Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

07 Dec 2017 22:28:36
Would have loved to see DM at Ibrox
really good upcoming boss
Felt he has taken Aberdeen as far as he could. Word is moneys short otherwise why put himself through all this, time to start questioning
the board. Once again another f**k-up. The next candidate will know he's second choice, great way to conduct our business. And buy the way don't start this rubbish O' he's no a Ranger but now he has a job to do at Aberdeen.

07 Dec 2017 23:01:13
Yes, the next candidate will be second choice. However, does that stop the individual doing the job properly and the way he wants. No. I think it will drive the person on more, it would me.

Whoever gets the job will have the reigns to the biggest club in Scotland and know the opportunity he has got, it will then he down to his abilities.

Who would have thought when Chelsea appointed RDM he would taken them to CL glory. Now I'm not saying whoever we hire will win us the CL bit he may take us forward to the league, he may not also but we await and see. However, said will support.

08 Dec 2017 00:05:22
fella bears just joined
reckon we dodged a bullet with wee del
by all accounts he bottled it when faced with challenge of stopping celtic
truth is out there

check out statement from gers 2nite

08 Dec 2017 06:23:10
I don't believe money was the problem. regardless of our state we can still offer a far superior wage, transfer budget to him. we’re a far bigger club with a top training facility, his boyhood club into the bargain. i think its a combo of us dithering and also working under a DOF. just my take on it lads

07 Dec 2017 22:30:12
Murty to be in charge until the new year wise move I think the players respect him the media seem to like him and he has shown he knows how to set up a team . Hopefully on to better things now the squad know who's in charge

08 Dec 2017 00:57:36
honestly believe if we can get consistent and win at the hole (worse gers teams have) u never know
always believe

07 Dec 2017 22:37:29
gers09

Bronckhorst rules out becoming new Light Blues manager but Feyenoord boss says club 'still in his heart'
As for McCann he's won 4 games out of 16. Stop blowing hot air out your arse
DM decided to stay put what does that say about us.

07 Dec 2017 23:41:29
Bassett not blowing hot air - it's called an opinion and last time I looked I didn't need your permission. DM stayed put as he's happy being an underachiever and couldn't hack a challenge, says more about him than us.

08 Dec 2017 01:01:53
wee gio no the answer
GM for now need a guy to stop themmm winning 10 we all know that would be heart breaking
dunno who at moment but I believe Dave king n friends have that in mind hence time taken, new guy will be asked to stop that on 3 year deal
always believe

08 Dec 2017 09:39:56
He said that almost three weeks ago and you drag it out as some sort of news story! In the same interview he also said “You can never tell, maybe in the future, because it is still a club that’s in my heart. ” Things change.

07 Dec 2017 22:40:59
Murty for the next few weeks then. That will surely stop all speculation! The debate continues.

07 Dec 2017 22:22:28
Club Statement, Murty in charge as interim manager until at least the end of year,

07 Dec 2017 22:22:08
rangers release statement confirming graeme murty will be in charge until at least the new year so he will be in charge for old firm game. i never wanted mcinnes so think we dodged a bullet there. i want giovanni in but doubt it will happen i can see it being mcleish or even walter smith.

07 Dec 2017 23:15:18
McInnes has just been gubbed twice by a team with caretaker manager who has no real 1st team experience. Why we went for him i don't know. I'm glad he didn't take the job

07 Dec 2017 23:23:54
I don't see a problem bringing McLeish in till the end of the season with Murty as his #2.

I like Murty, but he needs more experience before becoming our number one. Flawed or not, McLeish can give him that.

08 Dec 2017 01:03:32
mark allen tae f
ecks job GM boss see how it goes

07 Dec 2017 22:21:18
Good statement from the board. DM a big fish in his own wee bowl, can't stand the pressure and will now never be a manager of our club. Not up for it so enjoy the comfort zone and might even achieve 3rd place.

07 Dec 2017 22:53:54
A good statement!?
Seriously!?
That statement is an utter disgrace! there's huge problems at the club and needs to be addressed now!

07 Dec 2017 23:25:31
Our club need get a grip statements like this do no good for our reputian no wonder clubs do not like us with the way we conduct our business.

King said apointment was close now murty in charge to at least end year
So is ovbious mcinnis was first choice.
our board should just take it on the chin he didn't want to come end off

07 Dec 2017 23:46:03
ar9. . A good statement? It's childish at best! i'm still in shock that Derek McInnes said no. I know what Rangers means to him and for him to knock Rangers back scares the rubbish out of me. At best he has knocked it back because he doesn't feel wanted. at worst he thinks bugger that I will give that sideshow a miss!

08 Dec 2017 01:06:53
hey dutch
he a bottler truth
we don't need that but he was honest he said too big for him
nothing else
good luck del in wotever u don't achieve

08 Dec 2017 08:59:23
Dutch.
If rangers meant as much as you suggest he would at least have spoken to the club. How any rangers player can have any association with the sheep never mind being their manager after what they did to Durrant baffles me. Let him rot.

08 Dec 2017 09:41:55
Jones, why is it a disgrace? Or are you just another moaning windbag with nothing to back up your ludicrous ranting?

07 Dec 2017 22:21:00
Please please please can we get rid of that clown Jim Trainer
Today has been embarrassing enough without a statement like that.
Our PR needs to be seriously improved.

08 Dec 2017 00:06:51
100% agree. Better PR required ASAP. That statement totally lacks all logic in places. Embarrassing.

08 Dec 2017 01:42:41
That statement was almost as embarrassing as the knock back from Mcinnes it was a disgrace out PR is miles behind Celtic and this just sums up the state we are in get Trainer out of our club he is a liability

07 Dec 2017 22:11:47
If you were him and had a great set up at Aberdeen and then watched Rangers players play for Murty on Sunday like that, would you take the gamble. Our set up and the length of time we took probably unsettled him and at 46, he has plenty of time to go else where.

To much of a gamble for him I think although I didn't want him. Move on and see who next. I do think we need to look at someone who is comfortable with our set up and our focus on youth.

Who?

08 Dec 2017 01:08:40
didnae take gers job after speaking to his mrs
he doesn't want pressure
wants easy life
move on now he's history

07 Dec 2017 22:08:55
murty until the end if year at least.

I back him. We have big games with Hibs, st Johnstone, Motherwell and Celtic.

I believe with Murty that we can get at least 10 points. Let's wait and see. I'm sure it'll be hell of a ride.

Club statement reveals that no one is in thoughts, which is ridiculously remarkable.

08 Dec 2017 01:11:17
Wee GM cares n players respect him
as long as bears keep winning games anything is possible
always believe

07 Dec 2017 22:06:16
I reckon mcinnes couldn't handle the pressure at rangers, he knew a few bad results and he woulda been out the door.

08 Dec 2017 01:21:26
fod
he was never offered the job didn't speak to gers after approach he spoke to his mrs n decided too much pressure so declined to speak to us
he is honest will regret it one day that is for sure

07 Dec 2017 21:38:55
Why not go for Chris Robertson of Motherwell he young and not scared of the Celtic

07 Dec 2017 21:46:30
Sick of the negative press over the appointment of a manager - surely obvious to everyone that the board were ensuring resolution 11 was going to be passed prior to making any decision on the manager . Once passed this gave the board the guarantee of funds available to pay any compensation. No surprise the recruitment started in earnest the day after!
I feel the board were scared to make another mistake and Mcinnes seemed to be the obvious safe choice!

On to mcinnes - this is the second time he has rejected a move to a bigger club. This tells you a lot about him as an individual - lack of self belief and no ambition.
I honestly believe we have dodged a Bullet - our interim manager has shown over the last two games that mcinnes will be lucky to finish 4 th this season.
Finally I would love to see gio in charge - knows the club, great contacts and currently doing well. If not then give Neil McCann a chance, great with the press / media knows the club and doing a decent job at Dundee

08 Dec 2017 01:24:07
nail on head wi del
gio be interesting
u let urself down wi mc cann

08 Dec 2017 09:34:37
I posted 10 days ago. Murty to be manager till end of season. Mike ashley to take control of Rangers next year after sale of Newcastle. now no doubt Murty will get the job and depending on how he does he may remain as manager that is till mike ashley takes over. Mciness lost two in a row to Murty. RANGERS HAVE DODGED A BULLIT. Murty will do as well as anyone

07 Dec 2017 21:33:02
Look at it this way, del has a good life well payed no hassles and no real targets because its the 🐑 🐑, easy life compared to what he'd be coming in for here, very scrutinised life constant pressure from all corners, better paid yip but would it be worth it also messed about by our board to be fair if he was the 1st choice it was poorly handled, you can see why he would knock it back, i'm suprised i must admit but we need somebody who wants to succeed and can under the pressure .
Who's next who knows but hopefully lesson learned on this one.

07 Dec 2017 22:20:28
Agreed. I don’t think he was first choice tbh because surely the board would’ve went for him within the first week. The worrying thing to me is if we can’t get McInnes then who can we get 😕 folk need to stop saying De Boer and Gio because it’s never going to happen if the board can’t pay them substantial wages and then back them with funds for players as well. Sadly it’ll probably be McLeish

08 Dec 2017 09:32:05
Serial bottler imo. Dodged a bullet big time. Murty at least until the end of the year. Happy with that. Let's kick on and see if we can claw back on the mhanks.

07 Dec 2017 21:27:27
Regular reader, first time poster.

When I heard about DM was not up or down which to me says it all. Who's next? To me and I do not expect everyone to agree but for me it is Tommy Wright.

Strong character, I think tactically better than DM. Sane amount if trophies with a worse team and half the budget as DM.

Murty is a safe pair if hands and if was to stay on I would have no complaints.

Expect to disagreement but here are my views, discuss?

07 Dec 2017 21:04:25
There is various factors why mcinnis mite not have joined but for me we the fans really need step up and back watever manager the club now decide to chose regardless if we like them or not
As for the board they now have a big choice to make on who to back any new manager will be asking a lot if questions of the board after this debacle

07 Dec 2017 21:02:59
I'm glad dm ain't coming, let's go for Potter and reid, if not Steve Clark or Michael o'neil.

07 Dec 2017 22:19:44
Mcleish or tommy wright

08 Dec 2017 01:25:28
tommy wright
wot?

07 Dec 2017 20:55:37
Clearly DM not the one for us. In his comfort zone . Hope he continues to do a good job at Aberdeen although fighting for 3rd place will be his aim from now on. Not a lot of ambition there. Me. More upset Jack appeal turned down. But it was obvious it would be. The committee could hardly rescind a 3rd time or it would make our referees look incompetent.

07 Dec 2017 21:25:58
Our refs are doing a good job of that themselves.

07 Dec 2017 20:53:41
Glad to be fair I think we have dodged a bullet with Mcinnes if he got the job would have backed him.

Who's the next manager then?

Jack Ross for me I said it not to long ago and think he along with the way the club are going Director of Football etc. Could be a great long term manager.

Gets his team's playing good football and isn't afraid to have ago. Might not be everyone's 1st choice but I think he should be in the running.

07 Dec 2017 21:14:17
AGB. Agree we dodged a bullet. He was not the answer. I think half the support have same opinion going by polls earlier in week. Jack Ross is a good shout but lacks top level experience and would be another risk. Team up murty and someone experienced (ie mcleish) to end of season and take it from there. Its the obvious answer.

07 Dec 2017 21:19:47
I wanted McInnes but think he saw the extra stress it would bring and bottled it.

Murtys got to get it and I have faith he will do a good job.

Jack Ross is a very promising looking manager but would be a massive step to a club this size

07 Dec 2017 21:27:58
Jack ross is a great shout.

08 Dec 2017 01:27:20
AGB
All due respect jack ross long term
stopping 10
think about it

08 Dec 2017 09:35:58
If you cast your mind back to last season.

Celtic v st. mirren

St. mirren literally had them on the ropes.

Brendan Rodgers said its the best team celtic had played all season.

Jack Ross. Great shout

07 Dec 2017 20:18:53
Whatever you may think of McInees as a manager he's off the menu for better or worse

Bottom line he had the chance to manage his team and he's passed it by all the best too you

Now to matters at hand I must assume and it's not something I like to do however the director of football was to draft up a shortlist of managers, Derek being at the top of that list is now one down so this man with the fancy title of Director of football must have other candidates so i should see movement soon on that front?

07 Dec 2017 20:46:24
I really hope we do not turn to McLeish the football he plays is awful, Wilkins has got his own personal demons he need to conquer so do not want him involved in any capacity. Barry Ferguson is a Ned again don’t want him near the team . Alex Neil from Preston would be my choice, if he would be interested. What a shambles, we continually give our enemies so much ammunition. Why pull the trigger on Pedro if you do not have a replacement sounded out and lined up . groundhog day

07 Dec 2017 21:17:31
I'm lead to believe that Alex Neil is one of them and hasn't done anything in the game in terms of winning trophies

Personally De Boer . Won titles in his home land knows the club I don't think he would come however as we play in a poor league he needs to rebuild his managerial career but and if imagine he would have the same sort of budget he was working with at Ajax

07 Dec 2017 22:11:21
Didn't want Maccinis but I would have gave him my full backing but think we've dodged a bullet. He never had the stomach for to boss his boyhood team he's better staying where he is.

08 Dec 2017 01:30:45
alex neil
I v got more chance lol

07 Dec 2017 20:18:39
only serious contenders left now De Boer, McLeish, Michael ONeil, Tommy Wright and Stuert McCall

flip a coil and cross fingers.

08 Dec 2017 01:32:03
Walter
Maybe shock us all

08 Dec 2017 09:26:23
And Graeme Murty?

07 Dec 2017 20:07:44
If Murty gets the job i'd like to see Walter come in as an advisor and Wilkins as assistant.

Think he will need experience and strength around him.

He's been great but I get the feeling he's too used to taking kids and would need to toughen up in the long run, if its his team.

07 Dec 2017 20:47:55
shark, you are the least funny tim on this forum and that's really saying something.

07 Dec 2017 20:03:19
Frank de boer next manager of rangers 100% gonney happen now has to be done now

08 Dec 2017 08:31:30
Franks no eastenders anymore haha lol 😂

07 Dec 2017 19:45:50
This paves the way for mcleish, I don't know why the board are being foolish pursuing mcinnes in the first place, he is tryijg to cover his bad results by knocking back clubs and staying at aberdeen, hoping for a cult hero status. Clown.

07 Dec 2017 19:42:05
Ecstatic never wanted him in the first place no ambition so glad!

07 Dec 2017 20:06:31
I am also happy he is knocked it back too dodged a bullet big time

07 Dec 2017 19:38:11
Don't know where we go from here. The board appointed Pedro which was a disaster and how they made that decision is beyond me!
I think Stuart Robertson has a lot to answer for and I certainly don't want Billy Davies, Alex McLeish or the usual dross.
Murty has done well but untested and not my choice. It's like going back to the 1980's when Fergie and McClean rejected us!
Rangers are an institution and under the present regime we are going backwards. Sorry for being so negative but God only knows where we go from here. 😣.

07 Dec 2017 19:47:09
big eck in and get this gap closed.

07 Dec 2017 19:52:27
It’s simple imac we need to find a suitable manager who can man manage players well, coach them to be better than they currently are and get young players in the first team squad. The recruitment process stinks, how on earth it tool six weeks to come up with one of the most average managers in Scotland is beyond me.

The upshot is, we have an opportunity to get someone better so let’s get the finger out Mark Allen and get someone that us fans deserve!

07 Dec 2017 22:05:18
Totally agree! Should leave selection to Mark Allen. Hopefully DK won't stay on his ranch in South Africa. I hope Walter Smith has some say or they ask for his opinion. It's easy to say give it to Murty but let him coach U20 team and his time will come.
We should have gone for DM before Pedro. Can anyone explain why we appointed a coach who won a league in Mexico! Was it Robertson or Park who made that choice? My question is where do we go next and will the board be honest and not sugar coat why DM refused the job?

07 Dec 2017 19:31:09
After all the shocks we've had this past 5-8 years i don't know why tonights new should surprise me but i'm genuinely shocked!

07 Dec 2017 19:16:05
Best result of the season for the Teddy Bears. McInnes staying with the SS.
We can do so much better.

07 Dec 2017 19:48:09
Buddy I agree. Mcleish for me. This board don't have a clue about football.

07 Dec 2017 20:07:13
Frank de boer for me

08 Dec 2017 01:41:06
to all fellow bears
I just joined this evening so probably sent repetitive messages trying to work out if I am on lol and I have had a few bevs
love u all
always believe

08 Dec 2017 09:21:34
Get on the phone to Eck now!

07 Dec 2017 19:11:46
I wonder what promises Milne has made to McInnes to possibly sway the balance back in Aberdeen favour or is it just the state our club has been in the past few years or possibly when he sat and thought about it he decided he couldn't handle the expectation and pressure of being manager or Rangers him deciding to stay at Aberdeen says to me he's happy being 2nd best but in my opinion and I said this a few years ago I think Stevie Clark with mabey Ian Ferguson as his assistant would have been the ideal fit for our club I first said this when McCoist went on gardening leave.

07 Dec 2017 20:44:53
Basically, his boss told him what he probably already knew. He's not Rangers material, he would be found out sooner rather than later, and finish up at Albion Rivers.

08 Dec 2017 09:22:21
Couldn't care less tbh

07 Dec 2017 19:02:18
The whole story has been farical. The papers have made the majority of the noise regarding the new Manager and we only approached mcinnes this week at least now we still have a man in murty who seems to be getting the better out of the team get Wilkins in with jj and murty and play like we have and we will be ok. Most important thing now is beating ross county the same way we beat aberdeen. Simple

07 Dec 2017 20:00:45
Totally agree GJ21, I hope this doesn’t distract the squad and we pick up where we left off last week with the same intensity, desire and quality!

Important to note for all who championed McInnes that you were willing to accept it was understandable for his team to go off the boil while the speculation was rife over his future so let’s hope you cut Graeme Murty the same slack after an eventful week.

For what it’s worth I think we’ll win on Saturday! Moan’ the Gers!

08 Dec 2017 01:47:36
GJ
winning team all that matters
good shout wee butch

07 Dec 2017 19:01:02
OH Dear what can the matter be
your team has no manager for Saturday.

07 Dec 2017 19:36:18
Frank De Boer come on down.

07 Dec 2017 19:38:00
Au contraire Timmy bhoy. Mr Murty will bring home 3 in a row. Now pipe down and show us how to get humped in europe again

07 Dec 2017 19:39:08
Well Tim, now you'll have even more to talk about with your imaginary friends :)

08 Dec 2017 01:53:41
europes invisibles

08 Dec 2017 09:36:06
Oh well, your imaginary club can't seem to attract a manager. The only thing that's "going on down" is the moral in your camp. Oh how we laughed.

07 Dec 2017 18:59:49
All is good. We have plenty coaches arguably better than DM who have shown an interest. One league cup is all DM has to show, and he would not attract top players to the club. DeBoer or Gio Van B for me!

07 Dec 2017 18:58:58
Walter Smith adviced dm not to take the job

07 Dec 2017 18:58:15
I would like to see Rangers move for GVB now. Need a manager who not only can do a job but also attract some good or young potential players with the contacts he has.

07 Dec 2017 18:54:38
I would love it Murty til end of the season and to get close to that other mob across the city and mabey even a few good results against them think we'll easily get 2nd now with Murty I wasn't in favour or Miners anyway but wouldve backed him if he'd took the job.

07 Dec 2017 19:02:12
Wasn't the biggest fan of Derek Mc Innes to take over at Ibrox. Not sure what will happen now, will it be Murty till the end of the season or will they go for someone else? Who would they approach when the target would know they were not first choice. Have they other irons in the fire. Does not bode well but follow follow

07 Dec 2017 19:04:51
Totally agree tommy. Give Murts job with some support whether that be alex rae, ferguson till the end of season . spend the money in window that we would have given to mcinnes. Managers will become available between now and then
We ain't going to win the league but 2 decent signings in window ( maybe more with shunting out a couple especially herrera) could secure 2nd and a stab at cup

07 Dec 2017 19:53:27
You’re saying who would take the job now as they would be 2nd choice. McInness was 2nd choice after Pedro don’t forget. Wasn’t the biggest fan of McInness but like most of the guys on here would have supported him. I live in Aberdeen and when I left work this evening all the sheep were totally pi55ed off losing twice and then their manager follow follows. Already had a few texts patting themselves on the back. Great you’ve kept the guy who just lost you two in a row to the Bears. Murty gets my vote to end of season with an experienced pair of eyes to help in the transfer window. But should be obvious that Moult should be our target.

08 Dec 2017 02:00:40
murty with eck doing mark allens woteva that is
take stock
win at hole league is on
always believe

07 Dec 2017 18:47:57
Hope the board now come out with some kind of statement to let us supporters what's happening now ie Murty till end of season or move on to next target and get them in soon.

08 Dec 2017 02:02:58
wots wrong wi GM

08 Dec 2017 02:04:45
give GM job try get
eck or walter to be in background
anything is possible
god, helicopter sunday
greatest
always believe

07 Dec 2017 18:43:20
Mcinness no more, I said two days ago that he is a bottler and be assured we have been given a lucky break, he knocked back Rangers for the same reason he knocked back Sunderland, he is set in his ways at Aberdeen, he definitely looked at the risks he was taking either going to Sunderland or to us, and the risk was he could have become a nobody if he accepted the posts. and I think he knew the jobs were to big for him and I'm sure he knew that it would of been hard to win over most of the supporters, yes some loyal supporters wanted him but it's time to move on, I'm not sure who we will go for now, however what really is the rush as Murty is doing a job for us, the players are warm to him, enjoy playing for him, I honestly feel that destiny has played a part and that we will benefit from DM's knockback, it is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about as we may never know the true reason DM decided this. We are Rangers and bigger than this, now is the time to show and prove your loyalties to our record breaking club and let every other team hear our voices and our love for a club that has given us and our forefathers so much.

07 Dec 2017 18:56:11
The board al ready said they don't won't a new temp manager murty or anyone else this was a long term plan so surley they have plan b
For me its unfair on murty what happens if he loses 2 games on bounce again we will all be raging at the board for not apointing a new manager

07 Dec 2017 19:27:29
Who is plan B? Mcinnes wasn't my preference. we didn't even get a chance to speak wi him so he obviously don't want it/ can't handle it. FINE. we move on. NO MAN IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB!

08 Dec 2017 02:15:37
No plan B
right guy be there we will get there
bit of patience guys
like meeting a girl u know the one lol
hopefully bears don't find out that's the wrong one lol

08 Dec 2017 09:15:04
Mediocre manager decides to remain in wee parochial comfort zone. Best of luck to him, onwards Rangers and Mr Murty.

07 Dec 2017 18:42:35
Our club is a complete mess from top to bottom getting knocked back by another spl manager that is a new low
Our club has tain to far long that's why mcinnis has decided not to come to much mucking about has cost us the boards number 1 target

07 Dec 2017 19:19:07
Board have made a hash of things again, whose going to want to take it now!

08 Dec 2017 02:24:00
Craig

always believe

07 Dec 2017 18:40:42
DM has just evidenced what a lot of supporters have been saying. doesn't have the bottle to be a big game player. Hope you enjoy the position of manager of small provincial club.

07 Dec 2017 18:40:35
Just shows you the guys got no bottle scared to go to Sunderland and now us . he's happy underachieving up in the North he never even spoke to us apparently ah well onwards and upwards bears.

07 Dec 2017 18:37:48
Well he'll have to wave bye bye to ever being rangers manager now as he'll never be offered the job again. Enjoy 3rd place Derek.

07 Dec 2017 18:37:04
Glad Dom hasn't signed, not good enough for us.

07 Dec 2017 18:36:43
I was definitely in the camp of wanting McInnes as Manager. But he has decided not to come back to Ibrox. So let's move on what is important now is do the board have a list of names or back up plan. I'm not so sure. Anyway only thing certain is McInnes will never be asked again. Good luck to him but the McInnes/ Rangers story has ended. Time for strong leadership and transparency from the board. Will we get it?

07 Dec 2017 18:40:31
To be fair i'm not suprised, there must of been something that's happened tonight, fair play to him he's got a cushy wee number up there and maybe just didn't want or couldn't handle the pressure that comes with being our boss

07 Dec 2017 18:44:57
This is getting farcical now. The Board are inept. McInnes turning down Rangers, then there must be something wrong big time. Milne must know something about King.

Most embarrassing and being made a laughing stock by our own board yet again.

07 Dec 2017 19:06:51
tommie you are beginning to sound like one of the mhank mob with your conspiracy theories leave that to them over there, wait till the facts come out before jumping to conclusions, i would not trust milne anymore than i would king

07 Dec 2017 18:30:59
Murty until the end of the season seems like the best option now. I am now a bit concerned about the calibre of manager we will attract. If DM was our first choice over say Frank De Boer and has now knocked us back why would FDB or manager of similar stature even talk to us now. They will probably just tell us to shove it as they weren't first choice in the first place.

Im only using FDB as an example here. I don't actually think he was ever a possibility.

08 Dec 2017 09:17:01
Why does everybody see it as Murty until the end of the year and not Murty as permanent manager on a three year contract? That's what they would have offered McInnes, they both have the same coaching badges, Murty is currently winning our players over, his tactical changes have been both refreshing and rewarding and he won't cost us a million quid which can go to the transfer budget. Meanwhile, McInnes retreats into his wee shell where he's comfortable with zero expectations on him. His bottle was crashing at the thought of being Rangers manager before he was even spoken to.

07 Dec 2017 18:22:56
Maybe this news will convince the DM brigade that he was trying like hell to turn over Rangers over the two games and failed miserably. Do we really need this calibre of manager?

07 Dec 2017 18:31:24
No we don’t Seeker, the man is entitled to make his decision but IMO he and his team were never worth it!

07 Dec 2017 18:20:40
Dodged a cannonball never mind a bullet

07 Dec 2017 18:27:58
I have to say I'm shocked that he has turned down Rangers. . absolutely shocked. What worries me now is why? Did we take too long? Would we not bring all his staff? Do we not have the funds for players ? He is Rangers daft so this sends alarm bells for me. Ahh well. at least most of the people on here will be happy. Not me. he was by far the best candidate.

08 Dec 2017 09:15:30
Aye Mcinnis did. Rangers the laughing stock just keeps on rolling. 😂

07 Dec 2017 18:20:12
Murty must be given the job until the end of the season. Wouldn't be shocked to see this saga pick up again in the summer where it has left off. The board have simply left it too late. For Now!

08 Dec 2017 09:18:35
I like Murty but not enough experience for me

07 Dec 2017 18:20:08
See how he feeling tomorrow night after the sheep get pumped.

07 Dec 2017 18:14:05
Wonder who else we had on the shortlist if McInnes was 1st choice dredd to think!?

07 Dec 2017 18:24:32
We dodged a bullet with McInness knocking us back. A bit embembarrassing, but I'll take that all day long for the prospect of a better manager. Onwards and upwards.

07 Dec 2017 18:44:01
I agree, it’s hard to see it just now and I’ve no idea how long it will take but one day we will be back at the top and McInnes will be doing an Owen Coyle and taking the job at Ross County or the like!

Onwards and Upwards!

07 Dec 2017 18:12:41
Our board need to have a serious look at themselves. They said it had taken this long because they wanted to get it right yet the guy they had lined as their No1 choice has knocked us back. What a joke. We will end up with McLeish now as he is the only person available who will do it.

07 Dec 2017 18:12:32
Oh dear.

So who next?

07 Dec 2017 18:11:22
Let DM rot up there with the sheep. He has burnt his boats and is no longer welcome in my opinion. Onward and upward and he will have to live with this.

07 Dec 2017 18:11:17
Best result of the season for the Teddy Bears. McInnes staying with the SS.
We can do so much better.

07 Dec 2017 18:11:13
Mcinnes not coming because we don't want ( to pay for ) his entire back room staff.

07 Dec 2017 18:07:20
Mcinnes was never the answer. Still don't understand how the board took 6 weeks to approach him. He was never good enough. Half the support didn't want him anyway. His record in the big games is shocking. Found his level at the sheep. Get murty and mcleish to the end of the season then re-assess

07 Dec 2017 18:05:23
All the mcinnes haters will be happy now please give murty the job until the summer.

07 Dec 2017 18:11:17
Been told its cause rangers didn't want take his assistant so mcinness knocked it back

07 Dec 2017 18:13:21
Nobody hated DM, maybe they didn't want him as first choise as manager, well that's entirely different.

08 Dec 2017 02:33:29
facts
wee del a bear
never to spoke to anyone at gers
spoke to his mrs and decided he didnae want pressure esp on hs family
he honest n I respect that n so do his pals superally n barry f disnae make him a bad person move on

07 Dec 2017 18:05:06
I'm Glad he's not coming

07 Dec 2017 18:04:28
well Mcinnes does not want the job, i never wanted him and the fact that he knocked back Sunderland and THE RANGERS just shows me that we are lucky not to get him as he is obviously happy to be an also ran.

08 Dec 2017 02:37:24
at no point did del say he wanted gers job he nipped it in the bud several times
personally not for him
never spoke to gers at any point

07 Dec 2017 17:56:44
Mcinnes to stay stv website.

07 Dec 2017 18:06:43
Ffs. he has turned us down. All you DM haters will be delighted. What an embarrassing mess. The board are useless

07 Dec 2017 18:07:17
What a blunder mcinnes has just made. he will never get offered the job ever again

07 Dec 2017 18:29:57
Don't really follow your logic there. Because the person the Board has decided to negotiate with has decided to stay where he is?

You are easily embarrassed.

Also, fed up with all the people who are demanding, action, statements, answers etc. Some folks have allowed their frenzy to be fuelled by media who could not find a story in a library.

08 Dec 2017 02:41:55
hysteria got to calm down man
wee del a gers man
his family set up dictated he can't be under that pressure of gers job and he was honest so fair play
different time maybe let the man get on wi easy life he wants

08 Dec 2017 09:13:20
Murty til the end of the season hopefully

07 Dec 2017 17:45:16
Mcinnes has knocked back rangers that is the latest rumour

07 Dec 2017 17:42:26
I wish they would hurry up with this DM carry on. Been watching SSN all afternoon only to keep hearing the same old rubbish over and over again. Surely it's just a case of do you want to stay in Aberdeen yes/ no.

07 Dec 2017 15:02:43
Derek mcinnes can do himself a massive favour all he has to do it beat celtic in the new year game and we will build a statue for the man!

07 Dec 2017 16:30:11
better make it with ice then cause he won't last pissing time

07 Dec 2017 17:59:54
Ssn saying he's knocked back the job what a fud if true!

07 Dec 2017 14:24:01
Personally I couldn't care less if our new manager was Pope Francis with the Archbishop of Canterbury as his assistant.
I just want us back winning titles and cups, hearing the CL music bursting out the Ibrox tannoy.
We are where we are and McInnes is about the best available candidate around.
Who else would be suitable or available to take this role that knows our club and our expectations.
The last two managers were just not up to it, I thought Pedro was a good guy and wish he had made it, it just wasn't the job for him.

07 Dec 2017 14:39:07
Mcleish. Lots of managers but it comes down to the board. Anyhow I believe derek mcinnes will help us win the league.

07 Dec 2017 16:52:40
I think the pope is quite tactically naive and can’t handle big pressure situations, it’s a no from me

07 Dec 2017 17:24:01
Apparently he is a great believer in crossing balls

08 Dec 2017 09:06:17
Mcleish won't get another job in football management, his career is over. Appreciate what he done but hiring him would be mental!

08 Dec 2017 09:10:58
I get all the arguments for appointing dm ie longest winning run since alex ferguson ect but for me personally i don't rate him. The way i look at it what revelent experience does he have outside scotland. How will he attract that's a wee bit special players that can tip the balance. His main knowledge is scottish football and we all know that if we only shop in that market we have no chance of catching smeltic. His record in big meaningful games is terrible and that's not just against us and smeltic.

All i can say is that if Brenda left smeltic and they appointed dm would you be full of hope and think that we have a better chance of stopping 10 n row or would you be like that's it we are going to struggle to stop 10 n row and catch smeltic or shorten the gap

07 Dec 2017 14:02:31
Statistics that are both historical and compiled at 2 provincial clubs. There was a lot going on behind the scenes at the mighty Bristol City when he was there. From where Aberdeen were and how he has left them tells the true story of what he has achieved there. Big Eck? With all due respect to the man and the successes he had with us, this shows your post in its true light. Sorry mate, but its guff

07 Dec 2017 15:03:21
What about Walter Smith? Who was he before he took over as manager? Look what he done.

07 Dec 2017 15:21:54
My post above was reply to united kingdom's post -must not have hit the reply button

07 Dec 2017 13:34:49
I really can't believe that we are going for dm its shows a complete lack of ambition from the board.

What input has our director of football had into this decision.

D Mcinnes record against the gers and the unclean St Johnstone played 16 lost 14 won 2
Aberdeen played 21 lost 15 won 6

Sacked by bristol city

Season 2015 had the chance to go top on 5 separate occasions to put pressure on the celtic lost or drew on each occasion handing the league to deila celtic

Has been competed 7 cups reached final in 3 won 1 lost 2

European record never made it out of third qualifying round.

After looking at these records when it comes to big games his teams have consistently been beaten.

Rangers in my opinion should give murty or big eck the job till end of the season use the comp money to purchase d john l moult walker and the young under 21 guy lewis.

07 Dec 2017 13:45:58
Why doesn't anyone get it. MURTY doesn't WANT IT and he's not a Manager and Mcleish is going backwards. Who else would want it because if u think Van Bronkhurst, De Boer etc would come your delusional!

07 Dec 2017 13:55:35
Are you taking into account player budget? And what did Walter Smith achieve before becoming our most successful manager?

07 Dec 2017 14:37:36
It's easy to make somebody look bad when you are selective with facts and figures, here are a few more:

- Longest winning run in Aberdeen's managerial history, better than Sir Alex, at the very least a decent achievement with such a small budget and consider the team Sir Alex had.

- 58% win ratio with Aberdeen, a team the fraction of the budget of Celtic (and Rangers last season) .

- Took over st Bristol City who were bottom of the Championship, went on an 8 game unbeaten run that kept them in the Championship, was not backed financially due to problems at the club and was sacked the following season.

- Ran Celtic to the title 3 games away from the end of the season, I don't know about you but i'd take that this season in a heartbeat? Considering we can't string 3 wins together. yet.

I could go on but time is precious. Adios.

07 Dec 2017 14:47:24
I must admit i feel content on del being our boss, he actually done well with the sheep and some of the signings and money he done well on the budget, no way was he ever going to challenge them but as before i eeckon he'll do us a good turn and has got my backing

07 Dec 2017 16:38:00
Only one derek mcinnes MON THE RANGERS

08 Dec 2017 09:05:31
g4rry Walter wasn't a mediocre manager for ten years before coming to us. You can't 'achieve' something if you're not in that job. McInnes has been at it for a decade and got nowhere.

07 Dec 2017 13:39:39
Why are we disappointed in McInnes appointment, who did u realistic think would want the job. He's done a great job with no funds, did u realistically believe he has to win the league with Aberdeen before he's classed as good enough for us. Ppl keep going on about Murty, he didn't ever want the job and as much as I like him he'd be another huge gamble.
Get behind McInnes if he's given it, he's a Rangers man afterall isn't that what u all wanted!

07 Dec 2017 14:35:44
Hes also had no competition for 2nd place the last 3 seasons.

08 Dec 2017 09:07:26
he had competition from us last season, and he still managed a comfortable second on about a third of the budget. short memory ya numpty.

07 Dec 2017 13:18:25
Sky sports reporting confirmation on future of Mcinnes by end of day #donedeal welcome back to the most success club in the world Derek. Here's hoping you can take us forward.

07 Dec 2017 16:24:04
How could he possibly take forward "the worlds most successful club"?

07 Dec 2017 12:53:34
I understand the debate as to whether Derek McInnes is the man for us.

I can understand this as I'm unsure myself and can see both sides of the argument. One one hand he doesn't hold the ideal amount of experience but he is a bluenose and knows the scottish game etc.

The things I think we have ALL lacked recently is confidence (after the past few years who could) and a leader we can trust/ respect.

A quote from an Aberdeen fan rep today summed up how they feel about him:

"Derek has given us success, respectability and a sense of pride. "

I think we need this staunchness and solidity as much as we need a left winger!

07 Dec 2017 12:07:55
I've tried and tried but can't find it in my heart to support the appointment on Mcinnes and Doherty
As a lifelong bluenose that pains me but in life can anyone truthfully say they can back something that don't believe in i just can't see how he will benefit us our levels of expectation are way beyond what he's used to and I can see him throwing a hissy fit when media crank it up
For us to be paying reportedly £1M staggers me plus I'm sure he will be given budget for January. I may be proven wrong but I think this is another elastoplast fix and I can see us going through this again within a year.

07 Dec 2017 12:57:33
Respect your right to feel this way, dlc, but I think you underestimate their potential, and ultimately I think you will be proved wrong, though I appreciate none of us can say for certain. However, I do think you should be prepared to give them a chance, &reel your negativity in a bit. It helps no one; particularly you, going by the tone of your fatalistic post. Stay positive mate; you are in a win win situation. If it how's well, a successful Rangers; if it doesn't, then you get to say I told you so.

08 Dec 2017 09:01:21
Similar feelings Dlc but l will get behind our new gaffer 100%. But l do understand some fans reservations
Let's go Gers

08 Dec 2017 09:08:37
Walter Smith and Big Eck never had experience of Rangers level before becoming manager, both done great

07 Dec 2017 11:26:32
Under 20's boss and shinnie doing Aberdeen press conference today. McInnes and Docherty not taking training either. Expect announcement today. The latter 2 mentioned are our new management team. I, for one, wish them all the good fortune in the world.

07 Dec 2017 11:51:20
Interesting Development and I hope this is all confirmed today so we can move on and get going ASAP. Also now that Pedro is back at a rich club in Mexico and his belief over the years that Pena and Herrera were very very good footballers, I wonder if he will come in and try and buy them back in January? I would say Aye we will take 8M for them both Pedro - seen as you pissed your budget up the wall on most signings (not all)

07 Dec 2017 11:20:26
If McInnes joins us today we must all get right behind him. He wasn't my preferred choice and I still have doubts but let's give him a chance. I feel sorry for Murty but Maybe McInnes will give him a first team coaching role? McInnes may well continue to give the younger players a chance. I remember the McCoist days and that he never, ever gave the kids a chance, too obsessed with winning the Petrofac Cup. Bates, Wilson, Beerman and McCrorie have all shown they deserve a chance.

07 Dec 2017 15:05:21
Murty must be kept in his job with the youngsters, if it is DM coming in then he will surely see what an excellent job Murty has done there, and he must be allowed to carry on, hopefully there's a few more lads there bound for the first team!

07 Dec 2017 11:11:30
If McInnes is appointed today, all fans should get behind him. All other candidates like Sam Allerdice were far too expensive and McInnes is the sensible choice.
He knows the league and our players inside out and should be welcomed to come in and close the gap on Celtic which we badly need.

07 Dec 2017 11:24:11
I think even you could have afforded Sam Allerdice. I see him shuffling up my street daily. Sure a wee top up to his pension credit would have been very welcome.

07 Dec 2017 13:01:19
hes on 6mil a year now at everton - was never an option

07 Dec 2017 08:07:49
I for one will welcome Mcinnes as manager because I am excited to see who he brings in as transferrs or moult, Mclean and Walker he also has an eye for the younger generation which showed with the young lad Ross who came on and scored against us on Sunday.

07 Dec 2017 09:12:27
He's a decent manager and done well with Aberdeen. His head has been in the rangers job for weeks hence Aberdeen down fall! Only a few weeks ago people were saying we need to get a manger in asap after the Hamilton and dundee games and that Murty doesn't have what it takes.

We beat Aberdeen twice (as we should? ) and everyone is saying Murty til the end of the season and mciness is no good. Unbelievable

07 Dec 2017 09:41:33
Moult and cadden are only targets I'd be looking at from league

07 Dec 2017 09:43:14
Whoever is rangers manager has my full support. Will always wish and hope for the best after the journey we have been on the last 5 years.

It’s hard being a rangers fan the last few years but we need to stick together.

Ally - took a lot of rubbish and stuck by us through the bad times. Always be a legend.

Warns - always had his eye on the door, using ya as platform.

Pedro - admitted mistake however I think there are decent players in some of those he brought in.

DM - if it’s to be then, so be it. Will back him. Maybe even get the best out of what we have and add a few more quality players.

Realistically whoever was in charge this season. The target was second and a lot less of a gap to them. It’s still not out of reach to win the league. We can only hope.

We need the good times back. A lot of work to be done yet.

08 Dec 2017 08:56:16
After his display on sunday i’m not sure i want Kenny McLean anywhere near ibrox, he was bloody woeful!
