Wish folk would stop using that Murty best Aberdeen home and away as ammunition for slating Mcinnes.

Aberdeen haven't kicked a ball since Pedro was sacked, that's a fact. 5 weeks have passed and Aberdeen have won just once in that time, yet before Pedro was sacked he wa UNBEATEN in the league, level on points with the stench.

He's desperate for the job as he is a bluenose through and through, he clearly lost interest at Aberdeen because he knew when Pedro was gone (decision was made after the Motherwell semi final), he was favourite.

Accept that he will be the next Rangers manager and please give him a chance fs. He's not even for the club tie on yet and he's being slated for all he's worth.

06 Dec 2017 23:00:16
You are absolutely right BearMode91. He is desperate for the job. Gee the guy a break. Aw this pish about he couldn't beat Celtic. The gulf between Celtic and the rest is too big and has been for years now. Rangers fans should shut their eyes and imagine if they got the sniff of a chance to manage the club you have loved all your life. support the guy. people on here talking about tactics. Playing fifa on the xbox doesn't count. Back Derek and let's see where it takes us.

06 Dec 2017 23:12:56
Well said bearmode91 to many experts on here saying he’s not the right guy for the job how do they know this if he isn’t given a chance these so called fans want what’s best for us well back the boards choice and let him get on with the job

07 Dec 2017 00:23:47
well said bear mode mate. we have the most bi polar fans sometimes, from ranting about murtys lack of experience after hamilton and dundee, to changing tune after two games against the sheep and thinking he is more qualified than DMc now. worries me that he isn't even in the door yet and a few are lining up taking pops already. let's respect the decision and get behind him 100%. there are plenty more deserving of our wrath in this league

07 Dec 2017 09:27:43
Respect your opinions chaps, especially as this banter page is all about opinions. Just a shame you are the ones getting aw biscuit 'ersed about ours

I have no doubt DM is desperate to get in the big chair, I also believe you'll be as desperate as me to get him out this time next year. But like I say, it's all about opinions. If it's 100% facts you're after, try Mystic Meg

And by the way, like everyone else on here, if DM is the new manager he will get my total support while in the post. And yes, I do hope i'm wrong in my assessment, but no, I won't be keeping my opinions to myself in the hope it will give you fellas a better night's sleep

07 Dec 2017 09:35:26
BearMode

McInnes grew up supporting Morton

07 Dec 2017 10:48:50
Well said birnotablue, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I also have serious doubts about the appointment but will most certainly back my team as I always do. Also I would love to be proved wrong and DM hits the road running with real progression made, but if he doesn't I will come on and give my opinion irrespective of who does or doesn't like it. Like fodtheprod and the others I was not happy with Pedro's appointment and was constantly vilified on this site for criticising him. I heard Mark Guidi on RC say that he should have been bulleted after the European exit. Hate being proved right!

07 Dec 2017 11:34:02
Seeker c’mon lol who hates being proved right?

07 Dec 2017 13:40:40
I know Scotty, but it's a kind of half hearted good feeling lol

08 Dec 2017 08:51:32
BearMode91 are you Jabba in disguise lol?

08 Dec 2017 08:52:33
Mcinnes is an educated appointment rather than a hopeful appointment like ped and warbs. Mcinnes knows the league, the scottish game, the type of player for the scottish game, our club. He has been successful in our game. 3 cup finals, 2nd consistently in the spl for the last 3 seasons. This not beating celtic is nonsense, let's face it Do you think alex ferguson or walter smith could beat celtic to the title with aberdeen and their budget? The answer is naw! Mcinnes has worked wonders up there given his pittance of a budget and has taken them as far as they could possibly go. I hear fans saying we need a big name, A big name is going to want big bucks to spend, reality check required for a lot of fans. The names that fans were suggesting, big sam, de boer, GvB, pulis etc would never come to us unless they were getting tens of millions to spend. Give mcinnes a chance, he's proved he's a good manager that can get success consistently on a small budget. With a bigger budget at us he might just be able to get us challenging properly.

08 Dec 2017 08:54:49
I'll get one thing straight here, before making my point about our potential new manager, derek mcinnes. He wasn't my preferred choice either, just like many fellow bluenose's out there. Having said that BearMode91 is spot on! We should all get right behind derek mcinnes, if as expected, he does become the 17th manager of glasgow rangers! He'll most certainly get my full backing! He is after all "ONE OF OUR OWN"! I know that doesn't mean he'll succeed as our manager but let's us, the greatest supporters in the universe, give him every chance to succeed by getting right behind derek! I've always backed every rangers manager and my team in my well over 40 years of supporting the famous! So if it does come to pass and derek mcinnes becomes our new manager, our message to him should be, "WELCOME HOME"!

06 Dec 2017 22:30:57
Think everyone needs to calm down a bit. Some of you are a sacking a manager who's not even in the job yet. I have to be honest, I have been mightily impressed by Graeme Murty; there is no doubt in my mind he has all the qualities to be a great manager (he has the class required to manage Rangers), but I take the point of those who say not enough experience. (don't necessarily agree though) . But the comparisons being drawn between him and Derek Mc c are at best simplistic, if not completely false. Nothing in football, or indeed life, is as straightforward as that. I am not 100% convinced by DM, but anyone recommended by Walter Smith, definitely deserves a chance, and our backing, if he is to be our new manager.

06 Dec 2017 23:02:30
Ooochh I don't know. I think we should listen to some of the half whits on here rather than a club legend who won the odd trophy or two! . It beggers believe!

06 Dec 2017 23:57:41
Like it, dutch like it a lot

07 Dec 2017 01:41:40
I’ve got to add that last year when Walter was part of the commentary team after a match someone else mentioned that Mcinnis would be a good choice and when Walter was asked his opinion he said I’m not normally good at this kind of thing but yeah why not and if you watch it you’ll see by the body language and the way he said it he would have said the same if others were mentioned but that aside whoever gets the job has the right to be supported by the fans

07 Dec 2017 11:43:35
Not fair calling people who express a different opinion from you a "half whit"?!? Let's see if you come back on so sprightly when it all starts to go tits up! Nugget! Lol (hope it doesn't btw)

07 Dec 2017 13:25:02
You mean like Salary McCoist?

06 Dec 2017 21:14:49
Think about the players reaction to mcinnes. What the manager of the team we just pumped home and away? Why him? Oh he's Rangers through and through? what's he won? The first division and a cup. A manager needs to command respect imo mcinnes won't inspire any of our players. Not the right choice. I think we will be looking for a new manager this time next year! In saying that i will still follow on and support team 100%.

06 Dec 2017 22:24:38
He's done all he can with Aberdeen, a win ratio of 58% is the best they have had since Alex Ferguson. He will be good for us

07 Dec 2017 13:30:59
We use to pump hibs all the time when Eck was there manager and we had massive egos in the dressing room at that time but when he came to us they all still respected him

06 Dec 2017 20:10:51
Would hate to lose Murty if he got the job and then got the sack he’s a great guy to have behind the sceen to take the rains as cover think he love the club and reileses this

06 Dec 2017 20:58:17
Awkward for murty just after schooling the new manager twice you have to shift back to the yth team or sacked?

06 Dec 2017 19:50:19
ED can you do a poll please.

Derek McInnes or other.

I don't think McInnes is the man for the job only one trophy to his managerial career. yeah he's done what he could with a small budget at Aberdeen. But at the same time we have a budget small too. yeah King gave Pedro millions to spend, but do you think he will easily hand over more millions to McInnes or any manager in fact till they have proven they can at least close the gap by 10 points to Celtic come the end of the season.

But ED if you can do the poll that would be great.

{Ed033's Note -

McInnes or Other Poll

06 Dec 2017 23:17:09
Think your poll a bit unfair on DM as most people on this have been championing for other managers ie-GVB so think it’s a bit inside poll putting DM against others why not have it for the job or not

06 Dec 2017 19:12:43
Too many people on this board slating McInnes already, if Murty was offered the job and failed at the end of the season for 2nd spot how many so called fans would be calling for the board to resign as they made the wrong appointment remember Murty lost to Dundee and Hamilton but wins 2 in s row against one of our main rivals and all off a sudden he’s the man . I am fully behind him but I would prefer him to look after the development squad as he does have great coaching skills but if it all goes wrong with McInnes then we hav Murty to step in again, let’s get behind whoever the manager is.

06 Dec 2017 19:48:04
what if mcinness fails to get second, or is it a given

06 Dec 2017 20:01:22
So what you are saying Jny-boy is that Murty should nag around as the bridesmaid again waiting to see if the new man falls on his sword before he gets another chance? If I was him I'd be looking for a new job ASAP. He took over a team in total turmoil, he had to get those demotivated and demoralised players to trust him, he made changes to the playing system and moved players to different positions and the players bought into it.

Their confidence is beginning to return as has been shown in their recent performances, they are buying into Murty's tactics and upbeat philosophy and now we are about to bin all that to start again under a manager who has had an undistinguished ten year career in management. And you think Murty will just meekly crawl away back to kiddies' corner? I think he will see this appointment as a slap in the face as he is at least as capable as McInnes, probably more so.

06 Dec 2017 20:25:39
I would take back to back defeats if we won 2 against Aberdeen or celtic its our closest rivals. Murty has done well and deserves his chance to take the team forward

06 Dec 2017 23:19:30
RfcChris couple bad results and you’d be calling for Murray head he’s not experienced enough for the job great guy and will be a great manager in time but we’re to big a club for him to be starting out on it’s ok a few games as caretaker but not full time completely different and I think he would crack under the strain

07 Dec 2017 07:34:18
I think the ultimate test was back to back games against Aberdeen he won both games he changed the formation and played mcrorie in a new position. He instilled confidence in windas, bates, wilson, wee holt, pena even looked better. And let's not forget he took a point off celtic by setting the team up correctly. Pedro and mcinnes both get humped off celtic not murty. He speaks with class and is honest. He is a very good coach which is what we need since we have a director of football and a managing director taking care of everything else. If he just needs to train, motivate and pick the formation and team. It looks like we are set for mcinnes so as I have said before I will follow on but fear the worst.

07 Dec 2017 11:40:56
Murty knew McInnes was first choice and that move wold be made after the AGM and dons double header. He has done a great job considering and deserves all the accolade, however, he also knew he would be returning back to youth set up with reputation intact. I reckon he will be a manger one day and a very good one at that. Hopefully he continues to progress with structure at rangers.

06 dec 2017 18:28:12
dsgersfan,
murty has already said he does not want the job . and your point of every gers fan you have spoken to does not want dm, the poll on here is split. who do you want, remember we have limited funds?

06 Dec 2017 20:47:26
I recall him saying a while ago he didn't want it, but more recently he sounds like he would want it, like when asked if he was going to be manager he replied I haven't been asked.

06 Dec 2017 17:16:56
So it looks like we'll be getting McInnes for our next manager and i'm delighted about it. Liked him as a player in a team full of foreign international's. He's a top young Scottish manager and a gers man at that. Knows the league and has done pretty well at Aberdeen consistently. I backed Caixinha so McInnes has my full support. I know its all about opinions but this, he didn't win the league when we were in the doldrums is is a prooer poor imexcuse

06 Dec 2017 17:29:53
Bit distracted towards the end of that post lol. Carrying on from where i left off, just because he didn't win the league while we were in the doldrums is a poor excuse not to have him. Celtic were and are still a hell of a lot better than Aberdeen. Get Moult in and a couple of other to bolster the 1st team and i think we'll come good. Like one of the other lads said. Get Murty with the youths, he's good at what he does and we really need the boys coming through

06 Dec 2017 19:57:27
I wanted Mcinnes before Pedro but like many I would settle for Murty if it was a choice between the 2. I will still support him tho and agree that Murty should go back to the youth as the amount that are getting chances at the moment is down to the good job he has done.

06 Dec 2017 16:22:39
Flabigasted, gutted, and raging were going fur DM can believe the board aren't listening to the fans every single gers fan I've asked what they think of DM and not one has said they want him to get the job Muty till end of season they all agree it will go pear shaped nearly 1 mil to sign him and don't want no how much comp to ditch them a no it sounds negative but hel no last 6month.

06 Dec 2017 18:18:49
their was a poll recently on this site showed that about 50% of fans that voted want mcinnes, i’m delighted he’s been approached, think he was the standout candidate

07 Dec 2017 13:36:43
So you know who the other candidates were, if any, lum?

06 dec 2017 16:17:33
i think dm is the only manager that can come in at this stage, big eck no, why has no one came for him recently, because his time has come and gone, that's why. we have limited funds and managers that are available in englands top flight are few and far between, they would want substantial wages and a decent transfer budget. we have tried championship& european managers before and look where that got us . so for now let's get dm in as soon as possible. he has proven himself with a limited budget. and we have limited funds. he has what it takes in this league, a bit of stability can go a long way.

06 Dec 2017 18:21:42
agreed but with us he will have substantially more to spend than he would have had at aberdeen, and he’ll have better players so think he’ll take us to a higher level than his aberdeen side and will challenge celtic

06 Dec 2017 20:02:59
lum, how do you even know he has the knowledge and judgement to spend that money wisely? He had some money at Bristol and, according to their fans, bought rubbish.

06 Dec 2017 16:04:05
Don't see the issue with the Derek Mcinnes assistant situation.! Think some people are forgetting a certain Kenny McDowall he was the highest sought after coach in Scottish football at one point and we recruited him from the other side of the city, the man later went on to manage our club in the same capacity as Murty, think before we speak please, if the man comes to the club and does a job. great, we all succedd together, probably the same people who sing about jock stein who have an issue with the man or his religion, everyone forgets there greatest manager was. "one of us" get your head out the sand people and support your team, forget race religion and alliances, if it works and it's successful. Let's do it!

06 Dec 2017 17:12:22
Kenny is a bluenose through and through

06 Dec 2017 17:39:09
this didn’t stop Celtic hiring him, or even better. him working for them and developing talent to beat the team he supports “through and through” what I’m saying is regardless of who u support. If it works and it’s successful then great, that should be the reasons behind us recruiting a new management team, not who the guy supports

06 Dec 2017 17:57:20
It is time we got our collective heads out of 1690! The only thing that matters is the talent of the individual.

06 Dec 2017 18:45:23
I was only stating a fact. Kenny McDowell is a bluenose 'through and through". Make of it what you will lol

06 Dec 2017 10:14:15
Any chance Thanks oll Ed? Who would Rangers fans prefer to be in charge on 30 Dec for Old Firm game?
A- Murty
B- McInnes
C- Other
Thanks

06 Dec 2017 13:02:12
Doom and Gloom? You better believe it. If DM gets the job, any hope of stopping 10 will be gone. The guy is a failure on the big occasions and always has been.
Finishing 2nd in a 12 team league when on each of those occasions 2 of the top 6 teams were not there is not an achievement.

We are going to pay about £1 million compo for him and sidekick, give a 3+ yr contract (D King says) so possibly a combined wage of £1m per yr.
We will be stuck with him as unable to pay off when it goes tits up. again.

I am not keen on Murty as manager but Here is a thought, Getting Moult and A. N. Other in January with the Comp money and Murty to end of season, we would be a far better team come end of season and in better position to get a decent manager.

Been season ticket holder since Souness arrived, but this could be the last.
Really really unimpressed with my lifelong club.

06 Dec 2017 13:20:47
totaly agree with you. complete lack of ambition by a useless board. If murty had been given the chance to bring 3 players in he could secure 2nd spot easily enough. but anyway the board just want to be 2nd and are happy at that.

06 Dec 2017 13:23:35
What a load of barry white, slimjim.

06 Dec 2017 14:12:55
@coldo, You tell me what part you think is BW?

Saying all of it will be a cop out as just about all i say is fact or pretty much assured.

So tell me.

06 Dec 2017 14:25:18
Coldo why is slim Jim talking a load of Barry White, it is his opinion and after all it is a banter page, I agree with what slim Jim is saying regarding DM, what has he proved and especially on the big occasion, backtrack his managerial career at Aberdeen and what to you see,4 seasons we were not there he got hee haw even when celtic had a dud as a manager, you and other believe DM will be our saviour, look around you man, why do you think celtic went south for a manager, I will tell you why because they saw nothing up here, and why not use the comp money for players, it makes complete sense, I'm not doom and gloom however we will see how many DM lovers come on here when it goes pear shaped, the board need a really big name, if you think that DM is that man well that's fine but he is not in the mould of Smith, Souness, advocat, and a few others. ok he snubbed Sunderland, but why,? Was he waiting on the Gers job or was he bottling it to go down the road, or did he genuinely want to stay at Aberdeen, his set ups against celtic have been questionable, why do you think he will be any different at us, DM is moulded into a certain type of manager and he is not for Rangers. And you can all take a pop but as I said it's a banter page and I'm only stating my opinion and agreeing with slim Jim.

06 Dec 2017 15:30:01
For me the board a going for McInnis because he knows the league and will get us closer to Celtic and who
No's with a bigger budget available to him we mite even be able to stop them winning league and cups we need stability and he can provide it
All the other names are unproven in the league with the exemption of McLeish but he spent a fortune last time

06 Dec 2017 19:54:11
The lot of it @slimjim. Even the part where you say that all you say is fact, when clearly its all shoite. Hope that helps👍, oh and just to put you right, two top six teams can't be classed as top six teams when those two teams were playing in the championship lol, what a daft thing to say.

07 Dec 2017 10:01:55
Sorry to rain on your big parade, but little of your post was fact.

Doom and Gloom? You better believe it. Opinion, not fact.

If DM gets the job, any hope of stopping 10 will be gone. Opinion, not fact.

The guy is a failure on the big occasions and always has been. Might give you that one as a fact.

Finishing 2nd in a 12 team league when on each of those occasions 2 of the top 6 teams were not there is not an achievement. Opinion, not fact.

We are going to pay about £1 million compo for him and sidekick, give a 3+ yr contract (D King says) so possibly a combined wage of £1m per yr. Speculation, not fact.

We will be stuck with him as unable to pay off when it goes tits up. again. Going tit up is opinion not fact. Being stuck with him is a fact.

I am not keen on Murty as manager but Here is a thought, Getting Moult and A. N. Other in January with the Comp money and Murty to end of season, we would be a far better team come end of season and in better position to get a decent manager. Speculation, not fact

Been season ticket holder since Souness arrived, but this could be the last. Speculation, not fact as you say 'could' rather than 'will'.

Really really unimpressed with my lifelong club. Fact.

06 Dec 2017 12:47:15
So if mcinnes comes in do we think he will target any of their players!? McLean logan Reynolds!? Not too long ago I'd have taken greame shinnie in a heartbeat but can u imagine the bookings tally between him and Jack! Personally I'd leave them with the sheep, thoughts?

06 Dec 2017 13:08:42
IMO none of them are any better than what we have maybe McLean but no to the rest.

06 Dec 2017 13:13:01
I'd take shinnie. He would add more steel to the team

06 Dec 2017 11:00:29
mcinnes will be installed by Friday. This has all been set up weeks ago.

06 Dec 2017 12:20:43
So you're admitting he knew he was leaving before the double header? Not very ethical is it?

06 Dec 2017 11:31:30
Dear Santa King,
I've been a good fan this year and don't have a want list at all. However I do have a not list. Right at the top is Mr Mcinnes! Please can I ask you to give him to some other club or even leave him up north. Mr Murty would be a cracker of a manager till next season and the 800k we save might even let him buy a player in the sales.
Yours in hope
Rangers fan.

06 Dec 2017 11:44:52
Moult from Motherwell springs to mind with that cash

06 Dec 2017 12:49:03
Or we could get both?

06 Dec 2017 13:14:55
You no a bit old for santa?

06 Dec 2017 10:27:04
December will be a huge month for Rangers. We have six games:
Ross County (h)
Hibs (a)
St Johnstone (h)
Kilmarnock (a)
Motherwell (h)
Celtic (a)

The manky mob play Hibs and Hearts away and Aberdeen at home plus a potentially trick away game at Dundee.

A full house would put daylight between Aberdeen and Hibs and who knows, might just topple Septic from the top. We must get our new manager in NOW!

06 Dec 2017 10:47:39
Great post doiger needty be positive going into this period whoever the manager is that comes in will know fine well the old firm game will be crucial and could give the manager much needed backing from the doubters (as there’s always doubters ) and give the team and support a much needed lift and confidence!

06 Dec 2017 10:53:39
Doiger, the world loves an optimist :-)
But I'll go for that scenario, would certainly make it very tasty going in to new year.

06 Dec 2017 10:55:58
Dont start looking 8 games ahead when we’ve not win 3 on the trot since last christmas. people said the same a few wks ago how easy a run we had then we draw with killie and get beat off hamilton and dundee

06 Dec 2017 08:58:33
Not a fan of DM what's has he done has never beat the manky mop. Its big Eck and Ferguson and Rae as assistants for me they no how too win and stop the them Eck all the way and save £1m put towards transfer budget.

06 Dec 2017 09:38:02
Any manager we get will be a huge risk because if this doesn't work this time the financial side of it could be seriously damaging to us again, personally I would support whoever gets the job but to be honest to pay the likes of Aberdeen £1million compensation for their manager is a complete joke, we are getting held to ransom at that price

06 Dec 2017 10:56:53
Good shout big neil

06 Dec 2017 12:10:49
1M won’t be paid this is Aberdeen trying to save face with there fans. They feel like they have been shafted and this is merely delaying tactics.

06 Dec 2017 13:01:56
If I could hit agree ten times I would!

06 Dec 2017 13:09:31
What do you mean he has never beat them? Of course he has. Did you just make that fact up?

06 Dec 2017 08:57:05
If as is being reported Rangers have met the compensation fee to allow Us to speak to DM and the sheep board refuse and reject it are they in breach of contract with their employee ie DM who can then resign with no compensation being required. Contracts and their conditions work both ways.

06 Dec 2017 10:29:00
Read elsewhere that Aberdeen eant compensation up front but that's not what's being offered. No idea if that's true, or if/ how it affects the release clause in McInnes contract.

06 Dec 2017 10:37:22
if we have offered instalments in means any buy out clause isn't applicable. other wise we could offer 800k at tenner a week 😂

06 Dec 2017 11:31:03
Maybe the board could tell us the facts. Not too much to ask for.

06 Dec 2017 13:02:44
They can't refuse if we meet the buy out clause.

06 Dec 2017 06:41:41
I don't care who you are or what club your at at the time if you are like thousands of us and a dyed in the wool teddy bear you would run through brick walls to play or manage your club.

06 Dec 2017 06:39:41
I am worried now that the club have made an approach for Mcinnes if he does end up at rangers is he going to get rid of Murty? As I think at present Murty is one of the best assets our club has and I would hate to see him pushed out the door if McInnes does eventually or anyone else for that matter come in. That's twice Murty has taken the reins and steadied this ship when things at our club seem to be all over the place. In a way I would actually like Murty to get the job as he has showed he is capable and he seems to have grown a deep love for the club in his time here and I also don't want to have to pay the sheep a penny and McInnes comments lately haven't exactly be glowing about our club.

06 Dec 2017 07:29:35
Here here Tommy, 👏🏽

06 Dec 2017 08:27:10
Spot on assessment Tommy. Agree 100%

06 Dec 2017 13:00:24
Hope the fans let the board know at next game that the fans want Murty to stay and be part of the 1st team set up. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing Murty given till the end of the season to see how he does

Why would he get rid of murty? that's just daft to suggest that.

Hows about taking on the biggest job you're likely to get and not keep a guy in your setup that's proved twice that he's a better tactician and manager of pressure games.
I, We don't want McInnes!
McLeish is the man we need with his experience of different leagues, the club and our history, his previous in charge and the fact that he may bring back Ferguson and Rae to the background team while giving Murty the No.2 tag to give him some further experience before he succeeds him in time.
If we don't get him the sheep will and i think that's another top manager in business working against us.

I've heard that Stewart Milne isn't happy about the way rangers have handled the situation, the situation as I see it is that rangers have approached Aberdeen for permission to speak to Mcinnes yesterday which has been rejected. its the media that has been shouting that Mcinnes is the favourite for the job for weeks, not once have a heard or seen a rangers statement saying we want Mcinnes until yesterday's approach, am I missing something? what have we actually done wrong?

I see Pedro was announced Manager of Cruz Azul in Mexico yesterday, maybe this has contributed to the delay while the financial side of his settlement were sorted out? He could potentially have been on gardening leave for the rest of his contract should we not have paid him up. Either way I have no issue with the board taking their time to make sure they get the appointment correct. I do find it strange however that after all this time they have come up with McInnes as the answer! Very much a fingers crossed appointment for me 🤞🏼

Didn't dave king say weeks ago that the compensation package for ped was sorted, yet you still feel the need to suggest that it wasn't. Every appointment will be fingers crossed unless we get a top top manager with plenty of cash to spend. DM is the best appointment out there for us and is the better option of all the names that were thrown about.
