Portland Timbers have bought out Kris Boyd's contract and he is now a free agent. Given his recent training with the club, any speculation he might return?

Hope not we have enough lazy unfit strikers to last us a life time.

Just the chap to send us up diddly leagues tho...... Pc strathaven

Would be good but can't see him not playing for anyone in order to join us in September!

If we sign him back it must be to make our manager look thin!

Boy has Boyd been found out since he left rangers, he might even have a world record for being freed by clubs- sorry couldn't help that dig- anyhow forget hasbeens from the past and give a young boy a chance to learn his trade whilst moving up the leagues, you might even find a great new talent worth a few quid in the future.

BBC SCOTLAND reckons he's going to Kilmarnock for remainder of season and singing for the 'gers on Sept 1st.

Yes hopefully the top ever league scorer after ally, who wouldn't want him back?
come home kris!

john

Scottish football is perfect for kris as long as he dosent play against the champions.with his track record

My bro drinks in the Balgarth bar (around the corner from kris's house) and it's allegedly common knowledge that he will rejoin Killie.
frankiebhoy

Is he walking back who is next mcshagger big kyle

Given the history between Boyd and McCoist, I would say As long as ally is the gers manager, Boyd will not be coming back to ibrox......fact!

Kris Boyd is a waste of space, He failed at boro. He failed in turkey, he failed in the usa. What a slap in the face to great goalscorers like Larrson, Mccoist and other greats when that clown is the all time top goalscorer in scottish football

Well what do you expect? When all you do is stand in the 6 yard box all game you are bound to get knock ins! Ally was pretty much the same! Not a celtic supporter, but the workload Larsson would do and still score goals was just incredible! He is definatly the greatest player to have played in the SPL! And anyone who would deny that either has blue tinted glasses or knows nothing about football!

When 1 of his portland ex team mate heard he was gone he said "thank god".so maybe scottish fourth tier is now his level.

Kris boyd rangers legend henrik who? what history do ally and kris have? has your mother been telling stories again?

john

When was spl formed, did gascoigne and laudrup play in spl? {The Ed039's Note - First season of SPL was 98-99 season, Gazza left Rangers in March 98 and Laudrup left at the end of the 97-98 season so no they did not play in the SPL)

John mate put down the glue henrik
was agreat player and goal scorer was a perfect pofesional scored goals at every level great recprd against the old rangers same in europe and international icon had a champions league winners medal top honours everywhere he's played please remind us of boyds record against celtic I've forgot how many did he get in europe how did.his
international career turn out hows he done after leaving ibrox? its like comparing a grand national winner with a scabby blackpool donkey no offence mate but you need to get a grip boyd scored goals in games rangers cantered when it mattered he was always posted missing please prove me wrong
thommyj

Thanks ed

john

No one saying he is better than this player or that but your job as a striker is to score goals.does he do it ? YES.would he still score goals for Rangers.YES. would we want him back.YES.A 25 goal + a season striker is invaluable in any team.Regardless of what he doesn't offer anywhere else.

Larsson greatest ever in the spl hmmmm not so sure about that he was without a doubt a great player not the greatest

How we have fallen.

Who was better.
Who else was bought my Barcelona from the SFA.

If larrson not the greatest spl player which he is by a absalute mile who is could do with a laugh
thommyj

Boyd never played in a dominant rangers team and no everyone's cup of tea but he could score goals and at the end of the day a goal is a goal no matter what league

Boyd may not be the best but he is the all-time leading goal scorer in the spl history. Something that probably won't be beaten amytime soon.

I was a big Kris Boyd fan, no-one could argue with his goalscoring record for either Kilmarnock or Rangers (think he's scored a few for Scotland as well).

Sure a lot of his goals were penalities and a good few, were goals in comfortable victories (a 1-0 win is as important as a 5-0).

But this guy knew where the net was.

His career hasn't went far since he left, can't say I was surprised as he always struck me as a local boy.

Should he go back to Rangers I'd say no, should he have ever left Rangers I'd say no way.

We have always slagged other teams for living in the past, this is time for a fresh start and let bygones be bygones, I for one would take boyd back for a start as he's a proven goal scorer in SCOTLAND and before all the people start, I know he failed in england so maybe scottish football is his level

21 Jan 2013 21:18:16
agreed mate this posts about boyd keep it that way he's proven in scotland that's all that matters he socres goals dosent matter what level

We are not desperate for players at the minute, lets just not waste money for the sake of nostalgia.

Who else was bought by barcelona from the sfa..... well van bronkhorst ended up at barcelona also played at arsenal and was also a champions league winner with barcelona

Cant afford players who do nothing at this level. boyd's workrate was non-existent and was shown in walter's team choices when it mattered for both scotland and rangers. in my opinion a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere

How many goals did he score against celtic in his whole life ?? ...ONE ... larsson scored 158 goals in only 6 year in the spl boyd scored 164 in 11 year only 6 more goals yet 5 year more ... larsson went on to play for barca boyd is only 29 and sacked

In september at the earliest, think he'll hang around that long with no wages? Doubt it coz he's a money grabbin person. Loved him first time around but don't want him back.

Theres no comparison between Larsson and Boyd, Every team on earth would have larrson before boyd! And am a rangers fan! But you have to give boyd credit when he was here he scored goals. He got found out when he went down england and every where else, but here in scotland he found the net! Would I want him back... I don't know, but if he did come back I wouldn't really complain if he started banging them in again
