Agreed. We have been the same for as long as I remember. The favourites are unlucky when they make a mistake but when the scapegoats do it a lot of the stadium is up in arms calling for the lads head and telling the whole world how sh! te they are. How’s about just backing the team for once?

I concur, Morelos has lots of potential, good work rate, strong and holds it up well. The thing is how long are decent young players going to hang around when half of our support slate them, so when clubs come sniffing they will just go because they are sick of the constant criticism. I know where people are coming from mentioning the sitters he missed, but you never know he could be top scorer again this season and people will still want rid of him, we can't even afford a 35 year old Defoe so I don't see how we can get better than Morelos.

Sorry I don't agree with this second business. SG is obviously building a team for victory. Looking at dark side they have done nothing of note to improve. We have and by some margin. SG hasn't done this for second and SC. I want it all.

I think its time EVERY rangers fan, not only boycott every sports direct store, but protest outside their stores . The only way to get the fat man to drop this issue, is to hurt him in the pocket . Hopefully the fan groups could organise this . Get it massive media coverage, hundreds of fans outside every store . If someone can organise it, ill be there at braehead or silverburn! Me and the wee man have waited to long for a strip now!

Thought team had brilliant dig. mcorrie and Aldridge were excellent . fighting for every ball . even windass upped his game a notch regarding effort . more of the same guys and we will be ok . alright only bury you say but still we showed heart and willingness . I for one am pleased and optimistic

Windass upped his game? I was there like I am every home game and some away games and I know a few here like him but I thought Windass was probably the poorest player we had last night! As for effort nah just nah and if we do get an offer of over £1.5 mill I'd bite the hand right off them! I for one don't think he has the fight as to what SG is looking for!

I thought Gouldson was organising the defence more than Tav! The new boy ( not going to try spell his name as I'll get roasted ) was very good on the ball! As much as I like Tav I don't think he's our captain and SG has announced he is but I like a CH as captain that sits and organises everything!

Only a few weeks ago, people were actually debating if fresh investment from this man would be a good thing. I think even ex players were backing it.

The man is toxic. Every single thing this man does is for personal gain and greed. Just look at the absolutely disgusting way he treats his staf.

He was more than happy to bleed us dry when we were at our most vulnerable.

King has his many faults but once he finally rids the club of the toxic influence of that vulture Ashley, then there’s no excuses. we will be in a much brighter place.

I don't know the ins and outs like most folk because I just see what I see online, but doesn't this thing just mean until the end of the month when the SD deal ends we can't sell the strips? Really pleased with the performance last night. Thought Katic and Goldson looked really good, at last we have an imposing centre half pairing who look comfortable with the ball at feet and composed defending overall particularly in the air. Thought our pressing higher up the pitch was good too, Arfield looks like a player who'll link our midfield and attack and McCrorie done a good job sitting deep and braking up play. A hood balance to our team and credit to the young lads who came on, particularly Middleton who did exactly what any good winger should do and beat his man and put the ball into dangerous areas in the box for his two assists. The tempo never dropped when we made changes which shows we have a hungry group of players all fighting for starts. Early days but encouraging signs.

You can only play against the team that’s up against you. It was good to see Gerrard still demanded a lot from the players even when they were 4 and 5 nil up. Another thing that I thought was positive was how Morelos and Docherty seemed to be getting along well after the carry on with them at the end of the season.

Arthur jeez man! Remember last season we played such a poor side and they put us out of Europe? We played well last night end of and as a previous poster said we can only beat what's in front of us but we did it well right across the park! I for one are seeing signs this early that there is fight there which we never had signs of at any point past few seasons! Yes I'm optimistic and yes I know they'll be ups and downs this season but can we not just agree as fans that last night we played well ( even after the influx of substitutions) and as time goes on with a few more additions the fight for places will only get better!

Too many people get carried away on here. The same was said about how good certain players were during pre season matches against Sheff Wed and Watford. People on here saying how great Cardoso was. Bury are in the 4th tier of English football and it’s nothing special to beat them. All I’m saying is for people not to get carried away. I don’t see what’s wrong with that?

The most encouraging thing about last night was we did exactly what we should be doing to teams like Bury and that's hammering them. Under previous managers the players would have went through the motions at 2/ 3 nil. Every player that started and came on kept the tempo Stevie G set and that shows something we've lacked for a few seasons now. hunger and discipline. Every fan knows the opposition is weak but that doesn't take away from the fact that signs are there that this squad has a new attitude under our new manager. Looks like every player has worked hard on fitness this pre season and are ready to compete with one and other for starting places this coming season

I would also like to add some praise to mark allan. He came here with a 5 year plan with one of the main focuses being on improving what's coming through murrey/ hummel acc. We are now 3 years into that plan and from what i can see there is at least 8 young lads that are startin to stake a claim for the first team. Even if only 2 or 3 of them make it how much cash will that save us and also gain us with their sell on value. The six i think have a great chance are middleton mccrorie burt wilson and barjones hardie
i think that last season pulling our youngsters out of scotland and allowing them to play against the cream of euro football was a master stroke from allan as our young ones will have learnt so much re tactics systems training ect hopefully we do the same this year as definitely the way forward.

Think we may have unearthed a wee gem in glen middleton recon he will be pushing hard for regular start if he can keep up that level of performance. Before i get all the disagrees I know it was only bury but what I've seen of him so far with scot u21 the boy has a bright future and so glad its with us.

Was also impressed with our defence and arty good show for only our second game back.

I've watched a good few U21 games and the two that stick out like sore thumbs are your boy Middleton and our lad Mickey Johnston.

As a Scotland fan I'm hoping both progress and although McRorie is already quality (I think most will agree more so in midfield atm) I'm hoping he matures into a beast of a CB that Scotland desperately need and we as a nation can put rivalries aside for tournaments like this world cup in future!

I cannot believe Norwich released that lad we have a young guy there who can play on both flanks and could be the natural successor to Murphy or Candieas and we got him for free never looked out of place always present in the action and got 2 assists

Lonj i never said morel and windy should be sold bud. i'm old enough to rem mccoist first couple of seasons and more recent big hately where they constantly missed chances and at times got bood by our fans both windy and morel as 2 young boys morel debut season 18 goals 9 assits windy similar stats. With better players round about them both will only get better imo.

Took my 2 young boys to their first game at Ibrox, hoping for a couple of goals and a decent atmosphere.

In agreement, it was a friendly but, it's been a while since even when the subs have been made, the energy levels are still high and on the front foot, so refreshing.

Some positives for me was firstly, the defence. Solid. Coped with everything well. Flanagan took a bit to get going, neat and tidy and grew into the game. Think John has some competition.
In the middle, I think mccrorie has so much potential to make that unglamorous roll that every team needs his own. Thought Murphy looks fitter. His tracking back was better. Arfield looked comfortable.

Whilst morelos was probably involved in 2 or 3 goals, I didn't get the feeling he'd kicked on through pre season. Similar feeling with windass.

We've improved, no doubt but, still 2 or 3 forward thinking 1st team signings short to challenge properly - plus backup.

I hope my boys look back at this match as the start of the road to success.

McCrorie will learn from Gerrard, we couldn't wish for a better mentor, but he will need support and ideally an old head on the park that can also further his development. Would also like to see Rossiter fit and playing a part in the team.

I have to say, I think mccrorie has the makings of a top midfielder.

Thought he had a great game tonight, and this could be a good season for him.
