"Malky Mackay has revealed he is advising Billy Gilmour's family on the youngster's future - and suggested it'll be better if he remains in Glasgow. "

Maybe, just maybe, we can hold onto the boy and hopefully see him fulfill his potential at Ibrox.

All the ex-pro seem to be saying he should stay and develop. Hopefully the boy is listening.

Its a no brainer for me. If he stays he'll get to play against men very soon rather than being stuck in an academy playing with boys his own age for who knows how long.

Surely we should try and match Chelseas deal! I think Gilmour and his family would want to stay at Ibrox buy if we are offering say 3k a week compared to poss 10k then imo an offer of 7k could sway his decision to stay THIS tho depends on coaches at Ibrox and Pedro as to their thoughts on if the boy WILL kick on?

HINDSIGHT! Will Billy become a top talent? I think that if he stays and in 3-4yrs is even valued at 1m then we will not have lost out financially. He must be informed that by staying he will move up to first team and get his chance this with a financial package that resembles Down South would be ideal for everyone.

If he goes down South the chance of him disappearing and continually playing Academy football could seriously affect his development. Fingers crossed Bears but unfortunately money will be a huge factor in his and his family's decision so if we can show that we really want him to stay a deal close to Chelseas I think would prove to him and his family he is really wanted and first team football a serious possibility.

He is still very young AND physically don't think he's the biggest but to lose him and all that goes with it is a risk BUT King MUST listen to Coaches and take the gamble yeah? What do u think Bears?

Andy1872. 7k a week over 4 years is 1.456m. So if he's worth 1m we will have lost out by almost 500k. I hope he stays but I hope we don't pay over the odds for a possibilty he fulfills his potential. 10k is pocket change to the likes of Chelsea. 2-3k a week for would prob be more realistic. and that is still a fortune for an untested 16 year old.

31 Mar 2017 12:14:37
I think we should try our best to keep him as he'll almost certainly be worth a lot more than £500k in a couple of years. But trying to compete financially with the wages offer is not the way to go. He'd be picking up bigger wages than half our squad while he's still years away from being ready to play in the first team, that would be a dressing room nightmare!

31 mar 2017 16:00:01
we should offer quicker route into first team not offer more money for a lad.

29 Mar 2017 03:55:58
If gilmuir moves to Chelsea he can't sign a pro contact down south till he is 17 after that he will be paid between 1 thousand and 7 thousand per week. B4 that he is paid 127 per week till he is 17.

29 Mar 2017 11:46:22
Would like the boy gilmour to stick around for a while but can't blame him if he goes. Look what happened to big Kennedy at Celtic big career ahead of him then one bad tackle and it was over for him. that's why young players will usually grab the big money they might not get chance again.

29 Mar 2017 12:07:18
The pay can't be the reason for thw move let's be honest he'll be alongside world class players testing himself, i also reckon chelsea will throw in some add ons house for family etc but fair play to the wee man and good luck to him, remember if we get 500k that's a good chunk of cash for a young guy that has potential

29 Mar 2017 16:10:05
Did rooney not play for Everton when he was 16?

29 Mar 2017 16:19:29
And that's all he has right now; potential. take the dosh

29 Mar 2017 19:04:18
@Jaws - Kennedy got injured playing for Scotland national team. What's that got to do with anything. ?

29 Mar 2017 19:21:44
Can't compare him to Rooney lol he was built like a man and that's one area where has to develop and he will in next few years. It's merely potential at the min and being a stand out at his age is miles away from doing it at first team level. I hope he stays to at least 18 and is progressed properly and not rushed just for the sake of it!

29 Mar 2017 20:12:20
Who says he is leaving.

29 Mar 2017 20:14:18
How on earth will he be testing himself against world class players when he'll be in with the dozens of youth players, many of whom are already lost in the mammoth Chelsea system?

29 Mar 2017 20:45:59
@st monkey. He won't be near any world class players for a long time unless they are world class under 20s. I think he'll go but he'll get his chance playing men soon here on a better platform.

29 Mar 2017 20:47:11
@we are rangers. I think the moral of the story is you never know what's round the corner and should take the best deal available to you in what is a short career.

29 Mar 2017 21:14:34
I wasnt comparing his build mate. The point i was making was you can sign a pro contract at 16.

30 Mar 2017 02:58:11
Rooney made debut for Everton aged 16 in fa cup. I was only repeating what was said on radio clyde sport the phone in. They said he can't sign a pro contract till he is 17 and what the wage structure was.

{Ed001's Note - you are correct, it is 17. In Spain it is 18. It is something to do with child labour laws, I believe, but not entirely certain why it is 17.}

30 Mar 2017 14:43:41
people stating he might get an injury if he stays up here well what about going down south does that make him less likely to be injured i don't think so i'd say the best thing for him is to make it up here first as he will have plenty of time to move down there
