The fact that we won't pay the money back ta Ashley is worring me, which makes me think we don't av the money ta get the manager and players we want, they the board need ta come oot very soon and let us nae what they need fae us so we can get this show on the road.

Or the board see it as a bargaining tool in order to broker a better deal. It could be any number of reasons.

If they push him too hard he might just screw them for the assets

I defo think that is the case Keyser. Don't really know what Ashley hopes to gain from the meeting if the terms and conditions of paying back the loan permit the club to hold onto the money for the time being. Unless he is trying to stir things up with the club's shareholders re the stock market listing and the failure to nominate a NOMAD and try and swing the majority in his favour.

Keyser when your company sells £6m worth of products every day of the year a £5m debt is not a bargaining tool.

Agree2 Disagree2

04 Jun 2015 20:45:53
In what sense is withholding £5m a bargaining chip? To push Ashley into renegotiating the contracts? If he doesn't renegotiate he just keeps taking 75% of retail profits at our expense. Why would he give that all up forva measly £5m? Get real. It's not some clever brinkmanship the board are playing, they just have limited funds available.

I agree Pauline, again we have a situation of DK backtracking as it would appear that he may be having second thoughts or, even he did not realise how much of a pickle we are in. My bet is that he is awaiting the outcome of the egm and the income from season tickets.
If he does not make some moves soon we will go into another season half-cocked.

A Billionaire with the best legal teams money can buy & DK thinks Na were no paying it back. pmsl not paying was the old way that led to LIQUIDATION!!. He's the MAIN Creditor who can pull the plug anytime but the Devil in the Retail & the Rangers Trademark will net him millions as he holds the onerous contract that is bomproof. The 12th of June is when DK must show TRANSPARENCY or will he as his silence is deafening on urgent issues

As I understand it. You get a loan from the bank say £5000 over 5 years and the interest is £500. You have an agreement in place with the bank for this. Then the bank decide they want there money back quicker but will not reduce the interest rate.Remember you have a legal bit of paper that you and the bank signed. I would not pay it back quickly either.

As sure as night follows day, we will lose Ashburton/Weir to Burnley or another English Championship side if the Board continues to procrastinate. This would be a mistake on the scale of appointing the appalling McCoist/MacDowall in the first place. Warburton and Weir are our best option by a country mile, not just for their proven man management and professionalism but for their skill sets in recruitment and youth development, the very nub of our weakness on the park over the past four years. An immediate and decisive appointment would be an excellent start to King and Co's pledge of a new era of good governance and vision.

this is the most sensible point made on here for a long time it's time for the piss artists of the past go and take the piss out of another teams fans for a change, nine in a row is history ,get warburton/weir combo inNOW!!!

Good post slb! I think warburton could almost provide the coaching and director of football roles with his ideas about running a club! Dof and coach 2 wages! So would make sense to meet warburtons wage demands and prob save money?

SLB) Bang on the money mate, king and Co need to send out a message of intent and quick,as you say management teams of this undoubted quality will not be available for long,it's something new and refreshing,it would sort all manner of evils, without any scouting system to talk of MW has a vast contact list not only in England but throughout Europe, a proven track record for playing free flowing football combining experience and youth,he's already spoke of the respect he has for our great club and being flattered by the approach and that Rangers only have to make the call. Well DK you could put ten thousand on your season books with this appointment, where's the gamble he's the only standout candidate please don't let him slip from our grasp.

Agree8 Disagree3

Exactly right and if King and co miss this opportunity coupled with their apparent reluctance to pay back Ashley's £5m it will not be a very positive and more importantly an assertive confident start we should be looking at from a good board that King and Co appeared to be when they were touting for our votes before the EGM

I hope they start to get their act together.

Warburton has been approached by West Ham to be next manager.

Can anyone tell me what exactly warburton has done, or won in the game, there seems to be a big sway towards him & weir, and in my humble opinion, rangers need a proven experienced manager.

Bigwull. The Brentford chairman decided he wanted to take the club down a different route entirely, warburton disagreed with his proposed changes and they agreed to part ways at the end of the season. Simple as that really. He's personally wealthy and only wants to work in a scenario where football/training/coaching methods etc are all his domain and his alone, not dictated by a boardroom. Fair play to him and in addition his apparent desire to find the 'right job' rather than the biggest wage packet (although I'm sure it'll still be healthy) makes him even more appealing for us in my view. Search his history on Google mate, he's an interesting and strong willed character, personally I hope we get him asap.

I think the delay in this decision is crazy - already other teams are signing up players for next season - pre season games are in 5 weeks or so, and we need a whole new team almost!!
I hope I'm wrong but I think King & co are waiting for the headline announcement the day before the EGM on the 12th - - another week gone!!

Spart7, that to me makes warburton very inexperienced, with illusions of grandeur, it's like billy Davis, he thinks he's bigger than any club he's at.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers are going to lose the potentially best management duo since Advocaat and his team and for a fraction of the cost. We just lost £36million approx in revenue not being promoted so what price guaranteeing it this year. I am all for a frugal and sensible wage structure and signings limits but penny pinching on the single most important appointment at Rangers in decades seems very bad business to me.

Warburton develops youth and potential in good players he can make us millions creating a team and doing as Celtic do buy good prospects, they shine like superstars in the Diddy League SPFL is then knock them out for multi millions profit to EPL and Championship teams.

Get the forking finger out King

For me the new manager has to be warburton need to get away from old players and ex managers and start a fresh with a new man whos nothing to do with us our our past a know weir was but he's just his assisted before some1 points that out lol no more pals act our club our squad need wiped clean and started again and warburton seems like a talented man and I for one wanna be watching fast attacking football next season with a lot more hunger and desire in our squad

I agree, as long as he is given time. Given time he will have Murray Park working, we'll have a good progressive youth policy and scouting network, and we'll have a guy in charge who loves football and is not just chasing the money. He gets my vote.

Gordon Waddell made a good point last night on Radio Scotland, the board seem to want a director of football and a coach and if that is the case then it makes sense to appoint the DOF first then a coach.

Pity at such a vital time for the club that neither King nor Paul Murray deem it a good idea to actually be in the vicinty of Ibrox.

I do feel sorry for Stuart McCall. He was brought in on a hiding to nothing inheriting what McCoist and McDowall left behind. Initially, he did seem to motivate the players and had a decent run with wins over Hearts and Hibs. However, it is down to the players ultimately and they didn't perform well in the play-offs. If he was brought in on the understanding that it was only until the end of the season then so be it. Whoever becomes our new manager will not have to cope with a bunch of useless, overrated flops. Had we won promotion would McCall have stayed on? I think probably yes.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

04 Jun 2015 11:08:05
I wouldn't rule Stuart out completely for the job but whatever he does next the man can hold his head high unlike certain of his former colleagues, one of whom I'm told is planning to take almost half a million in salary in the time till his rolling contract ends in December rather than doing what Stuart did at Motherwell when he left.

Finally, well done to Gordon Strachan for asking Stuart to rejoin his Scotland management team.

100% agree Blue Table my thoughts exactly.

He is for me the 'messiah' in waiting we could not have asked for a better background considering our state of affairs.

I only hope we do not pussy foot around looking at loads of applicants and lose out on him.

Cathro or Pereira WERE choices had we got promoted

Only serious candidates now are Warburton and McInnes with Warburton almost 99% certain to be our new manager by Friday

I want Warburton regardless as him and Weir are I think the best choice by far Cathro is too big a risk at present.

Billy Davies is a joke and no chance as is McCall now he was not even a shoe in had we been promoted.

The defeat may well turn out to be the best thing to have happened to us in the last 3 years obviously not counting McCoist leaving.

Glad to see Templeton's dad stick up for his son and join in the McCoist truth tellers as I am sick of DJ and Ally pals defending tohe worst manager in history.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

What about McCall and McDowell as they didn't play Templeton either. Mccoist the played him quite a lot and Templeton like the others let us down.

Why is Billy Davies a jokeKT?
The man's nocturnal activities have no bearing whatsoever on his managerial skills. He's not top of my list, but I wouldn't dismiss the man as a joke either.
