06 Jan 2018 19:28:21
First time post. sports journalist say it is Brighton who moved goal posts in Murphy transfer. but not said what it is. any info anybody.

06 Jan 2018 20:00:53
They don’t trust us and what payment up front so instead he will sign on loan until summer then we will buy, it’s all embarrassing again!

06 Jan 2018 23:19:44
Jim White saying deal done, undisclosed fee, no seeing it anywhere else though!

06 Jan 2018 23:36:08
Brighton want 2 million for Murphy now that's the sticking point.

07 Jan 2018 00:12:30
Jim’s a man in the know so I believe him - let’s hope he’s a good signing - all the hype about dorrans in summer and hasn’t exactly lived up to it! Hopefully he gets back and proves me wrong - good luck to Murphy 🔴⚪️🔵

07 Jan 2018 02:16:43
It’s a loan deal till end of season and buy thereafter.

07 Jan 2018 09:54:54
The reason for the loan deal is that the board don't have the money the way Brighton want it so have secured the loan deal n MUST pay in full end of season so there's 2 million right away embarrassing

07 Jan 2018 17:22:07
A heard celtic contacted them and told them if they sell him to us. they won't allow dembele to go there has anyone else heard this

07 Jan 2018 21:12:53
Jim whites tweeting that jamie murphy is a done deal.

06 Jan 2018 19:00:15
1 agree Trev, heard something flagged up in medical to do with knee, don't think it was anything serious, loan move right way to go.

06 Jan 2018 21:29:07
Jamie murphy passed his 2 stage medical, so there's no knee problem! Its plain and simple and was down to the way the transfer money was to be paid to brighton! we will find out in due course whether brighton moved the goalposts or not, or whether its another embarrassing episode for our directors! The main thing for me now, is we at least secure the loan signing of jamie murphy, 'till the end of the season and take it from there! Hopefully then we sign him permanently! I would at least rather have murphy on loan, as opposed to not having him at all! He's a terrific player in my eyes! I've always wanted us to sign him, way back to his motherwell playing days!

06 Jan 2018 23:08:36
All blah. Signed 3 1/ 2 deal at ten announced by Jim white on sky

06 Jan 2018 23:51:27
I don't see anything embarrassing in this if we can safe money through loaning then sign him in the summer then that is good. Watching Barcelona and the likes spending £100m on players just shows how far the footballing world has split up teams like us with a world wide fan base cannot compete with teams like Brighton and Stoke who'd be lucky to find a fan more than 20 miles from their ground, yet some on here think we should chuck money around we don't have.

It isn't just clubs like us i remember reading a couple of years ago that since the end of the second World War ajax had spent £250m on players now there are teams that don't have their history like psg spending near that on one player and plenty more spending more than that in a single transfer window.

The governing bodies won't step in as they have been proved to be corrupt. The champions league should be the biggest pay day not the premiership and then the europa league as it doesn't have the same draw if teams earn more domestically. This should be written in the rules. So it may have come to the fact we can't pay in full well we don't have the resources that make this behaviour sustainable.

My biggest gripe is the lack of realism in where this spending effects day to day people and there lives. In 2008 the £12bn debt of the premiership was 10% of the national debt. Businesses closed, banks crashed, lending to businesses and individuals stopped, houses stopped being built, people ending up jobless, homeless and going to food banks, some it would have been to much and lives would have been lost yet still footballers wages and fees went up to crazy levels.

Why now that after 140+ years of association football does it get like this, well its agents coupled with the ever growing me culture where people want to be famous and think they deserve and when it gets like this laws are needed before it all collapses it won't be just clubs, it will be leagues and entire economy's of countries just so people can lose all grip on reality.

If the premiership crumbled do you think that it would be just England that would feel it, I'm pretty sure none of us would see a pay rise in our life time again. Smaller nations need to act and get changes made, financial fair play rules came I'm to stop clubs unfairly topping themselves up to gain advantage yet when clubs have a small fan base pretty much the majority of their fans go to their stadium yet their TV deal means that for one season they get more than bigger clubs in fact they get paid more in one season than entire leagues get for the five year contract for their TV deal then to me and all outside those wee clubs with big deals it is that, that is breaking financial fair play. So instead of saying our board is an embarrassment it is the ruling bodies that are a disgrace and it has killed football over a 20year period

07 Jan 2018 04:03:08
Well said mate

07 Jan 2018 10:29:33
Would we pass the financial fair play rules? . We don't live within our mean Gary, so your being hypocritical. We used the bank money during the 90 and 00 and loved ever minute of it. So let's look in the mirror first before firing bullets.

07 Jan 2018 11:39:46
I feel that with a balance in distribution then the money we spend would be covered within revised tv and revenue deals. I also believe that during our days of big spending we should have expanded the stadium when we were on top and we had greater demand this instead of wasting money would have made us more self sufficient also if at this time all the clubs part sponsored our league this would have made investors more likely to invest as we were creating confidence in our own product a bit like going for a mortgage when you have already been able to save up half the money yourself.

07 Jan 2018 12:42:14
He was asking you a question you tried to swerve with the above waffle. Not in your ideal scenario nicely written but as opposed to now.

06 Jan 2018 18:40:28
it seems who ever was finacing our club has now decided to no longer finance it witch is a worry.
It seems mr king now has to spend some of the money he has promised and it is not forthcoming from him as of yet when it is his own cash.
Does seem the truth is now coming out why we ended up with murty till the end of the season.

06 Jan 2018 20:32:19
Won’t the financial fair play dictate how much we are able to spend?

06 Jan 2018 20:33:02
Craig8688, what makes you think King has any money?

06 Jan 2018 20:34:25
Yep I've heard the same on Thursday. The rest of board want king out so Alistair Johnstone can take over . It's Johnstone and new board member Barry Scott who have someone waiting with new finacial backing we keep hearing about. If any money to be spent whilst king in charge it will need to come from new oasis so king needs to pay up or stand aside.

06 Jan 2018 20:38:43
Murty will do ok. No experienced manager will take the job until he knows finances are available to bring in players. Rangers don't have the funds so Murty is the best option. Along with JN that will work.

As for Murphy deal its nothing to do with a knee problem its about money up front. Rangers will get him on a loan but Brighton won't pay any contribution. I believe he is offered £20k a week but may not be correct. He should be at Rangers as Brighton want him off the wage bill but if they can sell him to another party they will sell him.

06 Jan 2018 22:10:24
Goalie i think king doesn't have any money and this why there is conflict between directors as he has lied to them just like the fans

08 Jan 2018 00:29:38
Craig your all doom and gloom always negative from you

08 Jan 2018 00:26:35
Spot on Craig8688. It wouldn't surprise me if King is trying to wangle a way out. We all know he's going to appeal the decision to buy the shares, if he looses that then he's going to have to shell up or ship out. Where is his childrens inheritance money that he freely boasted about before coming on board. Yes he steadied the ship and all that but its his continual lies that are frustrating. I personally think he will move on.

06 jan 2018 18:25:23
shocking if true

06 Jan 2018 18:21:33
Someone must be feeding the press ECT ECT as everybody has been saying it was a 3 year deal now we haven't got the money if this is true it's embarrassing. kiss goodbye too any more signings

06 Jan 2018 18:30:01
It's either that or just the mhankies constantly posting about Rangers on twitter about us having no money and some of our fans are going into panic stations and believing it. Il wait until the official confirmation comes out 👍🏼

06 Jan 2018 20:31:23
Bear Mode get real. Club is skint. Fact.

07 Jan 2018 13:32:29
could it be that with pena only going on loan and we are still paying half his wages it makes sense to have murphy on loan until then also

06 Jan 2018 18:11:04
If this is the case it's down too money we can kiss goodbye too any more signings even if we can pull this off

06 Jan 2018 20:36:28
This is the reason we are requesting our loan players back. We are skint. We have no money to buy players and i bet it was the lack of money that convinced McInnis to stay put.

07 Jan 2018 13:34:20
then mcinnes doesn't see the long term future then. if we didn't sign anyone the imo we r still stronger than aberdeen

07 Jan 2018 21:19:54
He would have still got more to play with than at aberdeen

06 Jan 2018 18:04:54
What are people's thoughts on Mark Hughes for manager if what looks like happening will be him losing his job. Even if at end of the season.

06 Jan 2018 18:19:56
Absolutely not mate, Hughes is a roaster who buys buys buys until he gets the sack. He's spent millions on strikers at stoke and decided this season Peter Crouch is still the best he has. 😂

06 Jan 2018 20:35:28
Do we just want any manager that becomes available now

07 Jan 2018 09:07:30
FFS give our current manager a chance!

06 Jan 2018 17:29:02
Must be some paperwork there doing OVER Murphy?

06 Jan 2018 17:45:04
Just caught a bit on Clyde we are struggling to come up with the cash and are looking at a loan till end of season if this is true it's worrying

06 Jan 2018 13:40:55
What are thoughts on loanee's coming back bears? Is it a good idea or should we be trying to offload the likes of Halliday and o'halloran, personally with MOH I think he is a decent player but something just seems of about him at the Gers for whatever reason and can't be bothered watching him burst down the wing to hit the first defender with his cross and think candeias is far better, maybe Halliday could be cover, dodoo too if played in his natural position but would we be better getting the bread man player off the wage bill?

06 Jan 2018 14:02:19
I'd bare with the pair of them but i don't see MOH as a winger i see him more as a "let him roam" kind of player, never an out and out winger

06 Jan 2018 14:33:20
SG34, I agree with you above and below. Mcrorie back to centre back eventually and Ohalloran as a centre fwdish type of player, he has a finish and can dribble, he's never a winger. For the rest of the season and 2018/ 2019 we can't afford to have luxury players and all 11 on the pitch must contribute and work hard for 90 minutes, hopefully Ohalloran can be part of that, if not, cheerio - two bites of the cherry is enough for anyone.

06 Jan 2018 15:02:31
Will make our bench stronger than what it has been. Don’t see either starting but if they get do get into side then it’s upto them to prove they can handle an XI jersey.

06 Jan 2018 20:19:08
I think Halliday will take this chance with both hands, and will be out to prove he can do a good job for us. I agree that MOH is not a winger but being played direct his pace can cause teams problems, I'm sure he will want to show what he can do as well .

06 Jan 2018 20:25:32
Like u said TJBB i'm not sure we can afford the luxury of letting a player roam especially in “big” games were we need to be disciplined but those shady games at home V the Hamiltons and Particks i think MOH would be usefull

06 Jan 2018 20:23:37
I remember when OHalloran was available to buy from St Johnstone 99% of all us Gers Fans where dying to get him signed up asap, yes we wanted him so for once Warburton or Board can't be blamed there, I believe like many if we take him off the wing and play him like a number 10 or a bit of a free role with his pace we would all see a much improved player and the player we were, all crying out for just this time a year ago.

06 Jan 2018 13:33:29
@Fraser82. Dalcio was pictured at the airport mate, think its only a matter of time b4 he gets shipped back to benfica though. Also its already been reported that herrera will meet up with the squad in a few days after being allowed a trip back to mexico.

06 Jan 2018 13:09:00
Starting too think there's more about holed up with Murphy move . don't believe it's just paperwork? Money up front?

06 Jan 2018 18:21:37
Rumours are that we don't have the money to pay up front so are now looking at loan deal til end of the season. As if we weren't a big enough laughing stock.

06 Jan 2018 20:24:56
The Hold up is Brighton want £1.4 million for him, whereas We only want to pay £1 million for Murphy up front and pay the other £400,000. after so Many appearances personally i just don't think this stupid board have all the money till they sell) i still think the deal will be done but If not and its a case of yet another one gets, away AGAIN, i won't be renewing my season ticket and no more cup games home or away this season or next until this penny pinching, losing out on good Rangers men players stops, just look, at Moult £400,000 and now Walker £300,000, Just to name a couple, at lost out on them why? Over what should be peanuts to a massive club like ours, no wonder the manky mob and others are laughing at us!

06 Jan 2018 12:49:03
You know there's fake news and sh&te news. Daily Mince stated online at 0840 Murphy deal still on and no matter what he would be travelling, then about an hour later the deal is in doubt using the same reasoning as at 0840. Forgot how crap their journos are,

06 Jan 2018 12:29:22
Morning all,
All these "new" faces is giving me a headache. Its the old cliche, how the heck is the manager going to pick his 1st eleven and keep all happy. Heres mine for the players we have or almost have and all 100% fit
Fod
Tav Mcrorie Wilson John
Candias Jack Dorrans Murphy
Morelos Ohalloran

Well balanced, potent and powerful. Our second 11 ain't that bad either.

Alnwick
Hodson Cardoso Bruno Wallace
Barjonas Holt Goss Haliday
Windass Herrera.

Obviously everybody will have there own opinions of players and formations etc

Ive not included Rotissor, Miller, Kranjar, Doddoo but if fit any of them could come in also.

I would however like us to sign a 6'4'+ monster front man that can hold the ball up and head, not necessary anything else (that would cost serious money) to give that option of a target man when all else fails. Peter Crouch on a Scottish diet for a month might fit the bill.

Im sure some will come and go shortly but will be replaced with an upgrade. So it shows we have a decent squad with good depth. If we really strengthen in Summer18 we should be able to compete at the top. Aberdeen on there day could be good but there strength and depth will now be way behind us. Celtic will always be a challenge but if we are consistent then we have a chance.

Whats your 1st eleven?

06 Jan 2018 12:57:46
My first 11 would be 4-2-3-1 I'm adding a couple of players we should sign also then il do another with the probable team lol
Fod
Tav bates Wilson Wallace
Jack mccrorie
Windass dorrans Murphy
Alfredo

Fod
Tav Martin Wilson Wallace
Mccrorie jack
Candias dorrans. Windass
Murphy

Hard to remember all players just gave it a go lol

06 Jan 2018 14:03:23
I think once everyone is fit, Mcrorie will become a CB again with Wilson.

06 Jan 2018 18:22:49
I'd rather play Windass ahead of O'halloran mate. He's only back cause we made him, come the summer he'll be itching to get away again

06 Jan 2018 20:21:56
Why would you put mccrorie back to cb? He is excelled where he is. Give bates a chance to excell with wilson as bates has proved he is more than capable of making the cb position his own. It would be foolish to move mccrorie.

07 Jan 2018 21:13:03
Hey Coldo. Mcrorie is a talented player which is why he is getting by at Centre defensive midfield. But long term IMO we need a Pirlo, Carrick, Ferguson, Souness, Keane, Brown (i Know fingers burning typing it! ) type. Somebody that can go box to box, full range of passing, control the tempo of the game and scare the opposition.

In 5 to 8 years time he might be that player but right now, not sure. We might find ourselves in the Europa cup/ league against very experienced pros in 5 months. We need a midfield general. But don't get me wrong I love Mcororie and he is part of our future, a majestic CB that can carry the ball. We might find Ryan Jack, Goss or Rositer? are these players for now in that CDM position but they have to step up. Its all good, rather debate where to put our good players rather than any negative angles. Good stuff Cold. let's hope were arguing he should be striker next year.

PS. When Mcoroie is say 25 and has been a total success where ever he plays and Man Utd come in for 50 million would you want home to go, would you go.

Rangers TRUE LEGEND on average money V Man U PLAYER on multi millions. Heart v Brain.

Ed what would we do, if you have a chance, a poll would be interesting.

06 Jan 2018 10:25:08
Don't worry murphy will be with the squad supposedly brightons holding things up with paperwork he will be there,

06 Jan 2018 10:34:54
Seems strange he is not travelling to Florida . Not looking good .

06 Jan 2018 10:47:43
IF it was just paperwork he would be on the plane

06 Jan 2018 11:26:35
I take from a guy that i know doesn't just spout crap all the time and is pretty much bang on all the time, maybe he didn't fancy the snow
He will be there

06 Jan 2018 13:53:41
Brighton website saying deal done, so who is really holding the deal up, our incompetent board or DOF

06 Jan 2018 13:55:14
Story going around that there is an issue with his medical.

06 Jan 2018 13:57:51
Well if you call trying to bump the selling club "paperwork" then that's exactly what it is. You simply can't afford the initial first down payment, which is usually 33%. Depending on what your paying in the real world and not level5 world that amount varies hugely. I expect you'll sign him, but as per usual, the club are being very shady and unprofessional, a club ran by charlatans.

06 Jan 2018 17:04:12
How would you know bampot?
OBSESSED!

06 Jan 2018 17:28:12
Bhampot

I take it that all parties in the deal have let you know what is going on then? Amazing how so many Celtic fans seem to be experts in just about everything to do with Rangers

06 Jan 2018 20:20:22
desrfc paperwork is actually vital, you just cannot take a player who is still registered with another club away with you.

06 Jan 2018 20:21:25
PB1 no it's not, and he's still a registered Brighton player.

06 Jan 2018 20:28:16
Cheers for the inside info Bham👍Much appreciated

06 Jan 2018 10:19:39
Jamie murphy has NOT travelled to florida as there is an 11th hour problem according to the s*n.

06 Jan 2018 10:52:55
Its paperwork at their end, nothing more just a few bit and bobs, from a trusted usually 100% accurate person, not a guy who knows a dog that spoke to another dogs mrs that knows someone

06 Jan 2018 11:50:55
StmonkeyRFC, I would really like to believe you but I fear the worst here. Murty wanted the transfers done early and yet again like they did in the summer our board seem to drag these things on and on. If I was a betting man I'd put money on the Murphy deal being off.

06 Jan 2018 12:15:45
If the paperworks not ready he won't travel. When it is he will then travel on. Stop 2nd guessing and wait for confirmation from the club.

06 Jan 2018 18:24:17
Rumour is that we don't have the money to pay upfront so are now looking at a loan deal til the end of the season - now that I can believe as that's our standard now. As if we weren't a big enough laughing stock.

06 Jan 2018 20:25:08
Thats the problem Windy, the Club won't come out and tell us anything! as per frigging usual now No Walker for £300,000 cause we tried to put all our eggs in one basket with Murphy and is looking like we have lost out yet AGAIN.

06 Jan 2018 09:44:39
I see the board of Cruz Azul are saying the loan deal of penna is a very beneficial one to them. no hit. they have taken the piss by getting a loan deal and our board have buckled yet again by paying half wages. if he is such a big player for Pedro and of benifit to there team BUY him like Pedro did for us. if only we used the loan option on him instead we could ship him off without losing over 500k for nothing in negative wages and pay another player that.

06 Jan 2018 09:55:30
The board have done well to get any deal. 26,000 a week he on. It’s not ideal that we are still paying 13,000 of that but who on earth was going to take him off our hands at full price. We have reverted to damage limitation and I can only hope that the board have learned from this massive mistake.

06 Jan 2018 10:23:27
Name one other midfielder we have that has scored more goals than Pena per game ratio? Name me one more midfielder that has set up more chances than Pena per game ratio? None is your answer. You all want rid of Pena when he is our best attacking midfielder. Pena is not technically gifted on the ball but finds space to create a chance or score a goal. Don’t understand people wanting rid of him, if it wasn’t for Pena we would be 8 or more points behind Aberdeen. Guy is had a handful of stsrts and 10-15 mins sub appearances. He is a more than a mediocre player in a mediocre team.

06 Jan 2018 11:20:44
People1872. So you tell us how many chances he has set up? How many assists does he have? I woukd find it hard to believe he has set up more chances than Candeias or Tav or had more assists than them. But if you have the actual numbers then I will stand corrected.

06 Jan 2018 14:04:19
Penas rotten and hopefully by next Jan, he's away for good. i don't care that he's got 5 in 8 games, he's a man down when he plays.

06 Jan 2018 15:04:02
Parky, tav is right back not a midfielder. Stats came out after the Aberdeen game away and someone posted them on here back in December. Pena set up every chance we had up in Aberdeen from “Open play” I’m not saying Pena is the answer, I’m just stating that other midfielders should be shown the door before him. Just cause Jason holt can run 12k during a game doesn’t make him a player. Our week link is our midfield.

06 Jan 2018 17:31:09
Pena has been poor to say the least and has looked unfit and uninterested. It’s clear he doesn’t fancy the country and is very much willing to go back to Mexico. He wants out the club want him out and I don’t think most of the fans are too unhappy he might be going.

06 Jan 2018 03:59:33
Don't know why a lot of your fans are complaining about "small" signings. busting the bank got you in trouble the last time. that's the first of match I've watched in a long time where i thought rangers were going to win. Looked hungrier and some of your players actually stepped up a gear. I actually don't think you are that far off a competitive team but your impatience shoots you in the foot each time. As I've said in here before Celtic need a Strong rangers. international interest brings in the money. And by our woeful display in europe we are not getting challenged enough at home apart from the odd freak result ie hearts. Buy low sell high. its the only way any Scottish team will survive. anyway good luck to all fans in 2018 regardless of there team. Without rivalry football is nothing

06 Jan 2018 07:28:25
Agree with most of this post but not sure the majority of our fans are impatient. We know where we are and accept it for the meantime. We're not asking the board to bust the bank with big money signings and in particular we don't want anymore over the hill players signed for crazy money because there from a Portugal or Mexico.

06 Jan 2018 10:31:54
Since the mad hatter was in charge, we have probably signed about 40 players (including loans) .

I do think we are on the right track, but we need to be in a position where we have a settled squad that we can add a couple of quality players to each year. Rather than diluting the quality by bringing in so many new faces at a time.

At the moment I think we need a few physical guys that can still play, who are based in the UK preferably with Scottish experience. - guys who will bust a nut for us, not get bullied by teams like Motherwell and can cope with the frantic nature of our game.

Once we have an established competitive team then we can add to that and spend a good bit each year on a player or two who will take us to the next level, who we could sell on for a good profit.

Eg a youngish midfield maestro or goal machine

06 Jan 2018 13:59:53
Good post Bribhoy, i agree we are inpatient. in a 1 off game i don't think we’re to far away from yous but yous are so consistent which we arent. we had a good 45mins against yous but that's all it was and we’ve still got abit to go.

06 Jan 2018 03:34:45
I'm sorry but come on Gregg Docherty Hamilton Jordan jones Kilmarnock sean longstaff Newcastle on loan at Blackpool and some guy from fleetwood town then a player who can't get a game at qpr and yet some people seem to be happy about this wtf? oh and let's Get rid of bruno Alves and replace him with the centre back from Dundee who we are also interested in yeah? What a joke we are if this is the players we are going for god help us.

06 Jan 2018 06:20:47
A rate Jordan jones wouldn't mind us signing him. but guy fae qpr who hisny kicked a ball on loan. disny make sense when we have guys like barjonas and Jordan Thompson capable. guys like russel martin and players from fleetwood getn heavily linked doesn't excite me. probably aren't even murtys targets.

06 Jan 2018 08:02:29
Yes if we can't buy young goss why have we got him, I understand we need a squad of locals but we need some class for European games.

06 Jan 2018 08:47:56
Jamie hardy came from Fleetwood town and now look at him

06 Jan 2018 09:01:04
A wee question for Deanobear here! Are you telling me that greg docherty, jordan jones and sean goss have no chance of going on to be really good players mate? It doesn't matter where these players are originally starting off playing, its about how further they develop and where they can possibly end up playing! How do you or any of us for that matter know, what level the likes of jordan jones and greg docherty can eventually reach in their careers! Remember there good young talent in our country my friend! Remember the hamilton accies lads of yesteryears, james mcarthur and james mccarthy etc! I personally would hope we do sign greg docherty and jordan jones, as that's the way our football club has to run now! Its all about spotting talent, developing the talent further and then selling them on, for decent transfer fees and so on!

06 Jan 2018 09:45:15
Exactly 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I see Jordan Thompson has been loaned to Livingston for the second half of the season. With his contract up in the summer do you think he'll be off? Heard a few decent things about the boy but obviously not anywhere near the first team.

Murty won't give Thompson or Hardie a sniff of the first team so he obviously thinks they are not good enough, on mark Allen I hope we are not getting anymore Aaron nemanes as hibs got barker we got nemane how much pull and how much does he know
