Probably the worst legacy that murray left was the season ticket influence. Like most of the oldies that still support the Glasgow Rangers, we remember that the club was financed by the owner and we went, week by week, mostly on a supporter's bus and backed our club. If things went on that we did not fancy, we did not go, and then the club reacted, or otherwise.
Always remember, that the supporter is the club's lifeblood, but now we have a situation that not only are we the lifeblood but the banker as well.
The, supposed, custodians of our future are nothing but charlatans, only interested in themselves and not our club.
Are the current lot any better than their predecessors, I have my doubts.

@billyb

You are delusional mate, we have just taken in approx £6.5 m in season ticket sales and it cost £20 m to run Rangers last year, that's our biggest contribution as fans and we are £13.5 m short of doing as you say and bankrolling the club. For us fans to bankroll the Club we would need 45,000 season tickets sold with a 50% price increase on every ticket. That's to break even on last years figures, add new players and any wage increases and its more. The predecessors of the current board gave every other revenue stream away to Ashley. So before you slag the current Board at least do your sums.

If we are lucky enough to average 30000 at home games next year the guy you hate and his fellow investors will need to invest about £8 m to keep us afloat. Even if its a 40,000 average they will still have to invest around £3 m to stand still. We have no retail income and even at 51% with the current deal would bring in about£800,000 if we bought shirts. The advertising revenue is poor because we are not in the SPL and Ashley will be paying a fraction of the going rate. The food is hived off too. Wake up man.

Gers68, Delusional I might be, but the point about season tickets is that the pre-murray era was financed by the owners from the outset and recouped as the season unfolded.
As far as DK is concerned, he got control after making certain promises about the investment etc. necessary to get us back to the top, but these have not materialised. Yes it is early days and he was decisive re the management team, but we will always be playing catch-up, unless major funds are put in place and we are not relying on short term loans. DK made promises that he has not, or cannot fulfil and unless there is a radical overhaul of the finances of our club we will lose, entirely, the platform we have held for many years in world football.

gers 68 ioo% correct billy b is totally off his rocker its the same chant from his soapbox all the time he expects the board to throw millions in for players then fund the losses even the season money has the v a t element to come off to be paid to the goverment so if u take £7m u lose £1400000 in tax

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jul 2015 10:17:44
Billy his investment is over a 3 to 5 year period and its pretty season in the first year!! As for DM he used ticketus which is our ST money in advance, that's where Whyte got the idea and the bank of Scotland's money. He will invest £7m at least this season to hopefully win the championship and this will be the cheapest year of his tenure. Be grateful that he is, if he didn't come in we would have been a Championship Club for years, maybe for good and Ashley would have owned all our assets, would that have been better for you and your King hating pals?.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Jul 2015 13:35:44
I understand all concerns regardless of what way the funding is provided given what has happened to the club.

Bottom line is we have no revenue streams and the days of expecting others to pay for our football is long gone. My view that if it is our club and our football then we as fans should pay for the standard that we want,. If the aspiration is to get into the champions league qualifiers in five years time then we have to start paying for it know even it it means doubling the season ticket price.

Why should we expect DK ( even if he says he would) to put his money in regardless where he got it from into our football. I will be happy if he can simply stabilise the club over the coming year

Dear oh dear wes foderingham! A diddie who's just been let go from Swindon! Champions league in 3 years! Massive club! This half wit should be on comedy central! And naz we're not greedy,the double will do just fine! Always next year for the treble! While use fight and scrape to get out the 2nd tier! Enjoy that buddy!

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Foderingham was not let go from Swindon, he turned down their contract offer. He wanted to win things. His choice was between a couple of Championship clubs, that, no disrespect to them intended, were never going to win a trophy if he played for them for 50 years. Rangers offer him a better chance of picking up some silverware in his career. Nice to see a player choosing a chance of trophies over money, as he would have earnt more in England. It is a big gamble though.}

04 Jul 2015 11:12:36
He wanted to win things! What did he go to use for then! Haha!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - use? Not sure what on earth that gibberish is meant to mean. If you are typing as you speak, rather than trying to make it easy for everyone by using English so everyone can understand, then you are somehow trying to suggest he has joined Liverpool. Not sure what planet you are on, judging by your posts it is certainly not this one, but he has not joined Liverpool, in case you missed it. He joined Rangers. As for why, because there is a very good chance, no matter how much I know you hate to admit it, that at some point in the next 3-5 years Rangers will pick up a trophy of some kind. It might take longer than that to challenge for the league, but there are other trophies available, such as two cups, that are often won by a team other than the one dominating the league. Whereas if he stayed in England, the choice was to join a team that has pretty much no chance whatsoever of even picking up a cup. I think it is refreshing to see a player take the chance of trophies over the certainty of better pay in this day and age.}

04 Jul 2015 12:28:36
wow ed he certainly hit a nerve

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - did he? On who?}

04 Jul 2015 12:36:05
why is that gibberish?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - because it is just nonsense, it is not even typed in slang. It is just incorrectly typed by utilising the word use rather than some variant of you with an s or se or similar on the end. So what he ended up with is some gibberish about someone using 'for then' which makes absolutely no sense. We also use the variant of you with an added s on the end in Scouse, but no one spells it use. Even if he actually had spelt it right, it would still be incorrect because to be referring to me, who is answering, you, or yous or youse, would in fact refer to Liverpool. So, in his attempt to try and be clever with his riposte he has actually just made an arse of himself by assuming that I support Rangers because I am covering the site while our Rangers editor is not about.}

Much as I could not stand dm, the one thing he got right was certain actions to boost the morale of the punters.[us]. Right at this moment, if DK[ Shylock.] put a couple of million on the table to enable one or two seasoned pros to be available to the manager, then season tickets would be like hotcakes. I honestly think that our manager is signing good players because he has a good reputation. Time for our chairman to dig deep and not depend on us to fund everything.

Walter smith. Clearly never worked under Craig Mather
He was brought in as he was ally's mate as I said jobs for the boys
Someone Ally McCoist knows from his youth in East Kilbride - he attended Hunter High while Henry was a pupil at Duncanrig – the manager is delighted to have appointed him.

Personally think MW is going about his business well. Unlike mccoist. Start with the fundamentals. And was screaming out for long enough that our back four was a sham. Starting from the back should be the first thing any manager should deal with. People moaning about strikers and stuff. More pressing matters that have to get dealt with which I think he has done.

GK. bell wes

DEF. Wallace McGregor Wilson Kiernan
Zaliuskas gasparotto. Warbara

Mid. Eustace Halliday shiels law Murdoch
Temps Walsh McKay Crawford aird.

Str. Miller Gallagher

No doubt we do need more players and hopefully Allen Lewis McLeod and the lad from spurs and afew players do come in. Gers going to train at spurs training ground. Could involve in a few players being sent to Gers on loan. Think positive. Too many people write off players to fast. Specially at a club like ours with its stature and prestige. It's always going to be an issue. And isn't going to change overnight. Sorry for the long post just think for the first time in years something at Ibrox is getting done the right way.

Agree with you DEEB end of the day they get a better chance to prove themselves at smaller clubs. Fair enough. To many rangers fans want things to happen overnight. Needs freshed up. Allen proved it against rangers and in the championship last season. To be brutally honest anythings better than what we had last season. Scott Allen is a young playmaker. Not his biggest fan. There's a fair bit of optimism sprinkled with lashings of wishful thinking going around and the " playing for the jersey " crown overrated. We need talent first and foremost and we do need a couple of those signings in quickly.

Season ticket sales look modest. Accepting we need to be frugal, we should look at cashing in or a player swap with the likes of Temmpleton. He's a good player but hasn't adapted to Rangers. Swap him for Allan. We need creativity in midfield and a striker. There's a lot of goodwill for Warburton and Weir and that's a good thing right now but I don't see the current squad blitzing the league.

Agree4 Disagree2

03 Jul 2015 12:07:30
Why on earth would hibs want to swap Allen for tempelton? If Allen is worth a million you would need to give hibs 2 million, a million for Allen and a million compensation for lumbering them with tempelton .

Agree1 Disagree5

03 Jul 2015 13:39:36

A lot of people upset with recruitment of "massive club Rangers". Massive fan base, yes-attractive club, absolutely not! Lots of money? No way! Who are you expecting to want to join a scottish championship club like we are right now?! This window is going as I thought, cheap and effective signings but nothing to get overly excited about-aka ww making a stop-gap squad good enough for promotion, with some players like Wilson destined to play on for a while, in the hope of bringing in higher quality players for more money when Europe etc. is in realistic sights and better value for money can hopefully be obtained. This is a far more practical approach to signings that we have been crying out for.

Mediocre players from league one and two in England??

I've not heard us being linked with league 2 players and we haven't signed any as yet so we'll forget about that.

League one players? We've been linked with 2 or 3 top performers from England's league one. All of whom are young, have massive potential and have been linked with teams from England's championships.

I'm not sure if you have been living in a bubble for the last 5 or so years but we are in scotlands seconds tier which is mainly part time. If we can attract decent young lads from league one with potential sell on value that would be a huge bonus especially when league one in England is a far better league with far better players than even the top tier up here.

Agree6 Disagree2

03 Jul 2015 08:24:47
Kaz that's the level we are at and should have been at since it all went pear shaped we are building from the bottom up gone are the days of the big names coming to us even the east end lot can't attract the top names anymore just because the money is no there to pay the ridiculous wages some of these players command nowadays I mean £50.000 a week in England doesn't get you much that's like a small risk down there at the moment especially in the EPL,we are just hopeing we can get lucky and unearth a rough diamond who we get for a song and make a few quid out of them then hopefully we can start to build a pot of cash to progress to the SPFL so we can get slightly better players then the main goal is to challenge the eastenders and qualify for Europe on a regular basis as hard as it is my friend these are the times ahead for us I personally think it will take about another 3 years or so for us to be functioning as a proper team and a club as a whole and then is when I think we might see some proper investment from DK and others,until then I will still support the team and management 100% so let's be patient and keep the faith. 🇬🇧

I understand the need for a new broom and new approach after the failure of the Old Boys' Network to get us up last season. W & W seem like an astute combination but I'm not inspired by the signings or endless links with out-of-contract guys from the lower divisions down South. My lawyer who knows the Three Bears comes to Stranraer from Edinburgh a fair bit and he assures me there will be two big announcements before the end of next week. I asked if it was Allan and May but he wouldn't say. I just want a psychological boost with a bigger name than Foderingham with all due respect to the boy.
