For me there needs to be reality. Europa group stages. tick (a huge tick) . 2nd in league minimum. hopefully. A cup trophy. again hopefully. For me that would be very positive. Next season is when I expect a real challenge for the title. I know people won't agree but truth be told were 3 players short of competitive. We may already have 2 of them in Grezda and Coulibally but we urgently need a prolific goalscorer. I presume we will have to wait until January for this.

03 Sep 2018 04:36:37
Reality we're Rangers we want to win every battle on the pitch, every game we play, every cup we're in and the league nearly every time!

03 Sep 2018 06:35:54
But unfortunately your not capable. . lol.

03 Sep 2018 06:46:20
Very disappointed about yesterday's result, but we must trust SG's methods for our future success. Like many fans, I am impatient to get there, but in the light of day what he has achieved to date is encouraging.
A short time ago I tipped us to win the league this season, and although a bit tongue in cheek, I still say that we will not be far away. The team will go on a run starting from now, with 3 home games, in the next 4 league games, I believe.
My theme for the season will be in SG I trust, as he is miles ahead of anyone we have had managing, in recent years.

03 Sep 2018 09:03:57
We are way short of where we need to be in the midfield area. Think we are just as good as them defensively and up front but we are miles off them in the midfield. Probably as poor a midfield performance as I’ve seen against them and yet again Brown is allowed to stroll through the game.

02 Sep 2018 21:39:10
First post. Great progress and heading in right direction. This year is about competing. Europa League experience.
Today's result shows where we need to improve. In my opinion Tav shouldn't play and will be sold in January. Nonsense that folk are saying he should be pushed further forward. We have better right sided midfielders.
SG is the Man to take us forward. Get behind the team And watch us go from strength to strength. Sick of the negative comments. I sat and watched the dross of the last few years. When we are back. Let's Go.

02 Sep 2018 22:12:27
Jbear well said especially re Tav, not good enough if we want to win league.

03 Sep 2018 10:46:10
"Get behind the team" and "sick of negative comments" and "SG is the man to take us forward"

Think you should take your own advice and not undermine SG choices and say things about our club captain like "Tav shouldn't play and be sold in January" and "we have better right sided midfielders" - especially all in the same bleeding post.

03 Sep 2018 15:16:54
GF7 I'm fully behind the team and back SG to the max. I said last year that Wes wouldn't do in goals and got slated. As much as I like Tav I just think we are waiting on the right offer and that will be made in January. Candeias, Kent and Middleton would all be better on the right mid than Tav.

03 Sep 2018 15:53:02
You are not fully behind the team and back SG to the max if you are saying his choice of captain shouldn't play and be sold.

Kent played on the right yesterday from the start and offered absolutely nothing going forward. Candieas came on and played on the right and offered nothing foing forward. Middleton came on and offered nothing going forward, Middleton incidentally who I can't recall ever even playing on the right for the first team on the little game time he has had -
so how you can assess better than Tav is beyond me. That is nothing against any of those 3 players, it's just the reality.

We have lost 1 game out of 13, 8 of them European games - our defence is not the issue. We did not lose that game yesterday in any way shape or form yesterday because of James Tavernier, our midfield cost us.

Slating Wes achieves nothing either, considering Mcgregors utter stupidity yesterday it is most likely Wes that will be in the sticks for the next 2 games at least.

Leicester City v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

02 Sep 2018 21:42:47
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Leicester City v Liverpool - A Liverpool Perspective

02 Sep 2018 21:04:22
Was at a family function today so didn't see the game but I heard sections, what I heard could probably be summed up imo as follows;
European hangover; Midfield were "rabbits in the headlights"; Leassons need to be learned and some areas may need to go back to the drawing board
This game mibbee came too soon
Would have been different with Couli and Rossiter
From what I heard they did sound decent.

02 Sep 2018 21:16:41
How can anyone say Rossiter would have made a difference he has hardly kicked a ball for us in 2 years.

02 Sep 2018 21:40:51
Coubally and him made a difference know how to put tackle in nobody today did that overan.

02 Sep 2018 21:43:05
Totally. Bad when Pena has had a better Rangers career than Rossiter. Come Ranger get rid of him and bring in Davies in January.

02 Sep 2018 23:00:24
Agree guys and Rossiter has to be moved out. Feel sorry for guy but he will never be fit😭🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 23:36:38
Gerrard said that Rossiter was the best man in training before his injury Just because he's been injured doesn't make him a bad player We are just unfortunate we are getting his services!

He's a class player as is Coulabaly Players I believe would inject real steal into our midfield! My concern is the lack of creativity from midfield and we don't have a player that has the zest to change the game and can go scoring from Windass!

03 Sep 2018 09:07:04
Not saying Rossiter is a bad player but how can anyone say he would have made a difference when he has hardly played for 2 years. It’s funny how good players are when they don’t play.

02 Sep 2018 20:51:40
Guys we were beat by the better team wasn't a foul on Jack for the goal either.
The team needs to sit down and watch the game and see how we could have done better, different players different positions also different tactics. i know it's a bad start 5 from 12 but let's get behind the team it's going to get better even if we can't win the league this year I want a team that can compete with them remember Brendas a seasoned manager Stevie only starting onwards and upwards 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 21:10:41
Good post kellio. remembering the circumstances i totally agree. I can not for the life of me beleive that we will not beat them even twice this year and maybe draw once . Ok it was one going on five but it was still one. Dovrhink hack was fouled tho . think he was hit in the inner thigh ( dead leg )

02 Sep 2018 21:17:23
Let’s just get on with it, whether it was hangover or tactics we were beaten by better team on the day. Surprised with our tactics in first half when we looked significantly inferior and lost the battle in midfield.

02 Sep 2018 21:18:21
They have a far superior midfield and none of our midfield today would get near their team. Gerrard has done a great job so far however he needs to sort out the midfield or we will be always finish behind them.

02 Sep 2018 21:50:21
Yes once again we lost the midfield and let brown dictate the game maybe a case of fatigue and first old firm nerve we will be better in the next one defence did well today we're still a work on progress 6 players makings old firm derby we need a rest now then kick on still confident we can challenge till the end of the season.

02 Sep 2018 22:11:31
If SG watches that game back and thinks we played well and lost purely down to a ref decision, then I am extremely worried. The first half performance in particular was one of the worst I have ever seen. The only thing that surprises me is that we didn't lose by more. Lots of work needed.

02 Sep 2018 20:24:02
We need to be more aggressive and more determined in the middle of the park to even have a chance of scoring a goal never mind actually winning the game. Think coullibaly would have helped rather than Ejaria these games will not suit him as there is very little time on the ball. I thought the idea would have been to wait until lustig was tired and then give Middleton/ candeias decent time to run at him. Seems again tavernier is the weak link defensively didn't track back yet again. Yes it was a clear foul but play to the whistle we were being bombarded as it was wave after wave.

02 Sep 2018 21:11:54
We need to be cambuslang my friend . patient.

02 Sep 2018 20:14:10
Time for a touch of realism. New team unbeaten in 12 games, Celtic away always a difficult fixture and we have been heavily beaten in all recent encounters. Today we defended well, ref made an error and we were caught in the counter . Last season we would have lost by 4 or 5. The manager has come in and made us difficult to break down and new players are still to settle - I will look forward to the return fixture at Ibrox.

02 Sep 2018 21:16:26
The point is Gers09 we were broken down easily today, they hit the woodwork 4 times, did you HONESTLY see an improvement from last season?

02 Sep 2018 21:19:15
If it hadn’t been for McGregor we would have lost by 4 or 5.

02 Sep 2018 22:03:42
Remember guys it’s only start of September had a lot of games short time they weren’t at races today but another 3 games against them in league sure we won’t stand back and respect them actually looked scared work in progress sure sg will sort it in time.

02 Sep 2018 23:15:23
Jyf- I have been to the piggery on several occasions and saw our team destroyed despite having a seasoned manager and a team that was assembled at great cost. It’s a tough game and the facts are we lost 1-0 due to the referees error . Yes we rode our luck and nobody is disputing the fact however go back 12 months and remember the shambles and the score lines . No need to overreact we have five winnable games coming up, watch us go 🇬🇧. Some fans have short memories and expect miracles.

03 Sep 2018 06:35:14
Weve all been to the piggery and seen some horrendous games (5-1, 6-2 under Advocatt) but at least we went up the park every now and then with a bit of intent. Yesterday proved that we are still not even competing with them let alone overtaking them, what was Gerrard scared of? Every Rangers fan knows that to beat them we have to win the midfield ( or am I wrong ) yet we stood off them AGAIN and let them dictate the game, Hearts showed everyone how to do it by pressing high up the park. i'm sorry but that one is down to the manager.

02 Sep 2018 19:38:06
Have had time to calm down and maybe write with reason. SG team is a work in progress. can't expect magic in weeks. He will get best out of them but give him time. By time second old firm I expect far better. Maybe indication is how defence played which I thought was exceptional.

02 Sep 2018 19:58:22
If we are ever to challenge them then our midfield will need to improve the current lot aren’t good enough.

02 Sep 2018 20:07:29
Time in progress is no reason to change the way play and sit back. **** that.

02 Sep 2018 20:08:29
I agree. I can't figure out the game plan as we were outplayed. Not going to single out players but that was a huge disappointment. Centre backs were great.

02 Sep 2018 22:13:15
I agree kfraser. It looked to me that the pre-arranged game plan was to sit in and defend on our 18 yard line. from kickoff! Absolute shambles.

02 Sep 2018 19:36:38
the boss has to learn to make changes earlier on in the game. listeg is the worst right back in the spl and we were crying out for middleton second half to r. not the last 8 minutes or so. move tav out of right back. its now
flanagans spot with tav midfield.

02 Sep 2018 19:30:10
anyone any news on rossiter last I heard he was back training with Wallace and he's fit so where is rossiter.

03 Sep 2018 00:29:04
Gerrard doesn’t like him.

02 Sep 2018 19:07:59
My original post has not been posted, maybe as I was on a rant? . I'll condense it this time. we were very poor! as bad against them as I remember last year! . no fight, desire or will to win! . we were overpowered in midfield (Again letting Broon to dictate play? ) we let them, by sitting back attack us wave after wave?!? .
It was a matter of time before they scored and we didn't change anything until late on? . we will improve but it doesn't stop the hurt right now! . I for one was expecting so much more as I don't think they are any better than us! . maybe I was wrong? .

02 Sep 2018 19:26:57
Yes craig you were wrong! I have said it many times, we won't beat Celtic until we can match them in midfield!

NONE of our current midfielders would get into the Celtic team, not a single player. For us to win we need them to have an off day and for us to play at our best. Unfortunately they were at there absolute best today.

Trying to be positive, we are still a young side and will improve, we now need to concentrate on the rest of the league, and start to rack up a lot of wins, so by the time the next old firm game comes around we are still in contention.

02 Sep 2018 20:00:54
Big big difference from last year is we were not just off the back of a horrendous journey to the unknown two days ago. Brenda even rested two or three of his players from their european game against much inferior opposition. Need to cut the guys slack. two players in their midfield cost 9million . broon was 4 1/ 2. What eight years ago so easily 10 now . We will come good . all that considered and the piggery full of them making it harder we came through it. The manks will let their guard down now. No way were we in a position to match them today. boys were dead on their feet . a european performance and it would be 1.0 at half time all to play for . I for one am still well satisfied with our progression.

02 Sep 2018 20:11:24
I agree mols. I'm also very satisfied with how we are progressing. I would have bitten your hand off for this week's results.

Getting through to the group stages of the Europa league and coming away with a narrow defeat (I know but it was still only 1 mill) .

We need to get coulibaly back fit and into the team again. Probably at Ejaria's expense, although I think the boy will be a great player in a couple of years, his lack of experience showed today. Why he didn't foul Rogic when he had the chance is beyond me, and I don't think Celtic would have had it so easy in the centre had he been playing.

One major criticism for me was both barisic and Tav had no idea how to deal with Tierney and forrest. Along with midfield that needs seriously looked at!

02 Sep 2018 19:00:24
Today I think that there quality over ours showed. they were first and second to every ball and managed to play football. we were no where in first half and if it wasn’t for the defence and McGregor we would be looking at another thumping. Ejaria and Kent were lost and our front two were non existent due to no service. Coulibaly and rossiter in my opinion would have made a difference so fingers crossed we can grow over time and win against the lesser teams then beat them at home to grab these points back.

02 Sep 2018 18:45:58
I thought it was a foul on jack for their goal the referee got a call in his earpiece from the linesman to say so but chose to ignore it as Celtic were countering we never got sniff from the ref today also I would ask the official why they let the coin throwing at our players when taking corners go on in the second half sky where quick to change the camera angle when it was going on.

02 Sep 2018 18:59:11
Couldn’t agree more tin man
I noticed sky changed the camera angle when Barisic was getting coins rained down on him.
Also as I am usually at both home and away games I could not believe how biased the commentary is on sky, both Andy Walker and that Ian Crocker were virtually willing the ball into the net when Celtic were attacking.
Also every time a Rangers player fouled it was a clear foul but when a Celtic player fouled there was not much in it.

02 Sep 2018 19:10:32
I have had the misfortune of listening to Andy Walker on numerous occasions and this is standard. Biased to the max. Why sky think it's acceptable to have a Celtic supporter on these games beats me!

02 Sep 2018 19:32:49
I can't stand Andy Walker and he should never be on commentary in those matches

Even Andy Gray although a Rangers man he'd be far more neutral than him!

02 Sep 2018 19:38:07
Absolutely pathetic! It was the refs fault. The commentators were against you. Sky are against you. accept you were outplayed, outclassed and out thought by a far superior team. Second is all you can aim for this season.

02 Sep 2018 18:44:07
Disappointed but only one defeat so far. We have had away games to Aberdeen, Motherwell and Celtic and should have won the first two. We were poor today but they were nothing special. SG has done brilliantly so far. We've a rest now then Dundee and St Johnstone at home. 6 points will build the confidence again. Don't rate Kent and I'd push Tav forward and play Flanagan at RB plus play McCrorie plus Coulbally when fit. Keep the faith Bears!

02 Sep 2018 19:01:33
Who you dropping for mcrorie? Can't play mcrorie coulibaly jack ejaria and Arfield!?

02 Sep 2018 22:07:27
Ejaria after today.

02 Sep 2018 18:09:27
I DO HOPE THAT NOBODY WAS HURT TODAY. FOOTBALL IS A GAME LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT.
DOUNEBEAR.

02 Sep 2018 18:03:44
If it wasn't for McGregor we would've been thumped! Defence was decent today aswell We have no great players from midfield that can make things happen Need someone with real quality A creative midfielder definately missing and most of the game we couldn't get it up to our strikers today so they may be able cut some slack today!

The team is a work in progress and we can see there are early signs of brilliance!

We need to go into the old firm with the correct mentality That's the real difference to be honest!

There were about 6-7 debutante going into this match which is like no other!

Some players also looked premature!

Do I think Celtic are a great team? No far from it! Their decent but are you trying to tell me that lot were the best team we played this year!? I would say Maribor are every bit as good but going on result Celtic beat us and it's the first time we have been beat so of course they guys will take the plaudits for it!

Gerrard needs to do his work quietly and always strive to improve this team furthermore and he is going to have to start getting a consistent run of wins domestically

I'm not so much bothered about Europa as we are playing bigger quality teams

Gerrard the staff and players need to realise that those SPL games are a different animal and the players need to come out the traps quicker

Lets see what the next couple of months bring

C'mon the Gers!

02 Sep 2018 18:46:55
Well said Kaz🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 19:13:38
Kasmania82 who are you to tell Gerrard what the team needs or what he needs to do. think he's doing good enough job.

02 Sep 2018 19:34:40
6countries I am not telling what you talking about

02 Sep 2018 19:42:44
6 counties, a bit harsh, but needs pointing out, 4 league games only 1 win?
This is the bread and butter stuff, and we need to impose ourselves on teams, even Celtic, not sit back and have no out ball!

02 Sep 2018 17:31:58
Season is a success already, europa group stages, big achievement . Team is only 3/ 4 months together, need to cut some slack . We are building, they are selling with no quality replacements ready to slot in. But don't get me wrong the points lost at the sheep and well are sore to take, we were rubbish today, ojaria has been great but at fault with goal today, he tracked backed then stopped, kick up the backside for that in our team . Better times ahead.

02 Sep 2018 17:56:19
Thought the above pass marks in our team today, were without a doubt, allan mcgregor, connor goldson and nikola katic!

02 Sep 2018 18:02:41
Is this the worst start in the league for 27 years?

02 Sep 2018 18:11:28
Can’t disagree Supercooper all 3 did well today unfortunately no pass marks for others. Morelos and Lafferty were starved of any service, Tavernier was really poor and Barisic’s crossing was poor. However it’s the midfield that’s the big concern they totally dominated us in there and we are miles off them in there. Jack is average, Arfield was missing and neither Kent or Ejaria could cope with the occasion.

02 Sep 2018 18:15:41
Just watching their goal ejaria and Tavernier just stop running and let them walk it into the net. basic defending goal could have been avoided.

02 Sep 2018 18:50:09
Coop, My major disappointment was the 2 Liverpool lads who couldn’t cope with the atmosphere? The two of them are not bad players, but I guarantee you they will NEVER be good enough in the EPL never mind Liverpool 🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 20:37:35
Worst start to the league in 29 years oh eh great we are siting 7th with only 1 win in 4 and it was against St Mirren but yeah fantastic 👀👀👀👀👀.

03 Sep 2018 02:01:28
Season is success only if we win something.
You get hee haw, for second third or fourth.
Rangers are ah club that need to win, and win everything.
We don't have ah Devine right to win everything, but as supporter of Scotlands most successful team we demand success.

02 Sep 2018 17:30:12
Whats the crack on twitter some fans saying stevies got to go. Utter madness. I've got every blelief that we will come good.

02 Sep 2018 17:52:51
Sangil80,i said on here a few weeks ago, that if things didn't work out in our game against celtic, that some of our minority supporters would be right on steven gerrard's back and the team! They proved me correct! They just can't see its still a WIP, with a turnover of around 26 players or so. We have improved and will get much better,
when we play more games together and fully gel! Although i do admit that it wasn't a good performance from us, especially in that 1st half today! Give it time, for gods sake guys!

02 Sep 2018 17:53:05
Don't listen to these type of fans Not a clue! Stuck in a time warp that lot!

02 Sep 2018 17:54:37
It’s utterly ridiculous for anyone to suggest that he must go. Getting to the group stages is incredible and he has already justified being the manager. Very disappointed today but far better than previous years.

02 Sep 2018 18:07:02
Most of these people don't even go to games and never been to one. They Couldn't tell you who's who . just watch live streams on you tube and say they support rangers. If we win manager is great if we lose a game they are rubbish. Never supporters and not worth even reading or listening to there pish. Last week I went into work and one of these fans said goldson needs to go after his slip against Motherwell. That's the mentality unfortunately of a part of our support .

02 Sep 2018 18:09:01
Well said coop, how can anyone say Gerrard hasn’t improved us when we got put out last season by a Luxembourg team is a joke! We are in the group stages of Europa League, we went to Aberdeen and played brilliant with 10 men for goodness sake,

02 Sep 2018 18:40:06
Surely there isn't fans shouting for SG to go. I despair with some of our supporters I really do.

02 Sep 2018 18:50:30
We are all needing to disengage with these knuckledragging supporters! They haven't a clue and ain't glasgow rangers supporters! They wouldn't know ibrox from celtic park and probably don't even know rangers play in blue! that's how good a supporter these morons are!

02 Sep 2018 19:21:23
To say Stevie G must go is plain daft but if anyone saw an improvement in that performance compared to last season then you were not watching the same game as me! How biased was the commentary by the way.

02 Sep 2018 21:24:35
I can gaurantee that their will be manks in disguise calling for Stevie’s head . just as there would be bears in disguise calling fir Brenda’s if we had won.

02 Sep 2018 17:28:22
Expected a bit more today.

However some people need to get real. We are a new team and Europe and injuries have taken their toll.

We have been to Russia and played with 9 men. Been to the land of the sheep and played with 10 men for 80 minutes. Played 4 games with only 1 at home. Some of our team haven't played much never mind have such a difficult schedule.

Stick with SG Bears. We have come on so much. Today was sore and I agree with that.

Let's back the team and I'm away for a pint.

Dado and Arthur sorry to take the nip.

Onwards and upwards 🇬🇧🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 17:42:57
Who was missing injured.

02 Sep 2018 17:49:44
A bit more
Was a disgrace.

02 Sep 2018 18:06:19
Coulibaly, dorrans, Rossiter, the new winger?

Are you a rangers fan?

02 Sep 2018 18:08:25
And Murphy.

02 Sep 2018 20:50:29
None of them get a game apart from maybe coulabaly.

02 Sep 2018 17:27:36
If you can't pass the ball to each other you are not going to win any game 1st. half terrible 2nd. half slightly better I think the trip to Russia has taken a lot out of there legs especially since we were down to nine men.

Remember we have only had 15 games together, the break will be good for us disappointed but not downhearted.

02 Sep 2018 17:13:18
Have to laugh when I see people slagging Gerrard off about the tactics today, I remember matches at park head during the 9in a row years that we're identical to today's match, burns team absolutely peppering our goal and goram pulling off save after save and us scoring with our only shot on target. We conceded a goal today which should not have been given, apart from that they would not have scored against us today. We are missing Coulibaly no doubt about that. And how can people say it's the worst start in 20 years we have got through 4 rounds in Europa League for goodness sake.

02 Sep 2018 17:48:33
Aye very good pal

But easier to do that with Gascoigne, Laudrup, McCourt, Negri etc

We have no quality in the final third. You are comparing the style with a complete lack of quality.

02 Sep 2018 17:53:18
They hit the crossbar 3 times and McGregor was our best player today. Taking away our European results, this has been our worst start to a league campaign in 29 years - can't argue with that fact.

02 Sep 2018 18:03:50
Of course I can argue the fact your not taking into consideration the European campaign, and as for hitting the cross bar so what goram saved penalty’s when we were under the cosh against them, never heard of McCourt and Negri played half a season.

02 Sep 2018 18:28:22
You can't just "take away" results to suit your argument. Disappointed today, would have fully expected more points than we have so far but Europa groups and all it entails are vital. Extra cash, pedigree and great Euro nights back at Ibrox. We will find a patch this season where we go on a solid run and will peg back what we have missed so far. Every one of the next five matches is highly winnable.

02 Sep 2018 16:52:25
Really not happy after today. Thought we lacked everywhere except from McGregor.

I do feel the trip to Russia zapped up a bit but for the most part we were quite happy to park the bus, if we had a bit more balls we would have got something from the game.

7 points off top of the league now, worst start to a season in 20 odd years.

02 Sep 2018 17:09:52
29 years, and we've had some dodgy managers in that time, McCoist, Warburton, Pedro. 5 points from 12 is unacceptable. Just don't understand what we were trying to achieve today. It was obvious that it was only a matter of time before they scored and don't know why it wasn't changed.

02 Sep 2018 17:13:30
McGregor was brilliant today with the exception of his blatant stupidity of kicking out. He will probably spend the next 2 games in the stands now and deservedly so. After hearing Stevie G too can't see it being appealed.

A lot of the people banging on about how Alfredo is a liability seem very quiet on McGregor today - it was baffling, completely unprovoked and we got very lucky.

02 Sep 2018 17:25:17
That's right, in 1989, and who won the league that year? Right again - Rangers! Shove your silly stats where they don't count.

02 Sep 2018 18:02:34
Struth couldn’t agree more.
Against Aberdeen we looked compact and very fast and dangerous on the break, even at Motherwell when 2-1 down we still had belief and played in a fashion that’s got us 3-2 up.
Today was park the bus, even when we got the ball is was hot potato. I don’t know why wee changed so much, dare I say we played for a 0-0!
Again I agree GF7, McGregor was outstanding but he deserves everything that’s likely to come. you just can’t do that. I do feel however that Alfredo got away with it at Aberdeen, Naismith got away with it against Celtic, Brown got away with an elbow against Hearts so will McGregor get away with it?

Stats are there to be looked at mate, League tables don’t lie!

02 Sep 2018 18:10:43
Dutycalls 👏👏👏👏👏.

02 Sep 2018 18:15:25
Duty calls very well said mate, we r progressing well, as I've said need to win next four league matches for starters.

02 Sep 2018 18:24:20
Worst start in 20 odd years blah blah blah, you all need to go and take a look at yourself,
We are a new team in transition, that have made the group stages of a premier European tournament.
Some people on here must have forgotten what state we were in 12 months ago.
Today wasn’t great but get behind the team and manager and let’s see where we are the next time we play them
and don’t forget it.

02 Sep 2018 18:52:39
Is that not a bit of a contradiction?!

Progressing well but worst start in 29 years?

We will always be compared to them, that’s just how the old firm is and if we don’t start taking points off them and climbing the table then we will continue to be 2nd best!

02 Sep 2018 21:30:16
If this is our worst start can any stat man tell me when was the last time we went 12 games unbeaten at the start of a season?

02 Sep 2018 16:23:42
I think people are being very unfair on the team today. 1st half we didn't see much of the ball but we contained them and in my opinion they had 2 clear cut chances and we had 1. 2nd half was better. but have we got better of course we have. have they got better the answer is no. if that game had been at home today we would have won. Still think we really miss a quality attacking midfielder someone who can change a game. but that costs real money 4 or 5 million and that is the difference. Celtic have that with Ntcham who in my opinion is a really good player.

02 Sep 2018 16:32:54
They won't get better whereas we will.

02 Sep 2018 16:33:33
Sorry Jamie really poor today first half was an embarrassment as poor as it's been in terms of them bossing it remember that they hit bar twice and Mcgregor Had some great saves I think we will lose Mcgregor for a few games he's bound to get retrospective ban for his kick
I was shocked how bad we were in first half 2 redeemed it a bit we went 10 mins with 0% possession in their half that's totally unacceptable.

02 Sep 2018 16:35:52
Midfield largely anonymous today especially Ryan Kent.

Morelos - another disappointing performance in an OF match.

Centre backs - impressive.

Goalie - almost Andy Goramesque at times.

I said during the week that the game against Ufa was more important than today which I still believe but that was very disappointing today and Stevie clearly got his tactics wrong. Onwards though.

02 Sep 2018 17:05:22
Tell us what tactics should he have used? Do you think he wanted to play most of the match on the back foot. That mob are a good side and well coached. Patience required by all we’ve been away to three hard places to go and should really be 4 points better off. KEEP THE FAITH 🔴⚪️💙.

02 Sep 2018 17:23:53
In Stevie G I trust, however I will go on a bit of a rant.

In every game this season we have played with a high press, today we were happy to concede possession. When we lost the ball we retreated into our own half and allowed them the ball. i'm no master tactician but that was poor.

Tavernier had a nightmare! . Tav is only decent when he plays with Candeias. Candeias covers well for Tavs defensive frailties.

For the last 10-15 old firms Scott Brown is given time on the ball to dictate the play, why are we not learning our lesson?

Why wait so long to make a change?

Rant over! We are improving and we will be close, just very frustrating!

02 Sep 2018 17:25:38
Geronimo

When u say UFA was more important, I assume u mean £wise?

We are not going to challenge for the Europa League. It is going to cause us injuries and jetlag only other than £

When Chelsea won the EPL under Conte a few years ago it was in part due to not being in the Champions League

Europa does not help us domestically, quite the opposite

Very difficult as of course we want to be back there, but look at today, injuries have already cost us Coulibaly, Dorrans and rossiter and it is still midfield/ creative where we are weakest

Unfortunately Rogic, MacGregor, thumb, Eduard would walk into out team and Forrest is better than kent.

02 Sep 2018 17:33:39
LDM17

If my auntie had baws she would be my uncle.

02 Sep 2018 17:34:05
Couldnt agree more LDM we've it tough at the start of the season and we've still got some good playeres to come back.

02 Sep 2018 17:44:41
gharrower - Moneywise and prestige wise.

Good players are easier to sign if they know they can expect European football and they will also improve more playing against decent European sides and hopefully be able to command higher transfer fees.

Anyway, it's no disadvantage as Celtic will be playing as many games in the group stages as us.

02 Sep 2018 17:45:26
Ryan Kent was played on the right when he has played on the left in every other game. No help to tav. CAndy should have played. we have shuffled our team twice now to fit in Lafferty and it has cost us. waste of money should never have been brought back. we need to have a go at that lot not sit back and try to hit on the counter. S G got tactics wrong. still a mile behind. Sick as F.

02 Sep 2018 17:56:58
Geromino

Unfortunately we will be out of Europe before the next transfer window to sign plsyersZ call it defeatist, but we do not have the quality in the final 3rd to progress in Europe on the counter attack

If not for the cash it may have been a benefit not to be there.

In saying that, IF everyone was for, we almost have 2 squads

Very difficult as I was shouting them on on Thursday same as everyone else BUT Europa does NOT help us league wise.

02 Sep 2018 21:38:01
Gharrower . I’ve been out wi your auntie and your right she has some set of baws 👍.

02 Sep 2018 15:57:48
Defo missing something in middle of park, even jack looked like wee boy the day and Ovie Ejaria wtf, should a took rogic out at half way line or when got a chance for the goal.

02 Sep 2018 17:30:57
Coulibaly maybe?

02 Sep 2018 15:16:53
Early days so let's not overreact.
Two fundamental points though.
Much as I like Tav, he cannot defend! . Therefore in certain games, particularly away at the likes of Legoland and Pittodrie, Flanagan should play right back and Tav further forward as part of a midfield 5.
Secondly I genuinely worry about the contracts of the two Liverpool loanees, Ejaria and Kent. The former was excellent midweek but woeful today and should have been subbed Early doors.
I personally think Candieas gives us much more than Kent all over the pitch and covers back much more effectively.
Hope SG will sort it out but worry about guarantees given regarding loanee playing time.
Coulibaly was much missed!

02 Sep 2018 15:40:18
Gerrard must learn that Rangers teams don't go to the piggery and sit in and try to contain them.

Your Ross Countys and Partick Thistles and Livingstons do that.

You have to go at them and there was no high press today.
Hope this is a lesson learned.
Dissapointed Bluenose.

02 Sep 2018 15:59:21
Dado have you ever heard of Walter Smith?

The man who always sat deep at the piggery. We fell short today and that can happen. Morelos and Lafferty didn’t hold the ball. Remember our last game was thousand of miles away and we had 9 men for 30 mins.

02 Sep 2018 16:24:15
Baz Celtic never played their high pressing game when Walter was there.
Brendan does and the only way to combat that is win the midfield to stop their quick attacks at source.
Ejaria has been great but he was blowing out his arse after 50 mins and made brownook good.
Poor tactics by Gerrard, we asked them no. questions.
Dissapointed.

02 Sep 2018 16:25:19
Baz the bear

Are you seriously comparing the teams that Smith had to the team that Gerrard today? It’s easy to sit deep when you had the players that Smith had.

02 Sep 2018 16:53:58
Silly statement dadprs0, the teams been together for a couple o months compared to them that have played together for a couple o years. So why go gungho and attack. I think celtic were at there best today and we let them play there own game and gave them far too much time on the ball. We are only going to get better and it is going to
take time to gel as a team.

02 Sep 2018 17:06:15
Arthur D what is your point?

Yes I am comparing Walter smiths tactics to Gerrard’s today. Do you have a clue about tactics. We let them have the ball first half. We played thousand of miles away on Thursday. We are a new team. We will improve. We had s bad day.

Better teams than Gerrard have been battered at parkhead.

Come on Stevie. Prove all the doubters wrong.

02 Sep 2018 18:02:10
Baz the bear

The point is that Smith had some seriously top players at his disposal. Defenders like Gough, midfielders like McCall, Gazza, Albertz and forwards like Laudrup and McCoist. Unfortunately Gerrard hasn’t got players anywhere near their class.

02 Sep 2018 15:15:28
Disappointed in the performance especially 1st half and I know it hurts getting beat however we had 6 players making there old firm debuts and let's be honest it is a hard place to get a result against a team who have been together for a few years better teams than us have lost there we are a new team new staff who have had a heavy schedule of games a lot of travel where they will have been more or less recovering after a game with limited time to work on the training ground before another game they are bound tae be mentally and physically tired as well as carrying knocks this break will do us good I can see massive improvement from the last few years we have qualified for the Europa league which financially is massive for us we have played 3 tough away games in the league so we have a few home games coming up looking at the big picture more than happy with where we are.

02 Sep 2018 15:11:43
What is it going to take for Steven Gerrard to understand Tav is never a defender or a captain, and has continued to cost us goals on his side of the park for three years.

It's not difficult for other teams and Brendan, to work out, but it seems to be for Stevie G.

A back four becomes a back three when Tav is named, and it puts pressure on the defence.
Sorry. but Tav and Morelos should've been sold during the last window.
Morelos showed today he has learned nothing about his temperament this season.
Team was poor today but for McGregor it would've been another 4-5 and he should've been sent off for his kick out on Ajer.

02 Sep 2018 16:01:00
Dodo away and lie down.

02 Sep 2018 16:30:34
Tav bashing in full flow I see.

02 Sep 2018 16:37:16
Dado every single week without fail you are criticising Tav. We get it you don’t like him but it’s guys like you who make players feel unwanted by the fans with your constant bashing of them.

02 Sep 2018 16:45:05
Garbage tactics from Gerrard.
Jambos get in about them and win
We sat back as if we were in the Nou Camp trying to get a draw and snatch one on the break.
Never snatch anything on the break with Morelos as he falls down most times and wants to argue all the time, instead of scoring goals.

02 Sep 2018 17:42:26
Lumie. Tav is a ok footballer on the front foot but never defender or a holding midfielder. so sell and he would've been sold to W Brom if another 2 m was offered.
But he weakens our defence as everybody and their granny know that he is Rangers weak link in the defence.
How many times for Gods sake are we to put up with goals against due to Tav's inability to defend and track back.
Tierney ripped him to shreds today and I am embarrased for him.
He ain't no Eric Caldow or Sandy Jardine and never will be.
So sell, sell, sell and we will be better off all round.
Taxi for Tav and Morelos deadwood holding Stevie-G and us back.

02 Sep 2018 14:59:53
Apart from the woeful display team wide today, most disappointed we couldn't hold on to ball and allow midfield to front flow.

02 Sep 2018 14:53:01
On another day we could have grabbed a draw but on the other hand could have lost by 3 or 4.hearts have shown if you press the unwashed you can hurt them. we didn't do this from the off, we are actually good at it as well. I would say Gerrard missed a trick there and he made mistakes in our other 2 away SPL games as well. still a learning curv.

02 Sep 2018 15:50:43
Im sure once we get them at ibrox we will press harder and we would have had more games under our belt but we will get better.

02 Sep 2018 16:04:04
We need a wee run of wins now. Really hard start with new team. Next 2 games at ibrox are now must win games.

02 Sep 2018 16:27:51
I'm expecting is to win next 5.

02 Sep 2018 14:50:19
Hope Stevie G learns from this. Midfield anonymous and only desperate defending and McGregor and luck kept this to one. With Kent and Lafferty having to defend so deep and so much it took away from any creativity been may have had. Its easy to slaughter Tav but he was as our only attacking outlet for most of that game.

02 Sep 2018 15:54:24
People slaughtered Dorrans but Arfield is no better. Jack is average and Ejaria was completely lost. They ran riot in first half really poor performance.

02 Sep 2018 14:38:57
I said in a earlier post that I think they are still just 2 strong for us at the mom and that a draw would have been a good result.
I think SG needs more time to gel us as a team and the European trip didn't help today if u look back at the past 5 years the vast amount of the times that the unclean have dropped points was when the returned from a long European trip and they have had a consistent team week in week out.
This is a brand new team that hasn't had a proper time to gel because of the number of games that we have had to play in sort a short spell. We have also been unlucky with the injury to one of our key players. Also some of the refereeing decisions that we have had 2 put up with have been shocking both at home and in Europe.

02 Sep 2018 14:33:38
That was a hard one to take but sorry lads, i have to disagree with most on here. not a great team performance for most of today, at least not as dynamic and penetrative as we're capable off and we did show them too much respect but. their only goal came off the back of a huge ref blunder (the foul on jack was right in front of the ref and on the edge of their box) and it was clear, to me at least, towards the end of the game, when we really started to go for it, that we were more than a match to them and should have been more positive from the start. The points dropped at Aberdeen and Motherwell were sore ones but this game was there for the taking as well. Early days but I still think we can take this league this year.

02 Sep 2018 14:51:18
They hit the woodwork 3 or 4 times and McGregor made at least 6 great saves they totally dominated the game and your clutching at straws with the challenge on Jack he needs to be stronger. They deserved to win and we were poor.

02 Sep 2018 15:06:59
Rubbish
Shocking performance
From the 1st minute we were 2nd best unacceptable n why so long for subs
Raging.

02 Sep 2018 14:26:56
One of most negative displays seen in a while. Walked away in disbelief at lacklustre display. Kent got to wake up today. Certainly most of team totally green in old firm matches but SG supposedly built team to overcome this.

02 Sep 2018 14:37:24
I think we've really shot ourselves in the foot with the ticket allocation. Players looked liked rabbits in a headlight.

02 Sep 2018 14:37:49
I remember the wee generals first old firm game it was an embarrassment and we had world class players then, I think the next 1 will be a lot better half a season together by the next 1.

02 Sep 2018 14:45:46
Agree 36th, also will understand more about game in Scotland and what manager expects.
It's time to stick together, based on all the players people think r mince should not play again I look forward to the next 14 signings.

02 Sep 2018 15:08:42
Ticket allocation?
Inept rubbish
Tell truth will help in long run.

02 Sep 2018 15:19:41
Alot on here were getting far too carried away. Get the Europe money and go from there was massive just to do that. I was never expecting anything but a draw at best. Think after another batch of games we will be a better match. Still think we will have a great season. Let's go.

02 Sep 2018 15:36:05
**** europe
Stop being 2nd prioritu.

02 Sep 2018 14:21:40
Massive over reaction on here to today's defeat.

We have improved so much and I think the Russia trip affected the team energy levels badly today.

Sure I was hoping for a lot more today but I'm still optimistic about the players we have brought in.

Remember 14 new players against a very settled Celtic team. I think come next Old firm game will tell us a lot more about this team.

02 Sep 2018 14:39:15
Spot on mate early days plus an energy sapping journey to and from Russia probably no more than 48 hrs ago.

02 Sep 2018 14:39:23
Not overreaction we all saw it I'm not having this tired excuse they weren't that tired that the couldn't win a 50/ 50 or pass to a team mate a reality check for us all Inc SG.

02 Sep 2018 14:20:02
Got what we deserved today. We are better than that but didn't show it today. McGregor kept it respectable.

Showed them far to much respect.

02 Sep 2018 14:19:56
Why the disagree? Terrible start to league season Europe is only good thing to happen but looks like it's going to hinder us.

02 Sep 2018 14:42:15
It’s his first defeat and we looked very leggy which is understandable. I don’t see how bringing European nights back to Ibrox with a possible 7M in income is going to hinder us. Hopefully get a few of the injured lads back to bring freshness into side with the new additions. Today is a sore one but can’t let it over shadow what has been visible progress.

02 Sep 2018 14:15:35
A wee reality check, yes we have improved and yes we all expected better but a relatively small squad and just off the back of a gruelling 90 minutes in russia with 9 men the players looked leggy first half. Second half we were better but didn't create enough. Two massive games coming up after the break.

02 Sep 2018 14:33:28
Some perspective we haven't won at the piggery since 2010 with a last minute ugo eghiog overhead kick. We setup to get a goal and then hold on. It didn't work out this time but they threw everything at us and only won 1-0. We will continue to grow and develop as a team.

02 Sep 2018 14:14:46
Anyone catch the game today against the struggling Celtic team? Colster Union Jack any others? Men against boys once again!

02 Sep 2018 14:18:16
LH88, Celebrate way my mates, NAW?
Right onto the Gers site? 😭 person.

02 Sep 2018 14:23:26
Well said yately, never been on a Celtic fans page and would have no interest.

02 Sep 2018 14:29:27
No my mates are here laughing tae mate! Come on u don’t expect to get away with the nonsense getting spouted on here without getting put back in your box! 😜😂.

02 Sep 2018 14:30:00
Lh88 as rubbish as we were you're mob managed to score once were we really that bad how bad must they be if that's the case one goal against that 😂🇬🇧🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 14:41:52
Ur keeper and cross bar saved u from another derby demolition! A keeper who shouldn’t have been off the park may I add! A stroll in the park once again and like I said men against boys! Morelos and Lafferty! Hamilton accies strikers caused us more problems! Do u think u’ll get top 6 this year by the way? Lol.

02 Sep 2018 15:09:12
Ok what about the foul on jack that led to goal what about the Christie dive what about Broony the hard man falling back 10 feet when Morelos apparently pushed him
It's a long season so I'd be careful with your gloating.

02 Sep 2018 16:21:11
foul on jack! Away and gies peace! U can clearly see jack goes down under no contact! Stop listening to your ‘managers’ exuses mate and wake up to the fact we put u in your place once again! Different season same old exuses! Remember this was a Celtic team in free fall by the way, who are woeful In defence! Boyata and Ajer had your 2 jokers in there back pocket the whole game, while broony and Ntcham done the same to your midfield! But I feel your pain, and your right it is a long season! Especially the way your playing lol.

02 Sep 2018 14:09:36
Ridiculous performance FACT
expected better.

02 Sep 2018 14:15:53
Yeah didn't get stuck into them like ah thought we would, the ref need ah slap .
Stops play for nothing freekick,
But plays on when Jack chopped down?
Can see magreggor getting retrospective card for kicking out at Ayer.

02 Sep 2018 14:36:17
His kick wasn’t any worse than Naismith one so if he doesn’t get punished neither should McGregor.

02 Sep 2018 14:07:09
Going forward we are going need to sharpen up hopefully some time on training pitch will help that.
I do feel we showed them to much respect today and players where not passing the ball well you could say there tired but there going have to get use to that now.
I feel the squad is still a bit on the small side for Europe and the leauge there was no real quality on that bench in the forward postions and midfield still lacking creativity hopefully once couliabaly and grezda are in the team this will change.

02 Sep 2018 14:06:39
I would have been very surprised today if we had come out all guns blazing. 72hrs ago we played in Russia with 9 men and travelled 7hrs back . Couldn't have picked a worst game to come back to and it clearly showed. Don't be too hard on the players.

02 Sep 2018 14:05:35
Nothing to be positive about there.

Sorry lads but that was the most embarrassing performance I've seen. The only difference was only 1 goal.

I'm ashamed to say that. If this is how we are going to be against them then I don't have the stomach for it.

Tactics were gash! Sitting off waiting for the inevitable to happen is not football.

I so want to be positive just now but it's too hard, I'm gutted and hurt, once again!

Sh! te.

02 Sep 2018 14:12:19
we were so one dimensional and with no ability change. didn't pass well enough. didn't hold the ball well enough. not the display I was expecting or hoping for still seen to lack a commanding figure in the middle.

02 Sep 2018 14:41:07
We got beat 5 nil last year but somehow today is the most embarrassing performance you've seen? Get a grip.

02 Sep 2018 14:04:08
Well it should have been 3 or 4 - 0. Midfield tactics were all messed up and ended up starving Morelos and Lafferty for most of the game. Kent and Ejaria really struggle to defend and get on the wrong side often. Not a lot of play up the middle for either team, but Celtic's wingers dominated our wingers. Candeias made a difference but it was too little too late at that point. Ref didn't help the cause much either, missing the foul on Jack and calling Goldson on christie. With the exception of Tavernier (who stunk) the players who struggled were new to this match playing an experienced Celtic team who knew what this was all about. Our goalie was fantastic today again btw. Might be the best signing out of all of them.

02 Sep 2018 14:39:03
Jack neeeded to be stronger in the challenge brushed off the ball and your clutching at straws if you think that’s was a talking point.

02 Sep 2018 16:46:48
The foul on Jack is a talking point. Rangers were called for 8-10 ten of these types of "tackles" All were soft but the ref has set the precedence that he is calling them and then he didn't.

02 Sep 2018 14:01:19
If we take away qualifying for Europe we have made our worst start to a season in years 5 point from 12
Hearts 12 from 12
Celtic 7 from 12. Stevie g will get it right but we are expecting too much too soon. going to be a T least a couple of years before we are properly challenging. Mcgregor was awesome today but the midfield was non existent and no service to front 2. A good Europe a run win a cup and 2nd is the absolute best this year.

02 Sep 2018 14:19:12
Excellent point, I said similar, 7 points behind Hearts, 4 behind that mob, and only beat St Mirren (who everyone will beat) .

02 Sep 2018 14:39:46
Celtic have 9 out of 12.

02 Sep 2018 14:01:02
Despite the optimism surrounding qualifying for Europa league, let's look at the big picture. Thought we were terrible today, don't know what the tactics were. We're now mid table, 7 points behind hearts, 4 behind that mob. We've only managed to beat St Mirren and let's face it everyone will beat them. Drew with the sheep, drew with Motherwell (and we should have lost that) and beat today. We need to go on a run otherwise let's stop all this talk about 55. Probably feeling gutted and emotional after another defeat but what was SG gameplan today?

02 Sep 2018 13:58:05
Hmmmmmmmm.
Not a fan of SG's tactics today
However the obvious improvement in team this season would suggest he'll learn from it.

02 Sep 2018 13:57:02
Sadly I can have no complaints about the result. Despite all their possession we restricted them to few proper chances but we were so poor when we had the ball. Too many players wanting too much time and so many wayward passes and crosses. Disappointing to see ejaria letting ntcham jog past him. We're closer than last season but desperately need a win at ibrox now.

02 Sep 2018 13:55:33
sorry stevie but your tactics and team selection were all amiss. morelos off middleton on and lafferty in the striker role at 50 minutes. but no-and we lose.

02 Sep 2018 21:41:16
Deecee I am sure I read you on another thread sticking up for Stevie. are there two of you or have you a split personality?

02 Sep 2018 13:55:19
Didn't play well. McGregor was world class. Players looked very tired. We can't win every single game this season and it was after all only 1-0 in the end. Winnable games coming up and we must stay positive. Defenders were excellent. We made them look better than they are and the referee was shocking, didn't give us anything.

02 Sep 2018 13:54:17
I'd prefer to get beat 5nil and actually have ago, that was shocking Ejaria and Kent atrocious, McGregor and defenders done well. midfield and forwards were terrible.

02 Sep 2018 13:46:28
I'm going to give gers excuses for very poor performance today. Perhaps Europe midweek and playing in front us 900 fans having adverse effect.

02 Sep 2018 13:55:12
Listen if u look at league table us getting into Europe has had a huge effect on our league performance. I'm sure however it will iron itself out. I'm sure of that now qualifiers in quick succession are over .

02 Sep 2018 13:56:26
Well that never panned out very poor got battered really lucky to get away with 1-0 hopefully they were tired and we can put them under some pressure next time should’ve been 3 to 4 nil really think we all expected better dissapointing.

02 Sep 2018 14:02:44
Im going to be the opposite. Celtic dominated hence the win. Now i have said this on here many times and got a lot of disagrees and i'm going to say it again, Tav cannot defend and also today his distributions were woeful. To all those who hit disagree, can you explain to me why you think Tav is a right back?

02 Sep 2018 14:04:39
Sorry not having it we were 2nd best in everything we done don't recall winning any 50/ 50 couldn't keep possession couldn't pass to a team mate at one point it showed we had 0% possession for 10 mins in their half scandalous state that one looks like we've miles to go what a reality check this was today.

02 Sep 2018 14:05:02
Yeah will cut them a bit of slack but that was dreadful and the boss should have changed things at half time!
Hated every minute of that game and we can’t blame the ref as we were shocking and embarrassing.

02 Sep 2018 14:08:26
Too many poor passes and bad control nothing to do with travel. Midfield was really poor people on here slaughter Dorrans but Arfield doesn’t look much of an improvement. Game went by Ejaria and Jack very ordinary. Yet again Brown strolls through the game.

02 Sep 2018 14:08:29
we’re going to be playing midweek for the foreseeable future MBW so that’s going to be an issue for us

playing thurs night then going to easter rd and tynecastle on a sun with heavy legs when they are fresh is where we are.

02 Sep 2018 13:44:29
Ref has not given us any freekicks in the attacking half!

02 Sep 2018 14:06:29
You can’t blame the ref for that performance.

02 Sep 2018 13:35:38
Not one player showed up today. Well McGregor did. The rest played dreadful should be ashamed of them self!

02 Sep 2018 13:57:31
Folks get behind the team and gerrard, we are improving.

02 Sep 2018 14:07:16
I, and McGregor should have been sent aff😭😭.

02 Sep 2018 14:09:37
Not sure if that was Thursday catching up with them, but they out muscled us again really. Worst I have seen so far under Gerrard, not helped by every 50/ 50 challenge being a celtic free kick. Can see why killie were upset by collum last week. Outrageous dive for that free kick they nearly scored from. At least we have the international break now to re-group. I noticed celtic were like the sheep and motherwell at the end, celebrating like they'd won the league!

02 Sep 2018 13:35:19
make a change ---.

02 Sep 2018 13:34:58
Ejaria no where near good enough at this level. Similar to the boy Goss last year not got the heart. Sadly Arfield is the same. Hopefully we get Davies in January.

02 Sep 2018 13:58:57
Arfield covered every blade of grass, we were way to deep first half.

02 Sep 2018 14:00:39
Get a grip of yourself! Of course it wasn't a good enough performance but we are still very much a work in progress, under steven gerrard! Our turnover of players would tell you that! The team has been thrown together very quickly remember! Honestly I knew this would happen with some of our fans, if we had a bad performance and lost today!

02 Sep 2018 14:03:00
Nonsense.

02 Sep 2018 14:04:06
Ohh here we go again Abody is mince! This is a team in progress The team of last year would've been beat about 5-0 again

McGregor was outstanding today and we need to build around him

The back line was decent Lost out in midfield too often and simply couldn't get the ball up to our forwards

In the first half from about the 27th minute we sat in too deep and invited Celtic to play futba!

02 Sep 2018 14:07:19
😂😂 new this was coming.

Good enough for a 4 year extension at Liverpool but not for the SPFL.

Absolutely clueless doesn’t even cover it with you.

02 Sep 2018 21:39:02
If you watched the game and think he's good enough you must be seeing something I don't. I remember Ian Ferguson and Ian Durrant ejaria could lace eithers boots. Fact!

02 Sep 2018 13:23:48
Tav is mince.

02 Sep 2018 13:28:44
Think Tav doing OK. My biggest worry is Kent who's having stinker.

02 Sep 2018 13:31:30
Jack that sold the goal. Bottled the header.

02 Sep 2018 13:37:09
MBW was not meaning today speifically but goal came from his zone -I know Kent and Jack ballsed up
Flanagan must be better option.

02 Sep 2018 13:45:27
He is an awful, awful player. Just because he can cross a ball does not make him a footballer.

02 Sep 2018 14:05:49
He makes one good cross out of 10. Every other is eithet overhit or can't beat the first man.

02 Sep 2018 14:09:07
Embarrassing, pathetic, weak, uninspired and scared. That sums up what I just watched. The first half is prob the worst performance I have witnessed from a Rangers team. They were happy to give up possession and defend from the 18 yard line from the word go. I would have accepted a 1 nil defeat if we were competative but Celtic had won that game before a ball was kicked.

02 Sep 2018 13:20:13
These tactics have been embarrassing today. I expected more positivity from Gerrard.

02 Sep 2018 13:23:40
Terrible performance so far.

02 Sep 2018 13:12:07
50 mins for 1st corner? Ominous or what?

02 Sep 2018 13:09:56
Shagger is a god for that save.

02 Sep 2018 12:55:59
This has been really poor. Need energy in that midfield.

02 Sep 2018 12:55:55
Hope gers change something second half. Not personnel but tactics. Need to play passing midfield forward to Fredo. Hasn't been seen yet.

02 Sep 2018 12:52:23
Breathe for 15 mins.

02 Sep 2018 12:51:41
We look poor and very tired, showed them too much respect first half, should take of ejaria and Kent. Replace with candaes and my Middleton or Halliday.
I honk Thursday has taken more out of us than I thought.

02 Sep 2018 12:54:50
Glad you're not the manager.

02 Sep 2018 12:55:55
cant get our foot on the ball, living dangerously. i agree needs some fresh legs.

02 Sep 2018 12:48:15
Very nervous with our tactics, I know Walter used to sit back and hit them on the counter but we're riding our luck here.

02 Sep 2018 12:54:12
Hoping this is rope a dope tactics. If not I wish it was full time! I have a sneaky feeling Stevie will change the shape and get us in their faces. Peanut having it far too easy st the moment.

02 Sep 2018 12:43:36
Don't understand SG tactics yet. Midfield totally surpassed. We're getting humped by nothing. Only Gers player in it Goldson. Want to say I was part of 900 to see gers victory at piggery.

02 Sep 2018 12:34:42
Allan what's with the kicking lucky it never got seen we need 11 players on the field.

02 Sep 2018 12:59:17
What about the ajers knee in his back?

02 Sep 2018 13:04:18
Am no caring if Ajers get sent off but am no wanting Allan getting sent off.

02 Sep 2018 12:24:40
Hope ryan kent scores if he does it will be a beauty! !

02 Sep 2018 11:34:51
I've been nervous for two days now! When I see their lineup they are strong. Defence is the weakness. I hope the wee man breaks his duck.

02 Sep 2018 11:33:11
butterflies have started in the gut lol hope scotty arfield has his best game for the gers today need all starting 11 to be at there best and any of the subs who come on play there part celtic have put a strong team out but i think we can do them.

02 Sep 2018 11:51:25
I’ve got Arfield to score today.

02 Sep 2018 11:28:13
Good luck Rangers. Let's go for the jugular and get that win and make sure we keep 11 players on the park. I got 9/ 2 at the bookies this morning and am going for a Rangers win, 2-0 or 2-1. I see Lafferty is starting but no Couilbally.

Premier League Previews 2 September 2018

{Ed's Note - Reid the Red has posted a new article entitled, Premier League Previews 2 September 2018

02 Sep 2018 11:09:07
Rangers line up

McGreggor;
Tavernier, Goldson, Katic, Barisic;

Kent, Jack, Ejaria, Arfield;

Lafferty and Morelos.

I expect either a 4-4-2 with Arfield tucking in on the left and allowing Barisic free reign or 4-5-1 with Lafferty in an advanced position on the left.

Come on Rangers!

02 Sep 2018 11:49:58
Morelos needs to keep the head.

02 Sep 2018 10:54:31
Cmon the bears. Absolutely buzzing for this game today.

02 Sep 2018 11:09:11
First time I've honestly looked forward to an OF game in years.

Realistically, I'll go for 2-2 which wouldn't be a bad result after the trip to Russia. Celtic very mediocre all season so far and with the loss of Dembele that isn't about to change any time soon so no excuses.

02 Sep 2018 10:13:08
Morning everyone, best of luck Rangers for today, let's hope the breaks go our way and we can come out on top. Please everyone involved put in a performance no hiding. We are Rangers super Rangers. c'mon us.

02 Sep 2018 09:54:47
Glad that none of our players have came out in press with stupid statements before the game.

02 Sep 2018 11:42:58
I heard gerrard warned no talking to press before game.

02 Sep 2018 09:52:34
Gordon Strachan saying Rangers should be preparing to join a 2 tier European league sometime over the next decade! I’m not saying this is a definite thing, but what’s our thoughts on joining it if it did?

02 Sep 2018 11:54:13
What the f**k has Strachan got to do with The Rangers?

02 Sep 2018 09:52:31
If we get five goals in front, before we get a man sent off, would you prefer us to defend that lead or go for more goals?

02 Sep 2018 08:53:44
SG has just shown us how he feels about Morelos by signing him up until 2022.

Hopefully all you fifa managers out there with opinions will now get behind the player and support him through good and bad days.

If he continues to develop he will be our £20m player in 18 months.

Would be nice to see a quick return on investment today - Morelos hatrick would work for me.

02 Sep 2018 10:56:15
Would be nice to see him last 90mins. Guaranteed they will be winding him up. Mon the Bears. Let's Go!

02 Sep 2018 08:35:52
It's here, crunch day! I have seen every hour on the clock through the night, couldn't sleep, come on kick off, let's be having you 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

02 Sep 2018 08:27:51
As much as I hope I'm wrong I still think that mob r still a bit 2 strong for us at the mom and a great result will be getting a draw.
Our team is still gelling and as yet SG IMO still is unsure of our best system. Last week scared me with playing 3 at the back as Motherwell pumped us in the second half and they don't have the quality up front that this mob have.
Also our boys have just came back from a 5000 mile round trip and a game that we played with 9 men.

I just hope SG sticks to the 442 or 4411 system as I believe at the mom that's when we have played our best football.

Just a wee note to the 800 be safe and sing your hearts out show our hero's and warriers what the fighting for loud n proud.

02 Sep 2018 11:32:27
im not sure they are, for example who in their team would you rather was in ours. one or two maybe but i can't think much more than that.

02 Sep 2018 07:05:46
Wide awake and buzzing for this game. Early goal and that rubbish will crumble let's do this rangers #letsgo #gerrard.

02 Sep 2018 08:06:06
Yup my boy woke me up at 6 and I have been nervous, buzzing, scared, excited, worried, confident now I am just tired lol.

02 Sep 2018 09:49:34
Yep agree scott
All guns blazing from the start
Mon gers.

Review Of The Day 2nd September 2018

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 2nd September 2018

02 Sep 2018 06:17:33
Speaking to a Leicester City supporting friend yesterday - lives in Scotland but from Leicester and travels down maybe half a dozen times a season.

I asked him if Benkovic is a tasty player. He looked at me, puzzled.

Not only had he never seen him play (obviously, as he's not kicked a ball for them) but he had never heard of him.

02 Sep 2018 07:22:50
They only bought him this summer i think?

02 Sep 2018 07:28:55
Neither have I
Who is this benkovic?

02 Sep 2018 08:35:20
Has this anything to do with Rangers as I've never heard of Benkovic?

{Ed001's Note - he is very highly rated, Celtic tried to sign him but he chose to go to Leicester, but I think they just signed him on loan anyway. That's if I am remembering correctly, there were a lot of moves to keep track of on deadline day!}

02 Sep 2018 09:38:32
More point who cares who he is, it's all about the famous.

02 Sep 2018 10:43:28
Probably says more about your mate as a Leicester fan than it does benkovic that he doesn't know of a player his team supposedly paid £13m for regardless if he's rubbish or not.

02 Sep 2018 04:59:29
I think we can get a result today and if we can snatch a win it will be a defining moment for the league that the competitiveness between the big two is back.

My one gripe over the past few years is when we allow them to keep the ball and pass between their midfield and defence letting them control the game. I hope Gerrard tells the midfield, wingers, strikers and full backs to hassle them into making mistakes as they play far too many pointless passes.

0-2 Rangers, Morelos to break his duck and big Goldson or Katic to smash one home from a corner. Bring it on!

02 Sep 2018 05:23:16
This game has been hyped up so much part of me expects it to be a total flop 1 all draw or something but hey, I'll happily take that, any points we can get from the piggery is great for us especially considering our trip to the middle of nowhere in Russia.

Still hoping for a win though, don't care how or by how much, beating them would be amazing.

I wonder if Grezda will be thrown in as an unknown wildcard as they won't know anything about what to expect from him.

This is the first time I've been excited about an Old Firm game in years, usually I'm bricking it or thinking "here we go again" but this time I genuinely believe we'll get something out of it.

02 Sep 2018 06:48:08
Poseidon, i feel the same mate 0-2 Rangers.

02 Sep 2018 10:25:10
F-U, I don’t think grezda has played since may so can’t see it happening!

02 Sep 2018 02:19:11
Still disappointed Bates left Gerrard could of made a player of him Bates was a good player in a bad team last year the boy had something hope Rudden gets good game time he is another who has a bit about him from what we seen in pre season if Rangers nurture Milldleton carefully there's a superstar in there I suggest don't over hype him he will come good I'll put my neck out and say Middleton is a regular come January.

02 Sep 2018 04:52:13
Not sure about Middleton being a regular come January, he seemed like a deer in headlights during the Motherwell game when he came on. I agree that these kids do have something about them and have to be nurtured gradually into the side.

Let’s see how Sadiq goes when he is fit but if he doesn’t seem to be adding much to the team I’d rather see Rudden get a run out at the tail end of games to offer Morelos and Laff a rest.

02 Sep 2018 05:26:29
I think our problem in the past when we had a really good young player was just seeing they were good enough and then making them a 1st team regular right away, a lot of our good youngsters in the past started off fantastic then faded away and moved on.

I'd much rather see Middleton get the odd game and sub appearance here and there until the coaches think he's ready than just throw him in at the deep end and hope he doesn't sink.

02 Sep 2018 08:11:19
I think part of the problem is that we aren't getting ourselves into the position in games, say an hour gone still battling to win the match, if you find yourself 3 nil up or something you can chuck a couple of lads on but we just aren't affording ourselves the luxury right now, maybe if we start keeping 11 on the park those opportunities will arise.

02 Sep 2018 08:26:59
Ridden went on a 6 month loan to Falkirk yesterday.

02 Sep 2018 01:31:57
Go to the piggery and be positive and use venomous atmosphere to our advantage! If we play to our capability I honestly believe we could do then! 🇬🇧 Good luck lads.

02 Sep 2018 04:53:35
Yately no doubt about it, these guys are scared of what the club has achieved in such a short space of time. Get in their faces from the first whistle and let them know they are in a contest!

01 Sep 2018 23:29:14
Does anyone know where Dorrans is in his return from injury?

02 Sep 2018 03:04:11
Im not that concerned about Dorrans, he's mince!

02 Sep 2018 04:54:45
Personally I’d like to see the club pay him and Rossiter off. Both are picking up decent wages and are injured constantly. When they have had opportunities to start they haven’t offered much in my opinion.

02 Sep 2018 07:58:40
I’d like to know what the position is on Dorrans and Rossiter injuries as both players when fit again have something to offer to the team at the min they would both struggle to get into the starting 11. I wouldn’t be paying them off just yet I think in the case of Dorrans he showed some good form in the early stages of his rangers career didn’t make an impact in Celtic games as had to play in a deeper role that didn’t suit his game with no jack beside him. We are now all seeing how good a player Jack is. Dorrans I believe came back too early from injury last year and lacked fitness and everyone seems to be judging him on that form. I hope he can come back and be a good player for rangers as I still believe fit and under Gerrard he has something to offer.

Rossiter is still a bit of an unknown and there has to be a question mark over his fitness it’s such a shame as he clearly has a great attitude and there is a great players there if we can get him fit. I think if he doesn’t regain fitness this season then a parting of the ways might be in the best interests for both parties although I hope he can play for us as he has the potential to be a great player under SG.

02 Sep 2018 10:21:40
Dorrans won't play again this year from what I'm hearing.

01 Sep 2018 23:28:23
Following the news Fredo has signed a new contract, and the managers view that the best is yet to come. I totally buy that girls and boys. Discipline is an issue but by eck, the boy is class. Punctuation is a bit of a miss due to excessive alcohol consumption, sorry. Mon The Bears.

02 Sep 2018 03:16:56
I hope your right VD, but will reserve judgement until I see SG parade him at Murray Park.
