Oh how I could cry reading most of the posts on here about we need,

More investment

Please please stop.

We take in £30m that could go a lot higher If we get European football. We are by a country mile the second biggest football budget in Scotland if managed right we can compete with them. We need to get to the summer that's our next major task. Remember King is the one one who is giving us loans now if he walks Takeover panel verdict) we are in trouble.

28 Dec 2017 01:01:56
Well said Mulloch, clearly there aren't many business minds on here. Recently FIRB quoted Struth. I shall repeat this. "Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive we must reveal tolerance and sanity. No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome". Never a truer word said. I read and repeat these words everyday as a mantra. I do not encourage blind faith nor do I dismiss the many mistakes the current board have made. However they must start learning from them. I'm sure most will agree that if instead of Pedro we had employed a manager who can get the most out of these tools and 8-10 million summer outlay had been spent wiser then we would not have dropped so many silly points then we could actually have been top of the league given the season Celtic have had. Off the pitch they are light years ahead of us as they have been run prudently for a long while. On the pitch while they are in significantly better shape they are not light years ahead due to the glass ceiling of Scottish football. They have been consistently in the Champions League and could easily afford to spend £10m+ on a single player but they still can't convince big names to come here.

Keep Believing.

28 Dec 2017 10:28:47
Agree. We will always spend money. It's spending it wisely that's the key.
On the park things can change quickly if you get things right.

You don't win a league with money sitting in the bank.

28 Dec 2017 12:57:55
I agree but King promised us as much money needed to be challenging Celtic, whatever it takes he said when he came in, there was no mention of it going to be loans.

28 Dec 2017 19:35:14
Alex, King did promise that and they gave Pedro more than Warburton to spend, hoping he would be the man to do it. sadly he was a tube and it didn’t happen that way but considering our lack of financial income would I not be right in thinking if he didn’t give us the money as loans then we would be breaching FIFA’s fair play rules? If that’s so then I’d rather be pumped out in the first round by some part time “Borat” team than not be allowed to play at all 😏

27 Dec 2017 22:29:52
Okay, just left Ibrox after the game and still raging about some of the shocking tackles. I've just watched the Jack tackle on you tube and just can't believe that from 2 yards away the ref didn't even show a yellow card! It was a straight red every day of the week. I wonder what the outcome would have been had the roles been reversed?

No doubt the tackle will keep Jack out for months. Just what we needed and typical of our luck going into matches against them.
On the plus side it was a good second half performance with Alves and Wilson stand outs at the back. I was really impressed with Barjonas when he came on and also thought Holt did well and must be a shoe in for breezeblock towers. My man of the match was Niko. The guy is quality and always has been.

Ok the legs don't work as well as they used to but some of his touches and passes were just sublime. I would start him on Saturday with some energy around him in the midfield. Up front I thought Herrerra and Morelos worked hard. I think we should try and get balls in to Herrerra's feet as I think he may be effective flicking the ball on for Morelos and any midfield runner.

At least there was some fight on show tonight and if we show the same application on Saturday we can't really grumble. Assuming Jack will be out and Wallace doesn't make it i woukd go with one up top and 3 centrebacks with Wilson sitting just in front of the other 2. Fod, Tav, Alves, Cardoso, Wilson, John, Holt, McCrorie, Barjonas, Kranjcar and Morelos.

It wouldn't be a pretty game but I think we have to have protection for the defence and some real energy in midfield. We really need to roll the sleeves up and get in about them. If things are going well we coukd change it up with the pace of Candeias and Windasd to try and create something for Morelos. As I've said we need to keep it tight, keep our discipline and get I'm about them. It can be done!

27 Dec 2017 23:39:26
U want to win the game yet want Niko in your team, priceless.

28 Dec 2017 00:37:11
I followed the ball and missed the tackle on Jack. Kipre burst herreras nose and injured Jack in the same game but only got a yellow card. The linesmen decided to try and give them 2 throw ins which the ref overturned. It was bizarre. Hate to say it but the level of officiating in this country is beyond a joke. Players just don't get the protection from teams like motherwell who just set up to kick lumps out you. Football in this country won't move forward until something is done. There was also a two footed studs up tackle on holt which only received a yellow. Bowman also led with the arm in the face of tavernier in the 2nd half nothing given. Still we battled through it and got a good win.

28 Dec 2017 02:29:40
Krancjar? The game will go by him if he is picked a waste of a jersey

28 Dec 2017 07:31:52
Niko man of the match? REALLY? I'm sorry but he is well past his best and was well off the pace during last nights game. Still has skill with ball at his feet, but miles to slow. We need more energy in the midfield and this long ball game we are trying is not really working. Teams are stifling us by putting an extra man in midfield . High pressing game required against the dark side or we will be slaughtered!

28 Dec 2017 08:18:59
Aye leave out probably your most technically gifted player. Seems to be the Rangers way these days. I wonder if Gazza and Laudrup would get a game for us. Better selling players like Barrie McKay and bringing in duds like Dalcio to play in his position. Now that's priceless

28 Dec 2017 10:08:57
Seeker you are comparing apples and pears -Gazza and Laudrup had great skill and Krancjar has as well, (but in my opinion nowhere near the same quality as those two) with the ball at his feet- the difference is he has no pace and does not seem fully fit, which leaves you a man down when we lose the ball - No fans had any say in Mckay being sold or signing Dalcio so not getting your argument to be honest!

28 Dec 2017 10:38:36
Aye Geddes I suppose that was Pedro's idea to let McKay go and bring in Dalcio. It just pains me to see people speak about the likes of Niko and Alves and say that they are poor players when quite clearly they are not. Kranjcar was one of the best midfielders in Europe, a class act and most definitely not mince. If he had played like young McCrorie did last night he would have been slaughtered (and no disrespect to the lad. He is young and still learning the game) . I think we really need to find a way to use Niko by way of having eager midfield runners like Holt, Barjonas and McCrorie in there with him. Utilise the talent you have. Walter would have him in there as the mainstay of the team I'm sure of it. I've always loved watching the skilful players turning out for us. Yes the hard men had their place in the team but players like Gazza, Laudrup etc lit the place up. Even when they were having quiet games they would more often than not produce a bit of magic to turn a match. Niko is one of those players imo

28 Dec 2017 10:39:59
I wouldn't start niko Saturday, as we need as much pace/ energy as possible.

But, I think there's a place in the team for niko. We know where we are with him regarding speed, but will always be capable of putting that final ball through- always.

Surely, in a team so reliant on tav/ candias for assists, we can find a place for niko.

28 Dec 2017 10:57:12
Seeker we have had some truly gifted playersover the years and your right- we need a player or two with speed and skill to create the chances for the others. Its a team game and we need to play with what we have consistantly. On his day Niko can change a game - there's no doubt and if he plays Saturday, I'll be right behind him. Murty has to decide how he's going to set up for that to happen.

Anyway its all about opinion, hope the guys show up on Saturday, if they give their all anything can happen! , unfortunately we never know what team is going to show up these days! Enjoy the game, and all the best for 2018 -onwards and upwards!

28 Dec 2017 12:54:24
Some good points well made guys. I just hope that whoever plays on Saturday turns up expecting a battle and leaves all they have on the pitch for this great club. If this proves to be not good enough then we hold our hands up and move on to the next game. Whoever is playing will get my full support.

Unfortunately I will not be there on Saturday as I refuse to give any other club except Rangers my money, but I wish all the bears going there all the best and really hope they have much to shout about. And please, everybody in the ground from both sides - keep the heid and stay safe. After all it is only a game! Lol

28 Dec 2017 12:52:37
Good post The Seeker, would definitely play 3 at the back although think woukd play Bates ahead of Cordoso. If Nico not fit would go with Candeias. Good to see Herrara get a run tonight.

27 Dec 2017 22:28:10
Hello all, I was at the match for the first half but had to leave at half time due to not being well. We listened to most of the second half in the car on the way home and gutted I missed the goals. It was welcome to hackers corner in the first half, Well really are cynical. At least we got the 3 points but at what price?

27 Dec 2017 23:02:32
Shocking tackles and no protection. Unsurprising though with a team of hammer throwers and a useless incompetent like Beaton letting them away with murder. You have to wonder who is paying his wages

27 Dec 2017 23:33:42
Hope you're OK treefinger and feeling better my friend! Ryan jack got a sore one from a hatchet man mate! We'll miss jack against that lot on saturday! Onwards we go though! We must play tight against them on saturday! Stay in the game for as long as we can, flood the midfield and frustrate them! It most certainly is achieveable!

27 Dec 2017 16:38:22
Carlos Pena refuses to rule out a move back to Mexico. Is that a promise? How about Herrera too and Dalcio back to Portugal and Nemane to Manchester and Alves saying his heart's not in it? And Miller celebrating his 38th birthday the other day admitting he can't beat mother nature and past his best? Some of us persist in buying into the dire reality and some of us shout out for change and Rangers back.

28 Dec 2017 00:03:42
u read too many papers

27 Dec 2017 16:21:44
Watched that mob yesterday, to be fair they won at a stroll, think it could be damage limitation for us on the 30 th.

27 Dec 2017 17:44:36
Its all about the Celtic lol.

27 Dec 2017 18:54:39
Says the guy looking around on a Rangers forum 🤔

27 Dec 2017 19:20:58
Dundee were honking aswell though, i think as long as we turn up we'll be fine but our players have got to want it, they aren't as good as they think they are just everybody around them including us don't turn up when we play them, lovely touch by therr fans to sing cheer up neil McCann though after just losing his father, ill wait for the excuses

28 Dec 2017 12:41:01
It's on a Rangers page, Timmy, the very fact that you are even here to read and to comment on it demonstrates the unhinged level of your obsession with Rangers.

27 Dec 2017 16:02:29
Watched that mob yesterday, to be fair they won at a stroll, think it could be damage limitation for udon the 30 th.

27 Dec 2017 16:30:37
wont bother watching then glad you told me

27 Dec 2017 17:35:13
Any supporter's buses running from Renfrew with spare capacity going to Breezeblock Towers on Saturday? If so, can you post details of pick up point and time?

27 Dec 2017 15:36:25
Lassasna diarra is a free agent. he's the type of player we need in that midfield role.

28 Dec 2017 12:49:15
the same one linked with PSG?

27 Dec 2017 11:09:18
It looks like Alves and Wallace will be in the squad tonight. If Wallace can come back it gives us options further forward on the left. Whatever others have said about Alves, he brings experience to the backline. Murty - PLEASE give Hardie a start tonight alongside Morelos. If all are fit, I'd play:
Foderingham; Tavernier, Alves, Wilson, Wallace; McCrorie, Jack, Holt, Pena; Hardie, Morelos.

27 Dec 2017 11:36:04
Doiger what about declan john?

27 Dec 2017 12:33:29
Sorry Swany9, I forgot about him! Probably John for Pena then? I just feel Pena has something to offer and is a goal threat, but he does look rather lazy.

27 Dec 2017 13:46:07
I agree about Pena. Not sure about playing John in the hole though.

27 Dec 2017 16:47:45
I agree about Hardie but I think he would be better to go up on his own as he’s used to playing alone upfront play to his strengths obviously get guys like holt and Pena or whoever plays behind him need to support him but games like Motherwell we should play flat back 4 that defend and McCrorie in front marshalling breaking things down and the rest should be attackers to pen them back and play in their half keep the ball etc etc don’t get sucked into a ding dong battle like we have done this season when it’s been end to end get the ball keep the ball move it fast but effective and break teams down obviously it’s harder than it sounds but these guys are training everyday in the best facility’s in the country and definitely the most loyal and best supporters in the world we expect that the coaches and players be as loyal to our club as we are they may be bang average every week but they still get the same wage if I don’t turn up to work or if I do and do a bad job I would get it in the ear I’d be warned written warning sacked make these guys work for their wage went from team selection to this lol sorry so long but comes from the heart

27 Dec 2017 17:46:25
Any fan that has Pena in his team literally loses all credibility about their knowledge about football, the guy is an imposter of a player.

27 Dec 2017 22:17:54
Pena scores nearly every game he plays I'd play him upfront with morelos doing the hard graft like the old rangers team with Boyd and miller play Pena and Morelos but get why people dislike him very lazy and his first touch isn't the best but we're not exactly Barcelona the guys got the eye for goal .

watched the game tonight played well Motherwell lucky to finish with 10 men but we done well only thing that's doing my head in is the long ball rangers teams in the past played the long ball that's going back to derek Johnstone the man wasn't incredible in the air we could utilise that' but we don't have that so murty has to change either personnel or tactics.

going to Celtic park the piggery as it's better known we are going to have to keep the ball better than tonight last post before new year so have a good one mon the Gers let's ruin their new year lol

27 Dec 2017 22:35:29
Would Pena be in the same mould as Rafael Scheidt then? Just wondering

27 Dec 2017 23:41:12
Yep he would and u know how long he lasted.
Are u defending this guy Seeker?

28 Dec 2017 12:45:18
Pena is probably one of the most technically gifted midfield players at Rangers, he just hasn't got the pace and is performances are not good enough most games. I would rather see him in the team than the likes of Windass

27 Dec 2017 10:49:15
Looking at the list of free transfers a few players stand out - Kenny Mclean, Frank Ross, Murray Davidson, Scott Bain, Mulumbo, Jordan Jones, Alli Crawford. Also Wilson, hardie, krancjar, miller and jordan thomson could leave for nothing.

27 Dec 2017 12:28:59
Geez, is this really the market we're dealing in. Not even the best of Scottish talent, mediocre at best.

Only players that are proven international or are part of youth international have what it takes to play for us.

27 Dec 2017 15:58:55
what next junior players

27 Dec 2017 21:10:24
Mols73, there's that comment about playing for "us" again - if you mean the famous glasgow rangers then that's what we were - in the past, look at what we have become - a laughing stock who took 8 wks to appoint an under 20's coach. Killie and even Ross county can attract managers with enough experience that only Brenda eclipses them. Look how that's paying off for Killie. You talk of the players listed as being mediocre at best, well that's what we are now and will be for years to come.

27 Dec 2017 09:52:54
A hope bears are still going through with the protest outside ibrox tonight to let no how this board how we all feel

SACK THE BOARD
SACK THE BOARD
SACK THE BOARD

27 Dec 2017 10:50:25
Ok southsider, sack the board and then what? You have obviously thought this one through.

27 Dec 2017 10:59:36
hope all 3 of you protesters can cuddle up in your dream cloud and keep warm.

27 Dec 2017 11:41:26
Southsider. How we all feel? Who do you have in mind to be on the Board then? Anyway 3pts is a must tonight

27 Dec 2017 13:03:00
Really - another protest? Give us a break and go and support the team.

27 Dec 2017 13:52:09
And let the board win a don’t think so the league could have been down to 5 points but no it’s 14 the board appoint Murty and there really happy to finish second and have a decent cup run this guy Robertson is running us like we are Hearts Motherwell a don’t think so we are winners league winners treble winner 54 league titles most successful team in the world but way these clowns in charge we will be more of a laughing stock

Wish fellow bears could see this honestly we get beat the night then what is that when the protest begins we lose tonight and they beat us on Saturday we will be 17 points behind and everyone is happy way that am not

SACK THE BOARD NOW

27 Dec 2017 17:47:24
South side, only a few weeks ago, the people that matter and have invested in our great club had the chance to Sack the Board as you put it. They voted to keep them in and even backed them in Resolution 11.
One or two fans with these single minded opinions don’t really matter in the bigger picture. If we sack everyone and start again every time people didn’t like it then we would never progress.
I’m as frustrated as most of the supporters are at the minute but this is the club I love, lucky to still have and will never give up on. Great times will come back again, that is 100% sure. I’m glad that the board are trying to get us back on a debt free footing and run properly as a club, but this all takes time and undoubtedly lots more pain for us fans.
We are the biggest club in the world, have the best fans in the world, one of best stadiums in world and will sometime in future have the great players back playing at Ibrox again. I for one will not be shouting Sack the Board tonight but shouting Back the team. Stick together and grow together, celebrate together.

28 Dec 2017 12:42:04
Great post Redwhiteandblue, very difficult times but let’s all get behind the club and the team.

27 Dec 2017 02:50:15
Hard time to be a bear this last while. Once a club with a stellar worldwide reputation, built on class and integrity from top to bottom. Now look at us, we have became a laughing stock and it only seems to get worse and worse. The players we are now signing or being linked with are completely below par for what we have came to expect from rangers but what else can we expect when we have no money and our board is clueless with the money it does have. We will not get near the manky mob for a long time unless there is somebody willing to stump up major cash to invest in our playing squad and we get a decent manager in. If not then ten in a row for them is a foregone conclusion I'm afraid.

27 Dec 2017 12:19:38
You are right. Problem I have is although I hate where we are just now, I could handle it if it looked like we were moving forward.

Forget about teams of the past, because I don't think we'll see those levels for a long time.

However, to compete for the title i honestly think we have half a team capable, but the Key is to start with the manager. A good manager improves what you have and identifies good players for the weak areas. Without this in place, we will go round in circles for the foreseeable.

In the hands of the right manager £10m or so could go a long way.

27 Dec 2017 12:33:51
Spot on mate, I lived in Manchester for 28 years and a lot of the Manchester lads had a bit of interest in Scottish football and a lot of them supported Rangers, they even have a supporters club and they travel up to watch the Gers. there used to be a lot of interest in the old firm games and the pubs would be relatively full of punters watching it.
But recently and very sadly no one is really interested in Scottish football anymore, I went into a pub in Manchester where normally there would be a good number of punters watching the old firm game and it was empty. our worldwide appeal as a club is definately diminishing rapidly, the board needs to bring investment in and get us back up there amongst the worlds best clubs
