boots or is not offered a new contract, i personally think he could be a great player given a run in the first team in future, What is other gers opinions on this?

26 Jul 2016 19:14:50
I'm really disappointed that he hasn't been given a chance, especially last season.

Hopefully he does well for st mirren- especially if he can score enough to keep Celtic of Edinburgh and Celtic feeder utd in the championship for at least another season.

26 Jul 2016 21:06:28
Loan deal is only to January so Warbs might recall him then depending on injuries and form.

27 Jul 2016 13:07:07
I don't think he's going to make it with the Gers. I'd love the boy to prove me wrong as I thought McKay had gone too and now look. If he can just really drive into the box more and with more belief and conviction then we have a superstar on our hands. (McKay I mean)

26 Jul 2016 17:48:40
Lewis McLeod anyone?

26 Jul 2016 19:21:51
Would take him in a heartbeat but too many midfielders why squander money when there is other areas for improvement.

26 Jul 2016 16:54:17
Press conference 2 most invite only was happening any one now.

26 Jul 2016 17:24:41
What?

26 Jul 2016 17:34:56
What are you saying sanny?

26 Jul 2016 17:57:10
Is this some form of riddle?

26 Jul 2016 17:51:23
There's a press conference it's invited only what is happening does anyone know. I think that's what he/ she is trying to say?

26 Jul 2016 18:24:34
I think that started as a joke on twitter that spiers and English where invited to a press conference by Paul murray.

26 Jul 2016 19:05:51
I think people need to stop believing everything they read on Twitter.

26 Jul 2016 19:16:53
Iv always seen Twitter as a platform for idiots. Not saying it doesn't have its place but it is full of nonsense.

26 Jul 2016 16:50:07
I have absolutely no foundation but I would not rule out the Podolski rumour. It seems very far fetched as far as wages are concerned, but who knows, he's a fan, so why not. However do we need another wide player, or would he play up front?

26 Jul 2016 17:29:01
Don't we have significant German shareholder investment in the club?

26 Jul 2016 18:26:36
Dont know anything about the rumour but your right he is a fan.

26 Jul 2016 18:46:01
@Fd you're thinking of Felix McGath he bought shares.

27 Jul 2016 17:08:05
Don't think its significant amounts tho, and why would that have a bearing on Podolski coming here? And what kind of Rangers fan is he? A st holder? A regular supporter? Or somebody who said something to a newspaper about liking Rangers?

26 Jul 2016 15:28:21
what about Rhodes on loan. middlesborough signed negredo.

26 Jul 2016 18:22:38
Thats WHO RVP was supposed to be going to? i'm on the sceptical side but it is starting to look at least possible.

26 Jul 2016 14:44:35
Rudy gestede apparantly doing the rumours now.

26 Jul 2016 14:47:18
He'd be a great signing but I can't see it.

26 Jul 2016 14:52:05
I have my doubts but this would be ideal IMO.

26 Jul 2016 22:11:13
Signed for villa on a five year deal this time last year for reported 6 mil I highly doubt he's the one.

26 Jul 2016 14:03:26
Free agent Martin Caceres to Rangers!

26 Jul 2016 14:32:57
now that would certainly be sensational, can't see it tho.

26 Jul 2016 14:59:57
Achilles tendon rupture injury not expected to return till October this year. Don't think it'll be a starter.

26 Jul 2016 16:24:55
Also reported interest from AC Milan!

26 Jul 2016 13:58:31
4 games 4 shots on target against us? Bad defence? Haha have to laugh at some of the comments I thought Kiernan looked the part last night and also Wilson looked good in fact the whole team did . Can't wait to see crooks as well! I honestly believe that if some of the team's we have played so far had tried to attack us we would have at least doubled the scoring! What's going to happen when they all settle in and gel? Very exciting times for us bears!

26 Jul 2016 14:02:49
U do realise Stranraer are part time players. Bigger tests to come. If motherwell would of had a decent striker they would of scored 3 are 4 goals against us.

26 Jul 2016 14:26:53
Dundee have supposedly good strikers they couldn't do it last season? I think with the a bit more time together our team will prove to be very hard to play against and there aren't too many good strikers in Scotland's priemership!

26 Jul 2016 14:53:18
Thought Barton made a big difference to our defenders last night.

26 Jul 2016 15:48:04
They were up against christian nade probably 1 of the laziest strikers around i reckon i could put a shift in against him.

26 Jul 2016 15:58:49
The Well game was just rustiness, it was the 2nd game of pre season. I think Barton or Rossiter will protect our CB's now no matter who starts. Wilson and Kiernan were both better last year against SPFL opposition imo.

26 Jul 2016 16:08:21
Briangersfan

We let plenty of goals in against championship sides Hibs and Falkirk.

26 Jul 2016 16:55:38
Biffo we also scored more too! From what I have seen so far we have the basis for a premiership winning side this season! When you have statements from players like niko about how they all want to do it for the club and the fans I for one believe every word of it it is showing on the field already!

26 Jul 2016 17:12:26
It's embarrassing that Brianrangers thinks our defence is fine with Wilson and Kiernan together we will get badly found out against better teams anybody that knows anything about football can see this. we need a big commanding centre half . although midfield looking good . some people are deluded.

26 Jul 2016 17:57:13
George I said they had a good game I never said anything about them as a partnership get your facts right mate if Mark w pics them to play then that is good enough for me george.

26 Jul 2016 18:54:00
Sorry mate pick they 2 and we will get found out their s. e . maybe hill with one of them even better another good centre half . they are an accident waiting to happen sayin that think he will ship somebody else in mw is a great manager just don't like those two together.

26 Jul 2016 13:29:12
Rafel Van Der Vart!

He been told by Real Bet he no longer needed, think he been let go by them.

He is an attacking player, and experienced, fits MW mould for a model pro and playing football.

Would imagine his wages were not massive in Spain, might be willing to come to us for 20K per week.

Now that my fellow bears would top barton but Krank is just as good IMO, it won't be long before he gets the laudrup bows from the fans, the guy will be a class act for us!

But Van Der Vart is a real player and I think more likely than RVP or Padolski !

However out the 3 a would take padolski!

thoughts on Van Der Vart?

26 Jul 2016 15:34:05
we need a striker.

26 Jul 2016 12:03:41
Iv been saying for weeks now how good rossiter is', and is going to make Rangers millions, but wait till use see Barton, rossiter and crooks in the midfield 3,crooks is an outstanding buy and I can't wait for him to get fit, he's over 6ft but he's class with the ball at his feet, we have signed some quality young players this summer without spending a fortune, and with the rumour going round that the next signing will top the lot I'm so excited, what a squad were building, but as I said I can't wait till crooks is fit, this guy is going to surprise people who haven't seen him play, good times to be a gers fan, we've had the bad, now comes the good.

26 Jul 2016 12:22:47
Delboy9 in Warbs We Trust😊 Couldn't agree more. I think our manager is going to have a few sleepless nights picking the team there is that many good player's wanting to start and if he adds a couple more if he can keep everybody onside and happy to wait there chance we are going to be a right good side.

26 Jul 2016 11:26:09
(First Post) . Anyone agree with me in saying that Joe Dodoo looks like he will be something special this season?

26 Jul 2016 13:13:23
if he plays out on the right i think he will have a great season i don't think he has the maturity to play through the middle, what i mean by that is that the boy likes to get his head down and run at people which is suited more for a winger.

26 Jul 2016 16:23:41
CC54. Not seen that yet. I don't think he was particularly special v either ES or S which is slightly concerning given their standing. However, young lad, first games for the club, plenty to work on so here's hoping.

Welcome aboard.

26 Jul 2016 11:19:04
Doesn't it feel great to be Ger these days. Know its early doors and we need to patient and keep feet on the ground, but for the first time in years the sun is shining! Keep up the great work MW and the management team, and keep supporting us DK and the Board. Looking forward to a great season.

26 Jul 2016 11:37:14
Fd this is the best I've ever felt being a Rangers fan going into a season. Maybe it's just seeing where we've been and knowing where we're headed.
There's been seasons when I knew we were going to win the league, this year I don't know for certain but if we manage it I think Celtic will struggle to recover. If their squad falls short they will have an even harder job offloading players. They can't get rid of the deadwood now as champions because all their players are tied down to long deals, they would have no chance as losers.
If they stutter in the league and then we beat them at Celtic park, I honestly think they could crumble. Not having any competition for years has seriously damaged their mind sets I think, that's why they've been bottling it in all the big games and why their manager still lost his job after winning the league.
In contrast our team looks hungry, dangerous, capable of keeping possession and most importantly we have various line ups that can all cause trouble. If we manage to sign Mariappa and a Striker of genuine quality (not that we necessarily need one imo) we will be favourites in my mind. Celtic fans are crying out for guys like Henderson, Allan and Christie to get a chance because they're midfield looks terrible. None of them would even make our bench!

26 Jul 2016 13:19:24
got to agree with you there recbob we have a far superior mid field and the goals our that comes from all over our team means we don't need sum1 to bang in 30 - 40 a season i would just like a fast and smart cb emphasisi on the fast as we have no pace there just now and quicker teams will capitalize on that! so just one signing for me and it has to be a quality cb.

26 Jul 2016 10:03:51
At the game last night i thought young Rossiter impressed when he came on and reminded me of Barry Ferguson when he was young (Gallus) lol.
Watched the recording this morning, and him in particular, and i now see him more like Fletcher in his day at Manu. Constantly making himself available and never wasted a pass and prepared to get stuck in.

This lad imo is a real gem in the making.

Your thoughts?

26 Jul 2016 11:21:29
I find it hard to compare him to fletcher or fergie as I've only seen him play for rangers for 30 mins but maybe down the line you can draw comparison.

26 Jul 2016 11:21:29

26 Jul 2016 11:45:54
I've seen the boy play for Liverpool a few times and England u19's at the Euro's and I think gosman is spot on with the Fergie comparison. We didn't see him play any long balls last night but just wait till you do, he can land a cross field ball on a hapeney.
The Liverpool fans have been calling him the new Gerrard for years, and whilst I can see some comparisons due to his tackling and long range passing, I think somewhere in between the two is more accurate. And let's face it it's not a bad place to be.
He will be the signing of the century for us, he's that good. Between him, Windass and Dodoo we have uncovered some of the best young talent in English football for 250k each and hopefully Crooks proves to be as good as well. Add them to young McKay and we have THE best young talent in the country right now, imo.

26 Jul 2016 12:20:16
It's certainly going to be good value for the paying supporter watching some good players play really good attacking football.

26 Jul 2016 12:47:57
Fletcher was rank and couldn't even tackle hope he turns out better than him.

26 Jul 2016 13:25:30
fletcher of man u was rank? are u serious mate!
one of the first names on the teamsheet when he was fit and u say he was "rank"? wow

anyway i thought he was like a young barry ferguson when i saw him for the England unders and when i saw him last night he has that energy barry had when he was younger and will be worth millions in a couple of years time.

26 Jul 2016 15:35:23
it's easy to look descent with Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick etc. around you. all he did was run around and try Hollywood passes, from what I've seen of rossiter he looks like he is 10x the smarter player than a player like Fletcher and he can tackle.

26 Jul 2016 07:58:57
At least six weeks ago I said lukas podolski will be a Rangers player and I go shot out the air like the Luftwaffe. Watch this space.

26 Jul 2016 09:25:26
Ive heard the same however this can only be classed as rumour and attached to his congratulatory tweet when we won the Championship. Hope its true, would be a great signing!

26 Jul 2016 11:46:29
Podilski would be a monster signing, boy would rip it up here!

26 Jul 2016 13:08:51
the podolski rumors are really picking up, don't know if people are just jumping on what tom Miller said the other night.

26 Jul 2016 13:26:39
think he could be magic but what wages is he on and is he out of contract?

26 Jul 2016 15:35:50
sometimes players just need to play but I think there would be plenty of clubs after him lol.

26 Jul 2016 07:20:53
Just a point on the RVP rumours, how much would the transfer fee be because he still has 2 years on his contract.

26 Jul 2016 10:30:34
Fenerbache paid 4.7 for him, he is unhappy and wants to leave so you never know. We will just have to wait and see who it is, for all we know it's a defender.

26 Jul 2016 12:21:44

Why are we still advertising sports direct around our stadium and in the post match interview area. We should be distancing ourselves from fat Ashley's company.

If you have a sponsorship deal/ contract in place then you have to oblige. That fatman has just that in place.

Not sure I was watching the same game for Waghorn to be named man of the match but what surprised me was what a difference to our style of play Joey Barton brings. It was a real eye opener as I had no idea he was that good.
