Steven sh*ttaker on 24 grand a week. My god I don't know whether To laugh or cry, what is ally playing at, paying over the odds for an very average player. The guy below was right it open season now at rangers , everyone will be wanting more than him to sign a new contract.

i dont think thats right £24k per week. Thats some money, thats well over six million for the five years for his services. Whats next ? Kirk Broadfoot pens a new deal for £30k per week lol.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Steven Whittaker will be on these wages because of his versatility. To sign the players needed to cover the positions he does would require a lot more than 24k a week in wages. I agree he's not amazing but he does have his uses.

hi ed? can i ask why u are allowing a celtic fan to post negative messages on this page? i find it real insuilting as theres been a few times i have posted messages that havent been posted on the page, but u obviously find celtic fans distastefull posts more apealing u will probably sweep this post under the carpet to

{Ed010's Note -firstly my friend, this site is called Rangers Rumours and Banter and is here for anything related to Rangers. That includes the good, the bad and the ugly. It is not here for the sole use of Rangers fans, which is the same rule for every other club pages.

I do not think that you should find anything insulting about that but do agree that you may feel frustrated if your posts appear to be being overlooked.

If you are prepared to supply an email address with your posts, I can at least then link a post to a name and if there is a problem with the content, then I am more than willing to contact you and advise you where the problem lies. Regards Ed10

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's plenty of bluenoses on Celts forum on the wind up and it's taken in good humour.

Ed10 is correct, he's an Editor of an open, inclusive forum and is therefore obliged to publish comments that aren't offensive.

I got total pelters off G@rs fans in response to my last post and dealt with it, so dry yer eyes What have I said that's insulted you? (this will be interesting).....Miko

Agree0 Disagree0

Not u.. the ed insuilted me when he bins peoples posts but allows we fannys like u to send posts to wind up the gers fans on here, i tottaly dont agrea with it, distastefull posts like urs shud be the posts that are binned, not the constructive ones like so many others ya get me? {Ed001's Note - oh well, perhaps you should grow up a little and not be so sensitive then? Only all you have done here is post crap, this would have been binned if I wasn't just pointing out that it is crap so you will know in future. You have made no point, there is no humour involved, nothing but whines about posts being deleted. If this is what you have posted in the past what do you expect?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hehe, well said Ed10, at least you run this forum with integrity, you should be commended for that.

And to this chap, how can you not be referring to me? You said my posts were distasteful, which would imply you're offended by my comments, eh? So tell me, what's distasteful/offensive about my posts?

Yep, I am on the wind-up sometimes, however it's part of the Old Firm rivalry.....so DRY YER EYES....Miko

Why hasn't the Ortiz deal been confirmed yet ? He has been at Murray Park all day . Possible problems over wages ? In my opinion, Rangers have made a rod for their own back by giving that Big Diddy Whittaker 24K - other players must be looking at that and saying if he is worth that - Im worth more .

Believable2 Unbelievable2

On a serious note, I actually think Whittaker has been a good player for you lot and deserves his revised contract...Miko

just on the sky sports free agents page and some of the players on there would be worth a punt, I'll name some CB that we could offer 1-2year contracts if they were willing to take the wage cuts of course and focus on playing in the champions league even if its just to get them out there again and noticed...Upson, Woodgate, Gabbidon and even strikers on 1-2 year deals who I personally think could have an impact up here are Marcus Bent, John Carew, Gudjohnsen, Harewood and even Jason Euell, I dont know if any or all of these guys have found clubs but I know that they would all add something to the squad we have at the moment...let me know what you think Ed...I know your gonna talk wages for most of them but Rangers if we qualify for the champions league could put them in the shop window and help us to 4 maybe 5 in a row...thats how mendes got back to portugal and back into the national team...

Hehe, you guys took the bait, PMSL. In the case of insolvency, this is a real possibility. You seem to think that the debt is paid off - wrong

Whyte has taken on the debt, and will write off the debt, providing the club wins its HMRC case. Rangers are accused of off-shore supplementary payments to players who are/were employed and work(ed) in this country - this is called tax evasion

Make no mistake, this investigation is ongoing with serious consequences for your club. Rangers are in a dire financial state and there's no way they'll win their case, if there was a loophole that enabled them to make these off-shore payments then why didn't they consult HMRC in the first instance to clarify this was indeed legal??? Premiership clubs are watching this case with baited breath

This is a result of years of irresponsible spending which Murray has to be held accountable for, now he's f*cked off clicking his heels and left this with some guy called Whyte. Makes a mockery of Rangers' 9 in a row, does it not?

He'll demolish Ibrox for real estate and the Gers can ground share with the Thistle

Enjoy Ladies x

Agree2 Disagree1

Some people have no idea about tax evasion and i am one of them , but i would expect this is not a problem for Rangers but if true will be a problem for the accountancy company and there again they are insured for situations like this and for the director that signs off the accounts

New Gers boss Ally McCoist is keen to freshen up his squad on a limited budget after taking the reins from Walter Smith.
And Jedinak is available on a free transfer after leaving Turkish club Genclerbirligi earlier this summer.

Championship side Crystal Palace are also keen on the 26-year-old midfielder but Rangers are leading the race.

The Scottish champions are believed to have expressed an interest in the 26-cap international, who shone as Australia reached the final of the Asian Cup in January.

Jedinak left the Central Coast Mariners for Turkey in January 2009 and upon leaving Genclerbirligi has said he was eager to test himself in one of Europe's bigger leagues.

In response to the sceptic fan who posted this i think it was mcleish who was manager who took first ever scottish side past the champions league group stage and yes it was rangers if im wrong ed il apoligise but i am pretty sure numnuts is wrong.also i am lead to beleive rangers actually did 9 in a row around war time but wasnt recorded because the war was going on so that would be another 1 up if its true.

Alright Ed. Hearing that Bellamy might be up to sign for Celtic and reading a few guys responses on here. Lot of Gers fans saying he's rubbish, he's past it, he's this and that, he done nothing last time. When the truth, in my opinion, is that Bellamy is a very good footballer. He done very well last time and scored a good goal at Ibrox also. While I agree that we should not be scared of Bellamy (or anyone else Celtic sign), I think anyone who ise honest would accept that he will pose a threat to us and the rest of the SPL and that he would be a major coup for Celtic.

What's your thoughts Ed?

{Ed010's Note - I have read several reports that several EPL clubs are interested in signing him on a permanent basis but are baulking at his £80k-£90k a week wages. Manchester City are desperate to get rid of Bellamy and have reduced their valuation to around £4m, to take his wages into account. What is for sure, is that Man City will not pay a single penny towards any of his wages should any club offer to take him on loan, so if Celtic or any other club agree to do so, that is a huge drain on any club's finances and in particular, a club in the SPL.

Craig Bellamy's greatest attribute throughout his career to date, has been his blistering pace but he seems to have lost that extra yard, over the last couple of seasons. In the SPL, he would still be considered as "rapid", so with that in mind, any player with pace is always a good addition to any squad. I have no doubt that if Bellamy were to regain his fitness, he would score a few goals over the season.

Now that I answered your question, are you a Celtic supporter in disguise ? lol

Rangers signings in next few weeks
-Khumolo(spurs-loan)
-livermore(spurs-loan)
-Ortiz(Almeria-2m)
-bartley(arsenal-2m)
-1 more forward will be signed aswell

Santa Cruz wont sign as his wages are too high and he is very injury prone. weiss wont sign as rangers dont think he's worth the 5m asking price. And Cuellar wont be signing unless the deal for Bartley doesnt happen. Danny wilson will not sign.

Davis wil sign new contract by the end of the week.

All this talk of deals between Spurs and the Gers is making me nervous. I would avoid anything to do with Arry' Red when it comes to deals. As a Rangers supporter and a follower of Pompey I'm well aware of the dodgey dealings that float around this geezer. He has made a lot of signings and sales of players over the years, a number of which have been rumoured to be a bit suspect. He's always there when financial scandles in football are concerned and has also had a bit of form with the taxman too. It wasn't so long ago (2007) that Rangers got dragged into unsavoury stories when we signed Amdy Faye from the toon who had went there from Portsmouth when Arry was in charge. Turned out the original transfer from Pompey to the Toon was less than transparent. I'd sooner get palyers from Del Boy and Rodney to be honest.

Been frustrating transfer window so for Rangers fans but with the potential signing of Ortiz I think (and hope) that things start to pick up. David Goodwillie deal is far from dead or finished, things have certainly cooled but expect Rangers to return with a new improved offer. Khumalo and Livermore linked, wouldn't mind Khumalo in all honesty had a solid WC last year and could flourish at Ibrox not so keen on Livermore would prefer a more dominant, enforcer type of CM. I am gutted that we have offered Whittaker a 4th Contract which he has signed. Fair enough if he was offered peanuts but the 3rd offer was £20k which he rejected
He is an average player who is versatile that equates to £10-15k max If we offered £12k which was double and he rejected it he should get tae F***.
He is hardly a Jelavic, McGregor or Steve Davis so to act like he is during negotiations riles me - he got skinned time and again from izadaftie and davie templeton to name a cpl
I hope this new boy (Ortiz) who can play either side and as a wing back or winger relegates s**ttaker to bench and we punt him in January for a cpl of million.
Ideally I would have signed Ortiz as a replacement for £500k and swapped s**ttaker with Kenny Miller who would run through brick walls for club and would set up all sorts for Jela not to mention the old firm goals he brings, forget about Badwillie and use cash saved to get King Carlos back.
Gwak1873

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Name some more that skinned him u can't, yes he was skinned a few times but he also set up alot of chances with his runs forward and also he had a few bad games so what davis was s**te apart from the last 7 or 8 games of season but u would give him a new contract so where's the difference and I have already said on this site SUPER ALLY gave him his new contract if he didn't think he was worth it he would have sold him or let him see out his contract so SUPER ALLY must like him as a player so I will trust him rather than u

Agree2 Disagree2

The first 2 contract offers he turned down was due to money and 3yr contract. The other time he turned it down was down to how many years that was on offer.

Agree2 Disagree0

Gwak1873 everything is a matter of opinion i agree 16grand a week player but coistys looking at players to be versatile ie playing different positions he can do that and all the players that come in this year imo will be able to do that 4iar my friend but it will be close again if
unless we rotate players early doors of league & sfa cup big rab by the way

how many would agree that bougy will stay then rangers will claim another great coup in the newspapers?whitts, mcgregor, davis and bougy were never gonna leave in the first place.no actual bids have been made for any of them in the first place except from bursaspor for the 25 grand a week defender, all craig has done is secure a bigger transfer fee IF anybody comes in for them, with jelavic receiving less than half of what these guys are now getting i would expect his agent (and others)chapping mr whytes door quite soon, remember high wages were a part of the reason the club got into the mess it was in.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

To be honest big jella is using us as a stepping stone he is to good to ply his trade in the sp hell. good luck to him i hope he bangs them in this season so we get plenty for him.

danny hated playing for the gers, he is a diehard celtic fan and couldnt have got away from ibrox quick enough. There is not even the slightest chance he is coming back.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Wot a load of p**h wilson stated earlier in the year when he was linked to the dark side that he would never play for them as he had spent so long with rangers he may well have supported them as a youngster but things change

Agree1 Disagree0

Load of rubbish. There's a picture I have on my wall when big Jig scored the equaliser at Celtic Park last January, Danny Wilson is right behind him, jumping all over him and the look of joy on his face there dismisses this garbage you've written. The lad had the chance to move to a stronger team, making more money and training with and playing against better players which will improve him no end. So if that makes him a sell out that couldn't get away quick enough in your eyes then I ask this, wouldn't you have done the same? Course you would. I wished him all the best at the time and still do. He will go on to be a great centre half for Liverpool and Scotland, and if that means coming back to Ibrox for a year, I'd be delighted. What you think ed?

{Ed010's Note -in the modern era, most footballers go where the money is, regardless of who they or their family support or supported. Danny Wilson had the chance to move to Liverpool and he decided that it was the right move for him. Given the chance to return to Rangers, I would think that he would jump at the chance. For anyone to suggest that he wouldn't, simply because he is a Celtic fan, is totally naive in my opinion and they don't undertand the mentality of the modern day footballer. If Danny Wilson was such a "diehard" Celtic fan, he would never have agreed to join Rangers, let alone play for us, if he was filled with such deep rooted hatred. The fact that he did, suggests that the arguement is deeply flawed.

Players I would sign would be:

Foster
Reynolds
Bedoya
Juanma
Goodwillie
Frings
Khumalo
Bartley

Thought Foster did well last season for us, always rated Reynolds and think he d be a good signing at CB, did a bit of homework and Bedoya looks a real player, same as Oritz, Goodwillie even though I'd keep Lafferty and Jela as first choice pairing, still hoping for Frings even though I know it won't happen haha, I rated Khumalo when he was at the WC and say no more about Bartley, as much as I like Wallace 3M is far to much for him. Ed, do you think Kyle walker will be a first team player next season because he looks a great young prospect.

If he was available for a loan like last season at villa and qpr he would be a great signing.

Also I thought if he was a first team regular is there any chance we could get Hutton back. I heard rumours that he fell out with redknapp and that they were looking to sell but still owed us some money

TrueBlue96

{Ed010's Note -I agree with you about Kyle Walker being a good loan signing but given his performances on loan at Aston Villa, I'm sure there will be many suitors in the EPL, as well as the Championship.

The Spurs editor was telling me earlier, that he thought that Alan Hutton, was Rangers bound. No official source on that view but just the word on the street as it were. Personally, I think wages could be a stumbling block, so if it were a possibility, then Hutton would need to come for his "love" of Rangers and not for the "love" of money.

Cheers Ed, hope this is true. Do you think Livermore and Khumalo would be good addition?
I just feel that there are better players out there to loan from the EPL. Is it true that rangers tried to sign Stuttgart last year because i'm sure I read Durrant say something about this in the paper.

TrueBlue96

{Ed010's Note -if I may refer to the conversation with the Spurs Ed, he was not overly impressed with either of them. He thinks that Livermore is the better prospect but who really knows, the Khumalo guy could turn out to be another Kyle Bartley. In reality, I just don't know if either of them, are so much better than the youth players that we already have. I do think that there are better "loan" targets out there but as always, getting them here may represent more of a problem.

Agree1 Disagree0

Would cancel out a move for big Bartley, imo, and that would be a shame. I think we can afford to wait until he proves his fitness, and then rely on Arsene giving us the green light. Better the devil you know, ed ?

{Ed010's Note -as I said my friend, it's only the word on the street around White Hart Lane and may just be like most other rumours, without substance. Personally, even if Hutton did come, I could still see a place for Kyle Bartley in our team.

Rangers could do a lot worse than take Gary Kenneth and play him alongside big Davie Weir, so that the Big Yin could iron out GK's deficiencies. Get shot of Boughie and release some cash for Goodwillie and get Davis a decent 5 year contract.
Should also have bid for Shane Long from Reading or Mickaill-Smith to replace that tube Lafferty alongside Jelavic.
My team would be:
Macgregor
Edu (def. not a midfielder - lacks pace&awareness)
Kenneth
Weir
Papac
Whittaker (obviously a midfielder wasted at R/B)
Davis
Naismith
Long/Mickaill-Smith
Jelavic
Wylde

Back-ups
Alexander (G/K)
Foster
Ness
Fleck
McCulloch

Also need to think long-term about LB - Papac wont last forever.

I see where you are coming from about Kenneth but how slow would our defence be and to be honest I think Kenneth just isn't good enough. A better player IMO is Mark Reynolds.
Getting rid of Bougherra would b a mistake IMO. Our squad is small enough without selling our best cb. I say let him run his contract out or see if he makes a u turn and signs a new contract.
Shane long is estimated at around £10 by reading and CMS has signed fog Brighton.
Also I'm sick of people slagging off Lafferty. He's a diehard ger and gives 100% every game. He was looking great up top with Jelavic because that's where he actually plays. I agree with your point about Edu but I would like to see us give Cole a chance as he looks a great young talent. Also Whittaker cannot defend and is slightly better at going forward. Great shout about Naismith in the middle of the park, he would be perfect alongside Davis.

Garry Kennith. You must be taking the piss. He is utter rubbish and the only reason he is playing is because his size. I played against him a number of times when I was playing football and he was junk then and not much better now. He is simply a big clubber and any decent forward would take him to the cleaners. You must be one of the ones who is supporting the Wallace move also.

Whittaker wasted at rb ur having a laugh he is shi#e he can defend

Agree1 Disagree0

Gary Kenneth Are you seriously havin' a laugh? He is just as bad as Zander Diamond and possibly a bigger die-hard Timothy than Zander Diamond. And Makail-Smith has signed for Brighton and Shane Long is a dumpling who had one good season. You should do some research before you post gumph Timothy

Garry fecking Kenneth :D hope he signs for you lot and no chance of mckail smith who signed for brighton and long who is valued at 7 million :D:D

Not too sure wether it will happen or not but at some point the walls of sanity will come crashing down around Neil lennon and he will lose the plot. He will then take it out on the players who will hold a revolt. I predicted Christmas last year, hopefully I was a year too early.

I think it may have already happened when they signed Jon Barns.

Daryl Murphy would not want to play for the Champs. He would be best staying at the Chumps and slogging it out for one of the cups...

GO AWAY, Its a shame you cant log in to this and get rid of these plebs.

Go comment on your finances and the 5000 players you have in your squad and how you are going to afford them all with no champs league money. Or go and talk about how all your players are 20M RATED wen their not.

BOLT

Anyone agree??

Believable11 Unbelievable2

In fairness, regardless of whom we support we are all Football fans. God forbid, should anyone wish to pass comment on a team they don't support..Same with this pish that if a fellow Bear posts a logical opinion that doesn't tie in with the majority of opinions they are classed as a Celtic supporter or told to eff off.

Aye, they should worry about their own clubs affairs but ffs chaps, grow up.

us bears were very rightly worried at the lack of transfer movement but by the fact that we knew nothing of the transfer until he arrived at murray park would suggest that rangers are doing a lot behind the scenes, remember, newspapers don't know everything.

STV web site: news confirms the Spanish boy 29 year old, plays left or right wing, manager comments that they will need 3 players to replace him so he must be a good yin, ally would not make him his first signing if not. Like a said early Durrant in the Times said core plays secured and at least one signing this wk, looks like it could be done tonight

Also sky sports new web sight confirms Harry Rednap interview saying he has offered 2 players to rangers centre back and centre mid for season long loan, so that could be bartley out the window, loved the big guy but down south the promising youths are everywere, this boy would not be at spurs if he wasnt good

So that could be us with 3 new players just like that and we've re signed 5 of last year squad and if davis and weir sign that 7 of last year squad so all you lot that slated the new man up stairs i would hope you will lay right off him now.

All we need now is keep hold of The best striker in scotland dont even need to say his name and get bougi to stop his nonsense and sign up for the cause so we can whip the manky mob all over again this year.

Add a few more players mabey wallace and cuellar and they might as well put our name on the treble ha ha ha, hope you timothys are reading this. WATP
