Just seen the new Rangers chairman on Rangers Tv, thought he spoke honestly and certainly gave the impression he wouldn't stand for anything other than total transparency , Rangers season ticket holder with previous experience with Manchester united , don't know where his season ticket was for but it certainly wasn't in the comfy seats, loved the quote " I'm a blue nose not a blue knight"

Believable26 Unbelievable12

Dont trust the guy never heard of him was Craig Whyte not a blue nose as well. Its time to stick by true Rangers men not some charlatans who have turned up out the blue representing mystery investors!

I have to say that today I was over the moon with the Walter bid. My initial thought was that I want Walter back. However I must also say that I watched Green tonight and must say I am quite impressed by him and also the new chairman. I actually think that Green does deserve credit after all he was the one that stepped up, I genuinely believe he wanted a CVA and put up more money to make that happen. With the distinct possibility that we could be in div three, and with no European income for three years, it was a surprise that he didn't walk away, I think most people think that he would have, but he didnt, he has stuck to his word. To hear him being booed today was sad, I don't think he deserves that.
He has made mistakes, the talk of transfer targets was at best badly timed not to mention the thoughts of clubs that we owed money to, that must have pussed them off, and we are relying on these same people to keep us on SPL. Not clever!
He also does himself no favours when quoting investors who immediately deny the story. With all the lies we have had over years we want the truth, the whole truth.
It should also be said that Walters bid, let's be honest it's Jim McColls money, but they clearly waited until the dirty work had been done before making a move. Jim McColl is worth over £1b, last year alone his wealth increased by £200m, what is £6m or £10m or £20m to him. It really is loose change, why only now?
I would prefer Walters team simply because we need good Rangers men in there and better the devil you know, but Green is the owner and if truth be told he has not done much wrong, he must be pissed that he has kept us going in some form and yet he is taking the flak, I feel it is a bit unfair, and he is suffering because of lies told by previous owners and he has nothing to do with that.
I hope that either he agrees to sell or some involvement with Walters group can be achieved but hope that green is not abused because he does not deserve it.

Agree0 Disagree0

You should have learned . Murray was worth 750m but couldnt stump up 18m to pay llloyds. 6m to buy rangers now where did we hear that before ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said fellow bear where was these old guard when they could have saved us from liquidation sitting on there a..es not giving a dam if they all invested in the club they could have paid some of these debts back to companys that lost out and the other football clubs owed money to jump in at the last minute was a disgrace and is stirring up more trouble where are the sorrys or apology to ticketus creditors etc nothing has been said as a bear im totally appalled and ashamed what the club has done but to come in after the dirty work has been done to save the old guards egos and sod the creditors is a downright disgrace no wonder every club wants our newco punished no wonder we are hated so much greed greed greed for g ds sake give mr green a chance we need a total clear out any views fellow bears ?

Agree0 Disagree0

So the lesson's of the last 6 months go ignored! Having avoided paying your debts, already forgotten, Walter and a Billionare would will give Charles green his pay day because it will still be a bargain? They get a debt free club for 15million, bargain!!!

They have avoided the shame of being at the helm when Rangers died and now they want to take the glory with The Rangers as a newco. No doubt offering the players incentives to stay, courtesy of your actual Billionare.

The only thing they've forgot? The average fan in Scotland would now rather let the game die than allow this immoral and outrageous chardade to be played out as all you 'the rangers' (youve yet to be given a nickname - the tax dodgers would fit) fans and money men attempt to threaten your way back into the spl. The clubs been found out, and you keep coming back to give us more of the same!

Of course the SFA may still find the nuts to do what the rest of football knows it should, but I won't hold my breath.

On the up, I'll get to save myself £30 a month and get a nice new virgin tevo box!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but there all init for money. The CVA was never going to be accepted and Liquidation was the plan from the start. no one with any savy up top would have put in a decent bid to buy rangers with the debt they had/have just to lose out. This is why walter and co have left it till the bitter end to try and grab a bargin with good intentions of being rangers men. I reckon Green will sell to the Walter consortium for around 15m as the abuse from fans and no money comming into the club from ticket sales, other club boycotting if rangers get into spl wont be worth the hassle.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason Walter has left it so long is simple. Financially it makes more sense to bid for Rangers after liquidation. It would have taken multi-millions to stop Rangers going under. A CVA would never ever have been agreed by HMRC under any circumstances. The only way out of this mess would have been to pay ALL debts in full, which was just not possible given the unknown amounts from the BTC. Therefore liquidation was and is the best viable route to save our club. Many of you are slating CW for what he has done to the club but this would have happened no matter who was at the helm. He has just highlighted the state we are in and brought it to a head. I would love to see Walter back at Ibrox but Mr Green is right, its time for all who are interested in saving this club, to step up and pay what they can. Its time to unite

Agree0 Disagree0

I am no genius but I would think liquidation is the best way. RFC remains & the past money men can be pursued. 3 or 4 years from now RFC will be situation normal - on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Murray was worth 750m but couldnt stump up 18m to pay llloyds"
--

What a strange comment, he was £850M in debt, but don't let the facts get in the way of your beliefs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gers1986

I think you need to take your head out clouds mate. Rangers men done this to us so why the drama for rangers men to come back in.

I want business men who can run a succesful business and build a succesful club

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter's late, late bid was all rather disappointing. Nobody's doubting he'll always be a Rangers legend but the offer was a bit of a joke as was the telling Green to step aside. Aye right, how likely was that?

And as for the story that just hours beforehand Ally discovered a plot that Green was about to dispose of him?

Well, does anybody out there actually believe it? Seriously?

Agree0 Disagree0

"I want business men who can run a succesful business and build a succesful club"
--

Problem is when they sell the club they pocket all the profits.

If Smith and co are in charge when they sell the club the profits go back into the club.

I know which I'd prefer, also the share issue would raise far far more money if the fans knew the profits were going to the club and some investor.

someone else posted this question, can any one answer this -----> Am i right in thinking BDO have the power to reverse the Green purchase if it's in the best interests of the creditors?
ie Walter's bid being higher?

Believable26 Unbelievable16

The assests have all been sold now to Green, BDO are only there now to liquidate the rest of the business. Smith and Co will now have to buy the assests off Green. This may cost alot more than 5.5m. In walter we trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

BDO have already stated they have no intention of interfering with CG and his bid for the assets . I fear Walter and his pals are too late which begs the question Why now ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Eh , I would certainly think they would ! The ball game has changed and here is a club free of debt and cleansed of future tax cases etc , the game has surely changed and they must now be worth a better figure .
Was there no some carry on that if the CVA wasny accepted then Whytes shares remained with him ?.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your a bit late in asking that question bdo where appointed today and they allowed it to go through so yesteday ( yes ) now ...NO

Agree0 Disagree0

I was under the impression that green hadn't purchased anything? Just a proposed promise by duff n duffer? The liquidators are now in charge of any dealings which concern rangers! So cheerio Mr.Green! Nice try though!

Agree0 Disagree0

No.greens in prime position.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ask yourself where was Walter when the real victims in all of this needed saving?

Nowhere to be seen.

As soon as the creditors have been stiffed he miraculously appears over the horizon like some kind of saviour.

He must have some front I will give him that, but in my opinion he should hang his head in shame at what he is trying to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets go back when mr green put up the money we were quite happy walter smith comes in in last minute and really unsettles the support what were the motives behind this the club was still going to liquidate anyway lets get right behind mr green and see how it pans out we dont need the old guard back they were part of the problem anyway the last thing we need is another new buyout get real fellow bears

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe Walter Smith and consortium planned the timing of their bid to put a spanner on the Green ownership by getting rangers fans not to renew their season tickets and therefore put pressure on Green to turn it over to them.

Agree0 Disagree0

At least mr green tried for a cva unlike mr smith nowhere to be seen over the last year im backing mr green our name has been tarnished forever im glad smith never got the new club

Agree0 Disagree0

Now smith is circling the wagons on the albion car park, telling everyone not to buy season books. if noone buys season books ,whats to stop green just selling everything off ( if he does own everything) to anyone( tesco, aldi, sport clubs pound stretchersstarbuck) but sir walters mob?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its still all cloak and dagger stuff the way things are going this newco wont get off the ground the same old spivs and dinasaurs no wonder we are a joke

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster is correct, For instance if i own a company and sell assets of that company to another of my companies at a knock down price before liquidators arrive these can be broght back into the liquidation process through the courts by the liquidators its a provision on law to stop exactly what greens trying to do, if 5.5m is a fair price for all the assets then it will stand.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason he has left it till now as he didnt wanna be the one to take us into liquidation but now tht has happened he wants to try and get proper rangers men runnin the club

Agree0 Disagree0

Where has Smith told anyone not to buy season ticket books? Your so pathetic some of you its hardly surprising we are continually left open to the CW of this world.

Yes Smith and McColl are late to the table the reason is simple, they like everyone else with any shred of common sense knew fine well the only option was liquidation.

So they waited, how any of you would rather CG is in charge is ridiculous.

In a few years both groups will float on AIM with a supporters buy out;

1. CG will split all the money between his creditors, that is the whole point of the purchase.

2. WS will take back their initial investment and the rest will go to the club.

Why can't you see that?

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2012 21:03:47
I would call on all true Rangers fans with an ounce of common sense to forget about the timing of Walter Smiths bid and ask themselves this: Given the absolutely torturous last couple of years culminating in the demise of our club, who do you believe to be the best man to take us forward from this point on? There have been many aspects of this whole saga that have both saddened and hurt me as a Rangers fan but none more so than the undeniable apathy shown by us the Rangers fans. Please Please Please realise that WE ARE, AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN RANGERS! and despite what Charles Green may believe, its not about what he or his consortium decide that will determine OUR future its about what we do from this point on. Without our support Rangers are nothing, and without our support whatever Legal documents that say he is the new owner mean nothing either. I very much doubt that Walter and his backers have ALL the Answers at this point but what i`m 100% certain of is that they will genuinely have the best interests of our club at heart. Without sounding like some rallying call to the masses, I would simply urge my fellow supporters to finally wake up and take action instead of sitting back and watching any more of this unfold like a bloody sitcom. This will probably stick in the throat of a lot of people, and its hard for me to admit, but if proof be needed we the supporters can affect what happens then we only need look back to the events outside Parkhead when Celtic fans undoubtedly got behind the right man for the job and ultimately changed their own future for the better. Charles Green is from Yorkshire and a quick google search of any the people named in his consortium this afternoon will tell you they have no connection with our club whatsoever. In contrast Walter Smith bleeds Rangers and has the backing of other high profile Rangers fans with proven business acumen.I fully expect this to roll on for some time longer now with todays news so I`ll end as I began and ask ALL Rangers fans who read this to use your common sense, listen to your instincts when you decide who to get behind.

Believable26 Unbelievable17

Spot on. We have all sat back and watched this unfold. The fans need to force greens hand. Let's do it and get behind Walter who is doing the right thing. Dont question the timing Liquidation was inevitable and you can't blame Walter and co for waiting. Move to the 3rd division, take our medicine and build the club up from grass roots.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post and thanks i see someone has hit the unbelievable button can he or she please explain we needed a leader now we have one we can trust walter will not do anything that is not in the imterest of the club i for one will not renew my two season tickets till green is out come on bears get of your a--es. And shout your support we can drag this great club back with walter at the helm we can do it BELIEVE

Agree0 Disagree0

Time to move on and start a fresh. We dont need Walter who played his part in taking us to where we are today. Greene was the only one willing to put the cash in and has taken the flack for liquidation which was inevitable. Get behind him or the club will die. That's what will happen if we all sit back and say we arent going to give you money or go to games. That's walking away. Rembember - we don't do that.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a season ticket holder of 27 years, I am gutted at what has happened. I smell a rat with Green, he has baggage and would'nt surprise me if he links with that scumbag W**te.

I urge all Rangers fans not to renew their season tickets as without our support he won't be around long. We need rangers men to the core to move us forward.

Stu

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate could not agree more I know who I am backing and I wont be buying a season ticket unless he is in charge and its NOT Charlie Green.

Gers1986

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said from the start I don't trust Green and hope one day, sooner rather than later, that Walter's consortium buys out Green's.

Expect Green to fight dirty. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he behind the rumour that Walter was a recipient of an EBT even after he'd left Rangers the first time around.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see a very unhealthy pattern developing here which could escalate into a full - blown civil war which could result in rangers old OR new dissappearing altogether. The signs are there . The newco is not even 24 hours old and there is major unrest .

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post mate .
Something strange that Duff and Phelps accept the first bid that comes through for Rangers assets . If I was a creditor I would be looking to get some money back and by offering the assets to 1 person then I would say that stinks . The club is a far better proposition now that it doesn't have any debt or the big tax case etc looming over it . In the event that the players can be brought over to the Newco then by the sale of MacGregor alone the 5.5 million could surely be recouped ?.
Think there's a few more scandals still being comitted at rangers as we speak .....but we're just a bunch of daft jocks so we'll no notice .

Agree0 Disagree0

What do we do,we know Walters bid is the true way for us all to follow, but again what do we do. If we are called upon we can muster thousands but we need leadership and "we will follow on"
This is the first positive thing in our favor since Febuary

Bertiboy watp

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not question the tiiming? Where were these people wjen our club was getting liquidated? Sittong on their hands?

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite simply in the interests of our great club we cannot miss this opportunity of backing Walter and his consortium...they did not want to be the ones to liquidate us....all Rangers men with money...too many inconsistencies from Green ala whyte! WATP we MUST back Sir Walter now get out there and be heard or we are gone!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter the saviour . . . . is this not a man who has known about our problems for years ??

Agree0 Disagree0

The watp attatude is what has stopped people investing in the old rangers time you lot took a walk we dont need you lets get behind the new club lets look forword not backwards real rangers fans dont walk away lets go into div3 get right behind mr green onwards and upwards

Agree0 Disagree0

You do have a good point but i would say take a hard look at Walter for he knew about the whole scam of what was going on and left to leave AM to deal with everything. and ask why now does he only come in at the end? to maybe score a point with the fans so he can live happy.
your legends all had a part and for most knew what was going on and said nothing(except for one who tried to shed light years back but was just put down by all your fans and legends), what needs to happen is clear all and start fresh with new ppl so the link to the corruptness/cheating will be shaded a little.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like celtic ?? keep us out your mess... firstly when fergus came in everyone got behind him and let him get on with it then invested in shares we didnt try to take over and chase everyone away or blame everyone else or threaten boycotts yous are just pure trouble

Agree0 Disagree0

Feet back on the ground please we are a new co with no league to play in,and dont start oh lets go to the EPL if they dont want us here-lets take what punishment is handed out keep our heads down and inch our way back in and up the league

Agree0 Disagree0

A newco has no chance without the full support of the fans, Green wll never persuade an investor to support the initial losses if the average attendances and season ticket sales fall.

I must warn all Rangers fans, your club could be back in admiistration before the new season ends, it will run out of working capital.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a true Rangers fan and will continue to support my team by renewing my season ticket.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not believe the CG consortium has the finances to support the losses of a newco. The financial consequences of a newco as against a CVA could be as high as 10 million per year. Green struggled to raise 5.5 million once the CVA was rejected, there will be no queue of investors willing to finance the inevitable losses. Smth & co realise this and fear Rangers newco will be in administration within a season.

Without the 100% support of the Rangers fans no newco will survive, this is why I believe Green must sell or another financial fiasco looms.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith was there when murray was running the club so in my book fresh start mean no smith

Agree0 Disagree0

What short memories most of you bears have. Wasn't "walter" in charge during most of these years when minty moonbeams was spending all those "tenners". i didnt hear him complaining when laudrop gazza etc were all signing on and or even questioning where the money was coming from to pay for these guys. where was "walter" and mccoll etc when green eventually put his money where his mouth was and gave you some sort of a club to support again oh i forgot probably sunning themselves abroad somewhere and not wanting to have their names cast in stone as the guys who liquidated your club. But guess what here they come on the white chargers wanting to be the new saviours once the dirty work has been done. You maybe dont know much about green but at least he was there at your darkest hour just as Fergus was there for us in our dark days. But now walter has surfaced its a case of get him in without even giving green a chance to show what he is made of. Shame on you and see where walter is when you are voted into the SFL league 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2012 21:03:43
what happens if Green gets so pissed off with the Rangers fans that he decides ..stuff the lot of you i tried but you didnt want me so I will take the loss and just break up Ibrox, training ground and sell the albion car park......in a way of saying you dont want me to have it well no one will.....how do you like them apples.....( he could also just sell car park and training ground make a profit and scrap Ibrox....JohnnyG

Believable9 Unbelievable20

Time and time again Greene and whyte not welcome at ibrox! End of.. no blood left we r bled dry!! W.a.t.p

Agree0 Disagree0

If we just sit and stay quiet he could let the rangers support rise a show him we dont want him no supporters no club god sake lets support our club go walter go for the first time in weeks im up and ready ill pay for my season tickets tomorrow if wa lter is involved if they play on the street ill stand on the pavement and support come on guy no more doom n gloom

Agree0 Disagree0

Do the assets of the old rangers not belong to the liquidators to be sold off to the highest bidder to clear the debts. i;M CONFUSED

Agree0 Disagree0

He's pretty much guaranteed to get a few million in the hipper if he pulls this stunt off . Now it's a feeding frenzy I expect he'll get the dunt and leave telling us he was misunderstood etc . For half of what he's getting I'd work 24/7 for the next few years .....ma wife hates me anyway so I know how it feels !

Agree0 Disagree0

Tic fan here . This is what should happen. The FANS should take over the club via a fans trust like Barca and green Bay Packers in the NFL . They should take a year out of scottish football to get all this sorted out. Get rid of all these spivs amd sharks who don1t give a f*** for rangers old or new . Where there is a will, there is a way

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point tic fan its time the rangers fans owned this newco the rangers football club is a trading name im even confused what the club will be called as a newco ? the support should own 51 percent of the shares very good point good post from a celtic fan above thanks mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post last respondent. We have more in common than our differences. All the best in The champions' league. We all know it's up to us and you to keep our nation's neck above water when it comes to "the coefficient". All the diddy team heroes who want the death of Rangers are most welcome to what's left- f**k all. Enjoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Greene can't just decide to sell anything. How many shares does he own? No more than 15% so unless he has the agreement of the other shareholders he can't do this

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the loss break everything up and walk away... LOL

He's a buisness man he's there to make money. Not every 1 has a bitter little mind like you, know 1 likes me ill lose money and break it up just to show them..
He's already stated he'll be there less than a year. After less than 24 hours he wants 15million min to sell. The newco will be sold very soon with a nice earner for the investers. He never wanted a cva why talk about transfer targets money to spend while trying to get creditors to accepts pennies. Game plan always liquidation. Not a bad earner treble youre investment in less than a year. 5.5 million to buy the assets just on a par with what duff & phelps fees will be.
No buisness man would have bought rangers with the debt even a cva agreed the club would have to have been financially supported for years to come. Jim McColl suddenly wants to invest now a debt free newco with no liabilities..

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2012 20:55:21
awrite ed i'm a celtic fan and can't believe what i'm reading how can the rangers fans want walter smith back, was he not the manager when all these ebt's happened not sayin he had 1 but do u not think its time to move on from all the old guard that run this club into the mess its in.i honestly believe celtic need rangers long term. all this talk about not turning up to support the team is a joke what happened to not walking away, u should back your club through good and bad times and not throw the toys out the pram. walter smith always demanded money when the club sold cueller a time they could have sorted some other money troubles out but he wasted money on the likes of edu. why not give green a go u will be back in spl in no time whos gonna stop u's ayr utd or partick thistle? but teams like this might if u's don't back them. so give the guy your backing and a chance

Believable21 Unbelievable19

Ur right ur not a rangers fan so you would never understand why a lot of us would choose walter over some fly by night character like Charles green!

Agree0 Disagree0

What does EBT have to do with this Rangers have not even been found guilty of using them. Ebt had nothing to do with Walter?
So why not follow him i would rather follow him than Green and so will the masses.
Tom Hunter is on board and has a personal fortuine of 800 million what does Green have to offer? Lets look back at the last football club he had and what the suporters had to say about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter Smith was never in charge of Rangers when the EBT scheme was on the go it was for 10 years after his 9 in a row era ended

Agree0 Disagree0

EBT's were used right up to 2010 when he was in charge. We also know at least one ex rangers manager received EBT payments after he left the club, how many more have benefited like this, Walter perhaps?

Agree0 Disagree0

It appears that walter did have an ebt and was drawing from it while employed at everton & the sfa.

Agree0 Disagree0

What have ebts got to do with Walter smith? He's a football man. Is it HIS fault he was there during the whole rotten business side of it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom Hunter has a fortune of 800 million, yeah because he didn pump it into bankrupt football clubs. tom Hunter is a Hibernian fan anyway and has said on numerous occasions that he has no intention of putting any money into football. I am sure if you keep plucking names out of the hat you will eventually find someone who is willing to invest. Invest means they want a return on their money, just like M

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergus McCann would not have won any popular contests while he was at Celtic Park (remember the chorus of boo's unfurling a league flag) BUT in hindsight he was the right man for the job at that time. He embarked on a plan which meant financial stability which Celtic enjoy today. CG may not be a Rangers man, but if he delivers, he will have saved the club. If Walter has the best interests of the club at heart, wait until CG has or has not proved himself for Rangers, Then he can make his bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hundreds of big firms use EBT's.They are not illegal apparently if used properly. This seems to be the problem at Rangers, but how would Walter,a football man, know the in and outs of the legal system.Would any of us? I'm with Walter.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2012 20:51:44
Green and Walter Smith are in a meeting as I write this (8.50pm) also top players will come out tomorrow and state they will not play for a newco under Green. It's also claimed that SPL status is 90% certain next season most clubs wanted Div 1 but SFL have said no way

It is a new club now fans should support the new club and move on lets get rid of the deadwood and start afresh a new start

Still going on about this no one wants yous wake up.Henke7

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont you mean "the rfc" or even TRFC. Mate someone's bamming you up!

Agree0 Disagree0

There has been something going about that a Scottish team has applied to the English Leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

The new Rangers is called The Rangers Football Club...... the old Rangers were called The Rangers Football Club PLC..... so the THE doesnt actually make a difference it has been there for years

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently a Scottish team really has applied to English league pretty obvious its us but doubt it will happen

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't really matter Old rangers are finished. The club and it's history are wound up, the new club has yet to win or even play a game

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh ffs is this crap still being punted. You wont be in England............accept it and move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

The new name is the rangers football club this is a trading name only in the meantime

Agree0 Disagree0

"It doesn't really matter Old rangers are finished. The club and it's history are wound up, the new club has yet to win or even play a game"

I'd check my info if i were your good self buddy.........the history has been transferred to the newco.........THE Rangers Football Club.........STILL The Worlds Most Successful Club....

Agree0 Disagree0

..Are we bothered...naw..Gattuso is past it ...last thing we need at the moment..but goodluck to him..

Why not? he wanted his next move to be "an emotional experience" . Im not being funny but it is a blessing rangers never got him. He is done! 2 bad knees and 1 eye. DONE!

Sion sporting director Marco Degennaro has confirmed that the club are on the verge of signing former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso.

Italian sources had claimed earlier on Thursday that the 34-year-old was close to joining Galatasaray on a one-year deal worth 1.5 million. However, Gattuso has made a U-turn on his decision and is just inches away from joining Sion on a reported two-year deal which will keep him at the Swiss side until 2014.
"We moved well, tomorrow [Friday] we will have the final meeting," Degennaro told Radio Mana Mana. "Everything is in place to complete the deal.It is believed that the Swiss side, who finished ninth in the domestic league this season, will hold a press conference on Friday at 13:30GMT to announce the signing.

You're on fire tonight Ed! BBBBB = PMSL. He would have been good for the dressing room, the youngsters and for selling shirts but would probably have been similar to Roy Keane (similarly awesome destroyer in his prime) when he came to Scotland for his retirement stint - rank rotten on the pitch.

Brian

Keane won the league and league cup with celtic and gave the rangers midfield a spanking at ibrox

We need talanted youngsters no more prima donnas give the young lads a chance in the new rangers

Its amazing how quick yous change your mind when he was coming he was the best thing since sliced bread now hes rank rotten what next ... we didnt want to be the old rangers anyway ??

Agree0 Disagree0

"Keane won the league and league cup with celtic and gave the rangers midfield a spanking at ibrox"

I also remember him giving the Airdrie midfield a spanking in the cup. It was in the changing rooms afterwards as he couldn't get close enough to pull their shorts down on the pitch! Don't get me wrong, I really liked him as a player in his prime so it is not an anti-Keane, anti-celtic or anti-Irish thing on my behalf but he added absolutely nothing to the playing side of Celtic during his stint. Just like Ljundberg and a few others who have came here past their best, he couldn't cut it week in week out and they were brought in primarily for the commercial benefits that accompanied them. Even my season ticket holding Celtic mates said as much at the time.

What is required now is to understand how much it will take for the Sevco people to walk away. Theyre investors not football people and will quickly recognise that Walter's intervention is a game-changer. The fans are wholeheartedly behind Walter and Ally and there will be no benefit in Green staying on when the fans will not give unconditional support. Its now time for fans to really quantify how much we can add financially to the club so that we can buy out Green and move forward with Walter. I for one would be happy to pay for season tickets +50% on top to help recapitalise the club and, most importantly repay all creditors other than HMRC and Ticketus (they can chase Whyte and SDM for their lot?). Fans collective to own 51% of club minimum a with elected board representation. Happy aso to pay an annual fee to be a member (just like Barca)

Believable20 Unbelievable15

Sevco are football people ffs. Green was chairman of Sheffield ffs.
Walters move is a stunt only.
'The Rangers' is hours old and fans want to boycott it and take it down. Ffs.

Agree0 Disagree0

What Walter's group should do now is offer contracts to the players and apply for SFL 3. Greene would find himself with no players and with only Ibrox and Murry park. They are no good to him without Rangers and Lets face is at this point Walter and Ally are Rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

Very best of luck to the newest and smallest club in scotland, hope the 1st 40 years brings much success, please keep it honest .Remember unlike an old now defunked club, ALWAYS KEEP YOUR DIGNITY.FROM THE EAST END BHOY.

Great post mate I have been trying to post the same at length many times and I am with you totally on the 50% extra PLUS you are spot on that WE should as an apology to the SMALL creditors try repay as much as possible so the rest of scottish football sees WE are decent notlike SDM and CW and now CG he is a total liar - 20 investors , HMRC agreed deal , that and his patronising/insulting rallying calls to try and con us out of the season ticket money, it made my blood boil him embarassing us as genuine Scots stating we will put up £30m (aye rite) meanwhile shafting ordinary decent creditors with 9p in the pound THAT IS THE MEASURE OF HIM AS A MAN , F**K you to decent ordinary people (mind that will be us as his funders = season tickets etc) and im alright jack attitude NO WONDER PEOPLE HATE US ! We NEED some people to like us fr a change to get into div 3 we should NOT even be thi king of SPL we deserve punishment plus common sense 3/4 years out europe best time for us to rebuild from bottom and hope we return to top flight when ban is up, another wee bonus it wil be fun traveling to all the wee clubs all over scotand from berwick up to ross county over next 5 years if we win leagues , I FOR ONE WILL ENJOY GOING TO SUPPORT MY TEAM FOR 1st time in years.... The Rangers The people , The George lmao

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can do that and dump him with a useless ibrox and training park (wont ever call it M***** park again) we culd end up making him a 9p in pound offer for them when he stuck with no buyer that would be so funny see the sarcy smile off his face then as his 'investors' turn on him.... george

Should they not have an opinion on who runs the club, I think the people who paid their cash and have seen their club pay the ultimate sacrifice are entitled to voice their opinion and vote on the way forward)

Don't under estimate Mr Green he is shrewd very shrewd, and his side kick Mr White is still hanging around all be it under the cover of a consortium. They have just added 2 very important assets to their portfolio of property. Football is of no interest to them. Ride in Mr Smith make some noise wind up the fans demand your beloved Rangers. Consortium hold up their hands and hand over running of the Club to Fans and friends. Consortium have no wages to pay, No footballing decisions to make, their only interest will be in the rent they will charge for the use of the park and training ground and of course the maintain and repair clause in the rental of Ibrox to maintain it's value which will be used as collateral to secure loans for other projects.

Agree0 Disagree0

Feel sorry for the small creditors?? So many The Rangers fans feel sorry for the small creditors. What about the uk public conned out of £21.5m PAYE/ NI , £34m small tax case and up to £90m BTC??? That's over £100m theft from the British people but there's no feeling sorry there.

Greene would find himself with no players and with only Ibrox and Murry park. They are no good to him without Rangers and Lets face is at this point Walter and Ally are Rangers

So basically Green would sell Ibrox and Murray park to whom ever for a huge profit, what would Walter and his team do then?

Let the new club get through the first 24 hours before it dies....

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds note "Everyone entitled to their opinion, especially the Rangers fans" ed your right you have watched the club pay the the ultimate sacrifice but you need to remember your club is toast charles green is the new owner ( and founder ) of " THE RANGERS " and so far not one rangers fan has invested one penny into the new club untill you buy a season ticket your not entitled to any say or opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

Why didn't WS and the consortium not bid before now. They let the club be liquidated and break the time line when they could have stepped in earlier

Agree0 Disagree0

The larger creditors are all "Big Boy's" and should have been more aware of what was going on. Ticketus either knew exactly what they were doing with the Whyte deal,if they were unaware, then hell mend them. The OP is right pay back the smaller creditors who were more vulnerable. As far as HMRC are concerned, why did they not call RFC/Murray in earlier, why let the bill run as high and for as long as they did?

{Ed039's Note - Not sayin he is a villain just given choice I would prefer smith, just my opinion) i understand your entitled to your opinion but the ( if given a choice ) the point is you where not giving a choice because no one else put their cash on the table ( inc smith ) and gave you that choice and now their just dragging your club throu more troubles and boycotts on a day it should have ended if green didnt step up when miller walked your club would have been gone where was smith then ??

Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, Dundee United, S. Mirren and Inverness chairmen will release statements tonight/tomorrow stating a Newco Rangers will not be admitted to the SPL.

Sky TV deal and League Sponsorship will automatically collapse and SFL have stated no club will automatically be given membership outside of relegation, and Rangers will need to compete with other clubs for Div 3 entry.

Note, Under FIFA rules, Rangers are ineligible to join any other world league recognised by FIFA unless they reform as a completely new club, under a new name and as a club formed in 2012 for the first time. {Ed039's Note - Mr Doncaster??)

Good ah hope so an when we pass u on the way up we'll huv a wee cheeky grin, hope u's die cos we wont :)

Agree0 Disagree0

What are the rules here Ed - can a compromise be reached i.e. can we be relegated only one division? I think all of us Gers fans recognise we need to be punished but relegating us to the 3rd is just shooting everyone in the foot. Its just beyond stupidness!!! {Ed039's Note - I think we probably could only be relegated one divison but I honestly wouldnt like to say for sure)

Agree0 Disagree0

One year SFA suspension at the hands of lord Carloway with FIFA and UEFA paying close attention is unavoidable. Green can get his sheep on the field.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sky in a no win situation let the new rangers remain in the spl there will be a massive boycot by subscribers kick the new rangers in div 3 crowds will plummit could get very messy i would like the new club to start in div 3 as a punishment and a new start

Greens new rangers will probally take about 5 years to settle in i would liked walters bid to have been put through as hes a old rangers man at heart im heartbroken tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

As things stand even as a lifelong bear I actually think they should vote against Rangers in the SPL, does anybody actually think there will be that many bears going to any matches to support Green's Rangers?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed. About being relegated only one division. I made the point previously on here that the SPL and the SFL are essentially two different leagues who happen to have an agreement re promotion and demotion. They are separate entities who both operate under the umbrella of the SFA (a bit like the pyramid system in England in a way under the FA) and have their own individual rules and governance when it comes to acceptable standards of stadia, seating/terracing, etc for example. The SPL consists of only one league. The SFL consists of three. If a liquidated SFL club seeks re-admittance then the rules state that they begin anew in the bottom league irrelevant of which one of the three leagues they were in. The lowest league in terms of the SPL IS the SPL itself. No previous SPL club has encountered liquidation and then applied to re-enter the league before, but technically there are no lower SPL divisions for them to be relegated to and this is one of the problems the chairmen face in my opinion. Allowing us straight back in sets an unhealthy precedent for other SPL clubs in financial difficulty as well as infuriating and alienating their own supporters.

I think the outcome may indeed be that we are relegated to the first division with Dundee or Dunfermline replacing us as it is the most logical course of action for the SPL chairmen to take (my preference is still Div 3 tbh but Anorak has ALMOST convinced me that that would be unsustainable for a club the size of Rangers). Acceptance back into the league and instant relegation prior to the league restarting in August as punishment would be entirely feasible and difficult to argue against in my opinion. The financial support Rangers brings to the SPL can be carried by the other clubs for a year (assuming we gain automatic promotion which would not be a given) without the massive financial restructuring involved if we ended up in the 3rd div nor the potential reduction of the new Sky deal which as yet remains unsigned. Any Newco SPL club would also be seen to receive a strong (not severe) punishment for courting liquidation. Do I even have a point or am I way wide of the mark in your opinion?

Brian {Ed039's Note - Not at all, all valid)

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter should take us to third div, put aside a trust to repay some of the old debts, then back to spl in a few years with some honour.

Guys it's a smokescreen to draw the conversation away from D&P gifting green £112m of assets that should have gone to HMRC/ Ticketus and all other creditors.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fighting fund wasn't used to fight for Rangers 1899 survival. They all knew and wanted liquidation to shaft all creditors. Ally leaving was a scam story to distract from the 'quick' dubious sale. Walters story is now another deflection from the real scandal.

I like the setting up of a trust idea, it may never fully repay the full amounts, but the more we can pay back the better

I'm not in the least cynical about the intentions of Walter Smith and his backers, he truly is what the term "Rangers man" is all about but the timing is at best questionable. I'm not saying their crack at a CVA would have been any more successful but why now? The simple, dare I say cynical, answer would be that the history books will always say that Green was at the helm when Rangers were liquidated, then over the hill came the cavalry. It took till this point in time to get the consortium together, did they just realise the peril the club was in Tuesday? Nonsense. Now I might come across here as being mischievous or whatever here but I'll put it in this question, Rangers fans were in the deepest despair on Tuesday would that bitter pill have been any easier to swallow knowing that people like Walter were to be the saviours? Of course it would have. Your suffering on Tuesday was avoidable or at least less painful had they made their move earlier. They sound as self-interested and selfish as anyone who has been involved in this whole sorry affair.

Believable23 Unbelievable6

Rangers fans are being played.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you know what this is my thoughts exactly, something stinks with their timing, the whole cva liquidation scenario with the rangers men riding to the rescue, just seems a bit contrived to say the least, I mean why now, if they were serious about our history being unbroken then they had plenty of time, seems like they are all crawling out the woodwork now that Whyte and green are taking all the heat for liquidating us, I don't think they are being transparent at all.
AlexMci

Agree0 Disagree0

Well now the Green Brigade own Ibrox they will back away from the football side of things, Let Watty and newco rent the Stadium and Murry park, then use their new £100 million Asset as collateral for loans to finance other investments, That's how he does business.
B13

Agree0 Disagree0

Ownership of ibrox is up in the air - is it green? - will this be challenged? - etc etc etc

this may take court action, as liquidators can challenge any deal and unravel it, so could be weeks before we know who owns ibrox...

as ever season ticket sales will be THE big determination of the next few weeks..

no sales and green faces expensive court action to defend his purchase......

sales and green has a chance.

you decide.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mcall didnt become the richest man in scotland for nothing, of course he was going to wait till liquidation happened, and almost 140 million of toxic debt wiped out, would you have taken murrays and whytes debts on? hes a buisness man first and foremost but has the rangers at heart. we must do everything in our power to make sure these guys get the keys and we will be heading back up instead of hurtling down!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

The richest man in scotland rangers at heart, ffs wise up he didnt have to take on 140 mil of debt,he could have upped the cva pot to about 18 mil instead of the 8 green was offering,an extra 10 mil to preserve history from as you say richest man in scotland, and you say ges a rangers man at heart dont make me laugh, to op above, they r no bette than the rest us the fans should wise up!please print ed039 as previous posts havent been thanx

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here. Bear in mind ALL they had to do was outbid Green to secure the club, be it by the extra half million or so that they are offering him now. So I still think they wanted nothing to do with the attachment of liquidation, knowing full well the misery it would bring to Rangers fans, shameful. Oh and by the way McColl is 5th richest in Scotland, at least your weren't carried away completely with your claim (well within radar, forgive the pun.)

Agree0 Disagree0

More smoke & mirrors, why wait until everything came crashing down to come out stating they want to buy the club? & lets not forget Watty knew a long time ago what was going on within ibrox yet did & said nothing about it! which is excatly who he is doing here! Green will bail out once the bones have been picked clean & another fool buys what ever is left.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the plan allalong was for CW to liquidate rangers then for sir walter and his merry men to ride to the rescue, this went pear shaped and green stepped in seeing the chance to make some money now, smith arrives tells green to moveover cause the RANGERS men have arrived and all the bears run to WALTER our saviour ........ you couldnt make it up lmao {Ed039's Note - I dont agree with that, maybe with the CW bit but not with the rest)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think everyone is missing the real reason why they waited until now to make their move and fans are concentrating on the level of debt as being the determinant factor as regards allowing the liquidation of the club. Yes, it certainly played a huge part, and as one of the previous posts stated they are all businessmen who have no interest in paying off other people's debt, but it was not the only toxic issue new owners would have been faced with if the old Rangers had remained intact. Any new owner would have remained liable for the penalties involved in the BTC (now HMRC are chasing Murray and Whyte individually) as well as the resultant sanctions incurred in relation to dual contracts. On top of that there was the inevitable suspension or banishment from cup competitions for tax avoidance and taking the SFA to court. No doubt even more skeletons were hiding in the cupboard as well. The old club was toxic period as a potential investment and expulsion from the Scottish game would have been inevitable. The history was not savable in my opinion. Liquidation was the only way out of the mess and the pathetic attempt at a CVA was used to sell it to the fans and make it slightly more palatable once it had been refused. "Hey, we gave it a go but they just didn't want to know". All of these issues now remain with the oldco or the individuals responsible for the chaos instead of the new club. Anyone who had put up an acceptable level of cash via a CVA would have seen the club heading straight back toward liquidation once the sanctions kicked in one after the other and their investment would have quickly went with the club. They are being financially sensible and appear realistic enough in the fact that it is financially more astute in this sense to buy the club back off of Green rather than play D&P's game whatever that may have been.

Brian

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here, Brian from about the sixth line down of your post onwards all those things are still on the table be it Green or Smith at the helm. The bottom line is there is a price for getting Rangers through one of its darkest days and Smith's consortium who wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole value that at £500,000. As to the earlier poster claiming it was business acumen nonsense, had they offered £8.6m for the CVA and £5.6m for the newco the club was theirs, why pay £6m when you could pay £5.6m? So this had nothing to do with waiting in the wings, they wanted no part of Tuesday, no attachment, no association. And that is where I think they have let the Rangers support down badly, because I'm sure Tuesday would have been far more palatable with Walter at the helm, the type of reassurance all Rangers fans would have wanted but nope, like McCoist when McLeish begged him to come on board it is only going to be at a time of his choosing, not when the club REALLY needed him. I hope Green charges them a fortune and then we'll see just how much of a "business" decision it was.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have not had an entry posted yet - given the utter c**p that has been put on this page today, I cannot understand why. How blind are some fans or is it desperation. Sir W appears as if by magic, backed by all of these rich men and we all bow down. I've no allusions about Green but at least he has been upfront and the one who's taken most of the grief during the liquidation. This mess has been entirely created by "real rangers" men. Maybe we need to trust an outsider to sort it out. Smith has gone right down in my estimation with this posturing. All of these so called RFC legends have been nowhere during the last few months - they should hang their inflated heads in shame. {Ed001's Note - stop whining, I hate whiners who bitch about their posts not showing up, when most of the time they are just too lazy to look through and see them. It is pathetic, you know the rules state clearly it is editor's discretion whether it gets posted or not, if you don't like it, you are perfectly at liberty to go elsewhere.}

To brian,
well said, one of the better replies i have read, your also bang on with the skeleton in the cupboard theory, god knows what else was in there, i posted earlier that mccall was the richest man in scotland, i may have got this mixed up with he was the most successful buisness man of the year in 2011. my mistake, but i believe he has a personal fortune of over 800 million. we must i repeat must get on these guys side.........

Wholeheartedly agree with this post! Walter and his mates, decided they were not the one,s who were gonna be in charge, when we went down the tubes! so let the club go under the stewardship off Mr Green and sevco, and at the last seconds, try and look like saviours! too little too late Watty!! what are Mr McColl, and Mr Park worth between them? I think we have a bit of glory hunting here! Time to let go, and start again if we are aloud! We have a lot off catching up to do, as our next trophy will be our First!!

ED: I read your comment - I would rather support new Rangers with Walters consortium at the helm than a guy who has admitted he is in to make a quick buck, and most others certainly would as well - and initially thought of "the bunnet" he came in to Celtic Park and made it clear from the off what he was there for, also, for how long and what steps A,B,C, & D would be.
It maybe that Green will be pressured into selling to Walter in the very near future but at this moment the Rangers fc are owner lock stock and two smoking barrels by Charles Green and will be until something else happens. {Ed039's Note - Very true post. Very good point mate)

Agree0 Disagree0

" we don't do walking away " famous last words. Gone but... Well yeah, forgotten.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter offered a seat on the board, green must be hoping he brings all the season ticket holders in, he also claims that it will be at leat 10 million to buy , not the 6 walter has offered

Agree0 Disagree0

As I said earlier ED although Green maybe looked on with suspision(and to a certain extent rightly so due to previous fly guys) he has at this point NOT done anything wrong as far as I can see, he was the ONLY one that stepped up to the plate. his idea about the structure of the club having seperate boards for business and football is a great idea, both to keep an eye on each other so as not to fall into the same trap again , living within their means, sometimes in this country we tend to not like outsiders that they have not got our best interests at heart, but sometimes that is not the case, I mean the last owner was a dye in the wool gers man and scottish and look how that panned out...give the guy a chance we have no other option, remember he said himself if you don't like me or the way I am doing the job vote me out....thats great but who else is there....Bill {Ed039's Note - Good point)

Agree0 Disagree0

With the olive branch being extended to Walter in the way of a chairman position on the footballing board, surely it makes sense for him to take up this position rather than lengthy court cases washing the clubs dirty laundry in public, there has been enough of that to last a life time, surely it makes sense to join forces and work from the inside rather than shouting from the side lines, Green owns the facilities that does not look like changing anytime soon, we need to circle the wagons and fight the good fight together in unity. Once things are settled and a firm foundation has been put in place they can sort out the ownership and backroom stuff, all the fans want is stability and to be seen to be moving forward as one.....Bill {Ed039's Note - If their motives are to esnure that the newcos future is placed in the hands of the Rangers minded people then surely their cash can buy a seat on Charlies board and their opinions will be heard so it does make sense, but I fear Walter smells a rat and will not accept)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed: Ye i am trying not to be too cynical and as i stated earlier to be less guarded(as us Scots seem to always be) I am sure we all want it to be above board and a genuine gesture to protect going forward with the new club, I guess only time will tell....I know a few Yorkshire men they are normally straight forward and to the point in the same way we are stubborn lol so who knows mate....bill

Green has complete the purchase of Gers. Probably sell to Smith and Co for £7M tomorrow, quick £1.5M for his troubles.

Wonder how much he is in it for in legal fees etc. I expect him to come under huge pressure from the players and fans in the coming hours to sell.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Now the fans and the players are the key!

Come clean on everything immediately, sell to Smith and co, or preside over the "real death" of the club.

Ten million minimum offer an thats a bargain for Charles and Walter when you consider how much the assets are worth (
way over 100 million).

Why did Walter leave it so late , could have offered 6 million months ago.
Maybe he didnt know what was going on as he hasnt been around lately.(amongst others)

Charles Green issued the following statement today:

"Following the formal decision of the creditors' meeting at Ibrox Stadium today, the consortium I represent has fulfilled its agreement with the administrators and has completed the acquisition of the business and assets of The Rangers Football Club plc.

"The transfer of the business and assets to a new company structure has taken effect immediately and the new company is The Rangers Football Club.

"An application has already been made by the company to register with the Scottish Football Association and to participate in the SPL.

"These applications will be considered over the next few weeks and I will continue to have discussions with the football authorities in relation to the Club's position.

"This day is bitter-sweet for the consortium I represent. From our first involvement we made it clear we would have preferred to acquire this great Club through a CVA.

"The decision by HMRC to vote against the proposal was, in my view, counter productive and did nothing but visit the sins of the past on the owners of the future and indeed the supporters who care so much for Rangers and deserve better.

"It was however prudent for us to prepare for this outcome and we are proud and honoured to acquire Rangers and begin a new chapter in its illustrious history.

"These are early days and there is a huge amount of hard work to be done to rebuild Rangers.

"It will take time and effort, passion and commitment. Rangers will rise again and that journey began in earnest at Ibrox today.

"First I must address the issue of the Manager's position at the Club. Our consortium wants Ally McCoist to remain as Manager and we firmly believe he is the man to take Rangers forward.

"He embodies everything that is great about the Club and without question we want him to continue as the Rangers Manager.

"I fully understand that other people have courted Ally who do not wish to see my consortium succeed however, I believe time for decision and rancour is over now that the Club has been sold and everyone with the interests of Rangers at heart should unite.

"The rebuilding of the Club will happen from today.

"As I have stated previously, it is our intention that no single investor or institution will own more than 10-15% of the shareholding.

"One of the saddest aspects of the refusal by HMRC to support a CVA is that small shareholders have lost their shares in The Rangers Football Club plc.

"However, supporters and shareholders will have the opportunity to invest in the new company.

"My consortium has been determined from the outset that from now on Rangers will be run to the highest standards of corporate governance.

"To that end, the Club will have two boards in the future - a company or plc board and a football board with appointments announced in due course.

"In terms of investors in the company, to date our investors include Chris Morgan, a UK-based businessman representing family trusts; Glenmuir, the renowned Scottish clothing company; Ian Hart a Glasgow-based businessman; Alessandro Celano of Blue Pitch Holdings and Zeus Capital.

"We are looking to expand that investor base and are in discussions with a number of interested parties.

"I have been greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm investors have shown and their belief that Rangers can have a great future. I believe that too and I, along with everyone at the Club, will work tirelessly to make it happen."

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I think green will do a bill miller and walk away he wont be able to handle the pressure he will come under. we need rangers men in charge of rangers not some daft yorkshire man who knows nothing about rangers and it's history. its time to put our past behind us and look to the future. it's time for honesty out with the bad and in with the good. i am sure if walter smith is successful that he will accept any punishment coming to rangers and deal with it in a proffesional manner i am almost certain we will still be in the spl next season and if it is with penalties then so be it we need to pay for our crimes and i accept this and so will many gers fans. we want honest businessmen in charge who will be honest to all. arise sir walter.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

It is, all Smith can do is kindly ask him to sell it to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's never to late.
The role of the administrators is to maximise profit for the creditors (not for themselves), Administrators (current and future) have the power to cancel any agreement OR contract that is not in the best interest for the creditors, so if this deal is worth more to the coffers than the current one then they must accept it or face being accused of not doing there job properly (not for the first time), but WHY would the turn it down anyway ? , unless THEY have somekind of hidden agenda that is in THEIR best interest (and that of their boss, WHYTE). If they refuse the new offer or try to deny that it even exists (as they have done before with other offers ("it never went through the propper channels", "it wasn't in writting and in brail", "it was written in blue ink and not in the correct black") and this deal doesn't happen then a full and detailed investigation MUST be carried out immediately on D&P and prison should beckon...

Charles Green, the club's prospective owner, also told the meeting his newco entity, currently called Sevco 5088 Ltd, would be renamed The Rangers Football Club, which would be the club's new trading name because of the death of Rangers Football Club plc.

Re: OP and Ed's comment - The Rangers Football Club is registered but belongs to the original and soon to be liquidated RFC entity. It is NOT a new registered name in anticipation of such events.

I checked Companies House and there is no new registered name showing other than ones where clearly there are chances registering names in the hope the newco buys them off them.

Therefore already, there are shades of grey with D&P's announcement the newco will be The Rangers Football Club!

Brilliant post mate, its about time someone took the bull by the horn like this, they should comeback as Govan Rovers and distance themselves from any mention of Rangers, only by doing this will Scottish football be able to move forward, more importantly the fans of the defunct club once know as Rangers will be able to hold their heads up high again, this is a time for change, a time for new values, a time to support Govan Rovers.

"Why you think this guy is the villain is totally beyond me"...Not saying he is a villan, Im saying he is not a rangers man...he has no history with rangers...he is a business man who sees an opportunity. I'd be more likely to support ally ( or someone with rangers bankground/history) with a group of 19 trainees going through the league system and building a new rangers that some english ( yorkshire is he from ? ) bloke who is trying to get a lot for very little. We need someone to do what the fans have done in Manchester and Wimbledon then one day the real rangers will be back on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

As an Army Airborne Ranger from Fort Benning Georgia...know as "the Rangers" surely that is going to be a copyright infringement? I will need to take my bumper sticker off my truck now which simply says "The Rangers" as I have a family of Celtic supporters.....

BREAKING NEWS: Walter Smith fronts new bid for Rangers FC. Here is the official statement:

STATEMENT FROM WALTER SMITH
"I can today confirm that following talks over the last few weeks I am leading a new bid for Rangers Football Club.
"I have been assisted by Jim McColl, Douglas Park and other prominent Scottish businessmen with a shared objective - that Rangers Football Club should be in the hands of Rangers people who will stabilise the club and protect it from future situations like we find ourselves in today.
"With this in mind, representatives have, on behalf of my group, made representations to BDO, Duff and Phelps and indeed Charles Green, notifying them of our willingness to offer on the "Newco" basis on which Mr Green is proceeding.
"We would call on Mr Green to step aside and allow us to proceed with our deal which is in the best interests of the creditors, the employees, the fans and the various other stakeholders of Rangers Football Club.
"None of our group has any desire to own Rangers Football Club but we have put this deal in place to save the Club.
"However, our overriding objective is to ensure that the stadium, the history and everything else magical about Rangers Football Club is protected and nurtured back to good health and provide a platform for Rangers for generations to come.
"Let's be clear, this is an acquisition designed to stabilise the Club and ensure history does not repeat itself.
"We are not in this to take money out of the Club but more so to do whatever it takes in a turnaround plan to ensure within a few years the Club can be passed on intact and to the right people.
"The supporters should be under no illusion that it will be extremely hard but with their support we can overcome financial hardship that lies ahead by lending their support to what we feel is the correct way forward - for Rangers people who know the Club inside and out to control its destiny.
"The prominent Scottish businessmen involved have agreed to provide acquisition funding to allow myself and a management team to take on Rangers Football Club and make the business self-sufficient with long term sustainability being essential.
"I would hope that this offer is fully supported by everyone in the Rangers Family as without them the Club cannot and will not survive.
"We therefore want to ensure honesty and transparency in everything we do. We want to rebuild Rangers Football Club and in doing so return the institution to the standards it is known for."

Smith mcoll park biddin for gers

Agree0 Disagree0

We might be squeaky clean debt wise but another thing that's squeaky clean is our history. 54 titles were still going strong- not anymore fellow bears.

Agree0 Disagree0

But who owns "Glasgow Rangers FC" as a copy name.... ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter smith is heading a takeover to buy the club

Agree0 Disagree0

Charles green can do one back to england as del boy would say you plonker. news of this walter smith bid has cheered me up a bit i just hope green and the person pulling his strings that is craig whyte do one and all i can urge is rangers fan to congregate outside ibrox peacefully and try to get green to walk away noone wants him up here we want walter smith and his consortium and ally as manager we have been lied to enough its about time duff and duffer gave the fans what they want. this mess could just be about sorted soon hopefully. all we want is to be back playing football be financially stable and more importantly give other teams their money and not be a club who lies all the time and breaks rule after rule after rule.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sensational news walter smith along douglas park and jim mccoll have launched a new bid to takeover rangers saying they are in it not for the money but to stabilise rangers in years to come and they have asked charles green to step aside i firmly believe it may well be to late and green has got the club and will strip it bear he will sell ibrox and murray park to developers and walk away with a huge profit we are doomed unless this walter smith bid succeeds which i highly doubt it will duff and phelps charles green and craig whyte have planned this all along they are idiots and will regret taking this action when they realise they have ruined a great club and its history

Agree0 Disagree0

So, Smith & the Late Knights wait until liquidation and come in offering no money to the Rangers creditors hoping to pick up what remains of the club for zilch.

Shysters, the lot of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walter and his consortium are offering 6 million for 'The Rangers Football Club'.

Is that 9.5 p in the £ ?

Also what happens to Ally. Is he demoted to the sponge boy?

Also is SDM part of the consortium (silent or otherwise)? {Ed039's Note - I would doubt SDM is anywhere near this. It just can't happen)

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said many times. Liquidation then wait for the big boys to come out and play. the reason Liquidation is preferred is.
I. Its a strait cash bid for assets no mucking about with debts and future debts

2. In liquidation player contracts dont transfer. Rangers currently cant afford their staff and although there's no player fee's. the clear out a lot of dead wood with no compensation. Especially if being paped to 3rd division

3. Shirt sales and Catering back in house. This GOOD new IF you have the backing to set up these retail arms

4, a possibility to dump Murry park. Face it bears its a millstone round your neck.

Still not a done deal but I know where I'd put money. Also expect other to emerge in the near future, but persuading smith to front this was a master stroke

Rangers in crisis: Charles Green facing potential dressing room revolt as Ibrox stars fume at plans.

CHARLES GREEN is facing a potential dressing room rebellion at Rangers.
The owner-in-waiting is risking a backlash for failing to keep the top stars informed about his plans to turn Rangers into a newco.
And he is about to be dealt another blow after the SFA contacted FIFA asking for a ruling on players' contracts and it is believed they will come down on the side of the players.
Record Sport can reveal that a number of key men are boiling with rage following Green's failure to nail down the CVA which would have spared the 140-year-old institution from the hands of the liquidators.

Believable11 Unbelievable4

History goes nowhere for the 50th time, i know some people wish it did, sorry it doesnt

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yes it does !

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right history can't ever go away! History is the word used to described events of the past. World war one doesn't go away because world war 2 happened but the key is that it refers to events in the past when rangers become a new company that will be the future so it's all new and hasent made any history until it does something it can't claim to be part of something else's past.

Agree0 Disagree0

History goes where the club goes, and if that means the club goes to newco then so be it.

However Green's dressing room revolt is his own fault for trying to bully players intio transferring their contracts.

ALLY McCoist is set to quit Rangers after discovering a plot to get rid of him.
Record Sport believes that even though it will break his heart to leave, the 49-year-old is in an impossible position. And late last night sources said McCoist will be gone within 48 hours after confronting new owner Charles Green over plans to oust him.
It was stressed that it was only his loyalty to the club and the fans that prevented him from walking immediately on finding out earlier this week he has no place in Green's blueprint for the future.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Did anyone really expect Ally to go down to Division 3 with paycut and spend next few years trying to get back up to SPL? Give us a break, Green knows he'd be going, Ally knows he'd be going, bloomin eck, the Ibrox cleaners knew he'd be going. So cut the crap and don't insult our intelliegence Ally by leaking some conspiracy nonsense to cover you walking away (which ironically, no one would blame you for doing)

Agree0 Disagree0

No manager survives administration. McCoist has been lucky. His performance has been very average. His contract has reverted to over one million pounds per year just for him. It's now liquidation, he's not needed. The team will downscale in numbers and quality. He's also been mouthy and shown poor judgement on a few issues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry some folk feel like that about sally, I am a Celtic fan and all I can say I have upmost respect for this man, yes he has put his foot in by saying stupid things, but to the fans he has been a rock, if he walks away be worried as he knows something is going to happen to his club and does not want to be part of it. Mr Green is an Arthur Daly wideboy and will strip Ibrox to the girders then sell them to Murray for scrap value. {Ed039's Note - Thats the thing that worries me, does Ally know something we dont?)

this was 1 of the questions asked to mr green

Q.
Three-year European ban as a newco – what does that do for your projections?

A.
We knew what the consequences were and what the opportunities were. If the CVA does fail on Thursday, and it is looking as if it will on HMRC’s current position, then we are not even in the SPL. Forget about playing in Europe we might not even be playing in Glasgow.

what does he mean by not even playing in glasgow. I thought he said we would still be at ibrox

Believable9 Unbelievable1

I think he means we might not be playing anywhere - Jaxie

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

He walks away. Doesnt buy the assets and creditors get them.

Agree0 Disagree0

The newco was a bluff, HMRC called his bluff and I believe he will fold.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

It will actually be 4 years out of Europe and is not technically a ban. The requirement for entry is 3 years audited accounts by March 31st. Green will not be able to comply with this until June 2015, so will miss the deadline for 2015/16

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a muppet front man. Another fall guy with someone else pulling his strings.

Agree0 Disagree0

From 1st june company has to be regestered so its 4 year ban

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's a bit of a substandard businessman & this is his 15 minutes of fame. I doubt he'll be there long - hes not smart enough. no Smart businessmen were willing to take the risk for £5.5mm - that tells that Green is either a genius or a half wit

Agree0 Disagree0

Anorak - I wonder if you are right. He seems to be making life as difficult for himself as he can. However why go to the trouble of meeting the SPL?

I wouldn't take his "Glasgow" statement too seriously. I think he's just saying "we might not be playing at all".

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is referring to the comments from BDO on liquidation...... They basically said they will allow the sale of the assets to Green to go ahead, however if this falls through they will sell to the highest bidder and noted that it doesn't have to be football orientated (I.e. Tesco etc). They even mentioned that the listing status could be overcome.

I have concerns over Green myself, although to be honest, more to do with me being untrusting at present, than anything he has done. He is the only game in town though and regardless of his motives for our success (he'll get nothing if he doesn't make us successful), if he doesn't get control we could see no Ibrox, which as far as I'm concerned, really would be a oiler blow for the club.

I really wish I was scaremongering but I'm afraid I'm not. Hopefully I'm wrong though as it's hard to understand what is fact or fiction in all of this ......

Imran Ahmad and Brian Stockbridge are two names being rumoured to form part of Green's Board of Directors. Is it any coincidence both of these "businessmen" presently work together at Zeus - an investment group? I wonder if Charlie's money is actually being funded by Zeus who represent a number of high net worth individuals. Could make on sense of Charlie's fabricated, exaggerated claims from day one of having 20 individual investors lined up! Looks like Zeus are giving th cash but (understandably) two of their guys will sit on the board...holding senior Finance positions on said board!

All rumour and speculation of course but today, we are supposed to know all. If it is Zeus who are behind Charlie, then based on my knowledge of them, this is unlikely to be a long term "project" for them or their clients. They are motivated by taking businesses and floating them on AIM within 18 to 24 months.

SPM

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Gers fans. Look at the type of people who will be on your board. Talk about frying pan and fire ! Have no lessons been learned ? They are no better than Whyte but they are the same breed as whyte IE venture capitalist , asset stripping, vultures WHO ARE ONLY CONCERNED WITH MAKING MONEY ! I can predict that the new rangers company will be back in administration before xmas !

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair the fans didnt make the decision to go with Green but I do agree the new company in admin again is not an impossibility Sad times for Scottish football

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course they are in it for money, they know for a fact after this debacle all they need to do is offer a share issue in the new company and they'll make back a lot more than they put in as rangers supporters will want more control ofer the club than before.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a 10-day spell when he had at least £8m in pledged funding for his Sevco consortium, but one major investor walked away last weekend after doing due diligence on the books and his fellow investors. That took £4m out of Green's funding book. He has been trying to secure the last of the money to meet the purchase price, which is likely to be due to be paid immediately on completion of the deal, but the terms and conditions of his binding agreement with Duff & Phelps remain confidential.

Green has promised to reveal the names of his backers following the creditors' and shareholder meetings at Ibrox today. Herald Sport believes that Rafat Rizvi is one, having pledged to commit £2m to Sevco. Rizvi is a British citizen who was on Interpol's wanted list after being accused of stealing assets from Indonesia's Bank Century in 2010. At one stage, his personal wealth was estimated to be £385m, but his properties are only in the UK and Singapore because neither country has an extradition treaty with Indonesia. He was one of three shareholders accused of looting the bank, but claims his innocence.

Herald Sport also believes that Mike McDonald, the former Sheffield United chairman, has pledged £2m. Green's initial proof of funding was a letter from McDonald's bank about his liquidity, showing he had access to £20m, more than enough to fund Sevco's takeover. McDonald has wavered in his support throughout, but is believed to still be involved. He is also an associate of Paul Stretford, who was once banned from working as a football agent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ahmad and Stockbridge are Green's advisers and are trying to raise the capital for his purchase. They will make the approaches to individuals on Green's/Newco Rangers behalf. You should check them out- especially Ahmad!

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy who said they're worse than Whyte isn't kidding! Take my word for it - I know them!

Agree0 Disagree0

Zeus is a stockbroker which represents AIM companies typically so its not a venture capitalise. I would think that Green is clearly looking to sell Rangers on quick or float it on AIM and raise money. My jaw dropped though when I saw Stockbridge's and Imran's name though who are both formerly of Zeus and Allenby Capital. I shudder to think how badly run the club will be going forward based on their previous experience.

Why is Green getting it in the neck?

There will be no blue knights, no last man standing Kennedy, no ebt man Souness, no Ng, no Miller, no man on the moon either.

Still do not understand why continued support for blue knights who had the chance and walked away,

Green seems to be villain of the peace and don't understand why.

They are the only game in town we need to support him, he must be regretting the day he agreed to buy.

Believable10 Unbelievable9

Sigh, where do you start.........

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree folks, not my ideal choice is Green by any means but come on, in reality who else stepped forward...no one. Alot of posturing by many and some free publicity. We have to play with the hand that we have been dealt with, give the man a break ffs. Some fellow bears dont seem to like anybody!!
TBK are not the answer, they cannot provide, they had chance after chance to obtain our club, they knew what was required, let's not all be fooled here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Charles green should beat it back to england absolute disgrace the way he has treated ally mccoist watching mccoist's face on sky sports news says it all. an absolute shame that it has come to this and i fear ally mccoist will resign and walk away from it all. oh and our new team name the rangers football team more like the joke football team because that is what we have become.

Agree0 Disagree0

My only feeling is that they are the only game in town due to Duff and Duffer. The Blue Knights had suggested offering a smaller fee up front but paying out full debts off over a longer period as revenues came in. This was not accepted by Duff and Duffer, but may have been more acceptable to HMRC and kept the existing company alive. I have concerns that we are jumping from the frying pan into the fire with Green, he is already struggling for cash, does not look to have the support of the players (which could cost us 10's of millions of pound's when they walk away) or manager, and his plan is to make a quick buck. Ground Hogg Day we have been here last summer, so does this mean we will be facing liquidation or administration again before season 2012-13 is finished - very possibly!

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy answer is that he's upset just about everyone and hasn't even got control of the club yet. He's angered the SFA, he's angered players regarding contracts, he seems to have fallen out with Coisty this morning, HMRC clearly didn't want anything to do with him. Isn't that enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

You are wrong ! There is another game in town. They are called the fans. Why is nobody talking about a fans takeover ? Why no fans trust like Barca ? The rangers fans have been appaling in all this They have sleep-walked into oblivion. The previous pathetic demo`s were all aimed at the wrong people . And here you are , all willing to support another bunch of charlatans . It makes you weep !

Agree0 Disagree0

He seems to have just back stabbed Ally; who having gone without any wage for the last few months to help the club has in fact put up more of his own money than Green!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, same message a year on. Whyte, get behind him, only game in town. Green, only game in town.

When will you smell the roses.....

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason there's still support for blue knights is that they are genuine rangers fans. Mr green is no good for rangers, the fans must get him out NOW, or they will regret it.

And its not the case that the blue knights didn't come up with the money, its a case of... even if they blue knights had the biggest, best offer, they were never going to get the club. Duff n phelps were never going to give the club to any one else bar Mr Green, THAT'S A FACT.
If you don't believe me, ask yourself this.... why did Mr whyte do everything in his power to make sure duff n phelps were appointed as ADMINS, and why did duff n phelps do everything in there power to make sure Mr Green got the club, the three are in this together.
They are the most dishonest, two faced liars ever to set foot in ibrox. And as developments will unfold today, will just prove everything i have said to be 100% true.

The fans must get Mr green out NOW, he will destroy us... he's already started the process now.

Agree0 Disagree0

God to all you "Get Out now Green activists", get a grip. You seem to think TBK would have saved Rangers, HMRC have made the decision not bcos of Green, so if TBK had been in the position Green is in just now no doubt you would be calling for TBK to get out. How about you stop the moaning and see where we go from here. as far as what has happened to ally, it wasnt too long ago all i read was, "get ally out, he is out of his depth, too much too soon, he is hiding behind the admin debacle". What we have read in the papers today is exactly what it is "paper talk" wait and see what an official statement states. Too many empty barrels on here making too much noise about what they think may or may not happen. As for "they're only in it for the money", well duh, its a business, an investor expects a return in their investment. What everyone wants is some multi billionaire rfc fan to buy the club and invest millions with little or no return, that aint going to happen

Heard today that if Rangers are not in SPL that the bank will call in a loan to another SPL team and they will go into administration.

They are heavily in debt and with a reduced income and players on long term contracts that the bank will pull the plug.

I think that is one vote we can count on.

Maybe division three is the place to be I think several SPL teams will be in it in a years time.

Believable8 Unbelievable12

Sounds like your mate at the bank is going to be in a bit of bother over confidentiallity laws!

Agree0 Disagree0

Division 3 suits me. Lets see how many of those club that stuck the boot in, survive when they are not getting the revenue that Rangers provide, be it through sky tv rights or away game gate receipts. Far too many of them are gloating and willing to watch Rangers demise. They seem to forget that without either of the old firm there would be no sky tv, there would be little or no european coefficient to allow us to enter Champions league or UEFA cup. Like we have said before, be very careful what you wish for

Agree0 Disagree0

With all you doom mongers will there be enough room in the SFL3 to accomodate all these clubs you are saying will be joining.
If Scottish football can't survive without Rangers in the top flight how do you account for the teams that are relegated? Dunfermline will survive in SFL1 and the other SPL clubs will adjust to compensate for any lack of revenue through not having Rangers in the SPL
(which still is not a definite: no TV deal maybe more paying fans; no Rangers maybe more competition for trophies and Europe so more paying fans).
I don't really have any strong feelings about what happens to Rangers, just as long as the treatment is fair and is no different to any other club if they were in the same position.

You and your elk will sink to any level I honestly do pity you

Scaremongering to get Rangers into the SPL.

No, clubs will need to downsize although there's nothing unusual about clubs getting into financial difficulties from time to time.

I am ashamed at the carnage rangers has brought onto scottish football. There are lots of bears talking about keeping rangers history. We've gone busy owing 10's of millions of pounds. Sure we can start as a new co but we don't deserve any history., it is beyond tainted now. It is over. Rangers no more.

So Killie for the drop next year

You're desperate mate - clutching at straws and wnting to take people down with you GTF

It is of course not very sporting to take part in anything if you are not there on merit and there simply because a bank threatens clubs who have behaved properly in a fiscal sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont talk rubbish.Rather than re call a loan ANY bank would work out a new business plan with the debtors. You lot really need to wake up.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Rangers go to Div 3, they will be joined in a year by half of the SPL.
Scottish football is on its knees, the fiasco at Rangers simply highlights ths fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at Dunfermline. They couldn't handle not getting 1 games worth off tickets. Hearts will follow us really soon aswell

To the op i can believe youre post Dundee utd stand to lose 1.2 million just from spl shared money pot a season if sky, advertiser's & sponsors pull out. With everyone going on about it will bring through young scottish talent. Where is this talent ?. Any young scot who's any good will be drawn to english teams & i dont mean EPL teams at the moment league 2 pay there players more money than 75% spl teams. So with even tighter budgets how will they compete at all to keep young talent in Scotland.

RE....LIVE WITHIN YOURE MEANS !!
ONLY THE HONEST AND STRONG WILL SURVIVE..

Are Celtic not 6 million in debt to the bank right now is this living within you're means? Sure it is sustainable but any debt is living outwith youre means..

Living within youre means = no debt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye great attitude mate, another bitter bear who is looking to punish every other team in the SPL over his own teams faults. You won't get your wish pal, and the other teams will survive without you lot if you go to division 3. You also all seem to be ignoring the fact that without rangers the other teams will get a bigger slice of the pie as Rangers and Celtic get a lot more in the way of t.v and prize money than they do. It will be a great battle to see who gets the 1.6 million 2nd place winnings next season. It's all neither here nor there though because your post is mince, all made up in your head or read from an inferior fan site.

Re don't talk rubbish...

Is this the same banks that forced Murray to sell Rangers after they had halved there debt to them in 4 years after working out a new structure plan..

Clubs are looking at losing over 1.2 million a year just in money share from spl.. Not including matchday sponsorship & hospitality.. There is no plan for a bank to restructure such a huge loss in finances. Banks don't give a flying monkies unless there are making money out of you. As soon as it becomes a risk youre on youre own.

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL....

where's the 1.6 million for second place coming from ??

Can you not understand there is no SPL prize money if sky pull out with advertisers & sponsorship... Jesus talk about communicating with the Thick...

I think a newco should have to start from 3rd division.. But not at the expense of scottish football on a whole. People harp back to the early 80s when aberdeen & Dundee utd had a couple of succesfull seasons. The game has changed beyond recognition now it is a multi billion £ industry now. They had players of quality then that could not leave unless the club wanted them to leave. Bosman for has changed this players do what they wish now. Clubs get a pittance even for a development fee now. The scottish league will end up the same as Irish & Welsh leagues. With more than half of the clubs gone to the wall.

Agree0 Disagree0

"stuck the boot in" no other club as stuck the boot in YET .but with attitude like that who would blame them. Remember not in spl yet and if vote goes against would need to hope the vote to get in sfl goes for you' or will spartans could join div 3.
