Apparently halliday has shone in training, could he be our next signing? Would tick the box for attacking midfielder.

Does anyone know how much has been spent so far on players and what the budget is?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

06 Jul 2015 16:54:16
Not much and the budget is apparently unlimited.

On transfers only £200k , quite disappointing tbh hoping king is true to his word and not full of bluster!

Amy1scott2, have you thought that maybe warburton isn't spending money? And that king has offered the cash?

It can't b unlimited. Does anyone know the figure? Need to be clear on that surly that isn't asking to much Mr King.

Why should Mr King be clear on the actual budget figure? All that does is alert clubs to how much we are willing to spend on players and then they bump up the price of any player! If Mr King comes out and says "we are willing to spend £3million on players" - a club wanting £500k for a player will suddenly be looking for £1million - think you might find we've been stung like that several times in the past - Tore Andre Flo ring any bells - in fact he's probably a better bell ringer than goal scorer!

EKBear you're right, so you will agree it was s#upid of Mr King to say publicly that the war chest available is "unlimited" and will be "whatever it takes" to win automatic promotion. Surely that puts Warburton in a weak bargaining position, for the exact same reason you outline in your post?

Noddy, King himself stated publicly that the money available to the new manager is "unlimited". An astonishing pile of horsecr#p but that's what he said.

Tbf it was also stated that we would not be signing Messi etc at the same press conference Pauline as we need to be realistic about signings too lol. The way I took 'unlimited' was that it meant there was no set budget (say 5 or£10m) with which to work with but if w+w went to the board chasing a realistic target that required a decent fee they would try to accommodate it if the feeling was it would improve the squad and justify the fee. I'm comfortable with that approach tbh if that is the case, way too much is made of single line statements within general replies which are mainly taken out of context and ran with as fact imo. No actual budget figure for transfers was mentioned as far as I'm aware, just assurances that warburton will get support for the job he's undertaken in replenishing the squad and money would be there if he felt he needed it. I really don't get what the big drama about it is.

Spart7 no big drama, just that DK is full of horsecr#p and his "assurances" are worth hee haw until he actually delivers on them. Remember his "assurances" about the nomad?

Couldn't tell you mate I'm sure someone put on here towards the end of last week that he would be signed within the next 48hrs but obviously nothing has happened, but I really do hope we sign him

Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.

all I'm saying guys.

Sorry onlyshow but if Rangers achieve 38 0-0 draws then they will not make the playoffs. Solid defence yes but threat and potency from midfield forwards are the other ingredients for a title win

Is that a promise noo?

I think you are missing the point Mannering, we need a solid defense first, before we move up to attack.

Foderingham/bell

Sinnamon/wabara
McGregor/kiernan
Wilson/gasporotto
Wallace

Seems a good enough defence, halliday if signed can also cover lb.

gkk it's as strong a promise as you buying me a pint in Magaluf next week.

Onlyshow I agree all good teams have a strong defence and as the majority of signings so far have been for that area I would just like to see some exciting players in the midfield and attack.

My original Rangers team was Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow, Greig, McKinnon, Baxter, Henderson, McMillan Miller Brand and Wilson and boy could they attack.
The days of the Laudrups and Gascoignes (how do you spell his name) have gone but a young exciting attacking team of British players (or Scottish) is what most of us want.

Mannering my first team too! They were real brilliant!

We might not need a striker cause w and w might think that hardie and gallagher will step up with Gibson there as well. I am happy the players we are signing buy into Warburtons plans and want to play for the mighty gers and the pull is rangers and football I have complete faith in what Warburton is doing and can't wait for the new season if we get wabara we will have a solid defence and if you don't concede you can't lose matches

Not a rumour but a suggestion.

Jack Harper of Real Madrid possibly being released this week as Real no longer have a C squad.

Boy is 19, fits profile, and would be Dinamite in midfield.

He's a first teamer if we can land him

Meant to be a gem of a player but left out of the Scotland u19 as the team couldn't afford to carry him and be was tagged a 'luxury player'

He plays as an attacker. 10 or ST rather than midfield. There were a lot of rumours going around that half the premier league were interested in him. It is also likely that he will be called up to Castilla or their B team rather than their U19.
