slight diversion -
tonights game St Johnstone v Inverness
Attendance barely over 2,000

Mid table stuff and can't get enough interest?
Said this before and I will say it again, like it or not, Scottish football is dying rapidly and needs a radical change of direction, perhaps top league of 18 and two smaller leagues of 12, and change to summer football, which would ensure better quality grass pitches?
We also need to find a source of income that allows the half built stadiums to be finished off, those places are a farce and create no atmosphere, otherwise our football will eventually be a selection of regional "junior quality" leagues with little or no following at all.

10 Mar 2016 07:50:57
Its ludicrous only having a 12 team league! It's boring as hell playing the same teams every few weeks make it at least 18 it's not as if teams like falkirk, qos, hibs etc. Would struggle.

10 Mar 2016 09:20:23
With all the football on TV right now compared to ticket prices. Something really needs doing. I only to take my 8 year old right now but when the other 2 get older GULP I'll have less money for beer.

10 Mar 2016 09:21:35
Agreed, 18 12 12 leagues with junior football revamped into regional leagues like north south east west and the 4 winners from these sections compete to enter the football league. Or something similar? Would be much more exciting. Bottom team would be replaced by overall winner of the 4 sections. 2nd bottom team play scottish junior cup winner in playoff for place in league? Just an idea to try and add a spark. Prem league and lower leagues have playoff system of promotion and relegation. You would think sky loosing the prem etc to BT would maybe spark more investment in our game from sky same as they have done in holland. Sfa must invest in grass roots too, why can't there be football centres across the country with proper coaches and all weather astro grass that don't cost a fortune for kids to play on. I walk past public parks that used to be full of kids with a ball, me included. Now the parks are empty and full of broken glass and dog mess. Time for change.

10 Mar 2016 09:35:14
we have to face it interest in Scottish football is dying
to think we had only 30k for a quarter final and the other lot did not even manage 20 k T. V has killed the game.

10 Mar 2016 10:20:36
They never even managed 20k they got 14k, sums it up really, we must change the people running our game.

10 Mar 2016 12:45:40
The death of Scottish football coincides with Rangers demise. Who would have thought? It really is all about the Rangers.

09 Mar 2016 19:39:22
Celtic fan in peace.
Ok guys I am going to try and talk about this game next month logically and without green tinted glasses and hope you will do the same.
The theory on here so far is that you are confident and think you might win the game fair enough nothing wrong with that.
Logically we are the better team on paper but as we all know football is not played on paper, so going along with the theory that you are playing brilliant football ( arguably) and we are playing poor football you now think you have a chance.
BUT heres the thing, by your own admission you are only confident because you playing brilliantly and we playing poor, but as we know no team can play brilliantly all the time and any slip of standards by yourselves will be costly. Also any pick up on performance by us will be costly to yourselves.
So back to logical you HAVE to play brilliant to beat us, in addition we have to be poor.
Both at the same time are unlikely and if you hear any manager of a team in a lower division being interviewed before a game like this they will tell you that if they have an off day and we are at our best we have a chance and I agree with this.
That should tell you where your at.

09 Mar 2016 19:51:23
So basically, the losing team will have played a poor football and the winning team will have played good football? You don't lie mate, you are talking logic there.

09 Mar 2016 20:03:31
If both teams play to their best how close do u think the score will be though RAYMAN? I doubt it would be as big a difference as u might think.

09 Mar 2016 20:05:28
Not to sound patronising in anyway with that last post Rayman.

If you go by the last meeting, which every news outlet seems to be. We were lucky not to be done by more than two goals however, the tables are a bit more level and our ship is a lot steadier.

True on paper your team is up there but look how well they fair against regular opposition eg. Dundee, hearts and Aberdeen? They can't have all simply been a result of poor play on the day that is taking away from the other teams effort.

At the end of the game you and indeed we; will be able to see how far we have come and remember that we as a team are going to improve again when we gain promotion back into the top flight. So whatever the result is I am looking forward to it and hope our lads play with pride and enjoy the experience.

Hopefully the majority of support on the day will not be brought down by the usual shite the minority drag along.

09 Mar 2016 20:37:07
Rayman, celtic are playing poor just now and we are playing some really good football. To be fair form doesn't always play a factor but I'm sure you'll agree that we are capable of winning this game. Its not going to be a stroll for either team. Our players will have confidence due to style of play and form. On the other hand celtic probably don't have a lot of confidence due to recent form and the saga with deila and fans not turning up. Celtic obv still a good side that could win the game and to be honest I don't think a lot celtic fans fancy this game just now because of the reasons above. Should be a great game.

09 Mar 2016 21:11:35
Rayman your right football isn't played on paper. look at Leicester city northern Ireland for example. Neither team should be where they are but both teams deserve to be where they are on merit. You also have to remember this Rangers team have only been together seven and half months. We play at a very high tempo with quick ball for the whole game. I believe we are one of the fittest teams in Scotland and playing football which is very easy on the eye. Before Christmas we where defensively naive now this could have been because defenders were switching off. But the team has worked on this and are now a good solid unit especially with Dom Ball in the holding midfield role. I also think the way we pass the ball is going to invite miss timed tackles and someone will be sent off I am putting money on that. There is no pressure on Rangers, Celtic are odds on to win. For me win loss or draw I will continue to support my team. Ranger supporters getting excited about football matters again damn right 'we deserve it' and when the games been finally played our manager will know what calibre of players he will need next year to compete. Rangers always.

09 Mar 2016 21:21:09
Rafbob you aren't worth much a reply mate since you post earlier about us having won NOTHING, that tells me EVERYTHING about you mate. You know NOTHING.
For the more intelligent of you guys we have only been beaten 3 times this season domestically and we are being constantly told we are poor.
Wait till we start playing we will be gone.

09 Mar 2016 21:43:49
What have Celtic won this season mate?

09 Mar 2016 21:44:35
Why do you guys give these posts the time of day end off ignore he'll be back now.

09 Mar 2016 21:50:22
Rayman I think you have taken my earlier comment out of context. I am talking about the current season, where Celtic have indeed won nothing.
As for my intelligence. That's a bit harsh to assume isn't it?

09 Mar 2016 23:10:56
Rafbob you indeed compound your own stupidity the season is not at an end mate there is no trophy completed.
As far as I am aware we are holders of 2 trophies at the moment. How many do u hold?
Indeed if you want to go down that route how many trophies have u won ever in your 3 year history.

09 Mar 2016 23:44:50
Good effort mate, mind your step as you come off that record player.

I simply mean that you have won nothing so far as the competition is still going and yeah you hold two at the moment but how realistic is it that you will still hold them come the end of season?

If you want an argument mate your looking at the wrong guy, I have a thick skin and don't mind wee trolls.

10 Mar 2016 01:38:14
Rayman

So you start off 'Celtic fan in peace' and end up with the usual taunts and jibes of you've only been in existence for 3 years. We certainly seem to wind you bhoys up.

As for the game, I don't care if Rangers beat Celtic. We have bigger and better things in mind. We have a very good management team and are playing good football. What great progress we have made.

If we don't win in the semi final, then it will make the time we do beat you all the better. Football runs in cycles and we are on the up and you appear to have missed the opportunity to be so far ahead of us that it would have taken us years to catch up. Your board have really let you down.

When we had to reapply for admission, I thought that with the Champions League money each year that you would definitely win at least 10 in a row but your Board and Management team have blown that possibility.

10 Mar 2016 06:43:17
He showed his true colours in the end.

10 Mar 2016 07:52:33
Celtic rely on the players themselves winning games there manager as no plan no set way if playing no style. They rely on good players to win them matches. We are a team our manager has us playing a certain way our players know what the manager wants and work hard for each other but the players maybe aren't as good as some of celtics tho . Celtic players aren't playing for their manager.

09 Mar 2016 19:56:57
Rayman you will need to pick up your form or you could maybe lose the league eh, i would think that's more important than picking up form to beat us.

10 Mar 2016 09:44:16
"Indeed if you want to go down that route how many trophies have u won ever in your 3 year history. "

that is honestly a typical Celtic fans response. here is a funny fact for you, Football clubs are seen as assets. when a company goes bust they are allowed to sell their assets. which is what happened to Rangers FC, therefore not a new club. I'll be very honest, Celtic Fans need to grow up with all this. it started as banter, now it's just pathetic and seems slightly obsessed.

10 Mar 2016 14:05:08
If its only "3yrs" then why are you bothered? Unless there is darker, more sinister side to your concern?

10 Mar 2016 14:45:10
guys it was only a bit of fun, but when someone says what have u won this year when no trophies are settled yet I cudnt help myself lol. It doesn't get much dafter than that.

10 Mar 2016 16:31:57
Rayman?
All I mean is your team are always touted as match winners but decent competition proves they aren't.

Added to the fact your manager can't run a bath and what do you have? Not much and I say it again in the hope you maybe understand the fourth time- Celtic have won nothing this season so stop talking them up like they have done the treble.

Also it's not daft to state facts as you say the competition is still running and so far you have won as much as anyone else in the running.

09 Mar 2016 15:57:34
Although I'm a fan of dom ball, and had a great game on Saturday, I think he'll be dropped on Friday. Halliday back into the holding role with forrester in to midfield and O'halloran on wide right. Would love to have ball back when we get to the premiership as I think he'd have a bigger role to play against a better quality of opposition.

09 Mar 2016 16:50:58
I agree, mckay king ohalloran and Forrester all fighting for a starting spot and all playing well!

09 Mar 2016 18:07:59
Dom Ball will be playing centre back as I am sure Rob Keirnan is suspended on Friday.

09 Mar 2016 12:58:41
DUMFERMLINE LOYAL SAYS

Scott Allan and Scott Christie would walk into Rangers team but are struggling for a game for Selick

Comments please

WTF!

09 Mar 2016 13:16:09
Its Ryan Christie, and yes they would both be key players in our team. I'm not being pessimistic as I think the team we have will be more than capable of beating celtic especially with the confidence we are playing with. However it is fact that we would have bit our hands off to get Allan back in summer and the boy Christie was inverness's star man and has shown loads of potential. For me both slightly better players than holt and zalelem.

Mackay has been brilliant this season however I doubt whether he will continue like that in the premier league next season whereas Christie has proven he can do it in that league.

09 Mar 2016 13:25:04
What planet r u on, Scott Allen in the summer, that boy will never wear a Rangers jersey, he had his chance and decided he didn't want to wait for us, his decision now he lives with it.

09 Mar 2016 13:27:30
We tried to buy Allan and would have built our midfield around him. Fact. Direct your wtf at yourself!

09 mar 2016 13:59:03
so luigi you telling me that based on how our season has went just now that scott allan would walk into our team?

lets be honest, as you and others like to remind us, he was playing the cahmpionship, not the premiership like selick!

what did he actually do for hibs? they finished below rangers last season. he played a handfull of games for them this year, he is good but walk into our team i don't think so!

and yes he is better than zal, but holt and halliday have good bond in the middle of the park and look were it has taken us!

09 mar 2016 14:04:39
and luigi, not every player we buy means they a starter, they are in the squad and must prove themselves, forrester, o'hal, billy king etc, had to work for there chance, so how you could have said we woudl build midfield round him is beyond me, he has done nothing of note in the last few seasons, played well but were has it got him, a locker in lennoxtown, with another 50 other wannabees.

we sign crooks and windass, we going to build a team around them, doubt it they going to have to fight for a position in our team like the rest.

09 Mar 2016 14:10:47
Luigi, loyal, you are dealing with people who can't even read a simple posting properly, one has declared 2 young players as useless, the other [delbhoy) doesn't understand the post, just so as you know dellbhoy, read it again and you will notice that the guy said quite clearly that we "would have bit our hand off to get Allan, back in the summer ", that means back in last summer kiddo, so try and keep up, What planet are you on? Hohoho
Tommy.

09 Mar 2016 14:26:57
Hibs finished below rangers last season? Didn't hearts finish 1st, hibs 2nd, us 3rd, Qos 4th? Yesterday you said that you would take any of celtics players, today you said that celtic have some better players. Not every player we buy is a starter you said, but you moan at celtic buying all these players"wanabees". Surely every player celtic buy is not a starter? Or is it double standards? I'm not sticking up for them but you can't have a rule for one and a rule for another. Sorry M3VLO but you're gibbering absolute nonsense mate.

09 Mar 2016 14:40:10
*wouldn't take any of their players. scott allan player of season last year. Not performing because he isn't playing. Would hibs be a better team if allan was still there- yes I think they would be. Would allan be in our starting 11- Yes I think he would be.

09 Mar 2016 14:42:54
Tommy your one of the biggest negative posters on here, and another thing do u think I'm a Tim because if u do uv clearly not read my posts on here so don't put spell my name with a h in it the way that mob spell bhoy my name is Derek Johnstone Miller but my mates call me delboy.

09 Mar 2016 15:24:07
assuming he stayed fit Alan would have been a key player for us. Can understand bitterness towards him but I can't understand how you can debate that one. Must have a short memory.

09 Mar 2016 16:06:00
the problem with scott allan is we probably will never find
out good or bad he is as he gets little game time but a new
manager may bring him on.

09 Mar 2016 16:52:10
Allan yes probably would get a game next to halliday against smaller sides but in the big games he would be dropped for ball. Christie no chance he is a long way to go, not near holts level.

09 Mar 2016 17:29:51
I agree. Holt has been fantastic this season and there is no way Allan, good player as he is, would displace him in our team. Don't understand this debate about who would get in our team and who from us would get in their team etc. It's irrelevant isn't it? One thing I have noticed is the negative guys are once again flooding the site after the dust has settled on that fantastic display against Dundee. To be fair there was a waiting period before they returned. Wonder what the weekend will bring. No doubt the world will be coming to an end should we 'shock horror' only scrape a 1-0 against Morton on Friday.

09 Mar 2016 20:54:02
To be fair lads. If Allan did sign when we were after him he would have got a lot of game time as warbs likes to use the squad. Think we could have had a real gem of a player under his supervision. Anyway its all behind us now. let's look forward to the season ending and see what new players come up the marble staircase.

09 Mar 2016 09:20:28
re recruitment in close season and the expected exodus of some players namely Temps, Sheils, Clark and Law. 2 affordable players I would like to see brought in are 2 ex-rangers, Sone Aluko and Greg Stewart. Stewart showed skill in a poor Dundee side on Sat.
I think both would be good additions to the squad. what do you think?

09 Mar 2016 09:43:52
I didn't even realise Greg Stewart played in that game. Think I'll pass on Stewart. Aluko however I'd take back in a heartbeat.

09 Mar 2016 11:35:47
Is aluko available in the summer? I think he would fit into the team. If we can sort this merchandise contract with SD would give us a huge boost in the summer. Surely if newcastle go down he would sell his stake in us. Newcastle would be worth more to him with bt sky etc. Obv he would have to get them back in the prem. Which I think he would put all his effort into. Another point, could he sell his stake in us to one of his puppets or would eng champ rules not allow that because of close connections? Shame for newcastle fans but them getting relegated could be a blessing for us.

09 Mar 2016 11:49:29
Aluko is on 24 grand a week at Hull unless he's willing to take a substantial paycut no chance.
