Mackail Smith would love to think so but no way.
Who keeps saying 3ml for Edu, they are obviously on something

Sky Sports news on Sky channel 405, says that two Premier League clubs have made bids for Craig Mackail-Smith. Any slim chance we had of getting him should be all but dead now, I think.

Not too sure about the lad Vaughan from Blackpool, I would rather see our young lad Jamie Ness get a run in the side with davis and mcCulloch in there we are covered in the centre. Edu started to pick his game up in the last few games but still doesn't do enough for me. Hopefully he can go away over the summer and come back with a bit more purpose.

Think we should be looking at signing a couple of wide players, Greg Wylde has done well but think needs a little help. Should look at the Serbian winger Tudic, playing with Groningen in Holland, whips in great crosses which Jelavic would thrive on.

heres a few names that have been coming my way off of an inside source

James mcfadden
mathew gilks (if mcgregor goes)
david vaughan
joey o'brien
john pantsil
patrick viera ** watch this one
abdoulaye faye
victor obina
jay bothroyd
aron gunnarsson
gareth mcauley
robert earnshaw
herman hreidarsson
david nugent
danny Shittu
brynjar gunnarsson

all of these player are within our wage budget (except viera) and are all on bosman deals :)
as my source told me that ally doesn't want to spend much money in the summer unless the player is value for the money so expect a good few bosman deals and goodwillie for 2.2 million

Utter pi@h mate! None of these players will play for the Rangers next season. .

Gareth Mcauley signed for West Brom as stated before and also Abdoulaye Faye has been at rangers before and was an embarrassment.

Ian Durrant is away to see an argentinain player, don't know who or where but he is definetly away today. Believe it or not, he drinks in the district bar everyday and my brother was speaking to him yesterday.

He also said David Vaughen's agent is having talks with McCoist on Wednesday but he has got offers from Sunderland and West Brom

Could b the striker from Leeds boicha or whatever his name is

Any truth to any of theses rumours ed?!

{Ed010's Note - I am left scratching my head trying to work out whether you are referring to a particular rumour or set of rumours or just all rumours in general. Fortunately, the answer to both scenarios, is exactly the same.

I have absolutely and positively, no magic formula for working out which rumours are true and which are false. Like yourself, I may have opinions on the validity of them but that is all they are, opinions.

Which rumours to linked players do you think are nearer to the mark ?

Why r people saying our goalkeeper is villa bound when he ain't unless they offer £15m. He said live on tv he wants to stay. Miller is not going to the worst club that is Celtic when he stated he wants to come home to rangers. Diouf wants to stay at rangers

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
1st of all McGregor 15 mil?????? are u having a laugh pal what are you smoking coz i want some

and 2nd diouf is rank rotten done hee haw when he was here an i pray we don't want him a waste of space he is bit like u

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Come on, you got to admit the hadj has got a bit of something about him. The way that he gets brought on to sit in the middle hold the ball up and basically calm things down proves that. Do I think he is a great signing, no. Do I think he is the worst, no. He can still do a job. Plus the Celtic hate him.

Oranjeboom

Agree0 Disagree0

We shdnt sign a guy just coz celtic hate i am a gers fan and i hate he has done nothing at gers since he has been here he never goes forward as he has no pace an always cuts back

Agree1 Disagree0

Was initially happy to welcome Diouf to the Gers in the transfer window as I thought he would be ideal to play upfront on his own when we were in europe but after watching him you could tell his legs and pace had gone unfortunately. Although very comfortable on the ball, I think he slows the game down too much and I rather we spent the little money we have available on someone who could inject a little craft into the side and help take the weight off Jelavic's shoulders.

I'm getting a little sick of us being "rumoured" to be interested in average players in their 30's who I don't believe could bring much to the team. I would much rather see Murray Park graduates such as Cole, Ness, Hutton, Wylde and let's not forget Fleck get prolonged runs in the team under Coisty than buy below average Premiership players who will come up and do a job maybe for two years but then leave. Those two years could be spent nurturing these young talents. . instead of letting them rot on the bench and become disgruntled with life at Ibrox, move on and become stars elsewhere! i.e Charlie Adam, Chris Burke and to an extent Ross McCormack. What do you think ed?

Steven

{Ed010's Note - Ed010's Note -Steven, I understand your concerns but remember, Ally McCoist and his team will never, ever listen to rumours and speculation that appears on any website, including this one or any conversations between mates, over a cold beer. Rumours are just that, they are rumours which on some occasions can be quite close to the mark but in the vast majority of cases, so far off that it is laughable.

Your second point is admirable but again is based on the assumption that the rumours are true or could be true. Ally McCoist is Rangers through and through and will be working hard behind the scenes, to secure the services of players that he believes will do a job for him and Rangers. Once he has these players signed up, they will be paraded as Rangers players and then, we will all see the standard of player and perhaps then address, whether they are any better or any worse than the young players we already have on our books.

Ultimately Steven, Ally McCoist will initially be judged on the quality of his signings, even before a ball is kicked in earnest and he won't want to leyt anyone down, especially the Rangers support.

Cheers for your reply ed, very valid points you've made.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
"not once has rangers said". .should read "not once HAVE Rangers said" but nevermind. The management had a meeting with the scouts Neil Murray and John Brown on Friday during which they identified their main targets. David Vaughan was ruled out at that point, however they have a list of players and between 5 and 8 players will be coming in, 5 being the minimum. Anton Ferdinand is one of the major names on this list, the others I have no idea but what I do know is that there are no ex-Rangers being targeted.

Diouf is not required at Rangers next season, and £15m for McGregor is a joke, if there was a serious offer of £7.5m to £10m with ''extras'' he would go. Rangers need the money, as £25m over 5 years aint a lot. And Alexander is a more than ample replacement, as he showed in the few games he played

Target: Diouf West Ham are considering a free transfer move for Blackburn striker El-Hadji Diouf and are pressing ahead with bids for Hoffenheim's Demba Ba and Tottenham's Robbie Keane. West Brom and Stoke remain interested in Ba, 25, but his failure to pass a medical at Stoke has opened the possibility of a loan deal. That would free up funds for a bid for Keane while Diouf, 30, would be brought in for nothing with Blackburn having agreed to let him go. Tottenham have rebuffed loan bids for Keane and want £6m. What mince you guys talk, for a start Lawwell is on £700000 plus, you only need to search it online and will show in various websites. As for Cuellar we payed 2.4m and got 7.8. Not many players go for more in Scotland. As for contract negotiators you are right, there are a few but how many with the contacts and relationships with other clubs that Bain has. The only reason he is out is because he objected to the take over.

ed do u know much about the 19 year old twins we have signed from man city couldnt find much cept that it said they were making massive progress towards becomig first team players for man city

{Ed010's Note -I don't know if I can help you with to much more but here is what I know. Tom and Kim Skogsrud are 18 year old Norwegian twins who both play in defence. Tom is a left back and Kim is a centre back and both signed for Man City as 15 year olds after having trials there. They have now signed 2 year deals with Rangers and will be playing with the Under 19's initially but obviously want to break into our first team. I can't find anything about them being ready to break into the City first team but I really can't see that being the case, otherwise Man City wouldn't have let them go.

{Ed010's Note -Nothing new so far on Ivan Trickovski. I do know that Lokeren (BEL) made a bid of £1m in January of this year but was rejected by Apoel, so if Rangers are interested, it is going to take more than that to secure him. I also agree with you that Trickovski looks a player.

For my final stab at this for today Im thinking that in the absence of Martin Bain the transfer dealings could have a very different dynamic to them now.It will depend much upon who is doing the deals. martin god bless him was very tight at times but they did waste money too. the last being in james Beattie. no argument there I, d say. but can they get some of that money back?and who would be doing the dealing? Mr Whyte, Mr wrong or Mr right. .I think its unlikely that Martin Bain will be that man ! so speculation on that question will go on unless the chairman comes out with the answers and soon so we can all get a handle on whats going on and it might boost his season ticket sales if he comes up with the right answers! not only for the club but the paying fans as well not to mention the morale of the players and the vibe they give to prospective signings and of course their agents so I would say that was one of the most important issues around at the moment, the title and cup win were good but that won't keep the masses happy for long Mr Whyte but Im sure you will know that so how about it ! see if you can cheer us up so we can then embrace the changes that you spoke of properly and let us understand where you stand sir. .

With rumours of Phil Bardsley and Lee Martin kicking about, do you think they could make an Ibrox return, previously playing for PLG. Both players could add something to the team, and this could be one of the more realistic moves so far.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Lee martin is a bad bad player why would we want him

K

Agree7 Disagree2

Ans Steven Whittaker is head and shoulders above Bardsley.Did Bardsley score into double digits the last time he was here?Or set up as many goals for others than him?Or stop as many goals going in?I do not think so.Bardsley is well over rated. All he has is pace.

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't agree with whittaker being better bardsley by far the better defender would rather see whittaker in midfield an the reason he has scored as many is coz he takes pens an that's the only reason

K

Agree1 Disagree0

He never took pens when Boyd was here, and he was doing that then.Out scoring Bardsley all the time. And was not always in midfield. In fact he was mainly at right back sometimes left back.He is a better player than Bardsley. When did you see Bardsley go score a super solo effort like against Sporting? It does not happen, the only goals he gets is the odd hammered blasted shot about 3 times a year if he has had a good season.Whittaker has far more skill to.

craig mackial smith is still contracted to peterbrough as it said it during the build up to the league 1 play off final on sky sports. The chairman said that he would only be allowed to go to a bigger club but its still down to the manager.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Ur right mate boro have said they won't stand in his way if a club comes in for him FACT

Agree0 Disagree0

Barry Fry (chairman of Peterborough) was interviewed on Sky Sports earlier and mentioned that both Craig Mackail Smith and George Boyd were kept at the the club for one more year to try to get them back into the championship. Now with them getting promotion he would honour their wishes to allow them to leave to whichever club gave them the best offer. He then went on to mention that a pre season friendly with Glasgow Rangers to be announced later. Maybe putting two and two together here. . but would this be part of a sweetener to fix a deal with the club for CMS??? If he was to transfer to the Gers this would surely give him greater exposure and a better chance of securing a starting role in the Scotland team.

Agree1 Disagree2

Do you belive that Wylde is good enough to be in the first eleven every week? For me he shows potential but at the moment all he does is punt the ball by a player chase it and put a cross in. I also noticed that he was getting substituted a lot early on in matches indicating Walter was also not as impressed. I'm not saying he is bad, but in the SPL the other teams play deep where there is very little room in behind for him, he hasn't got the skill to pass players just the pace. Also he is awful defensively. He is one for the future, maybe as second choice next season but certainly not first choice.

I wonder who will get the sack this week guys?Ive heard some bookmakers are doing a thing on that one! In the aftermath of the takeover and walter leaving and all that's going on , Im starting to wonder about next season ?I don't think it looks as promising as we were hoping for! mind you if the players stay and we add a very good centre-back even if one or two players move on providing (mr mcoist) gets whatever is generated by the sales of players Im sure we can cover ourselves well enough to win the title again and with no debt as such the european cup money that could be brought in will help a lot in getting good players to come, My fear is Mr whyte seems to be a bit of a handful at the moment and I only hope he does, nt try to tie the managers hands too tight because we know that would, nt help things on the park. after all its what happens there that counts. As for the bigotry issue we should all know what is required there!.We know in reality that you can gag people with threats of prosecution etc but you can't stop people feeling the way they do about certain things and these issues have always been part of our culture and it will stay that way on both sides of that divide unfortunately.

ed wot do u think rangers need to bring in

{Ed010's Note -In my opinion, we need at least 2 defenders, 2 quality midfielders, a striker and someone on the right wing with a bit of pace.
I think that is the bare minimum that Ally will bring in. Over the last couple of seasons, we have really struggled in the midfield area, there is no one really, with the possible exception of Davis, who can hold the ball up and who is also capable of delivering a defence spliting pass.

What positions do you guys want or see Ally strengthening this summer ?
I am not asking for names in this one, just the positions please. Cheers Ed10

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I would like to see Ally bring in
GK, LB (Papac to CB), RB, CDM, CM, RM/W, ST.

I believe McGregor won't last long, with Alexander stepping in, we need a quality no. 13. 2 decent wing backs with pace and creation should be sought with atleast one centre mid playmaker bieng brought in. A flyer on the right is essential to provide Jelavic and a secondary striker to compliment him. With Lafferty's recent run of good form hoprfully shop windowing him for a potential return to england (prem)

Agree1 Disagree0

Am thinking an attacker 2 midfeild n if weir n bouggy leave then 2 decent cbs n mabee 1 for the bench as a said earlyer we should get down league 1 n 2 coz in my opinian there sum great bargains to b had but at the end of the day super ally noes more bout wot he want than me so on that note in ally I trust

I think Rangers should sign Granqvist from Groningen in Holland. Looks like an ideal replacement for the departing Madjid Bougherra. For me personally, I think its the right time for Davie Weir to retire and John Mensah would be perfect to replace him.

In midfield, I'd like to see Conway come in, even as a backup I think he'd be a decent player to have. What about Seb Larsson, linked with Blackburn, Newcastle, Sunderland who are in the EPL but Rangers can use European Football as bait. I think he'd be good for us.

Upfront, I think Super Ally should use most of his kitty to lure Makail-Smith from Peterbrough. Alongside Big Jelavic they'd be deadly. If we can't get him then Goodwillie would be my 2nd choice.

What do you Teddy Bears think? {Ed001's Note - isn't Mensah very injury prone?}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Mensah not good enough an injury prone

and seb larsson was meant to sign for newcastle in jan but couldnt afford 6ok a week so where are we gona get that sort of money from ??????

WHY??? would we want Leigh Griffiths lol no chance! Guys Rangers will sign players from abroad or teams relegated from EPL as no one else want to leave the premiership for the spl unless they are not wanted! ! I think Diouf will come and maybe 1 or 2 loan signings but any new Rangers will be from abroad or already playing in Scotland.

Because he is a young scot who could do a good job for rangers in the spl. .and wolves would prefer him to go out on loan than play for the reserves the now. diouf is pish! and is 30 now we need to start to get the young players in that have a future! Griffiths is that and has shown at under 21 level for scotland and scotland b squad!

hullo hullo bears, anyone know if neil murrary or bomber brown will be watching the euro under 21 championship this summer? ed? i think we should have scouts there looking at players before they are worth tens of millions. p.s.just seen a young guy in the denmark squad called laudrup! he coudnt be a bad place to start lol

{Ed010's Note -I have no doubt that every club will be watching the competition and whether that will be in person or on the TV, is anyone's guess.

Nathan Tyson has rejected a new contract at Nottm. Forest and has narrowed other interest in him down to 4 clubs, from the premiership, championship & the SPL.

Source: Nottingham Evening Post.

If he comes to SPL then its obviously to us or Celtic, hope its us as for a free transfer would be a good signing. Scores goals & has pace to burn. What do you think ed?

{Ed010's Note -I reckon he would be a good signing but whether he would be a first team regular would be another matter all together. The one thing that is apparent in modern day football, is that any player with searing pace, is always an asset and Tyson would be no exception.

I would be very surprised if Ally brought Kenny miller back, and here are my 5 reasons why.

1. Rangers would have to pay a fee.

2. He would be on good wages.

3. He is 31, so paying fee, good wages at his age na.

4. The form and link up play of Jelavic, Lafferty, and Naismith in the run in.

5.Rangers need a tall striker, who is good in the air to give us a different option.
I no lie.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

They already have 2 tall strikers in Jelavic and Lafferty, what they need up front is pace, to link up with big Jela. Although I wouldn't take Miller back myself, I think it's time we tried someone else.
Ger93

Agree1 Disagree0

Mate miller and Jelly were a good partnership. IMO i would take miller back as long as his wages were about 15k pw and we paid no more that they did for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Jelavic is great in the air so don't know what ur talking about its pace we need an miller has it wid take him back in a heartbeat we didn't get to see much of them 2gether coz of injuries but they will score close to 50 if not more between them lafferty has height but can't head the ball

Just a thought in terms of short term cover for the left back position. Gregory Vignal (who spent a season on loan at Ibrox from Liverpool in 04/05) is without a club. Always thought he was a good player up here, and had an excellent delivery. Can also play centre or left midfield. Any thoughts on Vignal as a squad player ed?

{Ed010's Note -I personally don't like the idea of bringing back "old" players, so that would have to include Vignal. I concede that he may do a job for us but I would much prefer Ally to bring in fresh blood.

If David Vaughan Dosen't want to sign for the champions of scotland Rangers. So what i want people with ambition not fighting relegation with sunderland who are in freefall. Not players who think picking up mega wages and EPL staus represent a good football career. A winner would choose champions league football and who realises that rangers and celtic are massive football clubs with huge fanbase and worldwide status and if it wasn't for the income the premiership clubs get every club apart from man utd, arsenal, liverpool, chelsea the rest would be in the shadow of rangers and celtic and when are we going to get the respect we deserve for achieving so must with very little money. FROM VERY ANNOYED ABOMB. ALSO KEEP UP THE GOOD FOOTBALL RUMOURS And be nice to Ed who has a great job.

{Ed010's Note - I totally agree with you on everything except that last sentence, this is not a great job lol. Seriously though, I think you are 100% correct and I just love when a player puts the club before money.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Bang on! its a lot like eagles last year, if he doesn't want to come, don't bother! i honestly think now we have more respect in europe from players. just look at jelavic last summer. would vaughn even get a game before mcculloch and davis?

Danny Wilson will be loaned back to Rangers.
David Goodwillie and Craig Conway signed as good as.
Bartley loan extended as well as Healy
Diouff will not stay.
Aberdeen digging thier heels in for Foster - they want to much cash.

Never mind the other chat like Vaughan etc - Rangers will make contact with loads of agents during the transfer window. It does not mean they will sign! Be realistic here if you were offered Premiership wages would you take that over the SPL? Of course you would.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No really mate if i had the choice between any england top flight team and rangers i would pick rangers over n over again but a suppose am a loyal rangers supporter so that may b why but why go somewhere for good wages to b sold when they drop down a league where as at rangers u get cl and fight for top spot almost every season ?????
