Cant believe there's people out there slaughtering Kranjcar's performance against Burnley, 1st of all it was a friendly, secondly he's still not 100% match fit, give the guy time people he will be amazin once he's fully fit, wasnt long ago he was playin against Motherwell and people thought he was a superhero, onwards and upwards People,

31 Jul 2016 23:30:44
mate there are people on here would rather we were shite just so they can moan the best of it is the most of them have probably never kicked a ball themselves just playing with their baws.

01 Aug 2016 00:15:33
Well said Gary.

01 Aug 2016 07:13:19
Gary75

I think most who criticise on here have valid points. Surely you can't be happy with the central defensive partnership and recognise the need for another striker? As for your comment about never having kicked a ball bit of a sweeping statement with no real basis of fact. I take it you had a career as a top player?

01 Aug 2016 13:41:43
I have to say I think niko will prove to be one of our best players him and McKay this season as long as he stays fit!

01 Aug 2016 16:14:27
It's obvious that Krancjar is a superstar but it's also obvious that he is a little bit of a luxury player who happened to be poor in last game. Surely it's fair to criticise a performance of a player when justified?
For the record I think he needs Barton and Rossiter in behind to do the doggy work to let him concentrate on setting up chances and smashing them into top bin from edge of the box, he wasn't the only 1 who was poor in friendly match far from it but it was only a friendly and the right time to get a wee kick up the RS for us and hopefully it helps King to loosen purse strings for a new Centre Half as that has to be the priority.

02 Aug 2016 18:36:38
Agree with benny team is think the hat will go with that.

31 Jul 2016 22:26:13
The club seem to have a good relationship with Burnley, why not use it to get someone in on loan?

Kevin Long and Dan Agyei are being linked with loan deals to the likes of QPR and Coventry City. CB/ ST, 25/ 19, decent ages and could do a job for us going forward.

Surely an offer to come up and compete for the title would be interesting to players like this.

MW seems to be friendly with Sean Dyche. If not these two, maybe they could get someone else on loan from this very talented Premier League side.

31 Jul 2016 22:48:54
Could be a route Warbs goes down but I'm sure its 1 of many clubs he has buit a good relationship with and could get a loanee from; Burnley, Brentford, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool will all be receptive to our enquiries if a particular player becomes available on the loan market I'd imagine.

31 Jul 2016 23:40:36
If he's looking to get a deal before Hamilton you'd imagine it'd be permanent as English clubs are away on pre season with their squads.

Really hope we find out tomorrow if we're close to a deal for a CB. The Clint Hill deal came out of the blue, the next one will too.

01 Aug 2016 13:44:40
I hpe we hear something today about a player and please let it be a stalwart of a centreback.

31 Jul 2016 21:54:37
I think a few people need to calm the hell down not one team in our league are even 1/ 4 as good as Burnley we all knew before the game about our defensive frailties but seems some were clearly blinkered as yesterday seems to have created a vortex of craziness yes we were soundly beaten and yes are defence are still shocking but I still think we have plenty enough to win the league MW said he wants another CB so fingers crossed he will get it done, also for all you bampots saying Barton looked no good, don't know what game you were watching but he was far and away the classiest performer in a blue shirt. Still think we are also desperate for a CF as waggy for me just doesn't cut it scored a shed load last season before injury but for me just doesn't look dangerous enough.

31 Jul 2016 22:29:10
They needed that result yesterday to kick them into gear for the coming season.

The result would've been fine if we actually showed up in the first half and showed some grit and gave Burnley a game of it.

We played them last year and put in a better performance.

01 Aug 2016 07:18:20
Think the issue is that you could see last season that the defence wasn't good enough and was the main area of concern however we are 5 days away from the league season and we still have the same problems. It's clear the Wilson, Kiernan partnership doesn't work and bringing in the 37 year old pace less Hill isn't the answer. Tavernier still can't defend and not only did Burnley expose this Motherwell did too. Only difference is Burnley had the quality to punish us Motherwell didn't. We can't rely on other teams in the premiership being as poor in front of goal as they were.

01 Aug 2016 13:49:34
u know i'd definitely play tav as his assists and goals will help us win the league. all we need to do is get sum1 on the pitch that can cover him when he pushes up but I do agree the three cb's that we have just now have no pace between them and we will need a big no nonsense cb with real pace.

31 Jul 2016 21:22:32
Tyler Blackett joining.

31 Jul 2016 22:10:31
He was guff at Celtic so a hope not.

01 Aug 2016 13:50:27
naw just naw.

31 Jul 2016 21:13:30
just thinking about possible CB what about this player- out of contract, versatile LB or CB decent age 30. Charlie Mulgrew?

31 Jul 2016 21:19:35
He was one of the other lots better defender's. Not for us though!

01 Aug 2016 00:36:39
Decent player and it would really piss them off just like MoJo did!

01 Aug 2016 13:52:22
compared to the players we have now i'd take him in a heartbeat to fill in that cb role ( i'd take effe ambrose right now) lol.

31 Jul 2016 21:03:33
If anyone has kodi the new follow follow add on is quality loads of great stuff on it from past and present.

31 Jul 2016 21:35:32
Ive still got the beast load on it but will have a look mate always good to see better builds.

01 Aug 2016 18:02:44
well done Fergie installed follow follow addon never getfed up watching davie coopers goal against celtic in dryburgh cup.

01 Aug 2016 21:42:31
How do u add it on to your kodi.

31 Jul 2016 20:51:27
Think we need Command CB asap not one for taking old players bk but would give big boogie another go. can't wait to see who this signing is and think we should sign Faissal El Bakhtaoui as back up as I believe he would contribute goals and do a lot better with better service.

31 Jul 2016 21:14:55
They are two signings that are more realistic and both could do a job for us without the club spending on transfers or big wages.

31 Jul 2016 22:14:38
Ppl will say not for me cause he was playing in lower leagues with Dunfermline but Blackburn are having him on trial and I think the championship is a far better standard than spl.

01 Aug 2016 21:53:21
Totally agree about Boogie . free and good in the air and been there before . No risk, also should look to bring another CB in whoever it may be!

01 Aug 2016 22:28:03
Boogie would be my last choice would rather marriapa or another player with that quality but would be tempted into offering boogie a 12 month contract with a further year as he's probably still better than kiernan even at 33 or whatever he is.

31 Jul 2016 20:33:04
Would take McNair. Wilson from Man U would do a do a decent job.

01 Aug 2016 20:58:17
I read McNair is going to the other side on a loan deal not sure if it's going to happen.

01 Aug 2016 22:23:42
Take them both in an instant. The unwashed fancy mcnair apparently but surely we could negotiate a loan deal.

31 Jul 2016 20:30:04
Let's get real we ain't going to sign van Persie still hearing people going bout this after warburton. Just read bout Norwich forward which I think would be plausible if he hadn't signed for another club as he was good at one time but had bad premiership season and I think we should sign Faissal El Bakhtaoui as back up as I believe he is on free and I believe in a better team he would contribute more goals. Think we need CB asap and if fit would have big boogie bk for season.

31 Jul 2016 21:29:21
You not think rvp will still come?

31 Jul 2016 21:30:13
to get a good central defender we will have to splash the cash, either in wages or transfer fee or both but we need at least one CB desperately.

31 Jul 2016 20:25:31
Well I've been 2 petrol station, walked the dog took a few taxi rides and still no credible rumours:)

31 Jul 2016 21:02:24
I've heard from a credible source that the majority of these peoples credible sources are fictional.

31 Jul 2016 20:14:34
Brede Hangeland.

31 Jul 2016 20:06:50
Think that with Ross McCormack heading to Norwich we should perhaps look at getting Cameron Jerome. Good quality striker and a known Rangers fan.

31 Jul 2016 22:39:12
Get lost he's bloody awfull.

31 Jul 2016 18:20:04
With Mariappa not signing for anyone yet and having already been up for talks and a gander at our facilities, I wonder will this be the one MW pushed the boat out for. He has now seen first hand what a descent side will do to our defence and has rightly said another defender should be signed before the league kicks off.

31 Jul 2016 19:10:04
Strongly rumoured he'll be paraded by Leeds United tomorrow so i doubt it.

31 Jul 2016 19:36:53
Oh well. Cheers for the info Laudrup.

31 Jul 2016 22:21:03
No bother thought he wouldve been good myself but not to be.

31 Jul 2016 17:58:24
We have to remember burnley haven't lost a game sine January and are a decent outfit think they will have a good season this year so am not to disheartened by the result think we still need quality centre back McNair on loan would do for me.

31 Jul 2016 20:28:25
Mando7662

Are you not concerned how easily they cut our defence open? As did Motherwell in the cup only difference was Burnley had the quality to score and Motherwell didn't. Can't rely on all teams in the Premiership being that bad in front of goal.

31 Jul 2016 17:56:39
Totally agree great draw would be good to fill ground ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†.

31 Jul 2016 17:29:27
So peterhead at ibrox ill take that, glad to miss some of the trickier ties with respect to peterhead.

31 Jul 2016 17:38:55
Ill also add hope we fill ibrox to help out peterhead, start of a journey so long ago.

31 Jul 2016 18:46:42
We won't fill ibrox for a midweek tie against Peterhead mate just won't happen probs another 30000 like the previous cup games.

31 Jul 2016 16:39:19
HF guys, just fillin ma transit up at hart hill services and saw someone who looked like Jonny Evans in a black merc with a few other guys, wan looked like davie weir in the back. They were trying to keep a low profile but I approached the guy who was paying and getting a few bottles o water and said, it's Jonny signing then. He just laughed and said, watch this space.

31 Jul 2016 16:48:14
The same johnny evans that arsenal are being linked with a 15 million bid for.

31 Jul 2016 16:55:17
I just saw someone who looked like ronaldo, he must be signing as well.

I know this is a rumours site but can we have some proper rumours rather than fantasy.

Evans is on a big wage at westbrom, and is a key player for them. Close to no chance.

{Ed001's Note - this is on banter for a reason, some people really need a sense of humour!}

31 Jul 2016 16:56:06
Arsenal 16 million link today for Jonny Evans.

31 Jul 2016 17:16:22
Im more scared about the cost of your fuel at the services mate, dam its nearly a tenner for a sandwich .
๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

31 Jul 2016 22:13:39
Does he not have a more rubbish brother that looks a bit like him surprisingly.

31 Jul 2016 14:40:13
get a good CH signed and give Tavernier a shot at CF.
Daft idea?

who remembers Derek Parlane or Jimmy Millar or Derek Johnstone?

All were top goal scorers who started out as defenders.

31 Jul 2016 15:43:13
Wee Bill - it's dangerous to drink so much at this time of day! That's kind of idea's that result.

31 Jul 2016 16:20:28
gee thanks mr nice, and here's me a tee totaller lol.

31 Jul 2016 16:57:11
That worries me even more!

Sorry, just having a laugh.

31 Jul 2016 18:14:39
I saw earlier a comment that Wallace is moved to centre back now that we have an adequate replacement to play left back. Although we would lose Wallace ability to overlap we would certainly have his speed to get back into position to defend. That said we would still be severely lacking for defending corners and balls into the box from dead ball situations. It could however be an option short term until we secure a proper top quality centre back. Neither Kiernan or Wilson is good enough and neither of them control the defence. We need a mature centre back that will organise those round him, that can win the ball in the air and that has a bit of bite in their tackles. One other pint on balls into the box, Fotheringham doesn't help matters when he won't come out for cross balls. A goalkeeper should totally dominate their six yard box.

31 Jul 2016 13:33:12
Impossible to say who's starts between Gilks and fodders at the moment.

I have to say that hodson has impressed me more than tav.

Cb so far Wilson would be my first choice. Not saying he's great but with the right partner he can do well. Keirnan is just awful not fit for the Jersey.

Ohallaron I think deserves a run in the team out right. Rossiter should maybe get the nod over niko until nikos fitness improves.

Up top anyone who says dodoo should start before waggy is mental. Dodoo has yet to impress and has a lot to prove yet. Hope he come good until late then he will have to fight for his place.

Yes a cb is a must. I also feel that we need to be realistic and if kyle lafferty is available he should be signed without a doubt.

31 Jul 2016 18:15:39
Kyle Lafferty should be no where near Ibrox.

31 Jul 2016 11:33:38
Only a few positives to take out of that game vs Burnley

Impressed again with Rossiter and on that game it's evident to see that Matt Gilks would be the better option for No.1 choice

Barton was decent with some good passing and breaking up play
Barry McKay was okay, he needs to take his last man on as sometimes hesitates and tracks back the way He's learning

So evident to see Clint Hill is not what we need at the back, far too slow and made a few mistakes!
We badly need a top centre half and god knows who we can play beside him I'd probably go for Keirnen ahead of Wilson

The passing for me was not crisp enough and a few went wayward

Burnley were able to collect the ball from our passing which made life easy It was all too easy! Here's hoping we can fix that problem

First half we were simply played off the park and couldn't get out our half!

31 Jul 2016 11:57:40
There are always positives from any pre season game. The result is meaningless. Even if we'd won 10-0, it'd be forgotten about the day after.

Rossiter has got to start. He's an outstanding young talent and unlike some of the lads we had last year, he isn't on loan.

I think Gilks and Foderingham will be close this year. But MW will stick with Wes, no doubt.

Barton and Kranjcar are the best signings we've made this summer and both have shown their quality already.

McKay is as much a guaranteed starter as anyone in that team and his link up with Wallace is crucial to the forward play.

Hill was never brought in to be the main CB. One more will come in permanently and that'll help.

No doubt we'll beat Hamilton but I'm sure we'll let a goal in at least, maybe two with the defence, so the attackers will have to take their chances better than in previous games.

31 Jul 2016 12:10:49
We were tactically outdone but I disagree with comments about being played off the park! Burnley are set out to be hard to beat and get the ball to the Gray, Vokes etc as quick as possible. We still played better football but without any end product!

31 Jul 2016 12:19:51
If Kenny Miller starts the Hamilton game I'll be astonished, he's been woeful in preseason! Waggy can't play wide right as he's only got a left foot. Personally I don't think he deserves to start at CF either, barely managed to score a penalty and deflected one in other night! Maybe I'm being too harsh but MW needs to follow up the talk about earning the shirt, neither has come close yet. Front three vs Hamilton should be McKay Dodoo O'Halloran. It won't be but at least then we'd cause problems with some pace up there!

31 Jul 2016 12:43:36
RFCinfinity the front 3 you've chosen for the hamilton game isn't a bad shout mate, full of electrifying pace and as we all know pace destroys teams! Good call!

31 Jul 2016 12:52:59
Kenny won't start. He wasn't even a regular starter when we were in the Championship. He got his place because of the injury to Waghorn.

MW isn't going to leave Waghorn out. He's our only recognised goalscorer. Doubt Dodoo will start but MOH could have a chance.

I'd go with

Foderingham

Tavernier, Wilson, Keirnan, Wallace

Kranjcar, Barton, Halliday

Forrester, Waghorn, McKay

I'd have played Windass instead of Andy perhaps but I think that's the team they'll go with.

31 Jul 2016 13:24:59
@Warburton - especially since if Niko does one thing well it's put balls on a sixpence behind defenses and that three would cause a serious threat.

31 Jul 2016 15:10:24
disappointed by result on Sat. but not surprised, the team I would start with against Accies,

Gilks
Hodson
Wallace
Hill
Wilson
Barton
Rossiter
Kranjar
O`Halloran
Windass
McKay

You might think no Waggy, Miller. Halliday Holt, Foderingham or Tavernier, but I think this is more commited lineup.

The goals might come worth a try!

31 Jul 2016 15:14:07
Agree with thorn except rossiter for Halliday.

31 Jul 2016 16:02:37
Blue bear

You have picked a team with no strikers.

31 Jul 2016 16:22:47
fod
tav kiernan Wilson wallace
Barton
halliday rossiter
ohalloran wahgorn mckay.

31 Jul 2016 17:50:11
Leaving out Tav is pretty questionable. His delivery is excellent at times and scores half of our goals. I'd drop Waldo first if I'm honest because neither is great defensively!

31 Jul 2016 23:08:46
Foderingham

Tavernier
Kiernan
Wilson
Wallace

Barton
Halliday
Rossiter

McKay
Waghorn
O'Halloran.

31 Jul 2016 23:58:34
Rfcinfinity how can you say waggy doesn't deserve to start centre forward? . He's our top scorer. Doesn't matter if he only just scored a penalty, he still scored it.

01 Aug 2016 19:38:05
Why shouldn't waghorn start at cf? . He only just scored a penalty. Get off the guys case.

31 Jul 2016 11:16:28
Most worrying for me is MW and players saying there are positives from Burnley game! Can someone enlighten me! We didn't create one single chance at home and could've lost by more. Barton was the only player (starting) that got close to pass marks imo. McKay is very talented and improving but still extremely frustrating, as Lovenkrands pointed out he gets into dangerous positions and just stops losing momentum and loses the ball between his feet. Miller is hopeless now, remember that chance vs Stenhousemuir? Waggy and Halliday should be dropped until they learn to use 2 feet! Kiernan has a bit of physicality but positional awareness is absolutely shocking, he just charges out leaving players free to score. I almost felt sorry for Clint as he'll take the blame on this occasion. We need to vary the play, Burnley put 3 men on McKay and we had no answer as we only play down the left. Finally, Grays 3rd goal was casually passed into the centre of the net as if Gilks didn't even exist. Very disappointing to say the least!

31 Jul 2016 12:34:29
My god, I hate fans like you, the minute there's one defeat the teams a joke and players are not good enough, how about supporting the team, you do know that's what being a fan is, take the good with the bad, and Miller is not a joke, I'm glad he's still there.

31 Jul 2016 13:54:45
Let's not turn on players, they need our support.

But let's not get carried away either.

This season is going to be tuff going.

Look objectively- Motherwell could easily of scored 3 or 4 against us. The other games were against poor opponents. Burnley are a decent side that's all.

The defence let us down last season and must be improved, it does concern me that it wasn't priority #1. Average to good sides will punish our soft centre.

At other end of pitch we need to move ball quicker and with more intent.

31 Jul 2016 17:45:56
@Delboy9 - Get a grip mate, I fully support the team but when a Rangers player performs at a level I think I could better, I'm going to take exception whether you like it or not!

31 Jul 2016 11:09:25
After yesterdays big wake up call, Dave king should hand a blank ontract to mariappa and tell him to write a figure on it. Not going to win anything with that defence.

31 Jul 2016 14:22:29
Have a word with yourself nacho. If a blank cheque is written it won't be for mariappa.

31 Jul 2016 16:59:52
The marriapa deal is dead. He didn't accept our offer, why over pay a player who didn't want to come. We don't want or need mercenaries.

31 Jul 2016 17:54:17
Yep agreed mr nice although i do think he would've done well. looks like he's going to leeds anyway.

31 Jul 2016 10:52:14
I think we will do well to finish in the top2 this season, still too many frailties there for me, and we try and walk the ball into the net, there is no cutting edge. Plus our defence is too lightweight, even Scott McDonald was pushing our two centre halves about in the Motherwell game.

31 Jul 2016 11:29:09
We have a lot of work to do but c'mon now! Hearts beaten at home by 3rd best team in Maltese league, Kilmarnock can't beat Albion Rovers at home etc etc SPL is a mug league. let's not forget we lost 3-1 to a premiership side losing a penalty after 4 minutes which wasn't one and played about as bad as possible for the remaining 86.

31 Jul 2016 11:29:09

31 Jul 2016 15:08:14
RFCinfinity c'mon Burbled played better than Rangers they controlled the game in first half Only credit you can give Rangers is maybe the last 20-25mins we were better but Burnley I feel could've notched up a gear!

I'm not too disheartened as we have come a long way but we have to be smarter at the back and more clinical upfront We have to drive at the opposition and not give a moment's peace

That's the Rangers I want to see

Time to get the cheque book out and buy some quality centre back for sure

I'm sure we have enough cover and competition for places up front!

31 Jul 2016 09:47:46
It is still early days in the new season with 9 new signings still to bed in. These friendlies can be a poisoned chalice. If we had beaten Burnley we'd be on our way to being world beaters. But we lost though there is no need for doom and gloom. Warburton still hasn't settled on his best team and Windass and Crooks were out injured. I think Wallace, Mackay, Barton, Rossiter and Waghorn are definite starters to build the team around. When Crooks is fit maybe he will slot in beside Wilson and I'd give Hodson a run at right back. I would use Kranjcar and Miller as subs on a regular basis as neither has the legs they had before. Remember, we won't play English Premier League teams every week and I still think that when the new squad starts to blend we'll be very hard to beat this season. I'm really glad we are not in Europe because that would have been a step too far in Warburton's new team-building. 10th September is our next big test when we go to the midden heap.

31 Jul 2016 10:58:11
A don't see waghorn as a definite starter. any decent opposition and posted missing not got the legs for out wide and remains t b seen if he kin b a number 9.

31 Jul 2016 11:13:46
Fair point Bully 1. Maybe Dodoo will become automatic no.1 striker instead? It is a shame Hardie has gone out on loan. We won't know what he is like unless given a chance!

31 Jul 2016 23:50:55
No doiger, next Saturday is our first big test. , and I for one am not overly confident, may win 5 nil, may draw 1/ 1, defense can't defend, strikers can't score, and too many players, in wrong position, thus taking 3 players off on the hour not only. Affects a players confidence and the team structure, it also gives opposition leader a heads up on what is likely to happen. ? I love Warbs, but I really hope he knows what it takes to win a title. , starting with a solid spine, and not giving new contract to poor defenders, as much as I love the football, I worry bout his experience and apparent inability to stop taking players off on the hour and never putting a corner kick in the box occasionally, and stockpile of midfielders, I would like him to have a preferred team, like Walter did, and he knew what it takes to win a title. , tho I much prefer Warbs football, get MOH in middle and let his pace and guile show through, Waggy is decent, but not great, Kenny has never been a good finished in hos career, and the entire defense is not good enough, at the moment.
Tommy.

31 Jul 2016 08:57:21
Mark warburton quite rightly said in newspaper interviews this morning that signing a centre half is his priority before we start in the league against hamilton on saturday, we've been linked with a good few centre halfs and on here today I would like to gauge what all other bears think and which centre half they would like to see us signing being realistic and within reason, I would like us to sign mariappa if its possible because as well as being strong and commanding he has a good turn of pace, of course there's others like madjid bougherra, steven taylor, chris samba, mawson from barnsley etc, should be a really good debate to see all the difference in opinions and who they'd prefer us to sign.

31 Jul 2016 09:04:31
I firmly believe that Bougherra will be back in a blue shirt. He has said many a time that he wants to come back and its all been very quiet from him recently. Let's be honest he fits in with the hats style of attacking football.

31 Jul 2016 09:19:45
Majic should go for majhid.

31 Jul 2016 10:46:28
Warbs15, I too would like Mariappa mate as I feel he'd complete the jigsaw. He's strong, commanding and has resonable pace. He'd slot into the team perfectly. If we don't get him then I honestly don't know who the gaffer will go for? Maybe a loan signing. One thing is clear though, if we want to challenge this year we need to strengthen that position.

Agree with you Warbs 15 Mariappa would be my first choice of those spoken about so far. A bit small (under 6') but very experienced at a higher level than SPL, albeit not as a regular starter. An international captain so used to organising a defence (hopefully) . We've already spoken to him so I would go back to him and up the offer-I love Tav in particular but playing him and Rob Kiernan together on the right seems like a recipe for plenty of goals being shipped-fear what the likes of Hayes, Jamie Walker or Patrick Roberts might do against them. Of the others you mentioned -Bougherra-has said he would like to come back but could we afford his wages and he could be a bomb scare at times for us-Samba-wages an issue for him too? Mawson-only young so may be great prospect but lacks experience and is under contract to Barnsley till 2018 so would cost. If we don't get anybody I'd give Matt Crooks a go when he's fit-it may not be where he ideally wants to play but needs must I would say rather than leaving things as they are and hoping for the best. Like you would like to hear what others say.
