28 Aug 2016 21:38:48
Is stephen caulker attached to any club. Would he be an option? Celtic were linked in july with him but signed toure instead.

28 Aug 2016 22:15:46
Plays for QPR.

28 Aug 2016 22:25:38
Is he not on 90k a week?

29 Aug 2016 06:59:04
not a chance lads, wouldn't drop his basic wage when we were interested apparently.

28 Aug 2016 20:57:00
Well this will be an interesting week. Don't believe even the likes of Barton or NIko will have experienced anything like it, undefeated, second top in the league, and yet are all on their backs. Really need MW and DW to show leadership, provide grip and settle things down. I think MW will show his mettle and rise to the challenge. He needs to be brave and step toward. Hopefully he is speaking and receiving wise counsel from the likes of Walter and feels the support from all of us and rises to the challenge. Some of the comments on here have been unfair and too much of a rush to judgement. In MW we trust.

28 Aug 2016 22:08:51
Well said Fd.

28 Aug 2016 22:31:57
Yip well said mate.

28 Aug 2016 23:21:20
Sorry guys, we've played nobody and struggled. If we do not dramatically improve and quickly, we can only hope for top 6 at best.
Reality is painful but we could not have picked a better set of games to get us going. The next half dozen could be painful.
Fingers crossed things start to fall into place.

29 Aug 2016 00:48:42
Bil72

The first 4 fixtures were probably the best we could have hoped for but we have struggled in all of them.

29 Aug 2016 02:07:41
It seems he's being found out against top tier clubs (Struggled v The lower SPL clubs) . Will there be a plan B against cfc, Aberdeen, RC, Hearts, St Johnstone ICT)? When the pressures on in the SPL his mettle will be tested to the max. Only time will tell but it could be allover before its begun. From squads to finances, retail, income etc cfc are lite years ahead and the penny will have finally dropped that there's no quick fix. Get used to it as 3rd or 4th place is a reality which will be hard to take.

29 Aug 2016 07:13:31
if your a glass full guy, we are unbeaten lol.

29 Aug 2016 08:03:35
Loki

Yeah your right mate this is going to be a very tough season with a very rude awaking not just for the fans but the manager and some of the players. Think soon Warburton will find out what it's really like to be a Rangers manager and the pressures that go with it.

29 Aug 2016 08:32:48
why is that hard to take loki, youve come up a division, spent very little, and 3rd or fourth in your eyes is not good enough? Need to walk b4 you can run mate.

29 Aug 2016 09:50:22
Did anyone actually think it was going to be an easy season?

28 Aug 2016 18:25:13
Is there any other players that can step in and play CB if wilson is injured for long and we don't sign one. Who else could step in there, we know crooks but he's not fit. We have the young boy frm raith but who else apart frm hill? Is there anyone we could try in there?

28 Aug 2016 21:54:15
Give the young guy a game against linfield to see how he does could be the answer you never know until you give the young ones a chance.

29 Aug 2016 08:53:21
if we were in a desperate place, we could use Wallace and put hodson at leftback. Crooks is close to fitness so we could use him at CB, would be a risk but he could do it.

28 Aug 2016 18:00:18
So looks like jolene is signing for an Italian team. Always thought Scotland was closer to England than Italy. Ah well you learn something new every day.

28 Aug 2016 18:35:20
yeah dispels the myth about "family reasons" not wanting to take his kids out of school in england.

28 Aug 2016 19:28:50
Heard it was aek Athens.

28 Aug 2016 21:19:36
Just like when Julien Fuabert turned down st Johnstone as he had an offer from a team in a warmer climate which turned out to be killie. Can't make this stuff up.

28 Aug 2016 21:57:48
Dodged a bullet there; family reasons or lack of cash, whatever, it leaves a worry about what sort of player can be attracted to the Club.

29 Aug 2016 08:05:56
Don't know why people constantly say we dodged a bullet not getting Lescott. The team keeps losing silly goals down to the defence and Lescott is an improvement on Hill and Kiernan.

28 Aug 2016 21:32:10
Aek Athens are greek.

28 Aug 2016 17:24:12
I really dnt know why people say the problem is in defence! yes we could be better - but we play attacking possession play- And There Is Nothing In the final 3rd. we need wingers that can beat a man and get to the by line- none of this runnin and turnin bk carry on-if we get that than am sure waggy n garner will put them away.

28 Aug 2016 18:18:48
Didn't see much attacking possession play against Hamilton, Motherwell and Kilmarnock in the first half when we lost goals.

29 Aug 2016 00:11:17
8 and 9 man defence from opposition do you think any other team will break that down remember barcelona couldn't do it when they came to ibrox.

28 Aug 2016 16:56:34
Has anyone else been underwhelmed with Barton and Kranjcar?

I really thought these 2, particularly Barton, would give us an edge over Celtic in midfield this season but at this point I'd be happier going into the game on the 10th with a midfield 3 of Rossiter, Halliday and Forrester. Kranjcar just isn't fit and we can wait 3 months for him to get up to speed - poor call to sign a guy who has been cruising for a few years now going into our first season back in the SPFL where we can't afford any passengers. As for Barton, he's fit enough and has the ability but that comment he made back in the summer about being better than anyone up here makes me think he's expecting to stroll it - hasn't been the case so far and doubt it will get any easier so either he needs to knuckle down and start showing his qualities or he can drop out for a lad who's never let us down. Andy Halliday.

I'm really concerned about the old firm game given our start and Celtics start to the season. Need a centre half of some quality before the window shuts and hope the occasion inspires the likes of Barton to up their game.

28 Aug 2016 17:12:17
While I agree that Barton has not been as good as I thought he would have been, he has been better than Rossiter, who in my opinion has been over hyped.

28 Aug 2016 18:32:36
Kranjcar changed the game against Motherwell although I do agree he needs to get up to speed quickly! rossister has made more of a impact than Barton in my opinion.

28 Aug 2016 19:30:29
Boss Hogg you must have eyesight like Stevie wonder if you think rossiter is overrated and been worse than Barton.

28 Aug 2016 21:27:22
Boss hogg you my friend are full of barry white rossiter is a stand out puts in 100% every game he plays.

28 Aug 2016 21:41:28
The way I see it is that Nico can't be a sub. He struggles to get up to the pacenof the game. I think he has to start games and then maybe be taken off in the 2nd half if he's tiring.

28 Aug 2016 21:54:10
Personally I've been impressed with Rossiter, particularly on his first start for us. He's a young guy trying to impress and consistency may be an issue this season but I've got far more patience with a young lad like Rossiter than I have for seasoned pros like Barton and Kranjcar.

IMO expectations were that Barton and Kranjcar were going to give us that quality that we needed this season stepping up a division. At this stage I'm not convinced.

28 Aug 2016 22:20:52
Brogie, rossiter has been average . Maybe not as bad as Barton but I've not saw much to get excited about as yet. Over hyped thus far!

29 Aug 2016 07:56:03
When Barton made the comment about wanting to be the best player in Scotland and he would boss Brown, i said on here he shouldn't be making comments like that and just do his talking on the park but i was slated for it, people saying he's right to say what he wants etc, yeah ok, where are those people now? the guy has been very mediocre, he NEEDS to produce against celtic.

29 Aug 2016 08:08:36
Think Rossiter has done ok so far however he hasn't been the superstar some people on here think and thought he was poor against Kilmarnock.

28 Aug 2016 18:01:00
Agree about Barton but
Kranjcar will come good, you can see what he has to offer already, class player, he creates openings and it's up to others to finish them off.

28 Aug 2016 16:22:25
Senderos dragging his heels over a deal i would tell him to do 1 and look at other targets.

28 Aug 2016 16:31:12
hes the wrong choice imo-----a good manager would sort the problems out----wait till January see what's available.

28 Aug 2016 16:57:02
This is shocking the way we are going about trying to sign a defender this late in the transfer window.

29 Aug 2016 09:16:55
Don't get this with guys having medicals then having second thoughts.

28 Aug 2016 15:31:33
Does anyone else think we could push tavernier further up the pitch on the right hand side of the front 3 and replace him with hodson at right back as he is in no doubt good at going forward and attacking but hodson is by far the better defensively and they could work a lot better down the right rather than tavernier bombing forward and us being left exposed at the back time and time again?

28 Aug 2016 17:02:01
no chance no where near talented enough to be a winger in a front 3. he's good coming from deep with ball.

28 Aug 2016 22:45:49
Why are we still going on about replacing Tav at RB? He's been by far our best player so far. Not that the rest have set the bar high.

28 Aug 2016 14:58:48
i would like us to try this line up

Foderingham

Hodson
Wilson
NEW CB
Wallace

Taverbier
Rossiter
Holt

Forrister/ or Windass

Waghorn
GArner.

28 Aug 2016 15:33:43
Eh naw, so you are playing Tavernier as part of a 3 man midfield 😂😂
You do know he plays full back? If you changed his position it would be to RWB or RM surely not part of a narrow 3?

28 Aug 2016 18:49:31
i do know yes, and Forrester/ Windass as a 4th midfield/ forward position. can't be any worse than we are doing at present with all the midfielders getting in each others way.

28 Aug 2016 21:44:30
TGR. Have you forgotten about a certain Dutch Fernando who was a RB, got moved into midfield for us and played a stormer of a season winning joint player of the year with Hartson? So I wouldn't dismiss the notion so quickly.

28 Aug 2016 22:11:07
thanks Parky, that was where i was coming from
its got to be worth a try, he;s fast and has an eye for goal too.

29 Aug 2016 00:06:00
Hopefully when we get a few players back from
Injury we will be okay! Biggest concern from Friday night for me was the lack of depth on the bench. Other than Nico we had no one that could come on and change the game. Looking forward to seeing how Windass does in the Premier, he looked good in pre season. Garner looks like a real battler and will work his socks of for the team. He didn't have the best of games but like the way he put him self about and hopefully when he settles in he will do the Buisness! Reminds me of Novo a little bit in the way he fights for every ball. Glad we didn't sign Lescott he would have been on good money and spent most of the season injured. Still think we might pull off a suprise loan signing before the window shuts.

28 Aug 2016 15:34:29
Aye wee Bill me to think that's the way to go tav in midfield with his pace and directness
wheres aird is he not back with the squad.

28 Aug 2016 16:13:32
I would like to see tav pushed as far forward as possible he's great at attacking and some of the balls he was putting in the box against Killie where great. He's not the best at defending but don't get me wrong his defending so far this season hasn't been to bad. All we need is a decent result against Celtic and it could totally change our season. we can only hope and pray.

28 Aug 2016 14:18:41
So ross your saying u would drop tav who's been our best player so far in my opinion but u would keep keirnan in the team, I don't know how u can keep defending him the guys woeful nowhere near rangers class.

28 Aug 2016 15:13:29
He's a big dumpling, after that back tracking in cup final when stokes scored, woeful, kids stuff, get him rite to f.

28 Aug 2016 14:11:40
question for the sensible posters on here, can you honestly tell me that if it wasnt a rangers man in charge (DK), had led you up the garden path with his stories that you wouldn't already be kicking the doors down like you did with previous imposters, seems to me because he's a bear that people are believing his BS, he has invested nothing towards your club yet because he's blue you let it slide, there was a man from the states that wanted to plough millions into your club but got severe abuse, wrong call imo.

28 Aug 2016 14:45:21
Whyte claimed to be a Rangers man as well.

I think for me it is more the fact that regardless of how much money King has spent or promised to spend, he came in and steadied the ship.

We used to be an open door circus with news stories everyday about the financial state of our club and he has quietened that side of things.

The guy from America looked like a good choice but we will never know, I think King has done a good job.

He could inject more cash as promised, I would be happy with a new defender and the bills being paid to be honest.

28 Aug 2016 15:11:30
What do you mean wrong call? Do you seriously think Rangers fans had a say- at that time- on who was coming in? It was a set up from the start. Would we be better off with zero control, and paying Ashley vast sums of money for promotion/ success in cups etc?

28 Aug 2016 15:34:38
I think what dk has done is correct bhoywonder, it's not investment if you don't get it back, rangers need to live within their means and that is what he is doing, where he has went wrong is in his rhetoric, why shout about 30 million war chest or second not being good enough. Why not be honest and say it's going to be a long slow and at times painful process that maybe is going to take 3-5 years and during that time there is a process in place to buy the very best youngsters you can afford and take 2-3 seasons to gel them together and in that time ANYTHING you win is a bonus. You know at the beginning I thought Warburton was a decent coach but I'm beginning to thing now he is just a blow hard, who has made a mess of rangers limited transfer budget this season and they would have been better with a good young coach, who can develop youth and foster a strong team spirit.

28 Aug 2016 15:39:57
He's brought in a class manager, won promotion 1st time out, strengthened our squad 500%, sold out season tickets, got us to a Cup Final, employed a decent scout, repaid £5m loan to Ashley, reduced debt and he's been here 18 months or so.
These 10 players take signing on fees and wages, we have also improved terms with a handful of squad and have spent in excess of £2m on player fees/ tribunal costs etc. We also brought in about 6/ 8 last season as well.
Our squad will qualify for Europe and improve again in next 2 Windows and with a bit of luck we might get proper cash from retail deal, onwards and upwards 🔴⚪️🔵.

28 Aug 2016 15:47:48
He withdrew when he saw all the yanks go home etc banners at your games cullin so yeah you did have a choice.

28 Aug 2016 16:38:19
bhoywonder you are barking up the wrong tree.

28 Aug 2016 17:45:24
everyone has an opinion Fd bud, that's mine, just wondered if anyone agreed with me.

28 Aug 2016 19:01:57
Rafbob. You need to hope king can do something similar to what mccann did for us, but that then needs the fans to also dig deep as we had to do.

Hope your service is going well, I did mine in the late 70s through to 91, some great saturday afternoons in pigs bar in bruggen listening to world services covering old firm matches, some good banter on my last tour at leuchars in the mess during 87 to 91.

90 minutes of serious banter, never a punch thrown, fowl mouth language that would offend your mother, but on monday earlies back to the usual manure.

28 Aug 2016 18:15:18
Well said the glasgow ranger.

28 Aug 2016 18:21:17
Theglasgowranger

Do you really think Warburton is a first class manager? What has he done so far to justify that?

28 Aug 2016 18:32:52
#theglasgowranger.

Serious question. What happens if you don't qualify for the group stages of any 2017/ 18 european tournament.

28 Aug 2016 19:33:53
Bhoywonder DK and the rest have ploughed in millions TBF anyone with have a brain knows it.

28 Aug 2016 19:46:28
Have to agree with iamnoboyscout I wouldn't be confident about getting through the Europa league qualifying rounds. We would be unseeded and even though it isn't the champions league there are plenty of good teams in the draw. When was the last time a Scottish team got through the qualifiers?

28 Aug 2016 21:09:30
35 million spent getting to the SPL Yet more loan after loan is required to keep the lights on.

29 Aug 2016 07:00:53
cheers for the replies lads.

28 Aug 2016 15:13:50
Bhoywonder, why is it such a big issue with others how much DK spends or not? As Rafbob rightly says, he's steadied the ship and is trying to get the one-sided merchandise deal with Ashley's mob cancelled. Imagine how the Celtic support would feel if circa 97 percent of all monies paid by them didn't go back into the club? Ashley et al have in effect hindered any chance of further floatation of the Company's shares which, bearing in mind we're back in the top league, denies further external investment.

Celtic fans will clamour for marquee signings now that CL qualification had been assured but, given the changes that will come into effect in the next year or so, do you honestly want your club to sign players for millions then pay exorbitant wages when future CL participation is far from guaranteed? Presently we're stuck with limited soft investment from major shareholders and time will tell how far we're behind or need to invest.

28 Aug 2016 16:18:46
Bhoywonder you are spot on. We are in a far worse position than prior to the King takeover. The only problem the previous regime had was they were too afraid to sack mccoist in time to salvage promotion to spfl at the first time of asking. Sorry there was another reason - they weren't real rangers men.

28 Aug 2016 13:51:33
Has anyone else heard anything regarding on the rangers and puma situation? As everyone knows the multitude of stories doing the rounds that we've supposed to have ended our partnership with puma a week past on thursday there, stories also doing the rounds that an announcement on this would be made in the very near future, has anyone anymore info on this and have you heard anything regarding this ed?

28 Aug 2016 14:05:22
This is by far the stupidest thing we have done as a club since administration. Puma will wipe the floor with us in court.

Every rangers fan wants the commercial side sorted, this isn't how to do it.

28 Aug 2016 14:21:52
the club would not have done it if it wasn't a good option. your not a lawyer you haven't seen the contracts so how can you even say that?

28 Aug 2016 15:05:36
Just wait and see. I'm sure time will prove me right.

With a contract such as this you either negotiate an exit or pay an exit fee. Otherwise you are in breach of contract and wide open to litigation- by ripping up the contract we have opened the door to just that.

I don't need to see the contract to know that we haven't taken up an exit clause. All the statements from both sides make no mention of such a clause.

Believe what I say or not, up to you- makes no difference to me. time will prove me right.

28 Aug 2016 15:10:10
Unfortunately the world we live in the people with the most money win regardless whether you are right or not, there is lawyers employed by big companies that are paid big bucks to bend rules and exploit loopholes I think taking puma to court is a huge mistake by DK.

28 Aug 2016 15:19:34
Exactly cee, exactly mate, does mr nice not think the good businessmen on the rangers board wouldn't have sought advice to cover every scenario, give them some credit mr nice!

28 Aug 2016 15:50:20
Warburtonthefifteenth - They may have taken advice but Puma will obviously have access to better and more accurate advice from lawyers specialising in the field.

I'm guessing this will drag on and on and eventually we'll be even more out of pocket. Strikes me as a huge gamble from King and co and a bit of a desperate one.

28 Aug 2016 18:42:48
Nor being anti advocates, but any lawyer will fight a case if they see an area for argument, even if they expect to lose the legal process, so long as their client believes in the cause and has the funds to cover costs.

Rangers big problem could be the costs incurred in a loss. Pumas briefs will be not be cheap, and rangers can seriously expect to be awarded costs against if they lose.

28 Aug 2016 18:24:02
Naz

How can you say that? Do you honestly believe that only Puma are able to contact specialist lawyers? As is the case when anything goes to court it tends not to be as straightforward as people think and could go either way.

28 Aug 2016 20:59:26
Maybe I'm being stupid here, but this isn't Pumas 1st contract with a team, so I'm sure the contract is pretty water tight or watch every team that has puma just walk away from deal.

29 Aug 2016 08:39:11
justa thought is puma contract with the club or Rangers retail which now has no directors from club. If we lost in court and contract was with retail then let Ashley pay or liquidate retail.

28 Aug 2016 16:10:39
mr nice the first thing is puma do not have permission to use club crest so in effect they are breaking copy right rules nor o they have any contract with rangers football clud its with rangers retail via sports direct the crest etc were all returned when the loan was repaid if sports direct or puma had a case against the club they would have queueing up at high court to issue writs against the club.

28 Aug 2016 12:50:51
The way the senderos deal is dragging makes me think we could be looking at loan options for centre half.

28 Aug 2016 13:08:18
Told you weeks ago there will b no more signings lads as you have no money, all smoke and mirrors by DK, wheres the dosh he promised would be my first question.

28 Aug 2016 13:25:21
Bhoywonder

If you told us weeks ago there was no money then how did we sign Garner for £1.5m last week?

28 Aug 2016 13:33:53
What's your second question?

Hate to agree, DK has not honoured any of his promises to invest. Not opinion, fact.

Directors loans are not investments, spending season ticket money is not investment. That's all he has done.

28 Aug 2016 13:38:35
as far as i'm aware biff you ain't shelled out any dosh for garner yet, or if you have its half now half next season, can't believe posters on here thinking the lescott official story, or that senderos is an option, i might be wrong but don't think youll see anybody coming in without getting rid of someone for dosh.

28 Aug 2016 13:41:19
Biffo it's 1.5m paid in 3 installments yi cheapskates. Use not paid it upfront. Get a grip use don't have cash to splash. HH.

28 Aug 2016 13:45:52
you want a 2nd question Nice ok mate, why has DK come out and put pressure on MW by saying that below 2nd is a failure, then not giving him funds to get to that target?

28 Aug 2016 14:02:23
Good question- probably to deflect blame and attention away from himself.

Warburton must be unhappy, think he's just not the type to make it public.
He is a smart guy, he will know the team is lacking- but spending what little money there is on a workhorse forward is baffling.

28 Aug 2016 14:10:59
Sometimes deals take time yous should know that with the Scott Sinclair deal, wether it's Senderos or somebody else I am confident that we will sign a centre half.

28 Aug 2016 16:44:36
Sparky1888

What's your actual point? Bhoywonder said Rangers had no money all I did was point out that this statement was incorrect as we paid for Garner. Now it doesn't matter if it wasn't up front or in 2 or 3 instalments. We still paid money which means his statement about having none is wrong. Surely that's not too hard to understand?

29 Aug 2016 07:03:37
my point biff is you haven't paid any cash yet, accrington had to take it to the press to get the 200k from DK, you say we paid for garner, i'm saying you got a player in but no fee has been given yet.

28 Aug 2016 17:32:42
This whole £30 million warchest gives me a right laugh. Never once has DK said he would spend 30 mil on players. He said the club needed about 30 mil investment which includes sorting ibrox, signing players, signing on fees etc. Anyone who thinks other wise needs to give their head a wobble.

28 Aug 2016 12:43:04
First of all may I say, we all love Rangers, that's y were on here, and yes we all see things differently but it's going to take time for this squad to get up to speed, that's the danger of bringing in 12 players, I expect rangers to be right in gear by Christmas but by that time it might be too late, I would just ask my fellow fans to stick by them, we will come good, it's just going to take a while before it happens, I would love to win the league this season, but if we Finnish 2nd i won't be to disheartened, but that's for one season only, as it might take us this season to adjust to being back in the premiership.

28 Aug 2016 12:58:13
How many of your new players have been playing tho mate, the fact is that youve been used to playing in a substandard league and its going to take time to get used to this league, i find it laughable that people on this forum are saying that 3rd would b a failure, warburton is useless etc, actually said on this forum a few weeks back that the support will turn on him in dec, didn't expect it to b after 4 games.

28 Aug 2016 13:07:25
spot on bhoy wonder.

28 Aug 2016 13:23:57
Exactly bhoywonder you seem to be the only one for your page who talks any sense over here.

28 Aug 2016 13:39:46
id be more worried about the fans on this page with delusional ideas lads.

28 Aug 2016 13:46:37
I'm frustrated with MW and have been for most of his reign. However anyone calling for his head is barking mad.

Major mistakes have been made with recruitment over the summer with the key weaknesses still unaddressed and players brought in that don't fit the usual Warburton philosophy.

Is this really all the failure of MW or is it due to lack of money and having to take what they can rather than what we want or need.

Much of the recruitment echoes mccoists strategy of getting experienced pros without looking at the big picture. For example it's already obvious rossiter and Barton can't play together, did we really need both?

At the moment Warburton looks a little lost and unsure what is wrong or how to fix it. I really worry for him and how fans Will react if we loose heavily at Celtic and Aberdeen- which unless we improve significantly will happen.

He needs to be given time to prove he can adapt and step up, however if he continues to refuse bro adapt his tactics he is setting himself up to fail.

28 Aug 2016 14:23:37
celtic supporter coming on here telling us what's what because his team have had all the luck in the world and won a few games don't make me laugh, celtics had all the luck and we've had none that's the only difference between the two teams I'm guessing there lucks going to run out on the 10th september, mark my words we'll get something at the san giro and push on from there, when you take everything into consideration- bad ref decisions, players out injured, players trying to gel etc were unbeaten this season come on bears.

28 Aug 2016 14:32:31
the idiot on the phone in who said he should be replaced with billy f'n Davies needs his head checked.

28 Aug 2016 14:43:34
GDawg 😂😂😄😂😂, youve had no luck, you played the 3 teams that are relegation favourites, we've played 2nd and 3rd place last yr plus a spirited st johnstone side, ill come on here on the tenth and if you beat us i will congratulate you, will you do the same pal, can't see it maself cause you seem to be blaming everybody but the man who is to blame imo DK.

28 Aug 2016 12:38:23
any news on dodoo? hope its not a bad injury would like to see him start against celtic strong and quick exactly what we need, on another point bears i ask you this how many times over the years have we gone into an old-firm game playing well and we've not got the result we wanted? would rather go into these games with all the pressure on celtic no one is going to give us a hope its def going to suit us better to have the pressure on them and also for them to attack us allow us to get in behind more PMA bears def think we'll get something from the game.

28 Aug 2016 12:32:44
Love tav to bits, but can't help think he is leaving us exposed at the back when going forward, before i get slated re-watch the game back from friday and watch how many times he doesn't get back and how kiernan get drawn over to the right hand side to cover him leaving a massive gap between him and hill also happens on the other side with wallace, also why on earth is moh not pkaying on the wing, kenny millar had a night mare after going over there when garner came on.

28 Aug 2016 12:06:15
Got a question for everyone who do you think MW will play in the back four once we sign another CB?

Don't be too surprised if its still Wilson and Kiernan I honestly expect them to be our starting centre backs going forward regardless of who we sign just on how Warburton talks about Kiernan and how he sets out his team.

For me if you want to be defensively solid it has to be:

Hodson Kiernan Wilson Wallace

(you obviously miss everything Tav brings offensively to the table)

The Wilson Kiernan partnership for me didn't look weak in the games that mattered when we defend as a team and how we now set up our team allows us to actually defend. Our centre backs haven't been exposed the way the were last season although Wilson and Kiernan have only started a match together that I can remember.

28 Aug 2016 12:52:23
Personally I still think the goalie has a bit to do with it he should be moving them all around and organising. Tav ain't vocal enough and just isn't contributing to this. I would have
Hodson Wilson New CD Waldo
I'd also have Gilks as our golie.

28 Aug 2016 11:46:55
It pains me to say this but that other mobb will be gunning for us and we ain't playing well at all a just hope warburton realises that we need to be mentally psychically and psychologically minded to know we can deliver a performance Ano there's along way to go in the league but if they beat us and win there game in hand we are 7 points behind already a don't think like
Any other rangers fan will be happy way that we need to go for the game

Gk Gilks
Lb hodson
CB Wallace
CB sendoros
RB tavernier
CDM Rossiter
CM Halliday
CM Holt
RW McKay
LW O'Halloron
ST Miller/ Waghorn

Subs Foderingham Barton Krancjar Garner Wilson Windass

What do you think fellow bears Barton and rossiter can't play at the same time to similar.

28 Aug 2016 12:00:39
Why would Wallace be any better at centre back when he has never shown the capacity to do so. Would be like playing Tav in there a complete disaster. How Haliday makes your team is beyond me he's provided nothing this season and is by far our poorest midfield player. Fod has had nothing to do all season so dropping him to the bench for a player you've probably seen twice against terrible teams is senseless. Forrester, our best player with tav, no where to be seen such an unrealistic lineup with no cover at fullback containing players we haven't signed.

28 Aug 2016 12:27:02
My team against celtic would be
Foderingham
Tavernier, senderos, wilson, wallace,
Barton/ rossiter
Holt, forrester
Miller, garner, mckay
What do we think guys?

28 Aug 2016 12:56:01
Wallace played at CB before in the SPFL for us and looked good there, pretty sure he played a bit for Hearts in that position. The point people are making is he will be better than Keirnan or Hill and we have adequate cover for him in Hodson, whereas at CB we have nothing. I fear for us against them unless Wilson is fit and has a new partner in bedside him who is also fit and raring to go.
Keirnan looked shaky last year, this year he is a bomb scare.

28 Aug 2016 13:03:25
Why would we b gunning for you? Think youll find were above you with a game in hand so think its you gunning for us, fans on this site need a reality check, signed umpteen players from lower leagues with no money yet if you don't win the league or come 2nd its a failure? I honestly think that if you get top 6 with current squad would b an achievement.

28 Aug 2016 13:12:45
I did not know that thanks for the info recbob.

28 Aug 2016 11:40:34
Firstly I understand how poor our defence is and how badly we need a CB but our attack is hardly scoring a barrow load of goals or creating that much chances I personally think there are problems all over the park not only in the defence.

28 Aug 2016 11:10:45
For me we just need time the expectations for this part of the season are a little extreme considering we have only played five proper games (preseason was a joke), some blaming warbs for not changing anything without offering any real solution. Half our midfield is injured and we have just got Garner in the door and there will be another centre back to come in to partner Wilson so to me there's nothing to worry about. Celtic will drop points as will we and they haven't been particularly impressive defensively either so the hyperbole surrounding our defence is hilarious at times. Think how many proper competitive games Celtic have got in over the past few weeks and preseason and the little changes they have made they were always going to start faster than we were.

28 Aug 2016 10:55:13
The defence needs sorted asap

The difference between this defence and a good quality player at the back is hardly marginal, your talking a chance to win the league or maybe second place

This current team will be lucky to get top 3, anything else is UNACCEPTABLE as we need to be at least in the Europa league playing quality opposition and also to attract overseas players! It's as simple as that!

Is there no a chance to bring back big Cellar or something?

28 Aug 2016 11:16:22
If our attack was playing how they should we wouldn't have dropped any points and for me its the midfield that's making all the mistakes. We have conceded three goals this season and two were a direct result and solely responsible to a midfield player I can't see why people are over exaggerating this the hysteria is unbelievable I'm yet to see anyone come on and criticise Barton or Krancjar for there part in two of our three goals yet all I see is the defence this the defence that. We defend as a team and the majority of the time we are exposed due to poor midfield play. This isn't last season I don't see why people are carrying this opinion over like we are playing the same, we aren't. Most of the time this season we have played an inverted diamond in midfield with two sitters as well as only throwing one fullback forward and as a result we haven't looked as exposed at all. Kiernan hasn't done particularly much wrong and I point to the stats released about him the other week he barely puts a foot wrong and everyone knows how much I like Wilson so the defensive frailty is just hyperbolised to the extreme. We will sign another centre back and we will be fine there its the midfield currently with our injuries we have looked by far the poorest.

28 Aug 2016 11:34:33
Most teams lose a goal or so a game and we will be no different, I understand it's the nature of how we are losing them but my main concern is our lack of goals. No cutting edge and at half way stage last year it was "someone will get a hiding soon with chances we create" that never happened and still don't look like it will soon. Our passing through the phases it too slow and predictable. More pace n energy needed ASAP. Barton slows us down going fwd.

28 Aug 2016 10:40:09
What hung EPL last night the majority of the teams are very quick and penetrate at speed from midfield. I hate to say it but Celtic do the same whether that's through Rogers prem league experience I don't know. With the midfield lining up as we have in recent weeks with Barton and Rossister this won't give us the speed and running that's desired. The only game we remotely looked like a team doing this was against Peterhead. If memory is correct no Barton or McKay . we played forester MOH and Dodoo. MW needs the balls to drop some of these non performing players and throw in hungry players.

28 Aug 2016 11:18:35
We are missing Holt and Windass who will provide this its just unfortunate that they have both been injured all season.

28 Aug 2016 11:41:21
Most people can see the need for quick players especially up front. People who can move the ball quickly and can turn defence into attack very quickly. Teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd and Bayern Munich do this. Rodgers isn't doing anything new he is just trying to replicate what these teams do. Don't know why Warburton isn't doing it.

28 Aug 2016 10:00:23
Was just looking at league table, we are 2nd to Celtic, who are expected to win the league at a canter! to put this into perspective, we are 2nd and let's face it we have been very poor in our first 4 games so let's wait and see when all of our squad are fit, think we will be ok, European place well within us.

28 Aug 2016 11:19:20
Wanting to win the league is obviously different to expecting it. I don't expect it but believe we have a good shot at it if we're set up properly. We aren't going to if going into matches with Miller at 9 and Kiernan at 5 (old reference nos) is the manager's choice. The fans see it clear as daylight.

28 Aug 2016 11:35:48
We haven't played a decent team yet! Our defence is getting caught through the middle, there is lots of talk but no action on a quality centre back and we just don't look fit! We need to start performing 100% better in every position starting on September 10th or we will struggle to qualify for a European spot!

28 Aug 2016 11:45:05
Totally agree Tom, hopefuly by the Celtic game and beyond we have our full squad available, fit and performing the way we want them too.

28 Aug 2016 21:04:24
I think miller is getting a lot of unfair criticism tbh. we'd be staring at 4 draws if it wasnt for him. he keeps coming deep to get the ball because we've no midfield runners. the only thing he's guilty of is trying to hard which can't b said for a lot of the players.

28 Aug 2016 10:52:13
Yes and Aberdeen have been mince and Hearts not much better, we should be confident of a Euro place anyway.

28 Aug 2016 08:06:59
Just thinking, I would love to have Darren McGregor back from Hibs, I thought he was brilliant for Rangers and showed great leadership. Hoping he will be back soon.

28 Aug 2016 08:40:52
It doesn't matter what he was he couldn't pass the ball five yards so he'd never fit in.

28 Aug 2016 08:57:27
Considering what was brought in to replace McGregor then I would have to agree. Kiernan and Hill are poorer defenders than him and he wouldn't have let Boyd run by him to score.

28 Aug 2016 10:47:28
He's a right back so tav is the replacement and I know who I'd rather have.

28 Aug 2016 11:03:40
Mw doesn't want defenders he wants footballers and he can't pass the ball so he would probably make a million mistakes in our type of play especially in big games where our back four are pressured. Doesn't matter how good a defender he is if he can't pass MW isn't interested and neither should we. In Warbs we trust.

28 Aug 2016 11:38:23
While I agree that MW wants football playing centre backs neither Kiernan or Hill is the answer.

There has to be plenty of players that fit the requirements that are playing in Europe or further afield and are under the age of 35!

Time for Warburton to press King for funds for a quality defender!

28 Aug 2016 21:09:31
Kiernan, wilson and barton can't pass anyway so that puts that theory that MW wants passers to bed.

28 Aug 2016 07:01:32
Agree thorn 76 as long as if warburton learns to have a plan b we could make 2nd or 3rd but hopefully when all these players come back others might fight more to be in team lol.

28 Aug 2016 10:46:27
Plan B is to do Plan A better?

Did MW say this or was it another of my RFC inspired nightmares?

28 Aug 2016 00:28:57
Do we have a chance of keeping Mark Warburton if we manage to win the league?

Winning the league at this moment seems galaxy's away but say we're within touching distance come the end of the season.

We manage to scrape it because of their European distraction and so fourth. Warburton may want a crack at the Champions League, is that enough to keep him at the club?

Would honestly rather build for the next few years, than see the most promising manager we've had vanish because of one good season in the top flight.

28 Aug 2016 08:36:38
Let's hope it gets promising soon, very mediocre so far.

28 Aug 2016 08:39:34
Thorn 76, what planet are you on, rangers winning the league. With what. Your players are manure. Its a pity the old firm match wasn't this past weekend, it seems cruel to pile on the pain, as we wait on the boys inflicting serious torture on your defence.

We are top of the league, we staying there, and with the money from the champions league our future looks a blight shade of green and white.

Hope you enjoy your european encounters with the mighty Linfield.

28 Aug 2016 08:53:40
Thorn76

We won't win the league we will be doing well to finish 2nd the team is unbalanced, defence is poor, midfield laboured and we haven't got enough pace going forward. Rather than worry about keeping Warburton you should be worried about how he has no alternative plans when things aren't going well. It's early days in the league however can't help thinking Kenny Shiels may have been right about Warburton being found out. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see anything other than a very comfortable league win for Celtic.

28 Aug 2016 08:59:20
Thorn76

Can you let me know what Warburton has done that you give him such high praise?

28 Aug 2016 09:48:35
Aye you are a blight right enough. And I thought some of our guys were arrogant. The problem with your lot is they think they are better than they actually are. Beaten by the Hillman Imps, then scraped through against the giants of Romania and Israel. Can't wait to see you humiliated in the CL by teams with genuine quality in their ranks. The noisy rabble at Porkheid is not going to save you this time. Buck says they can make the last 16? I think he has been smoking something.

28 Aug 2016 09:53:29
Calm yourself iamnoboyscout! You'll get embarrassed in Europe, you were extremely lucky to get past Astana and Hapoel over two legs! Yes we're playing poorly but if you think you're going to stroll it with a team built around a lego munching neanderthal you're going to get a few surprises!

28 Aug 2016 11:04:47
Its been three league games what has he done Biffo for you not to hold him in high regards?

28 Aug 2016 12:50:27
We may not yet be a strong european or world class team, but we are on the up, and money in the bank to continue the building of a good squad.

Now cone on, how many of you were shouting a few weeks ago that the bhoys were being disrespectful in playing a friendly rather than p t, and that it would come back to haunt us, as the rangers would likely be going into the old firm match ahead of us. Hasn't happened, and I don't see your current set up causing us any problems, now or in the forcible future.

28 Aug 2016 10:06:27
Unfortunatly i think celtic will beat us convincingly. i also think prob finish 4th and also thought it very strange why brentford got rid there manager when he just won promotion. mw done great job for us but no plan b. no varaition in formation.1 style of football that doesn't always work. in every job u need varaition but mw can't see it. how many times do managers change formation in a game. they change it if they see its not working. i don't perdonally think mw will get job in bpl. championship maybe or abroad.

27 Aug 2016 23:31:20
Am I the only one in thinking that some of our fans on heres criticism of our captain lee wallace is way over the top, just because he's currently going through a wee lull and drop in form which happens to every player throughout the season doesn't mean he's suddenly a bad left wingback! Lee Wallace is imo the best left back in scottish football and apart from andy robertson would be the scotland left back, on his game waldo is a better left back than both tierney and shinnie and that's not a biased comment from me because its what I believe.

28 Aug 2016 07:14:44
Totally agree W15. It's so frustrating that so many of our players are off form right now and that typical football fans are being so fical about the team. I think the signings made are good signings and MW I a great manager but 10 new players means it was always going to take time. Win our next game and suddenly we are right in the mix again.

28 Aug 2016 09:55:07
But we are not playing the 10 new players at once. There was only 4 on Friday night. We just don't seem to be playing the fast passing football that had celtic chasing shadows in the semi final. To many big punts up the pitch especially from hill and barton. We seem to be changing are playing style to suit the likes of barton and kranjcar. I never thought we would win the league this season. 2nd place was more realistic.

28 Aug 2016 11:09:41
Think of captains of the past, when was the last time you saw Wallace grab the game by the scruff of the neck or a player for that matter Gough, Butcher, Amoruso would be shouting at the underperformers all game!

28 Aug 2016 11:38:00
Barton and hill should be doing that as well.
