So, anything new in regards to a DoF?

22 Mar 2017 11:14:16
I suspect after Ross Wilson, Paul Mitchell, Stuart Webber and Alex McLeish have all rejected the role, they will be trying to conduct any further business away from the media to save more embarrassment!

If it was my decision, I would be trying to get John Park in as DoF. Yes, he worked for them and Hibs, but the players he has brought through have been very good.

22 Mar 2017 11:35:08
Paul Mitchell has a contract til the summer

22 Mar 2017 15:35:42
i only knew two of them that where offered it as mcleish wasnt offered it just said no in an interview! and also i didn't think we had made a approach to mitchell as yet

22 Mar 2017 15:54:01
Park is an arrogant person who built a reputation on the backs of other scouts who he then promptly dumped. He took all the credit for the work of others and if he ever comes to Rangers I for one will have watched my last game after almost 60 years.

21 Mar 2017 11:44:06
Barry Ferguson to be announced as 3rd member of management team tomorrow. I for one would say welcome back Barry, we should never have let you go. Great captain and player.

21 Mar 2017 12:27:46
If confirmed- this is quite an interesting development. Pedro usually spends max 18 months at a club - Barry would shadow Pedro and in essence, be a she in for our next manager. thoughts?

21 Mar 2017 12:45:41
Only if he shows the qualities required. We don't want or need another McCoist scenario.

21 mar 2017 13:53:20
i am over the moon if that is true as he is a proper rangers man and will motivate theplayers no end.

having said that i don't think he would be a shoe in for our next manager as going from clyde to a no.3 to a rangers manager is very very big step but i know he will do this job well.

21 Mar 2017 14:34:32
I've met Barry a few times and found him to be both ignorant and arrogant. I think he would the wrong decision as assistant. The whole Paul le Guen debacle should be considered as lessons learned. Don't get me wrong, as a player I loved the guy but I am really unsure about this one. I would be the first to stand and say I was wrong and if he is our new assistant I hope to be proven wrong.

if it does come to pass and barry ferguson is the chosen candidate, for the no.3 position, then i'm also delighted and wish a true rangers legend all the best! welcome back baz! i do myself, think the thinking behind this appointment, will be to groom barry under caixinha, with the undoubted view, of him becoming the next glasgow rangers manager, a few years down the line!

but of course i totally take on board that baz must prove himself, while working under pedro caixinha! certain fans on here say, ferguson hasn't done enough as a coach to get this position, whereas i totally disagree with them and let me explain why!

at this moment in time, barry ferguson is being brought in more from his experience at knowing the mentality of rangers as opposed to being the finished article, as a coach! he'll be helping pedro, baptista and malta, gauging the culture of rangers and scottish football in general, first and foremost! helping them settling in to life at glasgow rangers, if you like!

although baz has a wee bit of coaching experience at both blackpool and clyde, he still has a bit to learn, before he'll be considered, as glasgow rangers manager material! but he will learn under caixinha and if he does then without question, he could well be the next rangers manager!

he possesses a lot of the qualities just now, that's needed to be a glasgow rangers manager! if it is baz confirmed as our new no.3, then all i can say is "welcome home barry"! back where you belong! the guys a winner and rangers to the core!

21 Mar 2017 15:13:28
@thebluevoice - if true, This appointment doesn't fill me with confidence. He has shown nothing ability wise to be a decent coach and it doesn't show any ambition giving someone a job just because he's a ' Rangers Man '.
@barcabbear - Rangers manager in 18 months? Really? Let's hope he picks a lot up in those 18 months.

21 Mar 2017 15:29:28
I really don't think Ferguson is the way to go. Are we forgetting McCoist was a rangers legend and learned under Walter for a few years and it didn't make him a great manager. It worries me that people think he would be the next manager after Caixinha. Would far prefer someone like Neil McCann who is a far more articulate analyser of the game than ferguson and still knows what the club is about.

21 Mar 2017 15:41:57
To everyone that is against Barry returning incase it turns into another Coisty situation, I didn't hear anyone complaining when he was no2 to Walter Smith with us and Scotland, in fact I never heard a negative story about Ally when he was number 2. So if it is Barry (personally I hope it is) let's wish him the best and get on with it, if he can help nurture any of our midfielder's into being half the player he was he'll have earned his money in my book

21 Mar 2017 15:10:38
big Ped you are way off the mark. I have also met the guy. Yes he is a confident guy with an ego but its one he has earned. 5 league titles european final club captain. Come on now that's exactly the guy we need. he's nit there to be a friend he's there to lead

21 Mar 2017 15:34:08
Big Ped, I've known Barry Ferguson since he was about eight and I've never found him to be either arrogant or ignorant. He's one of the good guys in fact, and he's even stopped in the street to talk to my wife and myself in passing. You will indeed be proved wrong about him if this actually happens, because not only does his heart and soul belong to Rangers, he will learn from PC and add that knowledge to his love for Rangers. Potentially a great move.

21 Mar 2017 17:30:31
Yip meet baz loads of time great guy to speak to if it is baz i wish him all the best

21 Mar 2017 18:10:03
Big ped totally agree re Ferguson. I had the displeasure of meeting him in person at 2005 Rangers Halloween bash in Hilton hotel. he's a total ned! I respectfully asked him to sign an autograph for my mrs at the time. It wasnt a hard name to spell (Barbara) he tried to spell it out 3 times b4 thrusting the pen and paper back into ma hand and said ah **** it! Not only thick but totally ignorant. I spent a 100 quid on a ticket to be treated like that by a gers captain was a disgrace. Give me alex rae or neil mccann b4 ferguson. Wonderful player but has no class whatesoever. Doubt he will end up an asset to pedro neither!

21 Mar 2017 19:27:32
Really hope Barry gets the gig as i know he'd put his all into it and if it didn't wrk it wouldn't b for the want of trying. as for the PLG saga, the only thing Barry was guilty of was caring to much as players at that time will tell you. PLG was a disaster end of. Please come home Barry and instill some of those battling qualities you had into our club

21 Mar 2017 19:36:08
Superbly written wee-ecky! I'm with you all the way regarding barry ferguson mate! I've also met baz at numerous supporters functions and always found him extremely approachable and pleasant to speak to! I actually sponsored barry ferguson's home clyde shirt for his 1st full year at clyde!

I paid 80 quid to become his home shirt sponsor! I had always tried to sponsor his rangers home shirt when he was at ibrox but he was sponsored by a company from harthill that i know rather well, ie. curtis insulation! They kept renewing their sponsorship with baz every season, so i couldn't become his shirt sponsor, while he was at rangers!

In fact i even lost out to curtis insulation yet again, when he moved to blackburn rovers! Baz was a big favourite of mine and was one helluva captain and midfielder, for the famous glasgow rangers! The greatest of his generation, BAR NONE! I really do hope that baz is, coming home!

21 Mar 2017 21:53:47
Happy to see him back even happier he's not the number 2, nothing against him just think this is perfect for him he is going to get to learn the trade and gain the experience to hopefully in 4 or 5 years take the reigns, think coming in as assistant manager would have been wrong choice for him and rangers

21 Mar 2017 22:28:02
Barry has denied even speaking to anyone about the role, according to Keech of the DR, who claims to have had a denial from the man himself.

22 Mar 2017 10:00:28
I would be surprised if this happens, the one thing Pedro has shown is he likes to do his research, and if he does some research on BF then he will find he was one of the reasons PLG failed. As club captain he didn't support PLG and he doesn't appear to be the type that learns from their mistakes, therefore it's unlikely he would fully support Pedro. I think he would be better giving the role to Murty or Alex Rae. Murty did well to turn that team around in 4-5 weeks, and Alex Rae seems to be a quite thoughtful coach that is keen to learn.

22 mar 2017 10:31:46
people forget that barry ferguson always put the club he adores before himself everytime! remember the injections he took weekly into his pelvis? just one of many things he risked his health for, which was all for glasgow rangers! barry ferguson is a winner! we can't ever have enough of these guys at our club! plain and simple!

22 Mar 2017 10:31:43
Well said wee ecky. Ped was way off the mark. Baz shoukd be regarded as club legend. He won more trophies than any other rangers captain.

22 Mar 2017 10:32:31
Thebluevoice, i don't think any candidate for our no.3 role, will be chosen and announced until early next week mate! Although i do hope you're right, because the quicker he's chosen the better! Every bear has they're own opinion on who they want it to be! For me its barry ferguson all the way! But of course if it happens to be john (bomber) brown or alex rae or neil mccann, then i will also get behind them, and give them my full backing, totally!

22 Mar 2017 15:36:00
people you are comparing barry to ally isn't fair on either of them barry for me hasn't learned from the best and mccoist for me is hated by some idiotic rangers fans for taking his wages!
also mccoist came in and won htree league titles first time of asking while being everything to rangers; their p. r guy their scout their spokesman all at the time rangers where a their lowest and the guy got nothing but stick for it.

yes his tactics where terrible but so where the players he was stuck with.

people like you the blue voice are like a dog with a bone, u just don't know when to let go.

also mccoist was manager not a no.3, barry will hardly have anything to do with the technical training side and more to do with motivating the players and settling pedro into life in the gold fish bowl

22 Mar 2017 15:46:20
Thebluevoice, for the record mate, richard gough won more trophies as rangers captain, than barry ferguson did mate!

22 Mar 2017 16:52:31
I once puked on Barry Ferguson's shoes in the old Destiny nightclub in town. He was ok about it and asked if i was alright. Not sure whether that means he will be our No.3 in the dug-out though?

21 Mar 2017 08:12:48
I've seen a few places this morning that we are apparently signing Darren Fletcher. anyone heard this or no anymore about this?

21 Mar 2017 11:34:33
rumours like that make me sigh too!

21 Mar 2017 11:39:28
sincerely hope not - one of the most over rated players i've ever seen and also a self confessed follower of them.

21 Mar 2017 13:53:09
Darren played for us and them as a lad. He did grow up a Celtic fan tho I doubt it would make a jot of difference in his decision making process. Doubt he will sign for us though.

21 mar 2017 13:54:22
don't want players past their sell by date.

21 Mar 2017 15:35:54
Camoo, he didn't 'play' for us, he was invited a few times for coaching sessions and development games aged about 13 but when he made it quite plain he was going to Manchester United we dropped our interest.
