Hi fellow bears first time posting but been an avid daily reader of the site, just been reading the newspaper and in despair at derek johnstone backing stuart mccall to be given the job to rebuild, my point being it is folk him that has caused rangers to be where they are, all this jobs for the boys nonsense, we need a total clear out of rangers men who are currently employed by the club, can't believe dj, seems more interested in his mates than the club

Myweepaljoe. welcome to the site,i drift in and out on here.stuart mccall isn't my first choice, but I wouldn't be to upset if he got it.mccall got that bunch of sh@#$ looking less sh@#$.thats an improvment.mcall might be one of the boys, but one with a decent managerial record on a shoe string budget, imagine what he would do on a decent budget.but again not my first choice. mabye 3rd out of the front runners.

cheers laudrup, nothing against mccall ,just believe its time to cut loose from past players and really look to the future, but regardless, I will be worried if we still haven't appointed anyone by the end of this week , the position needs filled asap ,

McCall rejoins Scotland setup looks like he has been told nae chance the fact Warburton has had talks expressed interest but has not yet been given the job makes me think king and co have another in mind

I hope I am wrong but I do not think a manager will be appointed until after the egm on the 12th. June.
I also worry that DK will continue to stall any financial input and we will stumble into another season half-cocked with an unprepared team scrambling for points. We cannot expect a new manager to come in and wave a magic wand. We need to be up and running from day 1 and, under the circumstances, I think Stuart McCall will get another year and apointments will be made to support the youth and scouting sections of our club.
With money, apparently, being tight, I would expect McCall to reduce the wage budget by 30-40%, with these funds being utilised in the youth and scouting divisions.
Not ideal, but that looks like the way we will go.

Please someone tell me Richard Foster is away he has got to be the worst right back in rangers history and it's a position held by lots of great players in past including Ricksen and Jardine

Where is JRT when you need his list for Manager? Or is he still typing?

I think he pretty much covered every available manager going. There can't be too many left he did not hear a 'scoop' on.

A short 5 weeks to assemble a management team and squad ready for pre season. Hopefully no ludicrous jaunts over the Atlantic to face some college teams.

There's nor right or wrong answer (unless you say McCoist for either. lol)

Not sure, but seeing as we are going for transparency, I think we should offer Herr Blatter a position at the club.

I know most bears probably don't want Stuart McCall in charge next season but I can't help but think he is being treated very shabbily by the board, who are basically saying we want somebody else but if we can't get them you can have the job as you're a cheap option and willing.

The guy surely deserves better than that.

I haven't heard a thing about McCall becoming manager. infact from what I've heard he's out the running.

Its a ruthless business Naz, and the coming season is potentially our most important ever.McCall knew he wasn't guaranteed the job even if he got us up,if its shabby so be it.No room for sentiment here.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 17:01:58
I like McCall. Seems a good guy. The only thing I thought from day 1 is that it is a very difficult task to motivate a squad were most of them are out of shape and 12 are out of contract in the near future. But McCall took the job with 3 months of the season to go. It was a gamble that eventually didn't pay off. After the league stage had ended I was convinced that even if McCall had got promotion he was out of a job. In fact he may have more chance of keeping his job if Gers stayed down.

Best of luck to him.

Agree with shuggy , good luck Stuart McCall, but we need something special with the promise of something different from the brand of football that we have been served up over the last 6 or 7 years and for me Mccall did not offer that . To sell the amount of ST that we need to sell this season we need someone that can "walk the walk" as well as "talk the talk" so this is possibly the most important appointment we have ever made we must get it right.

Agree0 Disagree5

03 Jun 2015 20:54:50
your right its an important decision but the final choice will not come with a guarantee, we are all praying its the right pick.

Whoever we choose they must put together a squad capable of winning the championship in the next 5 weeks , tough ask.

The championship will not be any easier this time round ,I'm optimistic we will get it right and play some good stuff along the way, bring it on.

Agree0 Disagree0

3 loses in final 3 playoff games and in particular his favouring the old past it wasters like Boyd and McCulloch when Hardie and Walsh look so much more eager and better than them both. Gasparotto? Why in heck's name was he not in for McGregor?

Add to all those fails his over friendly pity attitude towards his old club was psychologically a mistake.

Robinson being replaced by Bell was another very costly management error an accident waiting to happen that actually did happen, worst goalie I have ever seen at Ibrox including Stewart Kennedy in 70s

A question for some of our more knowledgeable posters on here.

I've read about the 11 out of contract players released on Sunday. Zaliukas, Sheils and Temmpleton not mentioned, the latter two having been with us three years already. Any ideas as to when their contracts are up? They're not the players we need.

Lets be very serious here. Warburton worked wonders at Brentford, he took very average players and almost got them into the premier league. He over achieved massively! Him and Davie Weir can easily take us to the top. People need to stop begging for Cathro, Mcinnes, Mcleish, advocat, smith, any ex rangers man. No more of it! Move forward.

Not sure about Warburton, he's only got 2 yrs experience.! Brentford had their v good youth policy in place before he arrived.
If we do sign him give him and Weir a short term renewable contract with salary based on achieving targets.

Dan are you for real, if we are lucky enough to get Warburton in place it would be a real coup, and yes he would have us at the least challenging if not surpassing yous sooner rather than later,as for had we ever heard of him two seasons ago, well same could be said about a certain Delia what did you all know about him two year ago, now yous are touching yourselves at the very mention of his name.

can not seriously believe some people are doubting warburton he is the stand out candidate for the job yet even the board seem to be having doubts about him as well he is in the paper saying if board want him al they have to do is phone him they need stuck mucking about and get him in will not be long before we start playing games again and is a lot work to be done to the squad before that

Gkk don't forget Ronny took over the champions with a pretty solid base both on and off the park. This allowed Ronny to have a poor start to the season and recover domestically. It will be a gamble whoever you get with no decent scouts, coaches or players maybe you'll be back to stop 10 in a row but I wouldn't bet on it😉

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 11:26:05
Jim1972 agreed. Two different situations entirely.Nobody there to capitalize on your poor start,as you say, we have a whole playing/coaching infrastructure to set up while trying to deal with other issues. My main worry is Hibs being out of sight by Xmas while we're finding a blend, they have everything in place.

They tell me he missed the Brentford team bus going to an away game so had to drive one of the family bread vans to the match. On the way he was stopped for speeding. The cop told him to 'roll' down the window before asking him where the famine was. (you see he was in such a rush. never mind!)

Agree0 Disagree9

Warburton's father left when he was a kid but he turned out his mother's pride. Even a a kid he was nimble with his feet and a football. His mum always put in down to him eating wholemeal ever day. Thankfully as he became a man he used his loaf and made a fortune in finance the dough just roll-ed in. Not needing to earn a crust now he decided to become a manager so he took a sandwich course combining business and football. He was the toast of League One then took Brentford to playoffs where with a slice of luck he would have won promotion to the EPL. Now he is coming to Rangers he knows what side his bread is buttered on and I hope we can say finally the days of Whyte are Brownbreid

Can we call that the end of the bread jokes

Just going to put this out there for everyone to have their opinion on of they would want him at rangers, Mihai Roman, 23 year old Romanian striker who plays for pandurii targu in the top Romanian league played 32 games scored 16 which is a decent return for one of the smaller clubs in Romania he's is 6"3 aswell and has some pace and skill so could be a massive presence in the box but it won't slow him down plus he is out of contract so that is another plus

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vt1jDeUt6xU

there's a clip of him from this season lasts a few minute and shows that he isn't some dud also seen it somewhere one another rangers page but I've known about him for the last few months

Believable6 Unbelievable1

03 Jun 2015 08:05:41
Could well be a good big player but we don't have a scouting system in place so I very much doubt he's even been noticed but I agree that's the type of player we should be looking at a potential target from a smaller club who if does well we could sell on for a prifit

03 Jun 2015 09:48:07
If we are fortunate enough to get Warburton in place it would be great if he could bring young Mccleod and Stuart Dallas from Brentford with him.

Don't know much about Warburton but great to see big David weir back. I think we should all hold fire and give him a chance to assess squad (what's left) and make his own mind up.

Surely one of the skills we need is someone who can make average players good ones and good ones great.

We also need to retain a small number, Wallace, miller who know what we are all about and if possible add others Mcloud

Hopefully he is the man but he will have my support

Don't know. Maybe it is time to try and get away from the 'Rangers man'kind of mentality. I would like to see Warburton and Weir installed, though I wouldn't be too unhappy if Stuart McCall is given the chance to bring in his own players etc. I have a soft spot for the wee man (and no, it's not at the bottom of my garden!)

The reason Warburton is leaving Brentford is the owner of Brentford Mathew benham is restructuring them and use the same model as his team in Denmark that have just won the league midtjylland its a bit like the film money ball Warburton is a good manager and wier was a great captain I think they would be a great team for rangers I hope it happens
