Tbh today didn't come as a massive surprise to me, although I still thought we'd win which is why I feel added disappointment.

Whilst we've come a long way under warbs I just feel that were slightly stagnating at the moment. We shouldn't have got carried away after the Celtic victory in April as we only just beat them despite being clearly the better team on the day and they were always going to improve massively after we showed them up.
For me their signings, particularly when they get Sinclair who thrives against slow defenders and is a great player on his day, look like making winning the league a very difficult (not impossible) now so all aims should be on securing Europe for next year.

What really concerns me other than the obvious defensive frailties is the sheer lack of chances we're creating at th moment. Until forester and moh came on we created almost nothing. That's down to the creative players mainly but, having played those positions myself, can also be when the striker doesn't fit the style of play. Controversially, waghorn doesn't cut the mustard as the striker we need for me. He is not a dynamic striker that is vital when facing decent opposition playing a 433, neither is he a target for crosses. Hopefully his injury means that signing another striker who fits this style and standard better. I'm not blaming him for our performance today as there were many below par but I'm yet to be convinced of his quality v spfl sides although I know he score that peach v Motherwell.

We've had the clear signal players are needed and its up to king to ensure that warbs gets the men I'm sure he himself knows we need.

07 Aug 2016 08:44:33
Top post squire!, spot on with your assessment of Waghorn.

06 Aug 2016 21:28:38
Don't want to put too much pressure on the lad but, how outstanding would it be for Joe Dodoo to come in, take his chance, make the centre forward position his own and bag a hat trick next weekend. Warburton made the best out of McKay, Holt, Halliday, Tavernier, Waghorn and even Miller to a point that they were playing the best football of their careers.

Hopefully he can do the same with Joe Dodoo, Jordan Rossiter, Matt Crooks, Josh Windass and Lee Hodson.

Warburton is doing a wonderful job. Results like this will pop up here and there throughout the season but there is always the next game and doubt we'll play the way we did today next time round.

Loved the Waghorn song today, had no idea it was going to play. What's the Dodoo song?

07 Aug 2016 07:16:01
I honestly think hodson will be our first choice right back by Christmas.

07 Aug 2016 09:22:02
I actually thought tav was one of our better performers yesterday. attacked and defended in equal measure. as much as i like wallace as a player does any1 else think he's not vocal enough on the park for being the captain? ehen we give chances away you never see him getting in the faces of our players or gee-ing them up.

07 Aug 2016 09:37:26
Thom, my word, when waggers scored the places was bouncing. That song is sensational. Shame he's injured because that was some buzz. I think we should sing it for anyone who scores and make it our goal song.

People moaning about lack of chances until Harry and MOH came on. I agree they offered something different and should've started but we scored (disallowed) and hit the post in the first half. Joey Barton had about 4 strikes on goal. Waggers had a few. Halliday had one. Plenty of chances. Another day and couple of them go in and we're flying. Was a good game, fair result. Smash Peterhead and take that confidence into Dundee game.

06 Aug 2016 21:14:50
ok ok ok---so I'm wrong about lafferty---ill take the hit-----anyone think that moh would make a striker---seems a waste out on the wing----hes big, can control a ball, can shoot (I think) ----worth a try as we have nae dough----.

06 Aug 2016 22:35:24
Decree

MOH is another player who isn't prolific and never has been. He isn't and never will be a goal scorer.

07 Aug 2016 00:18:52
Was never sure he would make a footballer tbh.

07 Aug 2016 07:16:56
moh isn't a striker though and when he came on every time he touched the ball Hamilton were on the back foot. I'm not his biggest fan but with windass injured and Miller hopeless he must please out wide.

06 Aug 2016 20:16:15
IMO we should be breaking the bank to get Josh Magennis to sign for us.

06 Aug 2016 20:29:12
yeah, someone talking sense at last!

06 Aug 2016 21:18:53
Dont really know much about him but Kilmarnock turned down a bid today from Charlton for £100,000, i think a wee cheeky £250,000 and he's ours.

06 Aug 2016 21:37:41
I posted in June that I thought he would be a decent signing. Strong and quick and would give us options at free kicks/ corners. You could see how important he was to Kilmarnock in the playoffs. He has never been prolific but maybe playing for a team that creates a lot more chances would change that.

06 Aug 2016 22:40:10
I like a bit of banter but seriously. get a grip lads. Maggennis is rubbish. Really rubbish. Couldn't cut it at the sheep or even down the road at St mirren! We ain't getting RVP doesn't mean we go from Rolls Royce to Robin Reliant. Have patience guys.

06 Aug 2016 22:51:14
Would take him in a minute. Every player does not start off as a star, they have to work at it, and I think that he would fit the bill.

TBBaB.

07 Aug 2016 07:17:22
no chance no where near good enough. we should have signed hemmings before he went down south.

07 Aug 2016 08:17:11
Cee

Would agree about Hemmings this guy proved he could score goals in the premiership and at £250k surely it was worth taking the risk. We are badly needing a striker now and depending on how bad Waghorn's injury is we may need 2. Currently we have a past it striker and a young untested guy as our only 2 options.

06 Aug 2016 20:11:48
we may all be 5 a side managers, but you don't need to be a footballing genius to see we need a good CH and a good CF, but, and its a big but, where do you get a Colin Stein, Ally McCoist, Mark Hateley, Dado Prso, Lorenzo Amoruso, Richard Gough etc etc etc for the penny pinching wages we have on offer?
We are stuck in a bubble with NO money to spend yet we still don't want to give youngsters a try? Just doesn't make any sense at all.
I remember once upon a time we gave a 16 year old a game, his name was Derek Johnstone, enough said.

06 Aug 2016 19:19:17
"In warbs we trust"
"The transfer window is just started"
"Hill can do a job, look what Davie Weir did when he came"
This is only some of the guff I've heard on here the last few weeks.
Since the turn of the year every single one of us, could see where the team needs strengthened.
Central defense!
Reality check time on here for some of us.
That defense is not good enough to win the SPL that's not a jerk reaction to today, it's not doom and gloom.
It's a fact!
I'm 100% behind the manager and the changes and progress we've made in the last year, but it's blatantly obvious we have no money to spend.

06 Aug 2016 20:23:18
I thought we were pretty awful today but this team needs time. I don't expect to win the league this year, it would be a magnificent achievement but we need to keep in mind we have only just been promoted.

The current crop need to step up a level and get to know the new guys.

We definitely need another cb and cf but if we can't get the right player then i'd rather we wait than panic buy and get left paying needless wages again.

We are definitely a work in progress but I believe we have a manager who can build a really great team if given time.

I think he needs at least to be given a couple of years in the premier before he can really be judged.

There are things we all know need addressing, but the style of play is a million times better and we are only going to improve.

06 Aug 2016 20:40:13
Barton was good, McKay was drosski, to light weight, no brave enough. Tav was excellent, need Barton and rossiter holding with one going up now and again.
Three mods ohalloran, niko, Harry, wi miller up top.

06 Aug 2016 22:42:12
Stuzo

Don't think Miller is the answer up front. He has been a great servant to the club however age has caught up with him and he can't be relied upon to score the amount of goals needed from a striker.

06 Aug 2016 19:27:16
Today was not about the defence it was about the final third, we should be knocking at least 3 past Hamilton.

06 Aug 2016 19:33:27
Certainly true, but the defence wasn't the problem today. Anyone know if Windass will be back for next week?
Dave King said in Rangers tv that they are working on a couple of deals before the transfer window deadline.

06 Aug 2016 19:49:28
Spot on he's very average were less than average. Septic will win the league easy and still numpties on here will say Warbs is fantastic. No he's not he's fekin awful wake up and smell the lilies.

06 Aug 2016 19:01:56
Warburton has done a brilliant job but as yet hasn't strengthened correctly, Gareth McAuley and Will Grigg should've been signed as well as a commanding goalkeeper.

The spine of the team isn't strong enough and given that the 3 boys (above) have been signed.

4-2-3-1

New Goalkeeper

Tavernier
McAuley
Wilson
Wallace

Rossiter
Crooks

Windass
Barton
McKay

Grigg

Don't really understand given that Celtic aren't a good team why a few quid has not been spent making sure Rangers make a real challenge.

06 Aug 2016 19:22:32
Watched a Walter Smith interview from before the Old Firm semi.

He said MW had to be supported as well as he was supported in order to compete. We all know the club's in a different place altogether now, but it remains, the club must support the manager with reasonable funds.

It's went from, rumours of Will Grigg and Lee Gregory and Tom Bradshaw, all would command decent fees, to doubtful we'll be able to pay over £500,000 for a player.

There is little chance we'd even get a decent striker on loan from the EPL given the wages they're on. So now it's Greg Stewart. Just Fab.

06 Aug 2016 19:39:24
I doubt we could afford Greg Stewart just now.

06 Aug 2016 20:23:31
We need a big cb coming into his prime not one at 36 mark beevers are david wheater would of been good signings. But you couldn't of had mccauley and hill in same team. I would of certainly of had mccauley rather than hill. But wages would of been a problem. And I would of given hardy a try instead of miller.

06 Aug 2016 21:02:07
we could sign ramos and Pepe doesn't matter we still have full backs who cant/ won't tackle.

06 Aug 2016 21:28:24
Hodson can defend.

06 Aug 2016 22:40:17
Yes hooly78 lee hodson can defend but I honestly thought tav played well today along with barton and halliday imo was very unlucky to get substituted as he played well, thought harry forrester was superb and very direct when he came on, what a pass with the outside of his right foot for waggy to draw us level, o'halloran also very direct when he came on.

07 Aug 2016 09:34:55
I agree moh made a difference but it always seems to me its only when he comes off the bench. when he starts he's neve as effective for me.

06 Aug 2016 19:08:25
Mcauley will be on a good wage and will grigg cost about £2.5million.

06 Aug 2016 19:35:49
As long as Stewart's finishing is better than MOH. Gregory would be an ideal signing, scores nearly every week.

06 Aug 2016 19:51:48
Aye ure right done a brilliant job strength in everywhere but central defence. guys like u fun up gers.

06 Aug 2016 18:55:21
It's the 6th of August, transfer window closes at the end of the month.

With Waghorn likely out for a number of weeks, how can we go with a strike force of Kenny Miller, full stop. No other options bar a 36 year old who has lacked sharpness in the League Cup, against Burnley and again today.

Joe Dodoo can play in the central role but anyone else think Hardie might be recalled.

But surely a striker will be signed before next weekend. Is it not a must along with a central defender?

Or is it an overreaction to say only one main striker for over a month isn't going to be enough.

06 Aug 2016 19:44:12
Maybe it will force Dodoo into the centre of the team.

06 Aug 2016 18:27:02
I think Danny Wilson is actually a quality defender. I have watched him from his youth to coming into the team with Davie Weir and then if we are being honest and realistic forced out the door for a good transfer fee and probably in his own mind better wages which stalled his career. Liverpool then wasted him for a few years making only two appearances for them then being loaned out to Blackpoool and Bristol City making little to no appearances (6 and 1 respectively) .

H.

06 Aug 2016 18:58:00
Quality lol so he is.

06 Aug 2016 20:17:15
Cant believe someone used the words "quality" and "danny wilson" in the same post 😂😂.

06 Aug 2016 21:02:49
he is a good defender and our best by far. not many better in Scotland.

06 Aug 2016 21:10:56
He's our best central defender.

Personally I think he has failed to live up to his early promise, move to Liverpool was a mistake.

06 Aug 2016 21:26:43
Not many better in scotland? he's argubaly not even the best at ibrox.

07 Aug 2016 01:02:34
I got to laugh as it wasn't so long ago this guy was along side Davie at the heart of our defence and we were all praising the lad but now ( even though both our fullbacks leave our defence wide open and no fault of theirs as its how we play ) he seems to be the escape goat! The boy Wilson ain't as bad as you all think and I'm sure all the negativity spoken abou r defence wither here or other social media websites are doing them the power of good if read by them or others close to them!

We need to support every single one of our squad, the manager, the back room staff hell I even gave the steward a pat on the back for directing me to the wrong seat ( which I've had for nearly 20 yrs now ) !

07 Aug 2016 07:48:08
Escape goat lol.

06 Aug 2016 19:34:43
I thought kiernan had a decent game. People are far too hard on the lad. The worst player on that park today by a country mile was Niko. Hope he gets match fit soon. Joey Barton MOTM? Don't make me laugh, he was bang average at best. Tav was my MOTM today, I'm not his biggest fan in terms of his defensive play but today he showed a real improvement in that aspect of his game. Once again, the addition of Harry and MOH changed the tempo of the game in our favour. These lads have got to start the next game. Miller is a sub at best. Shame about shaghorn. Pure gutted for him. Let's give Dodoo and MOH a chance through the middle.

06 Aug 2016 17:38:49
I don't care what anyone says about my post, but I would offer Big Bougherra a contract in a minute especially if we can't attract anyone else, he might be a bit older now but he's got to be still miles ahead of Kiernan any day of the week guys a liability and looked out of place in that team today. Win the SPL not with a defence like that. Worst Rangers defence in the whole history of our club.

06 Aug 2016 18:15:29
MW is about only person who seems to rate Kiernan. He makes too many mistakes, lacks concentration, awareness and positional sense.

He made several mistakes today that he was very lucky to get away with.

06 Aug 2016 20:17:44
Boogie would do a job to b fair.

06 Aug 2016 22:07:33
For me, Haliday made more mistakes than anyone else today yet he seems to be the shining light for most people on here. Kranjcar was just as poor but he clearly isn't fit and shouldn't be starting at the moment.

06 Aug 2016 18:06:20
Don't think bougherra is the answer but agree with kiernan. Not fit to wear the jersey and looks lost every game.

06 Aug 2016 17:13:37
Miller is far too ineffective upfront. Shouldn't be playing.

06 Aug 2016 18:17:11
He's too old to be a starter - but we don't have many other options. Even less now waghorn is out for a while.

06 Aug 2016 18:28:21
Didn't see much from Warbs or Bazza to say they were any better. In fact until moved inside Warbs looked slow of foot and mind, plain awful out wide. To have watched that game and single out one player is nonsense.

06 Aug 2016 17:07:28
u get what u pay for and that sums
up to days performance
we look like if we make top six to grateful.

06 Aug 2016 17:30:19
It is a role reversal of the early 90s, only now Celtic are spending big and we are hunting around the pound shop looking for bargains.

Personally I think we will be doing well to finish second this season and think some of our fans need to be more realistic in their expectations.

06 Aug 2016 18:05:10
Top 2 is realistic. It's the spfl not la liga.

06 Aug 2016 22:24:45
Bosshog celtic are spending big? Where did you read that? 3 players they have brought in for 4 million (according to the newspapers, its more than we have spent granted, but if they don't qualify for europe, watch them off load, most of there first team players, if they can shift the deadwoood.

06 Aug 2016 17:04:31
I wonder if kranjer can play in a 3 in midfield I was surprised when he signed and said his position was number 10 behind striker. Have we signed a great player but maybe doesn't fit into our system? He just doesn't look fit yet he is of course a great talent so will reserve judgement as just one game.

I thought JB talked well after game, too early to panic and better these results now when we have rest of transfer window to add 1 or 2. Onwards and upwards!

06 Aug 2016 17:35:58
if we play 433 we need to start Holt or Windass these guys will look to get into the box and support the striker. A lot of our success last season was from Holt dragging defenders out of position. I'm sure Warburton knows that but unfortunately they were both unfit.

If we want the best from Kranjcar then we need to play 4231 which I'm surprised we haven't considering it was the formation Warburton played at Brentford.

06 Aug 2016 18:19:46
Warbsbluearmy spot on mate. if we're playing 3 in the mid krankjar can't be 1 of them and iv even got my doubts abt halliday. far to often he gets caught in possesion.

06 Aug 2016 22:09:31
CallamR and Bluedie, finally 2 people talking sense.

06 Aug 2016 16:53:19
ok --yes we need a 6 yard poacher---lets swallow some pride and sign lafferty ---he baled but a pro footballers life is short---he would do a job and play for the jersey and not cost much----ill takome flak here but who cares----gimme options right now-.

06 Aug 2016 17:18:41
When was he a 6 yard poacher? He has never been prolific and that's what we need.

06 Aug 2016 18:00:54
Your spot on biffo, he's not the answer and if we sign him it us purely out of desperation.

We have signed too many midfielders and ignored the two key positions CD and CF - just about every person in Scotland knows these are our weaknesses.

I don't get why hardie hasn't been given a chance to be the CF we need. If he's not getting a chance now then when.

06 Aug 2016 18:01:16
Lafferty 6 yard poacher away and give us peace he's not the answer.

06 Aug 2016 18:23:05
freedom of speech ----give me options instead of insults---.

06 Aug 2016 19:10:52
Deecee

Who is insulting you? Just pointing out Lafferty isn't a 6 yard box striker. He has never been prolific and we need someone who is prolific.

06 Aug 2016 19:26:10
not you biffo-----betcha he would've scored today----I'm asking for options----don't see much out there.

06 Aug 2016 20:19:24
Warbs will never buy a poacher aslong as he's the gaffer because he likes guys who can play anywer along the 3.dont usually get poachers that can do that.

06 Aug 2016 19:48:56
Crazy as it sounds we could do worse than Scott MacDonald. Goalscorer, can play, probably sharper than Miller, another oldie I'm serious, are we maybe a tad too fussy?

06 Aug 2016 16:33:30
Rumours kicking about it's 4 to 6 weeks for waggy, now it's time to get moh some game time along with doodoo, unfortunately i think kranjer might end up a luxury player we can't afford, some gorgeous touches and passes but absolutely no energy Forrester was immense direct and plenty of energy, jb was again stand out though couple of sloppy passes but looks solid.
First game against a well organised side who yeah should of beat but they'll take points off a few this season.

06 Aug 2016 16:37:57
I thought they were very average tbh. No danger they will be a top 6 side and think they will be bottom 3.

06 Aug 2016 16:53:05
Miller shouldn't be near the starting 11. Thought forrester was very good when he came on. Not enough players getting in the box.

06 Aug 2016 17:03:21
I couldn't care if it was 4-6 months waggy was out. he slows the play down and forever trying hollywood passes. halliday gets caught in possesion far to much and can't believe he gets away with it off the fans. everytime there's an attack we look like we"ll concede and they only had abt 3 bloody attacks.

06 Aug 2016 18:03:56
MOH is not good enough. Said it before we singed him, not seen him do anything in a rangers jersey to change my mind.

He has pace, can beat a man but can't pass, can't score and lacks vision.

Would love to be proved wrong.

06 Aug 2016 19:13:20
Had to be honest when MOH came on I wasn't expecting him to do much. He hasn't done much since signing and his end product has been poor. Maybe a run in the team might help but honestly don't see him as a major player.

06 Aug 2016 17:00:23
I Thot Barry mc had a good game his pace will because lots of problems this season
Forester looks like he did before he got injured
Joey Barton was solid he will only get better as the season moves on
Niko it's looking abit slow and off the pace he should be used every 2 to 3 game
Wags looked sharp pity he got injured
Tav was a it better than usual
Oh has pace to burn and we will need that pace
Sloppy goal to loose tho he sent the to Rangers the wrong way with the cut back
Looking forward to crooks and windass playing some hight and windass running at defenders.

06 Aug 2016 18:53:30
Gers were poor today, big difference when Forrester came on, it's obvious krankjar isn't fit, with waghorn.

06 Aug 2016 19:05:48
With waghorn out, why not play d
Forrester dodoo and McKay up front, defences don't like players running at them with pace, I love Gers playing the passing game but when that's mot working we've not got a plan b, Kieran was his usual rubbish and hill has no pace, we're crying out for a central defender who knows how to defend, if we don't sort this, forget winning the league.

06 Aug 2016 16:28:57
I hate to criticise the manager but some of his decisions over the summer have been baffling.
To be starting our first home game with Kiernan and Hill at CB is simply not good enough. I think a decent, quick CB could make Wilson, Hill and even Kiernan look good in beside them, but it's quite clear neither combination of the 3 work together.
Niko shouldn't be near the team till he's fit, not with guys like Rossiter, Forrester and Holt on the bench fit and itching to go.
MOH starts on the right for me every time.
Having said all that I still think we have a great squad that just needs tweaking, the only worry for me is the manager can't see the gaping deficiencies in the team.
Top quality CB and ST is a must after today's showing, or it could be costly. Let's hope hearts take something off them tomorrow!

06 Aug 2016 16:52:40
Spot on, kranjcar isn't fit, I said to my brother just b4 the kick off that imo warbs picked the wrong team, for a start i would have had rossiter, forrester and dodoo in from the start, possibly even m, oh, i would have brought on miller after an hour, I'm not usually a negative poster but I was really disappointed with today's performance but hopefully when we get all of our new players in the team it will get better.

06 Aug 2016 18:22:58
Recbob do you honestly think if everyone was available that would have been his chosen central defence. Have you been in South America for the summer?

06 Aug 2016 16:13:04
Thought team looked very disjointed today. The midfield was way too deep in my opinion and the communication was non existant at times. Early days but we must get a centre half and centre forward. Hope waggys not out too long. Long way to go!

06 Aug 2016 16:32:02
waghorns is not good enough to play wide, miller is not good enough to play. Wallace needs to learn to tackle although I thought halliday played okay.

06 Aug 2016 16:56:59
Bit harsh on miller, i would play kenny from the bench, he does well coming on as a sub, but I totally agree, the team did look very disjointed today, I was really disappointed with today's performance.

06 Aug 2016 16:06:17
Disappointed with today's result but purely on the basis that I know we need to take 3 points from teams like Hamilton and not because of the way we played.

They scored a well taken goal that should have been cut out and we managed to level but weren't quite there up front.

Hopefully waghorn isn't out long! I thought Foderingham played well and Barton was a stand out player for me.

I know it's a case of win some, lose some and draw the others, now we are going to get endless; "we should have done this and could do that! " posts from all the five a side managers on here!

On to the next match and hopefully we don't show any respect to the next opponent.

06 Aug 2016 17:09:19
Rafbob you've just said the cross SHOUD be cut out then in the nxt sentence you mention the rest of us being 5 a side managers saying we SHOULD and SHOULDNT be doing that. make you're mind up.

06 Aug 2016 18:19:27
Aren't you the guy who thinks we only had 3 attacks today?

Anyway, if you think saying a ball should be cut out is the same as saying who should and shouldn't play, or what formation we should use then you carry on.

06 Aug 2016 18:41:03
*they only had 3 attacks?

06 Aug 2016 19:37:59
They had abt 3 attacks. read it right pal.

06 Aug 2016 20:36:33
Wrote it wrong pal, we all make mistakes but looking at your response you already seen I had corrected myself.

lol 😁.

06 Aug 2016 16:05:18
slow. Predictable . No energy . Very poor. Kranjar looked like he'd been retired 5 years! McKay had a decent game but he looks like he is playing a training match at times, I'd like to see him be a bit more dynamic and show more as he looks capable however he frustrates me as he looks like he is playing at 70% . Holt must have been sat on the bench thinking how am I not starting here.

06 Aug 2016 16:03:50
What's not surprising was that wasn't even a wake up call. Barton makes a big difference but that's about it from last season. We've got to hope that players like O'Halloran, Windass, Forrester and Dodoo can get into the starting 11. Hodson too looks the part.

06 Aug 2016 16:01:54
Come on Bears, anyone still think we don't need a centre forward signed?

That was woeful the day. Barton had a good couple of attempts from distance. Kenny started! He had a non existent pre season but he starts and MOH and Harry are benched?

Also why on earth was Rossiter brought on for Andy? A straight swap is simply wrong, when your drawing 1-1 at home. Was Andy injured?

06 Aug 2016 17:11:17
No Andys mince mate. caught in possesion far to often and looks like he's got cement in his boots that's why he got hooked.

06 Aug 2016 15:58:46
Not the best today but not the end of the world . still think we need a CF something that wee bit different if we need a goal like today forrester was crossing balls in but nobody in the box, o'halloran needs to start on right for me, miller not good enough and gaffer needs to mix it a bit instead of keep playing this short passing game.

06 Aug 2016 15:47:41
Think given time we will come good plus maybe a forward coming in and more fitness around the team . onwards and upwards.

06 Aug 2016 15:26:03
Lee Wallace not good enough? **** me how fickle we are sometimes. yes today was disappointing but enough to bring out the 'boos brigade'. get a grip and back the team instead of everyone thinking they are Jose after one good season on champ manager!

06 Aug 2016 16:00:38
The Euphoria of being in the Top Tier will die down after a few games. Playing against SPL Teams week in week out will expose dire defending. Winning the SPL? A top 4 place would be an achievement.

06 Aug 2016 16:07:18
Loki

Unless something changes during the rest of the transfer window then would agree top 4 will be achievement. Hamilton were average but looked comfortable throughout game. Warburton has learned nothing from last season. Poor defensively for goal and loads of possession with no real end product.

06 Aug 2016 16:15:48
Loki? God of mischief. Hmmmmmm.

06 Aug 2016 15:19:11
what is it with MW that he doesn't think any of our young guys are up to it? Thompson, out on loan, Walsh out on loan, Hardie out on loan. All three should be in our first team squad, and already there is a problem up front with Pie and chips Waghorn outwith hamstring probs? And what is wrong with giving Ross McCrorie a chance in defence? nope, we just take a player on loan rom RAITH ROVERS, yes you heard it right, RAITH ROVERS!
And of course we got shot of Gasparotto, who apparently is rated by Canada as an international?
sorry for the rant, but there are too many out there who will not listen to any criticism of MW. He is not perfect and also has a lot to learn at the level we are at now.

06 Aug 2016 15:38:04
it's so that they can play at a higher level it's pretty good for them. worked for mckay.

06 Aug 2016 15:46:07
For me with posts like this you are only displaying ignorance. What is it that qualifies you to know what level the younger players are playing at and why the guy from Raith was brought in?

There is no way it was for first team duties that's for sure. Most likely scenario is either our management team wanted to have a closer look at the lad over a period of time or he was brought in to help the under 20s, but first team squad, you actually believe that?

06 Aug 2016 15:54:22
The boy from Raithby is for the under 20s team

06 Aug 2016 15:55:01
thanks for your replies guys, criticism noted.
My opinion remains the same however.

06 Aug 2016 16:03:22
apart from McKay ( who is hit and miss ) no other loanees have benefitted from being sent out. Hardie scored 6 in 6 outings last season for Raith, but is still deemed not ready for the first team?
don't see the logic in this, also I WAS aware the Raith defender has been brought in to our under 20's but why? don't we generate our own youngsters at Murray Park anymore?

06 Aug 2016 16:18:24
So Waghorn scores 28 goals and gets called pie and chips, yet Hardie scores 6 goals and he needs to be in the squad?

Clarke had a 30 goal season before coming to us and basically done nothing when he signed, there is more to a football match than scoring a few goals. If Hardie isn't ready, he isn't ready.

06 Aug 2016 17:02:47
You need to remember as well with hardie yes he scored 6 goals but 3 of them were in the 1 game plus he is only 19 yr old give him time with st mirren he will get his chance especially when miller is out the squad next season.

06 Aug 2016 15:34:59
Another balanced and well thought out post from our resident mental patient Wee Bill

Please take your mess before posting and try to post one common sense post worth reading

First game 10 men parked bus defence and we are bedding in a new squad

It is called supporting for a reason or we would all be called walkawayslaggers rather than supporters

Support team show some patience.

06 Aug 2016 15:36:40
Again Wee Bill if you didn't take your mess before posting you might have read that the Raith lad is going into our DEVELOPMENT squad YES DEVELOPMENT squad

You are an old dude with no patience or common sense.

06 Aug 2016 15:13:08
first game lads----its not the end of the world and we will lose quite a few games this season but so will others---welcome back bears.

06 Aug 2016 16:14:11
Calm yersell down wee Bill it was only the 1st game, did you honestly think we were going to turn up and pummel a well organised Hamilton side, get a grip this will be a hard slog this season.

06 Aug 2016 15:03:48
A lot of fans were getting carried away leading up to the match and now a lot of fans over reacting after 1 game.

Long season ahead and lots of points to be dropped by every team. I think mw needs to stop being stubborn and realise that 4.3.3 needs to be changed when things are not going right.

06 Aug 2016 15:43:20
Game was so predicable. Loads of possession not many chances created and another poor goal given away. The lack of urgency was evident for all to see and it's clear there are major deficiencies defence and attack. It was evident last season yet we start of this season the same way.

06 Aug 2016 15:58:48
If we can only have 4 shots on target out of 20 against a team that people predict to get relegated we're not going to score many against the better teams in the league. MW still doing the same as last season, 60 minutes then substitutes. He must be the only manager that hasn't a plan B when things are not going well. I know it's only the 1st game but imo if there's no improvement we're going to be in trouble.

06 Aug 2016 16:11:28
I have to agree about the substitutions, it was frustrating. Clearly by half time it was not working and the next 15 minutes only went on to prove that, he needs to make substitutions earlier if they are necessary. And it is always the same, 2 subs on 60 then another last 15-20. Leaves incidents like losing Waghorn and going down to 10 a possibility by playing your subs that way week in, week out.

06 Aug 2016 15:29:17
No mate, not over reacting, it is painfully obvious that warbs doesn't know how to defend, nor put players in their position and let them play, taking 3 players off in a short period is nonsense, particularly when you don't actually have a plan? Then a player goes down injured? What now. ? Nothing, that what, players playing all over the park, nobody knows what they should be doing, why in gods earth was the forward line not Ohalleron, dodoo, and Forrester ? I would put my fortune on that line scoring goals, again mckay couldn't get a cross in or beat the last man, again Kenny was starved of the balll, although he is a very poor finisher, again the opposite side knew how to play, its easy for them, it will be worse with better teams, not overreacting, just honest, playing without a team cohesion and system. Maybe we will struggle to stay in touch over next few weeks.

06 Aug 2016 15:01:33
That team will win nothing this year it's that simple niko is a waste of space.
The one that gets me the most is the criticism tav gets and Lee captain stayed for the journey Wallace who is just as bad if not worse than tav and was also at fault for the goal not closing Crawford down quick enough rant over but Lee Wallace is not good enough.

06 Aug 2016 15:17:42
Lee Wallace not good enough? **** me how fickle some people are, total over reaction to one result. disappointing today yes but it's more than enough to bring out 'boos brigade'. get a grip and get behind the team instead of getting a woody over moaning.

06 Aug 2016 15:37:59
Come on to ****! Are you talking about Lee Wallace! As in our captain Lee Wallace!? Give it a rest! That guy is the best lb in Scotland! Moronic criticism at times.

06 Aug 2016 16:06:47
Your having a laugh Scott. Best left back? 4 years V lower level clubs and he looks the part. KT 18 playing in Top Tier games and European games is better and will go from strength to strength. That's only my opinion and your's differs but that's the nature of the game.

07 Aug 2016 09:04:35
Loki, my opinion is Wallace has proven himself over a period of time whereas teirney has had 1 season where he shone in a shoddy celtic team. If teirney can keep that level of consistency over a sustained period of time, 2 or 3 seasons then yes he will be the best lb in the country, until such times its Wallace as a no brainer for me!

Just my opinion tho, u r entitled to urs.

06 Aug 2016 15:37:51
Hmmmm another Tim in disguise w clone Gannet as reading your posts you are no Rangers fan certainly not a genuine fan.

06 Aug 2016 14:58:18
Well done lads, good result i think, if you can keep the performances like that you should make top 6 no probs, 😂.

06 Aug 2016 15:12:48
Be lucky to get top 6!

06 Aug 2016 15:39:27
It'll be a long fall from that high horse your on there boy wonder, u must be extremely bored of the cleric rumours page to come on here and gloat.

06 Aug 2016 16:43:50
not gloating scotty, its called banter/ fishing, take your pick. i'm sure ill get it back during the season.

06 Aug 2016 14:44:08
Really disappointing performance and result.

Hamilton pressed us well, were organized in defence and took their chance well. They deserved their point.

But bear in mind we had won 19 games I'm a row against them, they are favourites for relegation and Celtic put 8 past them last season- we wouldn't have got 8 even if they didn't come out for 2nd half.

From our perspective we were all over the place in defence, lacked sharpness, looked unfit and were slack in possession.

Forester was our best player by a mile. Struggling to give anyone else more than 5/ 10.

We obviously don't have any money but it is blindingly obvious we need more quality in defence and a striker. Dk promised investment but hasn't delivered, time to do so.

This squad will really struggle in this division. Celtic, Aberdeen and hearts are all stronger at the moment.

06 Aug 2016 15:00:24
We are honking in the final third. McKay is being acclaimed as superstar already. Are we blinkered, he can't cross, runs past right back then ALWAYS cuts back, no guts to win a ball proven by crapping himself twice in 10 secs as challenges went in. How many times he look for ball second half/ or have ball- didn't see many. Lad has potential but not what he's made out to be, know I'll get slated by McKay lovers but can he play a simple pass- how many moves break down through him.

06 Aug 2016 15:03:30
I think Warbs got the line up wrong today, we lacked pace and sharpness. Rossiter, Forrester and O'halloran should have been playing from the start ahead of Kranjcar, Halliday and Miller. This was what I was saying to my brother before the game started for anyone suggesting it would be easy to say that now. Its too early to be slating the team though it is our first game and you can't play that down, we need to show more patience rather than demanding so much so soon.

I thought we were looking like we could go on to get the winner until Waghorn went down so in the end we suffered some bad luck to top off an overall poor performance, but it is far to early to right us off yet.

06 Aug 2016 15:06:27
forrester and ohalleron on wings all day long.

06 Aug 2016 15:40:57
Forrester is an absolute must to be starting.

06 Aug 2016 17:41:43
definetly changed the game when he came on. We have fast players but play at a slow pace the mind boggles.

06 Aug 2016 14:39:54
right all you philosophers out there
63% possession
20 shots (4 on target)
10 corners, all wasted.

One thing that will make me cringe is MW making the usual statement "well we will learn from it "
We have NEVER learned from it, and we are no further on. Yes its only the first game, but the 4,3,3 tippy tappy football needs fixing, and we need to recognise just what IS our best line-up . If Hamilton can suus us out, what chance do we have when real tough opposition hits us? This was 2 points dropped and THAT is all we can learn from it.
Fingers out time guys - Hamilton? surely we can do better!

06 Aug 2016 15:25:32
The only thing I agree with here is that we need to recognise our best lineup, and that definitely was not it today, at least at this stage. With Haliday and Kranjcar in there we had no energy or pace in the middle of the park, we need to be playing our fittest, most energetic team at this early stage of the season. Yes Haliday done some decent stuff on the ball as usual but for all the decent things he does he also leaves himself exposed and gives the ball away just as much.

We will look a much better team with the likes of Windass, Forrester, Rossiter to come in and possibly O'halloran and Dodoo making a difference if getting starts. Mckay was terrible today but I rate him and he will come good, just a bad day for him IMO.

06 Aug 2016 15:39:21
Wee Bill off his mess again I see can his nurse please make sure he gets them during Rangers games so that he doesn't come on here talking nonsense like he does most games.

06 Aug 2016 14:38:07
Warburton says be patient .

06 Aug 2016 14:49:24
Patient!, the only patient I'll be is in an assylum.

06 Aug 2016 15:40:15
Say hello to Wee Bill he has been an in patient for 3 years you can always tell as his posts show when he is off his meds.

06 Aug 2016 14:37:48
Excellent performance from Barton and an excellent post-match interview. Conducted himself true class on and off the pitch.

06 Aug 2016 15:02:42
He gave the ball away constantly it's an embarrassment he got man of that match.

06 Aug 2016 15:21:53
Was mcann that gave him it tho, a man so far up rangers arse its quite embarrassing, barton once fit will be a standout,

06 Aug 2016 15:51:00
Barton had a good game today. Him, Foderinham and Tav for me were the only players that started that showed the right attitude and desire to dig in and turn the game around. Barton's tough tackles led to our equaliser and almost a second for Waghorn, and other than the 2 or 3 passes you are talking about, sprayed the ball around really well.

06 Aug 2016 14:33:59
wht a 💩start giving a chance to other teams to pull 2 points clear already. just not good enough still the same crap at the bk as last year. and today no cutting edge up top. gutted was buzzing after the start we was making.

06 Aug 2016 14:32:00
Are we all blinkered singing McKay name. How many times beat a man with pace then turn back, has no skill just pace, bottled every tackle in that game. 2nd have did he have the ball, showed absolutely nothing and final pass no matter if is 5 or 50 yards is shocking. I get behind him when we playing and know all the McKay lovers be on slating me but others must see it and I don't just mean one game.

06 Aug 2016 15:03:07
He was rotten.

06 Aug 2016 14:45:05
Interesting you single out McKay. What did Haliday and Waghorn do that was better. Midfield were poor I watched Barton get pickpocketed twice. I concede Bazza was poor but he was one of many who on the day were just not up for the fight. Grim start.

06 Aug 2016 14:30:39
Well our main goalscorer looks to be out for a while nows the time to get a striker and cb.

06 Aug 2016 14:38:38
Main striker is out - time to get a center back? Incredible.

06 Aug 2016 14:41:29
Did you no see the bit when he said striker and centre back or.?

06 Aug 2016 15:02:46
The poster clearly states the need for a striker.

06 Aug 2016 14:36:58
Thankfully King is here, no doubt he'll sit down with Warbs and get the chequebook out. There is no excuse for that result.

06 Aug 2016 15:42:52
The Campbell

The Specsavers

Is Open

Go There

The Now.

06 Aug 2016 14:26:19
Prove you can cut it where we ware now not where we were last year and then get your money.

06 Aug 2016 14:25:40
On that performance it a joke that certain players were looking for a better wage deal.

06 Aug 2016 14:23:58
Ii don't want to hear any more talking about giving teams respect. We are sitting too deep and not enough men in the box. Its only Hamilton get a grip gers.

06 Aug 2016 14:37:35
100%. ar9. miss wee holt making runs in t box. Barton playing 2 deep and Ma grans quicker than krancjar. back to reality after playn the heavyweights of Annan, east Stirling etc gawn b along season am afraid.

06 Aug 2016 13:44:52
Forgot to add waghorn poor and looks a yard off the pace.

06 Aug 2016 13:52:32
him and Miller men down.

06 Aug 2016 13:58:25
That's y forester needs to start! Fantastic pass for the goal.

06 Aug 2016 13:42:57
Can only hope for improvement in second half but not quick enough going forward and not good enough in defence. Early days but did expect better.

06 Aug 2016 13:51:32
Waggy is not a bloody rw! Totally ineffective from wide

Kiernan is a bombscare waiting to happen! Our efe!

06 Aug 2016 12:57:33
Why is rossiter not playing? kranjcar isn't fit. sorry to say this, but we're not good enough to win this league, I might get better when we get all our new signings fit and on the park.

06 Aug 2016 13:13:14
Knew that before the game, but based on this it might be more of a struggle than many expected.

I have the feeling that without a striker and new defender that this team might really struggle this season.

Defence in particular isn't fit for purpose.

06 Aug 2016 13:32:59
Hate to say it, but this is exactly to be expected. We are not quick enough, smart enough or hard enough to break down Hamilton.
Reality check for a load of people on here I think.

06 Aug 2016 13:46:10
Holy shit, 45 mins in and people throwing towel in already.

06 Aug 2016 13:55:38
Sorry C72, but this has been coming for months. I have been consistently saying the same thing. If MW can't see what everyone else in Scottish football can see then we have a problem.

06 Aug 2016 14:21:16
Not throwing the towel in yet but I'm not happy with the team imo MOH Rossiter Hodson and Gilks should be starting. Possibly Forrester instead of Nico too he's just not fit yet.

06 Aug 2016 14:32:19
That was pathetic.

06 Aug 2016 13:03:05
I'm watching the game and I agree he's a yard off the pace we have just went 1 down I'm a little worried now.

06 Aug 2016 12:31:36
Any truth in rumour that broxi the bear will be our new defensive signing?

06 Aug 2016 13:01:33
Sorry in boozer - that was my less than funny pals idea of a joke.

06 Aug 2016
The real time live chat page is open for today's Rangers match at the below link for you to talk to each other during the match
Rangers Live Chat page

06 Aug 2016 10:44:33
Good luck today lads! Can't be there due to my own football commitments but I'll be thinking of you! Let's go for 55 with the passion we are world renowned for!

We are the People!

06 Aug 2016 11:52:23
Nice to see that Murdoch's sport are showing a documentary on the persons before coverage of our match. At least we know where their loyalties lie.

06 Aug 2016 10:44:31
Would Rubén Reid be worth a punt as a free agent was in League two team of year in 2014? Not the best goal return last year but if we can't get a Will Greg, lee Gregory or Sam winnall he might be a good option. From some clips he looks more of a goal poacher and a decent finisher which is what we need. Any thoughts?

06 Aug 2016 10:15:13
It's great to be back where we belong and Ibrox is going to be rocking today! It's going to be a long season but if the fans all stick together and get behind the team it can be a successful one! Let's be patient today, get behind our team and show the rest of the world why we are the only show in town! Proud to be a Ranger, then, now and always! Going for 55.

06 Aug 2016 10:46:15
Great Post agree 100%. we must show patience this season but i think it will be a great year for us bears. c'mon the Rangers.

06 Aug 2016 11:35:05
Think there will be ups and downs, but after last few years it's time to enjoy it and get right behind the only show in town.
ONWARD and UPWARDS.

06 Aug 2016 09:12:13
Warburton talks about us being priced out of getting players in on either loan from EPL or permanent from championship as we can't compete on wages which given our past problems, this is good to hear. Does anyone know if we are actively trying to look at options abroad? I think what MW, DW and Frank Mcp have done so far in transfer market is great but I wonder does Frank Mcp have a good track record of the foreign market?

06 Aug 2016 10:01:43
Good question I have no idea he won't have the same kind of contacts that he does down south though.

06 Aug 2016 08:58:04
Immensely looking forward to going to a jam packed ibrox today as our institution of a football club is back where we belong, honestly I'm like a wean at christmas! Would also like to wish all fellow bears on here and everywhere all the best and to enjoy us being back in the top league, I know we all have disagreements and banter on here but we all want the same thing for the glasgow rangers, we all stick together for that cause! We are the greatest supporters in the world, BAR NONE! We're back and the rest of scottish football knows it alright! We are all proud to support the greatest football club in the world 'THE FAMOUS GLASGOW RANGERS'! Good luck to 'the magic hat' and all the players for the coming season! Bring it on! Most clubs in scottish football thought we were dead well I can assure them all our heartbeat of a football club beats even stronger than before! We're coming and you're going to feel the force! Enjoy the game today one and all!

06 Aug 2016 10:16:42
Great post. The Rangers are coming!

06 Aug 2016 10:34:29
Great post W15.

Also great post from Janesaddiction in the Finance section where he fishes with a quote from Bill Struth.

"I am never happier than when the outside world has us beaten before a ball is kicked - for then I know the true greatness of our club will be revealed. "

Enjoy the Day lads.

06 Aug 2016 10:35:57
3-0 miller 1st goal.

06 Aug 2016 10:46:02
Fantastic post mate sincere and heartfelt, so proud to be part of the worldwide family that is the mighty Glasgow Rangers, can't wait to see our beautiful stadium bouncing again today.

06 Aug 2016 14:28:48
Reality can be a cruel mistress :-P.

06 Aug 2016 09:52:30
Well said warburton15. I can't be at the game today but I'll hobble to the pub in Southend to watch it. I honestly can't wait for the noise before kick off and WHEN we score a goal. I've been getting goosebumps all morning reading through all the Facebook posts. Do us proud rangers.

06 Aug 2016 08:23:48
Predictions for match day? I'm going for 2-0. Expect a clean sheet as I feel our defensive frailties are exaggerated. Goal scorers being Miller and Wallace. What will be the score and who will score in your opinion?

06 Aug 2016 09:00:39
I'm going for 4-1. 2 up at half time!

06 Aug 2016 09:08:18
Our defence is a bomb scare rangers till death believe me . Softest two centre halves I can remember us having.

06 Aug 2016 09:33:19
I still can't believe some people on here think the defence is ok. Our defence is awful and as a poster said the 2 centre halves are poor.

06 Aug 2016 10:05:10
I predict 5-2 for the Bears today. I think we'll grab goals but I can't see our defence keeping a clean sheet! I back Waggy to score two of the goals.

06 Aug 2016 10:18:17
3 nil to the mighty rangers.

06 Aug 2016 10:57:40
Danny Wilson is solid and has been forced to play along side RK who is clearly our worst player. Not to mention no CDM last season and the only time we have looked weak is when RK and tav play together. We have played 4 friendlies and everyone thinks they can judge if the gaffer is happy I'm more than happy.

06 Aug 2016 12:32:18
our worst defenders are tav and wallace. Wallace doesn't even tackle.

06 Aug 2016 08:34:17
I also think 2-0, Waghorn and McKay.

06 Aug 2016 09:03:31
I'll go for 3-1 today, don't care who scores as long as we get off to a winning start. Ibrox will be bouncing today that's for sure though. Great to be back. 😊.

06 Aug 2016 10:44:34
3-1 Miller, Tav and doodo.

05 Aug 2016 23:45:50
I support Rangers and Southampton (Dads from Govan but I grew up in Hampshire) you need to look at what Southampton are doing, buy low sell high and Rangers can do the same and still play Champions league football.

EPL team owners are mugs and will pay silly money for average players. Rangers just need good scouting and fans that don't demand 'marquee signings' as a 'statement of intent' because it's meaningless nonsense.

06 Aug 2016 09:21:11
Southamptons buy low policy is far beyond our reach

Wanyama 12 million
Foster 10 million
Mane 10 million
Tadic 16 million (I think)

There is a lot more development in a player within rangers price bracket of 0 to 1 million. The idea is right but takes alot.

06 Aug 2016 07:45:17
That's the aim for every club mate to find a rough diamond and polish it up a bit for a healthy profit.

05 Aug 2016 23:23:23
Tomorrow is a massive day for us all. It's been a long journey. I'd like to give thanks to all who played their part. Especially to the one and only Sandy Jardine. Forever in royal blue.

06 Aug 2016 04:25:50
Great post mate. Fully agree. We're going for 55. Battle fever is on.

06 Aug 2016 07:53:45

First ever post, some fans on here are crazy, for me i won't hang our manager out to dry if we don't win the league, giving time he will turn us into something special just wait and see just hope fans don't turn on him.

Bearwithsorehead i agree but this is Rangers and we need to win everything yesterday so the football fickles amongst us won't allow time.

This is my biggest fear. If we can't mount a serious challenge and push them all the way I think the knives will be out. Sad fact of life but then we are Rangers.

Unfortunately bear we Rangers fans Are not known to have a lot of patience Paul le guen being a prime example but I'm with you on this 1,I believe Mark warburton is creating something special for us and I won't be hanging him out to dry if we don't win the league this season.
