Finally the right management team is in place to take the club forward on to a new level. Over 3 years were wasted on a manager who was clearly not up to the job from day 1 and will probably never manage again except his local pub team. Why he was given 3 years is beyond me. Not a single player improved or any signings were successful under his reign and every player at the club went backwards and were failures. The fact he signed and played Moshni sums it up as this guy was the worst player ever to wear a Rangers Jersey and believe me there have been plenty of poor players over the last few years. Warburton and Weir will be a success for sure. Pity we had to wait over 3 wasted years for a management team of this quality

How do u know there quality bud Warburton s been a manager for 5 mins not really done anything on a first team basis done well at brentford but that all and he won't have been under the pressure he is now so wheres the quality come into it hail hail

Shady boyo or whoever you are this week, would take Warburton in a flash before Delilah and if you are honest(I know that would be tricky )you and most of your cohorts would feel the same way,I sense some anxiety from yourself, no need to worry this season unless we get yous in one of the cups,10 in a row dream on shakeyboy.

My God I fear for your sanity!!After a shaky start in a new country with no coaches nobody he even knew & look now after 1 year. His methods & vision took a team that where no Hoper's & just made the numbers up to the League Title!!After bedding himself in & the team buying into his philosophy a young fit squad is being assembled.Teenage next generation squad training with the 1st team.Young players out on loan for 1st team football. The future looks pretty good under RD after 1 year. Let's give The bread man a chance & see how after 1 year bedding himself & his squad how things go. A double of league & PTC are a must anything less is a Failure. I hope he & yous bears keep on enjoying the Journey.

Behave sotonbear, he has had 2 years in management, that is it. That is all we know. Runners up in Division 1 having missed out in the play off final under Uwe Rossler the season before and play offs in Championship. It's good, I like the guys dedication and commitment and I do think he'll be a good appointment but take him over Delia in a flash, haha aye right.

This is part of your problem absolutely no sense of perspective, no looking at it from the other side, it's not your strong point is it sotonbear? Deila won a top tier title with an unfancied team. He took a provincial team that in his first 2 seasons struggled with relegation and in the next three years won the Norwegian Cup and the league (their first in 43 years, which is perhaps akin to Derby County winning the English title therefore.) He has the balls to give one of Europe's most promising youngsters a debut at 13 (uncompetitive I grant you but Norwegian rules more or less prevented otherwise). He moves to a new country, rocky start admittedly but gets better and more importantly once he has his feet under the table makes two signings both of whom have already paid their fees I'd say and they only arrived in January.

So top leagues in 2 countries won, great record with youngsters, signings seem good when up to speed with the task and can turn a team around. Warburton, if you want an argument, takes over a play-off final team and elevates them one slot, goes into the next season with momentum, always a good thing and to be fair does great and gets to play-offs. Thing is I can admit that's a good achievement, your blue goggles prevent you doing anything bar talking sh*te.

So if you don't mind I'll stick with the 39 year old over the 52 year old, albeit I think the 52 year old is a good manager. But the chips on my shoulder don't weigh me down enough to prevent me from saying he's good, that's maybe the difference.

Big tits
What a load of tosh. A monkey in charge at Parkheid would have won that league without a strong Rangers. I would say Delilah has been a failure so far given his dismal foray into Europe, getting humped by Legia and papped out by Maribor in the CL qualifiers and then riding his luck in a poor Europa section. Failure to win a treble against poor opposition is a big fat failure in my book. In fact I'm going to predict that some of you lot will be calling for Ronny's head at some point in the early part of the season, probably around the time of your CL qualifying humping

Sotonbear do u honestly believe the garbage u come out with? We would rather have a guy who had 2 years of management at Brentford! Yes that's rite Brentford! Over someone who's won titles in 2 countries! And the only anxiety I've got about meeting use in a cup is wondering wether to go to the bookies and put sum money on use actually havin a shot on target this time! Anxiety about meetin u in the cup hahaha! I've heard sum belters but that's got to be up there with the best! It's going to take more than Wilson and sum Wigan reject to have broony and his champs worryin mate! Oh and 35 year old injury prone Derby rejects to! I forget, did he sign for use again? Hahaha

Clearly my post last week didn't penetrate that blue tinged brain of yours soton, we did better in Europe last season than the year before going by euro coefficient points.

As for challenging us sooner than we think, how is that possible? Everyone and their dog expected you up last season, we expected the challenge to begin THIS SEASON. Man do you put a seconds thought into what you type. Stop you are embarrassing yourself.

Gaz probably all football fans are "guilty" of concerning themselves with the small picture. "Our attendances are bigger than your's" "We sold more season tickets than you did"
"Our European co-efficient went up"- even though we stayed in longer than the football results would normally have dictated through ignorance of the rules by officials of other clubs.
Let me admit here Gaz your club has disappeared over the horizon compared to my club. Celtic have bought quite well and found players who look excellent players up here but do not set the heather on fire when they move to tougher/ more competitive leagues.
Small countries futures are in developing their own youth.
Rangers lost badly, but nonetheless were in the semi-final of the European Cup, to Eintracht Frankfurt. Celtic won the European Cup in 1967 and Rangers the Cup Winners Cup in 1972 a feat replicated by Aberdeen in the 80s.
The common denominator is that these three teams were populated only by Scots.
When it comes to financial clout even if our top teams could compete which they cannot which top top player would come to the backwater of Scotland for unsustainably high but lower wages and little to no competition?
Rangers had the opportunity to try this "new" template but we had the wrong manager and the wrong governance.
Real Madrid , Barcelona and Bayern Munich are in a league of their own. They have always been able to secure the cream of the crop e.g in the 1960 final at Hampden which my father assures me was the greatest game ever played Madrid had 3 foreigners- the Arentinian Goalie plus De-Stephano and Puskas. The Frankfurt team were 11 Germans.
England have teams now with the financial clout to compete for the top players because of the ridiculous Sky Money.
But the big picture for Scottish clubs who will never compete with the big European sides is do you want second or third rate guys who you can sell on for a profit and keep the shareholders happy- which maybe today's reality, or do you want a team to be proud of who can occasionally have a real tilt at European glory?

Ahhh the old whenever I say something stupid resort to the fishing excuse defense, getting as predictable as "obsessed". Tons and tons of wanabee fishermen on this site, invariably announcing their intentions right after saying something utterly dumb.

Okay in very basic English which even you will understand Soton, you said "we will be challenging yous a lot sooner than u think." Didn't last season kind of dent that? In that everyone expected Rangers to get promoted last season. If it was sooner wouldn't you already be in the SPL? Isn't the three year journey already in it's fourth season? Now maybe I'm missing something but I'd say you are about 365 days behind schedule, correct me if I'm wrong. So given that, and forgive me for pointing out the obvious, isn't it you that is talking pish?

Great post Mannering, it's hard to say. Laudrup £2.3m, Larsson £670,000. The bargains are there with a good enough scouting system. You are spot on regards the template for Rangers as of 2012, the board didn't care and McCoist knew no better, huge opportunity missed, a team of youngsters blooded for three years but the curse of "win at all costs" permeated every decision. I'm not saying we would have behaved any differently though last season purely for CL reasons and the cash it brings I wanted Moyes over Deila. Every manager's first season in Europe seems to be a nightmare, remember that for Warburton in the future and cut him appropriate slack.

The financial gulf suggests maybe home grown is all we can do, bear in mind we don't have the lax rules certain countries do regards non EU players so their advantage even goes beyond financial in some cases. But generally it will be home grown, Eastern European and Scandinavian for the foreseeable future, even the Championship in England has more cash sloshing about. So we really don't have a choice and the marquee signings of anything beyond £4m are long, long gone.

Camoo

Nice to see someone bought you a braille laptop

McCulloch signed on for an extra 2 years of pension and old pals wages of £70k a MONTH plusin total pocketed £2.1million over 3 years of our financial troubles.

Think - with Ally's £3.2million and Jig's £2.1million that is Ashley's loan paid off. Add to that that both McCoist and McCulloch were the most inept and talent free individuals ever in their chosen positions.

Does that annoy anyone as much as it annoys me. For anyone saying this is in the past please note McCoist is still draining our bank account, loans from the Board, of £75k a month, Mr Legend . not.

If its loan stickers we are looking at we could do a lot worse than young Elliott Lee at West Ham, according to some of my hammers mates this lad really knows where the back of the net is, he has been farmed out on loan a few times,to gain experience, maybe a cheaper option with maybe the chance of something more permanent.

Looking at the official site today , we've got the making of a good young squad. Personally I think we r still way off the complete team and I hope the management r thinking the same. Defence is lookin good (for a change), but we still urgently need proven gutsy players : GK ; strong talented midfielder; regular scoring striker, for starters. I know there are more signings still to come, but am not confident yet of winning the league let alone competing with premier teams if we get a cup run. The plan should be to get the team bedded in, get the league won with enough time to experiment with the young squad for the push into the premier. Next summer should be just refining the squad with a couple more signings. Here's hopin.

just thought i'd put my thoughts on warburton out there iv been reading into what he has actually done. first of all this guy has traveled all over the world in his quest for ideas and inspiration on training and coaching methods in his quest to become a coach/manager seemingly making a lot of close friends with a load of highly influential people at top top clubs who have been really impressed with his coaching methods it looks like this guy is well connected.

he has collected an award for the work he has put into football academies one of them was watford look at them now in the premier league with one of the best youth development programs in the country in place now that is some doing for a relatively small club and warburton was the man behind that.

he was also one of three men who created the next-gen series which has revolutionised youth football all over Europe and we all know how big a part he played in building brentford from the ground up.

this guy has built himself some reputation and I can not see him signing for us unless certain things were in place for him to continue enhancing that rep one of those things being money.i for one believe in king and the money is there but this guy believes in working his players really hard and getting the very best out of each and every player he has.

How stupid would it be to go out and spend million to win the championship when you don't have to.what top class player who is valued in the millions bracket is going to come down to the championship anyway even if it is only 1 season come on get real.

warburton realises this and is bringing in players that will be solid and do a good job I hope I don't end up eating my words but I think rangers have really knocked it off getting this guy future is looking blue again.

I agree 100% first thing I did on hearing we were connected with him was research his biography and it is awesome as on top of what you said he financed this himself from his London Trader earnings. That shows desire and initiative. I am so hopeful now as if we can get the run of luck we are surely due after 3 years of bad luck in Whyte, Green, Ahmad, Stockbridge, Easedales, Leach and Llambass PLUS Ashley to top that, we could become a new exciting innovative club. Let's face it Aberdeen did it under Ferguson so Rangers can do more IF we get the luck you always need.

My only concern is that I believe after 3 years Warburton and Weir will be the hottest management pair in British football so if I were King and we start to look very good and are promoted I would break the bank to sign them up for 7 years.
