So lads, what's your thoughts on what formation Pedro will play next season? That's him went 4-1-2-1-2 a couple of times against Celtic but away to Aberdeen he went more 4-3-3. I personally don't like the diamond midfield setup as I like a good winger in a team but if that's the route Pedro is going down then so be it.

That leads me to another point regarding the recruitment in the summer. If that is the shape he's going for then Weiss, Naismith and McLean would be pointless signings. Rossiter should be fit to take that holding midfielder position and Kranjcar will be available to play the attacking midfield role so really all we are after is two central midfielders, one of which I hope is Ryan Jack. Wilson looked like a different player prior to the old firm double header, I honestly think he deserves a chance to partner a new centre half next season, Wallace/ Beerman are fine at left back, Hodson/ Tavernier should be kept to cover both full back positions if Pedro brings in this boy from Mexico. I'd go for Cummings and another centre forward to play together and also alongside Miller at times, also Dodoo is an option to play up top, Mckay would flourish central so there may be an opportunity for him to fight for that position with Kranjcar and Windass and Holt are OK cover for central midfield. So in summary, I reckon 6 signings in the summer is adequate, I'm concerned Pedro will go for quantity over quality if he's allowed to and we should have learnt lessons from MW last summer.

you can't really judge what formation he will go with going from what he has done with the current team. You can only use the players at your disposal which doesn't give him many options at the moment.

my formations for next season would be 5-2-3 in europe with 2 WBs almost making it a 3-4-3

In SPL would either go with 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-3-2 depending on who we are playing.

06 May 2017 18:56:51
Pedro said at the presser he likes having a squad of 22, 23 players max.

06 May 2017 19:23:10
4-4-2 or 4-3-2-1 for league

3-5-2 for europe if we get there

06 May 2017 21:40:11
Why go on about Rossiter getting fit to play? Wishful thinking he'll ever play as I see it. Mystery illness by way of mystery explanation without end. Give up on the idea he'll play for Rangers.

06 May 2017 22:19:16
Is it just me that doesn't think Kranjcar is the answer for the attacking mid position? I think he'll be a good squad player to have and will play well against the smaller teams in the league but I just don't think he has it in the big games. Even back in his prime in the premiership he never seemed to play well against the bigger teams.

07 May 2017 10:33:19
Here's somebody who thinks Cummings, Jack, McKay, Windass and Holt are better options than Naismith and Weiss! I despair.

07 May 2017 10:38:06
I wouldn't give Dodoo the time of day. his attempt at holding the ball up last Sat was embarrassing.

07 May 2017 11:09:26
Im with u on that 1 Stu. no doubt he'd be a good squad player but i think for all the ability he's got he plays at a slow pace which is what we need to try and weed out our game and start playing at a higher tempo all over the park.

06 May 2017 17:27:04
is Andrew Waterworth of Linfield worth a risk? he's 31 and scores for fun, so far 78 in 138, incredible return, and a real poacher striker, Maybe not the right level but i would take a chance if he would come. Just scored a hat-trick in their cup final.

06 May 2017 18:54:12
Wee bill I'm a blue man and was at cup final today I love waterworth but Irish league is his standard imo

07 May 2017 10:41:49
hooly78, i live in Bangor but ill health stops me seeing live matches so all i see on TV is my sum total, i accept what you say although we are not much better than the Irish league at the minute : (
. My point was just based on his positional sense, he always seems to be in the right place and doesn't miss too many. Big strong lad but i suppose you are right? shame though

07 May 2017 13:52:34
Well wee bill garner probably would not score as many as waterworth in the Irish league. Says it all really about are transfer business last summer.

06 May 2017 17:08:28
Of course just roumers at the moment but the names like Bruno alves wiess dorrens and Naismith is very exciting the exact standard of player that we need to challenge and get into Europe groups this is more like it. but no doubt some people will still be saying we should go for Ryan jack Sam nickleson Jason Cummings Greg Stewart pmsl.

06 May 2017 17:20:49
Deanobear, agree with you on mostly everything you've stated above! I have to admit i rate ryan jack mate! I agree with you on sam nickleson, jason cummings and greg Stewart, wouldn't want us to sign any of these 3!

06 May 2017 21:31:39
First time on here but how can you expect rangers to sign Naismith Norwich releasing him to lower wage bill he's on 50 grand a week according to papers

06 May 2017 22:27:29
Naismith has made his money and is in the later stages of his career. Only time will tell but perhaps Naismith just wants to give something back to the Club after the disaster that happened when Murray sold the Club to Whyte.

07 May 2017 08:25:46
TOMUSA

Where did you hear that about Naismith? Don't know why people constantly go on about him. His time with Rangers has long passed and he will not be back at the club

07 May 2017 15:35:38
Bengy, Naismith is the minimum quality we should be signing! No one knows whether he will be back at the club or not but one thing is for sure, we need players of a significantly better calibre than we currently have! No point in bringing in more players of a junior league calibre like those we have right now!

06 May 2017 15:50:44
Wouldn't bruno alves be on a pretty hefty wage playing in italy or would he be realistic seeing as we are the last massive club he'll probably attract. Looks tough as nails exactly the kind of player we should be looking at.

06 May 2017 13:26:26
Weiss is a number 10 not a left winger like others we have ruined if he plays there you will see the quality.

06 May 2017 14:43:34
Not a left winger? like where he played at the euro's and tore Russia and England a new one? Weiss can play anywhere behind the striker and do a job, and people who don't rate him obviously don't know their football on here.
What age was Weiss back when he was at us? 20? Maybe inconsistent at the time but he still done well can't argue against that, we won the league that season. Now being in his prime would be an excellent time to get him, 3x the player he was, just don't think he would be interested in anything less than £50,000 a week though so don't see it happening.

06 May 2017 07:51:48
talk of getting rid of tav I think is premature of all the team playing this season he was one of the few that tried to make things happen by taking on a man, not like others who froze and passed the buck. If he was deployed in right midfield with an established full back behind him I think we would reap the benefit. He would need to brush up on his putrid free kicks and crosses. I would keep him.

06 May 2017 10:40:26
Like you blue bear Tav would not be top of my list to get shut of . I would keep him like you say but only to be played RM or for squad cover. He may be offloaded though as someone who's more likely to get a bit of money. Although he is criticised by many I would also keep Hodson. They say he is not"Rangers class" but if we end up having to keep some of the squad rather a decent defensive minded full back who played well against Celtic at Park head and has put on good displays for his country against the likes of Germany than some of the hopeless chances like Kiernan, Halliday, Forrester and MOH to name but a few.

06 May 2017 11:32:04
Agree with you Liverpool Ger about hodson much better defender than tav.

06 May 2017 12:26:58
I keep reading posts on here that this player or that player ain't the standard we need. No matter who wears the hallowed top I can guarantee there will be someone who will pipe up and say that exact line, they ain't Gers standard. No matter who Pedro posts they should be given 100% by us the fans.

06 May 2017 14:13:56
The sad fact of life though, bluster 69, is that the vast majority of this current bunch don't even come close to being good enough, and not just because of their football ability. They lack passion and respect fro the jersey and the one I would single out sadly is Halliday since he, as a so called Rangers fan, has been a major let down!

06 May 2017 14:07:24
Hodson is a steady Eddie type of player imo and every team needs players like this. I agree with my Scouser friend. He has performed well in international games. How he isn't an automatic choice for us in this league is beyond me

06 May 2017 14:35:53
Tavs is one i'd definitely keep. next year when we go to tough venues like Piggery, Pittodrie etc and we need to set up a bit more defence minded, i think Tavs made for that right mid slot with a good fullback behind him.

06 May 2017 16:31:01
Agree with you guys about keeping both tav and hodson, tav obviously being the better of the two as every manager we've had this season consitently pick him! hodson a decent player. Would say outside of celtic and aberdeen can't really think of a rb in the league who's better. (who knows how paterson at hearts will be after his injury. )

06 May 2017 01:05:31
Wouldn't take much cash to sign 22 yr old Russian striker panyukov from atlantas Klaipeda scored 10 goals in 10 games already.

06 May 2017 07:04:40
I'd imagine a work permit would b a problem tho

06 May 2017 10:56:56
Why is that? Hamilton have got Brazilians in they're team

06 May 2017 15:01:29
The Brazilians have Portuguese passports. Portugal is in the EU. Russia isn't. It's not going to happen.

06 May 2017 17:36:54
Russia is in eu

07 May 2017 03:33:43
No it ain't

07 May 2017 10:42:08
When did that happen, caw1? Must have missed that on the news.

07 May 2017 11:22:00
Part of russia is part of Europe. why do they play in the euro championship then? sure its 40% part of Europe.
