Just a question for the banter as a Rangers fan what is your favourite ever old firm?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Oh bertie, bertie, league cup semi, was at the game, crowd was brilliant, always enjoyed games at hampden when crowd is 50/50.

Agree0 Disagree3

I like john lewis or debenhams been trading since the 1800s great old firms

Agree4 Disagree3

My favourite ever old firm memory is when you went out of business.. shamrock. but if you want a game 6-2

Agree16 Disagree11

Ha....belter!

Agree7 Disagree10

My favourite celtic 2 gers 4 on my 21st birthday 14.09.1968 think it was a glasgow cup game on a friday night no bad a memory for an auld yin lol doug t.s.o

Agree3 Disagree5

Tam Forsyth.......les

Agree4 Disagree1

Oh Hampden in the sun , October '57 , still a record to this date.
It's a world record for the biggest deficit in a British cup final.

Agree6 Disagree3

Rangers 5 celtic 1 in the souness era think it was mcavennie scored first then we ran riot with ian andrews in goal for celtic. mcoist, walters, 30 yarder from wilkins, backward header from mccoist and i think walters again. brilliant memory.

Agree10 Disagree2

9) that was the last time we had a great team

Agree3 Disagree0

Ranger 3 - Celtic 2 . Peter Lovenkrands last minute winner in the scottish cup final 2002 at Hampden. Barry Ferguson scored a superb free kick to make it 2-2 before Lovenkrands getting on the end of Neil McCann's cross at the far post with a diving header to clinch the cup......atmosphere was brillant that day too.

Very hard thing to decide on. As Scotland's, and indeed the World's most successful club, great memories are everywhere for us.

We of course have more great memories to choose from in this instance, as we have a superior head to head record in Old Firm games over the years. Not surprising of course, but interesting nonetheless.

I am only 20, therefore my memory stretches back to around 1999. Taking this into consideration, I have chosen a top 5. I've also only chosen from games I was actually at, because it obviously makes the experience ten times more memorable than watching on TV. So feel free to debate!

5. Celtic 2-4 Rangers (2008-09)
Amazing day that highlighted our superiority and was the prime example of everything that makes Rangers greater than Celtic. More fight, more will to win, more style and more passion.

4. Rangers 3-0 Celtic (2007-08)
From start to finish we were brilliant. Barry Ferguson ran the show, Alan Hutton was immense and wee Nacho ran riot. 3-0 up and passing them off the park and Barry nutmegged Gary Caldwell at the end and laughed in his face. Class.

3. Celtic 1-1 Rangers (2009-10)
"Can you hear the Rangers sing?" was ringing around Celtic Park after McDonald put them in front. They could hear us in Australia a minute later when big Jig burst the net with a heeder. More or less won the league that day.

2. Rangers 2-1 Celtic (2010-11)
(League Cup Final)
Amazing day. We were basically written off after that lot had beat us 3-0 at Celtic Park in the February. We battered them and Steven Davis had one of his best games for the club. Weiss' vision and Jelavic's run and the anticipation as it hit one post then rolled in was amazing. The atmosphere was electric.

1. Rangers 1-0 Celtic (2009-10)
Mo Edu's day. The reaction to the goal, the atmosphere in the ground after the final whistle, everything that day was magical. I remember Kevin Thomson absolutely crunching Robbie Keane early and Keane crying to the ref and being told to man up. Then Thommo clattered him again and Keane was a passenger for the rest of the game. 100+ International caps, but he's a bottle merchant who couldn't cut it playing in an Old Firm game, just show's you how intense it is. This was an amazing day that won us the league title.

12 feel sorry for you son that your too young to know a good rangers team. that team you know was poor

Agree3 Disagree6

I've had a season ticket since 1998, so I've seen some good teams and good players at Rangers. I certainly don't need you or anyone else to "feel sorry" for me.

SC93

Agree9 Disagree4

14) not if you think the mcleish and smith 2nd time around teams are good you dont

Agree2 Disagree2

Agree with you SC93 im 21 have seen many great players play at Ibrox but the one man that stands out for me is Dado Prso absolute legend in my eyes! So @13 ur full of wind & p*sh De Boer Van Bronkhorst Klos Amoruso Numan Reina Arteta Ferguson even Novo was a great player for us wouldnt swap any of them for a Thomson Hartson Sutton or the Likes!

Agree4 Disagree3

6-2 at Parkhead was an awesome match. We firmly put the cheats in their place that day!

Agree5 Disagree9

I dont know about you lot but mine was big SAMARARSE penalty miss at the hands of McGregor - the bottlers bottled it and the gers went on to win the league yet again

Agree9 Disagree1

Haha "dado prso was class" can tell your young as well he would have got nowhere near the nine in a row team hes like a pound shop mark hateley. get a grip .

Agree3 Disagree5

Got tae be the 3 each game that shoulda been 4-3 tae the bears.laudrup , davie robertson n goram were outstandin that day ....right enough so was big hoidonk n wee andy thom n mcstay . still tae this day the best game av seen

Agree2 Disagree0

A would say one of the best was the rangers 3 Celtic 1 game when big albertz scored a screamer of a free kick from about 25 yards
Cbear

Agree5 Disagree1

The first and last the rest in between doesnt really matter

Agree2 Disagree2

David Cooper playing keepie up with the selics defenders. He took th rip.

Agree2 Disagree0

3-0 last ever old firm game last season. 4 henchmen of the apocalipse and singing toytown to the deady bears on they're way out. Never forget it till the day i die. Yasssss

Agree3 Disagree2

Personally I am with number eight. Wilkins volley was one of the best goals I have ever seen in person and we were awesome that day. So many great matches I could mention but that one is at the top for me in terms of quality entertainment.

In terms of pure grit and determination the cup game when we won 1-0 after going down to ten men when Robertson was sent off within the first few minutes. Only saw that one on the telly but it stands out for me too because we took an absolute hammering that night and still managed to dig out a win when we really should have lost it by 5 or 6.

Bringing it down a level. If I were to ask my dad what his favourite games/moments were it would probably have been either Gazza playing the flute or Roberts conducting the choir, then again he shares a similar mentality to Shamrock and 23 where the football is secondary to the 'banter' and he still wears his outdated blinkers to this day. Some people never change with the times and can't be helped.

Brian

You obviousley have seen the good teams and times like me brian these young kids are unlucky to have been brought up on the rubbish of the last 10 years.

I think Green is trying to suggest that the Elgin farce was just another way by a Scottish team of trying to extract money from the fans of Rangers (and indeed Celtic).

Elgin obviiously thought they could make a killing off this game although why anyone thought that this would work is beyond me.

The same kind of attitude that we saw from the SPL chairmen to be horrified when SFL didn't bow down and grant their wishes. These clubs were afraid to stand up to their own fans, but expected SFL clubs to bail them out, so they could still get tv money, when it looked as if they would walk. It's called Greed.

The same attitude as SPL clubs who charge us much more than fans of other clubs. It's called Greed.

a wee joke,
A wee Glasgow guy decides to go to New York to help them rebuild after Superstorm Sandy.

While he's working away, President Obama pays an official visit.

When he's talking to the cops, firemen and rescue worker's, when he hears the wee man's accent.

"Hey fella" says the President

Where are you from ?"

"Am fae Govan" says the wee man.

"Govan ? , what state's that in ? " asks Obama.

"Same f*ckin state as this place!"

"The straw that broke t`camels back" What is CG on about? The Elgin game being cancelled cost The Rangers no money, but lots of fans out yes, not right, yes. But why has CG put such a twist on it. Hardly a disaster. He does say some daft things.

Believable12 Unbelievable4

Who are you sharing a brain with mate. It did cost RFC. They could have made more of an issue regarding this but they have een very limited. Also a lot of fans lost out too.

Agree10 Disagree8

I think he is referring to the latest in a catalogue of ridiculous things that have happened over the last year within Scottish football.

Agree7 Disagree3

Have to agree with last post about CG's long line of ridiculous statements!

Agree2 Disagree2

Was it not due to be televised, so sky money gone for a month, could be critical if trying to not touch ST money and stay solvent, and not put any real money (at risk) in the pot.

Agree2 Disagree0

@4 Rangers get a pittance, if anything at all, from the SKY deal and won't receive money on a per game basis. Green seriously complained about it after being forced into signing the deal. The SFL's percentage received from the SPL in relation to the deal is divided equally between all of its member clubs irrelevant of how many games involve Rangers. The sums involved for the perceived income received for one game would hardly cover the weekly wage of a couple of players. It would therefore be unlikely that the TV money in question would be viewed as critical in terms of staying solvent, as you put it.

no way ibrox should be renamed especialy to the sports direct arena jog on its ibrox n it should stay that way. charles greens always said he would listen to what the fans have to say n a know the majority wont want it changed. n if were not in debt and get 20 plus million from the share issue then is there really any need i dnt think so tbh

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Would gladly see Ibrox renamed if it meant an additional few million a year income. Look at St James's, it is officially the sports direct arena but the fans still know it as St James's. The exact same would apply to Ibrox. It would be silly not to explore such avenues given the income it can generate.
J1985

Agree10 Disagree8

Of course there is a need. If someone is going to pay x amount of millions per season, to call stadium by another name, would be crazy to turn it down.Good enough for top premier league teams, why not us. Every avenue for bringing regular funds in should be follow followed. Should be more gigs held there to.

At the end of the day, it will still be Ibrox.

Agree14 Disagree3

Ibrox will always be Ibrox whatever someone wants to pay money to have their name put up. If Mike Ashley wants to swell the coffers with a few million a year so be it.
I'll always be going to see Rangers at Ibrox. PB

Agree6 Disagree3

Lol millions a season lol..... It's £50k forever, indefinitely. And CG will snatch it off the table. All Greens deals are for full amounts now, no interest in sustainability.

Agree4 Disagree5

Number 1. St James park s the correct name. It was called the sports direct arena but reverted back after a few months because of fan pressure.

Agree4 Disagree0

How could any businessman with a UK wide brand consider sponsorship of only one side of the Glasgow split? Commercial suicide and showing niaive business nous surely?

Agree3 Disagree5

To be honest I don't think a club of our standing and tradition should be getting involved with a company like Sports Direct. Does Ashley and his cockney mafia realise that Rangers as an institution are bigger than anything they have dealt with in their business life?

I am cynical about this whole ide why is this low-end, almost chav retail chain interested in the Rangers brand. I can only pray that the great name of Ibrox Stadium is never sullied by the name of a company that is probably more suited to the budget of Celtic fans. I have never been in one of their shops and have no intention of going near one. Buy strips and merchandise through the club. This is only the start of burying our identity, remember liquidation rules regarding branding etc.

What other "names" will be changed in the coming months my friends?

This is not good enough,by any stretch of imagination.

We are losing our identity and slowly destroying our club piece by piece. Sports Direct Arena my a**e!

Larky Bear.

Agree3 Disagree6

You are all wrong about St James' Park. It remained the sports direct arena until WONGA purchased the sponsorship to the stadium. They are the ones who renamed it back to St James' Park.
All you Fans saying Ibrox should not be renamed need to be open minded. This will generate much needed annual revenue and Ibrox will always be Ibrox anyway! In a time like this all income is welcome.
COISTY09 {Ed001's Note - it must be remembered that Mike Ashley did it deliberately, not to make money, but to make sure that the fans wouldn't care what the name changed to, so long as the name changed. Wonga were not wanted amongst Newcastle fans, so they got them onside by changing the name back. I can see a similar thing happening here. The fans will hate the name, so someone will come in and change it back and win the fans' hearts and minds like they did with Newcastle. It is win-win, the fans get Ibrox back as Ibrox and the advertisers get a host of good publicity, oh and the club gets a big wedge of money.}

Agree4 Disagree2

Exactly Ed
It will end up the same outcome
Coisty09

Agree2 Disagree0

The best we can hope for is mobile phone co Orange winning the rebranding rights ! Could u imagine the outcry within the mhedia !!

Agree0 Disagree2

St James's is st James's again no longer sports direct arena. 1.5 million is buttons 3rd division or not it is ibrox and rangers we are talking about not Arbroath or Dumbarton. Take your 1.5 million and add 5 million mor per year or get tae .

Ed, Im just worried that the finances aren't great and that the deferred Elgin game was a knock to cash flow. Green said himself it was the straw that broke the camels back and insisted SFL protect Rangers from any more of that.
Well my issue is that div3 pitches are dire and with the winter upon us cancelled games are the norm. Just hoping frozen turf doesn't push us into admin.

Believable11 Unbelievable17

Rangers don't get any money from Elgin it was an away game home team keeps the gate money

Agree11 Disagree2

This kind of post seems to pop up every now and agained. Mate if your worried away and sit in a dark room till we are back in the top league againn

Agree13 Disagree4

Unbelievable that somebody that posts stuff like this does not even know that we don't get paid for away games. Been like this for years, and yet some don't get it.

Agree12 Disagree4

Was there TV money involved?

Agree1 Disagree1

Perhaps Charlie agreed with the Elgin boss to sell more tickets? Don't they get sent to Ibrox to sell ?

Agree2 Disagree0

It would not surprise me to hear that we are living on a week to week basis hence cg's comments. Until there is transparency as to the state of the club's finances how do we know that a postponement of a game against Elgin isn't something akin to missing out on the champs league group stages under the previous regime?

Agree3 Disagree0

Just you worry about Lemmon paying his fines Timmy....I know I'm responding but if OP is a Gers fan then the Mhankie mob had their best start to a season in 50 years.....

Why are you not asking yourselves about where Charlie Green is, and what is he doing? Where is this share issue? Where is the prospectus?

Believable14 Unbelievable5

If there's one lie in the prospectus then it can be argued that its a fraud being rolled out. Deceiving investors with false information. He has to be very careful.

Agree12 Disagree3

Timmy - why are you so interested in our share issue? if its going to happen it will happen, if not then whats the big deal

CG cant win with some people on here, he announces a share issue and bang he is robbing millions from the fans,
the share issue is taking some time and boom he is lying and probably robbing millions from the fans,
FS get a grip, the fact is we dont need money from a share issue to keep us going right now.
