Forsythe piece in Daily Telegraph is interesting to say the least. Ashley showing why he has been such a successful businessman - pure strategic brilliance to keep his two people on board, (literally), shell out the additional 5 million to reinforce his hold on revenue streams and pile pressure on the Board in waiting. As a secondary, he avenges himself on King for going public on matters that he, (Ashley), would have preferred were kept confidential by putting a big spanner in the works of the transition of power. Glaring example of what happens if you mess with him.
If this goes ahead as per it appears to sit tonight, the new people have an imediate debt of £10 million. Not sure that any potential investor would want to see invested cash used to pay off debt. If Ashley demands immediate repayment of monies owed, can King and Co. produce the £10 m.? Would Ashley prefer to let the debt sit to retain control over the revenue stream he already has as loan security?
Next few dqys will be interesting, certainly not as straightforward as just changing the Board. The new people will have to be good to get the better of Ashley.
Those posters who have been touting the line that King will find loopholes to nullify / cancel the present Ashley contracted arrangements and even get out of repaying the £10 m. loans need a reality check. Ashley no doubt has all the legalities nailed down tight in his favour

I said last week in here he would almost certainly draw down the second tranche of £5m. After the endless false dawns of the past few years I can't believe folk almost had the party poppers and hats at the ready courtesy of probably winning the vote. There is a lot of mileage in this yet, make no mistake about that, especially when the perceived villain of the piece has the deepest pockets.

Ashley did not make his millions by being a fool. If he calls in the loans, and not being aware of the conditions, then the club go straight into debt and need to repay. Will King and co pay that? Then where does the money come to run the club? I know King has stated he has financial backing but Whyte and Green said the same. Bottom line, if Ashley pulls loan and they can't pay. Admin 2 and I am sure Ashley won't settle for anything less than owed so no deal will be made. On the other hand, pay off Ashley with the financial resources King says he has. Still means finding more cash to run the club. Not wanting to be a pessimist but the club is not out of trouble yet just because King is taking over.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Mar 2015 22:34:27
People go on about Ashley as if he's untouchable, fact of matter is he owns the retail side for a few years and we are £10 million in debt to him both because he was unchallenged as he had his own men on board, but Ashley wanted full control of rangers as much as king and when he got his first challenge he was defeated. About the repaying of debt the 3 bears offered the board the £10m interest free so they didn't take Ashley's money, but that was rejected so a would think the money's there to pay debt when and if needed

Well done DK you have won a blazer but you will need to buy a big PLUG to stop the black hole (like that 1 I am Mildred)??. Will a blue print & buissness plan for funding be shown regarding all finances??who actually has the Ibrox deeds??will & where do the cuts come to try maintain losses.??will these questions be answerd? Who knows, but they should be the FIRST questions when DK takes over.

03 Mar 2015 22:54:25
Strategic brilliance my a***! This is nothing less than corrupt practice. Deliberately awarding themselves (Llambiass and Bleach)onerous contracts and deliberately starting to draw down the £10 million that they now don't need to draw down. How bent, corrupt and vile are these people, just like the rest who've bled Rangers dry over the last three years. So your 'tribute' to Ashley's business skills doesn't wash with me. There may be dodgy dealings unearthed that will come home to roost for some, including Ashley. Deliberately incurring debt for a public company a matter of days before funds will be incoming is corrupt, possibly illegal. So fwiw, whoever you are, take your Ashley fan club and go elsewhere.

Mr Irvinepeddle your pish eelsewhere. Ashley has commenced due diligence on supplying the loan, I'm guessing that will take more than a few days. The inherent threat is that the £5 million will not be given if his boys aren't looked after leaving rangers with a financial hole for march. Funnnily enough proof of funds for an alternative loan facility is available from the 3 bears or mMr king himself so empty idle bluster and Ashleyempty words. A tthreatis only effective if there iss dedetrimental impact if carried through and this one is an empty gesture from a jumped up bully.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2015 07:01:47
The point is Laylex the security for the next £5m will be what? Only one thing is left, Ibrox. If he demands it paid back quickly or threatens Admin for failure to do so a good deal more than £10m will be needed up front and pretty quickly. I kid you not it would be easy for that £5m to go into Ibrox today and be spent by Friday. I'm not saying it will happen but the club is in sufficient debt payable within a year that they could easily pay off any amount of the £13m of the total £29m or pay off McCoist till December (approx £625,000) and McDowall till January (which would be six figure for sure) without batting an eyelid. Why? Because till then they are the existing board and can do what they want. Net result new regime come in Friday £10m in debt to Ashley with whatever demands he has attached.

The repay payment plan would have been made aware to King and other share holders. I would also say that he T&Cs would also be submitted to the AIM. I therefore cannot see anybody walking into this blind. If we try to pay it of early there will be a penalty but there will be a term loan agreed that will more than likely be adhered to.

Laxley. Exactly mate, the board never acted in the best interest of the club in excepting Ashley's loan over the others, they have no interest in our club, something that they should be held accountable for.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Mar 2015 12:58:47
Edward, there is no law that says an owner of a company must act in its best interests. They are in charge, the shareholders put them in charge.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Mar 2015 13:58:34
Disinterested guy. Surely the board work in the interest of the share holders.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2015 14:17:18
But what is "in the interests of the shareholders" is subjective.

L&L can quite easily argue that since King and 3B have not shown the money yet, they must act in a way that safeguards the continuation of the company and the shareholders investment), by drawing down the second tranche.

Similarly, it's fine now arguing about the terms of the loans that Ashley made, but nobody else was going to lend us money at the time. The board had a duty to keep the company alive and out of administration, no matter who the fans liked or despised.

If they are now drawing the second tranche of money, there must be legitimate expenses which are to be paid - with the fan boycott, and no other revenues, the board really have no choice.

Similarly they cannot stand down as per King's request, since this would leave the company without board members, and thus shares would be suspended from trading on the markets, and the company would effectively go under.

Even if they do quit, they are entitled to their contractual exit clauses, as did Swally and et al when they left. These will be contractually watertight.

Now King knows this, it's simple company and employment law. So he is actually grandstanding by asking these questions, knowing the answer, and trying to make out that they are the big bad enemy trying to do us in at the last chance corrall.

He is manipulating the fans, and most of them are too stupid to see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Your words here "but nobody else was going to lend us money at the time" ......... thats is just not true is it? There were counter proposals for loans with more acceptable terms for security, they just didnt want to give seats on the board to anybody else for them to be accepted)

04 Mar 2015 15:04:11
ED

Incase you have not noticed Dissy Patscal is not a Rangers fan he is anti Rangers anti King and as such anti the majority of all Rangers fans and Rangers minded businessmen his posts are all just bile against Rangers and Rangers fans he is clearly bored on the tims site.

I tend to just laugh at his posts now as do most posters on here

i am a Rangers supporter not a detractor

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2015 15:15:51
And again Ed, that is a business choice (good or bad), not a legal crime, like is being said here. It's only their duty to do good by the shareholders, not a legal requirement. The only sanction for lousy board members is to sack them at an EGM.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - I am not saying it was right or wrong decision, just correcting your glaring error that nobody was willing to loan Rangers money when their was quite clearly other parties interested but did not suit the boards agenda)

04 Mar 2015 15:37:37
disintegrate guy. The loan terms from 3B was actually more beneficial to Rangers if you care to look into the T&Cs. It was knocked back as it benefited the then board and not the investors, this is why the board have lost the backing of the institutional investors. If you read the article from Mr K Prior this may help you with some of your ill found info. Just trying to be helpful matey.

04 Mar 2015 18:13:41
Expat the board of any company are put in there position to always do what's best for the company first and the shareholders second, if they do the proper thing for the company there should never be any problems thus share prices rise, allowing share holders to sell up or stay put.these feckers are doing everything in reverse order to benefit themselfs, that is not what they were put in power to do,

Apologies if I have MA wrong, but if he did have great plans for the Gers I am sure he would have told us by now. The end game has now begun and unless King etc have the cash standing by I fear MA could really close us down if he doesn't get his way, whatever that is. He covered his loans with securities but to ensure what ever he does he loses nothing. Forget the club and forget the rest of us. It certainly hasn't helped that the SFA dealt so harshly with him today. Sorry to be so negative at this time without knowing what DK and his associates might have to respond I am quite fearful of the outcome. Hopefully my fears are unfounded.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

03 Mar 2015 22:39:11
Oldguy, I totally share your fear mate, I also think this dave king precession to power has somewhat stalled big time, this afternoon he claimed a landslide victory which I was over the moon with and now ashley has moved big style and instructed that llambias & leach draw down the 2nd 5million quid of his loan with numerous conditions tied in, its now no longer straight forward for king & co and I'm now very fearful of the outcome with many twists & turns left, ashley is a very clever, ruthless businessman to shake off and very harf to defeat, what's your take on this yourself ed?There's now a lot of very worried 'gers fans out there now, most definitely me included

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 23:57:24
I agree with your comments except the harsh treatment. £7500! Hardly harsh for a man of his wealth who broke an agreement with the SFA.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2015 18:18:11
Sorry I was trying a bit of irony using the word "harsh". The SFA decision was pathetic and it is quite clear they have no intention of help Rangers in any shape or despite the fact that Scottish is clearly going down the tubes without Rangers in the top league. A quick look at crowds on TV demonstrates this. The SFA have stood back and allowed a founding member club to be torn apart without lifting a finger. They are a disgrace.

The Telegraph online is claiming an 'exclusive' that Llambias and Leach WILL resign before Friday's EGM. As for the SFA, they are a joke. £7500 is nothing to Ashley. What are they going to do to Rangers now? Deduct 25 points or demote us back to the bottom tier? True Rangers fans should never forget what the SFA/SPL and the other clubs did to our great club. Malice, spite and jealousy. No doubt they'll keep on and on about it but we are now on the way back and fair play to Dave King, despite all his detractors.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

03 Mar 2015 18:47:47

It is not my field but I would be very surprised if that move hadn't been foreseen by Kings advisers.

Id expect an injunction against the board to stop that happening to be sought based on a valid but obscure legal challenge . Valid to stop the courts dismissing it as baseless and just a stalling tactic.

If as expected King wins the vote the case may still be heard but would make no difference to the outcome

I would personally like to thank both Dave king and the three bears for giving us our club back but a MASSIVE shout out to everyone who joined rangers 1st and the RST and paid out hard earned and cold hard cash to buy up as many shares as possible to ensure this landslide victory was possible I sadly couldn't in any money myself I admit but if and when a new shares issue happens I will be investing as much as I can . . Now I will raise 🍻 to Dave king tonight I always had my doubts but you have won the battle for the blue room and the next home game is 100% a full house . We are Rangers and seriously we are bigger than them and the other lot so really who cares what they try to do; 4 Divisions, Big Tax Case, our titles, 100 million Fraud Scheme and the worst manager and boardroom in history and still we survive.

Today is the dawn of a new era for Rangers I hope we all appreciate it and just how close Green and Ashley came to destroying us permanently.

Funny if we were as paranoid as the tims we would be claiming Whyte and Green were agents of CFC sent to try and prevent the World's most successful club from continuing being the Top Team in Scottish football

We are not that sad

Yet gives up his life to fight to save our club, he fought the tax case because he believed he was right, then he gladly paid the price, now he wants to help Rangers, you have a real problem with that? Tommy, I have going to Ibrox for nearly 60 years, initially on the Townhead bus with my auld man, so my credentials should be impeccable. There is one question that I have asked several times, with no reasonable response.
Why did King try to bring us down before making his move. He forced the share price down, to what end?
Always remember that people, such as Dave King, only reach their elevated status by being ruthless, at any cost, but forcing us into a further admin, would that have not been a bridge too far.

I actually respect your opinion seriously I do, but think what made the corporate people sell their shares? Chrighton going was pivotal but as with the recent easdale block sale of 450000 people sell when they see a price they do not want going even lower this I believe was a waiting game tactic played brilliantly by both King and the gentlemen refered to as 3Bears these men in no way would ever want or have allowed a 2nd Admin due to the implications that would have had. So much I think you are a clever chap billyb I think in this case you are misreading Kings tactics which as the game played out were actually brilliantly thought out.

I hope you can at least see that angle and give it some positive thought?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 18:18:03
titsup - he promised 30 million, then 16, then whatever - the point is he didn't want to give Ashley and green 30 million or it would have disappeared with all the other money, after what's happened to us I can see why some might be cautious over King or any new investor for that matter but it would have made no sense to give the 30 million to that board - if he had, right now he might be in chare but with 30 million less to spend on the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 18:50:48
I am George, The corporate bodies follow the most positive routes, thus when the protests were insigated, by King in my opinion, it was to force share prices down. This tactic alienated the corporate bodies against his actions. Then when the tactic switched to investing in shares they switched their alliance. Always remember, these people are not like us, and don't let their heart rule their head. Also, I would ask you, how much did they rip off, while King was playing his waiting game. I have no doubt that he is our only way forward, but we were at the point of no return. Don't want to sound nippy, but it is the way I see it. As I have previously indicated, John Gilligan and the 3Bears are the best thing to happen to us. As far as paul murray is concerned, I would not like him to be involved in a night out with him if a kitty was involved. Cheers mate.

Good luck to Mr King, and now the hard work begins and a good start was made by his e-mail to Lambias and his side-kick, emphasising their responsibilities. Now is the time for good financial management from top to bottom while reigning in murray[paul]. John Gilligan is his greatest asset and him backed by the 3 Bears will take us to a new dawn. And to all those that want instant success, forget it. Our current situation needs prudent management and restraint. Finally, to those that doubt my credentials as a blue nose, I laugh at the thought. So if you do not like my opinion on things, just ignore me, as I do with, in my opinion, some of the crap posted.

Maybe we started to disagree after you changed your name. Funnily enough, the same thing happened with my ex-wife.
Kidding aside, we can argue about most things but at the end of the day our love of the teddy bears will see us through.

Actually not corect paddy as usual you are talking mince

If Ashleys deals are suspect this predates the contracts signed for the loans and in Scots Law this means the all contracts would be on hold subject to forensic accounting completion. King has stated this clearly and were this incorrect I am sure it would have been pointed out by now by someone a little more intelligent than yourself paddy

Asides from which paddy just how long do you think King is going to take to rid us of Ashley? He will either legally contest all contracts or pay ashleys loan off to end the security on our assets.

But Ashley's deals are NOT suspect, since he employs the best contract lawyers in the country and would have seen this day coming. Scots law or not, business is not suspended on the whim accusation of a convicted tax dodger.

I am puzzled about the recent very poor form of Rangers (I know it wasn't that great before). By recent form I mean the last several weeks. Earlier this season we beat three SPL teams in cup competitions so what happened in these games? I think it must be the poor morale and very poor coaching and motivation, getting worse as off-field matters deteriorated. Getting from where we are to be able to compete seriously for the SPL title and then compete in Europe is a huge task. Celtic will win the SPL again this year, though perhaps not by the 25+ points they thought. They'll probably add a couple more after that too but in Europe they are no further forward. I'm not sure what the level is that we need to reach but if McCoist had started the rebuilding properly three years ago we'd be more than halfway there by now. The right manager now with some clever signings and playing some of our talented kids and I'm sure we'll be back up there challenging soon. Happy days this week.

Doiger

I think the problem has been a combination of things, the main being that most of them are out of contract in the summer and couldn't give a stuff and also the on-going off field revelations. To be fair to them, when you hear things about players in danger of not being paid it's bound to be unsettling.
As I've said before, I genuinely think that with the right man coming in now, who will assess the current staff and look at bringing in a raft over the summer, we will not be that far away from a good side. Whether or not we will be in the top flight remains to be seen. Maybe if some of the duds see a chance of getting a new contract and trying to impress the new man - you never know. I think we'll get there via the play offs. I can see Ibrox bouncing from now until the end of the season! I do know one thing - the future looks a lot brighter now that this board has been decimated. Better times ahead for the bears

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 15:12:25

DOIGER I agree with your posts but one thing you didn't include in the drop in morale was playing in empty stadiums!! have you never been to a pop concert where the venue was only a quarter full(no atmosphere)? the performances are mediocre BECAUSE they are empty. Its too late to change the past, but we can still give them a boost by turning out and filling Ibrox with noise!! for the remaining matches.
It may be too late to improve enough to get up via the play offs, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel too

It's all the usual names being put out there. Davies no thank you, Butcher no thank you, McCall doesn't bring anything different to the table. I think we need a young manager with fresh ideas who encourages the promotion of youngsters into the team.
One guy stands out for me and he is right in front of our bluenoses, a rangers man (not that that is essential) why not Robbie Neilson??

Believable5 Unbelievable0

03 Mar 2015 11:16:36
I think Neilson might be a very good young manager but I cannot see him leaving Hearts they have a good young squad and a good set up from fans to owner.

I think it will be McInnes or Cathro

i am george

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Mar 2015 11:24:16
I would install Felix Magath as the manager until the end of the season. He could get a good grasp of players that should be retained for next season and ones that should be let go. Information that could be vital.

I would not trust McDowells recommendations. He would feel a loyalty to all players there at the moment. Once the season ends, move Magath upstairs to the technical director role with the appointment of a new manager. McInness would be my shout for the role. He kind of sounded out his willingness when stating that Aberdeen do not have it in them to be title contenders after their defeat to Celtic at the weekend.

Agree4 Disagree1

03 Mar 2015 11:58:38
Neilson comes from a Rangers supporting family and I think he would jump at the chance if Rangers go up, maybe not if Hearts go up and Gers don't mind u.
Cathro over McInnes for me! I'd get Laudrup in in some form of capacity

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 12:26:40
Mcinnes would be my choice but don't think it's possible. Give it to durie till end of season then get Marco van basten in lol, we will get either McCall or Davies. Don't think cathro would want to come back to Scotland to be a coach at a 1st division side.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Mar 2015 12:45:15
Are we getting relegated this season? The appointment really has to be a long term project, it is not about a one year plan or current situation. MacInnes is definitely my first choice. He would also be available without massive compensation. He gets a basic wage and as much lamb as he can handle. To infinity and beyond.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 13:32:39
king and murray said in there interviews before the manager has to be someone that can build a team over a number of years this is a long term plan not short term so I do not expect to see perment manager in any soon
no point rushing a new manager in for it all to go pear shaped let durie take charge till end of season and if we get promted its a bonus if not then it wouldn't be a disaster wee need time to rebuild
next manger has to be tactical aware play exciting atractive football
shrewd in the transfer market capable of motovating the players most importantly he need to be able to coach on the field and in training rite now all these things are lacking in kenny they then need revamp coaches and scouting network from the ground up to much dead wood at the club surround the next manager with excellent coaches for every postion at the club and excellent scout then the manager and the club will reap the awards of there hard work importally players must buy into this we need think out the box with next manager de ision

IAG?

That would appear to be one man's opinion of a manager who turned around a failing club. In the time he was there he did not receive any monies, whilst QPR spent a fortune. But what has this piece actually said about him, not a lot. The posts after mean much more and they seem to back him.

When dealing with management and player failures facts help a lot, not asides and innuendos.

I keep hearing (Ed 001 being one of them) that he had issues off the pitch, but cannot find it anywhere - again innuendos not based on any facts I can find.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is not an innuendo, it is based on fact. It is well known in football circles and was the reason he was fired by Forest. It is also the reason he is now sat on the sidelines rather than in another job immediately.}

03 Mar 2015 11:52:05
I will need to ask a Celtic fan - they will source any 'nasties' about a potential Rangers Manager.

IAM? - I forgot to mention, one other thing that throws that blog into doubt: it mentions that Davies touted himself for the Celtic job - never ever would B Davies take the Celtic job - so really have to say that that blog is not worth a jot.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 12:23:50
Ed?

You keep going on about B Davies and his issues, not asides or innuendos - what are the facts?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how many times, it is not something that is for discussion on here. Not asides, not innuendos, it led to his dismissal by Forest, that is the fact that should worry you.}

03 Mar 2015 12:53:20
davies is not the man for the job, he has a success of failure, and his reasoning for being fired by forest, is well very worrying. I want someone new, a young manager not afraid to do something different. a non "rangers man" would be the best thing for the club, away from boring ways of rangers playing football and into the 21st century game.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2015 14:37:57

The Rangers results do not even get a mention, Hesrts winning 10-0 got barely a mention. Indeed. For once I thought KJ from the daily record was spot on. Rangers need to develop a self sustainable business. Hopefully we get promotion this season, not the end of the world if we don't. Obviously revenues will be higher in the top flight, regardless we need to live within our means. This may mean it will be a number of years before we are challenging Celtic but so be it, priority is a steady foundation to build on.

ABJABH,

Wise words, but unfortunately not what is going to happen. The reason there is a clamour for King et al, is because there is a breed of Rangers fan who demands it as their birthright that Rangers needs to be dominant AT ANY COST, and King is playing into these desires.

It's the AT ANY COST angle which always let's us down. Instead of trying to do it the ethical way, building a strong youth team, the management has been forced to do it underhandedly, by using tax avoidance techniques that get us into trouble. This is the reason Ally felt compelled to buy declining older players, he knew the fan base would not wear humility.

King is stoking up this unhealthy appetite for instant success that led us down the original road to misery. For years, everyone on here has been saying "we need to take stock", "build from the bottom", "develop youth", "do thing properly". One sniff of an "off the radar" billionaire and all those wise words are thrown out in an orgy of the olden days, baying for Europe and to batter the hoops - immediately!
