28 Dec 2018 21:20:57
lafferty should imo start on the left and tavernie right mid with Flanagan right back -no brainer.

28 Dec 2018 20:33:35
Sick of reading about how we need this creative midfield player that’s going to magically turn everything around. How much do you think this type of player costs? More than we can afford. We are in the position, like it or not, where we have to do the best we can within our budget and getting the likes of Arfield and Goldson is the top level of player we can afford. The lack of realism amongst our support is seriously apparent.

28 Dec 2018 22:50:34
We can afford Steve Davis. And IF we can get a fit Dorrans that would help. Ryan Kent also has to come back.

29 Dec 2018 10:11:18
agreed gallant few, but we have to many numbers in midfield not good enough, some wheeling and dealing recquired, davis is a must for me.

29 Dec 2018 20:22:03
How do you know what we can afford?

28 Dec 2018 17:54:32
What do you think the managers tactics will be tomorrow? Do you think he'll finally learn that the way to beat them is press them and don't give them time on the ball like Hibs and Hearts at the start of the season, Or, will he go back to the sit off, defend and try and hit on the counter like in Sept. If its the 2nd option, I fear what could happen.

28 Dec 2018 18:40:26
I personally think we will do what we always do and sit back and try hit on the counter they will eventually break us down if we play that way we need try something different.

28 Dec 2018 18:44:49
If he plays one up front then we will lose
A home game and one up front for christ sake.
A game we must win
The only way to beat them is attack
Not counter attack
So if tomorrow we have one up front then forget it.
Bet the only time we will get 2 up front is when we go 2_-0 down.

28 Dec 2018 19:38:03
Ye agree if we sit back be another 5-1 go out and don't give them time on a ball don’t let them build from back . the 2 games I’ve seen them lost Hibs and hearts that’s what they done just a shame we’ve not got a fit back 4.

28 Dec 2018 19:49:28
For gods sake sir struth, our manager steven gerrard has only managed once against them. The way your talking he's been our manager several times against them! Give stevie G a break for gods sake and back him and the team tomorrow!

28 Dec 2018 19:52:46
Rabrfc, we played with lafferty and morelos at celtic park and that still didn't work! If we go full open altogether, we'll get done, as whether we like it or not, they currently have better players than us! Trust stevie G, to set up the best way, that gives us the best chance of getting a result tomorrow! let's go!

28 Dec 2018 20:20:35
Whoever plays on the right better be on their game tomorrow. With Tierney and Sinclair going at them, they need to stand tall. I expect it will be Tav and Candeias. I actually think Tav is terrified of coming up against Tierney. The thing is, the wee roaster is nowhere as good as what they think he is. If Tav can find a pair of balls, goes in hard on him, he might just get the better of him.
If Tav wants to be taken seriously as our captain this is the game to prove me, and many others, wrong.

28 Dec 2018 20:59:46
I think we should take positives from the Hibs v Celtic game, they gave pressure right from the start, were first to the ball and played as a team. Celtic are there for the taking, we're at home and the help of our supporters we can get 3 points.

28 Dec 2018 21:38:37
'If' we were to be beaten I would rather have watched rangers attacking and losing than defending and losing. I think with 2 upfront we are far far more dangerous in attack. Morelos could easily drop off the front line when they have the ball and harass there midfield leaving laff upfront.

28 Dec 2018 23:05:29
SG wants us to come out the blocks 100% at Ibrox. So on the back of that I expect us to do just that. Celtic will be waiting for it and will be organized to soak up initial pressure then ready for some clinical breaks. If we manage to do that for 25 mins and get at least 2 goals we have a chance but this could go the other way and we may be behind after 25 mins by 1. After that we soak the then building pressure up till half time and then go for it again second half getting a goal however Celtic will probably get another 2. My heart says 2-1, My brain says 1-3.

WARNING, LIGHT HEARTED - This is probably BS but what do you think on the theory, If Celtic win, they will cutback on January Investment due to the points gap. Champions league money no longer guaranteed so there is a risk on not getting a return the money, Brendon will throw a tantrum and leave in the summer with hopefully a few of his players to Spurs (Pocket in your chinos to Man Utd) But if we lose then does it give SG and the board a reason to increase our efforts to strengthen as we need to at all cost get at least second, third again would be embarrassing. If you use my theory win or lose we come out on top in some weird way. So on the back of the most important lose for Rangers we end up with a great squad v a rudderless skeleton celtic come summer.

28 Dec 2018 23:16:50
Can't sit back your only inviting pressure.

28 Dec 2018 17:52:12
Anyone think mcrorie could be dropped back to center half tomorrow with Goldson and McCauley struggling and Katic seemingly out of favour!?

28 Dec 2018 19:15:31
If goldson and McCauley don't make it worrall and katic will be the pairing.

28 Dec 2018 19:29:39
Could see him maybe deploy wallace if struggling for CB's after comment about wallace having role to play.

28 Dec 2018 17:01:47
Big game tmrw bears, is it worth trying something outside the box that maybe they're not prepared for . Ie Flannagan rb, Tav 1 in front with Candeias in front of him.

A 433 of Mgregor, Flannagan, Katic, Mcauley, Wallace, tavernier, Arfield, Middleton, Candeias, Morelos, Lafferrty

Thoughts?

28 Dec 2018 18:19:58
If that's the team expect the biggest old firm win from either team on record. so much wrong with that team its laughable and if gerrard went with that he should be sacked instantly for gross misconduct.

28 Dec 2018 18:40:57
Rab mate can you direct me to the last positive post you made? Talk about a mood hoover.

28 Dec 2018 21:03:17
I would play Flannigan RB and Wallace at left back. I know Wallace is short of match practice but if we
Play Halliday Forrest will run by him at will.

28 Dec 2018 16:30:15
Alright Bears.
Any updates on Arfield, Macauley, Kent, Goldson injuries for tomorrow?

28 Dec 2018 16:22:42
Kieran Dowell signs for Sheffield United on loan.

28 Dec 2018 15:43:18
Looks like we have lost out on a transfer target with Kieran Dowell set to sign with Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the season. Could have been the perfect player to play the role that Ejaria couldnt.

28 Dec 2018 15:30:52
hi
I honestly think that if rangers lose tomorrow we will sell our number 2 and 9 and use the cash to build for next season to try and stop celtic getting ten.

28 Dec 2018 15:51:11
Graham nearly worth losing to get rid of Tav, I assume u mean Morelos re no 9.

28 Dec 2018 16:44:25
If a decent offer came in for Tav, i'd take it. can't remember a worst left back for Rangers. don't think Morelos will be sold in this transfer window.

28 Dec 2018 18:55:00
Left Back Tav is a RB.

28 Dec 2018 21:22:45
wait a minute, so sell a player to buy a player, not often that works where you get one better for the one sold. ok so you could get two for what our no 9 goes for but would you get a striker that potentially will net 40 times a season and if not then how do we beat them next year.

29 Dec 2018 01:28:06
We couldn’t really sign a worse right back as far as Tav is concerned so any new player could only be an improvement and if we sadly sold Morelos for a pretty penny then surely a punt on Shankland for a snip PLUS signing another proven striker to challenge Lafferty would be the option?

28 Dec 2018 14:47:08
Kieran Dowell away on loan to sheff utd.

28 Dec 2018 11:44:23
Guys, be realistic if you are one of the people call for SG to be sacked. Take a deep breathe and ask your self the following questions if you got your way and he was sacked:
1 Who would replace him
2 Who would want to join a club that sacked the manager after 1/2 a season
3 Could you get as high a profile player or manager to replace him (unlikely)
4 What message would we be sending out?
5 Who would see us an investment give we have a history of instability
6 Given the time frame and budget Who would realistically would have done a better job
7 should we not be trying our best to support a young manager learning his trade who has a profile that will carry our club a long way
8 what is best for the club long term plans and stability or constant chop and change
9 if we sign 3 good players in the Jan window and kick on would you be happy with that?
10 if we beat Celtic this week we are will in the race is that not what we were all desperate for
11 do you want a man in charge that conduct himself with a bit of class and dignity or will we go back to dogs barking at caravans
12 should we not all get 100% on board and support the new team and new manager
13 by all means criticise buy shouting for the manager to go is way off what we need just now
14.

28 Dec 2018 11:58:06
No real fan would want Gerrard sacked that would be crazy right now.

28 Dec 2018 12:05:47
Great post mate massive amount of sense in it 👍👍.

28 Dec 2018 12:44:08
One thing W K. Rangers are not a toy for young managers to cut their teeth on making obvious mistakes along the way, so when we lose to Livingston and drop points to a team rooted firmly at the bottom of the league that only had 10 men are we to sit back and put it down to inexperience? Gerrard has not won a single big game yet, not one, if you're happy with that then fine but surely you can understand why questions are being asked.

28 Dec 2018 12:50:43
Good post mate
Far too much panic due to a bad December
It’s clear we just need 2-3 creative players with a bit more class than we have at the moment.
If we had this from the start of the season we could have been well ahead at the top.

28 Dec 2018 13:03:48
Well said Jyf. Glasgow Rangers are not a toy. For some reason many on here are prepared to accept mediocrity. It's a disgrace.

28 Dec 2018 13:27:53
I haven’t really seen many supporters call for his head and I do agree he needs time. He has been let down by some players and would expect to see a bit of movement both ways in January.

28 Dec 2018 13:28:41
Honestly, do you guys think SG see's us as some 'TOY' to cut his teeth on, give the guy some credit for christ sake. He IS a rookie, learning on the job. This was never going to be an instant fix, we just don't have the financial clout, even if we had, there's no guarantee in football, that money means success.
A bit of patience is required, hopefully some additions to the squad that can enhance what we already have. It takes time. No one is accepting 'mediocrity' What we need to accept is, its a project that may take 2-3 seasons to achieve. If you can't get your head round that, then that's a shame,

28 Dec 2018 13:35:49
Steve G is eventually going to be a super Manager but we need to get behind him, cause he didn, t inherited a great squad. DOF of football and the Board need to provide him with better players, but as we know they cost money. Watched Rangers for over 50 years and I am hurting like everybody else so unfortunately we need to be patient with our young Manager.

28 Dec 2018 13:52:08
We wasted time and money on Warburton and Caixhina so give Stevie a break.

28 Dec 2018 14:34:33
I think most supporters have had a moan but it’s not ever come into my mind to wanting Stevie g sacked he’s a rookie manager learning in sure he will be a winner in time just got to give him time even if tomoz result doesn’t go with us injuries not helped us see what January brings us sure there will be coming and goings.

28 Dec 2018 14:42:10
I do agree that he should be given a bit more time but also feel he gets away with a bit more because of who he is which isn't right things need to improve big time.

28 Dec 2018 14:58:38
Calling for SG head is utter rubbish. He has a team in transition and has improved it immensely spending 7m. Its clear to see improvements need to be made but he is at mercy of board in that regard. I have to be honest and say not positive against settled Tic side but we still have side to snatch win. This was something we couldn't say last season.

28 Dec 2018 16:36:20
Jyf would you part with Gerrard right now? I don't think we should accept mediocrity either but I really think it would be detrimental to our club should Gerrard be removed at this stage. we need stability and time and a wee bit patience right now. I do think we are moving in the right direction as a club. bearing on mind I really don't think any one manager could come in and put us back where we belong in six months with seven million to spend.

28 Dec 2018 17:41:30
Steven Gerrard has to have the full backing of both the fans and the board, I believe we can win things under his leadership but he needs better help from the board and scouting department. We have signed too many players that are not offering anything to us! We have 2 players that would get in celtics team and we will never win a league with that! Grezda has been a huge disappointment as has lafferty, coulibaly has went off the boil and katic is now fourth choice! We replaced windass with grezda and it hasn’t improved us! Although I agree in windass not being up to the standard we needed either! Need 4 or 5 quality additions in jan to mount any sort of challenge or pull away from the rest and build for next year, but we need to spend decent money to get what we need! Time to dig deep to back him.

28 Dec 2018 18:12:14
Slipster, did we lose to livingston and the rest because we don't have the financial clout? Gerrard made tav the captain for some strange reason and has signed some very poor players and does not play the same side twice, he's experimenting with us, a good manager would quickly decide on his best side and more or less stick with the skeleton of that side adding players here and there. Tomorrow is a huge day for us and even if we get nothing out of it we must compete unlike the last time we met. If we dont, then, for me, the experiment is over.

28 Dec 2018 22:51:59
Cracking post exactly the message that needs to be put out to all fans right now.

28 Dec 2018 23:10:12
A man after my own heart W.K. Spot on with you analysis and am confident the majority of fans support your views.

28 Dec 2018 23:04:22
I have no idea if ace. tic fans slate their team at every opportunity when things are not great (like this season) but at times I am embarrassed to be assocywith some of our sunshine supporters both on here and other forums and at matches when the boo boys are out in force.

We say we are better than them but we have a large number of people who attaches themselves to our club but shame us, the players, manager and club history.

A reality check urgently required - when it comes to the modern game, our history does not buy us success.

28 Dec 2018 23:21:49
Anybody asking for Stevie to be Sacked need to do one and go and glory hunt with a team like Man. City who have money coming out of their ears.
A Rangers fan is not just for the good times winning every week, a Rangers Fan is a lifelong commitment a way of life it's in the Blood.
Backing your Team when they need us, and Guys and Girls they need us Tomorrow so make sure you have your singing gear ready let's show everyone watching what it means to be A Ranger.

28 Dec 2018 11:41:59
Think people need to get a grip on here saying this about the manager and this about the team. we are 3 points behind them plus they have a game in hand is it not maybe that the league is stronger this year, that's why we have dropped so many points and so have Celtic. time for a reality check some people have short memories the league has been the tightest it's been for a while as everyone is capable of taking points of each other just support the team instead of waiting to criticise at every opportunity.

28 Dec 2018 12:19:14
So, a 10 man Dundee team are stronger? Take your head out of your backside. Reality check? On what? Why we can't beat Aberdeen? Why, when we are winning, we make it so hard on ourselves? Why we find it so hard to put away our chances?
The only reality check is the sqaud just isn't good enough. Too many players not up to the job. And remember this is the SPL. So just how bad are players like Candeias who can't even cut it here?

28 Dec 2018 15:39:01
Slk73, your right we should have beaten the sheep and Dundee. We didn't and are still sitting 2nd, 3 points off 1st. The reality check is we're a work in progress. We've had a bad December. Do we need better players? Yes. Do we need more from the players we have? Yes. But try to keep things in perspective.

28 Dec 2018 17:00:07
Perspective? Ha! So, expecting us to beat the bottom team in the league, playing with only 10 men for 70 minutes, is expecting too much? Wow! Do people really think before posting so much mince?
Yes, we are a work in progress, but If you think our results are acceptable, then the game is a bogey. Do some sums. Add together the money we have spent and the wages we pay and do the same for every team we have lost points to. How's that for perspective?

28 Dec 2018 23:26:28
Slk73 my head is out my backside I think your needing a reality check can’t win every game we aren’t world beaters so if we should be beating every team like your saying so Celtic should be the same as well as they are a better team than us so why have they dropped so many points this year and if you want to go with results let’s look at the EPL should Man City have lost two games in a row to lowly teams or palace who are usually bottom end of the table so I think your needing to take your head out your backside.

28 Dec 2018 11:50:24
My big worry for tomorrow is if our first choice cb pairing are out and God forbid they go a couple up i'm not sure there's that many in our team would cope with almost 50,000 on their backs
And please if we need to use subs give them at least 20 mins this 5 and 10 mins is useless
We're due one soon hope it's Saturday 🇬🇧🇬🇧.

28 Dec 2018 10:43:42
buzzing for tommorow bears but i'm also really worried that big goldson doesn't make it i think our best pairing a centre back is mcauley and goldson and both could be out our luck with injurys this season is incredible, also hope arfield is back as i do think we miss him when not in the team, the puddle drinkers are not a great team hibs showed that if you press them and get in there faces they fall apart c'mon bears high press tommorow.

28 Dec 2018 11:00:11
Dont know where puddle drinkers comes from but that truly is pathetic and childish banter.

As for goldson, yet another poor error that was putting him out for the 2nd half on wed all but guaranteing he misses the game on Saturday.

28 Dec 2018 11:47:02
Rabc is not a happy chappie.

28 Dec 2018 11:53:44
oh deary me robert are you ok pal sorry that has offended you what time are you going to the bingo.

28 Dec 2018 13:30:25
Queens 11

What’s wrong with bingo?

28 Dec 2018 16:50:45
lol arthur its full of dabbers.

28 Dec 2018 10:10:07
No doubt about it guys we are definitely off form for tomorrow and it is a real worry although on the other hand surely we are due a good performance soon with someone getting a good gubbing? Hopefully tomorrow as we are all due a right good day out🤭🇬🇧.

28 Dec 2018 10:34:30
Can't see it being tomorrow when "someone gets a good gubbing", too many players off form, can't create, struggle to take chances, too predictable in how we play, too many injuries. I'll take a point right now.

28 Dec 2018 11:05:29
Keep the faith, law of averages, tic can’t win every game? Rangers have just came out of an horrific experience as a club, it’s bound to take time too get everything back to a semblance of the way it used too be, we ( the fans ) do play our part by buying into what is happening now. We’ll be back and the rest will be laughing at the other side of their faces, I’m fed up with Celtic guys I know laughing at our club, but you know what is said? He who laughs last laughs loudest.

28 Dec 2018 09:29:58
Come on Bears, now is the time to stop the griping and negativity and get behind the team tomorrow. We are long overdue a league win against the unwashed and I think we can do it. I really hope SG plays Morelos and Lafferty as the lanky dreep does like scoring against them. A high-pressing game is essential, we mustn't sit back and let them dictate. We need Jack, McCrorie and Arfield in the middle. My XI would be:

McGregor; Flanagan, Goldson, Katic, Halliday; Tavernier, Jack, McCrorie, Arfield; Morelos, Lafferty

I know SG won't push Tav forward but that is my wish team and I think Halliday for his fight and spirit.

28 Dec 2018 09:44:52
Doiger-- Arfield and Goldson are doubtful for tomorrows game.

28 Dec 2018 11:19:09
nothing to lose in flanagan put in hi natural position, tav ahead of him, team needs refreshing tacticaly,

28 Dec 2018 11:51:23
Doiger, I don't have the expertise to suggest team players or tactics I would just like us to score goals that have been lacking just now.

28 Dec 2018 00:00:35
What s happening with Lee Wallace our only left back, but SG still rotates J F and A H ? Tims best player is Forrest to me it's a no brainier? Mc Gregor Tav Golbson Mc Cauley Wallace Candious Jack Mc Crory Artfield Lafferty Morelus press press press.
