Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

It is with the greatest of regret that I have to announce to Rangers supporters that I have decided to step down as Chairman of Rangers Football Club. It is, I am convinced the correct thing to do under the circumstances.
Unfortunately, recent events have led me to the conclusion that the only option left open is for me to submit my resignation and to leave the Board of Directors with immediate effect.
Working with a Board which could rarely find consensus and agreement has created a highly-dysfunctional environment which has not been good for the Club. On top of that, there has been recent further disruption which again has rendered the Board less effective and efficient than it ought to have been.
It is clear that Boardroom change is required and I would urge Rangers fans to get fully behind the resolutions which last week were presented to the Board and shareholders.
Also, I would like to remind the Directors that when a General Meeting was requisitioned earlier in the year I, as Chairman, was urged by everyone on the Board to do everything in my power to avoid such a meeting. At that time, I worked very hard to achieve that and now I am urging the Directors to do exactly the same this time and if that means Boardroom changes then so be it.
In fact I am now imploring everyone to back these proposed changes so that much-needed stability and a level of integrity can be restored to the Ibrox Boardroom.
However, so far as the chief executive and manager are concerned, let me say this: Craig Mather, as I have said before is doing a good job. It is unfortunate that this has happened but when change does come I hope he’ll be allowed to continue the job he has started.
As for Alistair McCoist, it is important that we all appreciate that no other Rangers manager has had to work with poorer or more trying circumstances. It is my fervent hope that when the dust settles and Rangers have a clearer path and future he is given the chance to manage under conditions similar to those which were afforded his predecessors.
Last but most certainly not least, I must turn to Rangers supporters. They have suffered agonies and tortures over the last two years but they can be proud of their contribution. They did not waver in their support of their Club and as far as I am concerned they have been absolutely the one outstanding feature of this Club.
Indeed, they are a reminder to those in the Boardroom that Directors have the massive and ultimate responsibility of serving, protecting and nourishing this Club for the benefit of the fans and not an individual or any associates. Rangers fans are a credit to their Club and they really do deserve so much better.
As a manager I had to make many difficult decisions but none was tougher than the one I have just made. Stepping away from this Club is heart breaking but I will always be grateful for the support Rangers fans have given me down through the years.
I will never forget and more than anything else I wish them the Club they truly deserve.

This statement and a media outlet suggests political infighting and disunity within the board but surely they are all united now Walter has gone and he was the only dissenter in the current setup?

The instability is coming from outwith the board. It's from McColl and P Murray. So that part of the statement doesn't ring true.

Smith has come out as a requisition supporter. So his position is now clear. Has he been working with McColl and P Murray in private? If so, where's the integrity there?

McColl/ P Murray will need to make severe cost cuts. Will they cut jobs?

I find the statement on McCoist arguably wrong. The manager has had huge resource (second best in Scotland) for fourth and now third tier and delivered bad results on the field. It's clear if smith had the power he'd give McCoist more of the club's money. Which would sink the club as it needs cost cuts.

Much of this statement doesn't make sense or ring true Walter. But then again its your slant on things only.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walters statement conflicts itself totally.
It sides with the requisition ( calling on Mather to be removed).
Then Walter speaks highly of Mather and wishes him to stay on.

A total nonsense, utterly ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

N1 smiths statement is telling us the current board don't give a **** for us the supporters they are looking after themselfs and their associates maybe if you read ws statement again you will see what he is saying

Agree0 Disagree0

Good statement @1 and @2 from planet la la.

Main issue is need for Integrity (ie no double-dealings, no dodgy unknown owners, no raft of subsiduaries, no more lack of audited accounts). all spot on.

Mather and Ally good guys - no problem.

So Smith does not name bad guys with no integrity - you not allowed to say this when director - but its what he does not say that speaks volumes.

He clearly outlines who does not have integrity, and like Malcolm Murray - has left with dignity and made statement fans need to know what issue is inside board.

People with no integrity!

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe there are people on here who would trust unknowns ahead of Smith and McCoist etc.

That's beggars belief!

This message from Walter is quite clear. The fighting is from within, nothing is being agreed and money is running out. Smith said so in an earlier interview.

Its time to demand change!

I think the poster below hit the nail squarely on the head.
It's rumored the cash flow doesn't look great. This is the reason McColl/ P Murray are grumbling.
So Green is back to make necessary cuts to ensure longer term stability.
Smith and McCoist are spend spend spend merchants (kinda helps P Murray's agenda ;) ) being told there had to be serious cuts, smith doesn't want to be part of that and McCoist doesn't want to think he can't buy success.
Surely McColl and p Murray would have had to make serious cuts themselves?
Mathers has probably gone too far in giving smith/ McCoist the money and Stockbridge has done his sums and phoned Charles.

And that's probably all there is. Nothing more sinister.

Non old firm fan coming in peace. I feel for all genuine rangers fans! In my opinion Walter Smith will have walked in order that he can get support the other side, McCollmetc with the end game of getting Green etc out.
In my opinion Walter would never knowingly do anything to harm Rangers and I hope matters are resolved to the satisfaction of you fans.
The only point I would make is to encourage you fans to demonstrate/protest/ make your feelings known. This is our club and you deserve so much better,
Support your club, you will win the league and the long walk back will continue.

Good luck.

Don't expect a huge turnout tomorrow night, but we should all leave the stadium en masse with 20 minutes to go. Let Green & co see what to expect if they continue to screw us up!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Aug 2013 23:25:08
He'll be fine with walking out if people have already paid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah, everybody should just vote with feet and stay away. That way no more money going in for now. Your plan means money goes in.

05 Aug 2013 23:39:06
If a decent EPL side perform to their capabilities against an Ally team that struggle to beat jannies and plumbers then half the fans will be leaving 20 minutes early anyway.

Seriously what good do you think that'll do?

Agree0 Disagree0

This game was regarded as nothing more than a financial nod to Ashley even before the madness of the weekend and today. Bears should be encouraged to go to Ibrox to protest for clarity outside but not set foot in the door giving these parasites more of our cash. If we can't even avoid attending a meaningless friendly then we truly are f@&ing stupid

When will the real rangers supporters demand a change in the management at the club? Let me give you some facts. On who and what is happening behind the scenes at the stadium.
Brian Stockbridge is leading the pack within the club and is ruling by fear and bullying! Mr Mather is purely a puppet and please don't be fooled by his forked tongue. Mr Stockbridge is using every trick in the book to get money out of the stadium and is using several different companies to do this (fact) he is paying extortionate fees to consultants who work at rangers and using this a vehicle to move large amounts of money out of the club. mr iain morgan (a very close friend of mr mather and mr Stockbridge) is using his various companies to provide consultants and sub contract companies to carry out contract work at the stadium ( the costs will be astronomical) and funnily enough the same companies are doing work at the stadium, edmiston house, the shops at Belfast and Glasgow airport. NO PUBLIC TENDERING for this work strange! All routes lead to mr Stockbridge and mr Mather and mr Morgan, what we need to find out is how much have these people taken from the club? This will become clearer when the accounts come out, however they have also strategically place one of their own consultants within the facilities dept to ensure complete control of external spending. And meanwhile they conveniently made most of the department redundant because pertinent questions where being asked. Now there will be detractors and disbelievers and that is quite normal but please take on board what has been mentioned and think how would you get money out of the club and try and make it legitimate? Get your friends involved and over charge by many many thousands easy!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I simply don't believe this. It's part of this coup propaganda.
If that was happening smith would have said so months ago or even now.
McCoist would have squeeked as would have Jabba (maybees not).
Malcolm Murray would have shouted as would the sacked employees.
No media on any employees having been sacked so utter rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bears need to be alert not to be led astray by this coup thing. I don't accept statements in smiths resignation note or in the OP above.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good points but I will ask the question everyone else is asking - when WILL those accounts come out?

Agree0 Disagree0

The OP is correct and the simple reason you should believe him the Stockbridge ownership scam in Sunday Mail. that plus no AUDITED ACCOUNTS. Green is back as he is well aware that city investors and the more savvy rangers minded businessmen are starting to realise this is Craig Whyte stage 2 but done with a clever twist. The salaries these people are on? The bonuses? the disappearance of Green until 32000 seasons in and all they had to do was stick Walter in Chairmans roll and OVERSPEND on contracts that do not start until Sept by which time if what I suspect happens they will have fleeced most of seasons money and they already have fleeced the vast bulk of share issue money. I DO NOT CARE IF I AM BELIEVED I AM JUST SAD AND SCARED WE COULD GO BUST AGAIn so sad so embarrassing and a 7 year loss of seeing the Gers in SPL and Europe for a generation of kids THINK that's like 7 years of the 9 in a row never happened. the figure I have heard left of £22 is nearer £3m YES THREE F*****G MILLION!. we can only hope and pray they quit before too late to avoid admin again. CROOKS THIEVES CONMEN EVERY ONE OF THEM. THINK - M MURRAY AND WALTER 2 DECENT RESPECTED MEN THAT CARE AND BOTH GONE. are you smelling the COFFEE fellow bears. hope mass protest happens soon. RTID (stress nearly doing that early :-)). george

@3) Walter was chairman and he never issued accounts/ financial statements/ cash flow predictions as requested by fans so ask Walter.
Walter also never showed the deeds. Really simple thing to do Walter.

On the face of it there are two sides to this "battle". The board on one side and the shareholders wanting to oust them, sounds simple enough, doesn't it?

It's Rangers, therefore it isn't.

And it is all thanks to one person, the counterweight that is Ally McCoist. The board will most likely get round to sacking him at some point, agreed?

The McColl/Murray faction will most likely want/get Smith's endorsement which all but secures McCoist's job.

I have no doubt some of you want McColl etc in but don't want McCoist. Similarly some of you will want McCoist to stay but have no desire to see Murray back in Ibrox in any capacity.

So already, without factoring in any other preference or sentiment at all, there are probably four factions in a two horse race!

Damned if you do, damned if you don't doesn't begin to cover it.

Gaz

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'll be surprised if majority of shareholders are not with Green and the board. Keith Jackson wrote McColl/ Murray had 29% only. So the initial assumption in this post is erroneous.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 Where did I mention who would win? All I said was there are two sides, what is erroneous about that?

Gaz

Agree0 Disagree0

McColl and co are big hitters. They need 29. 9% to get the egm. If they get that and they will, the truth will at last be out. Shareholders (institutions) are not interested in who is liked or not liked. They are interested in profit. Under Green and co the share price has more than halved. They will want better people to run it and get the price up. I think if they get 29. 9% they will then get 51% at least and win the day. I hope so

Agree0 Disagree0

" The board on one side and the shareholders wanting to oust them, sounds simple enough, doesn't it?"

That's erroneous. Only 29% of shareholders are proven to be against the board. Not all shareholders are on the other side.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find there is only good will towards P Murray from most Rangers supporters. The guy helped to reduce our oldco debts, no ebt's, and put in a credible bid with Kennedy to buy the club. As for Ally, nobody is suggesting he's good enough for spfl. But like him or not, there is little reason to suggest he can't do a job get to us us there.

Aye Ready

Agree0 Disagree0

@4) Fair point, for the ommision of the word "some" shareholders which was accidental my whole point falls apart, Rangers fans, masters of the petty who never see the big pictures, or should that be "some" Rangers fans?

For those who are not members of any specific supporters group, here is a statement released by The Rangers Supporters Trust, The Rangers supporters Assembly and The Rangers Supporters Association:

“The Rangers Supporters Association, Rangers Supporters Assembly and the Rangers Supporters Trust are extremely concerned with current events at our club. Walter Smith’s resignation is a matter of deep anxiety and we trust that Walter will give supporters a detailed statement outlining his reasons for leaving.

The recent request for an EGM to replace key personnel would suggest our concerns are shared by other significant shareholders. We would therefore urge the board of Rangers Football Club to agree to allow the EGM to proceed as soon as possible to enable the thousands of fans who have invested in the club to hear all sides in an open forum. In the meantime, we have requested an urgent meeting with the Chief Executive in order to keep our members as informed as possible. ”

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problems are all in the first paragraph mate. Three supporters groups all scrambling for scraps from the corporate table. There should be one group speaking for a huge majority of fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think the groups should form a sub group, with members from each group, specifically to oversee what is happening at the moment. It could also co ordinate any fan demonstrations and co-ordinate what the fans want as one.
Especially asking the questions we all have.
Uniting this way will show the level of unrest that there now is.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there's a stage before an EGM and if its clear the majority of big share owners with block votes are with the existing board and against the requisition then that's it fizzed out.
The fans should use this opportunity to ask for 1. the names on the title deeds and whether anyone holds a charge or security over the assets. 2. All issues pertaining to Whyte should be clarified and 3. a high level honest statement of accounts and cash flow projection produced.
4. McCoists future should be clarified also.
These answers would establish trust between board and fans.
But as others have published in newspapers: can fans handle the truth?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why didn't Walter answer the key questions for fans when he was chairman? Show the deeds etc,.

With walter going I think The writing is on the wall for ally. I think He will be allowed to take charge on saturday for the flag unfurling and my feeling is he will be sacked on monday. I think we will see Derek adams appointed in the coming days/weeks after he leaves. this is just a gut feeling no concrete information to go on.

GOVAN BEAR

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would Derek Adams want to leave what he has at County? Apart from for money, of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

Poisoned Chalice springs to mind here. !

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with @1. Adams strikes me as a very loyal and decent guy. He has an attachment at Ross County and is not a cert to accept an offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 you have asked and answered your question in one sentence. Why ask then?

Agree0 Disagree0

THERE IS NO Money - but Adams will be offered 2% of rangers like Ally. but Green has previous in undermining his managers, and double dealing. just look at his success at sheffield united.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would any new maneger come to ibrox they would know if mccoll gets control they would be out the door quicker than they came through it pure revolving door sinario

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 21:12:12
Surely with Walter Smith resigning and that Green character back at Ibrox surely the writing is on the wall for Ally, when a legend such as Smith walks away from our club we have problems.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wait for what he has to say. A 65 year old guy in the big job was probably more work than he anticipated. He was always uncomfortable with it.
Although I said weeks ago if you gave Ally the Barcelona or bayearn Munich squads he'd mess them up. Still stand by that.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Ally was in charge of Bayern Munich he still wouldn't win the Ramsdens cup. He is totally inept and its staggering that some fans still support him

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 20:07:38
Mathers statement reads like the board tried to persuade Smith not to resign. He wasn't sacked/ asked to resign. But there must have been conversations regarding McCoist and my guess McCoists position is in doubt so Walter resigned. I think there are very personal reasons also, he didn't like the job and this has been a good opportunity to go. That job must be very stressful. He said himself weeks ago he felt he wasn't the right guy with the necessary skills and he wasn't staying long.
Also his former associate McColl backing a takeover, makes Smith's role impossible. It's not necessarily a comment on green/ Mathers etc,.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Simples - Green is having his way on cost cutting - Ally, the trialists being suddenly let go that Ally was keen on and some of the 200 backroom staff that Rangers employ. it should have been done in the first place to save money. Green wanted to do that but was browbeaten by the current staff - I think basically Walter has seen the light on the true costs and now HAS to agree to cut costs and didn't want to be involved in it

Agree0 Disagree0

Mathers has written Walter said call me anytime so hardly animosity there.
The chairman role just wasn't for Walter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it Craig Mather or Craig Mathers?

Agree0 Disagree0

Even Walter has to see that Ally is just not up to the task. No doubt the situation is unique and some of the issues are of his own making. Ally should only talk about the football issues and leave the bickering/backstabbing and manipulating to those who have made it their vocation. Ally is just not a good enough manager for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 19:59:26
There's a lot of anticipation regarding Walters statement. Folks need to temper their emotions. Remember, it will be his perception of things not necessarily the position of others or even the truth as others see it. I wouldn't take Walters slant as gospel. Remember Walter has had his own agenda and that didn't work out for him so he must be smarting.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

OP. never thought of it that way but I will now consider it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does everyone assume that green & co are out to harm our club. I am not on here to defend them but let's be rational. They are all business men. Ambitious men who want to make money. They won't do it illegally but will do it by trying to make rangers the global brand it deserves to be. Invest in players and infrastructure sensibly, move up the leagues and get back to the top. Attract bigger investment from suppliers, sponsors and getting further in the tournaments that matter not the Ramsdens cup. So end result is, we are successful, winning leagues, doing decent in Europe and have a healthy share value with a global reputation. CG wins, we win and Scottish football wins. Now unless anyone knows otherwise this is all we can assume. Like I said, I don't care if its green or big Jim but for them to make money, the team has to perform and the byproduct of that is our happiness and a club with trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Temper their emotions? We want answers NOW! We have waited long enough, been patient long enough, and faithful long enough!

Wake up man.

Aye Ready

Agree0 Disagree0

Well smith know something because in mathers statement he say Walter said he could fone him anytime and he hopes Walter doesn't say anything that could derail the club going forward that sound as if he's worried by what Walter know

Agree0 Disagree0

"Why does everyone assume that green & co are out to harm our club. "

We don't we have heard the tapes of the plans before they bought Rangers and stuffed Whyte.

Not one word of CL or rebuilding. all about IPO and how much each would get!!!

This is not about recovering a major brand - its about laundering someone elses money thru the books.

Agree0 Disagree0

"They won't do it illegally but will do it by trying to make rangers the global brand it deserves to be. "

Illegally is easiest - no money upfront - other people money at risk.

Who put the £22m in? We don't know - it could be the Vatican Bank!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 19:38:54
Lets get on here and back up our manager, yeah ok, if we're all looking at records, trophies, etc, on paper, ally mcCoist isn't the man for our club, but if your a rangers man through and through, and know all the ins and outs of what's been happening at our GREAT CLUB, he is the man to take us forward, the respect that man has shown us fans, and the dignity he has shown as a man to himself, is unquestionable, there's no such manager in world club football, has had to go through what ally mcCoist has had to go through, he's single handily kept our GREAT football team together as a whole, and so has is back room staff as well, so to mention, so let's show super ally we are ALL behind him, because ill tell you what, a lesser man would've CRUMBLED well before last year. BIG CODGIE

Believable0 Unbelievable0

More men would have handled it all much better actually.
Ally has been embarrassing at times, unfathomable at others and needing disciplined at others.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a complete load of nonsense. The facts are he has backed Whyte and then he backed Green. That would suggest at best he is a poor judge of character or at worst went with their plans. All the warnings about these guys were there but nobody bothered to question anything. Ally sold the first batch of season tickets and Walter done this years. He has also been proved to be a pretty average to poor manager so stop the flag waving and start thinking with your head.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute total and utter garbage.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly I want to say ally mccoist remains my all time rangers hero. BUT my love for rangers is far greater. I cannot be blinded by my love for ally as my club lurches from one embarrasment to the next under his management. Yes he has carried the load at times but I think most of us would do the same (for a much smaller wage than his) we have backed the club 100% percent and we deserve a better brand of football. For these reasons I feel the time for a new manager has come. sorry ally.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No not turning up tomorrow, better off doing it on Saturday. Can you clarify what exactly the protest is about?
eg C Green returning, Walter resigning, a crap performance on Saturday, a boardroom struggle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pointless. they have the SB money now and the timing of this proves that very point. too little too late methinks.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 I would suggest the protest should simply be a call for clarity and honesty. That is something we can all get on board with without falling out about taking sides.
The bottom line is we are never told anything and we have never really asked in all honesty. If those in charge are not prepared to answer the most basic of questions then our protests in the future should be clear that we want them out, whoever they may be.
One thing I would say is get behind the team and encourage them to perform better.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 your the sharpest tool in box are well it ain't about bad results and it ain't about Walter resigning so that leaves green returning and boardroom struggle is to do with green returning but you just turn up and protest about poor results but honestly the poor results are the least of the fans troubles

Ally will resign after a meeting with his players. He will follow Walter and then put their weight behind takeover at impending EGM where all will be revealed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Ally does go and a new regime takes over please tell me you wouldn't want Ally back for a second spell, no matter what you think of him he isn't cut out to be a manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally might do that but do you think that a take over consortium would want a s*** manager back in charge. Definitely not. Ally is part of your problem

Agree0 Disagree0

@2
Ally will leave yes he is a sh*te manager but the most important thing in his mind is Rangers!
He will not be looking to come back as manager but continue to support the fans /Club by any means he can!

The Fools who backstab him and Walter and cannot see the bigger picture should be ashamed of themselves.
SHAME ON YOU ALL

And yes I am a Celtic fan

Briggies!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think any new group being fronted or backed by Walter would inevitably have Ally reinstated. A new owner is required but as much as I have a bad taste in my mouth for saying this, a new manager is also needed, wether its a Butcher a McCall or Davies I don't know. I do know B Laudrup was mooted as a Green choice previously. That would be a gamble

Agree0 Disagree0

N3 briggies a truer statement I tottally agree and if mccoll wins ide imagine ally getting a cushy job at ibrox bbut not as maneger

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 18:43:55
Celtic fan here. The situation at Rangers is completely out of order. Do yourselves a favour and get along to Ibrox in your droves tomorrow night. Do not enter the stadium but stand outside and conduct a peaceful demonstration against these charlatons that are running your club into the ground. Jk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree.

Tam-Sir. 1873. For once

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said, very sensible post.

Agree0 Disagree0

Almost agree with you JK but think it would have more impact if the fans do enter but at an agreed time say 30 minutes in take a leaf from the men from the East and stand up turn their backs on the directors and slowly with dignity walk out the ground. There will be a fair number of Newcastle fans who will help spread the word and I'm sure somebody will film it and put in on uTube. Feel certain Bay Bear and the Bear 1972 et all will be able to organise the fans at the match. As we need to move towards our only aim and that is talking about the team on the park and not the bull sh#t off the park

Agree0 Disagree0

Protest Protest Protest it's the only way but as ever only a handful will turn up. Its as if our fans couldn't care less about the club. As much as the spivs have run our club through the wringer the fans are equally to blame for letting it happen.

I've followed this club for over 30 years and I can't believe what is being said on this site. Smith and Mccoist are Rangers men, they want the best for the club. No other group were going to get Rangers unless Whyte and Duff and Phelps said so. It doesn't matter what Mather says, those who wanted the club were never going to get it. Get behind Walter and unite as a fan base, rather than falling for Green's smoke screen

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree. Whyte had a relationship with D&P, who pushed away other offers, and accepted Green who was initially (of not later than that) working with Whyte.
Even if Green did Whyte over, he has since done over McCoist and Smith, so what makes you think we will not do the same to the Rangers support. He is only keeping us hanging on because he is not finished bleeding us dry yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post 100 per cent true

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right! Ally and Walter are rangers men, there blood runs blue! They have done their best to keep the club together with these conmen on their back. Hopefully McColl is the saviour we've been waiting for? Smith was part of the consortium of McColl and Park, has Smith been an inside man for McColl and they've got what they've needed. Is that why Smith has left. We need to be heard, we need to stand up for our club and get all conmen out!

I agree mate but I'd suggest a true representation of the thoughts of fans will be on display at Ibrox tomorrow and Saturday.

Once again we are being dragged through the gutter, I am sick fed up with all these money grabbing bags ripping the heart out of my club.

Walter has gone, we now have zero Rangers men on the board. It is 100% clear that Green has been pulling the strings from afar. Stockbridge, Easdale, Mather, and the rest are Green's men.

Where are accounts, when we can really see how much money has gone from the £22m share issue.

Can I ask how many of those that renewed their season tickets, would have done so had Green still been there and Walter gone? I for sure would not have.

Now Walter could have gone for two reasons -

1) he does not trust those making the decisions.
2) he is going to side with McColl, Murray and Blin.

I think both are very likely.

I hope and pray that this latest attempted coup succeeds, I want rid once and for all of those in charge, because I don't trust one of those on the board.

I don't want Green, he is a racist, a loud mouth, and a liar. He tried to dupe Whyte, and whilst I am all for that, I really don't want those that need to dupe people. It shows what he is.

I remember growing up in the absolute belief that other clubs did things their way, we did things the Rangers way. That way was a higher standard than the others, what a load of rubbish. But I want that belief back, I want my club to be beyond reproach.

I want honesty, just plain honesty. Why is that so difficult?

I want to win the lottery and it seems there is more chance of winning it than getting the truth from Ibrox.

Sick fed up. Will somebody wake me up when this debacle is over.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's the big deal amean what did walter actually do any way apart from sticking around long enough to convince fans to part with more hard earned cash while keeping his trap shut about the true nature of what's going on at ibrox completely out of his depth and no real care fpr the supporters one more wage off the bill which was being paid to some one doing hee haw can only be a good thing

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel your anguish mate and I for one hope your reasoning comes to pass.
How anyone can back Green is beyond me. He's openly admitted to being a chancer and a liar who manipulates people for financial gain. He's also not remotely ashamed of his moronic, racist outburst.
The thing that worries me more is the fact that he is such a blatant gob5h1te yet many of us seem to lap it up like he's some kind of hero defending the meek.

This debacle will never be over until we all wake up mate. So set your alarm clock for 7pm tomorrow night and get yourself along to Ibrox for round one.

I believe Walter smith is a man of honesty and intergrity, I'm sure there are good reasons to why he has stepped down.
I'm hoping this is circulated and you get to read this Walter, I'm writing this hoping you do.

But if you love this club as much as you say you do Walter, all we want to no is why. What is going on in the boardroom, what do you think Charles greens agenda is, are McColl and blue knights serious?
Just come out and give us the truth.
You told a story about going to Ibrox with your grandad, and the goosebumps you got, well there are thousands of us who have been on that exact same journey. I remember my dad and grandad proudly buying my scarf that I still wear to games today on my 1st jaunt.
Since then the glory times have come n gone but we will always love and support our club, a club that you are a legend at Walter, so please please please, just tell us what is going on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whyte gave the goosebumps story then Mathers gave the goosebumps story when he arrived. Has Smith gave the same story?

Agree0 Disagree0

Anybody who says anything bad about walter is not a rangers man

Agree0 Disagree0

@2: why not? Surely he could have handled some aspects differently, like his 'bid' and allowing himself to be played as chairman, not to mention not telling the fans the truth about the situation.

Is anyone who criticises McCoist also not a Rangers man?

Is he gonny explain why he came on board to sell shares in Green's IPO and why he helped him sell season tickets duing the summer because most of my pals only bought theirs because of Walt being chairman & trusted him.

If Walter only had the guts to have came in with his Late Knights bid earlier things would never have ended up a disaster like this. Still him and Ally will come up smelling of roses in the media.

The problem with rangers is its being fought over by
Rangers fans that think they know best. This club needs
An owner who is not a fan that will make the decisions needed. Like ally out, backroom staff out, anew manager
Who has shown he likes to play good attacking football.
The manager does not have to be proven we are in a lower
League let's try a young manager with no less than 3 to 5
Years experience.
To all the fans with heads in the sand. Our club has cancer
That has spread we the fans are the cure.
Sick of hearing fans on here singing the worlds most successful club song, even after humiliating defeats.

I am so close to wanting someone to establish a new fans club fc rangers run by the fans. See if this happened only the true fans would follow this team as the glory sups would stay
With sevco, ( still can't call them rangers).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's enough Ahmad, stop playing games!

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember both said the spending had to stop. Walter would not have that as he wanted Ally to get cash. Sheer stupidity.

What! There are tapes and docs showing Stockbridge and Ahmad seeking funding from money launderers.

My guess is he's been given a nice earner to stay until season tickets were sold, WALTER YOUR JUST AS MUCH TO BLAME AS THE REST OF THEM.

Sad to see Smith g, o a real talisman for Rangers. I so wish you guys had listened to Baybear you would have been in a real position of strength. As it is you really need to unite and I fear the factions within your support won't let that happen as you struggle to save your Club. RST RSA Vanguard Bears etc all need to put their petty powerplays aside and unite for the fight, once they wake up to the fact that there are only 2 important things of value, the club and the fans, then and only then will you present a cohesive united support which will eventually succeed.
I wish you well.

the current board are underestimating the power of the "fan" (which stands for fanatic), the "supporter" which means being there in good times and bad times. the ordinary working class family who buy season tickets instead of bikes for the kids.
its the boardroom who got us into this diabolical mess and from the angle i'm sitting at will get us into diabolical mess 2. coming to a theatre near you. man we must look really stupid as in sucker stupid as we troll into ibrox on rainy miserable weather to watch mediocre at best footy whilst those suits sit smug as a bug in their nice warm seats and half time luxuries in the lounge overlooking the arena. my message to the suits. don't underestimate the working class bloke. EVER. all the best wattie and our rather mediocre at best manager. its been a slice. deecee

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To some extent deecee what you said proves exactly why you are in this position. "Being there in good times and bad times. " In other words you are more than prepared to accept their crap. 34,000 season tickets sold equals 34,000 ringing endorsements, like it or not.

If not before then (and it should have been before then) the day that pathetic photo appeared of the alleged deeds, only the cover not one single image of the insides, then alarm bells should have been ringing. But no, along you went merrily boasting about the renewal figures, giving not one damn for the real issues at your club. You yourself going off on one regards how bad Hibs were. No deeds, no documents, no real idea of the clubs finances, should Hibs terrible display really have been that high on your agenda?

Power only has significance if you use it and use it wisely, to date 34,000 of you have indulged in friendly fire as far as I'm concerned.

Agree0 Disagree0

The board not interested, once the £22m has been used up in salaries they can get a good reason to sell Ibrox and Murray park with Rangers loaning them back. They can then sell off the club for a large fee and live off us supporters with a Multi-million annual rental fee for assets the club no longer own.
Brilliant plan, and if the supporters do not wake up soon, it will be too late to do anything about it.
Green may of proven he is no longer in bed with Whyte, but these statements he makes just seem to try and hide the fact he is worst for Rangers than Whyte was.
While Whyte was not capable of milking Rangers for all they are worth, Green certainly is and I fear worst is still to come.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good reply and agree on every word except the hibs statement. they were an insult to our game and our standing in Europe. I was the first to congrat the saints. sad to say you didn't mention that in your excellent reply. deecee

Agree0 Disagree0

A wee nod to my previous post about the wee mans bike DeeCee? ;0)

In essence I agree mate but my previous 'should've bought the wee man a bike' post was nothing to do with bailing on the team cause the football is 5h1te. I'd watch Rangers in a park with a team of fat 50 year olds in blue if that team was honest and well run with integrity. My guilt about renewing is knowing my family would benefit from that money but instead I selfishly ignored that and handed this cash over for snakes to line their own pockets with. I feel like a mug, especially after encouraging others not too.
I also don't think the board are 'underestimating' us at all. They are simply acting on the information we've given them; that we'll turn up in our droves and empty our pockets like good wee boys and girls.
The only positive I can see now is that what's done is done. We have handed over our cash so we can stop bleating and arguing between ourselves about buying ST's or not.
What we need to do is use whatever power we have at our disposal to demand answers to pertinent questions; who owns what? why is our club splintered into so many companies? How much of the IPO is left? What are the plans for the future stability of our club? Do we have the finances to continue operating for the whole season? etc etc.
Each time we get to this point a little more drama appears to keep us arguing amongst ourselves and this keeps our eyes off the ball. It's called divide and conquer and it's classic. We've bought into the 'no one likes us' 5h1te for far too long and it has to stop. I'm not saying it's not true but no wonder. It's part of our culture to bring the big boy down a peg or two. Let's show humility instead of stupidity for a change and work together, regardless of our differing opinions over what are essentially mute points that have no constructive value.
I do agree with your sentiment towards Walter and Ally. All the best, you couldn't save our club so it's time we the supporters stepped up and done it for us all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Deecee I wrote a piece last night that's long since disappeared to page 2, it started "scarcely mentioned in all this" have a look if you want. What I mentioned in their was even this late in the day Rangers fans were focusing their ire, jibes in the wrong direction, wasted energy I called it, from Whyte onwards all attention should have been firmly on the INSIDE of Ibrox, that yellow dossier cover was the biggest red herring of all time and would have had me in a blind panic.

But folk in here and other sites obsess, mock, comment on such trivial things that all the charlatans INSIDE are getting away with murder. Fair play to you on St Johnstone but does it matter either way how Hibs perform, if Hugh Keevins let's slip new club when its very existence is under peril from charlatans within?

Before Charles Green stepped down from his position as CEO, he had successfully completed a £22 million share issue, with shares reaching a high of approximately 90p, placing a value of £65 million on Rangers. He concluded sponsorship deals with Puma, Blackthorn, and Sports Direct. All very positive and constructive pieces of business for Rangers. Remembering also, that he did put his money where his mouth is, and stumped up a large percentage of the cash to initially purchase the club, and brought it back from the brink. Since his departure, our club is now valued at £27 million. Has had a complete collapse in the market, and other than some signings been made, there has been no good news whatsoever coming out of Ibrox. So why is Green such a bad guy, and what exactly has he done, out with some silly comments, to actually harm the club. He's done an awful lot more good, than bad in my opinion.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

@op are you f*kin serious he only got then on board because of using rangers name and also he didn't use his own money green like Murray used othe people's money and green has already made a small fortune off rangers without putting anything in and got all his shares aswell also he's the one who is now running it into the ground you honestly can't be a rangers fan

Agree0 Disagree0

The main problem is he probably sold his shares for 90p knowing that a collapse was going happen and bought them back for 45p, you get it? Is this a rangers man?

Agree0 Disagree0

The bad guys have turned out to be former RFC guys, to a man.
Let big Greeny get on with it in peace, P Murray needs to give it a rest as yesterday's man and these silly trying to grab a Plc games need to stop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green is interested in one thing - Green's bank balance. The rumours are that there is little of the £22m left, so where has it gone?

Where are accounts?

His man Mather is on £500k a year, why?

Green went because he is a loud mouth racist fool, what's changed in three months?

His men on the board voted him in a consultant, how much and why him?

The sponsors voiced their opinion that as a racist he should not be there, now he's back and what odds that he and his cronies appoint him in Walters place?

The man is Whyte in another guise, no more, no less, no thanks!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr Green put £2 of his own money into the club/company-the rest (£8. 5 m? )was a loan to be repaid by the club/company ie the fans. For his work on behalf of the consortium, he got handfulls of shares at 1p each, a handsome salary and bonus, his digs paid for him, Rangersitis the undying gratitude and adulation of the fans.

Paddy Malarkey

Agree0 Disagree0

22mil share issue no proof of that as for puma and sports direct deal mr ashley done that. remember if u were 2 beleave green he had adidas and all the other pie in the sky deals he had done

Agree0 Disagree0

He has lied to the fans on umpteen occasio s. ie addidas deal that was signed the affiliate clubs in usa. man utd. etclies are lies in a time were fans needed them to b at there most truthful

Agree0 Disagree0

Green got his shares for 1p each. If the McColl / Murray bit fails, Green will asset strip us and sell his shares in December. The deals that he struck were very advantages to the suppliers. Green had a salary of 350 k a year he then got a bonus of 350k for us winning the league. Any cost cutting he does will go straight into his pocket

Ed, can Green cancel the trialists that Ally has lined up? With them not being able to register till 1st September could we see an axe coming down on some of these guys before they have kicked a ball? {Ed001's Note - yes it is possible, unlikely though.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That would be lunacy with the amount of season tickets sold. The problem is what is Greens end game?

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 you say it would be lunacy, everything is has happened at ibrox the last 2 years, why not this?

Agree0 Disagree0

It would seem very sensible to dump the trialists ASAP.

Income is maximised, season tickets money banked. Now reduce costs to bare minimum starting with salaries. Greens first comment would seem to imply this is his plan.

Remember he will cash in towards end of year, an alternative might be to say, this business can NEVER make money so best option for shareholders is to liquidate all assets and repay shareholders. This needs a shareholders vote but he has 55% under his control so maybe. {The Ed039's Note - That would not be sensible because the season ticket money hasnt been banked, remember you can spread the cost of a season ticket over 3 months, if he does that and direct debits are cancelled then he is in the brown stuff)

Agree0 Disagree0

It wouldn't be lunacy, it would be economic good practice.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This was inevitable once McColl, Murray & Blin registered their interest, this made Waldo's position untenable due to his allegiance to these people last year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What next for Rangers? as if things on the field of play on saturday weren't bad enough, we now see the resurgence of the Boardroom Circus, with the news that Walter is about to leave amidst the power struggle for control of what is essentially the worlds most successful Football Club.
Who in reality can save The Rangers, where are the men with the purported billions of pounds and the business acumen to lead this great club forward, Jim Mccoll with all his postulating and rhetoric has not offered to put his money where his mouth is, yet every other day in the various Rangers posts I read the supporters are being called upon to once again dig deep into their already threadbare pockets and purchase more shares, if Mccoll truly is a lifelong supporter then I for one would call upon him to stop making noises and be proactive in making a bonafide attempt (even if it requires him to make an attempt at a hostile takeover) to Wrest control from the hands of the Green Consortium, and hopefully then we would at last see some peace and harmony at the heart of our great Club, as it stands our Club is a pantomime with Green in the role of Jack and his axe is fairly and squarely pointed at the base of our beanstalk, his intentions are not honourable, the people he has brought in are not honourable, and let me remind all bears, there is a vast profit to be made in asset stripping should that be his intention.

For those who are aware of my recent email to the RST; below is the original email and subsequent responses. I would like to say this, I for one will not be waiting for anyone anymore. I would urge all bears to begin our campaign to cleanse our club with a complete boycott of the Newcastle game tomorrow and a 40k protest outside Ibrox on Saturday prior to the Brechin game. The time to stand up in defence of our club is long overdue and if I have to stand on my own I will.
-----------------------------------------
Hi *******,

Well it's been another eventful day at the Ibrox circus hasn't it.
Just thought I'd drop you a quick email to see if you're aware of the views of the RST board regarding Charles Greens 'return' and the subsequent boardroom turmoil at Ibrox? Are the RST board planning any action to represent the concerns of the majority of Rangers fans? After previous conversations I imagine you'll be aware that today's events haven't exactly came as a shock to me to say the least. However, after months of encouraging others to use their power and not renew I feel ashamed that I myself also gave in all to easily. Today's news has left me feeling a bit empty. I basically renewed because 32k+ had renewed and I wanted to continue to be a part of our revival. After all, what difference would my one man boycott make with those numbers. I really feel that I have let my club down and as an RST member I feel we should be doing something to at least let the club know we are going to cleanse our club.
If we don't start now we could easily find ourselves like the Pompey troops having to hide parts of their club history and trophies in garages, lofts and cars; just to keep them in safe hands. The longer we keep providing the meals the longer the greedy will keep feasting at the Rangers banquet.

All the best

-----------------------------------------
Hi ******
Sorry for the late response to your latest 'ticket' on the system but I was away at the weekend and everyone else is on holiday so we were basically 'closed' for the weekend.
We are actually having a board meeting tonight (Monday) and this will no doubt be a major topic. I think the trouble is things are changing so quickly at present and the weekend result hasn't helped either. Yes, you are correct, we all renewed our season tickets and I could say I possibly feel a little bit 'turned over' at the moment. I still feel however that we have to as fans, keep the momentum going for the sake of our club. I am sure the current 'carpet baggers' will be long gone, but Rangers FC will prevail, hopefully, the fans will continue to see to that, I am sure they will.
I for one, am well aware that as you say we should be doing something to cleanse the club or at the very least be 'ready' when the time comes for the cleansing which it surely shall. We are constantly in discussions about that scenario and will hopefully have a solution available before long.
As I write there seems to be all sorts of fresh rumours circulating Glasgow about Walter Smith etc. There always are these days but the situation at board level is not good.

Keep in touch

Best Regards

*****
-----------------------------------------
Hi ******,

The timing of your email was exceptional. Just as I opened it tv said that Walter has stepped down as chairman.

To say I am gutted is an understatement and I imagine it won't be long before Ally follows Walter out the door, either voluntarily or being pushed.
The forums seem to be split down the middle on Walter and Ally with sadly a small majority holding them equally responsible for fleecing our club. Some people have very short memories in my opinion and some are simply mischief makers however the anger amongst fans cannot be ignored.
My personal opinion is that there are some playing a classic war game of 'divide and conquer'. The fans are the biggest asset and the biggest threat to any regime and the longer they keep us bickering amongst ourselves the longer they keep our eye off the ball.
I will say this, I believe Walter Smith is a man of honesty, dignity and respect and I do not doubt his love for Rangers. I also believe that Ally McCoist loves Rangers as much as any Rangers supporter out there although as a coach I think he is lacking ability.
I have never been more fearful for my club than I am now and I will be making my feelings known outside Ibrox on Saturday.

Enough is enough

For gods, sake this means there are NO real rangers men left on the board.
Do we need to demonstrate outside Ibrox to stop these f*****s from harming our club any more.
Since greens come back he's just knocked us for six

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In short YES, we do need to demonstrate.

Agree0 Disagree0

@op I think that's what we should be doing at the very least and to say W. A. T. P then now is the time to stand and show this that we will not take anymore or it's all going to be to late now would be a great time or tomorrow when the media world are there to highlight a protest

Ian Hart's still on the board and a true Rangers man and he's glad Charles Green is back which tells me a lot.

Why can't P Murray just stay away and move on in life?

What goes on in his head is anyone's guess. All of this latest stuff is because he wants back in a senior role. Yet he doesn't appear to have any serious money to invest. The Easdales have more. And he nodded through the huge bank debt and EBTs in SDMs time. That makes him jointly culpable surely and why he is automatically not fit and proper?

Right Walter has walked & not before time.

Ally must follow or else he is absolutely finished to me as a Rangers legend.

Totally agree, if any good comes

Ffs that's all we need green will be in there now we the fans really need to make a stand now or we will not have a club to support anymore greens been back couple of days and we are starting to fall apart come on fellow bears we can't stand by and do nothing let's make ourselves be heard green will be back in Glasgow in the next 24 hours so we need to start at the game tomorrow I urge anybody who's part of the rst and rsa to chase these muppets up to do something

Agree0 Disagree0

It could be in the next hour but he, ll be sacked
Green is a cretin rangers then, rangers now, rangers for ever. He, s not giving a toss about us at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope so

Agree0 Disagree0

C'mon fellow bears green is only back as a consultant but he is literally ripping the heart out of our club and we need to act now never mind waiting till the weekend or the club is gone

Agree0 Disagree0

But last year you all loved him. He was man who conne. I mean 'convinced' you that he had saved your 'history'. All that playing to the gallery. Face it guys he played you like a fiddle. You all sat back and everyone who warned you was a 'Dhim'. Peter Lawwell was pulling everyones strings you said. You were warned about the season ticket scam, but that was another 'dhim conspiracy'. You brought this on yourselves. To lose one football club may be considered a misfortune but to lose two is just carelesness.

in Glasgow's evening times today it has been reported although Mather "not a green man, he has been forced towards that camp due to Fridays requisition notice. No definitive allegiances it mentions. I hope not. Although we all have our opinions on Ally I reckon if it did happen Green would be successful in his personal agenda against Ally and he would be out the door.

The biggest threat to the very existence of our club is Ally McCoist. Since becoming Manager he has cost the club millions of pounds with his 8 embarrassing cup exits. This man has done more damage to the club than anything Whyte or Green has and if not stopped soon will bury the club once and for all. Ally loves money more than the club and has given nothing in return for his ridiculous wages. He needs to go soon or the club will surely die

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Another embaressing post from a nameless person. more damage than whyte and green, really? BT

Agree0 Disagree0

Well down to a variety of reasons eg my health and the in fighting at the club I didn't renew my season book the 1st time since i'd a rover ticket for the 3 new stands, I won't be back till i'm happy that its true rangers men running the club, there must be a lot of other true blue fans feeling the same way as me, ps I've been following gers since 1956 doug t. s. o

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 yes really he has cost the club a fortune with the embarrassing cup exits. Taking a fortune out the club for being incompetent. Wake up and see how bad it is and who is responsible

Agree0 Disagree0

So true. If he hadnt blown the two chances in europe liquidation would never have happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

@4. How many times? Whyte would have robbed us blind whatever the European results. In fact if wed have qualified for group stages he'd have robbed us for more and for longer. He never had any money. He never intended to invest his money in the club. Have you not taken in the info which has cone out since admin etc? Euro results were poor. But reason for liquidation. No chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 13:27:16
We should boycott the Brechin game they will be forced to listen to us, instead of 40000 inside Ibrox how about 40000 outside protesting at this abysmal state of affairs, Green and co only listen to money and if we don't spend it they will have to listen to us. How much does an average supporter spend on matchday? whatever it is multiply it by 40000 and its a lot of money, plus share prices will fall etc etc they will have to sort it out. I know this is drastic but what other choice do we have? our greatest strength is our numbers if we stick together we will prevail.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too late. The season tickets were the key but too many people sat on their hands and done nothing. Walter and Ally have to take some blame as they know the situation at the club. If they try to say they did not expect Green back they are clearly lying. Sadly the RST and prominent bloggers have turned a blind eye to this shocking behaviour.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ironically if Walter had declined the role of chairman, thousands less bears would have bought season tickets and the fans would have had a much stronger hand to play.

But for whatever reason he accepted the role even though he knew he wasn't qualified to do so. Putting our faith in Walter is definitely not the answer. Like many on here Walter must have known Green hadn't really walked away. He just isn't that naive.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 its never too late it's our club and if the support sticks together then they have to listen.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 12:38:36
Mathers appears to have been weak all summer giving in to Walter and Ally demands. I believe he has shown naivety as a CEO and weakness in return for popularity. McColl and Blint detect weakness and are making a move, a big gamble as they have less than a third support of shareholders.
McColls name is being used only but no money mentioned.
Is Blint a rangers fan or someone out of work promised Mathers £500k salary to join the venture?

All the unsettling at rangers from day one has been the usual old RFC crowd wanting back. They're actually the problem and neither smith, McCoist should be at the club nor any former directors. This was Green's biggest mistake. They have always been out to shaft green and his investors.
There's no evidence green is fleecing fans/ the club. It's Walter and Ally's strategies doing that, for no football success returns.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Interesting point of view but I'm not sure you will find much support here. Like most fans I haven't a clue what is going on maybe someday we will - hopefully before it is too late

Agree0 Disagree0

@op are you for real he got 360k wages a hefty bonus for the team winning the 3rd division also split rangers up it a lot of different company's that he and Stockbridge are the main benifactors also got 500k to leave now he's back collecting another wage which is probably between 100-300 thou and you don't think he's fleecing us

Agree0 Disagree0

Time to be brutal Walter and Ally will do their best for Walter and Ally not the club nor the fans. The sooner they go the better. WW

Agree0 Disagree0

Mathers put in £1,000,000 and therefore put in 500x more than green, yet owns 1% whereas green owns 7%

Mathers bought at £1 - now worth 38p - so he has reason to be cautious

Green bought at 1p. and does not care at 90p, 50p, 30p, 10p as always in the money - why is green not answering financial issues raised in tweets or producing accounts?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you may find that all investors who are aligned with Green have had their money back, ie 1p shares so everything they now doing Mr Mather being one is making vasts profits. No accounts because the real truth woudl hurt th ewhole lot of them. We as I have said before are the cash cow for greedy greedy men. and we have followed blindly as per. I agree boycott now or be for ever damned as cowards, and sheep being led to the slaughter.

Agree0 Disagree0

morning bears
this has got to stop now because if the fans don't stand up now against these leeches who are pilfering the last of our cash then we will not have club to support because this is the last round in this mammoth battle that will either save our club or kill it and in all honesty we must ask ourselves this question what have we done to save our club and my answer to that us nothing we can go on chat sites and defend our club but we should be outside ibrox standing up for club because the heart of our great club is been tore to shreds from the inside out and we must stand up for what is ours

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed mate, totally agree. We have done nothing, sat back and watched these men tear us apart. If the McColl bid fails, its all over. Stockbridge, Green and Mather need to go before our club vanishes.

GBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 Hang on, McColl and Murray aren't puting any money in so how does that help?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 12:49:05
Dunno who OP is calling leeches. Is it Green or Ally?

Both men taking big salaries and taking huge bonuses for winning leagues against part timers and both men going to make huge sums of money from their shares.

At least Green wanting to cut down on costs but Ally seems like he doesn't care if we go into Admin no2. he wants as many players as he can get signed up whatever the consequences & as per its the fans paying for it all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Op here @2 they obviously bought shares so they have put money in @3 mccoist included he was top of the list because of him and Walter have helped the leeches fleece us fans out of our hard earned money while they do nothing and collect astronomical sums and that's without bringing his lack managerial skills into it but I must say this again this will be our last chance to get rid of the lot them we either stand up for our club or stand back do nothing and watch it disappear but this time a hope we stand tall and together because only can stop this

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally and Wally played a blinder - Green back but tasked with finance. so let's see the accounts green, you said last year they will be better than Selliks - so

LETS SEE THE ACCOUNTS.

if green does not produce these, and answer all questions - fans should chase him away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why did Green take bonus for winning div3. if he soooo worried about costs.

Why did green offer sandazza £1 mill for year 4 - if worried about costs.

Green plans all unravelling.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 11:38:59
If Walter is to step down from his post then surely the rangers board should be trying to convince him to take over from mccoist, until we get back to the top. it's common knowledge he's no desire to manage again, but if he loves the club like he says and ave no doubts he does unconditionally then surely she wouldn't hesitate to pull his boots on once again. We can only wish. Ruggy bear.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That has honestly got to be the craziest post I've ever read on this site, he'll step down as chairman and become the manager, you can't make this stuff up!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 12:25:51
His stepping down now, right after ST sales window, is a brazen admission of guilt - he only took the post to dupe fans into thinking the club was more stable and in safer hands than it actually is. Why couldn't he just have made a public appeal to fans to buy STs? Obvious - he didn't want to face awkward questions. So instead he dirties his reputation with this stunt.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 10:16:51
OK, so these are the stark facts:-

1. At the end of last season £7m remained from the reported £22m IPO.

2. This season, season ticket sales are down 10,000/-25%

3. Costs are up significantly, 8 new first team players, Craig Mather on £500K, Charles Green and Walter Smith on remuneration contracts for their roles.

4. The 100% bonuses that Green, Stockbridge etc were on or "promotion" have been paid.

How long before the Sheriff Officers turn up at Ibrox again?

How long before an "insolvency event"?

How long before liquidation? Again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

STARK FACTS. try putting at least 1 true fact first

Agree0 Disagree0

Stark facts are that everything listed by the OP could very well be accurate and that in itself is most disturbing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stark facts has it correct.

Club is losing £500k a month minimum before Greens "consultancy fees" are taken into account.

Frank Blin is the man to get the club on a sound financial footing. He is a lifelong Rangers fan and well respected CA. If it takes the removal of Ally and his team and a replacement young cheaper manager with a good track record then so be it.

Agree0 Disagree0

One stark fact is wrong 34,000 season tickets now sold whereas at the end of January with the half price sale there were 38,000 sold. The total sold this year compared to last year at this time is actually slightly up circa 1,000 more

Agree0 Disagree0

Where was he in the darkest hour?

Agree0 Disagree0

1. how do u know these are facts, and not paper or pub talk. u seen actual official documentation that states these things are happening?
2. club website says wages are down this year & also says season tickets are up from this time last year.
3. the word "reported" when talking about the bank balance goes with. rangers are reported to sign rooney. unless uve seen the actual bank balance OR accounts are published, only the inner circle know what it is

The Policy thinking at the club that its a case of buying Ally success, as much as it takes, until success comes is deeply flawed and will destroy the club.
It's obvious.
There's a dozen managers out there delivering huge results with 10% of the wage budget of McCoist. The club can be saved and operated within its means, with footballing success, but ONLY WITH A DIFFERENT MANAGER.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That Policy is Walter Smith's and McCoists. It is deeply flawed and only a weak board would go along with it.
The guys who saved the club with their know how and knowledge and money haven't put a foot wrong actually. Where's any evidence of wrongdoing? Of stealing money? None.
The unsettled problem has always been from day one old jealous RFC types who destroyed the club wanting back in there and fans would be very foolish to allow somebody like P Murray anywhere near ibrox after what he was part of. He's not banned for five years for being innocent.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 10:42:08
Smith is playing the I will resign card exactly the same as he did with Malcolm Murray issue. But M Murray was sacked and Walter took his job lol.
So when McCoist is sacked for gross misconduct or gross incompetence (no payout) will Walter settle for the managers job? He doesn't like the chairmanship job anyway.
Neither smith nor McCoist have put a penny into rangers in their lives. They are both rich men from taking huge money out over decades. They both "love" the club as its made them millionaires.
Neither of them are actually competent in their jobs at least Smith has stated it publicly. I'm convinced in his head Ally actually thinks he's a good manager. Lol.
The appointment of a competent chairman and competent manager would be two huge steps in the right direction for the club. It's a no brainier.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's a sad fact mate but only outsiders like yourself can tell it as it is. The bears in us cling on to allegiances to staff members who best days are definitely behind them. How this pans out who knows but the farce that is Rangers is obviously compulsive viewing to more than the worried bears

Agree0 Disagree0

If one goes then the other will too as they both go back a long way & the same applies to backroom staff. what is most disturbing is that if it plays out like this then there will be no Rangers men left. just asset strippers who will proceed with their own agenda caring not a jot about the club or it's fans. worrying times.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think P Murray should give it a rest and P off.
Walter is no chairman and should step down. McCoist should step down.
I also think Jabba and KJ rolling out agendas is damaging and Jabba should step down.
No more attacks from within or without and leave the remaining board in peace to get on with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2) first part right second part wrong.
Mathers isn't an asset stripper he's given Ally more money than he should have. That's the problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 10:22:57
I don't see why people want ally out after saturdays loss, if you look at the team that played due to injuries and non eligable players then it was pretty dire but it was the best possible team and it was a worse team than many fans slatted last season. so if last seasons team was that bad and saturdays team was worse then why is it allus faul? he can only pick what's available to him, it wasnt him that got us into this mess he's the one in charge of getting us out so let's stand by him and the team, and if walters on the brink of quiting then is must show how much S**t is going on in the background that he doesn't want anything to do with it.

GEE

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's more the fact that Ally continues to play with one up and a holding midfield player. Ninety minutes was bad enough but if he cannot set up a team for extra time against part time players and run the legs off them he has no tactics at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't use the non-eligible players excuse. Ally knew this at start of season and should have planned accordingly. He is just a poor manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it right to save a rangers legend, or is it right that the rangers legend told the loyal fans the truth or even what is going on, they are all as guilty as each other it's a game of self preservation and this is ally's way of keeping his wage comming in, he has proved that he will move out of the managers contract conditions with the outburst about green, so why not tell the fans all, or is he waiting for a book tell it all money spinner, rangers is finished because these people can live on what 30 odd loyal fans give them

Agree0 Disagree0

Give us peace mate r u tryin to say ally didn't have a squad availible to beat Forfar then yer off yer head!the guy is out of his depth his time is up 1 up front against a team of part timers says it all!ally will always be a legend for his playing days but as a manager its just not there its a total shambles

If Keith Jacksons article today in the DR is even vaguely accurate, (and he seems to validate his knowledge with the quote about the board meeting and producing the foto of Walter & his Grandad), then there is about to be something of a "Rammy" in Govan. Bearing in mind Jackson`s former boss is Traynor, then the article makes very interesting reading and if leaked by JT could point to a very serious move by McColl and his team. let's hope they don't stop at merely sorting out the boardroom - let's hope they have a serious look at the management team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Has Mr McColl actually been quoted directly in any piece. All these guys could have bought the assets for a quarter of what they will have to pay now but did not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Ayr Bear let's hope McColl and friends sort the club out before it is too late

Agree0 Disagree0

Ayrbear I agree and hope its but us as (all)fans of this great club need to stand up ourselves and defend it from these vulctures because we haven't done enough up until now. but we have been given a second chance to get rid of these vulctures once and for all

Agree0 Disagree0

Agenda driven journalism is a disgrace.

i just can`t get my head round to the way some people think, I mean regarding super ally, okay the guy done wonders in front of goal but being a serious manager "c`mon". if that was any other manager he would have been hounded out the door just like le guen'. ithink ally should just put his hands up n say enough is enough. IT`S BEEN EMOTIONAL but bye.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post mate totally agree but watch out now for the Super Ally brigade- it's against their law to say anything against their hero. Footballer -legend yes - manager -no- time to go please

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 08:39:38
It is common knowledge in my stomping ground. In kinning park fthat although the majority the men that matter! at Ibrox know that Ally is not the answer to our footballing problems and most would like to see a well establlished reputable man in charge, no one there at present do want to be remembered as the ones to have finally put the knife into Allys back and finished his time at Ibrox. Green will finiish Ally there, and not just because he holds along with Mather responsible for Rangers shares from dropping from 75 to 46 pounds due to as he says too many signings, but apart from Green back now to protect his financial gains, he has a vindictive agenda to get Ally the sack due to Ally slaughtering him in the media. Once green gets rid of Ally and of course Mather, he will along with his own men bleed Rangers dry and once he achieves his devious vindictive financial and personal objectives he will be off for good.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post this guy green is a disgrace I'm not happy with ally but I'm willing to give him till jan once all his players are available and I see how the team play now is not the time for change we need a time of calm but I fear green is here to push the share price up he couldn't give a dam about us if ally wins the league with a bit of style fine if not sorry he goes cups couldn't give a dam about them they are a bonus

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Rangers shares ever traded at those prices. I think youll find they started at about 90 PENCE and are now down at about 41 pence.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green wants 50x for his shares. so now its £30m to rescue rangers, when last year could be done for just £6m.

So we in worse case than last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hardly vindictive dismissing a manager who is not good at his job, is that not just the business that McCoist is plying his trade in.

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you talking about? Do you really think the shares are worth £46? Signings have no bearing on the share price. Green is back for one thing and that's to make sure there is no EGM as the questions asked will show the complete financial shambles at Rangers. Get ready for administration as soon as Green sells his shares.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know if I actually believe there will be the new signings? What there is at the moment is an intention to sign but unfortunately the truth and Rangers are strangers at the moment. Good Luck Bears.

Agree0 Disagree0

@5 there will be an egm and green will be nowhere near ibrox hen the time comes for him to sell his shares and also if the fans take a stand now and don't go to the games then the share wil drop which could help mccoll we need to force them out

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 08:06:16
Looks like going to get shafted, coincidence all come out after season tickets bought? They know the clud is nothing without the fans and are making a mockery out of us.

If smith goes, then Mcoist the heart of rangers has gone, then what?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You should be asking why Walter and Ally backed the selling of season tickets and why Ally keeps adding to a wage bill that is already ridiculous for the income generated.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 07:55:06
How much more evidence do we need that we are being taken for a ride.
We sat back and bought our season tickets.
If we value Rangers we need to stand up to these people who are bleeding our club dry.
We need real businessmen, not gangsters.
There is no big tax case any more.
There is no reason why someone cannot come forward now and take us forward, someone who is not in it for the wrong reasons but who understands what Rangers is about.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you not think "Real Businessmen" would probably want to see audited accounts before putting a penny into a club. Just remember the American you chased out of Glasgow!

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember the big tax case is being appealed. There is also the chance that BDO find something in the asset transfer that will cause problems then there is Whyte.

Agree0 Disagree0

The big tax case is a liability of the oldco.
I don't think that Bill Miller was the answer. He looked like an asset stripper as well.
Buying Rangers now is a much simpler operation than it was previously.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 07:49:13
It would not cost anything to sack McCoist. He is guilty of gross misconduct - which equals no pay out. Pack your desk and leave. Same rules apply to us at work, Gross Misconduct means you have voided your own contract.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

OP is 100% correct and what McCoist has done is far worse than what Sandazza got his marching for. but is this a ploy on the managers part to facilitate his exit? something has got to give in the aftermath of saturdays debacle and it's now been reported that WS will quit too if the manager recieves his P45. without these guys on board Rangers are staring into the abyss imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is it misconduct to air your concerns over a "consultant". Surely from a legal perspective it has no further significance than slandering me? Ally's performance on the other hand is more like naked vandalism!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 07:41:41
The next couple of weeks will show you who is the king pin at rangers, share prices are on the floor, if any of the so called lovers of rangers? Blue knights, Greenock bus gangsters, even Walter and ally they must be worth a few quid, the shares being at 40p a ten million pound share investment would surely put green in a back seat position and then the game of removing him can start, me personally thinks that it's all talk from these so called true blues it's not about the team and club they love to tell people they love so much, it's about how much they can make from this cash cow, I see a very bleak future for rangers on and off the park and untill an honest man comes forward with the right intentions for your club and not pound signs dazing his view rangers can't and won't go forward, it's time for this joke of a saga to stop, I have very good close rangers mates and family and they have just about had enough, as my uncle said sometimes its the right thing to just walk away than to watch something you love get treated like this,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

@op true mate but it's up to the fans who will be king pin so I hope the fans want to get rid of the people that are only there for the money

Scarcely mentioned in all this or at least underappreciated is the timing and running order of events. The first thing announced was Green's return, the second thing to unfold that day was McColl and Murray's boardroom shake up. That was not the order they happened in. As would have to be the case, Murray and McColl informed the board THEN Green got drafted in. So timing wise did McColl do Rangers any favours there? I wouldn't think so.

Now at this point it doesn't take the greatest leap of faith to think Smith and therefore McCoist will align themselves to McColl and Murray, previous history with both and by all accounts Smith would not back Mather if it progresses to that point.

The next thing to happen was Green's arguably ill-timed interview throwing a wee bit of pressure McCoist's way. Is "a cup" and the league that monumental a challenge? Well if it's the Ramsden Cup then obviously no, they are presumably hot favourites for that and I would think most Rangers fans wouldn't see that as mission impossible and therefore a realistic prospect for the season. I would also think most people perceived "a cup" to be the Ramsden.

The next thing to happen was the result and McCoist's Kevin Keegan "I would love that" moment. Absolutely over the top and bewilderingly unjustified. Now that's twice Green has tweaked the pressure on McCoist and twice an appalling result has followed. Either Green is the worst reverse psychologist of all time or McCoist is the worst motivator. Now if this was mind games then let's face it, its Green 1 McCoist 0 because not only was McCoist's reply so massively disproportionate to what Green actually said but it is said in defense of a dreadful result and subsequently happens when across the entire Rangers support there is not much of an Ally lovefest going on.

There are two sides to this, and in my opinion neither are that palatable if you're a Rangers fan. One side a bit of a spend crazy, old regime, where you are saddled with sicophants who will never ever sack McCoist and will most likely get you back into financial difficulty (if for no other reason than McCoist is so bad he'll never earn you any cash) verse guys who are undoubtedly out to make a buck but ultimately a tight ran ship that won't be spending loads on players, they may well get you into financial difficulty too as they asset strip their way through.

Pick your side, lay your bets but this is where you, the Rangers support come in. Every ounce of energy wasted on the SFA, SPL, SPFL, BBC, Lawwell, Lennon, Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee Utd, whomever the hell else, is an ounce of energy not firmly focused on potentially Rangers biggest enemy, it's own boardroom.

You might not like what any of the above did AFTER administration but none of them got you there. No number of Gary Hooper goals, Neil Lennon plastic bottle kicks did this. Your OWN BOARD DID. You have gave them all, every self-serving one of them, latitude to do this by your own loyalty and predilection to finger point out the way rather than in. A foible that everyone of them has ruthlessly exploited to cover their own inadequacies or forthcoming bad news.

The mantras don't help, right now you are "not the people", right now, you have no justification to be "back where we rightly belong". Right now, you are what you are, a very highly exposed corporate carcass getting fought over by two sides and neither of them truly give a monkey's about you.

Take from that what you will but right now, documents, deeds, signed off accounts and the club's very existence should be more important to you than 4-5-1, Chris McLaughlin saying new club, whose attendance was bigger four weeks last Tuesday. You came into this season with two powerful weapons, your pockets and the ability to reason and question. To some degree you've already handed over the first one for this season, don't do it with the second.

I agree that winning League 1 and the Ramsdens Cup is not an unreasonable target to set. Maybe the timing could have been better but it still didn't merit the reaction it got from the manager who looked like he was trying to deflect attention from his own failings. And WTH was the "don't mess with the Glesca boys" all about? He came across like a 12-year-old ned who's seen too many Jimmy Cagney films.

Hi ed just wondered if you could clear something up for me. what powers if any does charles green have with regards to sacking ally?
GOVAN BEAR {Ed001's Note - it is unlikely he will officially have the power to do anything other than recommend a course of action.}

why all the talk of Ally walking away or being sacked. Why not simply terminate his contract for gross misconduct! If I publicly spoke out about my companies biggest share holder I would be on a gross misconduct disciplinary why not Ally. Sandaza comes to mind!

Three shooglie pegs one with Craig Whytes wrinkled grey suit one with ally's jacket the other with Walters cardigan.

This is the point I made in one of my two postings yesterday. It doesn't matter whether I am pro-Charlie or anti-Charlie - (and for the record I am against his return in ANY capacity) - the fact is McCoist's public slamming and petty, snidey name calling of the Club and Business's single largest shareholder is unacceptable. If I or any employee of any other business did what McCoist did on Saturday at the very least, I would expect to be severely disciplined.

His public outburst was unacceptable and was a clear demonstration of contempt for a senior shareholder of the business. If McCoist gets so upset by Charlie's comments then he's in the wrong job! Being manager of either half of the old-firm will bring expectation and criticism - sometimes justified, sometimes not. It's simply part of the job. And let's be honest, Charlie didn't say anything which quite a few Bears have thought themselves!

If Craig Mather fails to address the matter with McCoist, it will severely undermine Mather as CEO (in my opinion). McCoist's outburst was disrespectful and brought himself into disrepute. You cannot publicly criticise such a significant shareholder of the business and NOT expect some reaction. Is that McCoist's game plan? Well if it is at least we know he has one because he sure as hell hasn't got one for the players on the field!

All eyes should now be on Craig Mather. Failure to bring his manager into line will question his ability to govern the club on a day-to-day basis as CEO.

If McCoist had won his game would he have been a jolly happy chappy afterwards? Yes most likely. Would he have started his tirade against Green? Nope don't think so.

Any other manager in any other club would be removed for that. We all know it. It was indeed a sackable offence.

The thing that really bugs me with AMcC is the constant diversion from his performance as a manager. He states that Greens comments were not exactly a great team talk. But I have just read AMcC undermine and criticise the "players from last year". And back when Green said his "worst Rangers team ever" comment AMcC never exactly defended his team. AMcC constantly refers to the 8 new signings and how they will improve the team. Is it any wonder the "players from last year" turned in a crap performance with this support and encouragement?
