Football is a business and players are constantly selling a product.

Tav and waghorn are doing what most players do to get a better offer.

I would be worried if they were out of contract in January but they aren't.

If they have a good season in the SPFL then we should tie them down with good packages.

09 Jul 2016 15:52:12
i can see what your saying mate but if this contract stuff is true and not resolved and the two players have a couple of bad games. you can see where i'm going with this.

08 Jul 2016 22:57:06
When do think Warbs will make a decision on Hardie, Walsh, Thompson and McCrorie! will the lads be given a run out in the Lge Cup or does the tranfer window shut before then! I really do think that Walsh wants his chance and the lad is in his last yr. I think Warbs will keep Hardie but not sure about the others although they have by all account gave a good account of themselves in America!
Also the names that we have been connected with in the press I honestly don't think any will come, other than an experianced CB I think Warbs will bring in 3 young Attacking players from the big clubs down South! players thet Poch etc realize that they need toughening up and under a Manager like Warbs at a team like Rangers is the best option, so to summerize we will be getting young players with bags of technicall ability and who we could never afford. players chapping on the door at Chelsea Spurs Man Cty and I think the wee winger from Liverpool will come but his name escapes me at the moment. Really do worry that we're going to lose Walsh tho.

08 Jul 2016 20:43:25
They're contracted till 2018, so no need to offer new contracts yet.

08 Jul 2016 22:17:43
Cant believe that for one Warbs would offer Wags and Tavs new contracts until they can prove themselves in the premiership as we've got them tied down till 2018band Ithought that the pair of them would know that Warbs basically rescued them from football widerness and the would be shouting there mouth off about players like Barton and Nico being on wages that we think are around the 15k mark so Warbs may have to work his magic and tell these two that the wages tey are on is X but if they think that they have the ability then bonuses will be offered to match there mouth. would love to know how much our lads are on wkly and if anyone can direct me to a site with this info let me know, I really hope Wags Tavs and the others understanad that this season regarding the clubs financese is the one where if they produce regarding Qualification to Europa Lge [minimum] is then the time to taljk about increased wages NOT playing well in the Championship and getting promoted!

08 Jul 2016 23:04:50
I don't know that the players have been shouting their mouths off andy1872.

They are doing what all players do but Scottish media make everything to do with Rangers into a circus.

09 Jul 2016 07:47:04
Fair enough shooting there mouth off maybe a bit much, but can only think of the possibility that clubs may be sniffing around our players and agents being agents have possibly mentioned to the lads that bigger wages are on offer prob down south. More I think about that scenario the more it makes sense yeah.

09 Jul 2016 15:45:38
I imagine wags and tav are on 8k pw totally overpaid IMO so if their asking for increase, let them show by performances in top league, if successful by all means increase their salary if not jettison them.

08 Jul 2016 20:25:47
One name that was linked a few months ago and forgotten about is Nahki Wells. I think he could well be the player Warburton is looking at. Would be affordable and imo would be a great success up here.

08 Jul 2016 19:36:13
No rush with tav or waghorn they have had 1 decent season in the championship let's see how they do this year. If the perform then they deserve a better deal. They are contracted to 2018 and are going nowhere.

08 Jul 2016 19:14:01
Wags and tav contracted to 2018.So plenty of time. Get this season done then talk.

08 Jul 2016 18:20:41
Rangers about to sign a brilliant striker -
name? SWAN VESTAS !

08 Jul 2016 19:42:52
Aye the perfect match 😂😂.

09 Jul 2016 15:57:48
swan vestas on fire your defence is terrified. sorry could not resist.

08 Jul 2016 17:59:01
Agents really do like to stir it up and feed nonsense to gullible newspapers.

Tav and Wag are in discussions with RFC for a new contract, back in the day we would never have known this, only that they have re-signed.

Rejecting a contract means that they are leaving which is far from the case.

Daily Mail and The Herald.

08 Jul 2016 16:54:02
message to Wags and Tav, just remember this when turning down a contract - NO INDIVIDUAL IS BIGGER THAN RANGERS, so don't be greedy.

08 Jul 2016 17:49:05
Just the papers trying to stir it up and unsettle people. Anyhow, neither are good enough for a better level and certainly not until they've proved they are so they would be taking a step back if they left!

08 Jul 2016 18:40:47
Tab and Waggy would do well to remember who brought them out of obscurity!

No one is bigger than our club and if they are digging their heels in, then ship them out . Tav is never a defender and Waggy did well in the championship but untried at a higher level.

08 Jul 2016 19:31:37
Wouldn't be too disappointed if both went and we got a transfer fee for either. Tavernier is a poor defender who will be shown up in the premiership and Waghorn won't score as many goals as he did last season.

08 Jul 2016 20:33:16
I think if it's true Tav might be warming the bench for a while considering we have brought in an international right back as "cover" lol.

08 Jul 2016 16:47:24
Has Tav and Waghorn actually rejected new deals because they are disgruntled at their wages compared Barton's and Rossiter's? If so then that's shocking.

08 Jul 2016 17:07:51
You think its fair to be on less than players who just came into the team? Especially Rossiter who has hardly played a first team game?

Having said that, looking at where they came from, how they were performing before and how they are performing now, in the championship last season mind you, they should be a little bit more grateful for the opportunities the club has given them.

Important to note also that this just be negotiation tactics, I think the press have shown how wrong the can be when it comes to our in house situations, such as Mark Warbuton not wanting to sign a contract. This is probably just the press blowing things out of proportion to hurt us and sell papers.

08 Jul 2016 17:26:09
I think it must just be rumours but if not then they must remember that simply don't have to be here, yes they are talented but if they think they are bigger than the club and want more money after only proving themselves in the championship then we have others to fill those positions hit as I've said, I think it's just paper talk and I hope this isn't the case.

08 Jul 2016 19:33:42
It would be interesting to see which clubs come in for them if the story is true. I think you would be looking at lower end championship sides.

08 Jul 2016 16:39:25
I read Waghorn and Tavernier have rejected new deals, source is from daily record, as far as i'm concerned, untrue and trouble making again from that rag of a paper, obviously they're not doing too well with their sales lol!

08 Jul 2016 16:52:18
Aye my thoughts exactly if was any truth surely there would be more details with what was or wasn't offered trying to stir the pot tav n wags no they are wanted they both only just stated there committed during the trip to USA and how they are loving it at rangers the daily roaster paper is lying.

08 Jul 2016 16:57:01
Started in the guardian! Another rag!

08 Jul 2016 17:10:15
Mischief making by the media probably got their info from mad phil.

08 Jul 2016 21:10:20
Has Warburton not rejected a new contract as well?

08 Jul 2016 16:39:25
So with Will Grigg not coming in and MW saying we aren't interested in him, is this the point where ITK poster come out and say, "This was our intent all along, to distract fans, so we can do get our business done for our real target". Or this "We were in for him but couldn't get a deal done".

Love how these situations pan out, get a couple of deals correct and your suddenly in the know and can do no wrong. Five or six deals you don't get right but get the benefit of the doubt because of the other two.

08 Jul 2016 16:18:55
Sone alike just signed for Fulham so he can be scored off the list on strikers.

08 Jul 2016 14:40:46
Interesting from MW last night in the Record.

Says we're looking at the 4th choice CB and striker positions. To me that says Hill, Wilson and Kiernan will all start ahead of any CB we sign before the window closes. As for a striker he's said it is not anyone that has been mentioned thus far, which casts doubt over players like Grigg and Bradshaw.

Could the striker comment from Warbs be him throwing the media off? With the bookies giving odds of 10/ 11 for us to sign Grigg its a rumour that's hard to ignore.

08 Jul 2016 15:13:02
Remember the bookies will base their odds on what people are betting. As stated a few posts ago C*ltic were 2/ 1 to sign Ibra a few weeks back, the odds mean nothing. Exciting times to be a bear none the less!

08 Jul 2016 19:23:09
I assure every bear on here, rangers are not signing will grigg!

08 Jul 2016 22:35:43
At the moment Bears our two CB's are going to be Hill and Crooks.

08 Jul 2016 12:06:16
I just read the gaffers interview in the paper on regarding the rumours on a new striker, he said the problem is we bid 500.000g and the other club want 2m and then u try and meet somewhere in the middle, it looks like my hunch that I posted the other day about us spending money on a striker might be true, I don't know y, but I just had a feeling we were holding back some cash for a number 9,I wonder who it is?
On another note I think m, oh and Harry forrester are going to have great seasons, I'm still a bit concerned about our central defence but middle to front we have some great options.

08 Jul 2016 12:22:45
If £2 million is the price of a 25 goal striker that will fire us into the Champions League then we simply have to find the money. Any player with sell-on value would make this price a steal imo.

08 Jul 2016 12:27:21
Also, the club have done a fantastic job with the recruitment but I feel that we need a CD and CF close to their prime to complete the squad. Not a unproven talent or an experienced campaigner that's legs have gone and I think money will have to be spent to get the right players.

08 Jul 2016 08:26:45
Lukas Podolski.

08 Jul 2016 11:34:40
wouldn't be surprised tbh - wasn't he one of those who sent well done texts etc when we got back?
if so I think this has been done since before the Euros.

onward and upward.

08 Jul 2016 11:44:23
Give it time Lukas.

08 Jul 2016 12:10:25
Never happen he's valued at 8 mil and contracted to Galatasary till 2018.

08 Jul 2016 12:10:43
Get a grip, Podolski is contracted until 2018, on 30-40k a week and valued at 7 million.

08 Jul 2016 12:46:25
What do you mean get a grip? Is this not a rumor website I'm on? Don't agree with it that's not a problem but I take it your on this site to see what people are thinking out with yourself?

Get a grip indeed!

08 Jul 2016 15:41:45
There are rumours and then there is the kind of nonsense that gets spouted on here day after day, people should stop living in fantasy land.

07 Jul 2016 21:00:10
Looks like Will Grigg is the favourite to be our new striker. If it is him then he'll command a proper transfer fee. Probably we are talking about £2m. Can we say this is realistic at the moment? . I'm not so sure, but if Dave King does fork out then we'll have a team that 'should' and not 'could' be challenging for the title.

Come on Dave!

08 Jul 2016 10:22:26
MW just said the media are talking garbage and it isn't anyone we are linked with.

08 Jul 2016 11:29:17
It could well be cunning ploy by Warburton to throw the media off the track when in fact they aren't talking garbage though some posters are clearly talking lots of it.

So not taking the manager's comments at face value, I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at Greg Stewart or Jason Cummings. Then again, maybe Warburton is telling it like it is.

08 Jul 2016 11:29:30
Or is that what the media told you too?

08 Jul 2016 11:59:04
If Mariappa hadn't been pictured we would have had no idea we were talking to him either. MW and McParland are experienced and keep everything close to there chests and I assume they only deal with agents and players who are like that too.

08 Jul 2016 00:58:06
Warburton is not signing American and has dismissed all the strikers that have been mentioned and the real target has went under the radar.
