05 Jul 2017 20:52:04
Gutted. Not much else to be said, I am out in Cyprus for a while and I was excited at the prospect of watching Rangers play limassol! 😡

Done and dusted, still right behind the team and looking forward to (hoping for) a massively improved league season.

All you can do is move on with it and hope for improvement, Pedro is on thin ice and needs to keep his opinions to himself and focus on doing what he says he wants.

05 Jul 2017 21:25:19
We must do everything we can to better this team. Yes we can bring Players in BUT one thing I think we should do is give Beerman his chance at LB! This would make the decision about having Wallace as Captain clear. Even if Pedro sticks with Wallace he should still change the Captain and prob give it to Alves. Like I said we must do everything we can and I know changing the Captain wouldn't make a huge difference in terms of the way we play but I do think that it would have a positive effect. Wallace just doesn't seem to posses the type of character required and I also think he would take it on the chin and not react in a way that could effect the Squad.

05 Jul 2017 21:51:33
Good post Rafbob, and sorry you won't see the team in Cyprus. I say time to move on now and get behind the manager and team. His card has been marked and he has taken full back responsibility and apologised. As disappointing as it is we need to get over it.

05 Jul 2017 22:50:23
Totally disagree with this. Beerman is no where near ready for first team football imo. And same for bates. We're underestimating our team and the pressure involved to play for us. It takes a special kind of player to be regarded as a good player for us and they Jus don't have it. Yet anyway.

06 Jul 2017 00:07:12
Bates will never be good enough. he's rank rotten.

06 Jul 2017 01:48:23
Please explain why Bates is rank rotten?

06 Jul 2017 03:19:53
Beerman might not be ready but Wallace has shown that he is out of his depth in the top league and he is never a captain. His overlapping runs are seldom seen and defensively he is poor. He needs to be replaced as does Tavernier. Two good quality fullbacks that can tackle are needed and quick!

06 Jul 2017 09:06:19
TOM, you're one of the guys that Dave King was referring to when he explained it is only the supporters he listens to.

Nobody cares what you good time fans think - get behind our team or find another that can meet your fairytale expectations

06 Jul 2017 14:41:04
Alves would be the obvious choice if we were to appoint a new captain loads of experience at club and international level.
Ryan Jack would be another contender or Kenny Miller.

06 Jul 2017 14:49:47
If we are going to give Beerman his chance at LB we should be looking to give Hodson or McCrorie a starting slot at RB.

06 Jul 2017 14:50:27
Beerman must be given his chance and a decent one at that! Want to see him getting a good run.
Also want to see us moving Players on, even if its by way of loans which in some cases I think would be the best way to go. Players like Dodoo and poss Holt imo would be better off getting a loan move as I think they may actually become valuable assets. With the guys we have brought in I can't see them getting much game time. Pedro does seem to like Holt but with Pena Nico Dorrans and Windass in front of him maybe best for him to get matches elswhere as for Dodoo he's well down pecking order with Miller Herrera Morelos ahead of him and prob Wags if he stays.
We need to move on Wags tho and also a few others like Windass Crooks Forrester O'halloran and Kiernan and hopefully the likes of Barjonas and Hardie will be utilised.
I know we have spent a few bob but once we move on certain Players which be it Transfers or loans could be a total of 8-9 Players we should really think about trying to bring in a Quality LW. Dalcio may turn out to be a great Player but we will definitely need someone who can create chances! A player with ability to take players on, but we will either have to shell out anything between 4-6m or get a Player on a free and pay top wages.
Think after the Euro result we are all worried BUT it could just be a matter of TIME. Out of this team my biggest concerns are RB and LW.
Fods. Gk
Tavs. Rb
Alves. Ch
Cardoso. Ch
Beerman. Lb
Jack/ Rossiter. Cdm
Candieas. Rw
Dorrans. Cm
Pena. Cm
Dalcio. Lw
Herrera/ Morelos or Miller. St

05 Jul 2017 20:23:34
What do you see in pedro that gives any hope he can get it right. Tactics cluless from his first game in charge till last night. Slow predictable and a team that still can't defend. No better and probably worse than under warburton. Time to realise he is no use.

05 jul 2017 20:09:44
i didn't know there was so many crystal balls in scotland.

lets all calm down and get behind the team, . honestly rangers fans are so critical.

ok the result was terrible, but it's done now, let's not keep the barrage of doom and gloom going, the team needs our support.

follow follow

05 Jul 2017 20:07:20
Right lads, despite the recent result and negativity I'm travelling to Ibrox for 1st game of season. trouble is my flight home is 6.45,with the departure gate closing at 6.15.whats the best advice for getting a taxi? should I leave the match a bit earlier?

05 Jul 2017 20:44:09
It has been confirmed that sky will show both old firm games on the opening weekend so it will be an early kick off I would imagine

05 Jul 2017 20:46:35
Sorry mate I was thinking Motherwell game because you said 1st game of season, didn't notice u said Ibrox (Hamilton) game

05 Jul 2017 21:08:06
Sorry it's hibs game

06 Jul 2017 13:02:48
If you pre book a taxi then you will make it to airport in plenty time.

05 Jul 2017 18:36:05
Looking at all the players we signed I still reckon it would've been smarter to have signed a few players in areas we needed enhancing rather than get rid of most and go for lots of new signings at One time Now the question begs, will Pedro Caxinha get the time to gel this team? and are those players coining to ever adapt to our game?

05 Jul 2017 19:03:13
Personally at this moment and time our only good players signed may well be our two Scots Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans I fear the rest will be off the pace of our game I really hope I'm proven wrong Pedro Caxianha for me was always a funny appointment He went to the Middle East where your paid vast amounts of money but the football isn't and shouldn't be taken seriously it's no better than the Conference league So to go get a mediocre Manager from that league is "laughable" We have been absolutely duped in the way he conducted the interview and promising what he can do Pedro will get time but I can't see us even getting 2nd place this year!

05 Jul 2017 19:52:22
Middle east league may be conference level but i dare say a few, if not all of the teams there would probably beat us just now!

05 Jul 2017 20:06:37
I still think the team that was put on that park should have been good enough to beat a team of painters and plumbers. Manager must take big part of blame but they players should take a good look at themselves.

05 Jul 2017 18:28:18
Just checked out our first 3 league fixtures for the new season. Motherwell away then Hibs and Hearts at home. Anyone confident of collecting more than 3 points from that. Not me.

05 Jul 2017 18:54:22
It's a brand new team most people were buzzing about the signings they need time, absolute joke that people are calling for Pedro to be sacked already last night was disappointing but I'm still confident we can do well in the league we just need a solid pre season to get the team to gel and click

05 Jul 2017 19:32:02
The reasoning and outlook of some of the people on here is not real, we have a new team, new manager spent a lot of money, we have to wait till the team gels before we can tell if things are not going to work, what other options are there we have probably spent the budget and look bad enough without doing something stupid like not back the manager and team at the start of a new regime, wonder whether other teams fans are as over the score.

05 Jul 2017 20:50:08
The result and the performance was the worst of our history but the manky mob this time last year also had the worst result in there history they managed to turn it around. We were all excited about the signings we now have 4 weeks till the motherwell game so let's hope they can gel . The results happened let's get behind the team and stop moaning.

05 Jul 2017 20:53:02
smudge9 and Rfcbear do you think this team looks better or worse than warburtons? Do you think pedro is an improvement as a manager or a step backwards, both lost 5-1 to them but last nights result puts pedro in a bracket all of his own. Do a bit of research and a bit of digging and find out who actually scouted and appointed pedro.

05 Jul 2017 21:13:05
Chelsea had Terry, Liverpool had Gerrard, Man City have Kompany ( look at the difference when he plays ) and Arsenal when they were winning had Adams and Vierra. We have Wallace - nice guy but couldn't lead a conga. Until we have steel on the park that the other players can look to and that will take no crap we will struggle. Ryan Jack knows the score - worth a shout?

05 Jul 2017 22:03:37
Much better team, Bruno Alves, cardoso, dorrans as well now and Morelos, still haven't seen Pena play either so we have not even seen what our starting 11 is going to play like

05 Jul 2017 22:13:53
Jyf again it's early days can't really count the end of last season, some new players not even played yet and the others that have played it's only they're second competitive game, instead of me digging up who appointed Pedro could you let me know please

06 Jul 2017 14:47:33
I would have alves Dorrans or Jack as captain. I would get shot of Wallace and tav and look at players in Scotland to replace them. I would also bring in Thomas O'ware as a back up defender as I don't believe Bates has what it takes. But at the end of the day I'm not the manager and I hope Caixinha proves all the doubters wrong.

Staring 11 with what it looks like we have
Fod
Hodson
Alves
Cardossa
Beerman
Jack
Rossiter
Pena
Dorrans
Miller
Herrera

Subs
Morelos
Wilson
Alnwick
Wallace
Kranjcer
Dalcio
Candieas

05 Jul 2017 18:17:34
This result is totally unacceptable for our club. No matter if we replaced the full team, professional players should always win through especially over a 2 leg tie.
Saying that we are only 2 games into the new season so should not jump the gun as to how this team will do this year. Pedro keeps saying he knows what type of culture he has to build so if it doesn't improve on last year over a term then he should walk away. Personally I'd give him time to give us entertaining winning football, that means the league!

05 Jul 2017 18:34:00
Things will not get any better until we change the captain, if you don't have a leader on the park it makes it more difficult and we have not had a proper leader for a number of seasons now.

05 Jul 2017 19:16:04
Realbear Rangers have no chance of winning the league

05 Jul 2017 18:02:22
BR 65 if you think we are heading in the right direction under Pedro, then you surely must be BRENDA RODGERS!

05 Jul 2017 19:08:35
Come on Billy - you can't be expected to be taken seriously when you want to replace him with Barry Ferguson!

05 Jul 2017 17:52:29
My first post here but been following and reading for a while now. Thought I would have my say and thoughts: it was a terrible performance last night without a doubt and looked like we went there expecting a result rather than working for it. We should have went through but didn't. Time to move on now. Still think we will come good but maybe too soon to expect anything in Europe although should have done better than we did. Still unsure about Pedro but will back him 100% but think he needs to concentrate on the football rather than some of the things he is quoted as doing and saying. His signings will need time to gel. Its his team now so no excuses but if they can't and don't perform to expectations by end of year say then that will be time to judge him and signings but too early to start judging now. Disappointed but willing to back him for now.

05 Jul 2017 17:20:03
Right lads shoot me down.

First of all a totally embarrassing result and no excuses at all had we taken our chances we would be through. We didn't and now we're not.

My point is, is this really a bad thing? We were never going to qualify for the groups as we just aren't ready. A whole team of new players and 2 guys who have been out for 10 months. Winning last night would have delayed the inevitable.

Now we have a month before the season starts which gives us time to arrange 3 or 4 decent standard friendlies and maybe time for Pedro to take the players away for a week for some high intensity training. This meaning when the league starts there can be no excuses from anyone.

Yes it's disappointing and utterly embarrassing but this gives us a chance to prepare properly for the league season, something we've not been able to do for the last couple of seasons.

05 Jul 2017 17:29:18
Good point, we need that.

05 Jul 2017 18:07:47
Most teams have probably agreed friendlies for the coming season who can we play and how many games do we need?
I think will need to find teams of PL quality so we can be tested. No point playing minows as we l've already seen how that worked out lol

06 Jul 2017 14:41:54
Europe was always a bonus aslong as we get it right for aug but we do need to get rid of guys like windass who is absolute dross

06 Jul 2017 14:45:14
Rumors of us playing Forrest away As part of the BM Signing.

05 Jul 2017 17:11:33
1st post I've put on here solely because off last night result.

Next steps Pedro should take imo

1.Strip Wallace off his captaincy
2.Make Alves our captain
3.Get dorrans and walker deal finished
3.Change to a 4-4-2 formation
5.Get rid off the deadwood that's still making it into our staring 11 / Bench Foderingham
Tavernier
Windass
Waghorn
6.Bring in a New GK / RB / and another Wide midfielder with with more class and creativity

Unfortunately doubt fod or tav wil go under Pedro but time and time thay prove thay aren't good enough for us thay need to go asap.

05 Jul 2017 17:23:37
The only steps pedro should be taking are big ones out the door, they are calling last night the most embarrassing result in BRITISH european football history why are we letting him away with this.

05 Jul 2017 17:34:56
I agree making Alves captain.
I agree getting shot of Windass and Waggy.
I think get rid of Alnwick and Hodson before Tav, Fods as they haven't been good enough to oust them then they should go first.
We shouldn't have only one formation. We should be able to change to suit opposition.

05 Jul 2017 18:09:32
Tav has showen he can be a good goalie, he's still young and I think will come good with a confident defence/ commanding centre half in front of him

06 Jul 2017 14:42:32
Matty97. Agree 100 per cent with all your points. I stated as recently as a week ago on this site Alves should be captain. Wallace is never captain material and this has been evident for a very long time. As for Tavernier and Foderingham they are quite simply not good enough. Time for Alnwick and a new right back. Should have signed walker weeks ago.

He would have made a difference last night. Unfortunately with the lost revenue from last night this now seems highly unlikely. PC and his new players better learn fast and hit the ground running in the league otherwise he will be gone by January. I hope he does but it seems unlikely based on his reign so far

05 Jul 2017 16:59:55
Ok out of Europe at the first try. and now fans are calling for Pedro's head. Either sacked or resign.

here is a thought for everyone. It was only the 2nd game. what happens this season we win it all and beat Celtic all games we play them. then everyone will be singing his name and praise.

Thoughts guys?

05 Jul 2017 17:10:05
As your name suggests . only on FIFA! 😂

Pedro must stay.

05 Jul 2017 15:45:09
I think PC should be given some time to get the team shape and playing the way he wants but if he were to get the boot I'd like to see Ian Ferguson brought in as manager as i tgink he's the right kind of mentality to drill it into any player that doesn't alreadg kniw what it means to play for rangers and i think he's been fairly successful as a coach/ manager down in oz?

05 Jul 2017 15:21:24
pedro should have got the scottish players he wanted in first ahead of the other guys if we had mclean dorrans walker in the transtion would be lot quicker for those guys along with giving baronjas and hardie the nod we probaly would have came threw the tie last night or finished it in first leg.

05 Jul 2017 15:04:29
Can we have a poll ed, agree get behind the manager and team or disagree carry on greetin.

{Ed033's Note -

Rangers Fans Poll

05 Jul 2017 17:28:12
Good poll - shows that the pretend supporters on here are in the minority

05 Jul 2017 14:55:04
I wrote a post some time ago about an article I read about Conte at Chelsea he changed the formation about 4 or 5 times until he seen the levels he wanted. He landed on the 3-4-3 and his team clicked he didn't change players often this helped build consistency. I understand Pedro has a plan but tick tock because this isn't good enough! I hope i'm wrong but starting to think he might be another silver tongued charlaten.

05 Jul 2017 14:53:25
Anybody heard of a failed drugs test and an eligible player (no not us although it did look like it)

05 Jul 2017 14:58:55
It's in the Scottish Sun and has been on Sky sports. It's apparently about the first scorer having taken a banned substance (asmtha prevention medication) for his previous club.

He was drug tested and found positive for banned substance in May. He has an upcoming hearing regarding it however Niederkorn are adamant that they had permission for the player to play. Even if it's the case we were beaten fair and square. We're not Celtic who seek out any loophole to exploit after being defeated.

05 Jul 2017 15:07:59
There would be no point in getting through on a technicality. Would just get pumped off the next team. We ain't ready for europe. Luckily the new season is 4 weeks away!

05 Jul 2017 15:11:26
Good thing is all i'm seeing is fans say we got pumped and we know it, it would be a shame for progres not to go through as we know it would be massive for them, we just have to dust ourselves off and crack on, we have to now really get behind the team no matter at the minute how hard that is, just look at twitter tic meltdown that's gave me the bit between my teeth to be 100 percent behind my club

05 Jul 2017 16:17:31
speaking of eligible player thought in the first game there defender got two yellow cards but ref forgot to send him off and he was playing last night how does that make any sense?

05 Jul 2017 16:31:47
Would have no problem getting through if there was a contravention of the rules, some people think Rangers are above accepting a reprieve, I would find us turning down the offer more embarrassing.

05 Jul 2017 14:31:02
Yes that was disgraceful lacking shape passion etc All we can do is take it on the chin smile and continue our support Now is NOT the time for knee jerk reactions we, re surely better than sack the manager after two games If no improvement by Christmas then we see what needs doing.

05 Jul 2017 14:58:03
It's not been 2 games though, it's been months and some of the most humiliating results in living memory under Pedro.

He got the benefit of the doubt after MW left but now he's had the chance to put his mark on the team, the board have backed him and the early indications are that this will be another season of hurt.

The most worrying this is how none of the players seem to understand the system. I don't blame them either! Can anyone honestly say they watched those 2 games and know how Pedro is trying to play? I certainly don't!

06 Jul 2017 14:11:19
Not to be wide but i'm sure its 433 but depending on who plays in midfield. Its either 2 holding dms rossiter and Jack or 1 holding dm and 2 further forward. Its an old tactic it doesn't work. We need something new at leat 2 up front build a proper striking partnership like hatley and mccoist prso and novo miller and boyd.

05 Jul 2017 13:12:10
The SPFL can shove their 'take time to consider implications' up their crankshaft to be honest. LNS said regardless of appeal result there would be no sporting advantage charge against us.

05 Jul 2017 16:45:40
Sellick issue a statement and "are expecting SPFL" to review Rangers titles won while EBTs were paid.

As Liewell is pulling the strings . we don't need to be rocket scientists to work out the outcome!

When will it get better for us? Just keep getting kicked at every turn!

06 Jul 2017 13:47:45
Pretty sure LNS did not say that. Pressure will come from other clubs for a new investigation regardless of what SPFL want.

05 Jul 2017 13:07:33
We are probably all sick of the abuse from smeltic fans! I hope Pedro and the team learn that the quickest way to shut them up is to win! Win against our rivals and top the league!

05 Jul 2017 15:00:03
Wishful thinking. I'm dreading coming up against them. How can we really hope to take anything from them when Pedro can't steer us by a pub team?!

05 Jul 2017 15:12:47
Feels like the worst hangover I've had abuse from all sides but we'll roll with it and get behind our club

05 Jul 2017 12:42:27
Our team struggles to score while playing this formation so why we keep playing it is bafling we struggled last year with a very simliar tactic it does not work when teams sit back
And that is what is going to happen when the leauge starts again We have drawn with tns
and saints so far this pre season topped with last night result and first leg.
Things need be changed formation wise and players still need be moved on otherwise we could be in for poor season again

05 Jul 2017 13:34:36
Exactly Craig8688

It's making our strikers look s***e, he has to change it ASAP, garner got slated but i believe he would have been a better player in a 442. And no doubt morales and Herrera will have the same problem

05 Jul 2017 13:58:36
Morales and herrera will have the same problem 442 is best suited to the players they 2 two upfront with miller used as sub and same with niko
With pena jack in middle then candelies and a new left winger to provide for the two up front
and make the defence solid with new left and right backs this would make the team a lot better

05 Jul 2017 12:31:13
New Rangers manager poll options would be:

Barry Ferguson
Neil McCann
Alex McLeish
Derek McInnes
Graeme Souness
Sam Allardyce

Rangers Manager Poll

05 Jul 2017 12:48:00
Fannies let this team settle and support the team. Best fans in the world what a load of crap, glory hunters if you go by 80% of the posters on here since yesterday. Remember sir Walter spending a fortune Laudrup, gasgoine and Co going out in the first round when we had a pretty season warm up and the league under way. That to me was bigger under achieving and that spending with no return from Europe was the main factor in us going under so get a grip and act like supporters

05 Jul 2017 12:55:36
I don't think my choice, Derek McInnes, is an absolutely top manager but he is a safe pair of hands and it's inconceivable that we would have been humiliated like that last night if he had been in charge.

Personally I would take any of the names offered on the poll over Pedro. Nice guy but tactically completely clueless.

05 Jul 2017 13:53:39
Well said Gary totally agree he took over a shambles of a squad. Give him time at least. I remember on this forum no one wanted derek mcinnes now every man and dog want hin

05 Jul 2017 14:44:37
Nad, you would take Ferguson, that says it all really!

05 Jul 2017 11:33:47
for me they should have taken harry redknap for a year. tried and trusted in british football. good all round knowledge. yes he is older but would have been ideal to get us steady and progressing in the right way.

05 Jul 2017 11:54:33
And he would need £50m to buy his type of team (10% for him)

05 Jul 2017 11:58:50
why would he need that? he would have got quality players out of contract. don't need to spend millions on players could have spent that money on wages for quality players rather than foregin haz beans

05 Jul 2017 12:41:04
I thought about harry is least he couldn't buy niko again lol

06 Jul 2017 14:47:09
Any manager that doesn't't have a leader on the park will struggle. With a driving force on the park last night we could have got a result. Instead we had Wallace. Young Rossiter did more to push his team mates forward than our so called captain. We need two new full backs and pronto. Wallace is a waste of a jersey and never ever a leader.

06 Jul 2017 14:32:17
You all need to step back an listen to yourselves fellow bears. i am ashamed of some of the dross our so called fans are posting on here. are you sure you are rangers fans? Seems like few smeltic fans possing as trueblues. It was 1 game new team and most were and are not 100% fit. Be rangers fans and back our TEAM. can you imagine what our new guys would think looking on this page? Who needs enemies when we have our fans. fecking joke the lot of you calling for pc's head already. There is more rubbish printed on here than the sun an rebel put together. We are not happy with what happened who would be? It was embarrasing but that's all it was. remember the unwashed ( far better team) almost fell short to the red imps.

05 Jul 2017 11:31:17
I really hope there is 2 full backs coming in. although i would much prefer to see a 352 formation. 442 is not the answer nowadays. majority of teams play 5 in the middle

cardoso alves wilson back 3. but ideally wilson would be back up with a faster defender brought in.
2 wing backs which have pace
jack dorrans pena
herrera morelos up top - hard to judge these two as they had no service.

foderingham debateable but unlikely this will be changed.

candeias krancjar miller are good for squad wise.

yesterday you looked at the bench and was same as last year. if not worse.

05 Jul 2017 11:29:39
After a dreadful result and no excuses for those who played, at least those have been with us all season, Pedro has signed 9 players and they have not yet even had a chance to string together competitive games. Disastrous though last night was surely the time to judge the new players will be in a few weeks time? Times like this I'm glad I live in the south of England so won't bump into any Septic fans! Got to keep smiling.

05 Jul 2017 13:45:48
We still have Herrera, Pena, Alves and Dorrans to come in to that team, along with, possibly, Walker. That's half a team. No excuses for last night, but surely improvement is on the way when these players are bedded in. My main concern is that the two full backs are not of the standard we need and that the loan player needs sent back ASAP as he is a complete dud. And if Alnwick isn't better than Fod, then we also need a goalkeeper. Once again the manager seems to be drawn towards midfield players instead of strengthening other areas that badly need it.

05 Jul 2017 11:13:14
Apparently emmanuel francoise (goal scorer last night) failed a drug test in May from his previous club.

Surely UEFA should be looking into this?

I was on the assumption that if you failed drug tests you were ineligible to play?

05 Jul 2017 11:34:19
Even if true we shouldn't be clutching at straws mate. We didn't deserve to go through in the slightest and if somehow we got reinstated through a technicality I don't believe that team deserve a second chance this year.

05 Jul 2017 12:50:33
Have we turned into Tims phoning up uefa about registration small print we are out move on

05 Jul 2017 12:51:15
The board would certainly jump at the chance to stay in the competition because, let's face it, they certainly budgeted for a longer stay.

From memory though teams aren't punished as a whole for one individual failing a drugs test.

05 Jul 2017 13:51:12
Shit happens. This is not how we imagined things would pan out, but give the lads a break, it'll come good!

05 Jul 2017 10:53:12
Any thoughts on using Mckay money and going fo weiss or walker asap, also think Wallace shld do the honorable thing and give Alves the captains band b4 it's taken from him, and definitely need 2 full backs I don't dislike Wallace but if u look at majority of goals we hv lost from balls coming into the box it's from his side, we need fullbacks who defend not bombing forward creating chances that's for the midfield and wingers, I think 433 wld suit with a diamond midfield Jack and Dorrans with Pena in front one winger who alternates the both wings with 2 centre forwards Herrera for height and strength and Moreno for the scraps, kranjcar Miller good impact subs.

05 Jul 2017 13:39:23
JBL how can 3 midfielders make a diamond?

05 Jul 2017 14:49:36
We need a left back before we need any more midfield players!

05 Jul 2017 10:43:08
Always sack the manager how about this it just came to early and even if we had 10 weeks to prepair would it have been enough time without real competitive football to help get that sharpness confidence and teamwork to flow don't think we stood a chance espically as we didn't kill it off at home and that comes with time not a few weeks pre season and no real games

Still players in the team that are not good enough and need to leave still new players to come in to the team and maybe even to the squad time needed to gel and learn about each other and how they play

So do we get behind pedro and trust what he is trying to do or do we become one of those clubs that sack managers and hope we finally get i right?

Look at some of the players he has recruited international's better than the breadman he is trying to build a spine half of which haven't played together yet so need to back him not sack him i agree we should have won that game over the 2 legs but as i said we never killed it off at home

Wallace needs to go as captain not up to the job notvstrong enough or man enough to wear the band and get rid of the other pish like waggy tav windass and the rest they just not up to it and are not even good enough for the bench

So onwards and up wards take it on the chin yes it hurts the puddle drinkers will laugh but we are rangers and will get over it and be better for it so that what i think no doubt i will get shot down by some don't care allowed my opion as is everyone else

05 Jul 2017 11:22:21
We were playing a part time pub team no excuses

05 Jul 2017 12:56:04
Knowger that common sense thing again people here just don't get it mate. If it was Pedro for corporal punishment in george Square I think you'd get more agrees. When Strachan went to the dark side he was put out Europe straight away we all laughed but they won the league that season, Brenda got beat off red imps last season at this stage they cleared up we must let Pedro crack on and support him

05 Jul 2017 23:14:20
Thanks gary75

Lets keep it real and support our club and manager👍

05 Jul 2017 10:31:52
After last night what next?

How long do we give him?

05 Jul 2017 10:46:00
The mentality of some fans on here, he has just started his rebuilding job and anyway a change at the top would be a dave King decision, last night was really bad but man up things will get better.

05 Jul 2017 12:15:51
Take your Red White and Blue glasses off for a minute if this was any other team we would be having a go at them. Heard the same crap about Warburton needing time and look what happened there.
aye and things can only get better was a crap song D:Ream on.

05 Jul 2017 10:05:17
With McKay gone a expect us to up our bid for Jamie walker.

05 Jul 2017 10:26:37
Who cares he'll come and only move backwards as a player like many before him.

Scottish football is a mess and I don't think it looks like getting better anytime soon. All the Scottish teams will be OBC from european competitions.

Paddypower paying out already on celtic winning the league and its not even started yet. How bad is this.

05 Jul 2017 10:47:39
There might be no more signings now there is no European money coming in

05 Jul 2017 10:59:11
Wish all decent fans would stop moaning at everything that goes wrong, yes last night was horrific but he's trying to build a squad with about 8/ 10 new players, we are rangers supporters and are like spoiled weans when things don't go our way, just support the team whoever is playing and whoever is managing the team. we where in the wilderness for years and still got wee bit to go yet, patience is key.

05 Jul 2017 13:39:23
Denbear, think you need to grow a pair, and decide if you are a supporter of the team or a fair weather fan.

06 Jul 2017 14:30:01
With Europe gone do you think there's any cash available?

05 Jul 2017 09:57:50
Even worse result than Berwick Rangers in '67. No leaders, no desire, unfit, no communication no tactics, absolutely p**s poor. No idea where we go from here. no warm up games booked. Board and fans deserve much much better on the pitch.
Pedro has 6 league games to save his job - until then, I would have players in morning, noon and night weekends etc.

05 Jul 2017 10:19:13
We need a captain/ leader on and off the park. For all of Wallace's virtues and he does have many, he is not a leader. The team has no soul, PC must be aware of that, when things are not going well on the park a leader should inspire the players to up their game. PC may never recover from this in fact I might never recover from this.

05 Jul 2017 10:33:38
TrueBlueDrew
I 100% agree Wallace is not a leader on the park.
We need someone to drive, roar, inspire, fight, help etc etc
These are things we had in great captains like Gough, Amoruso, Butcher and Ferguson but I simply don't see it in Wallace.
I am full of respect for the guy but we need a leader that can help drive the team on.
Even if he's not captain I expect leadership from Alves so there should be improvement (it can't get any worse than last night)

I think we need about another 4 QUALITY signings
We have lots of signings but we will need to see f they are quality

05 Jul 2017 09:53:36
The obvious question is should pedro be sacked. He's had some really embarrassing results. And after last night he's running out of excuses. So should he be sacked or given more time.

06 Jul 2017 14:28:18
Sacked now

05 Jul 2017 09:41:13
I have a burning desire to really let rip at the situation after last night but I am trying desperately to be supportive in the horrific aftermath of last nights result.

First of all the result was an absolute shocker, no excuses what so ever in getting humiliated by a part time team.

We seriously need to address the lack of creativity in the final third, and more importantly in the wide areas, none of the players I have seen seem to be able to run and beat a man and deliver a final ball that ends in a clear cut opportunity.

We need to stop playing players out of position - play miller as a CF or bench him for someone else, this pigeon holing players in to a formation is stupid and didn't work for the bread man and won't work now. If you must have him in with other players change the formation to accommodate them in the correct positions.

Wallace should also do the right thing and hand back the captaincy - as he is no way captain material. We need a boss on the park and he seems scared to get opinionated at other members of the team. Gough, McCall, Amo, Barry, McCulloch, to name a few would not of stood for that, during the game last night.

I can't help but think we missed a trick in not bringing Barry in to the coaching setup, we need someone to galvanise the players on what it means to be at Rangers and someone who has been there through the good and bad times. I like JJ a lot and would have thought that brining in both him and Barry would have been a better solution - just my opinion.

Last a friend of mine - who always seems to know things before it happens (he says due to his work) but he told me that McKay was due to start last week but informed Ped that he didn't want to play and that he wanted to leave ASAP - hence why he was sent to the U20 to train. This disrupted plans for the game. ( bit would have made no difference - probably)

Now a month to go before the first game and we need fixtures ASAP otherwise its going to be a tough start to the campaign. I am hoping that there is something to look forward to for the first home game of the season.

05 Jul 2017 13:44:21
Detmcclane1988, good post agree with all you say with exception of Barry as a coach. Sorry he may have the club at heart but he is not and never will be a coach.

05 Jul 2017 09:22:47
Give Pedro the first six SPL games and then King and the Board must make a decision. If we are already adrift of Septic by 3 points or more by then he should be sacked. On the other hand, maybe the new players will prove otherwise and we might be top of the league. Surely the new players deserve a chance and a run in the team? Some (e. g. Alves) haven't even played yet! Neither has Dorrans. If Pedro is sacked, then who is the target for new manager? Ed - how about a poll as to who would replace Pedro if he is sacked? My vote would be for Barry Ferguson (he has passion)

{Ed033's Note - For a poll, i need a question and possible options to vote on. i know the question but not the possible voting options.

05 Jul 2017 10:56:19
@doiger - passion? But obviously ability doesn't matter then? And how long are you going to give a club legend? Remember Greig was voted the greatest ever Ranger and we chased him out the door when he was manager.
We will end up like Forest or Leeds, big clubs, but now basket cases due to the continual changing of managers. Now more than ever we need stability on and off the park.

06 Jul 2017 14:27:58
Barry Ferguson your having a laugh. He has done nothing to warrant getting rangers job . I've got passion for rangers maybe i should be considered.

05 Jul 2017 09:29:26
Honestly sick to my back teeth with this bears. Same old failures as last season, still can't defend set pieces. Still no hunger, no desire, no passion, no leadership. I'm all for getting behind the team but Pedro's now had 4 months with the squad and it still doesn't look as if there's any game plan. I love my club but they make it hard at times. Hopefully when the league kicks off on August 5th these 4 weeks the team now have at Auchenhowie will make a difference.

05 Jul 2017 09:28:23
Pedro said that we will play an all out attack style and in two games against a pub team we did not attack . We have spent money this year and we get the same possession football that was played last season with no heart, no end product and no fight.

05 Jul 2017 09:14:39
How can people still b back pc, this result says it all getting put out of Europe of a part time team from Luxembourg who finished 4th sack him right now. He started preseason weeks early for what absolutely shambolic result and manager dk has spent money on players now do the same on a manager,

05 Jul 2017 09:08:48
Will the likes of Alves and Dorrans really want to play for rangers this season after last night? Our budget seemed to be based on doing well in Europe so now i'm worried that we have far too many players in the squad.

Also, Kenny Miller has been a truly fantastic servant to the club and rightfully is a club legend. His drive and energy has been unmatched. However, I think his race is run and its perhaps time to step back from the first team or at least the starting 11.

05 Jul 2017 09:24:43
Ofcourse they will. Do you really think one result can diminish the prestige and history of Glasgow Rangers. Time to grow a pair and support your club.

05 Jul 2017 09:05:11
Positives-
Not our full first 11.
Early in Season for fitness.
Still people to come in.
Time left to gel.

Negatives-
Never a captain.
Lack of passion or drive.
Confidence affected.
Dividing fans,

05 Jul 2017 09:25:50
Good assessment Bluegenius. Much work to be done.

05 Jul 2017 11:01:05
No urgency. Too happy passing the ball around with no attempts on goal

05 Jul 2017 08:49:47
We don't have a fullback who can consistently do the basics of defending. Eg stop crosses coming over. Fair play to LW for sticking with us but captain? Did he even speak last night? Bit different from watching John Greig in action. Dalcio -at best average and Candeias - more involved than McKay but not convincing penetration wise. Murty showed the manager how to play against celtic but he ignores it and what happens. Hate to say it but he is beginning to look like an arrogant fool. Wtf is going on?

05 Jul 2017 09:29:32
Not taking away from the fact that this is the worst result in history, we still must keep the faith and wait for the team to gel. I don't feel that the message is being conveyed clearly from the management team to the playing staff. Their seems to be a lot of waffle with very little substance coming Caixinha very similar to the way Warburton used to be. It's very hard to understand what he's on about!

We have four groups of players there now. Scottish and English - Portuguese and Mexican. Due to the language barrier, these both groups of players (language wise) cannot communicate on the field of play (like Miller mentioned last week) . This means that the management team must have to perform two team talks, with the full playing staff not able to cross examine or discuss between them. It's like throwing out two teams in one and expecting them to know how to play with each other intuitively.

Lines of passing seem to be unset and random. This dependancy on full backs does not work for Rangers - this should be abandoned straight away, letting the defence do its job of defending only, midfield holding and pushing forward and going back to playing two strikers. Start with the basics, leave this methodology rubbish out of it until we start putting together wins.

We must improve, we will improve. Dorran's could be exactly what we need to link midfield and attack. Cadoso seems accomplished and comfortable on the ball. Candeias looks to be pacy but is being undermined by Tavernier bombing forward all the time, same goes for Dalcio (who doesn't look very accomplished at all - I'd be holding onto MacKay) with Wallace. Reducing wingers to holding midfielders.

Maybe it's for the best because we were onto some spankings in Europa. Walk before you run. We'll get stronger, we'll gel. Keep the faith.

05 Jul 2017 08:41:12
Feel conned out of season book money not renewed continuous credit for other games now won't until those responsible for interviewing Pedro and Pedro himself go, at least dick Turpin wore a mask.

05 Jul 2017 08:52:14
Sounds like Parkhead might be the place for you - supporter?

05 Jul 2017 08:52:52
Is he still secretly working for the msnky mob?

05 Jul 2017 09:06:46
Just want what's best for Rangers bring Murty in this afternoon stop the behind the scenes carry on from Pedro

05 Jul 2017 09:23:26
The wage thieves were out in force last night

05 Jul 2017 09:26:52
Yes defiantly from the darkeide.

06 Jul 2017 14:21:14
Caressing the ball? King should be caressing Pedro's balls just now, with the toe of his boot

05 Jul 2017 08:35:43
Still in absolute shock
This needs addressed now it has got plg written all over it.
The board need to bite the bullet and terminate Pedro's contract now.
Otherwise the league will be over by the beginning of october.
When Brenda got the Cellic job it was a 1 year rolling contract, this idiot has got a 3 year 800,000 contract, it's unbelievable were staring over the edge of the abyss.

05 Jul 2017 08:25:30
Yes the whole team was pathetic last night, although I hate singling out one person.

Lee Wallace who is meant to be our captain, was dreadful but that's not the point he's meant to be our captain. I never seen shouting, rallying the troops or being inspiring in anyway.

I would take the captaincy of him, and give to someone else. Not fit to be our captain.
I believe there will be some fall out from this and because I can't see the board sacking Pedro, I think we should we should seriously at the very least look at changing captaincy.

I get he stuck by us in the lower divisions but - that does not buy a never ending amount of being less than average. And I'm sure like mcoist, I'm sure he's been very well paid for his so called loyalty.

In fact I would be looking to replace Wallace in the team and demote him to the bench, maybe we would get a reaction.

I know there is way more problems than just Wallace right now.

Just think the captaincy should be given to a real leader and I have thought this for while now.

My captaincy contenders would be - Alves, Dorrans, Jack and Miller but that's not really a long term solution.

These are my thoughts after my feel good factor has completely left the building. Still in shock. Disgrace pure and simple!

05 Jul 2017 09:54:07
Jeseca. Agree 100% wallace is never ever a captain he was given it out of loyalty to club. Time for change now. I would give it to Alves with miller as his back up. The 2 full backs and the keeper are awful. A right Back whould who can defend should be top priority. Alnwick needs to be given his chance also. Hope pena herrera dorrans and alves hit the ground running and make a difference. Otherwise we are in trouble in season ahead

06 Jul 2017 14:23:16
Bang on. The fans on here want the best for Rangers, of course they do. But this man is not the answer. Alarm bells have been clanging more or less since he arrived.

06 Jul 2017 14:26:10
20 year old Rossiter (youngest in a blue shirt? ) was shouting everytime I seen him on screen yet Wallace was silent.
If Rossiter was a few year older I would give him the armband, but doubt he'll stick around with us at this rate. Alves (if he's good) should take the armband, he will get way more respect from his compatriots and the younger ones too. i'm half expecting Alves to be another dud now though after these first 2 games ( as well as the draws against TNS and ST Johnstone, who we didn't score against either thanks to a TNS own goal. )

05 Jul 2017 08:08:38
Still so angry with that disgrace last night. Listened to the managers press confetence and the same dross spouted by warburton. we had 48,000 at last weeks home game empty the shop of all things rangers and the board back him to build his team and we are rewarded with that. The man is an imposter get rid now. We will win nothing get humped 4 times by celtic and struggle against most teams with a bit of pace and belief if not.

06 Jul 2017 14:25:19
Can't argue with any of that ar9.

05 Jul 2017 08:04:48
Dazk1983 you say you think the game came to early. Progres are in the same situation, their season hasn't started and they aren't match fit either. This result came down to desire to win. No desire until 2-0 down.

I think the season will get better once all the new players understand what it means to wear the jersey and I will get behind them 100%.

06 Jul 2017 14:18:58
I agree with the will to win and we lacked it in abundance. I'm sure the team needs time to gel but we should be beating minnow teams like that. Really poor.

05 Jul 2017 07:45:03
Simply digracefull from the players lastnight. No matter the system played the players should have been good enough to win that, they were awful, a disgrace to the jersey. I played amateur and the one thing that hurt me the most was our captain. There are times you need a captain, Greig, Butcher, Gough to name a few. Lee Wallace is never a captain he was shockingot picking his performance out as they were all a disgrace, but when you have the captains armband you have a responsibility to at least try and lift your team and lead by example, God help us if he stays as captain. As for the rest God knows.

05 Jul 2017 07:30:28
It's the pace, the match was slow and they couldn't get to the required level of intensity they do in the league, at least in the first leg with the crowd behind them they had a higher level of intensity, added to that they are too slow getting the ball forward anyway.
Too early in the season still for them to raise it last night once they had started at a typical Euro away walking pace level.
Funnily enough Waghorn might have been better starting for us, more space, slower pace may have suited him. Also Holt played well in the first one for a change, maybe should have started when we were trying to hold the match.

05 Jul 2017 06:45:24
The alarm bells were ringing when in the closed door games, colraine apart we draw with Welsh part times new saints with an own goal, goalless against st Johnstone and only 1-0 to this mob at home. Taking last night into account its obvious the last third is a massive problem. We can have the ball all day long but when it counts we're lost and prone to give goals away when we get desperate to score. This is the same as when MW was in charge. What's changed other than 10million quid gone

05 Jul 2017 07:10:24
I would agree to a certain extent, but for me the problem is getting the ball forward quicker. We seem to slow the game down almost to walking pace, lots of passes yet go absolutely nowhere with it, we seem to want to go side to side or backwards just to keep the ball.! That's the issue for me, how can the forwards score goals if we create next to no chances for them.!?

06 Jul 2017 13:43:20
I agree we we are to slow going forward and I think Krajcar is the main problem he is a sublime footballer great range of passing but so so slow Jack and Rossiter are not blessed with pace either no one got beyond the midfield to support the strike we got nothing down the flanks I fear Pedro will not survive this result it will lurk till next bad result and that team will have them and it will build

05 Jul 2017 06:08:51
This manager has got to go NOW! Can anyone tell me what system we were playing? I'm not calling for this idiots head based on last nights game alone have you all forgot about his two old firm disasters where after a humping at hampden he played the exact same way at Ibrox only worse. I, as well of lots of others, talked to him at the POTY dinner after the semi final defeat and he assured us that he knew how to beat them then played the same way as before, this guy has no football brain at all and should resign in shame never mind get the sack. Hand up anyone who thought signing mexicans and columians was the way forwards and a 20 year old portugese reject would be better than Barry Mccay. Sack him NOW.

05 Jul 2017 07:28:16
Uch! Get a grip ya maniac! Yes it was embarrassing but things will get better as team settles

05 Jul 2017 08:04:58
Pedro has set out his stall and needs to get a grip very quickly. Clear that McKay and Holt should have started last night. Also seems to have forgotten that
his best result as managers (3 nil against Aberdeen) was achieved almost single handed by Dodoo coming off the bench. Looks similar to PLG episode. Self awreness and arrogance seldome sit well together.

06 Jul 2017 14:16:01
Take off the blinkers bluebaws. This man will set us back to the point we will need real investment to recover

05 Jul 2017 04:38:18
Wish I could take the next 6 months off work.

05 Jul 2017 01:53:46
Look bad, even terrible result. Not good enough that I do not argue but before anyone calls for anybody's head or resignation. Accept yes for sure we should've done better but realistically we'd have been lucky to pass 2 more rounds. Team is newly put together and will need some time to gel.

All that being said it doesn't excuse the fact we actually lost 2-0 to your local more or less. Although I think we need to see the season out and see how Pedro does (who everyone loved about 7 hours ago) .

One other thing I am wary of is being realistic and knowing this is a rebuilding phase we need to get a plan and targets etc sorted and not constantly change personnel even if it hurts short term. Maybe DOF can sort of police that. Also we need a good RB and RW (unless candeias plays there he seems not too bad) .

Hope we get a good pre season sorted and put up a showing in the league, would like to see some youth given a shot as well.

06 Jul 2017 13:24:02
Kendi

Your wrong of you think everyone loved him 7 hours ago. Bottom line he is the manager responsible for the worst ever defeat of any Scottish team in Europe. That result will define him and that is what he will be remembered for. You can try and dress it up as much as you want but we have lost to a part time team not in the top 4 in the Luxembourg league. You can't get any lower than that

05 Jul 2017 01:44:50
Team looked very unfit totally disjointed, no idea how to defend set pieces, we were really poor, why no Pena when that was Pedros main target this season, is he injured unfit, so many questions but no answers. I like every other Rangers supporter was dying to see new players perform but truth be told we're a long way short, hopefully Dorrans will give us a spark but I really hope we get walker because think he could have made a difference tonight, would like to have seen Barrie but he has decided to go with warburton which is a shame because I think he will get lost down there. I am gutted at the defeat by a team that's never won a European tie just had to be us. I still think we're four or five players short but least we got time now to get them fit and to learn how to play for each other.

05 Jul 2017 00:24:43
Why are we still playing with Warbutons tactics still? Surely to hell after last season and start of this season this one striker nonsense has to go.

We have always been successful with 2 strikers why we not going back to basics.

I hope this new director of football comes in and looks at the tactics and points pedro in the correct position.

I do believe pedro and the signings will come good and will back the team 100% as they are still holding togther.

Wallace for me has to go as captain. Beerman to me maybe young but he is far better and can has a future. Alves be a great shout as captain with experience and no nonsense defending.

04 Jul 2017 23:58:18
Full backs need to go!

06 Jul 2017 13:18:07
Especially the one that has the audacity to call himself the team captain! Never a leader in a million years and a pretty useless defender that hides in every game. Young Rossiter, a 20 year old just back from almost a year's absence was more of a leader than Wallace tonight and who was it came out to apologise yes Rossiter again. Where was Wallace, hiding again.

Never a captain, Never ever. Our next signings have to be a couple of quality full backs and the sooner that Wallace loses the captaincy the better.
