The biggest thing we lack on the field is a dominant mid-field. To control the centre of the park you need a controller, a player with a flexible footballing brain and, importantly, be able to change a game. There is nobody on our books, now, that can fill that vacancy.
There are plenty of 'old heads' out there that could do the thinking and with a few young athletes around about them we could still salvage a bit of pride out of this season. More importantly, we may eliminate the legacy of mcc's management.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you mean someone like Scott Allan who was deemed too small by McCoist and had adequate players for that area, really? Also think a good right back has to be a priority as foster just isn't cutting it but as for the rest of the season McDowell needs to get the confidence up in the players as there is too many shying away from wanting the ball incase they make a mistake and that will only improve with wins so we can only hope I suppose

Agree0 Disagree0

Scott Allan can't play in a 2 man midfield the same way Nicky law can't they have terrible positioning, allans been playing wide for hibs or In a midfield 3

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever says Allan was too small? Think you just made that up there

Can't remember anyone at Rangers saying anything about Scott allen but I recall Scott allen publicly stating that he was never approached by Rangers b4 joining hibs.

Agree0 Disagree0

On the subject of height and the late managers remarks; Scott Allan is 1. 75m tall --------------Lionel Messi is 1. 69m tall

Regarding the next rangers manager, has anyone heard anything regarding who the next rangers manager is going to be?Again was at ibrox for our game against dumbarton today, yet again the performance wasn't at all good, to my pal nothingbutthestruth, have you heard anything on who our next manager is likely to be?I heard derek mcinnes from a guy at ibrox today, he told me though it depends on acquiring funding at the end of the season so we can pay the sheep compensation for mcinnes, my choice would be billy davies, he's exactly what we need at the moment in my opinion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - Billy Davies or Stuart McCall for me)

Last year I said d macinnes needed more time to see if beating celtic was luck etc butv he has kicked on from there and I know honestly thin he is the man for the job with his assistant being either barry ferguson or ian murray probably ferguson tips the balance because he would push the players on with his moaning and groaning but that's only my opinion I definetly don't want terry butcher or billy davis

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should find a place for Brian Laudrup, probably not as manager but at least 1st team coach with a man in charge with a bit of experience

Agree0 Disagree0

A few week's ago one of the posters bigcol, was touting Alex Neil, and he was shot down a bit, I said at the time no chance but the more I see of his team and the way he conducts himself then I'm beginning to think it was maybe not a bad shout, I do like him as a manager, but would he be able to handle a high pressured job like Rangers, who knows, there's a lot of good young managers in Scotland at the moment, let's hope whoever we get next will be given the time and support to build a great Rangers team for the future, because its going to take a while to sort the mess out that we have at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eddie Howe. Karl Robinson or Derek mcinnes

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Compensation????? Eddie Howe would be a couple million and Karl Robinson is one of the most highly rated young coaches in England)

Ceexxx
Eddie howe left Bournemouth for Burnley and his mum died so he moved back to Bournemouth to be near to his family, he once said he'd never manage another club the other side of the Watford gap, good shout but that guy will probably end up at a top London club in the future, We've got to remember that Rangers haven't got the fund's to cherry pick managers in England, there's more money down here even in the lower leagues than what most Scottish clubs can only dream about. sad but true.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha cheers royal blue. to be fair it was gkk who shot me down. I think we need to think out the box a bit. those other two guys from England would be a good shout as well. we need someone who is not afraid to play our best youth players. the big question is and always has been, would our fans be patient enough to allow an alex Neil the time to build a young exciting team. answer. no!!ps billy Davis, Stuart McCall Barry Ferguson and terry butcher. no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said on here before about Alex Neil from Hamilton Accies to be considered as next manager but have also thought could he handle the massive pressure that comes with the job but that's the gamble I think worth the risk but I would also like to see Derek Mccinnes as our next manager for the same reason as Alex Neil they both are young and have their team playing very good exciting attacking football with mostly young and hungry players something we have been deprived of for a few years now ,I really don't want Davies,McCall or Butcher although whoever gets the job I will give him and the team 100% backing as always.cheers guys

Bigcol:I never shot you down mate, its a good call actually. No offence, but you posted Alex Neil a few days in a trot I think, and I was just pointing it out for you lol.Neil is the type we need, and his academy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gkk I forgive you. haha. i'd love to see this guy at rangers. hamilton are a dream to watch just now. just think what he could do for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigcol
I know we Rangers fans are not the most patient bunch, but after the last few years we've had then I'd be certainly willing to take a hit and give time for a new manager to build a good squad as long as we see an improvement and a good structure in place I'm sure they would get backing from most fans, after all I'm just glad we've still got a club to support and a bit of light at the end of the long dark tunnel. PS. it's good to see love is in the air.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've also heard a few rumours the super salary will be reinstated when the boardroom fiasco is finally resolved. well if that happens then you can shove it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Please god no.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bigcol:They won't have him back as manager surely?Park etc are big fans too, they must have heard the fans screaming for McCoists head. They might bring him back to sing at half time or something? If and when they get control it will be a complete overhaul.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2015 14:20:13
Alex Neil with Neil McCann for me two men with a great knowledge of the game, think they would give us the attractive winning football we all crave.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to see Garry Locke. Thought he did well at hearts under difficult circumstances.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccoist won't be back as manager, give it a rest, he was hounded out and people still can't help there selfs, let it go, find someone else to moan about

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed039 a said it's who I would like I didn't say it was realistic lol. Everybody knows it will be a cheap manager without a club I just hope it's not Davies. and Alex Neil would be awful

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - I know thats what you said mate, in an ideal world we would have Jose Mourinho but its just not realistic is it :-)

A very good shout soon bear.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would alex neil be awefull?not as awefull as ally. alex neil and neil mccann gets my vote. the only other one I would take is mcinnes. hope your right gkk that there would be a complete overhaul from top to bottom

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha royalblue. play your cards right and gkk might even get his nat king!

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of people touting Alex Neil. Ok, here are a few things to think abaout. Alex was the youth coach at Hamilton, he was there for years, he brought through all of the players he now has in the 1st team, they have been there since they were young boys and have grown up with his philosophy. To take someone from that environment and put him amongst a load of players he doesn't know, to try his training methids on seasoned pro's who will think they know better will end in disaster. Now, the ideal scenario COULD be bringing him in as part of a management team, allowing him to grow into the club, allow the players to see what he is about, let him get involved down the ranks with the youth and then in 3-4 years you have a reayd made replacement with players who know him, basically the Hamilton project. Who could he work with, forget Billy Davies the man is a liability and would crumble at Rangers. He cannot handle criticism from anyone, look at his antics at Forrest, what will he be like when the Rangers fans get on his back if he loses a few games! You need someone with the ability to lift what is there and to look at the young players. I don't have a name for you but McCall did ok at Motherwell, Butcher another liability. still, game of opinions after all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally mac that's fair enough however I could see him leaving a managers job to go to a youth coach again. remember all the deadwood contracts are up in the summer. I've said I would be willing to take the hit another year in championship to allow him to build a young team. first on my list would be to get Scott Allan back.

we won today but not in style there are too many players just going through the motions or are lacking in confidence but to me its the first unless kmacdowall boots some arses we will struggle but I still think hearts can be caught

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jan 2015 19:02:10
Any word on the attendance today?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - Official attendance listed as 30,031 but that probably includes season ticket holders who stayed away as well)

03 Jan 2015 19:22:51
Does anybody, with even something that passes for a brain think that people who are willing to pump funds way beyond what us ordinary fans can only dream about into share purchasees, would place Mr McCoist back in the mamagers chair?
P R man certainly, ambassador, whatever that is, certainly, but anything involving matter directly on the playing side, No, No and Thrice No!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jan 2015 14:04:17
Good news team wise today is black, aird and Clark dropped and foster must count himself very lucky to keep his place. Is McDowell finally working out that he picks the team to play his way and not be loyal to McCoist by playing his boring way. We shall watch with interest c'mon the bears

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bt, lucky, that is a terrible decision to give foster a start after his performance last week, he had a hand in three of the four goals

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

It may be good news team wise but not good news game wise defence is f///////bad news so far hopeless and hapless springs to mind clueless

Agree0 Disagree0

We have a lucky equaliser a good crowd today

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats stevie smith been eating this week some of popeyes spinach

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2015 16:59:23
Aye,I think he's been eatin popeye's spinach too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Far too open in the middle of the park law just leaves us completely outnumbered either drop him or go 5 in midfield jeeso

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats back to walters tactics flood the midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Law has lost the confidence to burst forward and drive at the opp defence.
He did it at Motherwell, that's why we signed him. McCoist probably stopped him from doing it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes playing in a midfield 2 he doesn't go forward he doesn't defend McDowell could go out himself annd do what law does

Agree0 Disagree0

@7 - Walters tactics did us just fine for years, better than Allys!

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Steve smith the day that's what you call running yourself in to the ground lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye but given a position that suits him for a change now that ally play u out of position is gone

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2015 20:47:39
Same position McCoist played him many a time,as a left sided midfielder. He played there against Hibs last week too.
He can put in a great ball at times though I must admit.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Thats all he has though, would like to see Temps get a run at left midfield)

03 Jan 2015 21:13:31
Me too Ed,I don't know, the boys head seems elsewhere. If we can get him right though he is our best player potentially.
I think he might be away this month, hope I'm wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Apparantly Lemon wants him at Bolton)

Tell him he can have black for nuthin they would be well matched

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone greeting playing folk out position and now you wanna play templeton a right winger on the left, smiths the only player we have who can cross! Play templeton right aird is horrendous

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Temps has played on the left all of his career, just because he is right footed doesnt mean he doesnt play on the left, Dennis Irwin was right footed and was one the finest left backs I have ever seen)

03 Jan 2015 14:01:40
Glad to see Hutton playing but why Daly and Miller? We lose most games because of this bloody 442 would like to see a 4 33 temps Boyd shields

Believable0 Unbelievable0

@1

I am astonished to see Foster starting today after his dreadful performance last week and all season. For me he has been even worse than Black and that's saying something.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any Bears give a hoot about the hearts score today are we better keeping the likes of hibs off our tails or eroding into what looks like an unassailable lead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just stuck £20 on @ 7-1 for us to win the league on wullihill

Agree0 Disagree0

Draw is best result for us hearts not uncatchable but it depends on what we do hearts will hit a sticky patch too and have injuries or suspensions

Agree0 Disagree0

With £20 on at 7/1 I have calculated that you will get absolutely nothing back.

Im glad to see the 3 bears and Dave king getting on board. I wonder if the timing got anything to do with Ally being gone? let's hope they clear the rest of the dead wood and reinstate loyal long serving low paid workers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Inverbear. totally agree mate. loyal servants being treated shabbly. people with 40 and more years service no longer wanted. hopefully they'll get there jobs back. happy new year to aw bears and to the 66 no longer with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts are the first thing king and co will do is reinstall ally as manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Weepieman
I had a bit of a nightmare last night thinking the same thing, but I can't see that happening, I'm sure their all wise enough to know what the fans reaction to that would be. However I do believe ally will end back up at Ibrox one day in some sort of capacity ie aambassador, and good luck to him if he does. I would really like to see John Greig back sitting in the directors box.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I thought king would reinstate ally I would personally jump onto a plane to dissuade him

Agree0 Disagree0

He will definetly be re instated once they gain control. Why do you think he was "happy " to serve notice. Ally knew what was about to happen and also knew the current board couldn't afford to bring in a replacement. Ally has always acted in the best interest of the club and wish a few in here would stop having a go. When it all comes out in the wash, a few of you will be due him a massive apology. Let's concentrate in ridding our club of the current board, then fully supporting the new one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please ally only looked after his own interests

Agree0 Disagree0

@5 Gers09, a massive apology for what?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2015 14:51:25
Ally always acted in the best interest of rangers don't make me laugh! So u don't mind him being a terrible manager then just as long as he is a true rangers man? Unbelievable!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2015 17:29:19
@5 I think he owes us an apology for his lack of management and tactical skills .

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing that can be said about amcc is that he was an apology as a manager. If he is considered for any post relating to the footballing side of our club we have NO chance of success in the future and I would guarantee that thousands will never return to watch our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2015 21:03:27
King and Park etc have given us a bit of hope for the future. They are fans themselves remember, and no matter how much they like him they would have to admit he is no manager.I wouldn't give him a scouting job, maybe a meet and greet job at one of the suites?

Agree0 Disagree0

Every post by gers09 is typical of the people that defended mccoist till the death. Blind to the fact he tore 2.4million out us and wasted millions of pounds to produce the worst standard of football in the total history of Rangers FC since our humble beginnings. Yes it is the worst we have ever played in every sense tactically a joke and effort nearly as bad. No pride in the shirt and every player over rated bar maybe Wallace and a couple of others at the most. So to even consider wanting mccoist anywhere near our team selection ever again is pure idiocy and shows zero appreciation of anything to do with football. People like gers09 are the reason it has taken so long to get rid of mccoist and now fiinally the board by the looks of it I hope. How exactly do you work out your ideas and opinions? It is not based on evidence or facts you clearly have no idea at all what you are talking about and this comes over in every single post you make, if you doubt my opinion please try reading the reaction to your dumbass posts by the sensible intelligent fans that respond like me to these loony opinions. Nothingbutthestruth, a cracking post you posted here mate just hope it now falls into place with no more false dawns so we all as 'gers diehards can get our beloved football club back to where it belongs, I like millions of other bears absolutely love the institution we call glasgow rangers, I've always been so proud to be a true blue and season ticket holder for close on 40 years now, with your info Nothingbutthestruth how long do you reckon it'll take to get this regime out and the new look proper rangers men board in?I hope not too long although I do understand it could take a bit of time yet, watp to all!

Hi big red, Not long. Dave King and three bears have really caught the board by suprise Kings got a score to settle with Somers and Sandy over their behavior on the previous offer. I met Mr King only once he does not mince his words he will know that the spivs may sell more of the family silverware to Ashley for loans. Now he has made his move I reckon he will do what is required to see Ashley and his puppets out of the door. If not King will formally join with Latham Taylor and Park to compulsive buy out the remaining shares which he does not want as it would £6M i'm shareholders pockets he has set aside for restructuring the club. But it is an option to see out the board and Ashley
