If it was only that easy mate. Too much uncertainty over so many issues. Costs need to be cut very sharply asap. Green was right on one thing, the coaching staff need to be cut to start it off.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 green kept all the coaching staff when he was in charge of things.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is that Rangers as a business needs to be realistic about its revenue streams and costs. The business running the club needs to be viable to support the football on the pitch.

This would mean sacking highly paid players, coaches and managers. This would be unpopular with fans, who are (rightly) only worried about football performance and winning trophies.

So you can have a manager who is a good businessman but unpopular, plunging Rangers into 5-10 years of lower division hell while it builds its business to a point where it can support premier players again.

or

You can have a manager who is a good PR person, who tells the fans what they want to hear ("For every fiver. ", "I'm not leaving until I hear the. ", "Dallas Cowbows. " etc) who uses that good feeling (and SB money) to make a quick buck and run.

Honestly, at the moment, the only asset Rangers has is its fans, that can generate £20m on the spot, but £20m is not enough to sort out Rangers problems in the longer term, especially if that money is frittered away on expensive players and managers.

It's a rock and a hard place, and not all fans are agreed on the right course. It's good, steady but poor and a long time while we watch Celtic catch up in title wins. or. hope the next silver-toungued devil actually has the money he says he has. Surely we can't be that unlucky?

Agree0 Disagree0

Same old wishing for a knight and shining Armour to save the club this fascination with billionaire saving the club is what got rangers in a mess in the first place and will continue with the new rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers had the chance to start again fresh but no wanted the big players on big bucks just like before but different lvel. Grim

Agree0 Disagree0

@2/Green told Ally his two pals should be cut remember?

Agree0 Disagree0

All these big saviours have put us in the mess. nice dream

but its now up to fans but there's a lack of appetite. we talk about it

but no action

Agree0 Disagree0

For J McC to take over Rangers someone has to relinquish control. Or are you suggesting he justs hands over cash to the current incumbants.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green had started a restructuring process, bringing in troubleshooters. Remember them? First to go was the chief scout, Ally's pal. Remember him? Green told McCoist to drop his two sidekicks, green was going to make staff redundant and run it all like a professional business. M Murray, Smith and McCoist got rid of him. Ahmad's blogs told the truth. There's not enough income to deliver these costs. Did the Dundee utd gate money really get handed to charity? Cause Traynor would've had a cheque handing over ceremony all over the papers, and there's just been silence.

Agree0 Disagree0

#9 Good points apart from the charity slur which is out of order & wrong.

Personally I think Green decided he was going to leave and began finally talking sense, Rangers have to act radically to stop the losses of £1 a month. We need austerity and already have a squad that should be good enough to easily win back to back promotions. The money Ally & co are earning is a joke and Ally surely knows it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers need to let go of the past. All this paying big players and big money is them trying to hang onto what they have lost.

They can't do it any more. Once they stop and accept that, they can start to build again.

Agree0 Disagree0

@10, not saying that the money didn't go to charity, but guy @9 has a point. Do you know for sure that the money did get to the charity in question? Unless you do, you can't call what the 9 said a slur.
Al

Agree0 Disagree0

@10 so please tell us what happened to the charity money? You obviously know so please do share! as we all know Mr Green made such a big issue about it!
So please, do tell?

Agree0 Disagree0

@12

There is a good chance we would have heard about it if it had been withheld from said charity.

Lets raise the roof on Saturday and show the team that we appreciate what they are doing for us. It's been a long hard season for ALL of us but we are still here and breathing fire, there's talk of signing targets transfer budgets and investment. There's a long way to go but I for one can't wait till next season, we can see what Ally and co can do without the constraints that have been placed on them of late. We won the league which was all that was asked of the team so let's show them what it means to us.
They will certainly hear me!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great positive post and it will a big day for the Gers on Saturday and all the young lads who have started us out on the road to recovery. let's continue the positivity into next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't wait.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Coisty!. U having a laugh it has been a joke of a season. Players overpaid and underperforming. Possibly the worst set of young players in the country coming from a so called top club and set up in the country. Is this just a rallying call from someone in the inside to buy season tickets? Me thinks so!

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 Weeere doomed. Lighten up mate. Away down to Argyle Street and buy some of those Inca CDs and sit in a dark room.
Saturday is a day for taking your kids along to, enjoy tha party atmpsphere and letting out a big sigh of relief that we got through stage 1. I am a half full glass attitude. Also give a big cheer to the two guys who are cycling up from Stoke to Ibrox for charity.

@3 are you for real m8. How can the worst young players in the country win their league then? Abd by so many points? Silly stupid reply, and most probably not from a gers man, tommyblue

Agree0 Disagree0

McCoist won the league and that's all that was asked of him?? A cup winning team was put together of internationalists and spl players. Dough!

Agree0 Disagree0

@6 Dough? did you knead to write that? winning the league was what we had to do, job done, winning a cup would have been a great bonus but obviously a step too far. Next season our expectations should be higher and higher still the year after, but right now we are where we should expect to be.

I'm sick to death of coming on this page to see bears post something and for other bears to reply with a sarcastic comment or just being knobs!
Folk are posting on hear as they have either heard something from friends or posting information they believe to be true.
Seriously folk with nothing constructive to say really need to get a grip and not bother saying anything at all.
At the end of the day 90% of us on here are bears. And bears are ment to stick together not act like a bunch of school kids.

Rant over

Granite city bear

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Aberdonians don't get weegie patter.
It's the background radiation from the granite. Bottom line is everyone has differing opinions. I'm not going to agree with a Bear who wants McCoist. Never going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

All I was getting at is someone posts then gets his/her head ripped off just for posting something its nonsense

Agree0 Disagree0

Well your club is tearing apart at its very core mate! Best get used to it as there possibly won't be a club to support soon

Am I missing something here? Lee McCulloch says that Whyte stopped the players bonus for the title and that he thought something was up when he turned up for preseason and the vending machines weren't getting filled because suppliers weren't getting paid either.

Was he thinking when he decided to casually drop that little nugget into his book after everything that has happened. If he thought something was up, as he boasts, way back then why not say or do something about? Why were the punters strung along for another 6 months? And why should we give him good money to read the truth now, almost two years too late.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Again this casts a shadow on Ally. He never at any time was straight with the fans, why keep this a secret? If he had fears he hid it well enough. The more that leaks out the more of a disgrace it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys like the players, scouts, training staff, McCoist, smith and Jardine all knew. They did nothing. Looking after their own income. Self serving before fans and allowed the club to sink.
Those guys saved nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was told McCulloch was trying to leave summer 2011

Agree0 Disagree0

So there you have it. no caffiene and Ally is grounded lol

Agree0 Disagree0

McCulloch has done a great job this season, but let's not kid ourselves. At his age he was never going to get better than the deal he got. He knew this and it worked for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he's done well this season. It's division 3. Can't believe the brass neck to boast that he knew back then, while bears are protesting at the media reporting that Rangers are in financial trouble. Then he takes a good wage to coast through the season and then sell his story to the punters that have been shafted these past eighteen months.

Daly is lazy, he walks about the pitch waiting for service. Messi he aint, no good if you are looking for a Div 2 scrapper. Most of the arabs I know will be glad to see the back of him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed mate, people hit out at Sandaza for being their for the money, why do you think Daly is joining.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a rangers fan from dundee I can assure you the Arabs thought he was a great player. know there's talk of him coming to us they suddenly don't want him

The tv and spl have reached agreement over broadcast deals. The new deal also means tv Scotland can continue to provide up to 10 live radio commentaries each season of Rangers' games and post the club's match highlights online. why is the spl in charge of the broadcasts of our club? dave & hugh

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Part of the "not blackmail" agreement for the new license. Wanted us out, but still kept the revenue. But of course we are lucky to still be playing football, so we are led to believe. There was no question of a license to play, just where and how much it would cost. CheltBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Contracts need to be honoured.
Green sold loads of rights. It's all tied up for years.

Agree0 Disagree0

The spl are in charge of our tv deal because they BLACKMAILED the sfl into accepting the deal. They said they would need to lower payments to them if they didn't have our tv deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

@3: if it was blackmail then surely there should be charges brought? Or maybe you don't know what you're talking about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you even know what blackmail means? I agree though, plenty has been covered up.

Agree0 Disagree0

The SPL have paid the SFL either £1m or £2m every season for TV rights since 1998. It was agreed to allow the SPL to breakaway, 15 years ago- nothing to do with giving a license to the new club or blackmail.

G93

Agree0 Disagree0

The spl told the sfl they would give them less money if they did not hand over the rangers tv deal. i'm sorry but that is financial blackmail.
