Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

29 Aug 2016 20:56:55
I really hope we get 2 CB's in before the window closes and we follow it up with a win against Linfield and then another against Celtic. The team underperforming has turned this banter page into a non stop moaning page with everybody having pot shots at each other. It's beginning to resemble the finance page.
I still feel this team could turn this season around and beat that mob at their own patch if we can get at least 1 CB in and if our team gives itself the almighty shake it needs. The players need us as fans to drag them out of this hole they're in and cheer them back to the way we were playing when we knocked the stuffing out them in the semi last year. Don't let the Celtic fans kid you, they are only marginally better than what we faced last year, yes they have destroyed a few Scottish teams but they have also looked heavy suspect in games and have definitely ridden their luck. They thought they were going to maul us at Hampden that day as well and we know how that went.
Follow Follow.

29 Aug 2016 22:01:12
Don't care what cb if any come in. They can't defend when the 2 full backs are constantly out of position.

I really think mw needs to rethink his game plan as it's not working.

29 Aug 2016 22:16:56
Don't think there's any chance we will pull off 2 cbs mate am a bit worried we don't even get 1 but like yourself am a bit annoyed with all the moaning I honestly believe once all players are back fit we will get going and getting the points on the board.

29 Aug 2016 22:17:28
Crooks is a centre half I think so might only need one centre half.

30 Aug 2016 06:27:25
If you think this is bad I dread to think what it will be like if the unthinkable happens and we get pumped at Parkead.

30 Aug 2016 10:11:15
We will only sign one Max but I agree with what you've said mostly although I genuinely feel Celtic are worse at the back that us. Based on evidence so far.

30 Aug 2016 18:06:29
Then you are genuinely off your head Ross lolol.

29 Aug 2016 21:51:27
Can't blame us for being angry and negative. Should have sorted the defence out a long time ago. Warburton continues to praise senderos yet hasn't brought him in and then there's players like barton who's only here for a holiday and to entertain the press for his new book.

29 Aug 2016 18:42:32
A poor start to the season, especially form wise, and the dhims winning by 5 each week! The script is set for a rout at Parkhead! We've been written off already which will play into our hands, we certainly perform better as underdogs and as somebody pointed out before, I think we have some big game players. Most definitely more than they have! I've got a feeling a few of the lads will play a blinder (not Clint)! Keep the faith!

29 Aug 2016 19:14:45
It is really up to the manager to get the right team and the right players. Barton has it all to prove, Halliday relishes these games, just so long as Hill is no where near the team!

29 Aug 2016 20:00:17
Thing is we won't win the league this year anyway, we need to be realistic about our expectations for this season.

29 Aug 2016 20:26:37
It's doubtful for sure! Suggesting we will struggle for top four is ridiculous however! We have been gash so far but haven't looked like losing and we have better players than Hearts, Aberdeen etc. They will try and kick us off the park and may well succeed but they are inferior football teams and we can't forget that! Hearts lost to a Maltese team for christs sake, Aberdeen got battered by Celtic and Celtic are no world beaters!

29 Aug 2016 21:20:13
Your ryt mate we won't win league this year, 2017 we'll win it lol. let's be positive people, if we go out and beat that mob all the people that wer negative will start praising the team again, n then the next slip up, the team will get slaughtered, only a few games in man, give it some more time and see how we are, let's get behind this team and be very positive, hopefully MW has a wee cheeky transfer up his sleeve before the window closes aswell.

29 Aug 2016 19:34:42
As a Celtic fan imho the 10th will just be another standard league game that we should win, not sure about a hammering but it should be straight forward.

a portion of The Rangers fans will turn on king and warburton if it is a thumping or a one sided game and as entertaining for Celtic fans as this will be it will be unfair and unjust. Rangers are not in a position to spend as we all know, so 90% of the team are realistically not good enough for Rangers first team. Tavernier, Waghorn, Barton if you beleive the nonsense he spouts maybe, but the rest no way, forrester, wallace, holt, haliday, hill, kiernan, wilson foderingham etc.

Rangers fans should use the 10th as a way of measuring who is good enough for your sqaud and who isn't and if yous do get beat, then so be it at least you will know the challenge in front of you.

29 Aug 2016 20:56:05
miller aside, who is your big game players?

your big game players didn't show up for the cup final, did they?

30 Aug 2016 07:32:48
kaney1983, yours didn't turn up for the semi final, shhhhh!

30 Aug 2016 09:29:12
I'd say Barton, Wilson, Kiernan, Tav, Niko, are big game players! Maybe Rossiter and Windass will come good too. Let's not forget Celtic won't try and sit in against us so it will be a different game!

29 Aug 2016 19:22:22
I hope your right pal. I will be watching the game in Vegas at 4am and if the result goes against us then it's going to be one hell of a long day and a really long lonely walk back to the hotel from the Rangers supporters club.

29 Aug 2016 19:48:17
Considering the money Rogers got it's hardly surprising their fav for the league.
Although I think it will be 2 fired up teams and we might just upset Celtic's applecart in 2 weeks.

29 Aug 2016 20:02:43
I'm dreading this game to be honest but on the other hand if we turn up and start well we could do them form is nothing but there pace bothers me and they have just got a pacy rb in gamboa we have slowed games down that much that it might work in our advantage.

29 Aug 2016 21:53:23
If we start halliday we're guaranteed effort and fight unlike joey barton.

29 Aug 2016 18:28:53
Is the game v linfield on RTV this weekend?

29 Aug 2016 18:00:49
Jordan Thompson scores a volley.
Cue all the ridiculous he should be recalled and placed in first team posts!

29 Aug 2016 18:14:45
Should play him up front. Would score 100 goals a season no probs. Especially if crooks was in team.

29 Aug 2016 19:11:55
I fully expect Crooks to win both Ballon d'Or and Sports Personality of the Year. What a player/ guy!

29 Aug 2016 22:32:17
Chuckle brothers amusing lol.

29 Aug 2016 22:37:41
No need to get wide about Crooks - let him do his talking on the park - then the doubters amongst you can make your witty comments or agree that the boy can play -.

29 Aug 2016 17:54:58
If we end up signing Phillipe Senderos and Sol Bamba to partner Clint Hill in defence then we'd all might aswell pull our pants down and bend over.

29 Aug 2016 19:16:08
Why on earth would they partner Hill! Who ever we sign will surely not have the misfortune of seeing Hill anywhere near the team!

29 Aug 2016 21:52:39
Id take bamba or senders now. I don't want to slate hill but he looks done. He was an odd signing in the first place and the worst part is his wages could have bumped up a deal for mariappa or someone better.

30 Aug 2016 08:35:53
We are slating Hill and rightly so but you have to remember who the he'll signed him; MW. why? What has MOH done, Doodo, injured but still looks lightweight. Miller Miller struggle to play all games this season, Barton should keep his tongue out of his cheek and start doing what he is paid to do and that is win games.

Young MacKay is a good wee player but has gone off the boil and has yet to perform to his best. Tavs is the only one of perform consistently delivering even then not so much defensively. Let's get real here fellow Bears we will struggle to finish second, with the squad we have and DK and the Board need to get that warchest out now, if there is one, which I doubt.

29 Aug 2016 17:49:46
So wots the excuses going to be when we pump use lot on the 10th lol. Cana wait for them.

29 Aug 2016 18:17:55
there will be no excuses from us other than excuses for us taking it easy on you lot or you lot coming out and trying to say you were not trying as you were focusing on champions league game.

29 Aug 2016 18:49:13
Sparky1888,don't be too cocky before the result my friend, remember we played use absolutely off the park in our scottish cup semi back in april when all we heard from you lot leading up to the game was how many goals you were going to win by, I've been going to old firm games for nearly 40 years now and in my experience you never take nothing for granted, you're the home team and the favourites rightly so but that doesn't mean we've no chance! Do you lot never learn? What gives the famous glasgow rangers a fighting chance is that you're defence is also not very good, what will be will be and bring it on! Again you're lot are expected to win but watch for that possible goose egg all over your face!

29 Aug 2016 19:03:39
and what will the rangers fans excuse be if Celtic do hammer them?

i see a lot of The Rangers fans spouting about winning, spouting about how rangers have improved and Celtic haven't. yet i see very little from Celtic fans mentioning a hammering.

and you know why this is? its because we as Celtic fans just see it as another league game at home (which should be a routine victory) . the 10th should be a straight forward SPL league game, win lose draw doesn't really make a huge difference at this stage, and seen as The Rangers have been poor for the last 5 months (barring the best played draw ever in the SC semi, lol) 12 days is not going change that, there will be no massive turnaround, The Rangers will drop more points than Celtic over the course of the next 33 games, hence the reason have us as heavy favourites to win the league.

by the way can i ask how many games crooks and windass have played for yous, because going on what i have read you would think yous have cannavaro and batistuta on the sidelines.

29 Aug 2016 19:36:44
I think the current Celitc team is better than the one we faced in the semi final. Yes there defence is suspect however they are very good going forward in Scotland and can break with pace. I worry about our defence who couldn't handle Boyd let alone Griffiths, Sinclair and Forrest.

29 Aug 2016 20:07:07
celtic may beat us, you have a far superior budget, bigger squad and have invested heavily. but we heard all the same crap in April when we stuffed yous.

29 Aug 2016 20:13:28
Kanye 1983 - you say that the next old firm game should be routine yet Celtic struggled to beat Apoel beer shava and the goals that Celtic lost to Apoel and st Johnstone were shocking! So Celtic aren't perfect either!

29 Aug 2016 20:36:00
We're still to find out form but we're still better than the imps so we have a chance.

29 Aug 2016 20:58:33
Just a other league game eh? How much are you lot punting tickets for this "straight forward league game"?!

Absolute roaster of a man!

Celtic SHOULD win, Celtic SHOULD have won the Scottish Cup semi final. pressure is on the reigning champions.

29 Aug 2016 20:07:41
you say that as if Kris boyd isn't the top spl goalscorer, ever.

29 Aug 2016 21:49:30
I seem to remember the semi final was a draw, and Rangers won on penalties.
How many games have Rangers won since that, and to compare the 2 is just rediculous, Celtic have got rid of their 1 plan manager, Rangers haven't.
Recbob, how do you know your better than the imps, or beer sheeva?

29 Aug 2016 21:27:58
The excuse i will use is how on earth did celtic manage to fill their stadium.

29 Aug 2016 20:25:38
a 2-2 draw and losing on pens is hardly a stuffing. rangers played better admittadley but i could argue Celtic had the more clear cut chances.

at the end of the day its a different team, different style, different manager. and also what about the 2-0 game at hampden when mccoist was in charge, celtic never got out of second gear.

celtic have spent approx 4 mill on players and sold approx 3 mill of players, also the wages going on the incoming manager and players is mostly subsidised by the free'd up wages from the many players who have left.

has The Rangers not spent approx 2.250 mill on player? 1.8 garner, 250k dodoo, 250k rossiter and 250k on crooks and windass. not to mention wages for kranjaer barton ect, and also did warburton not recieve a big increase this season?

29 Aug 2016 21:47:00
lol, oh the venom, rangers are struggling, YES, Why, well according to your fans you have new players and they need time to gel, well celtic have new players, a new manager, a new system and they also need time to gel, but they have been geling whilst navigating our way to the champions league and have routinely beat hearts and aberdeen, and i said celtic fans are taking it as a routine league game, the club have set the prices for tickets as they know the rangers fans will pay it, its a business at the end of the day.

and THAT semi last year, well the game fin 2-2 and you won on pens. what happened after that game for the rangers? you stuttered over the fin line in your league and hibs beat you within 90 mins to win the cup. iv'e never seen a semi final win celebrated so much.

29 Aug 2016 21:53:49
"Jason brown" i did say the game against the rangers is a routine league game, which it is. if we lose i can deal with that, can you live with it if yous lose, or will the knives be out for warbuton and co?

Harpoel BS was not a league game, it was a play off over 2 legs for approx 30 million pounds. so the pressure, the environment and the atmosphere were on a different level to a standard league game which the 10th is.

if we lose on the 10th it won't cause much of a ripple as the PRESSURE as you put it is not as high as you think, remember we play BARCELONA 4 days later in Europes Biggest Club Competition so the 10th doesn't really measure up to that. Celtic will achieve more league points than rangers over the course of the season and that is all that matters.

29 Aug 2016 22:01:46
"j1985"

Roaster am i, well can i ask you, the 10th is a league game, Yes or No. that's as straight forward as it gets, its not a knock out play off that away goals matter is it?

no its a league game, the 5th league game for The Rangers and the 4th for Celtic.

so i am calling you a roaster for acting like it is something more. by the way the reason the tickets are £49 is because the rangers will pay it, it is a business at the end of the day.

a business that Celtic seem to be thriving in, unfortunatley the same can't be said for the Rangers.

29 Aug 2016 17:43:10
Foderingham

Tavernier Wilson Bamba Wallace

Crooks

McKay Rossiter Forrester

Garner Waghorn/ Windass.

29 Aug 2016 17:52:58
bamba?

29 Aug 2016 18:31:18
Crooks for Ballon d'or!

29 Aug 2016 19:35:46
are we playing 12 aside mate?

29 Aug 2016 19:41:14
Assume Bamba's old bird in Shawlands has not heard the news yet.

29 Aug 2016 21:09:13
Haha Fd I don't no who to choose out of the two upfront tough choice tbh.

29 Aug 2016 17:41:32
One of my first posts last season after the Burnley friendly was that we were too open and slow at the back, not strong enough in midfield and lightweight up front. I got slaughtered for that at the time. Despite the majority of us hoping that things would improve after year of MW and DW, I can't see much difference?
Premier opposition whether you like it or not is a big step up. Of the teams in the league Celtic Aberdeen and Hearts are to physical and strong at the moment. Inverness Ross C StJohnstone and Partick look very well organised and will love playing against our very obvious plan A. The rest are there to be shot at and we haven't done very well against them?
I will still be there shouting on the team. But none of this news!
DK time to step up I'm afraid.

29 Aug 2016 17:49:50
If anything our defence is worse this season with the arrival of Hill and the departure of young Gasperotto.

29 Aug 2016 17:59:40
There is no plan B bill. MW was being Hailed a hero and a master of management. Marland was a gem etc. A few weeks V SPL standard teams and it's glaring for all too see this squad isn't nowhere near good enough for a sessions challenge. Pacey forwards will have a feild day in behind the defence week in week out.

29 Aug 2016 18:20:11
I like Warburton but iv seen his fairly obvious flaws for quite a long time.

29 Aug 2016 18:32:26
So well organised they all lost 5 goals to the dhims? They are pub teams mate.

29 Aug 2016 20:38:57
4 lacklustre displays doesn't make MW a bad manager overnight. I'll reserve my judgement till the end of the season, nothing is won or lost at this point and we have only drawn 2 games.

29 Aug 2016 22:11:05
Its early season and so much can change. Wev not lost a game but obviously need to improve. lots of players have come in and it well take time to get our best 11. I think if we can get a solid cb and a few changes to first 11 well improve massively. Need more running through the middle

Fod
Tav, new cb, wilson, wallace
Waggy, holt, rossiter, windass, forester
Garner.

29 Aug 2016 17:36:16
Unsure what the problem is with signing Senderos. I understand that personal terms and paperwork can take some time but I'm unsure what the full procedure entails. Does any fellow bears know? And also why can all the details go through real quick on deadline day with players?

29 Aug 2016 17:43:10
Is Senderos still training with us?

29 Aug 2016 22:34:28
Waiting an Mariappa?

29 Aug 2016 17:35:47
There's a lot of panic on here nowadays, I never expected to much this year, as a matter of fact, I was hoping for a European place, imo this season will be all about getting a team on the park to hopefully put up a challenge next year, now before anyone moans that's not good enough, do fans not realise that not playing proper teams for 4 yrs will have a massive impact on us, this could be a very up and down season, all I would ask is to stick by the team and the gaffer, as i believe it will all come good, it's just going to take a while, r. t. i. d.

29 Aug 2016 17:53:33
Personally I was hoping that we would see some decent quality signings, in particular in central defence and in attack. I am not disappointed with the midfield and attacking players that we have brought in but I never thought for a second that we would end up with a weaker central defence than we had under McCoist!

The signing of Hill is beyond belief!

29 Aug 2016 18:27:08
Tom42

Your comments are spot on about the defence. To sign hill beggars belief. He has nothing to offer and we would have been better signing a young centre half.

29 Aug 2016 20:44:50
Got to agree with you's on that one, I thought Hill could have played a Weir role at the club but his legs seem to have gone.
I liked the fact he was in the papers today saying he knows he's been poor and needs to improve, at least he's not hiding. Once he finds his feet he may be handy later in the season if anyone picks up an injury but it would need to be a drastic improvement. I'd still have him over Kiernan though.
If we can get Wilson and Senderos (if he signs) fit all season I would say we will fine but that's a big if. Maybe the lad from Raith deserves a chance, he couldn't be any worse and looked a player against us.

29 Aug 2016 16:19:14
Think its about time we started coming up with songs for our new players, for me Rossiter in particular the guy's class and we should let him know it.

29 Aug 2016 17:38:55
Totally agree Ross, I'm sick to death of fans singing about the uvf and other sectarian songs, I can't stand all that stuff, it's got nothing to do with rangers in the 21st century.

29 Aug 2016 17:41:20
Well done for being positive Rossw and thinking about songs when we are all concerned about team performance but I I fully agree Rossiter is a terrific player and my favourite at minute.

29 Aug 2016 17:51:38
Hearing Waghorns on fire after he scored against Hamilton was amazing.

Will they play the Oh Joey Garner song at Ibrox when he scores. (To the tune of "can't take my eyes off of you) .

29 Aug 2016 15:38:57
A couple of years in the sun and heat of Athens or a year or 2 in the cold wet rubbish we get in the west of Scotland. I know he would be playing for our glorious rangers but he's off on holiday for 2 years. Well rid if that's his attitude.

29 Aug 2016 16:08:30
Should have payed him the money then.

29 Aug 2016 17:11:39
It was family reasons wasn't it, Glasgow a bit far? no wait failed medical .? no wait was it really down to money? any truth out there from our board etc. Farce . and the Sendros one getting as bad, sign him or tell truth and tell us he not coming .

29 Aug 2016 22:58:24
Personally I reckon we have been fortunate to miss out on this guy. We might have ended up with a more expensive flop than Hill!

29 Aug 2016 15:24:38
Team v celtic fc

Wes

Tav
New CB
Wilson
Wallace
Halliday
Holt
Crooks
Windass
McKay
Garner.

29 Aug 2016 16:10:46
Why would you drop our best player so far? Rossiter has been class, his performances have been better than anyone elses.

29 Aug 2016 16:12:30
Can't see how Haliday makes your bench never mind starting in front of the likes of Barton and Rossiter.

29 Aug 2016 17:13:12
Hallidays proved he can do it against them and looks a good bit quicker than Barton which will b needed as there a pacey team easy choice t chose him over Barton. rossiter for me has 1 decent game at dens park but where we r lacking is holt cummin late in to box getting on the end of things so holt for Rossiter for me.

29 Aug 2016 14:47:26
Just in case joleon lescott ever visits this page and needs some geography tips.

Greece is a lot further away from
Manchester than Glasgow. Ya pr*ck.

29 Aug 2016 15:17:28
also a much easier gig I think for him, or at least how he sees it.

29 Aug 2016 15:50:45
He failed the medical chap lol.

29 Aug 2016 15:55:57
No need to be bitter It's not him that calls the shots at the end of the day! It's proves that he did fail a medical and was in the best interests to say it was family reason so Villa can offload his big wages Wait you see he will play a dozen games and will become injured, having said that continental football is a little more relaxed so he myt be okay! I'm glad we let that one slip I don't fancy another Michael Ball!

29 Aug 2016 16:06:21
no real medicals in corrupt Greece, culture that explains economy….

29 Aug 2016 16:11:56
I wouldn't get upset wait till it pay day he be back home soon.

29 Aug 2016 14:45:25
I still say Warbs is reeling from missing out on Ball. His mind was made up that he would get him and it backfired on him big time
I think he was wrong to expect Ball and should have been more active looking elsewhere, now he is running out of time.

29 Aug 2016 16:06:49
Balls was poor man, not what we need.

29 Aug 2016 16:14:03
Wouldn't say Ball was poor and I wouldn't say that we wanted him either because if we did we would have signed him. If you listen to the gaffer he wants four centre backs in his squad and we currently have three, how would it look if Ball was the fourth player? We obviously didn't want him.

29 Aug 2016 13:16:54
I understand the hurt you are all going through and questioning the commitment of King but you do have the second biggest budget in Scotland and a training complex that is far superior to some of the SPL. You have the tools and the budget maybe time to look at the guy that makes the footballing decisions and ask him what's going wrong.

29 Aug 2016 13:45:03
I know because you lot have been so accomplished for so long now that we must take heed of your great teachings oh wise tim. Mind the Red Imps. we'll no much has changed since then. A very very short run of good results and you lot are world beaters again.

29 Aug 2016 14:32:52
Better training facilities than most in the UK an Europe and 110% better than the field your lot play on .

29 Aug 2016 14:34:55
It goes far beyond the last few games alrus, infact it goes far beyond the foundation of your club. It goes back to 1888. just take a wee second and let that sink in sir.

29 Aug 2016 14:52:29
Oh I know. I really forgot about the academia levels you lot possess in financial and litigation law. I bow down to your great teachings and await further insight. Keep on saying/ believing the same old cr*p. No matter how many times you say it, it doesn't make it any more concrete.

Answer me this, if what you proclaim is true then why do so many organisations including our own SFA and SPFL proclaim otherwise. One word answers on a postcard please. Any word apart from ones beginning with 'C' accepted.

29 Aug 2016 18:02:18
FEAR.

29 Aug 2016 15:31:19
By my arithmetic our foundation year 1872 comes before 1888, take a wee second to let that sink in.

29 Aug 2016 13:22:25
Quality over quantity? Is Joey Barton really worth the 20k a week he is on? And is he slowing down the pace of the team overall?

I've no doubt he will get a little better after a handful of games

Let me know what you think of attributes so far?

29 Aug 2016 13:28:23
Firstly nobody knows what he is being paid, 20k was just a figure people quoted. Based on last season i think he probably is worth it but hasn't showed it so far. Agree he does seem to slow it down but thays in part due to not having our box to box mids (holt and windass) playing yet.

Give him time.

29 Aug 2016 13:42:06
Tbh I do think his vision and picking out a pass long and short range is excellent but I reckon Holt is equally as good and much quicker with or without ball at feet What you think guys?

29 Aug 2016 13:54:37
We talk about three players in the middle of the park who could come in and do a more effective job than Barton.

Crooks - Could be a better option in holding midfield than both Rossiter and Barton.

Windass - Could be a much better option going forward than Rossiter and Barton.

Holt - Proved last season (although at championship level) that he will be much better going forward than Barton and Rossiter.

Would like to see that midfield when everyone is fit with Forrester coming in for Holt or Windass.

Waghorn/ Tavernier work well together.

Mckay/ Wallace have worked well together.

Hopefully Windass/ Crooks can work well together.

Good partnership on the right.

Good partnership on the left.

Possibly good partnership in the centre of the park.

Just need a good partnership at the back and we'll be sorted.

Joey Bartons attributes so far all talk and no action, I'm really surprised at the manager saying he took him off as things were beginning to boil over. I thought he took him off because he was playing terrible said it before on here badge kissers and mouthing off doesn't do it for me, Give me someone that try's for 90 min any day!

29 Aug 2016 14:23:46
Really wish people would stop with this Barton bashing, he's going to be a key player it's just been a slow start. And this is coming from someone who wouldn't have signed him in first place!

Where are you getting this 20k figure- I doubt he's even on half that.

How on earth can anyone say crooks and windass are a better option- crooks hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and windass is a completely different type of player. The same with Holt.

Rossiter is the only player who a fair comparison can be made. That's why I said I wouldn't have signed Barton in first place as rossiter is a much better long term option.

Time to stop blaming individuals- win as a team and lose as a team. As a team we need to do better.

29 Aug 2016 15:59:19
I have proof he son 20k a week If so, I don't he is showing his worth so far.

29 Aug 2016 16:06:57
bet joey Bartons glad he came here with supportive fans like you.

29 Aug 2016 16:08:09
yep agree mr nice.

29 Aug 2016 17:06:23
Drop him for the old firm game. At least halliday will give 110 per cent. Barton can't afford to be bullied by brown and lose the last of his dignity. Let halliday sort brown out AGAIN.

29 Aug 2016 12:33:28
There has been a lot of team suggestions for the upcoming old film game and a lot I agree and disagree with.

One thing I would take a punt on that not many have mentioned is MOH. I would maybe try him on the left this time, he has the legs over Lustig who is not the quickest and could be an ace up our sleeve for an out ball. He has his critics and it's a risk but could work. McKay as been pretty rotten lately but him or Forrester for me would be on the right this game as they would put a lot of work in to cover Teirney's runs.

I think Rossiter and Barton will start so depends on who is fit for the attacking berth. Hopefully it's Holt or Windass. Celtic will come flying at us like a bull out a gate so I hope we step up and make a good account of ourselves. Can't be any worse than what we have seen so far this season.

29 Aug 2016 13:01:51
I think that Warburton has made a major mistake in the transfer market this summer by not signing players with SPFL experience. None of the signings bar 1 have any experience in the league. We could have easily got both Hemmings and Stewart for the same price we got Garner. Both these players have top flight experience and have done well.

29 Aug 2016 13:15:04
wes
Tav kiernan Wilson wallace
Barton rossiter
halliday

mckay garner/ waghorn ohalloran

that's the team I would play, hopefully holt is back so that we have the option to bring him or kranjcar on to try and create more than what halliday will offer. I reckon that's the team bar Miller for ohalloran.

29 Aug 2016 13:23:42
mckay looks like the only player able to create anything.

29 Aug 2016 13:29:34
Itl be interesting, we are probably going to play counter attacking so moh might be the answer as an outlet.

29 Aug 2016 13:31:01
Yes Levenlad I agree, I would play him to back up a sole striker, probably Miller, with Garner on the bench. I would play Hodson at right back with Tavernier in right mid field, with Forrester in left mid field. Wallace would keep his place, but the central defence is a concern and central midfield would be decided in conjunction with central defence pairing. Ideally, we would have Senderos and Wilson and I would then play Rossiter and Holt, if fit [ Barton or Halliday, otherwise. ]
We must have Tavernier's flair going forward, while keeping the defence solid.

29 Aug 2016 13:45:55
M8 I think the midfield 3 of barton rossiter and halliday is ineffective they are 2 similar. I think the 3 should be windass rossiter and forrester, we need energy in the middle of the park for our high tempo game, I think so far this season that is what's wrong we have been very slow in the middle of the park.

29 Aug 2016 14:28:49
MW hasn't changed his tactics since he joined the club- aside from a 45minute go at a back 3 (which was swiftly abandoned and never repeated) .

Aside from that the closest he has came to changing tactics was playing ball as a holding midfielder.

So I think our approach at Celtic park will be the same 4-3-3 and we will try to dominate possession. Wether it will work is another matter.

29 Aug 2016 16:07:57
I don't think the midfield 3 is great either but I think that's what will play, halliday will cover every inch of grass and has proved he is more than a match for broony and the bandits.

29 Aug 2016 17:03:03
I agree with you cee halliday was more than a match for brown and he gives his all, I just feel we need the likes of windass, forrester or even holt in there to put teams on the back foot we have been predictable and slow so far allowing teams to get men behind the ball.

29 Aug 2016 12:26:51
I see Calum Chambers off to Middlesborough on loan! He would have been a good option.

29 Aug 2016 14:30:01
Silly move for him when Roma wanted him.

Middlesbrough or Rome? Tough, tough choice.

29 Aug 2016 16:08:29
does he speak Italian? would he get a game?

29 Aug 2016 10:21:21
Good times are coming. I bet that before end of season we will have a new investment strategy that will blow us all away. DK is looking at mega investors and will deliver. Just look at where we were 2 years ago, and now! Night n day.

29 Aug 2016 11:05:47
You have what evidence to support your theory.

Or have you got a set of crystal balls.

29 Aug 2016 11:52:10
Tbh, just what I see on the web and a gut feeling re DK. If you check out the media in South Africa and Asia DK is jetting around these places just now and he says " looking at various investment opportunities" maybe I'm an optimist but I recon its to do with the gers100%.

29 Aug 2016 12:38:54
What he say's is mostly correct if you think we are still to get back onto a stock market and start selling shares, all these potential people could be future shareholders and that's why I think there's logic behind what he said.

29 Aug 2016 13:01:00
At last, someone with a positive outlook of our future!

Too many dafties on here who think that the end of the world in nigh!

DK has a plan and will be working away in the background to find the best way forward for the club. Unfortunately there are still many legacy issues that cannot be washed away easily and certainly cannot be fixed in the public domain.

Watch this space - legacy issues will be sorted, retail will boom and we'll get a listing on stock market within the next year.

The team will do well 2nd or 3rd this season but will take some time to blend and rediscover last years form (it's a step up) .

I think we'll do ok against Celtic - could go either way by 1 goal - the team will be prepared and will step up a gear.

29 Aug 2016 12:58:08
Its a but early to be on the buckfast especially considering its not a bank holiday in scotland. Keep up the drinking, by tea time youll be having illusions of winning the champions league next season.

29 Aug 2016 14:32:22
I'll have a pint of whatever he's drinking.

29 Aug 2016 15:46:11
OP When do you think DK will deliver on the long promised Nomad?

Within the next few weeks, before the end of the year? Ever?

29 Aug 2016 12:12:25
We all hope that's the case but there is 2 days 10 hours and 55 mins till the transfer window closes we will now by then if we need to put our hopes in the loan market
Will a loan player walk straight into the first team I hope so but most players well all the best young talent have already moved on to new clubs
These two days are crucial to us if we are to challenge the other half will probably bring in 1 or 2 decent players so we need to bring in a defender and a creative midfielder I feel and get our players fit to have a chance.

29 Aug 2016 09:49:02
To be fair to the current team, we are unbeaten in the league so far and also we have never looked like losing, the two draws could have been won - however we haven't looked convincing either, especially going forward and our defence is prone to errors. I think we are 1/ 2 players short of where we need to be. We need a new CB and I think a creative player, preferably a winger, as we have very few players who can take the ball and run at opponents and create chances, too often our forward play becomes slow and easy to defend. However, if we only sign one player, it has to be a defender. I think the next few days will be a pretty good barometer of Warburton and King's aspirations for this season - we have signed in the region of 10 players so far, and with players such as Barton and Krancjar i think most fans would have been delighted. However, we still have shortcomings and are weak in key areas - we look top 6, but not challengers. If King and Warburton really do want to push Celtic, the next few days are vital. Otherwise, for me, their aspirations must only be to get used to the SPL to then hopefully push for the title next season. i'd be happy with a couple of loans, as long as they aren't just youngsters looking to develop as they need to be able to make a difference. We have no money, so not expecting much by way of transfer fees but we need to improve and also need to make a statement of intent. So here's hoping we use the next few days to improve the squad and show the rest of the league we mean business.

29 Aug 2016 10:03:51
I'm pretty sure that DK and MW have made their aspirations very clear - sharing opinions is one thing but this constant rubbishing of our board, manager and team is simply pathetic.
If there was a magic wand available I'm pretty sure they would have used it by now to bring in Pep!

29 Aug 2016 10:07:44
We haven't played a decent team yet, either in the league or the cup! We have dropped four points to teams that will end up bottom six and in the Kilmarnock game we were up against a mixture of youngster and so called Rangers rejects.
I would agree that the next few days will determine whether King really wants to challenge Celtic or whether he is just full of bull. It will be interesting.

Our central defence is a joke. Hill should never have been brought to the club and Kiernan is just not good enough. You are correct that the signings of Barton and Kranjcar would have been welcomed and although he is clearly not capable of lasting ninety minutes at present Kranjcer, when he has played, has shown some skill. Barton, on the other hand, has been nothing short of a waste of a jersey. All mouth and on the pitch he has been poor. He has a lot to do against Celtic to retain his credibility. We have too many midfield players, too many injured players and that for me questions the logic of our trip to the USA for a meaningless game and what looks now to have been a holiday camp! We have some tricky games coming up, we need reinforcements at centre back and we need players to prove that they warrant wearing a Rangers jersey. I doubt that we will get the quality we need online signings.

If I was King, with his reputed money and with all the talking he has done then I would go out and spend a significant sum on a quality centre back with proven leadership ability and I would give him the team captaincy. Wallace would remain Club Captain but we need a leader on the Park and that is something that Wallace is not.

If we do not get a result against them and that is followed by dropping points at Pittodrie then there is going to be a lot of angry bears!

29 Aug 2016 12:47:48
The post wasn't intended to rubbish the board or managers contribution, nor was it specifically hard on the team. King and Co deserve praise for getting us to where are and are making the right moves in terms of merchandising etc, whilst Warburton has proved to have been an excellent appointment. However, if they are serious about challenging Celtic this season, which both have claimed, then its self evident from our performances so far our team needs strengthened and we only have a few days left of the transfer window to do so.

29 Aug 2016 13:34:55
Did you own manager not say it was the worst performance by a rangers team since he became the manager, what's most relevant is that he said it in public, not just in the dressing room.

29 Aug 2016 09:40:56
No disrespect to Mark Warburton here but why is it that he has had issues defensively everywhere he has managed! I would've thought he would've addressed that by now, especially having Davie Weir by his side?!

29 Aug 2016 10:09:45
Perhaps we are giving Davie Weir too much respect as a coach! He was a brilliant player for us but I am seeing nothing defensively to suggest that our centre backs know what they are doing. There again, you can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse and I doubt if anyone could make Hill into a football player. Too old, too slow and too prone to giving away penalties.

29 Aug 2016 10:52:50
It's the way he plays. he plays an attacking game, you simply can't defend with the way he wants to play.

29 Aug 2016 14:36:13
Look at the comments made by some of the players at Brentford after he left- one player stated his belief that Warburton had cost them promotion to prem with his tactics, and criticised him for not practicing set pieces all season, not even once.

Sounds familiar.

29 Aug 2016 09:20:34
interesting stats for you all.

Per game we have 16.5 shots on average.

Our accuracy stands at just 30% (4.5 shots on target average)

Our shots to goals ratio is 10% (1.65 Goals scored from total shots)

Everyone can moan all they want about our defense, but those stats tell a much bigger problem we have. I could handle conceding a goal or two a game if we were putting away our chances.

29 Aug 2016 10:04:49
It will come - remember Waggy is out.

29 Aug 2016 10:11:03
That is something that can be improved upon on the training pitch and we have decent quality players that can improve with coaching. That does not work in defence when you have centre backs that couldn't kick their own backside!

29 Aug 2016 10:29:09
Only show I think these stats were in the DR yesterday and show us as the poorest finishers in the SPL so far. Yes our defence isn't so hot particularly but that was the case for a lot of last season too . This year though our midfield is much more slow and ponderous and your post shows our finishing needs to improve dramatically. Hopefully Waggy will be fit enough for the 10th. His finishing is a bit erratic at times too but he had 5 from 4 games before his injury and that's the kind of return we need. Much harder to play you score 2 we'll score 3 or 4 in the SPL particularly if we can't score the 3 or 4 also if we let them score first and we have to chase the game as we've had to 3 times out of 4.The stats also show as well as poor finishing that despite not playing well we're still creating more chances than anyone else (including the other mob) . So Kenny, Harry and the rest start taking at least some of them!

29 Aug 2016 08:15:50
Team against Celtic,

Foderingham

Tavenier
Kiernan
Hill
Wallace

Barton
Rossitier
Forrester

McKay
Miller
Garner.

29 Aug 2016 08:51:49
so the same pish as usual? Waghorn will be fit, Windass should be fit, holt should be fit, why not add a bit off tempo to our side? Waghorn and Windass should be added to the starting 11. drop miller, Drop Forrester.

29 Aug 2016 09:25:24
No Wilson when he's our best cb?

29 Aug 2016 10:15:14
Hill in the Team, Barton and Rossiter, Miller!, that would be a dream team for a Celtic supporter.

Hill should be nowhere near the team, Miller at best should be on the bench and Barton should be told in no uncertain terms that the Celtic game is make or break. Time for him to do his talking on the pitch or go train with the youth team.

29 Aug 2016 13:17:23
Jesus Christ Bartons been here 2 minutes and the full team has been rank rotten. may aswell send the full team to the under 21s going by your thinking.

29 Aug 2016 14:00:19
Cee, my issue is that the guy should have kept his mouth shut and done his talking on the pitch. He has set himself up to be shot down in flames if he doesn't boss the midfield against Celtic.

As for the team being rotten, I don't accept that. We have seen improvement in Fotheringham and Tavernier, (defensively), and he is still showing the way with his free kicks. Rossiter is a quality young player and when we have two proper centre backs, (not Kiernan and Hill), we will see Wallace playing better. Forrester has been good, both Windass and hopefully Crooks will make a significant difference when fully match fit as will Kranjcer.

We will hopefully see Garner add some much needed muscle to the attack and young Dodoo has potential.

I reckon we have the makings of a good team but we are still two or three players short. let's see what Barton does at the Piggery and let's hope that we have brought in at least one quality centre back!

29 Aug 2016 10:02:39
drop harry who was probably has been 1 of our best players at least he has a go at goal and take players on.

29 Aug 2016 04:04:45
Now before everyone one starts jumping down my throat I'm a rangers man through and through I want to start by saying there is now chance in hell that the gers will win the league this year and probably not for a few years unless the team gets an injection of about 20 - 30 million I'm just being realistic the unwashed have a well respected manager that known throughout Europe and come the Jan transfer window have the ability to spent up to 15million maybe more on players if they needed 2 they also have the carrot of possible champions league football each season Mark Warburton is in my opinion a great manager however he does not attract the same appeal around Europe as Brenda soap dodger the players that we are trying to sign and have signed are no better than average apart from maybe one or 2 and if we lose at the piggery we will be more or less 7 points behind that mob after 5 games so get real and please cut this current gers team some slack at present we are still undefeated and are still gelling as a team and when they do gel we could push for maybe second or third which I think would be brill considering where we where 2 seasons ago and the lack of real investment in the team. Wether we finish second or 10th I will continue to support my team through the good and the bad and that includes the players that are out there trying there hardest to get us victories and constantly get slated on this site.

29 Aug 2016 07:59:50
Trying their hardest to get us victories. That's a novel sentence so they are doing all for us and not because it's an extremely well paid job?

29 Aug 2016 08:50:42
Stewarty, some punctuation wouldn't go a miss, my head just about blew up trying to read that.

29 Aug 2016 09:28:48
We will finish second **** some people on here are too extreme the hysteria we were going to finish first and mow we have drew two games due to teams getting an early goal and injuries (waggy and dodoo) and we were forced to change our tactics we will be more than fine in this league no one has done anything special.

29 Aug 2016 14:02:55
We will struggle to finish second unless we bolster our central defence with at least one quality centre back and preferably two. Yes we have good quality players in midfield and in attack providing we gel but our central defenders are killing us!
