13 Nov 2019 05:24:16
1st and last time. Absolute zero chance. Who would fund his wage? . Haha.

13 Nov 2019 11:20:24
Drugs are bad lol.

13 Nov 2019 11:42:06
Can’t believe am responding to this but it’s a rumour page so you can put what you want. Anyway he is heading back to Italy it’s a choice of 3 clubs AC Milan, Napoli and Bologna.

13 Nov 2019 12:06:42
Irocksatibrox, it is never happening, he will be back at AC Milan when his contact runs out in 6 months, secondly he is now 38 years old, we will go for another Morelos type player who is young and doing well at a lesser club in a decent enough league, this will be next summer though as I can't see Freddo going before then.

13 Nov 2019 16:28:53
Andy09 he’s past it? No chance why are these high profile Italian teams looking at him if we got him it would be IMO, One of our greatest ever signings but it’s a mute point we’d never attract his profile of player.

13 Nov 2019 18:27:32
No the day mate!

13 Nov 2019 20:04:14
Anyone that watched zlatan recently would not wish we sign him on a free transfer or not!

12 Nov 2019 09:33:01
Talk of docherty moving on in January. The guy has clearly not made the grade ( never thought he would) these rangers FB pages are mad. Guys sayin we should accept no less than 5 million for him. He cannot get near the team and is like 7th choice mid. Half a mill or so and he will be off to a bottom half championship side. Also seen this morning if kamara moves on they may move for ferguson.

12 Nov 2019 09:42:19
Wish docherty all the best. He has played for the club he loves. But unfortunately o where near standard required.

12 Nov 2019 10:12:30
A superb move if Docherty goes to the championship , just look at John Fleck .

12 Nov 2019 10:36:21
Agreed wish Docherty all the best if he moves. Kamara on the other hand why he would want to go to the championship with Leeds when he can be competing for leagues and cups also playing in Europe with us is beyond me. Unless it's all about chasing cash he would be better staying put.

12 Nov 2019 12:16:45
Bit harsh on Docherty in here - he's never been given a sustained chance, and yet had better stats last season than Aribo (who I guess IS good enough? ) for a worse team in the same division. I don't think he's not good enough, I think he's just not one Gerrard likes. It happens - there are players the manager just never takes to, and I think Docherty is one of them.

12 Nov 2019 13:37:36
I think he has the potential and engine to get into the team some day.

But its not fair to keep him here as he needs game time in order to develop.

He needs to go but I'd have a decent sell on clause in any deal.

12 Nov 2019 14:06:43
This post is a bit unfair on Doherty tbh. His situation is basically down to SG's realisation (like many before him), that the Glasgow gold fish bowl is no place to nurture and develop players. Every game is a must win and therefore the manager can't afford to take chances on untested players.

he also has a lot of experience and quality on the bench, players like Defoe. Therefore even when we are comfortably beating teams, these players get their minutes topped up to keep them sharp.

I think like most young players at Rangers (unless they are exceptional), they will need to cut their teeth by going out on loan. Hopefully he can do that in January and come back ready to stake a claim in the future.

If he doesn't succeed then everyone will wish him well but I wouldn't say he isn't good enough because he hasn't had a chance yet.

12 Nov 2019 14:45:25
It’s a shame young Doc can’t get a chance. he's unlucky that our midfield is so strong but I don’t think the boy Ferguson is that much of an upgrade on him.

12 Nov 2019 15:12:49
Just my opinion guys. When he originally signed never thot he would cut it. what is he 23 or 24? By now if he was going to be in the plans he would be by now. Better personally for him to move on and play regular football.

12 Nov 2019 15:21:16
@zikos I get your logic but he's 22 and basically the same age as Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo and Joe Aribo (just turned 23) who Stevie's quite happy to select?

Not sure that's the reason at all.

12 Nov 2019 16:23:03
Not overly keen to sell but if we do then I'd expect a mil for him if we have a decent contract on him. I think what he needs is games.
Is he good enough for us? good question and I think he may be in time, but maybe not in the style SG needs at moment.
A mil to a champ side isn't much.

12 Nov 2019 17:27:14
He's not any better than what we already have and if we want to improve then we need need better than what we have. At his age he should be knocking on the door and challenging which he isn't, sadly I think this is down to the fact that he just isn't good enough. Wish him all the best. 👍.

12 Nov 2019 18:13:58
Tend to agree cold, re Docherty, I feel same will happen to Ross McCrorie.

12 Nov 2019 18:58:59
Yea young Docherty cost us just over half a mill we need to getting near that back mcrorrie season is not going as well as he would like you imagine any fee would be minimal.

12 Nov 2019 19:54:31
@rfcrb I don’t think it’s a fair comparison tbh. Doherty is competing with experienced internationals for a starting place. When Kent was brought in last year he didn’t have any competition for a starting place and therefore played every week even when off form. That could have been due to lack of competition or a clause in the loan deal that said he had to play x amount of games.

And the same could be said if Ojo. Personally like the boy but don’t think he is good enough to get a game atm. If he was a Rangers player and didn’t have any playing clauses I don’t think he would be near the squad.

I think given a sustained chance the boy would come good. You only have to look at Barry Ferguson who was extremely close to leaving before Advocaat arrived and game him his chance as an example of how fortunes in football can change so quickly.

12 Nov 2019 20:36:51
Mac bow, Leeds rumour 3 million.

12 Nov 2019 23:05:30
Like many others before him, Docherty has found the final step up too high. He's a decent player who will make a good living at the game, but not here. I also believe he will be better than 'lower half championship' and I wish him well.

12 Nov 2019 23:25:09
Looks likely john👍.

12 Nov 2019 23:26:58
Docherty could be anything hard to judge not had a run of games to judge him just the odd sub appearance few months back.

12 Nov 2019 23:28:46
so if kamara goes wouldn't Docherty be back up.

13 Nov 2019 05:26:09
Eric if kamara went he would still then be 6th choice. And then back to 7th if rumours are true about lewis ferguson coming in for kamara.

13 Nov 2019 06:58:03
Did Excellent last year out on loan in league one . Played in the same league as Aribo and had better stats playing for a worse side. I personally think the wee man has something about him but for some reason SG just doesn’t like him, could be a personality thing .
What’s he worth the now? Maybe 1M? I think loan him out again to a championship club and if he stands out like he did last year in league1 then you could be asking for 5mill in the summer .
Or loan him to the sheep for 6months as part of a deal for Lewis Ferguson maybe then Aberdeen will at least have a player that will try against the manky mob.

13 Nov 2019 14:41:24
Am I the only few that wants Docherty to stay? If we get around 2m for him then fine (it's what he is worth) Maybe some day he will return and prove a point!

13 Nov 2019 20:07:40
Docherty and Aribo are not good enough! Although Aribo is the more skilful of the two.

13 Nov 2019 21:26:33
It’s strange someone posted that the “ Glasgow goldfish bowl is nowhere to play youth, well selling have been doing that for years, have they not

Tommy.

14 Nov 2019 12:19:56
I'd probs be wanting somewhere in the region of 1m for Docherty even if he isn't in the picture. Or a smaller fee with a large sell on.

16 Nov 2019 15:27:21
@daisy yore:

the 'final step up'?! - he's playing in the same division we signed him from, the SPL! Did great in this division for Hamilton, that's why we signed him. He has absolutely never been given a chance to actually show if he's good enough for Rangers or not, not under this manager.

It's ridiculous to criticise his ability when he's made next to no starts under Gerrard.
