Ohalloran more of a wide player think we need a goalscorer Cummings would be ideal but hibs won't sell simple as that so forget about Cummings?

Dazza73,its only made up rumours that michael o'halloran was at murray park today and will be signing for us, that's the tall and the short of it mate, it's not happening.

It's a story that's popped up here a few times tends to start with Ma mate! but it was mentioned a month or so ago too thick it started because he played well against us in the cup folk suggested He would be a good addition to the team and its grew from there.

Taking stock from this time 12 months ago, here is where I perceive we are. we have a relatively young team who are hungry and want to play for the club, on a reduced wage bill. One or two players who need to move on (IMO Bell, Clark, Aird) and we have some good prospects on loan who will return (Gasparotto, Walsh etc. ) We are signing players who are likely to grow in value and we are not taking risks by signing players on 6 month deals initially to see if they fit in and kick on. We are playing a more attractive style of football although are a few positions short of real quality (striker to support Waghorn, defensive midfielder and a commanding centre half) . we have a manager and coaching staff who lead with dignity and who understand the holistic approach to training, nutrition, hydration and recovery, and who has brought in a better culture to the team. We are doing our business more on the back pages in a footballing sense.

We are improving slowly on the business side and I can only hope that we see progress in escaping from the Ashley/Green/White horrors. We have to believe in our new Board and support when they ask us, without being blindly naiive.

All in all, a better place for us all, with a return to the top league looking more and more likely. We need to stick together as a support, show how great we can be, and cut out the unsavoury singing which only gets rammed down our throats by our regular detractors. Let's give them nothing to hit us with. We have another two transfer windows to keep getting stronger in advance of the premiership and in two seasons we can surely aim for more silverware.

Just my idle observations as a dyed in the wool season ticket holder.

Whatever your take on this, it's my first post, so happy new year to you all and your families, and to the visitors who like to come and add their wisdom and banter, happy new year too and remember, "it's all about the Rangers". :-)

LifelongGer.

Great post and agree with you completely.

Agree LLG.

We don't just need to cut out the singing because it feeds the detractors. We need to cut it out because it belongs in the dark ages. And yes, this comes from someone who sang these self-same songs back in the day - and not too far back either. Let's just say I had an epiphany!

The atmosphere at Ibrox can be great again with a different slant to the singing.

Great to see Rangers making there way back though.

Happy New Year to all. The.

YeS we are in a much better place both on and off the field. But am I the only one who is underwhelmed by our 2 signings so far? As I've posted before of my lack of faith in Foderingham the goalie may be a good addition, but if you all had positions you'd like to see us improve, I'd very much doubt if any of you or me would have picked right forward/winger and goalie. If we bought an out and out right back and moved Tav to right mid/winger or move Waghorn to the right, where I think he belongs, and bought a striker it would make much more sense.
A DC with pace and attitude a box to box hard tackling mid and a striker were the areas I thought we'd prioritise. Still I have to cheat a little to win at Football manager.

Bluepete trust the manager he knows what he's doing and the 2 signings of forrester and gostomski are needed to add competition for places especially if we get injuries, I've got no doubt that warbs WILL sign the correct players we need ie. a defensive midfielder, centre half and striker just be patient until the january window closes before starting to criticise mate.

Bruisedbear, 100% agree with you. These songs don't belong at Ibrox or in society. These plenty of more relevant and socially acceptable songs which far better befit our great club.

Bluepete, I see your point. I do trust the gaffer though and I think we are in the early stages of a long term plan whereby he will sign players he rates and can improve when they are available without huge outlay. I do expect a few players to be excited about though even if they are at first, relative unknowns.

I'd also happily see Oduwa and Zelalem return down south as I think both flatter to deceive.

Excited for the first transfer window in a long time!

Beautiful post and assessment LLG, welcome to a very passionate forum where we sometimes don't always agree. However what we do have is a love for ALL things Rangers. THAT is why WE ARE ALL RANGERS here (except for the trolls of course! )

Thanks PieandBovril. Diversity is a great thing so hopefully I can get into some of the debate safe in the knowledge that we are all part of the same family. Let's hope that 2016 sees the team we love get back on the straight and narrow and get back to winning ways and making headlines for all the right reasons. Cheers again.

04 Jan 2016 00:24:09
Absolutely sir. We are all entitled to our opinion and should be allowed to voice it, secure in the knowledge that whilst it may not be one we all hold, it is the love of our team that has driven us to express it. We should be encouraged and welcomed by our fellow supporters, not pilloried or dismissed. Our opinion should matter and should be examined for in it could lie a wee gem, something none of us had thought of. (I for one await my first week gem! )

Weres this O'Halloran news coming from?

03 Jan 2016 20:48:33
From a guy's mate who lives close to murray park, the usual bs source.

Does anyone think that Foderingham has looked a bit of form since the talk of signing Maciej Gostomski?

03 Jan 2016 19:08:06
I was only aware of the link from Friday night and thought Big Wes was relatively untroubled yesterday.

03 Jan 2016 22:26:20
I have always been a big fan of Foderingham thought he has been great shot stopper since start of season and distrubution of balls has been good but he looked suspect with his feet early on which I put down to nerves although he seems to have settled in well, I just wondered if the prospect of another goalie taking his position has made him slightly unsettled again and making mistakes like the one against hibs. Hopefully the competition will do him good though.

03 Jan 2016 23:25:40
Wes is a disaster when it comes to commanding the area.

04 Jan 2016 08:35:03
I wasn't sure about the goalie at first, especially, as some have said, with the ball at his feet, but I think he has done well. He has definitely sorted out his passing and kicking and his shot stopping is not in question. Sometimes he is left exposed by his defence but I'd put that down to the style of football we are playing. Although he is tall a lot of the time he seems to be a goal line keeper a la Goram (Hibs' second goal) , but then poor Wes cannot count on the likes of Gough or Butcher to bail him out of such situations. Realistically I think the big Pole will be for purely back up and may get a game in the SC or Petrofac Cup final (though Wes may not be happy about that! ) . Begs the question though, how serious is Cammy Bell's injury?

03 Jan 2016 14:40:27
Rangers website confirms Gostomski has signed on a 6 month deal.

03 Jan 2016 00:16:11
Hopefully we can pick up wins from every game this month.

Seems realistic after the two great performances against Hibernian and Dumbarton.

Tavernier back to his best, wonderful performance. Halliday controlled the midfield. McKay played amazing coming off the left and Miller's best performance this season.

Sheils and Clark coming off the bench making a positive impact once again.

Three points is only three points but the performance was top class.
