Iceland has a population of 331,763.

Well done.

27 Jun 2016 23:33:42
Maybe we should be trying to sign some of the players from tonight's game . Hart can't be worth much after that performance. I'm sure we could pick up Kane or Stirling for peanuts after tonight.
Boom Boom.

28 Jun 2016 02:21:56
They have the same problem as Scotland. The manager is a waste of space. At least Hodgson had the decency to resign!

28 Jun 2016 08:16:13
And certain players should follow messis lead and retire because it ain't going to happen for them.

28 Jun 2016 10:48:40
Well, putting things into perspective, two of the teams that finished above us in our group are still undefeated, into the quarter finals and you wouldn't rule either out of a place in the final.

The other team were beaten narrowly in the last 16 by the hosts and tournament favourites.

Looks like we did have the toughest qualifying group as I said and our World Cup group is obviously of a lesser standard albeit with a place less to qualification.

28 Jun 2016 11:38:07
Remember only one team qualify from the WC group. England will beat us, Slovakia will beat us, Slovenia will be tough. That leaves Malta and Lithuania.

Hmmmm. Euro 2020 anyone?

28 Jun 2016 12:02:10
Agreed we have no chance of getting to Russia and the further we fall down the pecking order come the next euros we will be in one of the lowest pots which mean we will possibly get another tough group, I don't know when we will ever get to another major tournament, and it's so frustrating being a Scotland fan.

28 Jun 2016 13:22:15
no chance unless we use the young boys to dod the job the old boys must go along with Strachan.

27 Jun 2016 21:53:34
How many people said England were lucky to draw Iceland?

Woops.

28 Jun 2016 04:46:57
they were, could you imagine the score if they got a good team in the draw.

27 Jun 2016 19:21:07
Can people stop posting lineups featuring Mariappa! He's not our player and most likely never will be, if he wanted to join and wasn't more concerned with a few grand a week more he'd be in the US right now!

27 Jun 2016 23:10:43
It's a rumour site πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ.

28 Jun 2016 11:26:53
Correct and it's no longer a rumour.

28 Jun 2016 13:24:01
infact rfcinfinity it is still a rumour just because you say it isn't doesn't make it so chief!

27 Jun 2016 19:06:40
It had to happen. After a great summer of business we had to be hit with bad news sooner or later and today was that day.
Kirk Broadfoot has signed a contract extension at Rotherham. I'm sure a helpline will be set up soon too help us all get over the deverstation we are all feeling just now that he can't resign for us 😜.

27 Jun 2016 20:09:43
They definitely have egg on their face for that move, or is it him?

27 Jun 2016 22:15:42
He was a worker on the park not the most gifted player but a Rangers man and a fan of the club.

28 Jun 2016 12:04:22
The guy gave his all for the club and he offered to stay but because of his high wages he was told he could leave, so all the best kirk.

28 Jun 2016 14:02:13
legend! lmao.

27 Jun 2016 19:06:05
Great team performance from Italy playing 5-3-2 (3-2-3-2) against an unconvincing 4-3-3. Italy's strategy and tactics superb with plan B and C :-) Hope they do it against the Germans!

27 Jun 2016 19:37:24
Here's hoping! Have a tenner on them at 18/1. Looking good just now.

28 Jun 2016 07:21:39
Im afraid to say lads the germans will dominate the tallys resistace is futile mon the germany.

28 Jun 2016 09:20:05
The Germans haven't beating Italy in a tournament ever.

28 Jun 2016 11:02:13
Seeker I also have that tenner on at 18/ 1 plus a fiver on Pelle for top scorer, Mon the Italians.

28 Jun 2016 12:11:09
After watching Italy during the competition I have to say I fancy them to win it, they don't lose many goals, and their manager looks great, before the euros started the talk in Italy was that this was the worst Italian team ever to reach a major tournament, lol
Chelsea look to have a great boss for next season.
On to England, they thought all they had to do was turn up and beat little Iceland, maybe it's time for them to admit their just not as good as they think they are, I thought iceland looked a decent side.

27 Jun 2016 17:16:11
We played last season with basically two at the back with no real CDM to cover (Hailday was poor there I don't care what anyone says its not his natural position but let's no pretend) and fullbacks that honestly spent more time in the opposition box than ours so why are they receiving far more criticism than the fan favourites?

But all I read is "this CB is shit should be dropped for x y z", "Wes is a bomb scare" (dumb people who don't know what playing out from the back looks like expecting perfection like its the advocaat era)

These same people insist in putting Haliday in the team. I can't see one cm in the team that's worse than him (bad of a good crop) . Who cares where he was born and who he supports he's a non starter next season lucky to make the bench with the quality we have.

Yet all i see is "we need to replace wes, we need to sort our centre backs" The same part of the team playing with the bare minimum every game, with a makeshift CDM who wasn't good enough (Ball was far better than Haliday in CDM) but you know fan favourites and all.

Then there's tav and Wallace. I think Wallace is a class player and I personally think he can defend but what about Tav? Where is the criticism for him? He was hardly a solid right back in terms of being a defender he was more of a right winger.

Our team is vastly more experienced now and the CB's should be given a chance to function in a team that might actually be able to defend for once. You defend as a team and on more occasions than one the fullbacks and CDM were posted missing. For me RK (for me is the shakier of the two) and DW were class in the big games, where they actually had a fullback and a CDM to help them out. And before you mention the final the whole team wasn't at it. Clean sheets for our defence next season, hopefully with the experience of Hill and another CB competing for places will sure up this but for me the fault lay with the team more than the individuals.

27 Jun 2016 18:22:33
How do you know that anybody that rates Halliday likes him because he's a fans favourite, me personally has never made posts stating we have to play him because fans love him😳,
Your post states that we don't like Wes because it's called playing from the back and not to expect perfection like advocat era. Actually mate if you read people's view there mostly saying he doesn't command his box, nothing to do with playing out from back, ( dumb people that don't read posts properly and interperate them without thinking)

People are right to question both Cb's and the goalie, there really not that good, but I suppose Ross that makes people dumb eh, πŸ™„.

27 Jun 2016 18:23:49
100% agree mate i can see Warburton playing 3 cbs with 2 wing backs this season . reason we lost so many goals last season was because we only had wes Wilson and kiernan at the back.

27 Jun 2016 19:13:51
I just want to say, your first sentence doesn't really make sense the whole concept of being a fan favourite is that people like you, are you going to pretend he isn't one of our most popular players? he is a fan favourite fact. I'm commenting on what i'm reading below, I commented on the experience coming in such as the new keeper and clint hill, they will obviously help with there game and if not they will be ready to step in I'm just saying that our defence had the bare minimum last season. You forget they kept out premiership opposition last season that makes them good in my book, maybe lacking experience or the fact that obviously they don't have much support. Look how they play when we are playing against better opposition. We defend properly with the correct numbers and a correct cdm (Dom Ball) .

27 Jun 2016 19:14:52
We tried playing 3 CBs last year and still looked vulnerable.

28 Jun 2016 11:08:19
RossW, whilst I agree with the concept of what u are saying, Tav came in for some awful criticism (which was unwarranted) on this page in particular at the tail end of the season. I agree that the CB's were left exposed by the lack of a natural CDM which is key in the way MW wants to play allowing both fullbacks to be an attacking threat and allowing another dimension going forward. MW tried to get Eustace on board last season for that very purpose.

But don't think for a minute Tav received no criticism last season because he surely did!

28 Jun 2016 12:41:21
Ross strong words pal, just because some fans don't agree with u, doesn't mean their dumb, that's why we all love football, we all have our own views on how to play and who should be playing,4.3.3 will be the formation for the foreseeable future or until the gaffer leaves, he's got the full academy playing the same formation from under 9,s to the first team, now we have a proper midfield our centre backs should have more protection, as for haliday yeah he's a fans favourite but I can't see him being a first pick next season, he's now going to have to fight to wear that jersey where as last season their was no competition and several players new they were getting a game no matter if they were good or bad, as for tav, well he's not a defender, I would give him a go further up the park, but that's only my opinion.

27 Jun 2016 16:03:22
GK foderingham
RB tavernier
CB mariappa? .
CB Kiernan
LB Wallace
RW McKay
LW o halloran
Cam kranjcar
CM Barton
St Fernando adi? .
St/ Cf waghorn

would that team win the spfl title?

27 Jun 2016 16:55:03
RK over Wilson I don't agree. Wilson was far more consistent especially in the games that mattered. The guy was struggling at the start of the season and was forced to play through injury because we had no other cb's (Before dom ball established himself) I remember him getting subbed at 50 then missing two games and coming back much better. Has to be the most exaggerated player when it comes to negativity RK wasn't pulling out half the last ditch tackles that Wilson was not to mention Wilson's superior quality on the ball.

Never see the criticism for the likes of Haliday, Wallace or Tav when it comes to defending but I guess that's what happens when you are fan favourites.

27 Jun 2016 17:18:18
and Wilson is a LCB and RK is a RCB, in that system Rk doesn't play.

27 Jun 2016 17:18:53
Tav has had a lot of criticism on here for defending.

27 Jun 2016 17:24:18
Yeah i mean relative to our CB's and keeper in comparison to tav and haliday? or even wallace at times made defensive errors.

27 Jun 2016 19:40:50
Wilson is hopeless imo he tries making these 30 yard passes (and fails) when he can't even make a 5 yard pass without it being tight, he's slow and really not too convincing in a tackle! Easily replaceable if you ask me! At least tav and waldo contributed with goals.

27 Jun 2016 23:04:31
Cj1010 see if u watched all the games back wilsons one one defending is outstanding when he's one on one in the box defending 99% of the time he times it perfectly and wins possesion back his composure in these situations is second to none distribution is poor sometimes but he's there to defend.

28 Jun 2016 07:16:56
I watched all the games mate and Danny Wilson strolls about thinking he's gerrard and he's still Liverpool quality and yer talkin pash with your 99% guys a dud.

28 Jun 2016 08:58:02
Gerrard is a cm wilson is a cb so the pash talking is on your side mate wilson is a defender your judging him on his distrabution he just needs some experience beside him but a stand by my comment on his one on one defending he's not got pace but can read a game well.

28 Jun 2016 12:21:06
I didn't mean he plays like him I mean he strolls about like he's the dogs balls and clearly isn't! He's played next to experienced players since he left rangers to be a pl superstar and got found out! Fair doos he done a job for hearts but again was in a diddy league! He will never be a top class defender all potential no finished article!

28 Jun 2016 12:23:16
And the fact we have became a team who passes from back to front distribution is going to be a major factor! Believe it or not I'm not in the habit of criticising players but he just doesn't do it for me! May prove me wrong.

28 Jun 2016 12:48:33
Listen rossiter, hill, windass, crooks possibly gilks will all be first picks along with Barton obviously, our starting 11 for our first league game in August will be majorly different from our last league game in the championship, as the gaffer said himself he built a team to win the championship last year, now he's building a team to win the premiership, I also think young hardie might get his chance this year or go out on loan one last time.

28 Jun 2016 12:54:54
Danny Wilson is still Young and has a lot to learn, give it time and he could grow into a great central defender.

28 Jun 2016 14:44:52
Waghorn isn't a cf but so why play him there.

27 Jun 2016 14:23:09
I think Waggy will play his part next season, but ultimately he will be second choice, as I believe we're going to secure quality there.
He scored lots of Scottish championship goals plus penalties. But he untested against higher class for me, I would be stunned if Warbs doesn't bring in a number 9, penalty box striker, can u imagine all of the games we could have killed off last season after 30 minutes if we had one.
Warbs said time after time like a broken record, in after game interviews, that were not clinical enough, W&W and mcparland will surely know this. And someone will be brought in.

27 Jun 2016 16:55:53
He's a winger in reality, played as a makeshift striker in a poor league. Miller was our only true striker.

28 Jun 2016 12:56:29
Warburton has already said he's looking to bring in another striker.

27 Jun 2016 13:22:15
Anybody want Will Grigg.

27 Jun 2016 19:16:27
No, he is about fourth choice for NI!

27 Jun 2016 12:46:58
Mark warburton stating on sky sports he hopes to have another signing in early this week however the player in question won't be flying out to america as he has been playing in the euros.

27 Jun 2016 12:56:05
Most likely to be Lee Hodson?

27 Jun 2016 13:32:46
lee hodson? is he any good I've not seen to much of mk dons that season?

27 Jun 2016 14:29:20
Kyle Lafferty?

27 Jun 2016 14:31:57
Must be hazard or pogba.

27 Jun 2016 17:25:23
I bumped into Bale's 4th cousin's neighbour who says he needs to leave Madrid pronto after Brexit and assures me he's on his way to Ibrox.

28 Jun 2016 15:17:02
Big Zlatan πŸ˜‰.

27 Jun 2016 11:54:09
I would not have Wison, Kiernan or Wes near that starting 11, Wilson has a habit of putting us under pressure, because he's not that good at the passing that warbs likes, Wes can't command a box, and Kiernan makes howlers, remember him just letting stokes score in the cup final for there first goal.

I agree with one of the previous posts that W&W will not know exactly yet what best team is, so we're all kinda playing football manager with our selections, although 1 point i would like to make is it makes a refreshing change that we can do that and it is fun. But my 11 is based on maybe 1 or 2 singings that are very possibly coming so hear goes,
Gilks

Wallace, Marriappa, crooks TaV
Barton
Rossister. Halliday
Krancjar ( New Striker) Mckay

I believe Halliday deserves to keep a place, as he never suited the holding role. And think warbs won't through all last years team left.

27 Jun 2016 12:02:24
No waghorn not having that I think he will be a starter and holt over Halliday for me but each to there own.

27 Jun 2016 12:20:15
Have to agree with poster regarding Foderingham, Wilson and Kiernan all were shown up in the championship last season and are clearly not good enough for the step up. Kiernan's performance in the cup final was as bad as I've seen and to allow Stokes to score unchallenged is u forgivable.

27 Jun 2016 12:28:52
Ryan, I'm not disagreeing with you, like u said each to their own, but I feel Halliday was good out of the holding midfielder role, and a role further up you'll see him really kick own plus he's a young man and will learn a lot from Niko and Joey, but in a way the same goes for holt, tbh it doesn't matter which one keeps in starting 11, warbs will make sure it's on merit anyway.

As for Waghorn, I don't think he'll start every game but will have a massive part to play, so I'm not completely discounting him, it's because I think there's going to be a high quality guy brought in, a good number 9, in the Niko and Barton bracket.

I mean would you put it past W&W and mcparland to get a high quality striker after what we have seen so far?

27 Jun 2016 12:37:47
I feel Waghorn would play in that formation ahead of Kranjcar. Waghorn has more pace, power, and carries a real goal threat. .

27 Jun 2016 13:39:29
don't forget about clint lol!
I think the team will be rotated and everyone will get their chance especially the middle of the park as we have some real quality there! i'd like to see a solid back four not getting rotated and maybe big clint being as old as the hills will play cup games.

27 Jun 2016 14:02:10
have doubts if either holt or halliday will be first choice starters.

27 Jun 2016 15:35:20
Also don't forget Jordan Rossiter signed to get the first team football chance that he was not getting, and unlikely to get, at Liverpool. Although I'm sure the rotation thing will come into play, Warbs hasn't bought him to have last season's players in front of him.

27 Jun 2016 16:56:51
Talks about wilson and RK and wants to start Haliday over holt. Senseless decision.

27 Jun 2016 18:08:34
Yeah Ross most people are just stating there opinion, which mate there entitled too. they give there ideas, if everyone had the same ideas it would be boring, calling people senseless, is poor.

28 Jun 2016 13:14:46
Based on the players we have at the moment will we be 4-4-2 or what?
What do you think bears?
