06 May 2016 19:05:18
While most people would agree that it is horrible to see the demise, financial or otherwise, of a football club I think we a can all agree that Dundee United are an exception.

The way that Thompson acted when we had our brief hiccup was scandalous. This was a man who didn't even want Rangers to be able to play in the bottom division,

Now four years on, We are back in the Premier League, in a Scottish Cup final;possible Europa League next season and the future looking bright.

They on the other hand have just sacked 22 players, managerless and are the price of a pint away from administration.

I distinctly remember at the time saying this will come back to bite some people and that is exactly what has happened.

hahahaha.

06 May 2016 22:10:53
Good to see that world famous humility is back.

06 May 2016 21:19:19
Well said 100% correct thompson is a waste of space had his own agenda against us backfired big time.

06 May 2016 22:38:52
JFC, absolutely spot on mate!

Now, how's this for an idea!? We buy the Arabs for peanuts, (not what that snake in the grass Thompson reckons they are worth! ) and send all our young, up and coming talent there on loan, gaining first team football, whilst gelling as a team, in a half decent league! ( let's face it, it's been more entertaining than the premier league this year!

Thus, carrying on the tradition of United being a feeder club, but this time around it would be benefitting us rather than the manky mob!?

Any thoughts on this?

Don't worry lads, I haven't lost the plot, it is the banter page after all! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‚.

06 May 2016 23:37:28
Poetic: What do you expect? Thompson was a shark who took glee in our demise and wanted more of our blood. Humility doesn't come into it.

07 May 2016 04:29:51
Poetic,
Don't know about humility being back but its nice to see you back. Any particular reason for your hiatus for the last couple of weeks?

07 May 2016 07:04:16
Aye it is extremely difficult to be sympathetic when you consider how much enjoyment Thompson took out of our club's plight. Wonder if the patient would have reacted had it been his club in our predicament.

07 May 2016 07:53:45
I agree with posts I, e Thompson but its a sad day when
one of our bigger clubs are about to go under
some talk about creating bigger leagues we don't have enough decent teams in Scotland to create more than one league
this is only highlighted by the signing of a Liverpool
youth player for 25ok as great and before every one starts
I know you have don't to spend big to get good players.

07 May 2016 07:55:39
Even before all the stuff that him and Dundee utd were rats. Feel sorry for the players not their fault but he's sold every descent player at the club then sacked the manager lol. His father was the same.

07 May 2016 09:24:00
Jfc- Brief hiccup, Hahahahahaha

Comedy Gold.

07 May 2016 10:30:34
Poetic. The most obsessed by miles.

07 May 2016 10:39:37
321ron, no mate we should let them fester away mate, do unto otheers comes to mind, or as ma wee granny would say, hell slap it into them.

07 May 2016 10:42:54
It is a brief hiccup in our long illustrious history tbh.

07 May 2016 10:44:06
Where was he in the aftermath of his club's exit from the cup? A bit like Tommy42. Hmmmmm.

07 May 2016 13:23:38
Scotjo-

Alot of people took glee (rightly or wrongly) in your demise. Personally, I take no pleasure in a number of people being made unemployed - especially in this financial climate. I don't see why you should. I fail to see what it gets you. Just my opinion.

JFC-

I've been around. And I was certainly around in the aftermath of our defeat, a few guys on here will testify to that. I came on, took my licks and gave you all the credit in the world. To be honest, it's been mostly transfer talk from there on out.

Seeker-

No need to wonder. I can answer that. If my club was in your predicament, I'd be more concerned with what was/ is going on behind my own doors, than the fact that some people were taking glee in it. As I said above, I take no joy in anyone being made unemployed in a country were foodbanks are becoming more and more prevalent. The fact is, and this won't be popular I'm sure, this whole revenge type talk is exactly why a demographic took glee in your demise. I don't say that lightly. My best friend is a Rangers man, and season book holder, and the goings on broke his heart. I empathize. I also empathize with all the businesses that suffered and/ or went under because of what was going on at Ibrox. Again, it comes back to humility. The team has down well, especially this year (so credit to that) but when your first instinctupon success is to say:

-WE'RE BACK
-YOU'LL PAY FOR X
-YOU DESERVE Y

Etc, you'll see why I think it's a little insensitive, and counter productive. You are starting as you mean to go on - aggressively. And that's fine - just don't be surprised when people then take glee in your demise.

Each to their own I suppose.

Additionally, if your last comment about "where was he? " is in relation to me, see above. I was here, on the Sunday night and a few days later giving Rangers credit and taking the hits.

Leven-

In a thread about another team, you mention I'm obsessed. In the same thread, another poster mentions I haven't been on the board for a while. I'll let that percolate with you until you see the error of your statement.

07 May 2016 14:19:10
Keep it going poetic, it is funny, but not in the way you think. xx.

07 May 2016 14:31:10
If only we lived in a perfect world poetic. Everything you've said could be levelled at all the teams (including yours, in fact mainly yours) who laughed at our demise.
I think you'll find its out overwhelming success rather than our attitudes that brings on the hatred, all the most successful teams are treated like this.
I think after all the jokes and wild statements flung at our club over the last 4 years we are more than entitled to laugh at the likes of Dundee Utd and you's who were the most vocal against us. This is not revenge, it's Karma!

07 May 2016 17:05:37
Common sense and articulate well reasoned conversation will only get you so far I see.

As I said before, each to their own.

07 May 2016 17:55:53
Poetic: Difference is they are relegated, they ain't going to lose livelihoods anywhere at the club.

07 May 2016 18:05:54
Poetic: I don't get what you don't get, it's only a natural reaction after the way he conducted himself during that time.

07 May 2016 18:18:40
Scotjo-

I really don't want to get into a debate about this. Half of you think I'm at the wind up, the other half don't agree. Fine. That's your privilege.

One thing though, my initial response was to comments such as this:

"They [have just] sacked 22 players, [are] manager-less and are the price of a pint away from administration. "

I'm pretty sure that would not only suggest people losing their jobs/ livelihoods, but also that you (the general you) are taking delight in it. That was my original point of contention.

But like I said, I don't want to get into a debate about this.

07 May 2016 18:35:41
Poetic: You are doing your best to get into a debate then, I know nothing of anyone losing jobs, I simply found them getting relegated rather amusing after all the stuff he threw at us, so stop jumping the gun thinking you know what we are all thinking.

07 May 2016 19:13:26
Does anyone else think that thepatheticpatient is a a closet United fan? I know they are their feeder club but this really has touched a nerve.

For someone claiming not to get into a debate, he isn't half getting into a debate about it.

If he can't see why we are laughing at United then he that makes it even funnier.

Like Cullin72 said, funny but not in the way you think.

I don't think you know what some of those words mean. I'm assuming as much - it's either that or your deliberately making mistakes. Either or. Good luck to you.

06 May 2016 18:22:53
Derek McInnes has warned Scottish Championship title winners Rangers that his Aberdeen side will still be Celtic's main challengers for the Premiership title next season.

Good for him, someone has to cheer up that sorry lot. Lol.

06 May 2016 18:36:11
McInnes should shut up and try to get his team to stop being a bunch of bottlers! everytime they had a chance to gain ground on Celtic or overtake Celtic they sha* themselves! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

06 May 2016 18:58:20
Forfarger - On the money! This was their big chance and they blew it. The lack of consistency and fear they show when it matters is hilarious.

Maybe they will be the big challengers, but I bet they don't bottle it on the four league games against the only show in town next season. It seems that only Rangers raise Aberdeen's game as they always treat it like a cup final.

That makes TWO teams obsessed with Rangers.

06 May 2016 19:58:40
Only two?

07 May 2016 07:56:59
Aberdeen will be challenging next season there is absolutely no dou t about it. They've got a goalscorer, 2 good winger, fullbacks are excellent the only thing they lack is a good goalkeeper and depth.

07 May 2016 09:27:00
Aberdeen bottled it! Bit like Hibs everytime Sevco dropped points they thought it was a great idea to drop more. Compare the two tables and I think Celtics is better reading against a stronger opposition than some jumped up Zombies.

07 May 2016 09:46:43
Lmph, I could try to give you an education on company law but there's no point. Never mind though, in a couple of weeks EUFA will confirm that Rangers has won the Scottish Cup for the 34th time and not the 1st. At that point you and your knitting circle of like-minded pals can foam at the mouth and state that it's all a masonic conspiracy. that part aside, we won the league by playing attacking football. More importantly, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, St. Johnstone, Dundee, Dundee Utd, Inverness and Kilmarnock were all beaten this season either by Rangers or the perennial bottlers Hibs.

07 May 2016 10:21:05
Lhmph

The Celtic table might be better reading but I guess the dhims website is too gruesome for you these days or you wouldn't be on here.

07 May 2016 13:05:22
Be honest with yourself Lmph, do you think anyone was remotely interested in Celtic's season outside of the methadome?

No. Nobody cared and now we are back in the top flight they are interested, enjoy your sevco comments and blind ignorance while you can.

07 May 2016 19:16:15
Are they still banging the 'SEVCO' drum?

And yes, they did bottle it. So did Hibs. And Celtic in the semi final. So there!

06 May 2016 14:46:04
Heard there's a second ballot for cup final, has anyone else heard this?

06 May 2016 15:57:33
I was in collecting final tickets on Thursday and was told that 2nd ballot would not be arranged till Monday at least, as they obviously don't know how many tickets are not taken up from first ballot.

06 May 2016 14:15:59
Seen this on BBC

"The Scottish Professional Football League is celebrating a new deal with the BBC that is worth Β£10.6m - nearly double the previous amount - over four years that gives audiences better coverage - with more cameras at matches"

Who thinks this is because the famous Glasgow rangers are back in the SPL

Oh yes we were missed!

06 May 2016 15:39:08
Defo, now the spl should be able to get a better sky/ bt deal also.

06 May 2016 17:42:12
I think the way forward is to negotiate are own deal with tv companys.

07 May 2016 04:33:53
BigBobby,

Totally agree, though it will never happen.

Why should everyone else benefit from the most successful club in world football being back where they belong. I seem to remember they couldn't wait to get rid of us a few years ago and now they are jumping for joy at 'their' windfall.

At least Dundee United won't be getting any of it.

07 May 2016 10:27:31
Bobby
I think I remember that membership of the SFA / Scottish League, as was, is dependant on letting their business experts negotiate wonderful deals.
This new deal is due to their wonderfulness and nothing to do with the return of TFGR you must remember that all of the experts said we wouldn't be missed, all of those experts couldn't be wrong or even spiteful. The next thing you'll be saying is that the lower leagues benefitted from us being there
Dear me.

06 May 2016 13:50:15
I sincerely hope Celtic pip us for the signature of David Graham from Sunderland. According to Wikipedia he has scored 30 goals in SIX years, wow isn't he SOME striker.

06 May 2016 14:11:00
Playing at the highest level in English football. How many had waghorn scored at a lower level?

06 May 2016 15:41:34
How many did hooper score in the premier league. Danny graham would rip it up in the spl like hooper did for celtic.

06 May 2016 21:59:57
Guys depends on the players about you, some guys don't fit into certain systems, don't know the boy Graham but as I have said before I think the players that come in are ones you don't expect, the Liverpool lad exempt .
MW stated the fans want a 6.5 cd and 6.5 forward, but that doesn't fit into his way of thinking, let's just watch and enjoy .

06 May 2016 15:04:21
i think he would do allright he has scored a few goals for blackburn scince arriving on loan he scored a lot of goals for watford he is championship striker not premier that's why he is available.

06 May 2016 12:20:39
Not so much a rumour rather an opinion.

I'd like to see Warbs and the team make a move to bring Gauld on loan with a view to a permanent signing. Ticks all the boxes I think they'd be looking for; young, Scottish, versatile, technically very good.

Not sure that it will or ever could happen (financially) but would be a great coup IMO.

(Also, first time post)

06 May 2016 12:48:29
Id love to see him at ibrox mate would suit what warbs is trying to do, think they'll be clubs in england after him though.

06 May 2016 16:04:00
Something like a Β£40mil buy-out clause.

06 May 2016 16:09:12
Agreed would be great to see him at Ibrox on loan.

06 May 2016 16:54:59
Sporting lisbon are putting him out on loan to another portugese team obviously to see how he copes in there league.

06 May 2016 20:12:16
Too lightweight, first puff of wind and he would be whisked away over the govan stand.

06 May 2016 22:21:17
Well he coped fine in a Dundee United side when he was younger he's bound to have grown out a bit.

06 May 2016 13:38:08
Would be great, lisbon would prefer to loan him to another team in portugal according to the daily record. Who knows tho, european football could be a big pull.

06 May 2016 07:08:19
we must sign a better goal keeper what about killies JAMIE MACDONALD.

06 May 2016 09:18:50
Far from good enough, rangers have always had top class keepers, I have hopes for young Liam Kelly but he's still young just now, done really well at east fife on loan.

06 May 2016 09:20:29
He is a good goalie who has performed heroics in quite a few Killie games this season. Defo worth considering.

06 May 2016 09:38:50
Great keeper although I think goalkeeper is the least of our worries.

06 May 2016 09:40:46
Give Foderingham time, He has pulled off quite a few saves that kept us in matches. what I would do though, is swap bell for a goalkeeper from downsouth, one that will push Foderingham. it's best to have 2 competitive Goalkeepers, and let's face it, Bell isn't very competitive for Fod.

06 May 2016 10:19:49
Why not try and get Alexander back?

06 May 2016 10:33:21
Doiger, there is plenty of goalkeepers down south we can go for that are young and are just as if not better than Alexander.

06 May 2016 10:34:00
Put faith in Wes for a couple of seasons to allow McCrorie time to mature physically and mentally, then we will have a top class GK.

06 May 2016 07:41:08
Already been burned with goalkeepers from Kilmarnock.

06 May 2016 11:13:34
we have got give fotheringham a chance.

06 May 2016 12:07:36
Foderingham needs serious competiton for the No 1 jersey and currently he his a guaranteed starter every week.

06 May 2016 12:24:55
I think talk of replacing Foderingham as number 1 is crazy at the moment. Agree we need quality competition if the younger guys aren't quite ready yet but I've liked what I've seen from Fods. Minus the Hibs incident a couple of weeks ago, which can happy to the best of goalkeepers in their careers, I've been really impressed. He has a great attitude in press conferences, conducts himself well and from a playing perspective has pulled of some really important saves and distributes the ball amazingly well. Proper competition for his place and a sturdier CB in front of him and we'll see him step it up a level.

06 May 2016 12:37:37
Danny ward from liverpool, was outstanding at Aberdeen.

06 May 2016 14:06:35
Great shout cee he's a very good keeper but he's now getting game time at Liverpool so I don't think he will be leaving anytime soon mate.

06 May 2016 14:24:24
Blue sea. He was beaten TWICE at his near post in the SAME game.

Not the mark of a good keeper let alone a decent one.

06 May 2016 14:38:04
It would help any keeper if we get a defender that goes and wins cross balls.

06 May 2016 16:12:50
Foderingham is average at best and has shipped a lot of soft goals. We need a better keeper if we want to challenge Celtic. McDonald and the keeper at Hamilton are far better than Foderingham.

07 May 2016 07:57:51
Stefan klos wasn't the best in his first season remember.

06 May 2016 01:13:32
If we managed to get Danny graham I think that would be great signing for spl standards. last couple of seasons he's been nowhere near his old self however get him back to half the player we was and he would be a great spl player.

06 May 2016 06:49:35
Not for me he's struggled for goals since he left Watford plenty a young lads down there banging them in would be looking for a lot less wages than him I would pass on that 1.

06 May 2016 09:15:38
not for me either, not good enough.

06 May 2016 10:23:06
Never seen why EPL teams keep persisting with Graham, he could not buy a goal for years. No way is he what we need.

06 May 2016 10:35:34
On the contrary, he has something to prove now and a move north could be exactly what he needs to get back to his goalscoring feats of Watford, I think he would be a great signing.

06 May 2016 06:33:10
I'm pretty sure Iv read the same article as you and all I can say is, it's a non starter, this guy has been in the prem for years, ok he is playing in the championship at the moment (not sure if he is on loan) but he must easily be getting 30k a week, what can we afford weekly wage top line? 15k at a push?

Do any of my fellow gers fans know who the highest earner is and what their wage is? I imagine that it'll be lee Wallace and I'd take a stab at 10k a week maximum. Might be wrong but it's just my guess. Also is Danny graham hungry enough to succeed up here? He's been about a few clubs in the last few years and never really done anything to note. Just my opinion on the matter.

06 May 2016 11:14:20
is he on loan at blackburn.
