Still people are saying they need to be punished!

Because of Whyte withholding Paye and NI the following-

1) administration
2) 10 point deduction
3) £160k fine
4) Transfer embargo - unlawful
5) threats of expulsion, extinction, suspension
6) HMRC turn down CVA
7) liquidation
8) 3 years Europe ban
9) newco not admitted to SPL
10) newco lose practically all of first team for nothing
11) probable third division
12) season ticket sales huge reductions
13) no transfer income
14) no players and no money to buy replacements
15) probable administration for newco in near future

Now some of you will point out that some were consequences and not punishments but let me say that every one of these has a direct link to Whyte not paying HMRC , a snowball effect and as a lifelong Rangers fan they sure do feel like punishments.

In the space of four months we have been ripped apart and I don't think the newco will survive at all. Those crooks that previously owned our club have gone, the players have gone, and the ones remaining are us the fans, who have done nothing.
Murray, Whyte aren't as yet being punished and I would suggest it will be unlikely that they will, yet the true heart of the club, us , we are being punished.

Incredibly the only ones that are not punishing the newco for the sins of oldco are HMRC, the very organisation that the problem was with.

We will get the usual replies to this post, people still having a pop. We have heard it all before, constantly for the last four months, and the bottom line is this -

If you support Rangers you are pig sick, if you support Celtic you are loving it, if you support any other Scottish team you are paying us back for years of beatings. I am afraid to say that is Scotland. Perhaps we should remember that football is a game, but no the tribal rubbish comes to the fore.

What a narrow minded, bigoted lot we all are, and in the meantime the game that we all love is going to die a grim death.

Not many of us if truth be told would be any different if the situation was reversed, the Celtic fans would hurt as much as I am hurting, me and the Rangers fans would be having a pop. If my 10 year old son and his pals behaved like this he would be in trouble from me.

It is too late now to resolve this mess but I really feel that in five years time the game will be much poorer as a direct consequence of what's happening now, I hope the whole of Scottish football does not live to regret the decisions they are making now. I fear it will.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

I keep hearing the fans have done nothing, this is rubbish who were the people who have demanded success for the last 20 years? THE FANS.

Agree5 Disagree3

An excellent well considered post.If the worst comes to the worst take inspiration from AFC Wimbledon or FC United. For what its worth, murray and whyte will not walk away from this unscathed. The liquidators also might have some questions for Duff & Phelps. Shame for all the decent fans, always the ones who pay sadly...........green jhedi

Agree5 Disagree2

They are consequences, I don't doubt for one minute they feel like punishments, as you say they are all resultant from Whyte's shambolic time as chairman but the way a certain element of the Rangers support has lashed out at anything meted out to the club has been bewildering. Mostly self-inflicted mate by guys you either welcomed, supported, celebrated with or enthusiastically defended when others were more wary. Not the fans fault in many respects, the endless loyalty, support, optimism that goes hand in hand with football but Murray bought off the press and Whyte played the support against it and the rest, alas, is history.

Agree5 Disagree0

1) Due to Rangers chairman.
2) Consequence of Rangers chairman's actions.
3) Same as 2
4) Due to bringing the game into disrepute "only match fixing was worse".
5) Due to insanely challenging a lenient (however unlawful) sanction and dragging the whole thing on longer and potentially involving FIFA.
6) Didn't offer anywhere near enough cash, should have had fire sale in February to bring some in. HMRC looked on it dimly due to it being perceived as avoidance/evasion rather than just going bust.
7) Consequence of 6.
8) Consequence of 7.
9) Clubs not enamoured by EBT's/ two contracts. Challenging SFA in court. Trying to sign Cousin (need I go on?)
10) Consequence of 6,7,8 and 9 I'd imagine.
11) I'd say first in Regan has his way. But due to liquidation, good enough for Livingston then so be it.
12) Due to uncertainty from most of above and most certainly impacted by Walter's poor time keeping consortium.
13) I reference you again to number 7
14) First part - reference 7 again, second part - You just done creditors for near £135m I'd see a transfer budget as a bonus right now.
15) Cant blame anyone for new owner not having deep pockets.

Not a hell of a lot of mud sticking to outside forces there, mostly inflicted from within I'd suggest. So for all the decisions Scottish football has to make, and your right they could well regret them, Rangers have either led them to this point or have forced them to act in each and every example you mentioned.

Agree3 Disagree2

1) I am sorry what fans don't demand success, we the fans can be blamed for much throughout the years, but the only criticism that can be made of the fans is that they did not take to the streets months ago and demand change as Celtic fans did.

Agree3 Disagree1

Your right, in part. No punishments yet, all consequences. The punishments are yet to come - though clearly watered down by the Glasgow mafia.

I declare now, I loved Scottish Football in general, and Aberdeen Football Club in particular, when Arthur Montford and Archie MacPherson shared the weekends games, when football was a 3:00PM Saturday affair and my team won in europe (twice) with a home grown team of youngsters, managed by a man hounded from the former Glasgow Rangers (RIP) because he married a woman of the faith not agreeable to the bigots.

Agree5 Disagree2

Only 3 and 4 are punishments: the former won't be paid and the latter was overturned and new punishment awaits. The rest are consequences.

Agree2 Disagree0

OP, it is a long time since you last posted this nonsense, over a week maybe, although I see you've changed the format a little.
Still wrong.
Al

Agree1 Disagree0

@2 Excuse me, even if the fans did demand success, what they didn't demand was for RANGERS TO CHEAT in the process. Celtic fans also demand success from Celtic, so you're exactly the same as us in that respects.

The most successful club in the world, one of the biggest names in the world of football, millions of fans worldwide, and today weve been reduced to rubble with Mcgregor, Davis, Laferty, & Ness leaving, and Aluko, Mcabe, Naismith and Whittaker leaving 2 days ago! 7 of the 8 named are boyhood rangers fans, where are they when we need them most!? Ally said "we don't do walking away"! It seems some do!

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Timothy here, everything you say is correct, except one . you have to put the word domestic after successful . you cant believe you are a more successful club than , liverpool, real, barca, bayern, man.u, and of course celtic and all the rest that have been european champions. you will even lose the domestic part when you are stripped of 17 trophies.

26 Jun 2012 22:37:09
Think we all need to remember that no one is leaving/walking away as none of these Players are under contract with sevco. That being said it's sad to see so many of them want to go else where. Can't blame them though.

26 Jun 2012 22:32:28
Celtic fan here, i know i know but i want to ask a serious question.
I like a look on Rangers Media and here and these boys are taking a serious pounding, it would appear to just fall short of physical threats but just. I understand the upset and hurt but i am wondering why should they stay?
Most fans on here wanted to pay the creditors but have used the "look, CVA's and liquidation happen all the time in business, its the law and the way of the world etc" so the debt was ditched. I have also seen all over the place that nobody blames them for leaving because it is a short career and they are internationals etc etc but the prevailing opinion seems to be they should have transferred so that newco could get the money for them. How is that acceptable when old co, who paid the fees in, owes money? Why should these players give up a payday so that newco can get money, i really dont get that.
Have always said all along i dont want Rangers to die, still dont but would prefer some of the vitriol and bile to stop, people are watching, people are judging, none of us are showing up well.
Nevis

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Don't just attack rangers media , the same bile and nonsense is posted on that kerrydale site as well, there's complete numpties on both sides.

Agree3 Disagree4

As a season ticket holder for forty years I am hurting so much, they are next to my family, good friends, my business, Rangers are the most important thing in my life. I am sure you can imagine what this would be like if it was your club in this mess. People are hurting big time, not Murray, not Whyte, just the fans. We have some real scum that follow us, as I witnessed first hand in Manchester. I was ashamed to be a Rangers fan that night.
People are hurting and the players leaving are an easy target, so they are getting it in the neck. However if you or I were in their position we would do the same. They are footballers for a living, they have a short career, they are not the fans who turn up every week, that would pay the club for a game. This is their business, would you do business with this club or go elsewhere and earn twice as much with no hassle.

Agree5 Disagree0

Just to be clear I only reference rangers media in respect of the players leaving, totally agree both sides have pond scum that see the jersey as a misguided cause, wasn't an rm dig mate it was aimed at us all.
Nevis

Agree4 Disagree0

@1: granted, but Celtic sites don't have anything to do with your players refusing to transfer to newco so why bring them up here.

Agree2 Disagree2

One thing about this CVAs/liquidations happen all time. While that is true, generally the company coming out of Administration / Liquaidation is cream crackered, staggers on for a bit and then finally dies. Some times the company is hoovered up by one of the big boys b but thats your best hope.

This is like one of those awful films when you see a whale being killed by harpoon after harpoon. Rangers are dead in the water and everyone throwing their own harpoons at us. I have no doubt football will still be at ibrox but in what league, what team, who in charge, no idea, but it won't be the gers i have followed man and boy.

This is by no means triumphalism merely an honest open question to Rangers fans. Given the events unfolding over the past 24 hours or so surely it is time for Rangers fans to realise that the real villans of this pantomime are not Celtic, not SPL teams, not SFL teams, not the SFA, HMRC, SFA panels, SFA sponsors, not the creditors, dare I say not even Sky. EVERY huge tumultous disaster since February 13th and before has been IN HOUSE. Murray, Whyte, Smith's untimely appearance which has caused more harm than good, Hugh Adam's EBT revelation, D&P and ultimately, worst of all for some of you no doubt, a bunch of players who evidently DO WALK AWAY. By all accounts Stan Petrov signed a new contract with Celtic three months before he left, knowing full well he would lose out on a bigger signing on fee to Villa and that the club would get more cash. I truly expected a number of Rangers better players to maybe do the same. So for the vast majority of Rangers woes of late, I would urge you to look more towards previous Govan inhabitants than elsewhere.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

They may not be to blame but some support and assistence in our hour of need would have been appreciated not a kick in the teeth when we are on our knees, we have contributed to scottish football for 140 years which appears to have been forgotten rather quickly by all the above mentioned and self rightgeous t**ts like you expect us not to be bitter if we come back aye right

Remember this statement from the RST in 2009 all the banners "Murray Must Go" well I didn't agree with it, Murray has done wrong, but we as fans also rushed him into selling to Whyte and are now reaping what we sowed!

RANGERS fans groups today launched a "We Deserve Better" campaign to try and pile the pressure on the club's board.

Chairman Sir David Murray's decision to sell off one of his leading players this month to balance the books has been met with a furious reaction from some Gers fans - who held a banner during last night's win over St Johnstone asking him to quit the club.

The agreed sale of striker Kris Boyd to Birmingham City in a £3.8m deal was the final straw for many and various groups such as the Rangers Supporters Trust and the Blue Order have now issued a statement urging supporters clubs and fans to unite and let the club know their feelings.
advertisement

Trust chief David Edgar said today: "This isn't a campaign to get the chairman out or anything like that.

"We know he is in a situation where he hasn't been able to find a buyer for the club but we want to know what direction the club is moving in and we're looking for improvements."

The statement lists areas in which he says supporters are concerned with and want explanations and they are as follows;

- Only 2 league titles in 8 seasons

- Only 2 cups won in last 3 full seasons

- Losing to the worst European opponents faced since Valletta in 1983

- A state of the art training facility, yet no advancements in technique or set plays

- No discernible strategic vision, either on or off the pitch

- No long-term transfer or team-building plan

- Only two youth players (McGregor and Hutton) of genuine quality produced in the last decade

- Selling first team players to cover losses previously made on fringe players

- Consistent failure to move fringe players on for reasonable transfer fees

- Lucrative pay-offs for failed players - Failure to profit from our most lucrative ever season

- Failure to engage with or interact with the support in any meaningful way

- Treating Rangers fans with disdain as customers instead of valuing and working with them as supporters and part of the Rangers family

- Inability to either attract inward investment, or to convince fans to invest in any meaningful way

- Reduction in the status of our club from leading football force in the land, to almost social pariah status through a failure to challenge those seeking to link Rangers with sectarianism

- A PR operation which only acts when senior club figures are personally criticised and all too often fails to defend the Rangers support

- Fan morale lower than at any time in the past 24 year

This is exactly why Rangers took the SFA to court, can you imagine if we had a transfer embargo in place. We would be unable to field a team.

We will have to pick up frees and bosmans and at least put out an eleven.

What a shambles.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Aye but who is going to want to play in division 3. That's the problem. Are they gonna go round the 5 a side parks holding open trials at this rate.

I love how a whole team just walk away! All signed long term deals wanting to stay with their boyhood club and now abandon them when we need them most!

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Celtic fan here .I come in peace. Could these players not have come to some agreement to ensure that the football club got some money back for selling them on. I think the true Rangers fans have been very badly treated by the men in suits and these players who are going. Jb. PS I will miss the Derby games big time.

Agree4 Disagree3

You wouldn't have been able to afford to keep them - Green just wanted to sell them. Maybe they know things we don't. Shouldn't they want to leave if they don't know if they'll be playing at all if they stay? What would you do when you'd considered money and the direction of your career?

Agree0 Disagree0

They have refused to transfer to Sevco as they no longer have a contract. The club they had a contract with "NO LONGER EXISTS".

Agree3 Disagree2

Their boyhood club is done, gone, over they just don't want to play for the new club, why r people finding it so hard to understand that rangers are gone? The players seem to have grasped that fact, the fans should start too. L1888

Agree5 Disagree1

Money talks, simple as that. They are not like you and me who would play for nothing. This is their livelihood and I honestly don't blame the older international players, why would they play in div one or three. However I do think that they should have gone back, the club would have sold them anyway, but would have got some dosh even at the reduced transfer fees. As they were reduced terms they would still have got good signing on fees, now they will get better signing on fees. The ones that I think are disgusting is Ness and McCabe, young kids who would have played every game next year. They still have plenty of years in front of them, they should have stayed.

Agree1 Disagree1

Football players are like pole dancers, they love the attention of their admirers, their fans but as soon as the music or the money stops they're off to a new pole.

Believable7 Unbelievable12

It's their job..nothing more..nothing less! Yes I agree the kissing the badge stuff now looks a bit daft but why when a footballers career is so short should they spend the next 3 or 4 years playing in the lower divisions in Scotland? You would do the same as would most sensible people who aspire to greater things and want the best for themselves and their families.

Agree4 Disagree1

The op is total b***cks the guys have families mortgages etc they took a 75% wage cut to try and save the club it's not happened so who are you/we to criticise them for finding other more secure employment for their future.

someone needs to investigate and/or sue duff and duffer, how could they not sell the best players for 15 - 20 million early on, put that in the CVA pot and have a better chance of keeping creditors happy - which is what they were supposed to do. not a rangers fan but your club has been shafted by lawyers and accountants - where are all the rangers fans with legal training?? {Ed039's Note - The transfer window was closed)

thoughts?

GGer

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Yes it is disappointing, they could easily have stayed and then sold so club would get some wonga. However they will now get huge sign on fees elsewhere. I am afraid that we are seeing the complete death of our club and don't see a way out.

Agree3 Disagree0

Why should they, would you? Say for instance, you worked for Asco and they were in financial difficulty. They want you to move to their new company simply so they can sell you to Tesda for a fee. Meanwhile Tesda are speaking to you privately, offering you a really big cheque to come and work for them before Sainsisons and Morrisbury's come looking. I know it sounds a bit ridiculous, but you get my drift?

Agree3 Disagree0

2) I don't blame them at all, but I do feel that they claimed to make great sacrifices but in effect the loss of 75% salary for a couple if months will pay off a hundred times over. This is the disappointing thing they all insisted on reduced transfer clauses which they will get huge signing on fees. They really made no sacrifice and now liquidation it's even better for them. I think they should have helped by agreeing to transfer to newco and then agree to be sold.
However it is less signing on fee for them and if we have learned one thing in this fiasco, is that money is the GOD. Pretty sad.

Agree1 Disagree0

It looks like whytes plan has backfired. If the idea was to unload the debts and sell on the new business and it would continue to trade as before. Thought I would have a read in the sporting integrity page at the posts there. Came across this little number full of class and integrity, only if you voted NO.
'i would like to see a Celtic Fighting fund, in the name of Sporting Integrity, where we raise some money, and at the end of the season we distribute this evenly amongst te other SPL clubs, more as a thanks for believing in sporting integrity, im sure with this gesture it will ease the burden that other SPL clubs have to share, also those clubs who vote to keep Newco/Sevco in the SPL dont recieve a penny
just a thought, but i myself will be going to more away games next season, everyone game i can, except for clubs that vote yes'
That's the celtic integrity way. {Ed039's Note - This is just posted for a laugh. You are a nutjob if you think that this is something that would get off the ground. You make me laugh because most Celtic fans that come on here are very decent and some having a good laugh at Rangers expense, and understanably, but you are the kind of fan that is all that is wrong with the old firm)

Ed, as I type sky reporting Davis and shagger also say no to Newco! Could I ask about your reply to the post at 17.34!
do you honestly think there is a good chance we won't be in any league next season? I am with the majority of fans who think we need to start again in div 3 and earn our place and respect back! I am confident that we will complete back to back promotions and it is not likely that the spl will improve inequality that much while we are gone! Long road ahead but we will be back!
PS name Wallace captain for the rest of his contract and hopefully beyond! {Ed039's Note - I do believe there is a chance that there will be no Rangers next season but the last 12-18 months has made me ever so pessimistic. There are alot of factors that come into it, Green has no players, we do not know what level of money has been invested (if any) and whether there will be a fan base turn up in the significant numbers he needs next season. I thought at first that the property development thing was just a farty a**e theory but I am actually starting to think that there might be something in it)

Shame about Ness leaving.

In best case scenario we would have got 1st Division status and could have built our team around a midfield of Davis, Ness and Bedoya.

But now with him leaving(and probably Davis) we have a centre midfield of Hutton and McCulloch!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Davis and mcgregor now away. rangers at best will be in 3rd and if in 3rd rangers will be playing with the young boys they have left no way rangers will walk through all divisions and the sooner the fans wake up 2 that the better its this attatude that has got us in this mess shown no respect 2 other teams. i will offer odds of 201 that rangers dont win the 3rd the 2nd and 1st in 3 years simples

Green is in the driving seat and has not indicated what his plans are even the players that he wanted to transfer to his newco.

I think he is skint and was relying on selling several players to keep going for a wee while.

No SPL and enough SFL teams will vote against the newco to stop the drop to division 1.

No europe for 3 years.

Not many fans showing enthusiasm for buying season tickets.

Scary times ahead and newco has not even had the assets of RFC for a month.

I think a press conference with CG telling the staff and support his intentions is unlikely and assets will be stripped sooner rather than later. CG will blame former players for not transferring to newco and supporters for not buying season tickets.

That way we would know where we stand and if shares was up for grabs we the fans could either save our club or let it die and could not blame anyone else

Fellow bears. i have been reading this post and other over the past few weeks and need to make a post to appeal to the many of you who could understand the situation. It seems to me that too many fans are caught up in a number of ever decreasing circles. these being as follows,

We must keep our history
All other clubs hate us and are causing the problem
The Media, the SFA and the SPL want to get rid of Rangers.
The players are traitors.

NONE of the above are true.

What is true is that Rangers fans have the best ever opportunity to exert their influence, in a positive manner, over the future of a team which will, in most scenarios, play football at Ibrox.

Whilst maintaining the persecution/paranoia complex, the future of football in the south side of Glasgow is being fashioned by a Yorkshireman with no funding, spitting out lies and management platitudes to a huge fan base who seem to be more interested in worrying about history and telling everyone how much they love their club, like pathetic teenagers.

Believe me, the way this is going, it is third lanark all over again. We must get rid of the knucklle draggers from the stone age. We must create a new club, built on the foundation of youth development and we must endeavour to try to put something back into the community that the old club took out.

Forget Green, forget history, forget paranoia, we are getting what we deserved. Lets start afresh and in ten years have Ibrox full watching a team of twenty year olds win the league and impress in europe.

Look at Ajax 1995 and their youth devvelopment players.

Let's be honest who the hell wants to play in the first division. If we are aloud in . Don't blame the players who are wanting to leave and let's be honest here the lot of them av pulled the wool over are eyes I mean whyte Murray duff and phelps now Charlie green under 1000 season tickets sold time for walking away I have the famous Glasgow rangers are finished

26 Jun 2012 19:57:49
honest post no fly digs etc.

now that players are willing to leave for hee haw can you blame them ?

put it this way by the looks of it the spl is out of the question unless the sfa bend the rules & open it up 2 a bigger league....now celtic too will now have to look at the wages being dished out.but 1st rangers.new owner, new money men. these top earners davis/naismith etc all took the cut from 20k to 5k since feb/march so overall they have maybe lost 60k each in that time.now they arent in the spl so those wages will be cut again which then leave you no choice but too leave ? football is a short career so lets be honest you need to make your money fast ? & really thats what there doing....

now green & co have now lost out on transfer fees doesnt matter how much or how many million end of the day hes lost money which will then fall back to the rangers fans.....to me he will just sell assests to highest bidder & walk away with 4/5 times the money he payed. they have been so many people 'intrested' in rangers but have all bailed due to how much money they need to be ran fit & proper.so at the end of the day all thats left is assests......

not kicking the fans when there down but im starting to believe that there wont be a rangers they way things are going.

back to celtic (and from what i can see this is where rangers are now lacking) celtic will need to sell the 20k-25k players that being brown/hooper/etc but i would be happy at that because we have youth (this is where rangers from what i can see/read is failing)i would be happy to sell ever 1st team player & bring in youth through.lets be honest its be honest its been on the cards for years that its what we need to do be feeder clubs make a few quid sell on & doi it over again.....

i see posts with if we do go to div 3 we will walk it back to the spl...well i honestly cant believe that because rangers will be on a shoe string budget the same as these other seems so it wont be how much you spend will be how you spend thats oonly going to help rangers

anyway would like to know yours thoughts on the whole saga overall.will there be a rangers ? will there be a spl ? will a sky deal still be there ? is this the best think for scotlands youth as overall it could be us getting knocked out of the euros by italy lol ?

I have a qustion and hope smeoe cn givee a genuineanswer without any bile. What if te other leagues vote against ai us, can someone over rule it o the s.f.a have a duty t find us a league to play in ?.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

The S.F.A have no duty to find Newco a league to play in, just like any other club.

Mac2.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would the SFA have a duty to find you a league to play in? At this moment, there are no players, there is no accounts and you have no licence to play in any league.Plus Green seems to be running out of cash and the oldco is not even cold yet..........green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree1

Why would the sfa be duty bound to find the newco a league to play in? They are not currently members of any league.

Jd

Agree1 Disagree0

They could allow us in the Stagecoach West of Scotland League and compete against Irvine Meadow

Agree2 Disagree0

Options include buying over an existing club (provided they would sell or indeed we could afford). Make a plea to sfa/uefa/FIFA to be allowed to apply out with Scotland (permission unlikely to be granted) or fold.

Agree1 Disagree0

If the clubs do not want you (and that includes the five that Rangers tried to have ejected in 1964 (Stranraer, Stenhousemuir,Albion Rovers, Berwick Rangers and Brechin (i think))then you would have to apply to join a junior league to put in three years to apply again to Div 3 in SFL if there was a vacancy. No Bile --just fact.

Agree2 Disagree0

Sevco has no automatic right to enter the professional game in Scotland. It is a newco, a new company and a new club. It has no history. It has no place in any league, therefore it cannot be 'relegated', it cannot be 'demoted' it can only be admitted.

we need to support our national game rangers fans Celtic fans all our other teams fans. our game has hit rock bottom and us as Scottish fans can only fix this. rangers as we all know are dead and it hurts so much to say that but the sooner people see this the better. its time to look after our game and ensure no other club dies. we will return to a better game if we do.

Given that a number of players look set to have left with absolutely no money coming in to Rangers it is looking increasingly likely that the tactics employed by Duff & Phelps have been shambolic at best. It gave the club more than a fighting chance at second place, sure, but at what cost? Aluko doesn't count as he was on a short term contract anyway but Ness, McCabe, Whittaker, Lafferty and Naismith all had resellable value. The number of players leaving, needless to say, wont end there. Perhaps £20m plus wiped off the value of the club to get the SPL second place prize? Let's face it Europe was already a non-starter for 2012-2013 so that wasn't the reason. Not good business at all plus, given that their primary concern was supposedly to creditors anyway, it would have been all the more sensible. Creditors potentially getting a far more sizeable CVA pot, Rangers short term expenditure (wages) slashed big time, poorer product on the park I grant you but maybe a CVA passed and therefore maybe liquidation avoided and therefore no newco and more importantly no TUPE. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is special dispensation for clubs in administration regards selling players outwith transfer windows, maybe not top dollar under the circumstances but better than zero let's face it. Looks like D&P have ultimately screwed everyone...bar D&P.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

The £900k second place prize money was not paid to old Rangers by the SPL. It has been withheld to pay debts to SPL clubs..... Hearts, Celtic, etc...

Agree1 Disagree1

1) As far as I recollect the difference between second and third was £900,000 but absolutely, it makes D&P's stance all the more ludicrous given that Rangers wouldn't get that cash anyway, add Davis and McGregor to the mix by all accounts.

Hope that's true. Got a feeling Green needs the season ticket money to conclude the £5.5m purchase. Said that on this post prior to the revelation in The Herald that the season ticket money was not secured.

If this is accurate then the assets will have to be sold on. i.e. cannot conclude the deal. Has anybody read that Green' s consortium has actualy paid over £5.5m rather than just concluding a contract to pay over the money within a certain timescale?

How do you figure you're having a year out? Right now, the Rangers are being liquidated so they're out for ever. Newco can apply to join the SFA/SFL but need to have the appropriate paperwork in place. Part of that is 3 years audited accounts. You can't get them in a year. Like most fans in Scotland, I'm trying to come to terms with what football will be like without the Rangers but the reality is, we are heading in a direction where we are about to find out. {Ed039's Note - I dont know where this 3 years audited accounts it coming from, how does a newco have something like this, what would have been the sense in creating a newco? Fellow bears,
Im getting totally dismayed by the lack of a fan buyout proposal, the old club is gone along with the history. We shouldnt settle for green, he has told us all he is only doing this for buisness. He thinks he has picked up a bargain, which he has when you consider 5.5 mil has bought him all the assets and the rights to any season tickets we buy. Think of it this way 40000 season books at 500 a pop is 20 mil minus tax etc. it makes his 5.5 mil gamble a no brainer. Say we go to third division what kind of playing budget should we have i personally feel a playing budget of 1 million is probably over inflated, there is a lot of profit to be made at our club over the next few years if we back it. And thats my point, we are being viewed no longer as a fanbase but as a profit margin on some investors year end accounts. Why are we not setting up a rival club to green for entry into the third division, our own club. Rangers are no longer the only thing let of them is us the fans, if we dont back greens club and form and back our own then this would be rangers in all our eyes. Leave him with the assets we dont need them in the 3rd division, start again, rent broadwood for a season while we are in the 3rd division and build a new stadium elsewhere to be ready for 13/14 season, by stadium i mean one stand, as years go by we can build other stands to increase our capacity by time we get to spl. I believe this could be funded by one years season ticket money by fans at the current prices. We have an oppurtunity to run our club our way and ensure the money we give to it goes back into the club, with green our money is just going to line his pockets. We need a figurehead to get this up and running.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I listened probably for the 1st time to Green this morning and I'm sure he's studied and doing nothing more than quoting Fergus McCann. Only difference is this was 20 years ago and Celtic were in the SPL with a team and (granted once Fergus took over) stability. What would we get from a share issue in today's current climate ?

Agree3 Disagree0

You are missing out the facts, have you any idea what it costs to run Ibrox & MP?
MP alone costs £1.4m a year to turn over, so Ibrox must be considerably more. then there is 177 wages to pay, There is no huge money to be made and in fact think we will struggle to meet the costs unless we buy tickets

I've listened to many of the comments from Rangers fans over the past few weeks.....some are great others rather desperate....

I understand your love for your team. I don't support any Glasgow team but I know what your team means to you. Rangers isn't a football club...it's a way of life....win, lose or draw their always there for you!
However guys, if you were to step back from this situation and look at it from a different view, you would see that all the other clubs and supporters haven't got it in for you.

If this had been Aberdeen, would you have sympathised with the club and their fans......I doubt it.

This vote to keep Rangers in the SPL or not is not aimed at the fans. It's a matter of rule. I think that all the clubs involved have had a massive decision to make. The financial implications are also massive.....but the integrity of football must always come first.

I don't believe you should be allowed into the 1st Division just because your Rangers....Regardless of whether your Rangers, Man United or Real Madrid....you should start again with a clean slate from the 3rd Division.....rules are rules. This whole episode is turning into a nightmare for Scotland and it's football associations. Changing the rules just to suit Rangers will cause an animosity for decades to come for Rangers and the relevant associations. Why do other innocent clubs who have been fighting tooth and nail to try and make to the SPL have to step aside in the 1st Division, just to accomodate Rangers?

It's not you the fans this football decision is aimed at.....I feel for the Rangers fans. You have done nothing wrong...but your club must except the rules as they are and if the vote is a NO vote..then start again with your integrity intact and show the football world that you can rise again like a phoenix from the flames and reclaim your place in football history.....Do you really want to be remembered for the fact that you were "give a hand up the wall, because you couldn't climb it yourselves".

Good Luck to you all in the future.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

..Great post..most if not all Rangers fans i know want to start from the bottom....its Green and his consortium that wants to take the shortcut...and while i,m at it i,d just like to say that the Rangers fans have been treated really badly by all in Scottish football...what exactly have we done to deserve this hatred?...its a total mystery to me and every other Rangers fan..:(

Agree3 Disagree2

Integrity? for teams in the SPL, is that why the team relegated from the SPL last season believes they should still be in the SPL and Dundee should be left in the first division. Explain where is the sporting integrity in that......

Agree2 Disagree2

You keep saying rules are rules, the problem is that there are no rules. had the rules said div three then thats fine, but they dont so the bloodlust continues, just getting silly now

Agree0 Disagree3

There is no sporting integrity, they are looking after themselves, the problem is that the fans of other clubs backed their chairmen into a corner because they would not buy season tickets. the whole thing is money, nothing more, nothing less.

Agree2 Disagree1

The problem is the sfa don't want us in div three. Or do the spl chairmen it would then be a minimum of three years and could longer without rangers in the spl would sky stay would sponsors stay and most of all would the fans stay watching a league over by Christmas each year I don't know but I for one want to go to the third clean slate and fight our way back up its the only way we can hold our heads up for our crimes and I hope the investigation into our past chairmen digs deep we don't deserve this

Agree0 Disagree0

As you said the chairmen where backed into a corner by the fans. the fans weren't influenced with money for them it was sporting integrity! so it's not about the chairmen it's what Scottish football is really about the fans saying no to newco.

If we do go down to the 3rd division...going by the exodus of players that we are experiencing at this moment...what is it that makes us think that we will won every league on the way back to the aol the first time. Yes we will have more revenue than most if not all clubs. My question is however what players apart from our youth will want to play in these smaller leagues. We are not owed any favours and our name will mean nothing 'til once again we are back in the SPL. I feel it's gonna take longer than the majority of us bears think!

Someone had to grow a pair and put us into liquidation, Charles Green has stepped up, kept his cards close to his chest and made no false promises. Yet the truth is only one man has caused this, by not paying PAYE and a small tax bill over a 9 month period.

NOTHING HAS BEEN DECIDED YET ON CBT'S.

I really dread to think what will happen should punishments come regarding these.

Vambo, if and it would be a big if.....Scottish Football was to die then as far as I'm concerned all affected would be to blame for letting it.

Also as for your comment regarding smaller clubs and your mates being fans. They would suffer like Rangers fans are now, also not to blame for what is happening.

I actually have sympathy for Whittaker, Naismith, Lafferty etc, these are internationalists that cannot be playing in a lower league. They are all experienced players and are approaching the end of their careers. However McCabe & Ness, you have got to be joking.

Ness is always injured and has been paid good money while not playing and McCabe has started a handful of games.
It would do neither any harm to play at a lower level and they would be pretty much assured on a starting place. I find their attitude ridiculous. They and more importantly their agents should be ashamed of themselves.

Both can go and languish in the reserves at some Championship team and fade into the ether as far as I am concerned.

At least Green will save a fortune on wages, I am looking out the boots tonight.

I can't believe Green didn't know this would happen. If he hasn't got the money for running costs then shipping players wages in the short term is the only way he's going to afford to run the club. No contact with the squad since purchase says it all. I would spend less energy worrying about the symptoms of whats gone wrong like the team/sfa nightmare and complaining about other clubs. The focus should be entirely on finding out and verifying what money Green actually has access to, to cure the underlying problems.

Hi people

I have two views on this as a season ticket holder and a loyal fan to Rangers, old co and newco makes no difference we're still the same club.

First of all to all the idiots who keep saying 'youse have cheated for years paying players with money you didnt have' have you got the verdict on the court case? NO so no more brainless comments, Rangers are being liquidated for unpaid tax from last year and because craig whyte took a 27 million pound loan out....END OF.

My first view is from a sporting integrity point of view, lets start from the 3rd division it'll be the only way we get any form of dignity back and then the rest of the 'premier' league clubs cannot moan, we will easily win the 3rd , 2nd and 1st div anyway, and by the time we get back up i fear for money of the other SPL clubs who need our revenue to survive. We cannot play in europe anyway so i see it as no major loss.

My second view is i think at the end of the day Rangers .... and i need to say celtic, make the SPL what it is and gives it all its forms of revenue without us they would be a pub league like ireland and wales wether they wish to accept that or not, and they only have the squads they have just now because of the money we make the league, as for the likes of falkirk and raith rovers....who carers they seriously need to think as a business and realise they may not get the chance to make the sort of revenue they would playing us 4 times a season ever again as along with the rest of the 1st division clubs.

I think the other clubs need to remember aswell alot of scotlands co-efficient points for europe have came from OUR participation eg the uefa cup run and champions league last 16 success. Its not the fans fault were in the situation its tghe action of individuals, i dont see HIBS, HEARTS, ABERDEEN OR DUNDEE UTD, having full stadiums every weekend, only time there fans turn out is when they play us or when the get to a domestic cup final.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Why do you think the tax wasnt payed last year and CW took out 27mil loan? Because youse spent years cheating, paying players youse couldnt afford. {Ed039's Note - whats that got to do with the way whyte conducted himself?)

Agree3 Disagree1

Whyte tried everything to keep Rangers afloat. Not paying PAYE and NI was to keep it going.
Newbie manager McCoist stuffed it up, out of 4 competitions rather quickly and stopped 4 revenue streams pushing Rangers into administration.
SDM and McCoist are to blame.

Agree0 Disagree2

Well sain Ed
Keith Jackson was on radio today and said he felt the punishment is now way beyond reality as to what rangers are guilty of
Craig whytes dealings are what we're talking about now and rangers and the creditors are the victims in this
Ebt's verdict is still to come
We lost our great club because of Craig whyte

I think this is why Smith & his consortium pulled back from joining Green. Smith did state he didn't see where the funding was coming from knowing fine well the players would walk. Green only wants them to transfer to newco so he can sell them to fund running of the club. This is Whyte all over again no money to run the club, there's no way any player over 1 grand a week will be at ibrox if div 3 is where we have to play in fact I reckon 1 grand a week is probably more than will be paid. Watch this space for Smith to come back in again when Green is desperate to sell. In fact wouldnt surprise me if Walter has had a word with most of the players to advise them they would be sold & there fee used to run the club. McCoist is binding his time until Walter comes back in again ? Thoughts any1. {Ed039's Note - I dont think we have seen the last of Smith)

the simple answer to this mess is for Rangers to start in the 3rd div
then plans should be put in place for league reconstruction the following season, with 2 divisions of 16 and a div of 12, so another 2 clubs can get in, like Spartans.
if Rangers achieve promotion, then under re construction they would then be in the 2nd tier of scottish football with a chance of promotion to the top league
this would benefit all clubs as Rangers with 2 back to back promotions would be back in the top flight, rather than 3 as it stands
this seems to me the only sensible and workable solution that no club could argue against and im sure the majority of the fans would accept this as well

'However, it is true that this statue commemorates those who died in the Ibrox Park disaster. Some have interpreted this as disrespectful to their memory. I was aware of the significance of the statue, but did not interpret that this image was designed to make a cruel link between those that lost their lives and the recent Rangers story.

I firmly believe that this image was intended as a comment on Mr Greig, but when I was alerted to this other possible interpretation, I immediately deleted the tweet and issued an unreserved apology to anyone who was offended.'

The Scottish Football Association have set a deadline of Friday for Charles Green to submit the necessary paperwork to apply for the transfer of Rangers' membership to his new company.

The owner of Sevco 5088, which own the assets of the Ibrox club bought for £5.5m, has made a formal request to the governing body for their board to consider switching the membership from the old company to his newco.

Green though is yet to provide necessary information for the request to be considered, such as the details of the shareholdings of his company and its structure, a business plan and information to comply with the Scottish FA's rules on fit and proper persons.

Celtic fan here (boo, hiss!!). Am I reading this properly or is their a chance of Rangers not being allowed in the SFL at all !!??

Is somebody taking the piss!! Both Rangers and Celtic have about 30% of the total football fans in Scotland. I know that Rangers need to be punished, but not allowing them in one of the top divisions is just a joke that we can't afford.

I disagreed with McCoist when he said the OF where a special case. But now I'm beginning to see his point (only just). Not the SPL but somewhere for god's sake. The fans deserve better than this.

I didn't mind the SPL teams being allowed to vote against Gers. They have all been affected in one way or other. But Alloa, Albion Rovers, etc. Come on!!

To real Gers fans. Best of luck!!

p.s. NewCo will be Rangers to me (if we ever get to play them). If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck. It's a f**king duck!

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Another celtic fan and disagree with ya.. why should newco get specail rules to go into first division. they need to ask fro election to join sfl in 3rd division. oh and by the way i was in vegas and saw a guy who looked like elvis, walked like elvis, sung like elvis, dressed like elvis and dressed like elvis but bugger me if elvis aint STILL DEAD!!!!

Agree6 Disagree3

No m8 rangers and celtic have about 60% of fan base in scotland. rangers had about averaging 45 thousand home gates , celtic 56.500, aberdeen 8.000, hearts 9.000,dundee utd 7.500, hibs 7.5000 then the rest 3/5 thousand. so R.I.P spl the end is near for all.

And still welcome the chase!

@POB:You really are starting to lose the plot.Green has bought the assets of the old club,Real estate, badge etc,but liquidation rules dictate that any newco cannot operate in a style too similar to the liquidated company.TRFC is the business vehicle that sevco will use for the next team. What Green has not said is what the name of the team will be.A lot will depend on the liquidators report, they might not even be allowed to use the name rangers in the title. And please, the most successful club in the world will be no more in a few weeks.Work through the stages, you will feel better.............green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree3

Blah blah blah GJ!
Look up the definition of "Club".
You will find the following.

"a group of people organized for a social, literary, or other purpose:
e.g. - an athletic club.
"to attend a club or a club's activities."
"the building or rooms occupied by such a group."

You are obsessed with names and titles GJ.
Doubt you will ever feel better.
I find it rediculously hysterical how Celtic fans are obsessed with our club's alleged"dissapearance".
Any time a press article or an individual refers to us as "Rangers" they can't handle it. Strange that is it not?
We're still here. Is that getting to you GJ?
P.O.B.

Agree1 Disagree0

@POB: What does that prove, the definition of a club?In a sporting context, oldco, and their history will end with liquidation. This is why Green can apply for the oldco share in the SPL,cos oldco are no more!Getting to me? (ED)Is there any truth in the rumour that clubs apart from Celtic in the SPL are talking to each other about a higher level of gate receipts being distributed to them. Is this due to the realisation by club directors in the SPL that this season is going to be financially difficult and administration is a high possibility for some. Certainly the league will be won by Celtic who are in a much better position to dominate the game and sustain their club but how do the other teams ensure that a fairer distribution of funds are available to them? R-M
PS. have sent my letter to Green today asking him to
apply immediately to SFL for licence. Will post this later for anyone who wants to do the same. {Ed039's Note - Yes I think the other clubs will now look for a much more even distribution of gate money)

Raith and Falkirk oppose Rangers newco First Division move
26 June 12 12:01

Raith Rovers have joined Falkirk in stating their opposition to "newco" Rangers being admitted to the Scottish First Division.
Rangers are seeking a league to play in now that it appears certain their bid to play in the Scottish Premier League will be rejected on 4 July.
The Scottish Football League board is currently meeting to discuss proposals, including Rangers' entry to its set-up.
Rovers say they will "certainly not" vote in favour of Rangers' application.

I cannot tbelieve the hypocrasy currently being shown by some of the SPL clubs citing the reason for a no vote is to maintain sporting integrity, and money should not be a factor. Is this the same teams that refused to acknoledge that the SPL has been dead on its feet for many years, with it being widely acknolwledged that the biggets contributor to this is the 12 team struture , rather than a 16 team or 18 tram league. Despite the overwleming majority of fans and pundits wanting the league expanded, these so called men of integrity have continually kicked ihis into touch because of the money they would loose by not playing the old firm 4 times a season and leaching of the nmoney it brings, so once again i will ask were was their sporting integrity then , where was there concern for the good of scottish football then.
So i say let them have there no vote, but equally lets make sur esporting integrity and equallity remains in the future. When we are back in the SPL and we will be , in the future we should only take the same amount of tickets for away games as the opposition brings to Ibrox. Lets only play on TV the same amount as every other team, as we are equal so lets see what TV deals are on offer if we only play say 4 or 5 tiimes a season in front of the cameras.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Sporting integrity my ass,all the clubs who voted no hide behind this banner whilst passing the buck to the fans.
Have you ever heard the bile and hatred directed towards rangers and their fans at away games.
It was obvious the fans would vote us out whilst the clubs pacify the fans by voting no and averting the bully tactics of the Celtic support.
Now we are hearing of sporting integrity being upheld by 1st division clubs, in what way would Rangers being in the 1st division

Raith Rovers FC continues to closely monitor developments in the saga of who will replace the liquidated Rangers within Scottish football.

As proud members of the Scottish Football League, we may soon be called upon to consider proposals for the way forward not only in relation to any vacancy that may arise in our league but also in respect of the future construction of the game in Scotland.

Whilst we retain an open mind on the subject of league reconstruction, and will carefully consider any proposal put to us by the SFL board in this regard, the board of directors of Raith Rovers FC is unanimous in its view that we shall certainly not cast our vote in favour of any integrated plan that in our view compromises sporting integrity by involving the admission of any ‘Newco’ directly into Division One.

Believable2 Unbelievable7

The sale will not be void it will just have been obtained by means of defrauding certain individuals. The spl/sfa have acted on the facts they have thus the situation we are in. Op - The only difference to your mhob is SPL revenue, prize money and a reduced TV money oh and revenue from a qualifying round or 2 from your euro expedition- maybees even get in the back door again and get knocked out of the same tourney twice.
TV companies are not daft and if they see that there is a chance to get more viewers watching a RFC away game than a Hibs v Killie game who do you think they will go for?

Agree3 Disagree0

@1: might not be that easy. Where will the money come from to make your club wealthier? Too many fans on here are unrealistic and think promotions, success and future wealth is a done deal when you don't even know if there will be a team for you to support in any league next season.

RE Tiger below "We wont have short memories"
I think you better hope some SFL
clubs DO have short memories...
In 1964 Rangers tried to get the
5 clubs with the smallest attendances
thrown out of the SFL, these teams
were Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir,
Berwick Rangers, Brechin City and
Stranraer.
Now in an ironic twist these 5 clubs
will now vote on allowing Sevco into
the SFL.
Oh the sins of the past.......

Yes you are partly right, as usual, as RFC led a group of clubs who wanted to reduce the numbers.
In 1964 your mhob were 8th in the league and probably felt more akin to the lower supported clubs anyway, but fair play Michael Kelly backed the smaller teams, the same Michael Kelly who led your club thro the tax scam of estimated attendances- so he knew a thing or two about low attendances.
Now interestingly enough the move to have the clubs expelled was blocked by Stenhousemuir Director Robert Turpey who went to court and was successfull in obtaining an Interim Interdict to stop the clubs being removed. In November 1964 the issue was settled out of court.
Deary deary me a club going outside of the footballing family to have an issue settled in court - whatever next eh?Strange, well not really, how you now are backing those clubs who went to court.

And it took another ten years for the clubs to realise we were right and restructure the leagues into three divisions of 10 14 and 14, again we were ahead of our rivals in thinking so waht is your point

@1: in those days there weer no rules about taking football matters to court.

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 but funny how a few clubs felt the need to have their say in court.

@1 sorry wrong again. The Celtic chairman
BOB KELLY opposed this on guess what SPORTING INTEGRITY

My wife made an interesting observation last night. She reckons the current fiasco at Ibrox has been more exciting than the football has been for the past 20 years. I'm finding it hard to argue against this. :) Anyone else's partners making similar noises?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Yeah my wife keeps shouting 'I thought the football had finished, why is it still on the telly, stop watching it I want to watch my Vampire Diaries!'

To ease your pain about having no
Celtic games next season, UEFA and
Celtic will soften the blow when we
play Linfield in Champions League thus
allowing you all your Celtic fix LOL Timalloy

Interesting reading tomorrow. HRMC accept CVA for portsmouth of 2p in the pound for a debt of 58 million. wheres their " its our policy not to accept CVAs now"...

Believable12 Unbelievable10

They don't accept for DELIBERATE NON PAYMENT ala CW.

Agree2 Disagree3

You missed out that it's not their policy to accept them for those who have a bad history of meeting tax payments. Were Portsmouth withholding tax and PAYE etc. Add to this that HMRC aren't one of the largest creditors for Portsmouth so don't have as much of a say as they did in the Rangers case. You're drawing parallels when there aren't many to be made.

Agree4 Disagree2

Agree, and apparently some of the creditors are the same creditors from 2010 and they are still waiting for payment from then.
They have left the door open for alternative bids to come in as well instead of an exclusitivity period.

Agree2 Disagree0

Doesn't seem fair, does it? And not for the first time at Portsmouth. I guess the difference is that there has been no wrongdoing - which is what HMRC said in their statement about Rangers.

Agree1 Disagree1

They didn't deliberately withhold vat, NI and PAYE already paid by employees.

Agree4 Disagree2

#5 - answer me this please .... If they didn't deliberately withold payment to HMRC, how do they owe them money ?

Agree5 Disagree1

#6 it will be monies owed at the time of them going into administration , companies dont pay hmrc every week , they pay at regular periods, every month ,3 months etc . hence they would have been owing hmrc some money

Believable18 Unbelievable19

" i will be renewing my season ticket "

No , you won't . RFC are to be liquidated , therefore , you may be buying a season ticket but it won't be for RFC , they won't exist . The NEWCLUB are to be voted out of the SPL and don't have the stipulated three years of accounts needed for the SFL .

Rangers are gone and NEWCLUB can't get in .

Season ticket ? Stop it , my sides are splitting

A true Rangers supporter. Wont go to an away game to support their new team cos the home team dared vote against you ? The usual pathetic logic from people that think they have some divine right to get into any league they choose !!

Agree4 Disagree8

More boycotts? What would you have wanted to happen if it had been any other club in this position? Can you really not comprehend why clubs are voting no? It's not about hatred but to prevent other clubs doing what Rangers have done in future. If you think it's all about spite then that says more about you than about them.

Were celtic not boycotting clubs votein newco watp dez
