On September 27th 2011, The Union Bears and The Blue Order held a protest at Ibrox Stadium in the opening ten minutes of the match against against Kilmarnock. The protest consisted of anti-SNP chanting and the unfurling of 3 banners namely;

"Undefinable Laws Against Supporters"
"SNP Weak On Criminals - Tough on Fans"
"Football Fans Not Criminals"

The protest was not challenged by the police and passed peacefully, with other sections of the Rangers support showing unity with the message of the protest.

For clarity, there are several reasons why we feel we must make a stand upon this issue. We are protesting against the implementation on the 'Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Bill' as proposed by the current SNP government. This bill discriminates against football fans, singling out a demographic of the population for specific laws. The implementation of the bill means that almost any football supporter, whether you be vocal in support of your team or not, could be subject to arrest, without significant police evidence of any actual offence caused.

The criminalisation of football supporters threatens the game which we all love. Supporters attending a football match will now be met with fear of arrest, losing your job and being named in newspapers despite having not had your court case heard.

The Union Bears and The Blue Order would like to make it clear we are against Sectarianism and Racism in all forms. We feel current legislation covers offences of these matters and further legislation is not necessary nor required. We feel this action is being used for political gain, and being supported by police officers in order to preserve their level of responsibility and therefore preserve their level of funding in what is economically challenging times.

We have all seen that our supporters are subject to unnecessary harassment from police officers and we have and will continue to work with the Rangers Supporters working group on resolving these matters.

In a completely separate incident tonight, around 100 supporters in the BF1 section walked out in protest at the heavy handed stewarding and policing which took place within the section at the match. The groups have issued a complaint to the police and the club and this will be dealt with in due course. We would like to thank the rest of the Rangers support for the support shown towards the group regarding this matter.

Astonishingly the whole reason for the stewards getting involved was due to a young supporter in the section having a water bottle in the ground. One which he had cleared with another steward before entering and was told it wouldn't be a problem.

Among the incidents was also the situation where mounted Police outside the stadium charged at young supporters including one who was visibly walking with the aid of crutches. He was told by the mounted officers to run.

We will be taking further protest action in forthcoming matches, and would urge you all to stand with us as we fight the injustice against the supporters of Rangers Football Club. We will issue another statement prior to the game on Saturday, which will detail how we wish to have your support.

Supporting Your Team Is not a Crime.

It's good that you came on to give supporters some much needed information regarding the incident on tues night. I personally thought a riot was about to take place and congratulate the persons who chose to leave rather than cause ugly scenes as the photographers had trained their cameras on the section.

I also think that it is important for people to know exactly what you and therefore us are getting behind. I am not quite sure how many people on hear regularly attend games but as a supporter who has been going to ibrox from about the age of 5 ( now 30 years of age) any info you can give us would be greatly received.

Keep us posted

It is in all our interests to have these movements speak for us, and for us to support them............ Keep it Rangers, keep it real ! Rangers 'til I die, onward and upwards Bears

Fed up watching our best teams getting pumped of every diddy team they play and falling further down the rankings (in a couple of years we will have to play 3 or 4 qualifiers just to get into the europa league).I know everybody is entitled to a bit of banter but surely we can all see that everytime one of our teams get beat its to the detriment of all of scottish football, lets all get behind our teams in europe.

craig whyte is not daft, he is a business man, first then a rangers fan second, he does have the money to sort out rangers but he will make all his choices on a business base, i wouldnt worry to much about the rangers tax bill, he could just go bust, after all if most if not all rich people go bust, and but that doesnt mean theve not got money, just another way to screw the tax man, there are so many loop holes that he can explore, we will wait n c,

my best bet is...... he will go bust take the ten point deduction, wipe the debt, and then open up the cheque book to ally, he can afford to take the points off, cause hes nearly going to be ten points ahead shortly anyway,

The original SFA statement in regards to the Naismith ban, before updated:
Ogilvie said: “It was dealt with in very timely fashion. In the past some of these cases were still being dealt with maybe five weeks down the line.

“The one that has come forward this week has been very high profile.

“It has been dealt with at arm’s length from the general running of the SFA and that’s one of the things the club wanted.

“The compliance officer will deal with each case on its own merit.

“Naturally when it’s a high-profile case involving one of the bigger teams, there will be more publicity around it.

“But the key to this is he will deal with every case in concerning Rangers in the same manner.”

Believable1 Unbelievable0

This is a bit of a joke for Rangers as they are the team covered by the most cameras so the smaller teams that only have 1 - 3 cameras at the games have a better chance of not having bans imposed on players.

Wigan owner Dave Whelan has told Rangers chairman Craig Whyte to accept there is no chance of the Ibrox club joining the English Premier League.

Whelan immediately gave the idea short shrift and insisted the majority of English Premier League clubs would block any Old Firm attempt to join them — just as they did two years ago.
‘I think the new owner of Rangers has to get real and face facts — his club plays in the Scottish Premier League. That is where they are based,’ said the Wigan owner and former Blackburn Rovers player.

'He is living on a wing and a prayer. Trust me, Rangers and Celtic will never get into England.

‘I am not saying it isn’t a good idea for the OId Firm or for British football. I am saying it is not a good idea for English football. Our clubs would fight it tooth and nail.’
Planning: Rangers owner Craig Whyte is exploring alternative options
It is two months short of two years since the recurring issue was last raised via a proposal by Bolton chairman Phil Gartside for a two-tier Premiership of 36 or 40 clubs, with the Old Firm entering at the lower level.
At that time, English clubs did not even bother to vote on the proposal and Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said on November 12, 2009: ‘The clubs (in England) were of the opinion that bringing Celtic and Rangers into any Premier League set-up was not desirable or viable.’

‘Manchester United might fancy playing Celtic and Chelsea might want to play Rangers now and again — but there is overwhelming opposition elsewhere.
‘I really think there is no chance whatsoever of the Old Firm playing in our Premier League.

‘I can’t blame Craig Whyte for thinking it is an attractive prospect for Rangers. But there is no way we will open the door.’
(daily mail)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its because english premier clubs especially the crap ones like wigan are worried because with finances in england rangers and celtic would be a major threat to every team thats the only reason they dont want us there running scared.
Davie c

Agree4 Disagree1

I wonder if the premiership chairmen would have a say if the old firm joined the english fa at a lower league level, then after a few years worked their way up to the premiership.

Agree3 Disagree0

Has nowt to do with Whelan anyway, diddy clubs like Wigan have no power whatsover. Sky TV runs the English game and if they decide they want the Old Firm in the Prem thats what'll happen. {Ed014's Note - The clubs need to vote on it, it has alot to do with Whelan and every other chairman.

Agree3 Disagree0

Valid point Ed but if Sky say we want the OF to join and if you disagree we will take away your tv revenue the clubs have nowhere to go. They would be forced to go along with it. Without Sky's money the Premiership is nothing. {Ed014's Note - It is not just the EPL, all clubs in England would need to agree to joining the FA. Sky will never force the issue, they can't.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Dunno about that ed, suppose we will have to wait and see eh. I do not want to see Rangers in the Premiership anyway. Would rather see some effort to make our own league better. I for one would never support the Gers again if we go over the border. {Ed014's Note - It will never get past the voting stage. Teams like Blackpool proved even in these money mad times that a little team can get there, so all the little English teams that have been in the English leagues for 125 years and more dont matter just so the Old firm teams can have a piece of the pie???

Agree1 Disagree0

Heritage counts for nothing when money is involved. Unfortunately its money that controls the world. {Ed014's Note - Well the money didn't help in 2009 when the EPL vetoed the idea. And it won't help if it ever gets that far again. This idea of SKY forcing anything is wrong,SKY and the EPL work in tandem to produce the TV product,SKY have to keep the clubs sweet as well as the other way round.Bigger teams are already talking about their own individual TV deals. The Old Firm going to England should not and never will happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree it shouldn't happen but never say never. Stranger things have happened.

Even if Rangers are found guilty by the courts they will appeal it. The appeal would take between 6-9 months, therefor there is no need to worry about administration and possible loss of points this season. WATP

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Assuming that Rangers lose the ‘big tax case’, Whyte will have the option to file for insolvency or he can appeal to the Upper Tribunal to buy more time. HMRC for its part would have the legal right to demand payment as soon as they they get a positive result in the First Tier Tribunal. By custom, HMRC do not generally enforce payment while an appeal is active if it would cause insolvency. However, if they feel that a delay in enforcing payment is just creating an opportunity for the alienation of assets, they might be more inclined towards flexing their legal muscles. Given these caveats and conditions, it is possible that Rangers could delay the hangman’s noose until this time next year.

i know this is a rumours page ed but i'm interested to hear from my fellow bluenoses about there ideas or suggestions as to how rangers pay this massive tax bill if indeed the club is found guilty?? {Ed014's Note - The banter page can be used for anything to do with Rangers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A share issue like McCann did for them maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

You lot tried that before and got nowhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are fined £50 million, we will go into administration and only pay HMRC a small amount. We will pay nowhere near the full amount.

To the celtic fan, the club did a rights issue, only existng shareholders could buy... Nothing like a share issue celtic did when their club was on the brink..... Do some research, educate yourself and make some sense in the future...

Quick thought -

Ortiz = unsuccessful

Whitts - I'm not as against him as some but definitely not our most popular player.

Chimbonda - Proven right back although behavioural issues available now on free.
Only Doncaster in for him currently.

sell Ortiz take on Chimbonda. Whitts can cover RM instead of Ortiz?

Bluegenius

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Chimbonda would want too much in wages im sure!

I thought he would cost too much aswell but surely Doncaster aint paying that much?

Having said that even if he omly wanted say 15k that still means we are spending 40k to cover 1 position. It was just a thought.

Just a question, all this trouble with
HRMC and administration and all that,
does that affect our transfer budget or
can we still sign players in January?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate, if the club can't afford to pay their debts then they won't be able to afford to buy players.
I believe that a club in Admininstration can't sign players anyway.

A club in administration also can not sell players. All transfer activity is blocked. Muzz

There appears to be some difference of opinion about the blue order. If anybody would like to comment on this then please do.

My take on them is a group of fans bringing atmosphere to the games by basically coming up with new songs and singing the current songs that do not include sectarian chanting. This can surely only be good for the generally somber home games. I would be surprised if they had deep political views as a movement. Many a time during a break in play they have kept me entertained.

As for the situation at the Killie game, a young lad was let in no problem with a water bottle then a bit later one of the stewards wasn't happy that he had it and tried to take it off him, more stewards arrived and the police aswell incase of any trouble that may have started and the lad got man handled and took out, quite a few supporters were'nt happy about it and left in protest.

The Blue Order are great, as a season ticket holder in the Main Stand I have found myself watching them many a times rather than the game. They do nothing wrong, supporting their team is not a crime..they make a great atmosphere and without them the stadium would be dead.

I've just heard of another protest they'll be doing on Sarurday which in my opinion is quite funny so look out for it at the start of the match.

R.T.I.D

I agree without the blue order the stadium would be dead. They bring great atmosphere to the stadium. I was sitting in front of 4 americans on tuesday and they totally loved the atmosphere created in the broomloan.

If they wanna protest about something i support them, would also like to join them. lol

Keep up the good work.

Ed - all this talk about IP addresses, you can only see the registered address, the reason I know this, my mrs (big spurs fan) used her Laptop to rip into the Tic fans on seltic rumours about the beachball thing, and I posted something about commons about 2 hours later and got accused of being a double agent out to cause trouble when I was actually defending commons on being dropped for the international games .. so now I just don't go anywhere but here and newsnow .... {Ed001's Note - registered addresses will differ between computers you know.}
