"I wasn't being cheeky or facetious"

I know mate. Humour and inflection doesn't always transcend the written word. I was in complete agreement. Apologies.

"a lot of Rangers business in the summer all hinges on the takeover"

Completely agree. Pity really. .

"Why take Diouf on a Bosman when you might have £2-3 million to spend on a striker?"

I believe EHD is worth more than 2-3mill, but he really needs to prove himself during the next 6 months. Could we even afford his wages if he were to join on a Bosman?!

Has anyone else noticed that The Rangers have actually won 9-in-a-row twice?

Thoughts?

Ed are you aware of roughly how much it would cost to sign diouf on a permanent deal? {ed's note - isn't he out of contract in the summer?}

I was told (not very reliable source to be fair), that Blackburn would have waived any fee for Diouf just to get him out the club. He is a free agent in the summer though. WS wouldn't accept this because of Dioufs reputation, but if he behaves there will be a contract offer put to him. Again it was not the best of sources and IMO alot of Rangers business in the summer all hinges on the takeover. Why take Diouf on a Bosman when you might have £2-3 million to spend on a striker?

Although I didn't find anything funny about the 'we have connections' posting on the Man Utd page, Sickbhoy! I'm sure you meant it to be funny, but it's not

Apoligies mate, didn't mean any offence, maybe a bit too far, but mild to some of the stuff on here.

Broony 1 Diouf 0
Lennon 2 Diouf 0

08 Feb 2011 19:46:12

I am a sometime poster to both the Celtic and Rangers sites (for the record, I'm a Hoops fan). I agree with those that are looking for some quality 'cross border' banter without any of the nastiness. It is possible, there a few who already do (GTID and Sickbhoy for example. . although I didn't find anything funny about the 'we have connections' posting on the Man Utd page, Sickbhoy! I'm sure you meant it to be funny, but it's not).

For my part, I posted the 'gotta love Broony's celebration' comment. But, although I meant it in a humourous way, having read some of the responses, it is clear that there are those who rose to the 'quality bear baiting' bit rather to easily. Someone suggested that Broony's actions could have led to a riot. Sadly, in the real world he's probably right. . one man's banter can be another man's incitement. But, surely, in the cyberspace of the website, it must be possible to exchange (relatively) good natured gibes without causing a virtual riot. The '5 stars' debate (which I started, btw) is a reasonable example. Although there were one or two iffy posts, for the most part it was good natured. There is nothing wrong with defending a point of view, but it can always be achieved with a bit of humour and a bit of humility.

More recently, however, there has been a marked increase in bitter name calling from both sides. Ed, I know it must be difficult to police these sites, but you've already stated that some posts are binned if the acronyms are unclear or the language is inflammatory. I'd suggest you take it further and bin any with blatant name calling. If their comments are not posted they'll soon modify their language or stop posting.

To paraphrase Chewin' The Fat, "I'm only here for the banter".

Now, about HMRC. . ;-)

What you need are some decent minded Celtic/ Rangers fans to edit their respective pages. Who know all the lingo/ subliminal meanings to posts etc. Fair play to the Eds, they don't want their site turned into pages of sectarian rants, so delete anything they don't understand or could be a bit dodgy. (Mind my cheque Ed LOL)

Re:Firstly i can't imagine my posts being of the content that shouldnt get posted i do keep them clean, maybe it was just missed.

agree with Sickboy tho(at the same time still refusing to use the "h" :oP) ideally you would have a non biased scottish editor for it. Unfortunately a complete unbiased scotsman wen it comes to the OF is a very rare thing. even if they don't have a preference which team they prefer they do normally have a preferance over whether the like the OF as a label or not. A lot of fans up here can't stand either of the old firm just as much as a ger hates a celtic lad . vice versa. . Is that Sickboy puttin his name forward for the tic pages then ?! {ed's note - I am increasing the number of editors gradually, need to get a few more in ready for the transfer window, it was impossible to keep up at times. I will be keeping an eye out for a couple more to come in once the newest one is up to speed.}

No way in the world would I say I am unbiased, but can any OF fan truly be? I do admit I love Celtic but would I would like to think I am mature enough to have a civilised conversation with a Rangers fan. As long as posts aren't abusive, sectarian or down right vile, I've no problem of listening, having an intelligent conversation or having some banter/ patter with the person and I try posting things/ opinions that would instigate conversation without resorting to name calling or the snidey sneaky comments that people try to pass as banter. Of course I post alot of tongue in cheek stuff, but nothing too offensive I hope. No wonder English fans look down on us, all they see is Fen*** this and Ora**** that. No football spoke about but hours of debate about a battle over 300 years ago! If you want poisonous bigotry, there are plenty of sites you can use, we'll stick to the football, thanks. Rumours, banter, even the funny nonsense. Best bet is to ignore the bigots and enjoy the sensible punters, mate. In my teens I dyed my hair shocking blonde for raving/ partying/ pissing folks off, my mates said I looked like sickboy from Trainspotting, I just added the H for a Celtic sound to it, that's all it's because of. Nothing sinister, you are quite safe mate LOL

Now this is the tricky bit , at start off year the bank asked MR WHITE AND MR MURRAY if they could pay the sume owned , well you can guess what the reply was

Who? Jimmy White? the guys name is Whyte!

p.s. posting "FACT!" after things does not make it a fact. Posting links to sources might help. Over and out.

Are you kidding mate? I thought if you typed FACT, that was it a done deal LOL

One last time, listen carefully. No one from Mr WHYTE (see what I done there) or Mr Murrays party are allowed to discuss the takeover. If they did it would break Stock Market rules and land either party with a very hefty fine. No one apart from the involved parties knows what is going on, the only time we will hear anything is if the deal goes through, or it collpapses. Anyone saying otherwise is lying, or risking losing their job and landing their club with a fine they can ill afford. Even Derk Johnstone made a fool of himself by predicting when the takeover will happen. Please, please, please Ed, can you once again confirm the Stock Market rules. It's been posted more times Robbie Keane coming to Celtic, but no one seems to believe us. Even Andrew Ellis can not comment and he is only going to be a small shareholder when/ if the take over happens. I am not saying it will or won't ( I hope it does for the good of Scottish football), but NOBODY on here knows anything about it. Oh, I almost forgot. .
FACT lol

"News on the take over"

Lies. All of it.

NO-ONE knows what is happening with the proposed take-over. Least of all a guy sittin at his computer making stuff up.

You talk of "the city". What city? Do you mean the financial hub of London City? How could you POSSIBLY know what happens there?

Furthermore, your assertion that HMRC and LSTB would to be assured as their status as creditors is absurd and "a made up fact".

News on the take over

not good news my teddy bears the take over will not be happening this season hopefully by the start off next

tax problems with rangers being so tied up with murray intern holdings , the bank want insurance that when take over happens that they will not be second in line for money that they are due

news from the city is that tax people also do not want to be second in line also

now this is the tricky bit , at start off year the bank asked MR WHITE AND MR MURRAY if they could pay the sume owned , well you can guess what the reply was

this is fact , rangers were very close to administration and it is being looked at just now , some money people think that this is the way forward , wipe the slate clean and start again , there is no way that we will be hearing any news this season

Some editors may be nervous of the some of the Scottish posts and many do get deleted if they are not understood. So I can't really help I am afraid.}

Hello Bhoys. Rangers fans here. Anyone else getting fed up of this?

Some of the comments by Bears on this page are pretty shameful. But, then again, some of the Tim's comments on our page is just the same.

I've said in various forums that the "yous are worse than us brigade" are starting to take over. I'm all for the banter. I love it I do. But when it gets like this I feel ashamed.

I for one will not be back posting on the Celtic Banter page as I do not want to be associated with this hatred and bigotry. I'll spend my energies on my own club rather than worrying about you and yours if you don't mind. lol

Laters. .

PS. .i would encourage all like-minded bears to do the same

On behalf of all decent Celtic fans mate, you are more than welcome to post on Celtic pages. Like yourself, I enjoy the banter and winding each other up, but the hatred and bile have no place on here. It's the only site I've found that you can have a conversation and give/ take some ribbing without the sectarian bile, I grew out of that 20 years ago! The Eds do their best on here to stop it getting through, but beacause of the changing patter/ usage of words they miss some of it. If you stop posting then basically they have won. The more decent posters we can get the more enjoyable the site will become and hopefully the keyboard warriors will find somewhere else to go. Just ignore it and have a laugh with the rest of us, mate. Cheers

Ok then celtic fans. whos the most decorated spl club?

Re: forget it mate, i have posted a couple of times on their page that the only fair way to compare each team is to look at the competitions that we have both been directly opposed to each other in ie. domestic comps and asked them who comes out on top. I only got an answer in the shape of a huge 10 min rant. But in the end not one of them could muster up an answer.

So to any dhims lloking at this . . . in competitions that both celtic and rangers have been in at the same time (all comps since the started as a club) tell me who comes out on top?

Think we would be better looking forward to the next game as we know man for man we have a better team than Celtic, my problem is the way they are told to play , defend and do not shutdown until they are near the box. Please walter teach them to attack and lets start winning with style. Look for someone to replace whittaker and broadfoot. Find a new centrehalf for Weir.
Surely a team like rangers have developed young players to play in the first team in the future. Ness has walked into the team so where are the defenders, surely wilson is not the only one we had.If this is all we have we would be better of selling the training facility and clearing the debt and buy the local junoir ground, secure it and use it for training

In response to the Allerdyce/ Diouf scenario someone brought up. I'n not go to slag Diouf or pass judgement bu have U ever watched Allerdyces teams. It beggars belief how this dinosaur is constantly linked with any vacant job, even the England job! Ed back me up with this and name 5 managers that have been so poor yet get chance after chance in England. Maybe I'm missing something but he would struggle in the EPL with Aberdeen IMO.
