If this is true then Hearts may exclude Lafferty from tomorrows game against Celtic which in my opinion would be a bad move as his goal scoring record against them is decent. I would of thought if Rangers are still interested in him that they would of waited until after tomorrows game.

My mistake, it was on Rangers News Feed. Maybe not the most inspiring signing of the window but an improvement on what we had last season for sure. He loves the club, hates the Tic and can play as lone striker. Personally I think he’d be good competition for Morelos.

Yeah two weeks ago! Kyle Lafferty is a decent player and would be even better with us than he would with Hearts due to the connection he has with our club

A good addition he would be and certainly sufficient cover in the team but if you want my opinion he is nothing more than a squad player

We should be aiming higher if we are to try win the League and I reckon Rangers have to play two upfront in SPL games!

Just my opinion of course Does anyone else agree?!

Windass is not a striker though and scored 18 goals for us mostly from a attacking midfield role

Lafferty will probably get us 15+ goals at most.

I like Lafferty but surely he is just a squad player

Morelos and going by what I see of Sadiq so far will both be better players

Lafferty is there for cover nothing more

Do you think Lafferty can create enough competition to make the two forwards play better?

For arguments sake, imagine getting someone like Solanke where you'd think we would have to go for two upfront and you then therefore have Sadiq/ Morelos fighting for a place, which inevitably will make him/ them want to prove themselves!

Lafferty I must say gives us another dimension but he will be a bit part player he will not break a regular

Its seems we are going more with quantity/ cover upfront

Would you call him a quality player?

Yes it was in all competitions just like windass goals were in all competitions🙃, yes there is better out there, of course there is. Lafferty is proven in our league and we know what he will bring👍.

I don't agree with much of what Coldo says, but anyone doubting Lafferty's quality really doesn't have a clue about football. The guy is top class and Rangers would be much better for him in the side.

I Really Really hope not. Why would we want Lafferty? He is not even close to Morelos except with his head. I believe umar is taller than Lafferty And good with his head. If Umar is not better than Lafferty why Did we want him on loan? So unless we regularly play 2 up front, which I see no evidence we will, I ask again why would we want Lafferty?

Also I was and am useless at FM I have to cheat and add a manager of a top club to buy my worst players (FM 2016) every transfer window. that's my CV Who is this Gerrard? :)

So Bluepete you think that if we played 2 up top that having 3 strikers is enough?
Or you believe having 2 for 1 position is enough to compete on 4 fronts?
Regardless of formation you need a minimum of 3 mate, 4 if you use 2 up top.
Lafferty doesn’t have to be better than Morelos or even Sadiq he needs to be a different type of striker which he is.
Morelos is a grafter who is great back to goal with his strength, Lafferty is better at long range shooting, general finishing and heading, Sadiq has pace to burn and a trick or 2 it’s all about horses for courses and having various options within the squad to change a game if 1 particular style isn’t working.
He’s a cheap option, knows the league, knows the club with a point to prove who steps up when u need him in big games, put £500k on table get it done.

Well we have 2 exciting young forwards of our own in Middleton and Rudden. I'd much prefer those 2 given game time than Lafferty. I really hope I'm wrong, but I said before we got him, Ejaria is not good enough. Though like you S. G. knows much better than us "Get that into your 'eads NOW".

Really don’t think Lafferty is the answer personally. Hopefully we’ll go in for that Hodzic boy and/ or Solanke because they seem like more the type of striker we need. We’ve already got a tall skinny streak of p*** with Sadiq so we don’t need another one in Lafferty.

Lafferty would be a valuable squad player and offer us something a bit different than what we have already and if we get him for about £500k as reported it’s good value for money! Where else would we get an international that brings this much to the table?

Lafferty is the perfect foil for Morelos and can play off the centre so Morelos would be less exposed.

I’d guesstimate either Origi or Solanke will go out on loan. Sturridge is staying and Ings is gone basically 1/ 2 mentioned above will become available IMO.

Anyone got any idea who we could be targeting in the market? Don't know if they're bringing in some money to balance the books or something like that, but if we were to be going for a big money move it could explain the selling of Declan John and Josh Windass. Just a thought as I heard that Gerrard thought highly of Windass when he first arrived.

He did think highly of him to begin with but something had changed when the competitive games started.

I don't think he's got the work rate and aggression that Gerrard wants so best for all parties that he moved on.

Can see him doing well down there, good luck to him. Hopefully he makes us some more money from his next move.

The club had to move players on to save on operational expenditure. Not ruling out an other signings being made by any means but I feel the Windass and John moves were more to get some marginal players wages off the books than to finance a megastar.

The manager says windass wanted to speak to Wigan and therefore wouldn’t stand in his way. We move on. Also, the team we are building is showing a real togetherness and more fight and desire than I have seen in a long time. We still have a long way to go but I feel that that mob are not going to get things their own way all the time this season. Their is certainly some unrest with Brenda.

i reckon windass was one of these players who was immense in training yet couldn't transfer it on to the park, 10/ 15 mins spells isn't going to cut it, personally i think the badge was too heavy for him.

Gerrard has said Windass wanted to play no9 every week and he couldn’t allow that, so maybe Wigan have made assurances he can play there in his favoured position every game, good luck to him he’ll soon realise he’s left one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Declan John has been injured and was close to a return, but his family have not settled in Scotland, and therefore he asked Rangers to facilitate in helping him move closer to his friends and family in Wales. He was not frozen out or sold to balance books, but we did get 800k for him plus addon's and a sell on % for a player we managed to get on a free in December after an initial loan period, plus Windass cost us 90k and sold for the same add on's and 2.5m, for a player that could not be consistent enough to be a real asset.

I’m not sure we signed John on a Free after initially having him on a loan deal. I think we paid somewhere in the region of £500k for him.

I think tonight's performance just shows how far we have come under Gerrard, it also shows his recruitment has been good and can also be trusted. I think the Windass sale was a no-brainier as the current system had no place for him, he's not really a wide player so just squeezing him in made no sense. Need to buy another centre half as cover and probably one more centre forward for competition. Haven't seen enough of Sadiq to say anything about him challenging Morelos. Apparently the rumours about the three Bosnian lads was all BS but don't understand how that happens. #letsgo.
