Just hope the gaffer takes his time and gets the right striker in . a good striker will be difference from winning the league to finishing 2nd or 3rd . king needs to give the gaffer some money to get 1 in . warburton is always stating that a player needs to add value and be better than what we have . people mention vaughen is he really better than young hardie i don't think so . celtic will spend money and ok we have brought couple decent guys in but we won't win the league with free transfers in my opinion.

04 Jul 2016 23:58:45
Celtic got there man on a free and he's the next big thing apparently, we have done well I'd say on a budget and an acute manager and mcparland in fact I'd say brilliant and not spent much ohalloran cost us 700k was it money well spent well i think so but next to rossiter at 250k i'm not sure, it's a glasgow thing it's not what you know its who you know that'll get the job done, do i have any fears for next season nope, what should we expect spend millions end up in the gutter again give it a bit of time and let's get our feet under the table before shouting hasn't done our neighbours any good so far.

05 Jul 2016 01:14:53
Tbh I can't see us winning the league with just signing free transfers either.

05 Jul 2016 02:15:14
Caw1 get a grip of urself.

05 Jul 2016 05:53:42
So do you think if we signed a couple of players valued at a couple of millions we would win?

Joey Barton Market value = 1mill
Jordan Rossitor Market Value = 4-8mill (Training compensation fee but I believe his actual net value would be around 1mill being the England U19 captain)
Niki Kranjcar Market Value = 1mill
Matt Gilks Market Value - 400K

All of these players have EPL experience. But we won't win. because we got them for free. I'd say your comment hasn't been well thought out. Some might say it was pretty stupid.

05 Jul 2016 06:43:52
Can see a few lads from some of the big clubs coming up, same situation as Ball except an attacker.

05 Jul 2016 07:12:21
Got to agree with the guys where caw is concerned, its not about going out and spending big money we don't have its about signing the correct type of player that fits our team and our management teams criteria, learn to trust the manager and those he does sign, because you're a big money player doesn't mean you'll fit into rangers any better than a player who's out of contract, get a grip guys to the ones who stupidly think spending big money means it will work out better, there's no and never has been any guarantees regarding that, in warbs we trust!

05 Jul 2016 07:52:19
It wasnt pretty stupid teddyofthesouth just saying what will most likely happen if we don't spend some money rather signing players at 34 yr old who havnt kicked a ball in 2 years.

05 Jul 2016 08:24:30
Be alright if we signed a £3m striker and he was jimmy white then we'd be lamped with no sell on value.

Got to be shrewd in the market, i'd imagine if there's and option that would add real quality and we could make them a decent offer then we'd do it. Being honest if we actually spend money on a player buying them out of a contract it would be with the hope their value would increase and we can turn them over for a profit.

05 Jul 2016 08:25:04
Teddyofthesouth how is it a stupid comment? Last season we had 75% to 80% possesion in most games and couldn't kill teams off . yes warburton has done a great job and yes we have a couple decent players in barton, we don't know how rossiter will play, krancjar hasn't kicked a ball in years . i will reserve judgement on warburton until he's been here couple seasons in top league yes he's done a good job and he's changing structure of the club but he's only won the championship . we need a 25 goal a season striker in my opinion and to get 1 of them we will need to spend some cash . not saying spend millions cause we don't have millions but we need to spend some kind of cash.

05 Jul 2016 09:42:15
Biftrfc Quote: we won't win the league with free transfers in my opinion.
CAW1:Tbh I can't see us winning the league with just signing free transfers either.

So we have put together pretty much and entire team and spent less than 1mill over the last 2 seasons purchasing them. But you won't be happy or believe we will win unless you see a striker come in with a value of over 1mill because. because of what? Why do you place value of what we pay to another club over what we can offer the player in wage? That thinking is illogical lads. sorry if my stupid comment seemed rude, but that kind of ideology is what got us in the crap in the first place.

05 Jul 2016 11:28:06
Ibrahimovic was a free agent before he moved to United wasn't he?

What a daft thing to say you can't win a league with free transfers, having a price doesn't make a player better.

The lads we have brought in will make an impact in the SPFL and if we paid through the nose for them they wouldn't magically perform at a higher level.

I don't understand how people still say "King needs to spend money"? Has he not spent money on the team, Ibrox, staff and the club?

I think we are spending enough and the fact we are still operating and bringing in lads shows that.

05 Jul 2016 11:40:15
quite a disagreement from above posts to whether we can win the league with frees, so let's bite
the bullet and give a yes or no, CAN WE WIN THE LEAGUE THIS SEASON, I for one say YES.

05 Jul 2016 11:21:09
Bigtrfc what about Martyn waghorn he didn't cost much and his goal scoring was never as prolific anywhere else he had been before he came to ibrox but he managed to score 28 goals for us and he missed the last few months through injury, so it just goes to show that spending big on any player garuntees you anything.

05 Jul 2016 12:16:44
caw do you know something that we don't?
coz your saying the guy at 34 who hasn't kicked a ball in 2 years won't be good enough yet professionals like weir and warburton who has had him on trial think otherwise!

the guy has bags of experience and is fitter than most of our team! , is 34 too old for cb I don't think so at least another 2 years in him.

05 Jul 2016 12:18:43
Well said teddyofthesouth! Very good and logical explanation mate! Behind you all the way on this one.

05 Jul 2016 12:57:31
In November 2000 Rangers signed Tore Andre Flo for a club record fee of £12M and sold him 2 years later for a reported £6.75M. He did score goals but I think most supporters and commentators would suggest his tenure could generally be regarded as a failure. It's not about what you spend it's surely about doing your homework, making correct assessments of the potential addition, the needs of your squad and how they will compliment each other.

05 Jul 2016 14:56:26
Won't win without spending
What a load of bullocks
Here's a current list of out of contract players. Nor sure how many we could afford the wages of but I'm just trying to make a point.

Up front
Sessegnon
Hal Robson kanu
Vic Anichebe
Daniel Osvaldo

Across the middle
Junior Hoilett
Pienaar
Harnik
Gaston Ramirez
Kevin prince boating
Nick Powell
Miguel veloso

Along the back row
Nicoli boilesen
Mariappa
Martin Caceres
Chris Samba
Pied

Keeper
Victor Values

Now I recon I could pick a freebie lineup out of that list that would spank the manky mob.

05 Jul 2016 17:32:20
It should be more about quality than cost and in our three new midfield players, Barton, Krankycr, and Rossiter we have secured three top quality players that should make a difference.

If Warburton can pick up a centre back and a striker of similar quality at minimum costs I would guess that we will all be very happy.

It will be interesting to see how we will do against Motherwell with none of these players in the team. That should certainly show us whether last year's midfield will step up and play to the level required.

04 Jul 2016 21:01:42
What about Clayton Donaldson from Birmingham? He's been had a good few seasons and think would do the job for us.

04 Jul 2016 22:15:48
No thanks. Not what we need.

04 Jul 2016 22:25:54
clayton donaldson is nowhere near good enough for rangers if this is the type of striker fans are wanting us to go for then we might as well give up on the title right now. i personally would like to see us make a move for brugge striker abdoulay diaby 25 years of age and scored 16 goals last season must admit didn't see a lot of him but what i did see i was really impressed but i guess he would command a sizeable fee. do you know much about him ed :)

04 Jul 2016 23:04:17
Are you having a giraffe? I know this is a banter page but there is banter then there is banter!

05 Jul 2016 04:43:49
3 mil for Diaby is way out of out price range, when we get a striker it will be someone out of contract or a loan.

05 Jul 2016 11:17:22
Not what we need no? Ok tell me who and what do need? would rather have Donaldson than Vaughan both play for Birmingham and Donaldson scoring record is much better infact Vaughan doesn't even get a game. He's better than what we are being linked with.

05 Jul 2016 11:46:58
no he is not what we need if we sign him we would have to change our style of play to suit him and we won't do that and he is not any better than who we are being linked with. i would much rather have bradshaw. clayton donaldson has been shunted about teams down south for goodness god knows how long and it has not worked out for him and the same goes for vaughan. we need an emerging talent and bradshaw fills that bracket. i could name several strikers who are value that i would love to see at the club. another being dom dwyer who i mentioned to ed a few weeks back he plays in the mls but i guess would be unwilling to return to the uk. let's just wait and see what happens but i repeat donaldson is not the answer not on this earth.

04 Jul 2016 18:21:04
So Warburton says he hopes to have a striker in the door this week, anyone have any ideas? i'm hoping its Bradshaw or Grigg but i get the feeling it could be a bland signing like Vaughan.

04 Jul 2016 18:38:11
Glasgowisblue, why all this negative stuff regarding james vaughan if that is the striker the magic hat chooses to sign for rangers? You're not the only one who on here have been very negative to the possibility of us signing james vaughan, why? trust our manager as he has proved in numerous times before that he's superb at taking talent that's lost their way and restoring them back on track because make no bones about it if warbs does sign vaughan and get him back to what he was at a young age at everton then fellow bears we've got a talented striker on our hands, we shouldn't jump the gun and say things like vaughan being a bland signing when in fact it could turn out to be a terrific signing, we must be patient and wait and see how it pans out, in warbs we trust!

04 Jul 2016 20:55:00
Sometimes all that is needed is a new home to reignite a player. Remember Laudrup was getting pelters before he moved to us and the rest was, well no need to tell you that!

04 Jul 2016 22:21:59
But it's a risk that might not pay off before we no it we could dropping points that bringing in a consistent goal scorer won't b as risky.

04 Jul 2016 22:47:04
Every signing for any club for that matter is a risk, all the managers say it because you can never tell for defo how any new signing will do for their new club.

04 Jul 2016 23:20:55
It's more of a risk would you not agree taking a player that's had loads of injuries and not scored constantly or not at all than taking a player who's been playing and scoring goals that makes more sense to me.

05 Jul 2016 06:52:26
This season is the one where Warbs has a bit of breathing space regarding challenging and winning Lge! All pressure on the unwashed and a great time to really give Hardie and Walsh a decent run in some big games. Qualification for Europa Lge is a huge deal for us next season! A garunteed 8 million! Then we will see what type of player Warbs and Co can chase IF King puts the majority into transfer funds.

05 Jul 2016 12:27:16
I agree it would be risky to sing a player who doesn't even get a game where he is! I think we need an out and out goalscorer.

I know we can't get dembelle type we can't afford the wages plus he was probably the best of the free transfers this season.
but we do need sum1 with goals under their belts and a hunger to prove themselves!
I think it will be sum1 we didn't expect and haven't been linked with!

04 Jul 2016 16:56:42
A top striker and a top centre back is a must . I don't care about anything else as along as we get them two . Any other loan deal or free agent is a bonus or makes the numbers . Get them two players in and rangers are very serious title contenders I would be concerned if I were a Tim .

04 Jul 2016 18:02:03
New to site, been reading loads of post regarding us needing a "top striker" I think loads of fans have been very disrespectful towards Waghorn concidering the boy scored 20+ goals and missed a chunk of the season due to injury, yes many goals wer penalties but he knows where the net is, I think we will see a completely different m, ohalloran this season Aswell, last season he was in and out the sqaud due to being cup tied so he never really got a run in the team, dnt get me wrong what I did see of him I thought he needed to offer more to the team but hopefully a decent pre season and the magic man coaching him properly he will improve and bag himself some Much needed confidence and goals.

04 Jul 2016 18:15:24
JMcD16

How is wanting another striker being disrespectful to Waghorn? We only have 3 strikers at present 1 is 37, another is a young guy and Waghorn. O'Halloran is not a striker and has a very poor scoring rate. What happens if Waghorn and Miller both get injured? All good teams have at least 4 strikers so I don't see anything wrong with trying to get another striker?

04 Jul 2016 19:58:49
Every team in the country would want a top striker and we are no different. We might not win the league next season but I would like us to finish very close at least. let's trust the management to deliver the best players under the current financial climate we operate in. In Warbs we trust.

04 Jul 2016 20:06:22
Firstly welcome to the site JMcD16. I have to agree with Biffo though us needing a new striker is no disrespect to anyone currently at the club. As Biff says we only have Miller (old) , Hardie (young) and Waghorn in the squad. Adding to that that Waghorn is most effective on the right of our front 3 means we are definitely short up front.

05 Jul 2016 11:48:01
we should have offered nicky clark a better deal than what was on the table.

04 Jul 2016 11:32:06
Some Rangers fans ( not all ) were getting a bit down when Celtic signed Dembelle,
Trust my there is no Garentee he'll be worth all the hype, there's also no Garentee he'll make it in Scottish football either, I mean we have seen many better reputated than him fall flat.

I have one prediction that I'm so confident on that I had to post. I bet the Striker W&W and of course Mcparland brings in does better in Scottish Football than Dembelle does. Warbs is no fool trust him, we don't call him the magic hat for no reason, think on this we already have a better midfield than them and I would say wingers to. Yes the defence needs sorted and a number 9 needs brought in. But it will be done in style.

04 Jul 2016 12:14:19
But that also means all our signings could be failures too.

04 Jul 2016 12:47:39
I for one don't care who they bring in.

04 Jul 2016 12:52:55
I don't care who Celtic sign, if anyone thought that Brendan Rodgers wasn't going to get backed by the Celtic board then they are in for a shock, Celtic will spend some proper money on players this summer but I'm more than happy with the way rangers is conducting themselves, our club has been ripped to shreds, plus we have a large part of the clubs income going to the fatman, it's going to take time for us to get back to were we all want rangers to be at, it's just not going to happen overnight, i would just ask fans to realise this and understand we don't have the same financial income as Celtic anymore, and we won't have until we get rid of Ashley and start to get European football back at ibrox.

04 Jul 2016 13:59:42
"Hype". There is quite a bit of this around Rossiter, Windass, Crooks and even McKay.

But especially Rossiter. An £8 million rated player for £250 thousand.

We have our own players who may just cause that other mob to get a bit down.

"Worth all the hype". Who cares if he turns out to be as good as they think he'll be. Does that guarantee them the title. No it certainly does not.

If last season tells us fans anything, that a team like Aberdeen can run them close for most of the year, then we're in with a shout to say the least.

04 Jul 2016 14:46:56
All I've to say is gluck to septics new signing when he faces Barton 😂😂😂.

04 Jul 2016 14:49:19
Couldn't care less who they sign to be honest.

It can only help show Scottish football in a good light if he does well; it may well encourage other promising players to cross the border.

04 Jul 2016 15:38:52
Agreed rafbob, I said that the other day buddy.

04 Jul 2016 15:38:52
Agreed rafbob, I said that the other day buddy.

04 Jul 2016 17:35:45
Great minds delboy ;)

04 Jul 2016 18:16:42
Thorn76

Aberdeen were never genuine title contenders.

05 Jul 2016 11:50:47
Delboy ivengot t disagree mate, celtic wage bill is far to hign for them to bring in any big money signings, imo, i think they will offload lots of deadwood, and they will also wait to see (again apu) if they get bye the qualifiers before they try bringing in any signings, if they don't make the group stages they are in trouble, i don't really care to much for that lot anyway, bring it on, in warbs we trust.

05 Jul 2016 11:30:09
it should be a cracker of a season ahead, I'm really looking forward to it.

04 Jul 2016 11:21:47
900k price tag for Bradshaw. Surely this is within our price range?

04 Jul 2016 12:02:10
Very much doubt it.

04 Jul 2016 13:17:30
hal Robson kanu and mariappa seem the most likely to sign along with a loan signing.

04 Jul 2016 13:46:09
Robson kanu will be playing in the EPL or the championship best season.

04 Jul 2016 13:59:55
Cee

I very much doubt Robson-Kanu will be at Ibrox next season. He wants to play in the EPL and there will be a few of them in for him after his performances in the euros.

05 Jul 2016 07:24:31
Kanu is off to Swansea! Celtic want him too anyway so no chance in hell.

04 Jul 2016 11:06:18
Walsall want 900k for Bradshaw personally think we should snap him up was expecting them to want closer to 1.5-2m which made it a non starter but at under a mil think it would be a great bit of business.

04 Jul 2016 18:18:48
Azzlee

Agree if that's all they want then surely it's a no brainier to pay that sure he could be improved and sold on very a better price. However I am sceptical about us being able to afford him.

04 Jul 2016 20:10:18
Agree this sounds like a go-er. They say they want 900k but that's after someone bid 250k then 400k. They may even accept a lower figure like 700k.

04 Jul 2016 22:08:20
If 900k ain't in our price range then we should be really worried. i know a lot going on behind scenes but season money alone would take that.

05 Jul 2016 11:41:20
I honestly think if we don't manage to get this boy Bradshaw it will be a loan market striker we will get, I hope I'm wrong but I think the 900k is a bit more than we can afford.

04 Jul 2016 10:48:29
Why would we want kanu his goal scoring record is terrible he has had a good euros but that is not what we need in 8 years at reading he has a 1 in 8 not what we need.

04 Jul 2016 13:17:53
he's played nearly all his career as a winger.

04 Jul 2016 10:45:50
Just checked rangers website there and season ticket sales look better than expected almost all sections sold with exception of 4 sections at broomland, 2 sections of bill struth rear and 1 section at sw enclosure.

I hope this can help Warburton to get his first choice signings if that may be Mariapappa and a recognized goal scorer, my preference would still be cummings just now but that isn't looking likely now.

04 Jul 2016 11:27:43
Does anybody know the payments situation I've had two payments taken in a week should it not be monthly.

04 Jul 2016 07:33:34
If us signing a new striker comes down to between nakki wells, james vaughan, kyle lafferty and tom bradshaw who would you fellow bluenoses prefer? I'd prefer tom bradshaw myself but in saying that I'd be happy enough with vaughan and wells just as long as its not lafferty!

04 Jul 2016 07:44:36
Nakhi wells for me. Would suit out three up top system perfectly. Big laff a minute had his chance and like his mates Naismith and Whittaker he jumped shipped. I doubt warburton would even entertain a player like that in our squad. I still think tho out new striker will be a name we haven't been linked with. Time will tell.

04 Jul 2016 08:29:55
I will take any of those mentioned except Lafferty!

04 Jul 2016 09:29:53
Lafferty all day long.

04 Jul 2016 14:03:03
I don't know why certain people want Lafferty back we need someone to score a lot of goals he isn't that type of striker and never has been. He is also struggling in his career and most importantly he deserted the club and should never be allowed back.

04 Jul 2016 08:57:22
whatever one warburton signs.

03 Jul 2016 23:58:25
Has anyone noticed that dw is not in any of the photos of the preseason training?

Seems strange hoping he is tying up another signing? Lafferty he obviously knows him well? Mw letting dw get this deal over the line?

Thoughts?

04 Jul 2016 04:06:54
Hope it isn't Lafferty as he is rotten and isn't the type of player we need. He had his chance and chose to desert the club.

04 Jul 2016 06:52:27
M3LVO, looks like you've just missed the photos of DW, there's 1 of him on day 5 gallery and another of him on day 6.
McPharland is the most likely to have stayed back in Scotland to look for who else we may sign.

04 Jul 2016 08:05:04
Yeh seen that he was in 6 but the question is were was he for other 4 days? I think something cooking on the trf front!

04 Jul 2016 08:31:50
I doubt that he was looking at Lafferty. He would have seen enough of him in the Euros to put him off. A guy his size that can't head a ball. No thanks.

04 Jul 2016 11:26:13
Big Kyle can head a ball all right wins most balls in the air either by heading them on or bringing them under control with his chest. Good player when a team plays to his strengths which our management team are smart enough to do. WRTP.

04 Jul 2016 12:33:15
Davie weir was in the photos of the team at edinburgh airport leaving for america so i assume has been there the whole time.

04 Jul 2016 14:36:32
Jedcow, I agree. This Lafferty stuff is getting boring now with the same repeat messages.
I am going to do my Kevin Keegan now!
"I would just luv it if we signed big Laff's, just luv it"
😆😆😃😃😃😀
Dunbar Blue over and out!

04 Jul 2016 20:12:15
Weir joined the group later. He and Mcparland stayed in UK to see Hodson deal over the line and then Weir flew out.
