Guess Celtic made such an impact on your owner that now he wants cl, we give him something to look forward to, or has he read just how obsessed yous are with Celtic that you watch ever so closely in cl and in the spl.
The show gets better and better with every day, hope you are enjoying the show that your putting on off the field as there is nothing to see on the field lol

Believable26 Unbelievable20

What a sad person you are, clearly totally deluded. Can I point out that you are posting on a Rangers site, and you call us obsessed?
I can only speak for myself but I watched Barcelona in mid week because I wanted to see you get humped. That didn't happen and your team deserve some credit for that, but what did happen was even better watching. You were so close, if only and I bet it hurt like hell, so I had fun just knowing that. As for you in SPL I have not seen one SPL game because I could not care less, a competition with no competition is nothing.
Surely you are not taking a pop at Green because he wants us to be in CL ? Of course he does, perhaps too many in the pub tonight?

Agree17 Disagree15

The reality is CL is about 5 years away, if ever. Green wants to keep his CEO high profile job to bring his money in over a longer period as a salary. His backers are not happy. Shares are not floated? Why?
Ahmed must be disappointed with Green, he needs replacing.

Agree16 Disagree6

In response to -2- , CL or the winning of any domestic honour is atlease 10-15 years away at best. It's like saying in 1995 Gretna would contest the Scottish cup final in 2007.
And Gretna owned their home, a stadium, this lot are just convenient , rent paying tenants !!

Agree15 Disagree3

US OBSESSED ?

Agree1 Disagree3

3) I disagree, Scottish football is so poor that you can buy at least second place for £10m. If we were in EPL or La Liga, I agree it would take ten years at least. But when we are back in SPL we will finish second, clearly not with present team but as we go up the leagues the players will get better, better players signed etc. We hammered Motherwell, the second best team, with this team.

Looks like not everybody thinks Celtic are wonderful...

Barcelona Legend - Bernd Schuster

German Schuster said: "I'm fed up of seeing these type of matches.
"There should not be teams like Celtic in the Champions League. We saw it last year with Chelsea. It was a very bad example for football and it is regrettable that they became European champions.
"You see Celtic defending with ten men and almost snatching a point — that is not fair."

"I believe the coach of Celtic viewed many times the video of Chelsea last season against Barcelona.
"He decided to repeat the system, but the ultra-defensive system is NOT football.

"Chelsea have now generated a school for teams like Celtic to study. It would have been unjust if a team that defended with ten men had taken one point in the home of the best club in the world.
"UEFA needs to change this phase of the competition if they want to breathe life into the Champions League.

"Celtic do not merit their place if they are going to play in this style."I remember the vitriol from Celtic fans after Messi accused us of the same thing....now the boots on the other foot, and about time too.

Believable21 Unbelievable26

My, my, my...the bitterness just spews forth. Do you remember Chelsea? Seem to remember them doing Barca over whilst being disciplined. The problem with rangers was that they played EVERY SINGLE ROUND of the UEFA run defensively. Celtic were open and attacking against benfica and Spartak. Can you suggest a better way of keeping yourself in the game against Barca? Should Celtic have just invited them to steamroller them? You'd have enjoyed that, no doubt.

Agree21 Disagree8

Ah, would this be the same Mr Schuster, that when managing Real Madrid, stated before a Barcelona v Madrid match at the Camp Nou that no team could win there.

He was sacked.

Agree17 Disagree2

So this bell end starts bumping his gums and now he's an expert in managerial tactics . He won one league as a manager in his career so I guess he's an expert . He's that good Dundee knocked him back when he applied for the job . "Celtic shouldn't be in the Champions league" . I think you'll find the clue is in the title of the tournament . Celtic champions of Scotland . Barcelona runners up in Spain . Go figure Einstein.....DH

Agree16 Disagree8

Maybe if barca didnt live outwith its means buying the best players at a loss of 79 million a year with a debt of 436 million then other clubs might give them more of a game

Agree21 Disagree3

Not Fair To Defend? Who is this guy? Celtic, first British winners to break the Latin defensive dominance of the European Cup with a team of Scottish players. Unbleievable. Rangers fan, but I know the history, and Glasgow produced a Golden piece of football history in the late 60s and 70s. Both teams. Glasgow changed football.

Agree18 Disagree2

@6,
Ah but Barca have a cunning plan to wipe out their debt, they intend to go into Administration, followed by Liquidation........well you know the rest, damned good plan though.

Agree11 Disagree5

Oh dear the bhoys are up in arms because Schuster(and a few Barca players) told it how it was....his comments , to be fair, are as risible, and as ridiculous, as the pro-Sellik polemics gushing from our Scottish press....agreed, teams should not be condemned for playing to their strengths, or not lying down to bigger name teams, but a defeat is a defeat, and this defeat was miles away from the 3-2 game at Parkhead between Celtic and Barca, where Celtic had a right go....you can't dress up 10% possession, 4 shots on goal and a 10 man defence as anything other than hanging on by your scants...Barca had key players missing, a hobbit defence, and have been shipping goals...Samaras going off was a blow, as he had no qualms about running their backline, and Hooper is not equipped to do that ...Celtic might have got something had Samaras stayed on, but calm the "magnificent performance" bit down,...it would have been a great result, but it was'nt a great performance.

Agree9 Disagree10

7) you are quite correct what Celtic & Rangers did in the late 60s & 70s was remarkable. I remember the night when Rsngers were in the semi of ECWC and Celtic were playing in the semi of the EC on the same night in Glasgow. I remember getting home from Ibrox and watched extra time in the Celtic game when they went out on penalties. I may be wrong but I remember ther being 150,000 at the games, astonishing.
My late father went to Barcelona in 72, I was 11. I used to wind him up that he was some Dad because he didn't take me, and he stated that his great regret was that he didnt take me, but he said that we were in semis and finals every three or four years. He did not expect it be another nearly 40 years to another final. I however learned from that and I took my son to Manchester for UEFA when he was 11.
Incredible how things have changed in such a relatively short period. He is now 15 and had never seen Scotland in any finals, and that does not look like changing any time soon either.

Agree10 Disagree1

Bottom line, only way this will ever change is going back to straight knockout, ain't going to happen [$$$$$] so accept and get on with it.

Agree5 Disagree2

All interesting replies. schuster's opinion isnt worth the peace of paper it was printed on. He's a laughing stock in world football. He needs to make outlandish comments like this to get any sort of attention. Best ignored. I would like to correct everyone on the possession stat though. Take the time to go and look on the official uefa site and Barcelona v Celtic 76% to 24% is the official stat. Nowhere near the 10% suggested. Just saying.

Agree6 Disagree3

@13. So when a 19 year old Messi commented that Rangers played Anti-Football in 2007 against Barcelona, the vitriol that was spouted against us from the usual sources, ie. Celtic fans, Scottish Mhedia etc, this was just jovial banter eh? FYI - The first SPL team to be labelled with the 'Anti-Football' tag was........guess who....Martin O'neills Celtic side in 2004. Frank Rikjaard came out with the comment. {The Ed039's Note -Who cares, guys, if you want to talk about the Celtic game then there is a Celtic page. This is for Rangers associated banter and rumours)

Agree3 Disagree1

Celtic fan. Who gives a feck, we are Scotland and they are the best team ever. Take my hat off to Ally in the Record for the "Papac was defending in Malaga at on point" comment. Like him with a bit of humour. Haven't seen it too much lately.

Silvio Berlusconi jailed for tax evasion. SDM take note!

G93

Believable16 Unbelievable2

Wrong...Was not jailed as he is too old apparently, convicted yes - jailed no.

Agree3 Disagree11

According to reports jailed for 4 years

Agree9 Disagree3

Why don't you all listen to the full story.Got 4 years but there will be appeal after appeal so will probably not do the time.

Agree3 Disagree0

Isnt the point that he was found guilty - not whether or not he goes to jail. If he does evade jail its because of a law he got passed.

Agree2 Disagree0

Who cares ....trueblue..... {The Ed039's Note - Italian law will differ from Scottish law as well, it doesnt mean a thing to be perfectly honest)

if when cg was offering a cva to creditors woud if you were asked to contribute to help us exit administration via this road , i for one asked the question at the time and would have been happy to do so that way we could still have got shares and remain in spl and also be in no doubt about having our history ok european football a no no but we could have got a better calibre of players in the time we had to build a team

Believable2 Unbelievable13

The momentous scale of the financial irregularities involving HMRC mean that a CVA was never going to be approved, that would imply that HMRC condoned cheating.
It's right that the club founded in 1872 and incorporated itself as a company in 1899 will become extinct in 2012/2013.
The nature of the cheating, specifically non disclosed, non contractual payments which subsequently were paid free from tax and which were facilitied by side contracts or letters of comfort will result in Rangers history being concluded with 48 league titles.
What remains to be seen is whether, after ground shattering revelations by Craig Whyte , a new club The Rangers will be allowed with trying to associate itself with a club which died in the most shameful of circumstances.
The world is watching.

Agree25 Disagree19

'The momentous scale of the financial irregularities involving HMRC ...'

FFS, you lot now claiming the HMRC are at it? what yous like.

See if they were 'non contractual payments' does that mean they were loans and not part of their contracts?

Agree8 Disagree9

Post one is by a bitter Celtic fan. He levels accusations which are to be decided by a tribunal not by an idiotic football fan.

@2 Gavin Rae received received £8,000 via the EBTs in a season where he played 8 games, £16,000 in a season where he played 16 games and £2,000 in a season where he played 2 games, this is the SPLs point, they were not just loans, they were specific, consecutive amounts, and in this case especially they can be very much viewed as a contract.

G93

Agree17 Disagree9

Heard today from a good source that ticketus have bought the first 15,000 season tkts for this season and next.I really dont know if this is true,(but I have e.mailed ticketus to ask if its true.prob wont get a reply)apparantly this is why the share thing is going its to pay the shortfall..and NO. im not making this up its wot i heard, anybody else hear anything like this....gary

Agree4 Disagree5

Surely then, if they were all loans, EVERYONE will be happy to pay them all back? From Sir David all the way through to Gavin Rae. Even Souness. And Walter. And Fergie. And de Boer...and so on...

The man who took the club from the scrapheap admitted last night that he has become so attached to Rangers that he can't walk away.... HO HO HO. How gullible does he think people are?

Believable28 Unbelievable6

Just more bluster from Charles Green to keep the fans onside.Did he not say a few weeks ago that Rangers would never participate in the SPL,so how then can you progress to the champion league?

Agree26 Disagree3

How are you guys reacting to Green's u-turn on seeking entry to the SPL when the chance arises, as is implied in his statement to stay until they rise to the Champions League?
Al

Agree19 Disagree1

@1 and 2, he didn't ever mention returning to the SPL, he said he wanted to hear the CL theme tune at Ibrox. You are so naive, you really are, what Green has been saying is Rangers will not return to the SPL (as you know it) because they will go into a top flight in a reconstructed SPL.

Agree7 Disagree26

@3 You seem to have created a whole fantasy senario based on Green's statements. Where is your evidence that the league is to be reconstructed? Believe the facts. Don't try to extrapolate so much from a statement or two.
Al

Agree17 Disagree2

Sounds to me as if he might be about to postpone his proposed share issue and might have to stay longer at Ibrox than he'd anticipated so is using the CL as an excuse to do so. Think though he'll be long gone before we're back in Europe.

BARNEY BEAR

Agree19 Disagree0

@3 I've got te CL tune as ma ring-tone. I'll pop along to the Ibrox if he wants to hear it played there. What seats he in? Or will he be standing outside wi a beggin bowl.

Shuggy

Agree19 Disagree4

@4 read the statement, he says Rangers will not re-join the SPL whilst he is in charge but he would be open to league reconstruction. You not wanting it to be true doesn't mean it's not.

Agree4 Disagree7

Barrel of laughs is Charlie boy, just when you thought his statements couldn't get funnier/desperate they do, keep em coming Charlie, right up to Admin.

Agree13 Disagree0

We all know Charlie doesn't always engage his brain before speaking.

Any word of the Adidas deal btw? I see they're ready to strike deals with Arsenal & fulham but not a peep about Rangers.

Agree13 Disagree0

Good post Barney Bear think he will be for longer haul than he expected or even wanted if he is looking to leave with big bucks. After recent disclosers in the press think the share issue might be hit, I don't see the rush with it anyway unless we have no money now and if that's the case let him be honest and tell the fans the truth, if he is genuine I know all the Bears would back him if they can, but th e reasons must be very open why he is so desperate to rush this through. The fans need to know his true agenda.
Bobby

Agree9 Disagree0

@7 I don't care whether it is true or not. Just pointing out inconsistancies in.
Al

Agree2 Disagree0

@11, thats the point their isn't inconsistencies, there is if you only read some sections of each story but read the whole part of both and it is quite clear hwat Green meant.

Agree0 Disagree2

He didnt rescue the club from the scrap heap like anyone else who goes to the scrappy he just bought recyclable parts ... fuzzy

Agree6 Disagree0

Excuse my ignorance but what does extrapolate mean.jimbo

just a wee not for the bald **** at dundee utd,we dont want fast tracked in to any new spl or the old one,we are happy where we are and look forward to working our way back to where we belong

Believable19 Unbelievable12

Rangers fans never forget the way the club has been treated by Dundee Utc. Tickets for the league game that was postponed, their chairman talking more about Rangers than he does his own club. Its simple never buy tickets to Tannadice.

Agree17 Disagree15

Also, wasn't the arrogance of Thompson staggering? He's quoted as saying 'I can't see how 11 clubs would agree on the size of leagues, money redistrubution and voting'
Last time I looked there were 42 teams in Scotland not 11 - don't the other 31 get a vote then Mr Thompson?

Agree7 Disagree13

It is that simple mate and also quite easy. unless Utd are relegated or you meet in cup then according to your esteemed leader you'll never meet in league as never coming back to SPL! cant wait to see then how the next soundbite about playing in CL can happen. Embarrassing

Agree13 Disagree4

26 Oct 2012 14:10:30
@ 2: He was talking about changing the voting scheme from 11-1 vote to a 9-3 for SPL matters, last time I checked there were only 42 teams in the SPL.

G93

Agree8 Disagree2

G93, thats a pretty big SPL that you must've checked then. 42 teams? wow what a big division.

Agree3 Disagree0

Thomson is a twisted wee man who hates the gers and i look forward to them going down the tubes as they will in the next 3 years

Agree4 Disagree6

Ah so it's ok for Chuckie boy to bluster his way about the press and Dundee Utd gets slated for sticking up for his club and scottish football.Double standard I think

Agree6 Disagree3

26 Oct 2012 19:49:48
