Is Steven Naismith still suspended or is he dropped out of Norwich team tonight for a reason?

08 Aug 2017 22:27:09
Suspended

08 Aug 2017 20:55:17
Windass is due great credit for his start to the season and his pace, strength and skill have been excellent. Defensive lapse aside his first half performance at Fir Park was as good as anything Barrie McKay could produce. Needs to build on that now and become real player for rangers.

09 Aug 2017 11:39:16
He's had 1 good half of football in how many pre season games. Be different if 10 games in and he has produced the goods in both halfs. Plus his fault for goal in Luxembourg

08 Aug 2017 20:33:18
Think Naismith could be soon.
Don't know anybody's grannie just reading between the lines.

Not included in squad Sat or tonight and no mention of him in Managers injury update.

Working in Norwich this week and guys say doesn't suit Managers style of play.

08 Aug 2017 22:26:31
He was suspended for both games

08 Aug 2017 20:02:21
Can't believe the posts saying Miller has been given a free role in the team and drops back to midfield when he wants and support it. It sounds like Rooney and Man Utd last three seasons to me. He's either no.9 in the box or he's on the bench because he's useless in the middle of the park. At 38 this year we really need a centre forward peaking in his career. 3 points over sentimentality every day.

08 Aug 2017 21:04:09
Id take naismith in that role

09 Aug 2017 07:50:15
Defo take naismith

08 Aug 2017 19:11:51
So a lot of discussion on here about strikers. Herrera in particular. Perhaps the wise thing to do is to give them time. I can think of more than a few fantastic strikers from the past who were not great to begin with. unfortunately time is a commodity that most can't or won't accept.

08 Aug 2017 22:16:55
Remember back in the day, ibrox singing Hatley Hatley get tae .

08 Aug 2017 22:44:22
A lot of people are confidence driven and a good man manager is perfect for bringing that out in players, but when you have fans on players backs after a few games the confidence is naturally going to drop, get the songs made up for Herrera and Morelos lift these boys get right behind them, they are now part of the family and I am sure the rewards will return!

09 Aug 2017 02:40:38
I couldn't agree more, absolutely ridiculous some of the ignorant impatient stuff that gets spouted on here, and most likely by bams that have never played football or been outside Scotland or their wee town for that matter.
The guys have came to a difficult foreign environment, a new club, new teammates, new style of play, new culture, new language, new so called fans (or fannies, in some cases) give them a break and some encouragement, not naive, ignorance "supporters".! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‘βš½οΈβ€οΈπŸ†

09 Aug 2017 07:53:18
Tex, garner, ohal, waghorn etc came from the same culture etc and they couldn't play. what's your point mate?

08 Aug 2017 17:08:17
If Miller feels he needs to drop back to help out Midfield against Motherwell then we must alter our formation against the dammed!
IMO we need to play with Jack sitting in front, of tthe back 4 in a 4-1-4-1 or play with 5 across the middle.
Don't care what u want to call it but I think playing 4-4-2 is the wrong way to go!
Hate to say it but they are too strong in midfield IF we go 4-4-2 but if we match them, in numbers we can compete.
Team against the tic 4-1-4-1:
Fods.
Tavs. Alves. Cardoso. Wallace.
Jack.
Candieas. Dorrans. Windass. Walker.
Morelos.
When it comes to who we play up front it'll come down to who's in form come the time but no matter what we MUST change the formation or they will over run the midfield.
Would love to see Pena nxt to Dorrans in Midfield but need to wait and see?

08 Aug 2017 18:27:49
In reality it would be good to see Walker in the starting 11 so hopefully you know something we don't

08 Aug 2017 18:31:00
How deluded do you need to be to pick a team where there is a player that doesn't even play for you lol.

08 Aug 2017 18:51:32
Easy Tiger! i'm confident that Walker will be at Ibrox before the Window closes.
FFS! Deluded?

08 Aug 2017 19:05:24
Don't hung up on formations they can be adapted as in kenny dropping in makes it a five in middle or tav pushing on and Wallace coming in one makes it 352! straight 442 is what we should play against most teams our quality should dictate the game, however against celtic maybe away at Pittodrie I'd change it and go 451 it's a simple switch drop herrera for rossiter and leave Kenny up top! It's in kenny game now to play a free role which helped at times last season but he will have to be more disciplined this year to get best out of our system

08 Aug 2017 23:20:01
I never seen such hysteria over the signing of an average spfl player. It shows where you are.

09 Aug 2017 00:20:48
I sort of agree to a certain extent in what you're saying ray, but know what, that's where we are just now. Gone are the days of signing quality, let alone top quality.
Scottish football is being left behind and we are in no position to compete with England's third tier let alone the big boys down there. When a club like Brighton with no history can blow our teams out of the water with their spending power, you know our league is sunk.
When players would rather sign for a team in England with no ambition, just to play in England, rather than join a team with tradition, history and a chance to play in Europe like Rangers or Celtic then I think the writing is on the wall.
Walker may in your opinion be average but he's tried and tested in this league so if he wants to play for us then I say, come on ahead, you'll be made feel very welcome.
You guys have the bragging rights just now but this league has been getting worse year on year and the odd foray into Europe is what we all hope for now. So don't be getting your hopes up for any major signing from your team either because I don't see any superstars banging down your or our doors to get a game.
Just my honest opinion btw, nothing I've said is meant as bait or to ruffle feathers.

08 Aug 2017 16:39:40
Dunno why we are linked with Kenny mcclean Aberdeen won't sell him n we don't need him . we need to get walker and a striker in asap

08 Aug 2017 13:12:26
I can't believe someone has actually taken Senderos on again?

On another note, I don't think we should be forking out for Kenny MacLean.

No disrespect to the boy. He's not a bad player I'm just not seeing where he is going to fit with us.

If you consider our new 4-4-2 formation I can't see him having a position. Especially with (potentially) Walker, Windass, Kranjcar, Pena, Dorrans, Candeias all being capable of attacking mid. When you consider we have Jack, Rossiter and Holt also before even looking at back ups like Dalcio and Dodoo that 9 players for 4 positions.

We would be better spending cash elsewhere.

08 Aug 2017 13:32:05
I'm sure full back position is priority

08 Aug 2017 13:39:24
Tennar on Sendaros to get a touch down in his first football game in America.

08 Aug 2017 13:40:03
IMO weiss is the answer some one with real attacking threat and international class moult bolt walker will struggle

08 Aug 2017 13:51:24
I'd like to see Weiss too Broxi but how can you say walker would struggle? Look at the stats, personally I think he's the best player in the league outwith the old firm.

08 Aug 2017 14:16:17
McLean is a better player than Holt all day long and I've always been more impressed with him than Jack who is a great addition. He will provide great competition and depth to the squad. I'd have him before Walker if I'm honest. Rossiter I believe if a bid is made and is acceptable will be allowed to leave, he's homesick and not settled.

08 Aug 2017 15:23:29
LDM i agree regarding Rossiter.

McLean is a different player to Jack so I'm not going to compare them. He is a bit better than Holt but just look at how far down the pecking order Holt is.

The thing for me is in AM you already Have Kranjcar, Pena and Windass available. Combining that with the fact that Scottish clubs like to hold us to ransom and we will pay through the nose for him I just don't think its justified. No disrespect to him as a player.

08 Aug 2017 15:57:52
I do think Rossiter is a bit unsettled but I think this is purely because he has been on the sidelines for so long. If he gets a dozen games under his belt we will all be saying he is one of the first on the team sheet. He is a quiet but very effective player as he displayed in the opening games from last season, I genuinely believe if he had been fit all season we would have finished in second spot.

08 Aug 2017 15:58:03
Rossiter is a very good player who can play football. He has an eye for a pass and not scared of a tackle. You don't get to be captain of any England team if you not a good player. He may have some injury problems which is the big issue but I believe when he is fit he will shine

08 Aug 2017 17:19:16
Rossiter IS a good Player. In terms of selection Jack deserves to be 1st choice but Rossiter does need games.
Firstly tho I would like to know how his fitness is as he's been missing and there's been no updates?

08 Aug 2017 19:07:53
He did play under 20s at Nuneaton town tournament recently

08 Aug 2017 13:05:12
Perhaps someone can enlighten me. I havnt seen much of kenny mclean, is he any good? I can understand the pursuit of walker as he was in the top 6 spl scorers last season, but surely we don't need any more than 1 more midfielder. If u look at the top 6 or 7 leading scorers last year. Celtic had 3 of them, and we had none. So surely instead of 2 more midfielders we need a prolific goalscorer. someone like moult who was in the top 6 as well. We badly lack fire power as far as I can see and unless we bring in a 20 plus goalscorer i think we may as well forget the title here and now

08 Aug 2017 14:18:02
McLean is a better player than Jack IMO, 100% better than Holt and loves the club, IF Rossiter is allowed to leave then McLean is a fantastic signing. I'd have McLean before Walker all day long.

08 Aug 2017 17:55:23
McLean can play all across the midfield, even out wide same as dorrans can. Ok not a natural winger but he is a talented footballer and versatile.

08 Aug 2017 12:55:21
No matter what team it is, when you buy 10 new players it will be a certainty that not all of these players will settle straight away and also some will be better than others. Football is funny where sometimes the big signing is the one that doesn't shine. I'm hoping all of our players gel but I understand you don't get much time in the Glasgow fishbowl and can break some decent footballers. πŸ”΄βšͺοΈπŸ”΅.

08 Aug 2017 14:09:21
Kenny McLean will not be signing for us in this window he is a rangers fan and would sign for us in a heart beat but rangers haven't even made any contact with Aberdeen about buying him. On another note I would say that we need a right back, as far as Weiss goes I'm not sure if it would be a good signing or not

08 Aug 2017 14:19:24
Not true, contact was made it was rebuffed as Aberdeen were in Europe with them being out now I believe Aberdeen will NOT want to lose him for free and will cash in on him. Watch this space

08 Aug 2017 15:03:52
Yeah if McLean hasn't signed an extention to his contract then I'm sure the sheep will cash in they have too.
When does his contract end anyways?

09 Aug 2017 12:29:03
They don't need the money right now, they are quietly going about their business getting the players that they wanted without paying through the nose like us. They had a cash injection rumored to be between 6/ 7 million from a rich fan. They have no real debt so are under no financial pressure as far as the playing squad is concerned. They would sell McLean but only for stupid money and if they line up somebody else. It would take McLean to push for this or it isn't going to happen personally I think he's a good fit at Aberdeen and we should aim higher, if not then surely we should look at the second string before another player happy to play second fiddle.

08 Aug 2017 01:30:46
I see the ever positive section of our support have after ONE competitive game have managed to write off Herrera as a football player for our great club.

This actually shows you how little people actually know about football. This guy may not score us 20 plus goals a season, but he will assist in other finding the net, he is a big workhorse style, physical player. He will cause defenders problems allowing the other forwards and attacking mids to influence the game.

People may argue we had a workhorse striker in Garner, but in reality Garner was a lunatic and a liability for the most part, very lucky not to be sent off on a few occasions for us if we are being honest. Herrera is an international and we should be giving him more than one game before declaring him a dud!

08 Aug 2017 06:22:30
Id add aswell in the motherwell game miller dropped way too deep to offer any support to him,

08 Aug 2017 07:18:17
Miller has become to keen to drop off! Herrera is going to need a proper strike partner! Morelas could be ideal for him in the respect of their different styles

08 Aug 2017 07:39:02
Herrera and morelos have only just arrived give them a chance.

08 Aug 2017 07:55:48
So who's going to score the 20+ goals that we will need if herrera won't? We can't expect the midfield to score a hell of a lot more than what we would normally expect them to. Other players will obv chip in and score but we need a 20+ goals a season striker.

08 Aug 2017 09:53:25
Bearmode91

Whilst I totally agree it's wrong to write off Herrera after such a short time however I also think your wrong to state that he will be a success as well after just 1 game. What do you base that on? I thought he was really off the pace on Sunday and looked really awkward. Let's hope he can adjust to the type of football played up here and be successful. However I am more concerned about the lack of a 25+ striker in our squad. This problem hasn't been addressed yet and if we are to believe the press about going for Walker and McLean then it's not going to be addressed.

08 Aug 2017 10:58:49
I agree a lot with the above posts, miller does not play like an out n out striker, he seem to have this kind of free roll
Now so he's not in the positions to pick up the scraps,
Miller was always one of these instinctive strikers if he where you turn n shoot most times he would score, give him time and he will fluff it, I love millers engine and have the upmost respect for him as a player but now we are all beginning to see where a different type of player could slot in, I believe this year miller should be an impact player, give morales game time up with Herrera 2 strong lads, Morelos is goal scorer no matter what league you play in, if you know where the goals are you know where the goals are, Onwards and upwards bears! πŸ‘

08 Aug 2017 11:55:44
Herrera needs time, caixinha brought him here knowing he was in poor form, it was 1 or 2 seasons before when he was playing under caixinha that he had his best 2 seasons and was scoring plenty. I believe he was a little bit of a risk but one that can for sure pay off, again I'd say he needs at least 4-6 weeks to get some sharpness and confidence and if we are not seeing his best form by then I would be concerned, but please lay off the guy he has produced in the past and you are basically showing a lack of faith in the manager by not backing his player.

As for a 20 goal striker, it's not crucial if you have goals throughout the team. If we sign McLean and walker, then we will have an industrious and creative midfield with goals from all areas. Morelos and Herrera can prove to be our main men up top with the likes of walker, Windass, Pena, dorrans, McLean etc who could all be regular goalgetters between them.

08 Aug 2017 12:52:46
Morelles will score no matter the league as he knows where the goal is? Remember Nicky Clark, he knew where the goal was too. Although I think if he was played more it could have been different for him

08 Aug 2017 16:28:21
To all of those who have made their negative minds up regarding Herrera. Let me give you a bit of history regarding a "legend". Attila only scored 10 goals in 33 games in his 1st season, and in the 5 years he starred for us, in only 2 of the 5 seasons did he score 20 or more goals. Give Herrera a break and wait and see. This thing about a striker scoring 20+ goals a season doesn't necessary need to happen if others are scoring, Dorrans 2 last saturday for instance. If Herrera is pulling the CBs all over the place it leaves plenty of room for others to fill the gap. Oh and who had the nickname of Attila? . Mark Hately

08 Aug 2017 17:16:46
Totally agree hatley and super ally where both slated at the start of there rangers career but went on to be come legends give them a bit of time .

08 Aug 2017 21:18:32
Joe garner, martin waghorn, ohal etc were given plenty time, what's your point bluetoon?
