Todays performance was not great at all. Docherty had a poor game and bates for me is a squad player. i'd much rather have alves and martin at the back and on todays performance holt is a far better passer than docherty. But i do believe docherty will get better over the next year or so.

18 Feb 2018 19:12:08
Are you mad? In fact I'd actually go as far to say that you must be a Celtic fan.

18 Feb 2018 19:17:17
Remember docherty is only young he will have good and bad games but has the potential to be a great long term signing . We need to support all our young players

18 Feb 2018 19:23:30
Don’t agree at all. Docherty is better than Holt, Bates is better than Alves.

18 Feb 2018 19:32:37
Docherty's passing was poor today, but showed plenty of energy and some great breakup play.

I'd definitely persevere with him over holt.

18 Feb 2018 20:10:47
Honestly TGR, david bates AIN'T better than bruno alves and NEVER WILL be my friend! God almighty what a statement to come out with! Bruno alves has almost 100 caps for portugal!

18 Feb 2018 20:12:41
Total nonsense docherty broke up play numerous times but had a couple of missed placed passes. He’s the future of Rangers. Pitch played a big part in poor defending took players a while to adjust

18 Feb 2018 20:22:52
My god just get behind the team,

18 Feb 2018 22:04:35
Agree muf1970 but I was never convinced by the signing of docherty and imo is no better than barjo

18 Feb 2018 22:46:35
Bates is better than Alves. Gez peace. Is that a wind up? Do u know anything about football?

18 Feb 2018 22:52:28
alves is a good a player but i would rather see murty settle on a cb pairing of cardoso and mccorie when fit to see how these two would do rest of season if these two are not good enough going forward i would look at getting someone in to partner mccorie

18 Feb 2018 22:57:42
Anyone on the plant who follows football and knows anything about football knows that Alves is in a totally different league to David bates.

18 Feb 2018 23:21:24
Let me get this right jamie you want Bates out but keep Martin in who caused 2 goals today and had a shocker. Docherty apart from a couple of bad passes had a good game and was involved in 2 goals isn't good enough either. Mmm

19 Feb 2018 00:18:45
The pitch today was shocking for passing embarrassment advertisement for the scottish game playing on surfaces like that

19 Feb 2018 00:22:40
Well if you all think bates is a decent centre half then fair enough. But if we want to compete then both bates and martin are not a long term solution. Like i said docherty is a work in progress.

19 Feb 2018 00:29:26
Must admit I haven't been blown away by Docherty. As some posters have said he is young and will come good. Maybe He's trying too hard. Stand outs for me today were Morelos, Windass, Murphy. Thought John was good but Goss was my mom. What a permanent signing he would be.

19 Feb 2018 00:42:12
At the moment Holt is better than young Doc

19 Feb 2018 02:08:46
doesnt matter about caps lol he’s a old man who is a pussy, Bates is a lion and served us very well, he’s also a lot quicker than Alves which we need, **** Alves man you’d have to rip my leg off to take me off the park against Celtic. Bates Bates ooooooh Bates Bates

19 Feb 2018 07:59:45
Bates isn’t better than Alves although Alves has struggled. As for Docherty, he actually done ok yesterday and will only get better the more he plays. Jamie Barjonas isn’t at his level.

19 Feb 2018 09:23:23
The boy Bates is a young McLeish and together with McCorie can develop and form a formidable central defensive partnership for years to come. Alves is a lovely guy but is way past his best and at this stage in his career does not have the physicality or motivation to perform for us consistently at a high level. Great though that he is passing on advice to all of the young centre backs including Cordoso.

Great to see development and breakthrough if Bates this season. Did you see how disappointed he was when missed header and goal scoring opportunity. Priceless! Just watch how he converts and celebrates the next chafe he gets.

19 Feb 2018 09:36:03
Fs even when we win we are still getting criticised, at the end of the day we got the 3 points that we where looking for and we are now in 2nd place so get a grip and get behind yer team.

19 Feb 2018 09:56:01
How stubborn some folk must be to still be saying that Alves feigned injury at Celtic Park!? Do you actually believe it or do you just say it to justify not wanting him in the first XI? Although he's not fully impressed me, he's still the best CB we have on the books and I for one hope he turns it round and has a great last year and a half with us.

19 Feb 2018 10:04:54
I thought Bates had a good game and Docherty had couple of missed placed passes but came good remember he’s just came in to the side and Will settle in let’s get behind the team and give it a go 👍

19 Feb 2018 10:13:53
Bates would play through the pain barrier against them for sure, Alves is to old to slow too much of a pussy, we are far better at the back with Bates, and that’s a fact before results show a lot left goals conceded

19 Feb 2018 10:34:36
Bates was poor against Hamilton too many short clearances and needlessly heading the ball high but back into the mixer we need to just get the ball out the pitch and regroup

19 Feb 2018 11:41:56
Hope we win 5 3 every week

19 Feb 2018 12:08:21
I can see why the defence is getting criticism, letting three in yesterday, but the man I worry about at the back is Fod. He seems to get beaten by long range low shots consistently, and hardly ever comes off his line. A big lad like him should be commanding his penalty area. Maybe that's the way they coach them now, or has he not got the confidence to try and collect crosses. Other games he has shown some brilliant shot stopping ability at close range, but he does let himself down with crosses into the box.

19 Feb 2018 12:34:12
Alves has 15 years on Bates no? Alves has been very poor on pitch. In training prob helping young guys though. Doc first start if I'm right so calm down. Both young players and learning.

20 Feb 2018 12:17:20
Bates performances this season have been better than Alves's where before the injury so I would say he keeps his spot. Docherty loads of potential and great break up play.
Supercooper . Mate if we have Martin and Alves at the back would u not think that anyone with pace could just right through I'd rather have Bates in there he has pace and looks a proper no nonsense defender much better than their young Ayer boy for me . He has to be first pick defender
HAsn't got the credentials Alves has. But thAt because Albee is a lot lot older than him

18 Feb 2018 12:26:40
People saying Alfredo’s not worth much? how many good strikers came here and couldn’t do it, doesn’t faze the wee man one bit thrives of it. Got to credit the board for staying true to their word and not just cashing in.

19 Feb 2018 11:40:41
Know alves is better player than bates . but would pick bates ahead of him at least lads heart is in playing for rangers and you get 100 per cent effort of course young lad will make mistakes bates will become rangers regular I am sure in coming years long after alves has returned to portugal

18 Feb 2018 10:20:40
Who thinks Murty should be given the Rangers full time managers job next season?

I have a lot of praise for the guy, the way he professionally goes about his business in press conferences and how he has turned things around quite quickly into positives on the pitch I think Rangers have accidentally found there man to go forward it would be a disaster to let him go or demote him back to the youth squad.

IF Rangers win a cup this season and finish second in the league then surely Murty is a strong candidate for the full time job it's a no brainer obviously Murty knows this and that must be his target as he's already said he would love the opportunity to take us forword.

18 Feb 2018 10:46:24
Dave, I agree with most of what you say and I think if we win cup and finish second it should be Murtys job.

However, with Cummings, Murphy, Goss loan signings I think they may have somebody else lined and that's why they didn't commit to more perminent signings. I hope i am wrong and we have just been prudent and negotiated try before you buy deals but it looks to me as though it might be a way to save money for a new boss coming in.

18 Feb 2018 12:00:45
I will put my neck on the line this early and state that no other manager has been lined up and graeme murty WILL be given the permanent rangers manager's job, at the end of the season, on a 12 month rolling contract! I for one would be very happy if this happens, as i honestly see murty becoming a very good manager! He's impressed me so far! Confident he will get the gig permanently and honestly hope he does!

18 Feb 2018 12:18:42
As Supercoopereleven says, I think it's a given Murty will be manager next season, more so given some of his quotes regarding looking for younger players as opposed to Davis etc.

Unfortunately, purely on team performances and selections the guy doesn't fill me with much hope for the future and I can see next season being a carbon copy of this season with good wins and performances against top of the table teams and losing vs the bottom.

Really hope I'm wrong and murty proves everyone wrong but for me he's not the man to be our full time manager

18 Feb 2018 17:17:08
Loan signings with option to buy in our current state just seems sensible. Sean goss for me has looked best out the lot by a long way. However Russell Martin has been shocking I'm not a fan. Murty for me no brainier!

18 Feb 2018 18:53:17
Definately, if he plays and even only scores a couple, he will be surely worth 20 million dembelle dollars!
