I think signing Kenny Miller on a one-year contract is OK. His experience and scoring record at SPL level is very good. However, this must be complemented by playing youngsters alongside Miller and Lee McCulloch next season. With Nicky Clark alongside Miller and Mackay, McLeod and Hutton in the middle with say, Law (NOT Black) that would be a pretty good team. At the back keep Bell and Wallace but let's have MacAusland, Gasparotto and Moshni together. I really don't think we need to sign anybody else to win the Championship even though Hearts & Hibs will be there too. The standard of the SPL is not much better than the Championship so use next season to sort things out ON AND OFF THE PITCH!

OP, I think you are right. Unfortunately our mismanager didn't give these lads a chance in the 4th or 3rd tier of Scottish football when he had the perfect opportunity, what makes you think he will in the 2nd tier. No Chance.
I think there's more chance of Messi, Ronaldo and Bale signing for us!

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is that there has been no forward planning under McCoist. All he has done is use a ridiculous amount of money just to get through the bottom 2 leagues. The team is full of average ageing players that play one of the dullest brands of football ever at the club. Youngsters are cast aside and players don't progress under Ally. Once again the signing of Miller is another example of trying to win the championship but not building a team worthy of challenging in the top league. IF we do get promoted what then? The current squad clearly aren't good enough to challenge for the title and not even good enough to challenge for Europe. Wonder how the pro Ally brigade will say when we are struggling in the top league and miles adrift of not only Celtic but Aberdeen and Dundee Utd

Agree0 Disagree0

Ppl keep going on about tellfer going 2 united but I watched him in the old firm youth game when all we needed was adraw to win th league and he was posted missing I think people tend to jump on the wagon about some of the young guns to early every one used to go on about hutton nhey are saying he isn't rangers class and should have got a new contract that is what I have being saying why youth don't get a chance because when they do and they have a bad game you lot destroy them

Excellent post Stewie

Stewie even then people will be saying ahh ahh but he got us back up to top league

wonder how long it would take mccoist to make his plea for us to keep chucking our money down the drain RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has thanked fans for their incredible support and urged them to continue backing the Light Blues in the Championship next season as the Club looks to return to the very top of Scottish football on rangers website what other manager comes out and asks the fans to but season tickets this is the boards job and managers job is to produce exciting football so fans come back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Superally only deals with football matters, he has said so himself on numerous occasions, oh unless it involves getting us to part with our money, after all that is the ONLY reason he has been employed by and backed all of these crooks, but bless anyone who thinks he is there to lead Rangers back to glory lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of us don't need asked to carry on supporting our team and some of us obviously do so what's wrong with a manager asking for support from fans that are undecided whither to buy a ST or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't need asking just something worth supporting and there is zero worth supporting in McCoist and co.

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 We won the league the last two years, last year without losing a league game but that's now history, next season will be the most exciting for years and I can't wait for the season to start.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smokey bear your right I won't be going back as long as he is there if he changes his tactics and starts playing attractive football I will but the chances of that are as jose says zero

Agree0 Disagree0

Smokeys right, Jyf do you like the dross he plays because I don't. long baw.

Here we go again. Ally McCoist speaks. he must be evil, he only wants our money!

Do you think he's going to say the oppisite. "i hope no-one comes to watch us and I hope we don't get promoted"?

Naw. Get a grip.

If you read it right he is actually congratulating us on our tremendous support over the last couple of seasons home & away and he hopes it continue's.

Its getting to be typical of this site that you concentrate on the negative, the fact is that we are in for an exciting season and we will have to play a lot better next season if we are going to win the league, also there is a good chance we will meet the tims at some stage in the season, I personally can't wait for Miller to get his usual brace against them, bring it on.

Agree0 Disagree0

@4 jyf, you seem to be in a minority of one, sorry two, must include ally, who actually cares about the "unbeaten" record. As far as next season, we will be playing some FULL TIME sides, not teams full of guys that have put a shift in before turning up to play. Not sure what you are finding exciting about that given the dross that has been endured for the last couple of seasons. Unless a manager with some idea takes the reins I fear a longer stay in the Championship than we would like may be ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

@11 Yes I appear to be a" minority of one" but only on this site. In the supporters clubs, in the pubs at away games, and at work the Rangers fans all wanted us to go undefeated and we done just that. Can I ask you a question, do you not think that next season will be exciting and can you not see why some of us (more than just me)are looking forward to it?

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 considering you "will never set foot in Ibrox" as long as Ally is there you obviously do need asked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jyf send me a wee drop of what your on ta the big chap

Agree0 Disagree0

@12, in reply to your questions, No and No. Look at the last 2 seasons and the amount of goals we scored in the last 15-20 minutes of these games. Most of the time Part-Time teams matched us till the fitness factor came in to play. Next season this will not be the case with Hibs, Hearts, Falkirk, etc, etc. A question for you, how many teams will we play next season that will not think they can win the game? Not many in my opinion.
I just cannot support the present mismanager given that he has failed to take the opportunity to build for the future and instead, paid over the odds for overrated players to play in the 3rd and 4th tier of Scottish football over the last 2 seasons. The financial consequences are very apparent and the football as a spectacle, well we all know just how terribly poor this has been.
If, however, a new Manager comes in then, like many others, I may have a different view.

Agree0 Disagree0

@14 I'm on nothing, I've supported Rangers all my life, there is not a single Rangers fan before us that has seen us in the bottom division so this is unique get this mate NEXT SEASON WILL BE EXCITING or am I wrong.

kenny brings a lot of quality and experience to the squad which can only help the young guys. like to see us strengthening up at the back though need at least 2 gavin gunning and sean hutchinson hopefully with scott allan added to the mid

What is this obsession with us playing our young players, it's about ability not age. Obviously we would all love to bring through top quality youngsters into the side from Murray Park but I think a few guys on here have Amnesia!
When we got demoted into 3rd Division and had no time to find replacements for our departed experienced players we had no option and had to play them and they struggled in the 4th Tier of Scottish Football! we added 3 or 4 experienced players last season and improved 30-40% as a team.
Charlie Telfer Rejected a new deal because he wanted to play every week and in SPFL it's not like we just let him go to make way for the return of King Kenny.
Miller has tried harder than ANY player Iv ever seen at Ibrox and I for 1 will welcome him with open arms.
The problem is our coaching staff at Murray Park are s***, Septic reserves and under 19's have won the league 90% of the past 10 seasons and arguably have similar if not inferior training facilities, so it MUST be the coaches who are better. (Gritted teeth!)
We need to do what Ajax do and pay 5 or 6 World Class Youth Coaches £100k per year not £20k and then they sell a player from their youth set up EVERY season for average £5m+ (Occasionally far more)
I would also like us to be a feeder team for a top European club where we get the best youngsters to add to our own pool to increase the overall ability of young players while we get the next Potential Messi for a season on loan every season, then there's no risk financially on big wages and transfer Fees.
This is a long term ambition when we return to top flight as we have to realise our limitations even when we are back on top of Scottish football, I'm sick of not being able to compete for players with English Championship teams so why not get the best coaches in and pay them properly.
How Durrant has a job is mystifying to me?

Totally agree mate the thing is playing a clutch of youngsters at the same time with us ain't going to happen as we the fans demand instant success were as other teams fans are happy just to finish in top six & a cup run now and then .
r.f

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't expect a full team of youths but they must be given a chance or what's the point of murray park and as far as coaches go judging with last seasons results gordon durie and co are doing all right considering he is not long in the job and working with a buffoon at the top of the tree

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldnt agree more I think Miller will be a good one year signing his goals will be important next year as for playing youth how many top class youth players do we have i'm sad to see Telfer go I think we should have kept him but he was offered a new deal he chose to turn it down you would need to ask how good the deal was but we have no scouting system every big club needs one I can hear the roar on here if we played more youth then got stuck in the championshp another year the youth would be slaughtered so ill take Miller maye even Boyd get us back to the top league then we need more investment change of owners would help then build a team over three or four years which can win the league get us back ino Europe where the real money is so calm down let ge though next year

OP the "obsession" about playing youngsters as you say is for one we are struggling financially and can't afford to be paying overated journey men who couldn't give a monkeys about the club. Who are only interested in picking up a nice wage. Take Scott Gallacher as a example. Before Bell ect could play due to the embargo Gallacher was doing a great job in goals but that wasn't good enough he was quickly loaded out and we brought in Steve Simosen why? We're never going to know if some of the younger ones are good enough if they never get the chance. But a season unbeaten is more important.

Agree0 Disagree0

Amnesia,,, think you may have little of that going on there, on a few points you are on about. We were not relegated,, We stupidly went in to liquidation and broke the rules,, as for youth being the main players against East Stirling where were they in this lot? Alexander, Goian, Bocanegra, Broadfoot, Wallace (Cribari 77), McCulloch, Little (Kyle 81), Black, Sandaza, Shiels (McKay 23), MacLeod.
MMM Not that many is there?
We didn't really need to find new players to get out the 3rd division, if you think we did then you have fell for Ally's hype. and still are if you think bringing old players on big wages is the answer,. the problem with the Miller's in this world of football is we can't sell them on. we can't make money out of their ability they just cost money. we should be selling and bringing through if you are looking at the Ajax model instead we have the ALLY Ajax model which squanders money in a relentless quest for self glory. Ally wants to get to the big league no matter what the costs in straight seasons for one thing HIMSELF. He will forever be boasting what he has done taking us back to our rightful place. but its HE that has done it, nothing or no one else,, beware the man who thinks he is bigger than the team they only see themselves in the big mirrors.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Alexander
02 Argiriou
03 Cribari
04 Perry
05 Wallace
06 McCulloch Booked
07 Faure
08 MacLeod
10 Shiels (Crawford - 75' )
11 Aird (McKay - 81' )
09 Sandaza (Hutton - 24' )

A scattering of youth in the starting 11 and another 3 on from the bench. This is the team that gave Motherwell the runaround and dumped them out of the Scottish Cup whilst sitting 2nd in SPL. But OP says they're not good enough to get out of the 3rd division! Very Good!

Agree0 Disagree0

Meant to say, and barely seen since.
