I think rangers have a good lot of targets javi gaurera, maven celik all seen them on YouTube and what great feet they have and plus Sandaza !!

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Guerra! Lol sorry, a good few ppl been sayin it wrong mate, nothin personal.

Agree2 Disagree5

Lmao sorry it's this iPad has a spell check on it :(

Agree6 Disagree1

Poster is Correct the vidoe and im not a fan of videos but the lad looks good

Agree2 Disagree2

Liked the look of our targets in Summer but who signed? Can't believe some people are falling for all this nonsense again

Agree7 Disagree1

Thats my worry previous poster,im not too expectant to be honest.i hope for allys sake that he gets the backing he deserves and gets a few in.if theres any money to spend that is!
drumlad

Agree3 Disagree0

You could sign 4 players for Ł10mill each who all turn out to be duds or you could sign 4 players for Ł1mill combined who could all do well. I never judge players til they've played for Rangers, we've signed plenty of players on the cheap who've more than done a job at Rangers in the past and as you all know, we've had plenty of big money duds, so just trust in who we bring in and support the team. I've still not gave up on the summer "flops", they've still to prove themselves.

Agree5 Disagree2

The two posters before last are spot on: it's all spin.

In my opinion the only player that has any chance of signing from that lot is Sandaza. He's having a good season and would do a job but I think the others are just names thrown in there to appease the fans.

Let's be honest foreign names bring about a sense of excitement that there's a gem on the way. SPL players rarely bring about the same response and sometimes met with hostility or disappointment for whatever reason (e.g. Mulgrew who by all accounts has turned out to be a good signing for Celtic but it wasn't a popular one at the time).

Truth is if they're really that good there's a good chance they won't be affordable or there'll be competition from other clubs in better leagues.

Would be really interesting to take a list of names linked with any club during a transfer window via all the usual media outlets and work out how many on the list actually sign. I bet it's something like 1 or 2 out of possibly more than 100.

News:

Some more news coming out of Rangers, and Ally McCoist has confirmed the club have rejected two offers for midfielder Maurice Edu. Sochaux are thought to be the ones chasing the USA international but McCoist says the interest 'is over' as far as he's concerned.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Thank f*** all you Edu haters look around, who or what have we to replace him. Must be hard to play for a support who turn up for 80 minutes and dont support the team. We dont know what the f***s going on with our team so to lose a player for less money than we paid for him is obscene, we do it all the time and our neighbours turn shxtx into sugar at present Edu is our best midfielder never hides, more to worry about nobody wants to sign for us and our young players want to leave when they have a chance to establish themselves at a club riddled with problems on and off the park. To the Rangers family i say this keep believing we have to. We are and have been facing a uncertain future for years now. All the cowards have left and we are in the sxit i wish and hope Craig White can pull a rabbit out of the hat and surprise us all. I hope this new year will be a defining moment in our Great clubs history , which our children and grand children will enjoy reading .

Highland Bear Rangers till i die

Agree26 Disagree8

Highland bear. u r a true rangers fan. nt one u seems to just turn up-shout abuse then go home. completely agree about edu. even in his really bad spell he nvr moaned and he admitted he wasnt playing well enough. but he nvr sulked or let his head go down. and now i dont think there has been a more consistent midfielder this season at ibrox. he even plays a more holding role so davis can get forward. nt his real position

Agree16 Disagree5

I really like Edu and he will always be a memorable player to me for scoring the winner in injury time at my first ever Old Firm game! He's very underrated and although he went through a bad patch he has undoubted talent.

Agree14 Disagree4

For the record, I dont have anything against big Mo I do understand his place in breaking up opponents play and appreciate a runner when I see one. Edu is however a football player and football players should be able to pass the ball without giving it away, its all well getting the ball but if you cant then keep it or pass it then there is very little use to you as a player. In the last few games to be fair he has gone through the games without making big blunders and has actually made a difference at points but im sorry every other game this season and last he gave away the ball countless times a match and spent more time on his arse than on his feet. Personally I think if we can get 1.5 million for him I would take it because I wouldnt pay that for him. I would then start playing players that could actually distribute the ball and maybe we can win by more than one goal.

Agree3 Disagree10

Mabi the fans should chant his name again he seemed amazin while we were doin tht give the guy sum backin instead of abuse every wan shud get behind the team u watch the home games and it just silence not good but the away games they dont stop lol

AIRDRIE BEAR

Agree14 Disagree1

Edu hides for most of the game and if we get the sniff of a million take it with both hands

Agree1 Disagree14

Edu is a confidence player, in a team with the worst fans possible, unforgiving unsupporting, uninterested and abusive. Just how the hell is he supposed to improve with that cr@p going on around him.
I play regularly and I too am not blessed with technique or skill, but I know my abilities and I play to them with support around me. We can't all be world beaters and I'm sure most of the complainers in the stands have 2 left feet. Constructive criticism is one thing, some times a bad game for a player should be highlighted but constant bull is waste of everyone's time.

GET OFF HIS BACK OR GET TAE.....

GDog
WATP

Agree13 Disagree0

You have to be joking. "Edu hides". I think your getting him mixed up with davis. I'm not Edu's biggest fan from a footballing point of view as i don't think he has good enough control and range of passing but football is a team game and he definetely does a good job for us. Ask yourself how much Edu would be worth if he could take the ball in like wee Davis and spray it about. You would have to say he would be a 10 million pound player.

Agree5 Disagree2

Edu is critical for rangers at the moment no wonder ally wants to keep him hes strong good passer lacks pace tbh but is a key player at times

bluebean

Agree6 Disagree0

Totally agree all this edu`s pash, he`s murder is all balls, we are far better when he plays he`s a good player who gets used as a scape goat, davis has been pish lately but hardly anyone will say it, if we let mo leave we will have another adam like situation- he`s been our top performer the last few weeks along with fleck and aluko

Celtic fan here and i've come in peace.I heard a rumour today that your management team haven't been paid since September but they are willing to wait on their wages for time being.I don't know if it's true or not but in my opinion i think it's BS.Has anyone else heard of this rumour?

Jungle Bhoy.

Believable9 Unbelievable29

Nah not heard anything at all bout that.

Agree5 Disagree5

In our current situation its not unlikely but i think we would have heard of this through other outlets

Agree4 Disagree6

That's a old rumour.

Agree3 Disagree6

DId you not put the same post on a few weeks ago???? load of b****cks if you ask me.

Agree8 Disagree5

Eh, but there gonna splash out Ł2 million on Johnny Russell - what a load of old tosh!! Theres not a team like the Glasgow Rangers - how true !!

west brom say they will not be signing a striker this window thats one less team out of the jelly race.

13 Jan 2012 19:27:43
Did I hear right that Sandaza has rejected a pre contract?

Believable12 Unbelievable13

Do you think he has done that to persuade the gers to make a January move for him?

Agree5 Disagree7

Good he's not rangers class...instead off buying these dross players we should be giving the young players a chance to show what they can do.

Agree9 Disagree5

So in the current climate, who exactly is ''Rangers class'' then, gimme some names...

Agree5 Disagree0

Edu,broadfoot,mcculloch,weir,aluko,healy,shall i continue?

Agree4 Disagree7

Not sure why Aluko's being mentioned. He's a great player and I'd happily have had him in my squad 5/6 years ago when we had real talent.

Agree12 Disagree3

^^what when Paul Le Guen was manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

What aluko would of been 16 0r 17 back then so doubt it

Agree1 Disagree0

You got to be kidding me you
Name Davie weir as not being rangers class the guy is 41 has made one mistake since
We signed him against septic , we won the league with him at cb and no one complained then will be in the hall of fame one day one of Walter smith best bit of business in the transfer market

Agree6 Disagree0

Agree with above the guys well past it, he was well past it when he came but big davie has alot of steel, reads the game well and done a great job- i wish we got him years ago-he would be an all time great! but now he`s to old been a great servant and will make a top class coach i hope its with us

News:
Rangers' interest in signing Arsenal teenager Benik Afobe on loan cooled after the striker picked up an injury, according to manager Ally McCoist.

He has had an injury for months

mc gregor is out of tomorrows game

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Good job we have two reliable great goalies, nobody is a patch on McGregor but Alexander will step in and do his job right i'm sure.

WATP

Agree13 Disagree5

A thought Alexander didnt get enough credit in our euro run in 2008. Thought he was outstanding and stepped up to the mark, excellent stand in keeper.

Dtp89

Agree13 Disagree5

Aye and also made a few massive boo boo's Falkirk comes to mind. leethepee.

Agree7 Disagree3

Haha aye Nate a won't deny he's made a few fk ups, bit rusty that's all, he proved he can be good when he gets a run at it but.

Agree5 Disagree3

He has made just as many f*** ups as shagger

Agree5 Disagree3

Not a great fan of Alexander too prone to mistakes. Falkirk one was awful and the one against Hamburg was shocking too. 2 games 2 awful mistakes not good

Agree6 Disagree1

Shagger made a couple of howlers this season but he won us so many games and indeed the title last season but the howlers with Alexander are regular.

Agree4 Disagree1

That's what happens when you don't get enough game experience.

In:

Mervan Celik will sign by tomorrow

Jaager has been taking on trial

Sandaza will sign for £300,000

Guerra will sign for £2.25m

Out:

Nikica Jelavic £7.75m

Maurice Edu £1.2m

Alejandro Bedoya Loan to Bristol City

Believable10 Unbelievable24

Celik will probably go for the Turkey move considering his parents are Turkish plus Turkish clubs offer higher wages. Sandaza won't be signing this season. We will drop interest in Guerra. We would never get even close to that for Jelavic, especially after his recent performances and Edu's ankles are so far up Ally's hoop he'll not be wanting him to go anywhere,

Agree10 Disagree7

Can we not get at least what we paid for Edu,if we are letting him go?I would try and hold out for about Ł4 million for him.He is in his prime, and is a USA international.Who has played in the world cup.Why are we willing to let him go on the cheap? We should hold out and get what he is worth. We have devolped him more than Toronto ever did.Ally

Agree6 Disagree6

I know youtube can make even bedoya & ortiz look like superstars but this boy celik looks the type of player rangers have been crying out for. he has pace, he's direct, skillful, provides good ammunition for strikers and also chips in with some goals.

Agree5 Disagree3

No i think you'll find Edu is so far up Ally's hoop he can see the soles of McCulloch's feet

Agree6 Disagree4

Mate have a look at matt McKay, he looks sh1t hot on YouTube.

Agree11 Disagree0

Matt McKay is actually good just he hasnt been given the chance cause mccoist is always picking edu. The game at ibrox against dundee united where mckay started, he played really well, was always finding his man with his passes and put in an outstanding cross for jelavic goal

Agree11 Disagree3

Celik wont be in tomorrow as mccoist said in todays press conference, it is not imminent

Agree6 Disagree2

A wrote the McKay-YouTube post. To the guy who said he is good, yep a would agree I think he's a good player n needs some games.

Dtp89

Agree5 Disagree2

Cellik is Kurdish , Not Turkish, BIG difference, no love lost there. But money talks!

Agree5 Disagree5

His parents are Turkish.

Agree3 Disagree2

What do you mean BIG difference? There is no country called Kurd...its a region called Kurdistan which is in TURKEY

Agree3 Disagree1

Dont know what you mean by BIG difference? there is no one country where Kurds are from, its a region which is part of Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria. His parents are from the Kurdish reigion of Turkey so yes his parents are Kurdish but from Turkey.

Agree2 Disagree0

Why would guerra be sold for 2.25m when he has a 5m release clause?

Agree4 Disagree0

I can't understand why McKay hasn't been given a chance at Rangers. He is a regular in a national team that is far superior to Scotland yet is over looked each week. As for Edu can't believe he gets a game. Does nothing but run about all game and contributes next to nothing. McCoist making a rod for his own back wanting to give him another contract. Best thing take the money offered and get rid of this underachiever

Agree4 Disagree4

Guerra can be sold for whatever his club wants to sell him for. The 5 million release clause ONLY means that if chelsea want to buy him (or any other team obviously) they cant hold out for 10 million if he's playing fantastic. The offer has to be accepted, although they can accept lower bids.

And no, i dont understand why they do this as they are shooting themself in the foot (as we did with Cuellar)

Update:

Gaziantepspor are battling with Rangers to land Swedish Under-21 international striker Mervan Celik.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Well here hoping he wants to win trophies instead of the wages can't see it though

Agree5 Disagree3

He has Turkish parentage, so that'll probably factor into going to Turkey over Scotland.

Agree7 Disagree3

Grasshopper are not Turkish, they are a Swedish team.Turks can offer good money. So I hope that none of there teams are sniffing around him.The thing is that a lot of there teams, want to pay players. When they get injured out there.Look what happened to Stewart, who was at Hearts. He is still waiting for cash owed to him.And so is Kris Boyd,he was lucky enough to get most off it up front though.Ally

Agree2 Disagree1

He never said grasshopper and they are swiss not swedish

daviebhoy08

Agree8 Disagree2

Aye, I didn't mention Grasshopper you nugget. If you're gonna split hairs don't pick a bald heid.

Agree2 Disagree2

Read all the posts - someone said Grasshopper and daviebhoy08 replied to them.

Agree2 Disagree2

I think he means... GAIS? which is a team from Gothenburg which is in Sweden... its the only thing i can think of but GAIS are from Sweden, Grasshoppers from Switzerland and Gaziantepspor are from Turkey...

I know Youtube can make anyone look incredible or if desired, make them look terrible and I'm not jumping on this new Celik bandwagon. However, I'm liking the look of him. Had never heard of him before until I read his name on here. So, no nothing about him. Looks good though.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

You tube made sebo look like messi so you can't get carried away with it. However I did look at him and the boy's no scared to run at folk. Fast way tricky feet. Not costing much he might be worth a punt.

Super ally said they have offered sandaza a pre contract and he has spoke with Steve lomas about this but would not say if the rangers would try and get him in this window due to the game on Saturday but said after the game we will get more news

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I would get sandaza in just now. if ally rates him then we need strikes in if jelavic leaves. i only hope that there isn't a situation where we dont sign a striker and jelavic is sold on the last day of the transfer window. we need at least 2 strikers and a creative midfielder. a wide player would also help- perhaps thats stretching it a bit!

Agree0 Disagree3

Sandaza has knocked it back .

Agree6 Disagree2

13 Jan 2012 13:07:13
Summary: pre-contract offer to Sandaza | Jaager on trial | offer made to Celik | no O'Connor interest | nothing on Afobe| no Jelaavic bids.
FF81

Believable11 Unbelievable3

I very much like the look of this Swedish winger, he seems a good goalscorer for a winger.

Agree8 Disagree1

I dont think he is a winger, i think he is more an attacking mid, seems to get a lot of goals but so did bedoya and mckay...i like the idea of jaager

Agree2 Disagree4

Afobe is injured. move looks unlikely now. jaager on trial from monday, sandaza approached with pre contract and offer made for celik (sounds too much like the foes name haha) . stevie bear

Agree2 Disagree0

I can picture the chants.... Theres only one Celik in scotland!! We love you Celik we do lol Lets hope we sign him but... bags of goals for club & country and can operate on either side of MF and play just off the striker also.

Agree4 Disagree2

I think rangers should forget about going for Sandaza and instead go a bosnian free agent Zlatan Muslimovic he looks alot better than Sandaza hes real quick on the ball he would be awesome up front with Jelavic

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2012 12:59:31
Did Ally pinpoint these three players Jaager, Afobe And Celik or is this another case of the coaching staff being TOLD these are the ones I (being Mr Smith who no one knows what I do) want you to work with cause I think there affordable and I think they might do but if they don't then Ally will carry the can for his whims

Believable4 Unbelievable1

In think there all smith targets,i remember when he came back he said he had a good knowledge of the player markets thru being an agent.i think thats why ally dnt play bedoya, mckay or ortiz.when they signed smith wz the front man especially with bedoya

Agree3 Disagree3

On newsnow allys said bout them n has offered some contracts awready like sandaza on a precontract n a offer been made on mervan celik fur 7k a week n would only cost us 240.000 fur training compensation.. if he's as gd as there maken out should grab it .bevster1690

Agree0 Disagree1

Badoya was a target of walter smiths when he was at rangers but missed out on him so I dont think thats Gordon smiths doing.

Agree3 Disagree2

What absolute p!sh you are all talking!!

GDog
WATP

Agree1 Disagree1

What you on about, Ortiz was heavily involved when he was signed! How do you think we came to such a solid conclusion that he's definitively atrocious!

Agree4 Disagree2

Gerry amstrong told us that ortiz would offer us nothing was he not right, makes you sick..........

Agree5 Disagree0

Ortiz has two games at fullback behind closed doors and by all accounts has done well, I keep harping on about this, but that's where he played when we bought him - why not give him a run now that Whitty is out for 6 weeks

Pete

Agree3 Disagree3

He was a full back in spain, its obvious he's no going to do any good as a winger, but he could do a job at the back. c'mon lets get behind ally and the boys 4 in a row!!

Marven Celik.... watch this name.

Believable14 Unbelievable2

He sound a good player on paper lots of potential few decent clubs after him and only need to pay 100k compo for him suits us right down to the ground

Agree3 Disagree3

It's Marvin. Don't think it will happen. Heard from someone in the know.

Agree2 Disagree8

Watch this name sounds like ur tryn to take credit mate, most people know the name noo as most people have read todays papers

Agree4 Disagree2

Rangers sign....... Celtik?!?
Can't really see it myself to be honest boss! :-)

Agree2 Disagree6

Hes sound a good player did we not think bedoya sounded a good player cant even get a chance in the team ? both from the swedish league

Agree4 Disagree1

No it's Mervan

Agree9 Disagree0

It's Marvan

Agree3 Disagree3

To all those muppets saying marvin celik your wrong its MERVAN CELIK ffs

Agree3 Disagree1

I dont think it matters if its mervin marvin marvan or mervan, it will still say celik on his shirt so it is totally pointless arguing about his 1st name really isnt it.

Agree5 Disagree1

I know rangers fans are like ffs whats rangers thinking about with that name but all that matters hes not connected to celtic and if we get him lets hope he does well along with jaager if we get them both well lets hope the signings that we do get do great

Rangers have held talks over a move for Swedish Under-21 international Mervan Celik, according to reports in his homeland.

The player, an attacking midfielder who can play on either wing, is a free agent having left GAIS under freedom of contract.

Reports in Sweden state Celik has received a contract offer from the SPL club, which would see him paid £7,000 a week at Ibrox.

Rangers would be required to pay training compensation to GAIS to land the 21-year-old, who has spent the last four years with the Gothenburg-based side.

Turkish side Gazientepspor are also keen on the Swede and his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, says Celik will decide his next move shortly.

“Mervan will take a decision on the future of the next few days,” Cetinkaya told Sport-Expressen.

“Right now there are two clubs that there is between, but I do not want to comment on any club's name at the moment.”

Celik scored 14 goals in 27 appearances for GAIS last campaign, his fourth full season with the club. In total, he played 68 times, finding the net 18 times.

He has been consistently linked with a move away from Sweden over the last year, with a number of clubs, including Middlesbrough and Genoa, being attributed with an interest.

Celik, who is of Kurdish origin, also played youth football with IF Warta and BK Hacken before signing for GAIS in 2007.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

"dont want to comment on any clubs name at the moment" are we sure? blueforyou.

Agree1 Disagree1

Smashing a player called Celik joing Rangers you couldnt make it up

Agree4 Disagree2

Really...his name is Celik!
Surely if the Swedish U21 player was of a good standard and he was on a free then Johan Mjallby would have been having a quiet word in his ear...dont you think?

Agree4 Disagree2

So if you are swedish Rangers can't sign them? Whats wrong with Bjorklund having a word? Not all Northern Irish sign for Rangers i.e Neil Lennon, Not all English sign for Rangers, i.e Gary Hooper get the idea?

Agree3 Disagree2

To quote - "Really...his name is Celik!
Surely if the Swedish U21 player was of a good standard and he was on a free then Johan Mjallby would have been having a quiet word in his ear...dont you think?"

So what you are saying is that all the players in Sweden who haven't been snapped up by Celtic aren't good enough because "Big Johan" hasn't tipped Celtic off about them?

Why are we taking a chance that Sandaza will bite us on Saturday. If we are to sign him why has it not been done already. Is whyte going to wait until we are out of the league as he did with the champions league and Europa league in the summer, before signing anybody.
I know we have no money but it is £300 k we are talking about. Surely things cannot be that bad,

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Ano mate, am keepin faith through loyalty but the guy does a fair bit of fkn about. Ye never know till yer his shoes but.
Dtp89

Agree3 Disagree1

Think Sandaza is trying to get the transfer fee together he has applied to wonga etc but they keep knocking him back as it is not a secure position.

Ian

Agree6 Disagree1

We will sign him, but only when he is out if contract, we are not spending in transfer fees that much is obvious going by the morning papers it's now out of contract players we are linked with, and the press talking them up adding in words like ace and internationalist if that is supposed to impress us. Remind you if anyone, say McKay and he doesn't even play. Blue4ever

Agree2 Disagree0

This is the usual with Rangers, they know he's doing well & let it be know that they are interested in him but actually they're not, this way he won't try his hardest on saturday for fear he could scupper his chances, well that's what i think anyway, lol.

Agree3 Disagree3

When a said he f***s about a ment whyte not sandaza.
Dtp89

Agree1 Disagree1

Ah at last the lights come on. Yes things are that bad, Aluko paying his own fees, Bain ringfencing money, late late late payment of bills, sheriff officers serving notices by hand at Ibrox. How much worse does it need to get before people start admitting the truth?

Agree5 Disagree6

Ask Mr Murray to what the truth is! Whyte is trying to clear up the mess! And thats nonsense about blaming whyte for champions league and europa league failure, the players we had should have been good enough for that. blame them and the manager for that

Agree6 Disagree3

Whyte new what he was getting so stop all this it was the last board or owner it is all down to whyte. Rangers football Club owe him 18 MILLION POUNDS.The TAX MAN 49 MILLION POUNDS and now his wife wants PAYMENT, where will it end with this Man?

Agree0 Disagree1

How can the tax bill be down to Whyte? That's possibly the most stupid comment on these boards. You can't hold him responsible for what the previous regime did. The tax bill relates to possible non payments from 1999-2003.

They've apparently been saying that he's their no.1 target? Can't be that serious if their giving up after that offer

Regardless of what you might think about the quality of Edu he is a regular player for the USA and played well in the last World Cup. To let him go for less than we paid for him would be criminal.
