Kenny Miller works his socks off, has improved his finishing, scores in old firm games and I would be absolutely delighted to see him return. He left as club were in a dire financial state to secure his future.
If it was a choice between Miller or Goodwillie who would the Gers fans prefer?
Click Agree for Kenny Miller
Click Disagree for D Goodwillie

Believable6 Unbelievable5

I really don't know and there are numerous factors to take into account for both players.

Miller left Scotland in January and was still SPL top goalscorer, so we know he can score goals for us. Plus it is going to be a lot cheaper to get him back than it is going to be to get Goodwillie. He already is a big fanbase among us Blosenoses and he is a hard worker and will probably work well with Jelavic and give Lafferty that added incentive to try and balance out his consistency.

However, Goodwillie is a good bit younger, resher and regardless of what Miller has done for us I, like a lot of Bears want fresh faces and a different dimension to the team. Plus I also want people who will play for the shirt and the fans.

So, I don't know. . I don't even know if I want either of them at Ibrox and that's the truth. I'm not sure if I think Goodwillie lives up to all this hype but then again, I back Lafferty. .so, lol.

Also, is Goodwillie not a wee bit fiesty and a possible liability?

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Celtic fan I'd hate to see Miller pulling on a Rangers strip again.

Not only does he score against us but the fact he was utter gash in a Celtic shirt just makes it worse. With Jelavic eventually finding his feet towards the end of last season, him and Miller up front would be a force to be reckoned with as they'd be a good balance up front.

As for Goodwillie I think he's overhyped. Depending on how his trial goes might be signing a 5 year contract with Barlinnie on a free anyway which IMO would stall any bids the OF or clubs down south might make.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2011 22:30:35
Just wanted to ask everybody how many players do you think we need ?
Would we not be better with good wingers than strikers surely lafferty deserves that position jelivic, lafferty, goodwillie

Believable1 Unbelievable0

In reality, I would say 6-8 players is a necessity, 5 being an absolute bare minimum. Bringing any Defenders is imperative, even moreso given the Bougy situation. With the exception of McCulloch's strength and ability to defend and Davis passing we really don't have much in the way of Midfielders and are lacking any real skill, flare and/or ability to make plays and get balls into the box/supply strikers. We also havebeen without an out and out winger for God knows how long and likewise with natural left-sided players.

An other issue is we've been forced to play people out of position, that needs rectified.

So, bare minimum I'd go for would be 3 Defenders, Midfielder and a Winger or a striker but ideally and realistically we need 3 Defenders, 2 Midfielders 2 players to get crosses in and someone to partner Jelavic and another quality striker should Jela or Laff get injured.

Walter seemed reluctant to play the young boys unless it was essential, i.e Wilson at the beginning. Wylde has pace and can cross and can get an otherwise mundane, uninventive and reluctant midfiled up the pitch. Fleck, has had a lot of pressure on him as he was touted to be next big thing but never really delivered. . I'd give him a more active role this season and give him a proper chance to shine, if that doesn't work I'd cash in on him. We also have Ness who looks to have good potential.

rangers will not sign d goodwillie will he still has his court case pending if dropped rangers will make a move but nothing till that's sorted .

i do think kenny miller will return if the 400k reported is true . will still do a job but would have to win us all over again after leaving us in the s**te in january .

the rumours with berbatov, parker, bendther, reo-coker never happen due to wages .

t frings. will most likely sign a 1 year deal .
tomer hemed. looks a defo signing.
conway. won't sign will go to english championship .
cribari . will sign if davie weir retires.
d vaughan. don't think will happen .

a granqvist. 2.5mwill sign as replacement for bougherra
bartley . 1.5m will sign permanent deal .
r foster . 400k will sign permanent deal.
g dorrans. 4m will be the biggest signing of the summer
c brunt . 4m if dorrans doesn't sign brunt will be a defo .

i think the paper were making up stories the day with the bougherra headline saying that he was involking the webster ruling . he had an interview just at the end of season and did say that he wanted to leave but also said that if rangers didn't want to sell him he would honour the last year of his contract .

ed whats the chances of rangers signing tomer hemed?

Watched some clips of him on youtube earlier he looks a great wee player would love to see him at the gers

{Ed010's Note -It was reported in some of the tabloids that Tomer Hemed is a definite target for Rangers and that Ian Durrant was going to Riga last night to watch him. So it looks a possibility.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

So that's what Durrant does, I thought it was nepotism that kept his red face in employment

Glasgow Rangers are not trying to bring back miller or novo. We are in talks with wigan over a move for conner salmon and also trying to sign ismael bouzid ex hearts player how is expected to sign early next week. so some of our fans need to get relistic and stop write alot a rubbish that were goin to sign parker, bentnar and so on. . . its just not ging to happen! !

Believable2 Unbelievable6

We aint talking to wigan so stop lying

Rangers have a Irish keeper in the youth team.Signed from a Irish side.Stop making up lies, if the right player is there. He will be signed Irish or not.Irish players cost money, like English players.Would rather go for Scots there cheaper.

I've been reading all this about boogie today and in my opinion I don't think we will miss him that much. My reasons are in the 3 seasons he has been with us he has taken the pee coming back late various times from international duty, was injured for the best part of the season when Danny wilson took over for him and to be honest he leaves us exposed every time he goes on one of his runs not that I don't like to see that, now I'm not saying he wasn't a good player for us he was but I think a more loyal player would benefit us. Hopefully we can get Bartley back as he showed alot of promise and I'm sure ally will have his eye on a few other centre halves so no need to worry. I know it would be a longshot but I think Upson would be a great signing wages might be bit hard tho.

What do my fellow bears think about my comments and who we should be looking to get in as replacements

Cranny

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Let bougey go. he can join the likes of boyd, fergie, thomson, burke, novo, boumsong, etc that left n regret it. very average player. would like bartley back n would take a punt on a pay as you play with woodgate n get another def. think goodwillie n conway will come in. would like to see alan smith also. i rekon (cant believe im saying this) laff has made the place his own with jela n who ever comes in will need to work for jersy. would keep healy (if he happy t sit on bench n money right) don't want diouf or weiss back(i think weiss flatters to deceive, the boy wylde is coming on ok)
the tiger - my thoughts

alot of absolute nonsense on here lets be honest the SPL isn't going to attract the lieks of berbatov now come on here are some realistic targets for super ally some of which ive heard and read aboutbeing true.

In's - David Goodwillie (2m)
Torsten Frings (Free)
David Murphy (Free)
Lee Bowyer (Free)
Craig Conway (Free)
Andreas Grangvist (2.5m)
Kyle Bartley (Loan)

People forget rangers are only guaranteeed 5m to spend and only MAYBE 10m depending on certain targets so super ally will look for bosmans and loans!

Milan have an excellent reputation of elongating the careers of their players, it is believed that they are prepared to sell Gattuso at the end of the season with Rangers a possible destination.
The player has always spoken with affection about his time in Scotland and having married a Scottish girl the chances of him rejoining the club are pretty high though Rangers will no doubt face competition from other clubs around Europe who will be liable to offer him a more attractive wage packet.

Not really a rumour but Daily Mail reporting Boogie doing a Webster and buying himself out of his contract for a measly 1m!

Also reading that Miller being allowed to leave for 400k

Would welcome miller back anyday, as for this big galout for a defender let him go if he doesn't to play then pack his bags and get him the first bus out of glasgow.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Miller has had his chance - twice. he wanted the big money n the lifestyle in turkey n it now he knows it was a mistake.

Scottish transfer window doesn't open until July 1st, so Gers won't be buying anyone next week ! !

{Ed010's Note -Although the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, domestic transfers between clubs in the same association (eg England or Scotland) can take place as soon as a club completes its last competitive 2010/11 fixtures.

However, many transfers or signings, although agreed and announced at this time, will not formally go through until 1 July because the majority of players' contracts expire on 30 June.
So its kind of open now, but only can transfer in the UK. But it officially opens on 1 July as a lot of players run out of their contracts on the day before.

Agree4 Disagree1

Very rotten lol

Agree3 Disagree0

An Arsenal fan came on our board and made a joke about wanting a swap deal involving cash and a transfer listed Arsenal player for Izaguirre.

I said no-one would be interested but given the choice I'd defo take Bentner - he's a quality player - good height, good feet but just a total misfit at Arsenal and doesn't fit their style of play. Unfortunately Arsenal are looking for 9M Sterling for him which puts him well out of the OF price range.

I see thers a new Gattuso rumour today wher did u read that he is gona b (player/coach)cant see it online atm hope its true he is old and past his best but its some 1 knew for scot brown to hate and u gota love it :). capitan of Millan and italy and he loves rangers can't b a bad move he also has made it clear he wants to retire at rangers that's why it could actully b a true rumour for 1s. I will post any news if u find it .

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Would still take rino back in a heartbeat, instead of some of the dross quoted coming back, novo, lovenkrands, thomson, burke, fergie. hope none of them come back unless they are in the stands

Agree1 Disagree0

Gattuso gets on well with barry and they could b a strong midfeild the 2 of them with Frings but its ALL rumours right now we need to wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree1

1st i ferguson will never play for gers again, he had his chance, twice. 2nd ive seen grass grow quicker than a midfield of rino, frings, ferguson(wants to be the gaffer n greets to come home) so no thanks. would rather see davis mcculloch(or frings) middle, naisey right, conway/wylde left. (playing 442 with jela and laff/goodwillie up front) bartley back and 2 other defenders. sell the algerian, he wants to go.

K

Agree1 Disagree0

No it is not possible

Agree0 Disagree1

Rafael brothers - No. They get regular first team football, play in Europe (including the final) and there'd be no benefit in them joining Rangers.

Hazard - no chance. The usual suspects including Arsenal, Liverpool, Inter, Spurs are looking at him and reports are suggesting at least a double figure transfer fee.

Hargreaves - dunno.

McCoist's priority is to sign one or two defenders in the window, and will offer around £750k - £1.5 million Andreas Granqvist of Groningen, and will also sign Kyle Bartley of Arsenal either on loan or on a permanent deal with aorund £1.5 million - £2.5 million the price. Also McCoist will take the opportunity to sign Torsten Frings from Werder Bremen on a free.
McCoist will also look to sign a winger after finding that Vladimir Weiss had been told that he would not be returning to Ibrox from Manchester City, and will attempt to sign Craig Conway on a free from Dundee United, or will try and sign David Templeton from Hearts with a fee of around £750k - £1.25 million. McCoist may also attempt to bring Sweden international Sebastian Larsson from Birmingham on a free, although his preference is to stay in the Premier League. This is similar to David Vaughan. Rangers have expressed an interest in him and have offered a contract, however his preference is to stay in England.
Rangers are not desperately in need of a striker, however, McCoist will try and sign one in order to create competition up front, and will attempt to sign Young Player of the Year, David Goodwillie from Dundee United for round £1 million - £2.5 million.

in; Goodwillie (2m)
Bartley (loan)
Eremenko (1m)
Gattuso (player/coach)
Alan Smith (free)
Richie Foster (1m)

out; Beattie (1m, Norwich)
Edu (1.5m)
Boughera (1.5m, QPR)

Goodwillie possibly for 1.5m, Bartley probably, Eremenko has been released apparently so free, still not sure we would go for him tho, Gattuso????(would love to see the wee man back) Alan Smith has been linked with us for what seams like decades, doubt it will happen now, wouldn't pay 1m for Foster, 500,000 max imo, would take the money you quoted for the outgoing players.

Ed. I'm thinking we are going to need at least 3 defenders with bougy jumping ship. Any thoughts on who you would like to see. I'm thinking Bartley for sure but just don't know who else. There is nobody In the spl who would do a turn. God knows.

{Ed010's Note -I agree with Bartley but I would like to see a "seasoned" campaigner beside him, other than David Weir and the player that I would love to see at Ibrox, is Jonathan Woodgate. I know that he is injury prone but if he can get fit, he is only 31 and would be a perfect foil for Bartley. There are two young Scottish defenders, who I think would be good as squad players and they are Steven Saunders of Motherwell and Mark Reynolds of Sheffield Wednesday. I know that both have a lot to learn but they show promise and definitely would be ones for the future.

adam rooney, maybe but i highly doubt it especially if we bring in goodwillie.
frings, strong possibility, i read on eurosport his agent has contacted rangers(old news but just saying)
Donnovan is worth quite a bit more than 2 million probably about 5-9.
dundee will be expecting atleast 1.5 million for goodwilllie especially because there is plenty of clubs interested.
this guy rhodes i've never heard of?? whats his first name??
same with ikios. i doubt we'd risk 6.4 million on two players no ones ever heard of.
weiss is a doubt, mancini wants him in la liga on loan so obviously he plans to have him in the future at city.
there is absolutely no chance of naismith gettin swapped for miller. miller is 31 and naismith is 24. i think naismith is also the better player and on form he's word class.
boughy has 1 year on his contract so will go for about 2 million at the most.
can't see boydy back, ally will want players who want to go places and will put everything into a game and boyd is not that type of player.
i also expect mcgregor to sign a new contract.

To all those who post McCoist is talking to this person and that person,
He is in Florida with Durrant at the Rangers Supporters Convention until Wednesday, when he may then speak to some of these people touted for Rangers , but until then he is NOT speaking to anyone.

Ed. Just my thoughts. I think kenny miller would be a great partner for jelavic. As would goodwillie but goodwillie would cost 5 times the amount. Could the money be spent better elsewhere? 3 defenders, a creative midfielder and possibly a winger.

{Ed010's Note -Ally has a few important decisions to make over the summer and bringing in another forward must be in his thoughts. Certainly Miller was banging in the goals before the transfer window and I agree that he would work well with Jelavic. Jelavic is the type of player that will bring out the best in any player and I have no doubt that Lafferty's goal spree towards the end of the season, was partially due to him. I allso agree we need defenders, especially if Boughie is going and that will be Ally's top priority. I would actually like to see him bring in 2 creative midfielders as that is where we struggle in matches.

Here is a question for yourself and for all Rangers fans. Put yourself in Ally's shoes, you need to bring in a striker and please ignore the latest transfer (Miller) and ignore any potential court case. Would you bring in Miller who is 31 for £400k or would you buy Goodwillie, who is 22 for £2m ?

ED do you think frings will come.

{Ed010's Note -I know that Torsten Frings is 34 and I have advocated that Ally should try and bring in younger players but it is not often that a player of his calibre becomes available and expresses an interest in coming to Rangers. I really do think that he is worth a "punt" on a year's contract. I cannot say that he willcome but I for one, certainly hope so.

So long, Bouggie.
- funkball-

According to scotsman

His contract has only one more season to run and he can now buy his freedom for his basic annual wage, which means Rangers would receive just £1m.

It's believed that clubs interested in signing Bougherra have been quoted a fee of £3m but he prefers to leave on his own terms.

He hopes to attract offers from the Premier League and expects the lower price tag to make him a more attractive proposition

Wake up boogy you are not as good as you think you are you have done ok for Rangers over the past couple of years but lets be honest the SPL does not have the best strikers in the world. if he does get a move to the EPL then it will be to one of the bottom six and more than likely he will be in the Championship a season later remember where we plucked you from Charlton Athletic that's the standard you will end up at once again.

Ed-do we have any other rumours on potential signings-the same names keep being linked-goodwillie, conway, novo, hemed, bartley, frings, and the list goes on.
To date rangers have only signed sogrud twins from man city.

{Ed010's Note -We need to remember that Ally is only likely to tell us who he tried to sign and was unsuccessful in doing so. Any player or players that he is still working on signing, he will not reveal, for fear of another club being tipped off, to their availability. This is how most managers conduct their business. Therefore in the absence of official information, we have rumours and speculation.

To answer your question, there have been hundreds of names linked to Rangers and there are to many for me to list. If you have the time, trawl through the rumours page and you will find well known players but also some more obscure ones. Cheers Ed10

listen

i think everyone needs to take a step back and realise that none of these rumours could be true! i think the only viable rumours so far is D Vaughan, who unfortunetly i think may go to WBA or Sunderland (dont ask me why) the big brazilian CB as he is on a free, and Kyle Bartley which could be a permenent signing as Arsene Wenger doesn't see him in the clubs plans which i find hilarious as he is better than any centre half they have (apart from vermelean). I don't think you will see us sign the likes or Eremenko as mccoist publically stated 'i want players of a certain quality' after signing jelavic i think rangers and mccoist realise what they can get if they spend wisely. We will sign a few loan players in the summer mabey 3 permenent + i believe if we qualify for champions league we will sign more players in january as we will have more cash. Frings did say in an interview for 'urshbigre' (german sports channel) his agent had mentioned rangers but no talks had started with anyone so all this medical talk on wed is nonsence i think he will only be an option if we don't get our top targets . . . such as Vaughan. Nacho Novo will not be coming back why on earth would gers do that? miller may be an option if he drops his wages dramatically but can you see that happening? 50k a week to 15k a week? i don't think so somehow.

Bougherra has been a fantastic player for us but from the day and hour he arrived we have always had these muted threats from him , , he should remember that walter rescued him from charlton reserves and the gers have made his career, , , GET LOST BOUGGY WE DONT WANT YOU

I agree, i don't have a problem with him wanting to go to the premiership as i think players NEED ambition but what they also need is respect for the club that has furtherd his career and a bit of self beleif. he is only invoking this clause because he is worried clubs won't pay the 3 mil we want for him.
i hope he does invoke the clause and loses the court case witch would mean he would have to pay the estimated 3 mil out of his own pocket! !

Wish list:
Alan smith- loan deal or perm needs to get career back on track
Bartley- perm deal
Templeton- ah know he is a Celtic fan but his old man is bluenose not that any of that matters he has massive potential
Gomis- free a good squad player
Goodwillie- perm deal if he doesn't get the jail
Mackail Smith- experienced pro and free
And here is some long shots but I think do able:
tottenham have massive squad so possible loan moves on:
Bas song
Rose
And a biggie in GIOVANNI DOS SANTOS
Thoughts????
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Would LOVE to see Dos Santos in the Ger-see next season as i'm a big fan of mexican football(though he's never really played professionally in mexico). I am skeptical over the transfer, especially considering this is only the second time i've read the rumor on this site, but would love to see it. Considering Tottenham have lent him out 3 times in as many years its possible they're looking to sell him now or at least send him off on loan once again. Either way, not fussed but would LOVE to see it. Any credibility to this rumor though, ed?

Sorry my post was a wish list and not rumour. It annoys me when I see some great young talent being loaned out championship or lower teams such Taraabt and Giovanni D Santos. If Rangers are going to continue to persue loan deals then we need to up the anti, the players mentioned would have learned much more in coming to the Scottish game. Bartley was decent and I ave listed him above however I am certain something better is out there for very little money. cmon Ally not seeing much action let's get it on. WATP

Good luck to Bougherra, i'm not bitter about him wanting to play in a better league. I think he has done well for Rangers but the last couple of years he's said he loved Rangers and gave his all but really wanted to play in a higher standard of league. I hope we keep Weir now as a bit-part substitute player (I say that because I think we need a bit more speed and energy at the back for european football) his experience is invaluable and i'm sure if we bring in someone we are linked to Weir will help them settle in.

Rangers forever.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Whyte did promise 5 mil for 5 years, but it has since been reported that after talks with both smith and ally, he was prepared to invest substantially more this season to get the rebuild going. How much is substantial, only ally and his team will know but rest assured daviebhoy, quality is coming to ibrox.

I still can't see Rangers bringing in many players I feel that all the speculation is very unhelpful to everyone at Rangers. The positives are we are debt free so to speak and lets see how mr whyte deals with the tax issue etc if he can resolve that one and leave us on an even keel and we still can keep the real quality players here for another year or two then even if he does sell up and move on we will all have to thank him for saving the club- besides the 50,000 or so who follow follow the team would have been left with no purpose in their lives imagine being stuck in the house with your wife at the weekends not being able to show face outside the front door in case there were some ceptic fans passing the humiliation of it all! but it was just a nightmare it did, nt really happen guys so now its onward and upwards.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Once again you turn on your own. How can a club with sssssoooo much CL money not hold on to one of their best players? Great piece of business by Rangers there, what a great start to Mr. Whytes new era of dominance.
