Only decent bit of viewing in our semi final was the SG interview! We could still be playing yet, and still not scored. Thought the controlled anger and brutally honest answers SG gave were spot on, if our forwards had hit the target like that we would have hummed them! Still think we desperately lack a killer pass, goal scoring midfielder and unless SG knows of a younger version of Steve Davis, he should just go get. Steve Davis.

29 Oct 2018 20:19:18
Definitely get Tav off the corner and crossing free kicks. If I was the centre halves I would be raging with his delivery over the last two games. Sometimes it's good to mix it up a bit with different personnel on set pieces. Nearly all of our midfielders are quite negative at going forward and are more suited to holding onto the ball and breaking up the play. Think Dorrans best days are behind him he seems to be made of glass now. I can't help but think that Greg Docherty would have what we are missing and surely he could have learned more off one of the best midfielders in the world.

30 Oct 2018 00:38:42
The rangers are coming lol hh.

30 Oct 2018 16:44:18
@shandybhoy - the Tim’s are consumed 👍.

29 Oct 2018 19:28:13
Sore one at the weekend, but we must move on and win on Wednesday, it's important we create a lot of chances in our next few games as we have should little to no cutting edge in our last two games,

What changes would we make from Sunday's team? for me Candeias has played decent but his final ball has been awful, would bring Middleton in for him with Kent on the right and Middleton left, if we are going to get down the wings and put crosses in then better doing with players willing and able to beat there man and get their head up and pick out their man with their strong foot, permitting full fitness I would play airfield for Ejaria, nothing against Ovie but think arfield makes more effort to link midfield to attack and attempt to open teams up, and Fredo for Sadiq goes without saying that dive was embarrassing

And please sort the corners out, we looked threatening from set pieces not long ago and they have been ridiculous in the last two games, tavs had plenty chances to sort his delivery.

29 Oct 2018 19:36:57
If fit I’d go with:

McGregor
Tavernier (point to prove I feel)
Goldson
Katic
Barasic

Rossiter
Jack

Kent
Arfield
Grezda?

Morelos.

29 Oct 2018 19:39:36
Agree mate, Tavs delivery is shocking, wasting good opportunities with failure to beat first man or go too deep,

29 Oct 2018 19:06:23
I can’t believe the people on chat rooms and on line sites slating SG and also blaming Alfredo for Sunday’s defeat. In my opinion we had a far supierior team on the park to beat a poor Aberdeen side, however they just didn’t perform. SG has shouldered the blame and been blunt in his comments directed at the players and I think he will stick to his word. Pull your weight or your out . Alfredo got a silly booking yes but can’t be blamed for having passion that just needs controlled. all these negative fans spouting nonsense should look where we have been and where we are now.

29 Oct 2018 19:50:17
Finally a wee bit of sanity. We have no right to just take to the field and turn teams over. Better Rangers teams have been beaten than the current side. We are definitely on the way up. Players have to learn what it's like to play for us. That badge on their chest, the responsibility is massive. Some of those that got beat on Saturday will be there for the long haul, others moved on. We are in good hands, progress is being made. Remember the starting point and how bad we were until very recently. On ward and upwards bears. We will follow on.

29 Oct 2018 22:54:30
I can't believe the negativity directed towards our manager and our captain.

I must have been watching a different game, as I thought we played well, decent tempo and for me the obvious problem was the final ball. It was frustrating as mainly candieas and Tav were the culprits.

For me tho, the more a player tries, doesn't hide, gets on the ball, then tries again, they are pilloried if they have a bad game.

Tav and candieas, along with morelos, probably created the most chances for our team last year, and again this season most likely, yet they get hammered by the fans.

Flanagan never gets past the halfway line, and Kent, while tricky, what does he create?

The midfield have their strengths, but hardly create anything also.

I'd hate to think how little we'd create taking out these players when it is so obvious to me that central midfield is sadly lacking the creative spark.

30 Oct 2018 06:03:06
Very good post blue nose! Spot on in everything that you said pal! Totally with you on your post!

30 Oct 2018 08:02:45
Mols, I agree totally. I've already posted on here that I thought the football was really good at times and it was the final pass that was missing. Jack was immense and I thought the defence was never troubled until that set piece. There was too much tip-tapping around the box when a shot on goal was required. let's get six points from our next two league games and the world will seem a better place again.

30 Oct 2018 08:10:03
Supercooper

Even you must admit that we lost to a truly shocking Aberdeen side and not to force their keeper to make a save is worrying? I don’t for 1 minute want rid of Gerard however I feel a lot of the criticism aimed at certain players is justified. The manager himself has had a go at the players in public so what’s wrong with fans doing the same?

30 Oct 2018 10:02:07
Bluenose, where are we now?

29 Oct 2018 19:03:06
Couple of tactical issues from yesterday -the failure of either full backs getting to the bye line. We seemed more worried about the otter and mcginn. Secondly why when chasing the game did we sacrifice pace in removing candias and also our holding player that everything was going through . We should have went three at the back and left jack on . Take off sadiq and coulibaly and put some pace through the middle.
Interesting January window coming up - need players who can bring instant experience to the squad - Davis, moult- agree he’s not a world beater but would do a job and would be happy as a squad player.

29 Oct 2018 23:46:54
What is it with folk here and Moult? He's the same level if not worse as Waghorn and Garner, get a grip.

30 Oct 2018 16:39:20
Gers09, decent post until Moult. This is a player who left Scotland to go home and has no intention of returning, never mind 'be happy' as a squad player. He's also struggling badly at Preston so what on earth makes you think he'd help take us forward? He isn't even as good as some of the dross we've let go, despite having a decent wee season at a wee club up here. Let's put Moult, Cummings and all the other second-raters to bed for once and for all and move on.

30 Oct 2018 17:20:54
Burnbank- did moult do a job for Motherwell? - did he score goals - did he bully our defense-, you will find the answer to all is yes. I would also throw in Jamie walker into the list, another who knows the spfl and would do a decent job. Point is I don’t want another 3 young loan signings in January we need experienced pros. Waghorn was apparently single fish yet he’s worth 6 million 🤔- point is we have only two strikers at our club and we should have double that . Your point about Cummings is mute - he did ok but never got enough game time and not sure what our manager was thinking / drinking the day he thought sadiq was a better option!

30 Oct 2018 18:25:33
Completely different doing OK for a wee team. It takes a different type of player to be a success for us. It's not just about talent, players need to be winners to be a success for us. Look thru all our great teams. better than the sum of their parts, full of guys who had jobs to do and did them. Never say die attitude, will to win, determination. I think Gerrard is getting there, there's an element of risk and trial and error involved. I can't wait to his team out there in full flow, aggressive, controlled and all over the opposition. Give the guy time. Let's go!

30 Oct 2018 22:16:03
Aye gers, let's improve the team by adding moult, Cummings and walker?

These names seemed good enough when we had the dross of last year's team to improve on. I'd suggest we've moved on from then, significantly.

29 Oct 2018 18:53:07
Thought I'd do a comparison of Souness and Gerrard's first season up to end October.

Won Drawn Lost GF GA
Souness 21 7 6 60 22

Gerrard 12 8 3 43 15

Souness had won 62% of his games with an average of 1.8 goals a game for and 0.7 goals against.

Gerrard has won 57% of his games with an average of 2.1 goals a game for and 1.4 goals against.

Souness had played 6 games in Europe and was out.

Gerrard has played 11 and is in.

Souness had played 5 domestic cup games (winning one trophy) .

Gerrard has played 3.

Souness had bags of money to spend.

Gerrard, by comparison, has not.

29 Oct 2018 19:42:53
Great point mate, but us lot are an impatient set of fans who are desperate for success but it takes time but I believe SG will get it right, wish we all wouldn’t just get behind him and stop the criticism, he will make mistakes but all managers do, Souness himself said last week he left Rangers too soon!

29 Oct 2018 17:21:13
one reason i keep mentioning we need guys LIKE davis, is the midfielders we have are one dimensional ie. ryan jack purley defensive. while guys like davis work their socks off but can also attack. i still believe there is nothing wrong with our wingers. defense is passable forwards laff ok morelos ok . sadiq rubbish said it before he kicked a ball lol its a bad sign when youtube shows highlights of guys missing the target. (in short midfielders need to be able to do both jobs. attacking is an instinct and a talent. you can teach offensive mids to track back and work hard. its much harder teaching attacking play to a defensive mid.

29 Oct 2018 19:00:12
I’d take Davis but I’d rather find the new Davis to be honest.

29 Oct 2018 15:53:53
Watching TV today, the Leicester fans and councillors talking about the money their chairman gave to local hospitals, sports club and university was a stark difference to the rubbishhouse that is Ashley. A low life that tries to screw everybody and everything he gets his hands on.

29 Oct 2018 12:54:44
another wakey wakey call---the first was demotion to div. 3---the second a the motherwell thrashing that got mcall sacked---the previous celtic game---livvy--Moscow now this---the manager is getting angry and I like it----he is making mistakes and learning FAST---I like it.

29 Oct 2018 14:25:55
Where is the evidence that he is learning?

29 Oct 2018 12:15:45
Bottom line is we have been asked 3 big game questions this season and failed miserably in them.

1) against mhanks, Played us off the park.
2) against Spartak in a game that would just about secure our progress to knockout stages of EL. A team in turmoil, many players missing and no manager. Failed again.

3) a cup semi against a poor sheep team with clueless manager. Another fail. 3 games we cannot even score?

Is it lack of bottle, lack of ability or are we just a headless unit with no ideas? .
We need leadership on the park for a start and our so called Captain does not have it. All he seems to do is want to waste EVERY free kick or corner we get,

Fredo was a big miss for us but it is a sad day when we need to rely on 1 player to score a goal for us.

Rant over.

29 Oct 2018 12:44:33
I was thinking outside McGregor and lafferty how many players in the rangers side have win a major honour?

29 Oct 2018 15:53:40
Slim Jim it’s lack of ability I’m afraid. Investment in the attacking 3rd is a must, we need a prolific striker even Morelos doesn’t convert enough of the chance that come his way. We also need a Lampard type player who can get us 15-20 goals from midfield. I hoped Dorrans could be this man however he is rarely fit it seems. Far more to be positive about this season however than negative. It all seems a bit boom and bust on here at the moment. The guys we have on loan are all young players and with young players comes inconsistency, this happens with all young players and hopefully as the manager expects we will see a reaction on Wednesday.

29 Oct 2018 16:11:38
Slim Jim. we have been asked 3 big questions and failed in all of them? What about Villarreal away, The Russian team away, the Croation team away, Aberdeen away with ten men? Where they just wee questions? Or do they just not suit your argument?

29 Oct 2018 17:33:43
Rome wasn’t built in a day! It shows how far we have come when we are disappointed with a home draw against Spartak!
Yes the unwashed and Sheep results weren’t good enough but it’s a work in progress. And fortunately listening to Gerrard he knows it as well.
He’s only had 1 transfer window so far to get us to where we are - still in with a shout of the league and still competitive in the EL.
Keep the faith 👍.

29 Oct 2018 17:41:47
Sorry but a clueless manager who managed to set up his team to snuff out our attack isn't very clueless. That was the difference between an experienced head and a rookie.

29 Oct 2018 18:01:53
Dutch you have mentioned 4 games in which we only won 1 of them and against a team no one had heard of. There is a big game mentality issue with Rangers. We have a captain who consistently fails on the big occasion. He was atrocious yesterday and is says it all when Stubbs comes out and says they deliberately targeted Tavernier as the weak link in the final. This guy is no Rangers captain.

29 Oct 2018 19:07:06
Dutch, you are missing the point. Sheep away was a regular league game. Villareal was against the group favourites where anything we got was always going to be a bonus and had we lost it would have been half expected. Away to the russian mob we had high hopes of a result etc.
If you are honest with yourself you would see that the 3 games i picked out WERE the 3 that mattered most and not just ones that suited me. If you don't see that then you are just clueless.

29 Oct 2018 22:09:27
Maribor was as big game as any we've played this season.

29 Oct 2018 11:34:36
After the last few results and looking at current opitions in the team.
I think we need to strenghten the midfield no reall creative midfielders in there and certainly not any goalscorers in there this needs addressing asap.
We mite even have the answer to goalscoring midfielder but he is away on loan docherty.
We can not only bank on morelos bailing us out every game.
also feel we have lost something in the left side left back area since barisic injured and john left so think we would consider recalling wallace he would offer us more on that side going forward.
Gerrard need to learn to change things a lot sooner if they are not working why does he not make subs eierler and why do we persist with same corner taker when we never score from them change things up and let other people have a chance it mite just work.
And last point we need starr getting grezda involved we paid a lot of money for him.

29 Oct 2018 12:20:32
after game gerrard was asked any changes you wld have made with hindsight

wldnt have played fredo vs ayr utd

whilst i appreciate stevies honesty i sincerely hope he doesn’t think sadiq playing instead of fredo was the issue

we were pedestrian all over the park from 1-11 from
the 1st whistle hardly any passes made fwd hardly any shots on goal runs into the box or tackles made in anger

we were so pedestrian i wonder if EL is catching up with us that was our most worrying performance so far given the occasion.

29 Oct 2018 12:47:07
Or maybe the players were playing to a high standard they can't maintain for long peroids? It worries me that Celtic played their worst football in 3 years the last few months but still we find ourselfs behind them in the league and out a cup they are still in.

29 Oct 2018 13:04:40
Your rant Slim Jim seems to be against SG. He was employed as a young manager so we should have known limits of what we were getting. He can only improve and his purchases and acquisitions have been outstanding. Especially acquisitions which we know are better players so he has every right to play. I can't believe in space of 4 games he's gone from God to goon certain bears already calling for his head. Now that's a rant and don't care about responses.

29 Oct 2018 16:03:10
Totally agree Trev, my main issue with Sadiq was his inability to stay onside when Aberdeen were so high up defensively. This obviously contributed to our poor attacking play yesterday as it broke down attacks and broke momentum however the supply into him as the line striker was shocking and this is where the game was lost, not enough from the midfield 5 or the wing backs yesterday. Connor Goldson looked our biggest threat when stepping up from the back and carrying it forward. Rossiter May have been a better option in midfield yesterday but we will never know. There is a dearth of quality in the attack at the moment and that needs addressed ASAP however I back the manager and the board to find what they need in January. Big chance missed yesterday though as they were there for the taking, as were Spartak.

29 Oct 2018 16:13:05
Bang on MillerBrandandWilson.

29 Oct 2018 16:56:10
Yes Barisic offers us better options offensively especially with his delivery in the final third.
We need to sign another striker and attacking midfielder or recall Docherty from his loan spell at Shrewsbury.
Yesterday the result was hard to take but we need to look forward to our next game and remain positive.

29 Oct 2018 17:34:48
@trev7 - the problem is the players are used to Morelos running along the opposing teams backline. Big Sadiq was pretty static centrally and if he’s not holding it up to bring others into play or timing his runs perfectly then you saw the outcome.

29 Oct 2018 18:05:07
Think it’s a bit much to blame Sadiq for what happened yesterday. It’s funny how so many people are slaughtering him after he has hardly played but have a go at others who criticise Gerard and say he needs time. Surely Sadiq needs time?

29 Oct 2018 18:50:42
Arthur D, Sadiq will not play another full game for us, a very very poor signing. He has not earned a chance.

30 Oct 2018 16:36:18
@arthurd - and yet it's ok for you and others to constantly slate Morelos even though he is already doing the business? He's even getting the blame for a game he didn't play in!

29 Oct 2018 11:12:35
The Sheep result - hammer blow or reality check?
First off, if anyone still doubts what Morelos brings to the team, they should be made to watch yesterday’s game on repeat for a week!
Statistically the team did everything right except for shots on target. But stats don’t win games - ability and effort do. And a lot of the team fell well short of their capabilities.

Tavs crossing / free kicks / corners were shocking at times yesterday.
Ejaria had one of his worst games in a Rangers shirt after some truly wonderful recent performances.
Nothing came off for Kent and whilst Candeias puts in a shift his final ball / decision making can be poor.

Plus wise - if McKenna was touted at £7 million, what price for Goldson?
Onto the manager. Gerrard has taking praise recently for our EL performances and should therefore take some flack when the opposite is true. I thought the game was crying out for Middleton to be introduced earlier and after slating Sadiq a couple of weeks ago for attitude etc, if that’s him improved and deserving a starting slot then I’m not convinced. Throw in his embarrassing attempt to con the ref when it was easier to stay on his feet and score then I’m definitely now convinced a new striker is a must in January.

In our defence we are still a work in progress and we move on and go again. I believe we have 4 league games which are all winnable. Let’s see where we are after that league wise.

Back to my original question - hammer blow or reality check. To me personally it was a hammer blow as I don’t rate the Sheep. Yes we have a new team / manager / style of play. But we should still have been too strong for them. Keep the faith! In Gerrard We Trust!
Let’s Go! #55 🔴⚪️🔵.

29 Oct 2018 11:27:26
I HAVE BEEN CHECKING THE Stats and in terms of Assists the figures are appalling for Kent, Ejaria, Coulibaly and Candeis. There goal tally is pretty underwhelming as well. If you are in Midfield ( a little leeway given to Defensive Midfielders) if you are not creating for your strikers or scoring yourself then something isn't right.

Now I am no huge fan of Scott Allan but he can pass a ball . So he or someone of his ilk is desperately required because the last few games have been torture.

Tav has to stop taking corners and dead ball free kicks . ( he can have the penalties because yesterday was absolutely dreadful.

29 Oct 2018 11:29:11
Union agree with most saying wish everyone would just pull their necks in as I said before give the man two more windows and l believe we will be flying chill out look at the bigger picture.

29 Oct 2018 12:48:28
Two more windows and the loans will be back at their parent clubs need replaced by other loans.

29 Oct 2018 17:03:26
If Tav doesn't take the free kicks or corners who does?
Tav has scored some wonderful goals from dead ball situations and he doesn't suddenly lose that talent, but all players can have a dip in form.
Think it's a bit of unfair criticism but we are all entitled to an opinion.

29 Oct 2018 17:36:34
@sweep1 - how do you know offers won’t be made for some of them or replaced by better? Another poster who is constantly pessimistic.
People need to get real in where we were, are and plan to be. We’ve tried the quick fix and it hasn’t worked. Let Gerrard go about his business and see where it takes us. His exploits in the EL more than deserve it.

29 Oct 2018 18:07:42
Copland01

Tavernier’s performance was shocking yesterday and it’s another big game failure for him. He is no Rangers captain and can’t defend.

30 Oct 2018 12:55:20
The original post mentioned nothing about his defensive capabilities.
We all know he is better offensively but I agree his performance v Aberdeen was poor especially taking corners and free kicks.
Basically we were poor in the final third and deliveries from wide areas.
Do we play Flanagan at RB, Barasic at LB and play Tav in midfield?

29 Oct 2018 10:49:02
I have to say I think Mcgregor gets an easy ride of the fans, wonderful shot stopper but that's 2 goals now away to Motherwell and yesterday we're the corner came into the the 6yard box surely he should of been coming for it, and the petulant kick at Celtic and yesterday were some referees can't wait to send players off.

29 Oct 2018 14:51:14
Glad I'm not only one who thought mcgregor should have came for the cross.

29 Oct 2018 17:30:19
That's a keepers ball all day long. He has to come out and wipe out everything to get a fist on the ball. The thing with Mackay Steven was just sheer stupidity. Minimum of contact but with the cheating sod waiting to go down like a sack of spuds, it is a very dangerous game to play. Don't give the refs a decision to make because 99 times out of 100 we all know what that decision will be.

30 Oct 2018 22:55:26
While I agree he should have come out for it, he gets an easy ride because if not for him Europa league run would have been done a long time ago and we would probably be lower in the league as well. He will earn us more points than he will lose us put it that way. In the end it was a terrible performance forward players didn't do their job and 1 cross done us, what can you do?

We just need to keep going, we all know every other team and their fans are desperate for us to continually fail, I just hope most of our players have too much pride to let that happen.

29 Oct 2018 10:25:28
I just don't see who bosses our midfield?

29 Oct 2018 08:58:23
Why all the panic on this site? Settle petal, as doiger says, it’s not the end of the world, no excuses required, didn’t win, get over it and move on. It’s the Scottish cup and league + a good European run that is important. A new team blending and doing well, one has to be happy. The Tim’s are singing in the rain at meeting the Sheep in the final, they didn’t want to play an emerging team.

29 Oct 2018 09:45:56
No chance in the league not consistent enough.

29 Oct 2018 10:38:02
We are 2 points behind Celtic for goodness sake.

29 Oct 2018 12:16:20
2 points behind Celtic because they have been poor not because of us being good.

29 Oct 2018 14:29:45
We're 2 points behind c*ltic and we've only won once away from home. We could and should do much better, yesterday was a disappointment but let's see where we are by the January transfer window?

29 Oct 2018 09:20:09
Expectations need to be lowered, anybody that thinks this rangers team is good to challenge Celtic ain't being truthful to themselves. No consistency for starters.

29 Oct 2018 09:16:20
I think folk are being far too harsh on Stevie g a know yesterday was a hard pill to swallow but there's going to be days like this if you think it all be plain sailing think again. We had our two best strikers out which would of made a difference. Give the manager two or 3 transfer windows then judge him.

29 Oct 2018 08:24:55
Evidence has shown on a number of occasions that we need another striker Morelos is the only one that gets us the important goals

Kyle Lafferty when playing is decent@

We were all over Aberdeen yet could not score but only testing Joe Lewis once in the second half

Just not good enough from Rangers!
That is one piece of silverware gone and already It looks like Celtic have gained that one

On yesterday's evidence Celtic will annihilate
Aberdeen for sure their not a good team and rode their luck in Quraters and Semis vs Hibs and Rangers respectively, playing very unattractive football

Rangers can't always depend on Morelos Time to purchase on a decent striker come January.

29 Oct 2018 07:27:51
Some people on here need to get a grip calling for SG to quit (or was that Timmy trolls? ) . We've lost 3 domestic games 1-0 and are unbeaten in Europe and in the league, not far behind the teams above us. We have Dorrans and Murphy out injured long term and a new team still blending. I thought the football at times yesterday was excellent but we couldn't carve out the final chance. Had Morelos and/ or Lafferty been playing I'm sure we would have won it. Why though did SG take off Jack and Candeias and do so late on? Jack was immense. Get 6 points from our next two league games and we'll move up the table. Calm down, calm down!

29 Oct 2018 07:49:58
Doiger

We lost to a shocking side yesterday and didn’t even force a save from their keeper. If you think that’s acceptable then fine, as usual you cherry pick statistics to suit yourself. The fact is we have kept 2 clean sheets out of 9 league games. We have won only 1 away game out of 5. We were shocking against Celtic, Livingston, Hamilton and Aberdeen in the cup. Candeias final ball was wasteful and what exactly did Jack do that was immense? Open your eyes we are poor away from Ibrox and still need players who can open teams up until then every away game will be a struggle.

29 Oct 2018 08:27:51
For the amount of possession that Rangers had yesterday, we produced very little in the final third. Tavernier is now taking ALL free kicks and corners and his delivery yesterday and Thursday was worse than woeful. Time to mix it up a bit, we need corners and free kicks delivered with pace, we need runners going to front post across defenders, its just too repetitive and easy for teams to read. As for yesterdays subs, thought Jack was OK but a bit negative, as for Candeias, he worked his socks off and looks to be potentially a better right back than TAV! Aberdeen were poor but our soft centre showed agan.

29 Oct 2018 08:45:21
ArthurD, I said calm down! I didn't say this away form was acceptable at all. We didn't turn up against Celtic or Livingston and should have won yesterday. I thought Jack was classy and Aberdeen never really troubled our defence most of the game. Yes, we didn't hit a shot on target which is poor. I'm just saying, calling for SG's head already is ludicrous! I didn't expect to win a trophy this season even after SG was appointed. The league cup is gone but we could well still be in Europe after Christmas (who would have thought) and we could well be 1st or 2nd in the league by then too. I don't know what the answer is regarding our away form but I AGREE that it has to change. Morelos and Lafferty's suspensions cost the team yesterday.

29 Oct 2018 08:46:09
Agree need to get a grip ye sg got it wrong yesterday with a lot of things but sacking give us a break . thing is Aberdeen had a plan to frustrate rangers and hopefully score from a set piece they got one corner second half scored from it that’s football . ye need more quality mid to front so January be interesting and we will finish in front of Aberdeen so let them have their wee moment beating bad Glasgow Rangers sure we will get our own back in future.

29 Oct 2018 09:08:36
Shocking against Motherwell aswell. Don't know what game you were watching yesterday because the standard was abysmal.

Moralas and lafferty were av available for the Livingston game and that was as bad as yesterday.

29 Oct 2018 10:17:21
Absolutely shocking yesterday not 1 player stood out for us, we couldn’t beat a very poor Aberdeen side. And before people say we didn’t have Morelos or Lafferty it’s still no excuse. We won’t win the Europa league we won’t win the league as we aren’t consistent enough our only hope of silverware is the Scottish cup.

29 Oct 2018 11:04:24
I’m in the @doiger camp. People really need to get a grip on here at times. Nobody said it was going to be all unicorns and rainbows under Gerrard. But it isn’t the doom and gloom others are making out either!

We don’t have a right to win every game because we are the Famous Glasgow Rangers! It has to be earned and not enough players turned up yesterday. It’s why even at our worst we still gave the Sheep a game.
If you can’t see we’ve came on leaps and bounds since last season then you must be blind.

The EL run itself is testament to that fact. Teams still see us as a big scalp and raise their game accordingly - the Hamilton players stats were 70% higher than when they were beat by the Hivs the previous week.
In Gerrard We Trust. Let’s Go! #55 🔴⚪️🔵.

Lot being said about game.
I said at start of season we are clearly work in progress, guys like candaes tavernier flanagan ejaria and coulibally no better than squad players. Sadiq has played his one and only Ninety minutes.
SG looks genuinely upset, annoyed after match. Some more quality required in middle and up front.
We are better than last season, no doubt, the EL money will be a very unexpected bonus going forward. Also the run will attract players.
Expectations too high, my hope is we continue to improve and have a massive league push.
We need to be behind the club, SG and the team whilst always striving to seek continuous improvement.
Stick together we will get there, be divided we will be conquered.

Review Of The Day 29th October 2018

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 29th October 2018

29 Oct 2018 07:22:17
Not posted for a while but absolutely gutted after yesterday, beaten by a poor Aberdeen team that had a nondescriptive midfield and forward line there for the taking, sucker punched at a set piece yet again! There is no way they will come close to beating them in the final, saying that there is no way we would beat them either going by the last few games. We all know the priority positions to get in Jan but who is there that meets SG's criteria? Please no more Liverpool reserves on loan there must be good young attacking midfielders/ no 10s out there but who?
- no disrespect to Steve Davis but could he last the pace of the quantity of remaining games assuming we progress in Europe after Christmas?

29 Oct 2018 08:26:57
Agreed they were awful and to lose to them is shocking. Can’t believe we didn’t test their keeper and the final ball is shocking. Tavernier can’t take corner kicks so why does he keep taking them, Candeais continually wastes crosses but keeps getting picked, there is a distinct lack of quality in the final 3rd and with such a heavy schedule in December I really fear for us. Not confident we can take much from Hearts and Hibs away and of course them at Ibrox on the 29th.

29 Oct 2018 09:09:57
Won't get by Xmas in Europe. Away form isn't good enough.

29 Oct 2018 06:35:08
I posted a few weeks ago that Gerrards inability to win away from Ibrox was going to cost us the league and got pelters, well its cost us the league cup. That team were more than capable of beating a very poor aberdeen and didn't so who takes responsibility for that? The players or the manager? I don't care about Europe, that's a side show and what I am watching is more of the same guff that I've been watching for the last 6 years. It needs sorted from the top.

29 Oct 2018 07:08:07
Jyf we were better in every department than Aberdeen if we would off had moroles are Lafferty we would of won that match comfortably. We cut through them time and time again but the final ball was wrong goodness sake how many times were we in there box and didn’t shoot are played the wrong ball. As for changing things if u listen to the pundits who on the bench would of made the difference they were similar to what we had in pitch we missed an out and out striker. As for being to late to make subs Warburton made subs every match at the 60th minute and it barely worked. I feel your pain but we are still only 2points behind Celtic, if we can keep it to 2 or 3 points and add some real quality in January we could run them close.

29 Oct 2018 07:33:41
How many shots on target did we have yesterday? How many saves did their keeper make? To say if we had Morelos or Lafferty we would have won is just guesswork. Deal in facts we lost to an awful side and didn’t test their keeper. Similar to Livingston we failed to create anything and away from Ibrox we have been rotten. Open your eyes we were very poor again yesterday and got what we deserved.

29 Oct 2018 08:30:11
36thulsterdivison

What makes you think we will only be 2 or 3 points behind them come January? They look as if the are beginning to find some form and even with all their injuries yesterday they took Hearts apart. They beat a very good Hibs side and destroyed St Johnstone away. We have some really tough away fixtures in December and can you honestly say with any confidence we will take maximum points?

29 Oct 2018 08:47:28
How were we rotten against Aberdeen at Pittodrie we battered them with 10 men livingstone and Hamilton were not great. We seem to have a mental problem with plastic pitches.

29 Oct 2018 08:52:16
did u read my post? I said the final ball let us down time and time again, we got into loads of promising positions a decent amount of free kicks in and around there box and corners that didn’t put pressure on there keeper, barely heard there midfield are strikers mentioned and if you don’t think Morelos are Lafferty would of made a difference then you certainly don’t know anything about football,

29 Oct 2018 10:02:38
36thulster you made a good point about subs. The one thing about SG is how late in game before he will sub a player but as you said about Warburton he made changes with half an hour to go and it didn't work too often and he got pelters for doing it off some fans.

29 Oct 2018 06:29:10
Keep saying taveneir is no captain, and must be striped of captaincy as well as free kicks and corners. candeias would be great if he didn't need to play in final third, I've said this from day 1. Get it sorted.

29 Oct 2018 08:33:07
Can’t argue with any of that Tavernier is a poor defender who can’t take corners, Candeais is rotten in the final third but just cause he chases back and makes some tackles people seem to like him. He is a winger whose job it is to do is beat people and send in crosses. He regularly fails to do this. A classic example of a journeyman player who isn’t good enough if we are to catch them.

28 Oct 2018 23:54:28
There was always going to be a few bumps along the road. We are all disappointed today.
